GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Here's today's
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY two short ones as I don't have access to my regular computer today:
If you are having a rough time right now, give yourself the gift of new beginnings. Give yourself permission to start fresh every day. Stop limiting your happiness to just one or two chances. The world is full of possibilities. Give yourself permission to reach out again and grab yours every single day. Don't drown your dreams in hopelessness. Forgive yourself for past mistake and begin your dream anew. Choose to see new opportunities for success and happiness everywhere you look. Make a conscious choice to greet each morning with gratitude, as a new chance at happiness.
by Edel Jarboe
************
Get excited about your goal by believing that you can and will
succeed at your dream. That is, let your faith in your abilities
fuel your inner fire. For this is how you grow your self
confidence, by taking baby steps towards your goal. Another way
to grow your dream is to ask yourself the following questions:
"What would I do if I could not fail?" "What would I do if I had
all the time, energy, and resources necessary? " Now the next
step is to get out there and do it anyway. Because whatever is
holding you back from your dream is only as strong as you allow
it to be. It only has power over you insofar as you give it
power over your dreams. Vanquish this fear by doing a little
each day toward your dream and watch your confidence soar and
your dreams take concrete shape.

Have a wonderful week!:D

Good Monday Morning Everyone:wave:
Have edited and re-edited posts this morning. Woke up before 7am to find Michael on the computer already and asking him if he was up all night on it. He fell asleep and has already told me I will NOT be able to get on the computer all day, he's way behind. Kids are here already to work on the project. I had to resort to going on my Mother's account with hopes she was still sleeping and not trying to get on line. Got cut off twice by people calling the main line already - very frustrating. Had to get on the laptop, hate it!
Will try to get on when I can - not too hopeful today, though.

Good Monday Morning.
Well it is 26 degrees here and covered in ice. We got more ice and some snow last night. Surprisingly, the interestates were pretty clear and I had no troulbe getting to work and on time.
Yesterday was a busy day running around. Went out to lunch and ten to buy DD a stove and then to the grocery. We folded and stuck bows on 200 invitations last nite. But it was fun doing it.
Back to the grind today. I have a presentation to do by Wed so I might not be on here too much. Will try though.
I almost forgot. The girl in the office made me cheese straws for by BD. TOtally 100% legal. She said since cheetos are the thing I miss the most, she tried to get the closet thing. They really taste like cheese nips. Very good. Much better than a cake or something else. I made her Deb's cheesecake last week for her BD. She does SB with me.
Solshine, Glad you are back to the living. Don't push yourself too hard. Tkae it easy and just let Vince wait on you. Maybe it will become a habit and he will continue after you are well. Becareful on those crutches. Don't want any mishaps. Take care.
Bob, You and my DH would get along well.. Liver and war movies. He went off last nite to watch platoon. Not for me. DD didn't go back to college yet. THey closed the school today. Lexington got hit alot worse than we did.
Tranquil, Those women were just jealous of you at Target. I sure it was looks of envy.
Yellow, never heard of that new technique, but it sure sounds better. I will be thinking of you tomorrow and sending good vibes your way. There aren't too many Big Boys left. Yes they still have the Swiss Miss. I just love their fish.
Quilter, hope you are not burried in the snow and ice. Did you all get more? We got more ice last night, but it wasn't too bad this morning. DD didn't have to go back to school. They still don't have electricity in their apt. Probably will go back today though.
Heartmom, I agree that the weather contributes to everyone being sick. It sure is crazy. What is wrong with these men. They know we are trying to lose wt and yet they bring home chocolates. If mine did that I think I would hit him over the head with them.
Gator, Sounds like you have a nice week and a wonderful birthday. How sweet of your children to do that for you. I always get 2 gifts but not quite of the caliber they would be if the days weren't soo close.
Miata, Your quilting retreat sounds so interesting. I'm sure you willhave lots of fun and learn valuable stuff.
Deb, I can't believe that Michael was already on the computer. Well, again I can believe it. Thanks for the call last night. That was so sweet of you. Have a great day.
Have a great day.

I joined the board yesterday, I posted a quicky intro in a seperate thread.
I purchased Sugar Busters at walmart yesterday and have read a few chapters, I am really psyched! I am not saying that the change will be easy, but the rewards will be great.
It's funny but I was reading the chapter on refined sugar and watching my kids run around the house eating Valentines Day candy. I never realized how much sugar a person consumes a year, but putting it into perspective I know that my family will be making some changes too.
I'm excited to read the rest of the book and to get to know everyone here.
I did buy some cereal that has 3 grams of sugar in it, but boy was that hard to find, my ole diet standby bran flakes had 15 grams ! Was I shocked. But if anyone would like to share some of their favorite meal ideas I would appreciate it.

Good Monday Morning All
I thought it was time that I got back 'on board'. The reason that I haven't been on lately is because I just haven't been able to lose any more pounds. I've been hovering around 200 pounds for more than fifteen months, gaining and losing the same few pounds. I suppose I should be thankful that I have been able to maintain all this time but I would like to lose some. I get mad with myself that I am just not able to do it. Maybe I have become too complacent and don't have the same resolve that I had at the beginning. It's over three years since I started this woe. Anyway here's to a new beginning. I've been eating good the last week or two apart from sneaking the odd chocolate while at work. We've only just finished the Christmas chocolates now there is another batch for VD. It's a good job I am not working every day. I've been trying to keep off the scales, weighing no more than once or twice a week. It's amazing how much more energy I have when I eat op and in particular keep those starchy carbs down. I also feel a little thinner even though it hasn't shown on the scales yet.
Solshine - Hope you are recovering well from the surgery and that Meister is taking good care of you. You'd better start eating those prunes or get Vince to make you some lentil or pea soup. That should help with the dookie houser. I always have a package of prunes in the fridge - most of the time I eat them because I like them but also sometimes from necessity.
YellowRose - Good luck with your surgery on Tuesday.
Mel - Your ds's stomach problems could be caused by the lactose in milk. My dd was a big milk drinker when she was a kid but developed an intolerance to it later. You can buy lactose free milk, maybe this is something you could try. Sorry to here about all the snow you are having. Please don't send any of it up this way.
Sugless - I'm glad to see another Canadian on the board. Where abouts in Ontario are you? I live just north of Toronto. I've made pizza with a whole wheat crust. I've made it for my grandkids too and they never complained about it. Hope yours turns out well. Both you and your dd have done very well to lose 20/10 pounds in just over a month.
Melf - Sorry to hear about the fall you had. Hope you are on the mend.
Quilter - Sounds like you got lots of arm exercise this weekend with all that painting. That icy rain is worse than the snow. We had it a couple of weeks ago, came on so suddenly. It's very scary to drive in those conditions. I don't think any kind of corn is really legal on SB but 2 cups of popcorn has a gi of 55 and 12 grams of carbs so it should be o.k. to eat occasionally if you can restrict yourself to that amount. But if it bothers you to eat it then it is best to keep away from it.
BOB - What the heck do you do with all that kale. I think I read that you had about twelve pounds of it the other day. Do you freeze any of it? It's one of my favorites greens.
Allycat - Welcome from another Canadian. That makes five of us on this board. Who knows we might catch up with those Floridians soon ;). No one will mind if you are not officially doing SB. There are others on the board who combine it with WW and others who alternate with Atkins. The Glucose Revolution is still a low glycemic lifestyle and lots of the information for SB came from the authors of TGR.
Fillise - Glad you had a good time at the ball. Hope to see some pics soon. Take care of those tootsies.
Monet Glad to hear you are starting to lose again. Also that your son got a pay check. That must have been a worrisome time for you both.
Deb - Hope you had a good day up in WPB. That must have been a shock to find all those kids in your kitchen so early in the morning. Hope the kids let you have that computer soon. I liked your MM's to-day particularly the one about New Beginnings. It's what I needed to read to-day to get me going on my 'new beginning'.
Jack-K - Hope you enjoyed your birthday lunch. Those cheese straws sound good. Did your friend give you the recipe?
Miata - Way to go on resisting those cupcakes. If you remove the skin and excess fat from the chicken thighs I think it would be o.k. to eat them, although the white meat is the better choice. I think chicken dark meat would still have less fat than, say, a piece of steak.
Tranquil - You can come and do my bathroom next.:)
Gator - Your birthday dinner sounded delicious.
Kacie - Welcome to the board. You have come to the right place for help and support with this woe.
Well it's been about four weeks since I posted so can't catch up with you all but will just say a big HI to everyone I have not addressed. Have to get going with a few chores. Then have to get ready for badminton, then work this afternoon.
Marie.

Hi All
Just dropping in for a quickie.
Didn't do so well over the weekend. We didn't get to celebrat my girlfriend's birthday earlier this month cause her DH had just had surgery. So we went there on Saturday and ordered Chinese and I brought a cake. I tried to eat stuff that was mostly veggies, had soup instead of an eggroll, but did have a few chicken balls (I brought my own cause I've found some at the grocery that are mostly meant with only a little bit of batter) and I had a slice of cake. I left the rest of the cake at their house.
I guess that wasn't so bad. But gotta get back on track.
I got in a couple of hours of walking this morning. At least an hour at a good clip. Had to go up a couple of hills. So I think that was a pretty good workout. I'm also going to be cleaning today--I'm in a mood to do a good, deep clean.
I have a question for you all: What is your opinion about eating roast that has been cooking in a broth/gravy made from a can of Coke, a can of mushroom soup and an envelope of onion soup mix??? I know it kind of sounds gross, but it actually is tasty. I was just wondering what your opinions were about eating the meat if I scraped off the gravy?? Or would it be a no-no since it's cooked in stuff with sugars and starch??
I'm thinking of all of you south of the boarder with all that snow! We're maybe going to get just a couple of inches of snow from the same storm but nothing like some places have had. We never got any ice either. I hope all of you are safe and snug.
MELIRIS--Bet you wish you were living back here just now, huh? I'd much rather have the cold and the sun than the 5'snow drifts to shovel. Just take it easy with the shovelling so you don't hurt yourself.
ROSALIE--Glad to see you post. I wasn't posting very often either because, like you, I've been losing and gaining the same few pounds for a while. I've been making an effort to try to come on board more frequently just to keep myself accountable. I find I'm at least thinking more about what I eat these days (even if I do slip up!)
SUGLESS & ALLYCAT--WELCOME! WHOOHOO, a couple more Canuks! I'm just north of Toronto too, not too far from ROSALIE.
KACIE--WELCOME to you too. This is a great place for support and info.
JACKK--that was really nice of your coworker buddy to make you something legal. How thoughtful for her to try to make something close to cheetos. Rotten ice/snow storms. That's worse than the extreme cold we've been having. Keep safe.
DEBELLI--Get on when you can. We know the kids school work comes first and that you're still thinking of us. We're all thinking about you!
Ok, I've gotta go. HELLO to all I've missed.

Hi all!
I am new to this forum. I am an atkid who crossed over to Sugar Busters about a week ago. I read the book and a bunch of net information.
Sugar busters seems like a much more balanced approach to eating. Its quite exciting after being restricted on Atkins for so many years. I have a feeling I am not going to lose weight fast (atkins the first year was rapid) but with going to the gym (curves and ballys) I should be ok.
I look forward to being here
Michelle
ps I posted a couple of questions in the questions forum, if someone could answer them, Id be very thankful
Thanks for being here!

I called in for today too because the cold & rainy weather of the week end played a number on me, so I'mm off to the chiropractor this am. On the otherhand, I AM feeling better & should be back to work Thursday which is my nexted scheduled day to work.
Kacie Welcome to the board! So glad that you decided to join us.
Debelli, Girl, Michael sure is busy huh? Poor kid, he lives in front of that computer! And poor you, you don't have a chance in the world...lol We really do miss you here on the board but DO understand that it is important for Micheal to get his work done.
YellowRose, It was great to get to talk to you on the phone last night. Praying for you that all will go well tomorrow & a quick healing will follow. Will be waiting to hear a good report from your dd!
Rosalie, How wonderful to see your post this morning. I'm so glad you're back with us. I hear the dissapointment in your tone of writing, but please don't give up. I also have been fighting the same 5-6 lbs back & forth. It is an ongoing battle, but one that we cannot give into. We MUST persist!!
Mel, 30" of snow??? It may be cold & damp here in SW LA, but at least I can get to my car! AAACK is right!! Hope you can find your car again
I came across this article this morning thru an email add & thought it was appropriate to share it as many of us are struggling with staying OP these days. There are a few things that I do not agree with in here, like eating raw corn & potato @ bedtime, but over-all, a good article.
Sugar Addicts Anonymous: The 12 Step Program to Beating Sugar Addiction
By James Keller
Most of us don't realize it, but we are drug addicts. Our drug comes in a pure, white crystal or powder form. We use it even when we don't know we're doing it. It's in salad dressing, peanut butter, soup, pickles, bread, jam, yogurt, canned fruits and vegetables... We crave it after every meal. On an average, each of us consumes about 130 lbs. per year. What is this controversial drug, you ask. It goes by many names, but the most common is sugar.
This deliciously sweet substance is also deliciously devoid of any nutritional value. Sugar passes through the wall of the stomach so quickly that it causes blood sugar levels to skyrocket, then plummet just as rapidly. I'm sure you are familiar with the feeling.
The problem that arises in coping with sugar addiction is that sugar is in so many common foods now, it's practically impossible to cut it out completely. You can't eat a sandwich without getting sugar from the bread or the mayo. You can't eat a salad without getting sugar from the dressing.
Beating sugar addiction may seem like a hopeless battle, but just like any drug addiction, you have to have a structured plan to win the war. I make no claims that it will be an easy battle. You won't be vomiting in back alleys or shivering in bed all night, but you will have the uncontrollable desire for something, anything that will give you your sugar fix.
Here is your twelve step program to beating sugar addiction. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it:
1. Stick to foods that are closest to their original form. Instead of eating corn from a can, eat corn on the cob. Banish white bread and embrace wheat bread. Forget fruit juices; go for the actual fruit. The closer a food is to it's original form, then less processed sugar it will contain.
2. Eat protein with breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but do you know why? Breakfast is the meal that will make or break you for the rest of the day. Your first meal must create blood sugar stability that will carry you to the next meal without sugar cravings.
3.Eat protein with every meal. As soon as your blood sugar is thrown out of whack, you will be off the wagon again. Eating protein with each meal prepares your body for the increase of seratonin production and keeps your blood sugar stable throughout the day.
4. Read Labels! It's incredible how many things we put into our mouths without the slightest idea what is in them. The longer the list of ingredients, the more likely sugar is going to be included on that list.
5.Don't starve yourself in order to reward your restraint with a donut or a Twix. Not only is this bad for your body, but you won't lose weight. Your body will just go into starvation mode, storing all your calories as fat. So that slice of chocolate cake you eat after a seven hour fast is going straight to fat.
6. Keep a journal of what you eat. You will be surprised, and probably shocked, by the amount of sugar-filled snacks and extras involved in your diet. Write down everything, down to those five M&Ms or that tablespoon of teriyaki sauce.
7. Brown is beautiful: brown rice, wheat bread, brown cereals, etc... Brown foods give your body the positive effects of carbohydrates without unbalancing your blood sugar and creating cravings.
8. Be active and keep busy. Most of us snack the most when we are bored and inactive. Go for a walk. Go shopping. Organize your entire house. Anything to keep your hands busy and away from the cookie jar.
9. Eat a potato before bed. Before your head explodes from the thought of eating a starchy, carbohydrate-filled potato right before bed, consider this: when taken with the right vitamins, that spud will increase your production of seratonin, balancing your blood sugar levels. Besides, it's better than eating ice cream before bed.
10. Try a detox program. Detoxing isn't just for yoga yogis and Enya junkies anymore. There are dozens of detox programs designed for health enthusiasts of all levels. Some last two days, some last two months. But they all have one thing in common: after the initial overwhelming sugar cravings, your body adjusts and you won't even want the sugar anymore.
11. Drink water constantly. The more water you drink, the more your body will be fooled into thinking it is not hungry. Plus, you can rest assured that there is not a grain of sugar in water.
12. Don't get down on yourself if you slip and eat a desert every once in a while. It's okay to reward yourself, just don't start the addiction all over again. There are always healthier options for deserts. Eat berries with some low-calorie whipped topping. Snack on a couple of graham crackers. Maybe you would be healthier if you cut out sugar altogether forever, but people who do things in moderation get the best of both worlds. Enjoy your life, but don't overdo it.

Hi All:
Kacie - Welcome!!!!
Meesh Renee - I am cutting and pasting your questions so those that just go to this board only will see them :) Hope it helps you with getting some answers...
The questions I have on sugar busters are
# 1. How are you "counting" the splenda sweetened cranberry blends? 10 calories per serving sweetened with splenda ( Tranquil's answer: I dont drink juice, but eat fresh fruit, to me there is too much risk of sugar and Splenda does not agree with me and it does not help me lose weight)
#2 What "bars" are good ones to eat? I dont mean the carbolite candy - I know myself well enought o know i need to stay the **** away from sugar alcohols. What do you think about Luna bars? They average 22 carbs or so each but they have no glycerin (common staller) or the sugar alcohols. (Tranquil's answer: I don't eat any of those bars, maybe once in awhile if emergency calls for it I have a carbolite or Atkins...but only if I really have to)
#3 If I am eating about 1800 calories per day (current weight of about 257) .. is this ok? I figured out my BMR and its well over 3000 calories per day. If I ate that, how would my portions break down - as in fruits, grains, meatsm dairy? (Tranquil's answer: I don't count calories, though I watch how much fat and serving sizes)
Melf - thanks for that great post - loved it!!!! I agree with you that I disagree with him about the corn and potato stuff!!!! Glad you are feeling better!
Zanne - good for you getting some exercise and being careful for dinner out....meanwhile, I would stay away from that roast with the coke because I would imagine the meat would absorb the sugar? Just my thought on it....
Mel - Enjoy that great cardio to find your car! My mother just sent me a pic of their neighbor's house across the street totally covered in snow - they are in the NYC Suburbs....incredible and so beautiful....
Rosalie - Hi!!! Great that you came back - you might surprise yourself and have some big losing streak starting over again - got my fingers crossed for you!!!
JackK - that is so sweet of the ladies to make SB legal stuff for you - like those cheese straws!!!! Becareful out there with the ice!!!!!
Deb - Hiya!!!!! Sorry to hear about no computer time - you need to break down and get fast speed internet and have the laptop and the main computer networked so you can always get on and not have any bumping off!!!
Well, my break is over ta ta!!!

Eating okay and was exercising pretty good till I got a pain in my side this weekend. Gonna try and do a walk video after I finish this note. You would not believe the awesome buys I found shopping yesterday. Both fridges are full of fruit and veggies. Apples 7 and 10 for a dollar..oranges also. Mexican squash only 50 cents a pound....I could go on but I won't bore ya. It was seriously like shopping in the spring or summer. Which is a blessing because the kids are beginning to eat more and more healthy snacks. My 5 year old asked my mom for some of her cauliflower yesterday. She asked me if he liked it..I told her it was his favorite. And what's cool is he prefers it plain with no dip. Cucumbers are another thing the kids love to munch. Which is cool except when prices are up..LOL You'd be amazed at how many cukes we can go through in a week.
Oh, did I tell ya'll I froze my sugar free candy so I would have to get up and go outside to get a piece. Figured it would help me to stay out of them. Let me just tell ya...frozen RS peppermint patties are sooooo good frozen...LOL But I was a good girl and only ate the one yesterday. I even put my snacks on the kitchen counter Sat. instead of having them by my puter. That way I had to get up and walk to get a bite. Kind of a neat way to get me moving a little more.
Our dog Lady had puppies Sat. night. She is such a good little moma. We have seven. The kids had a blast watching them be born. Hopefully we will be able to get her fixed soon.
Tranquil...I agree with you. I stay away from the juices unless I have a bad eating day and just need the punch from a little OJ.
Welcome Kacie and MeeshRenee! I think you will enjoy this WOE. I've seen major changes even though the last little bit I've been kinda stuck..but that's my fault. :)
WB Fortytude and Rosalie. I hear ya Rosalie. Hang in there lady. Just last week I went through what you are going through. It's hard to be "stuck" at the same weight for a long time. Praying you start downward.
Zanne...doesn't sound like you did that bad at all. Consider it a little treat and get right back on track. :)
Melf...I'm glad to hear you are starting to feel better. Been praying for you.
Mel...burr. I've heard shoveling snow is one of the most strenous exercises a person can do. Be careful out there.
Jack-K ...what a sweet thing for your friend to do for your B-day. It sounds like the wedding is coming along. It's so fun to read about it. I hope it warms up for ya soon. We are cold today but gonna warm up nicely the rest of the week. I wish we could skip the rain part though. It's been a wet winter.
Deb...thanks for getting our board set up and the MM. You are so busy and your time is appreciated.
Well I have some pork bones boiling for soup tonight. I need to go get some of the veggies ready...cauliflower..broccoli...ect. I LOVE soup. Hope you all are having a super Monday. And continue to have a super week.
Love,
Crystle

FILLISE--OH, MY, GOODNESS!!! I used your recipe for WW bread in the machine. Just took the loaf out and BOY IS IT GOOD! So nice and light. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
MELF--Thanks for the article. I agree with you on the potatoes and corn thing. Glad you're feeling better.
TRANQUIL--thanks for your input.
MEESH--WElcome aboard! I can't help you too much with your questions. I don't use artificial sweeteners and prefer eating the fruits, I don't eat any "health" bars, and I don't count calories. I'm sure that somebody can help you out tho.
FORTYTUDE--Howdy!
Just catching up. Those of you with a bread machine should try FILLISE's bread recipe! It is really good.

COUNTRY--we were posting at the same time. Your fridges sound like mine. I have strawberries stocked up. They were so good for being imports at this time of year. What is a "mexican" squash? I've never heard of it. My DS likes veggies too. He calls broccoli "trees" and when he bites the flower part off he has a "stump". Kids are funny. WTG with freezing your candy and moving your snacks. Good ideas! Are you going to be keeping any of the puppies?

Hi all! Happy Monday! I sure am glad it was a holiday and neither of us had to work. We got more snow during the night, so it's a winter wonderland out there today. We just finished painting the bookshelves and hand railing. We are either really slow or really good. I'm not sure which. As soon as that dries, I want to take up those drop clothes, vacuum and give a coat to the baseboards and door frame. Then that's it. I'll hang up my paint brushes for at least a couple of weeks. I swear, I do not know how those people on Trading Spaces do all that work in just two days. There's no way you could even pay me to be on that show. Too much pressure and too much work. Plus you might get screwed with a ridiculous-looking room after all that work.
Do any of you watch Kathleen Daelaman's show on FoodTV called Cooking Thin? I think she's great! She's not doing the sugarbuster program and she's mainly low fat, low calorie. But I really like her. She's so inspirational because she was once a size 22 and it now an 8. She's a chef and has re-done lots of recipes to make them healthier. Yesterday she was working with a woman who needed to lose 150 pounds. The show was so moving and emotional for me. I could feel that woman's pain and how frustrated she was with her body and her eating habits. Kathleen really examines the person to find out lots about them and what is causing them to eat or how to help them. It's really a good show. She has some wonderful recipes. Yesterday she broiled fennel with 4 oz. of chicken breast. She put salt, pepper and lime juice on the fennel. Has anybody ever eaten fennel. I haven't and was wondering what it tastes like. JACKK---I am so thankful that your daughter didn't have to return to Lex last night. It was trecherous out there. My bro and SIL drove from East TN to Indy yesterday. They didn't leave until after lunch. We tried to talk them into staying here all night, but they went on. My bro is one of those fearless drivers. I had even considered driving down with them and was so thankful I hadn't when I saw what they were going to have to drive through. When they were coming through Lex. they said the trees looked like someone had captured them in blown glass. They heard on the radio that there were over 100 streetlights not working and many places without power. Bad scene! How sweet of your friend to make you the cheese straws!!! How did she make them? They sound yummy!!! Tell me the details about the plain popcorn microwaved in the brown sack. Are you using lunch sacks? Or grocery sacks? When we were in college (before microwaves) we used old fashioned poppers and would sprinkle garlic salt or parmesan cheese on the plain stuff. That always tasted yummy. I like the idea of starting with a limited amount and then there's no temptation to overdo.
KACIE---Welcome to the SB board! How great for you that you've discovered the no-sugar way of eating. You will really start to notice a lessening of food cravings if you have them now. There are so many knowledgeable people on this board. You will get lots of answers. My supper meal last night was legal: I fixed a big old pan of chicken thighs with just some parsley and basil and garlic on them. (took off the skin before cooking). Then steamed up some brown rice with a bullion cube to zing it up a bit. Also had some green beans and a big salad with 1 oz of mozzarella cheese on it. Yummy. And all legal. Good luck!
ROSALIE----So glad to see a post from you, but not glad to hear that you're having frustrations. Oh I've been there and it's not a fun place to be sitting. When I started SB back in January of 2001, I weighted 14 pounds less than I do right now!!! I'm not saying this WOE failed me, I failed. Gaining or not losing would make me so depressed and I would just eat more. Thankfully, I have been on track for the past 26 days. And it feels good. I will be happy to get this first month under my belt. What's working for me is to really keep track of what I eat and the amounts. Have you taken a good, hard look at what you are eating? Perhaps you can think back on your resolve that you had at the beginning. Try to remember how great you felt and how focused you were back then. I hope it helps. Feeling thinner can be a great incentive. Key in on that and use it to keep you going. Thanks for the advice on the popcorn. I think it's something that I could only have on a VERY limited basis. But I do enjoy it. Too much!!! I was at WO the other day and they had these green things in a bag that were snap peas. But they were kind of like deep fried. Sort of the consistency of a cheesy poof. They must have been made out of ground up snap peas. But they were really high in calories and fats for me. So I passed on them.
MELIRIS---I know what you mean about shoveling. It can really get those arms and back going! Hang in there and try to not overdo out there. I thought my arms were finished with the painting, but we will probably need to go attack the driveway sometime soon. Ugh!!! And we have nearly nothing compared to you all. BTW, we are under two hours from Columbus. But they are much further north than us, so they get much worse winter weather than us. It helps us to be at this southern end and on the river. I love to go to Columbus to shop and eat. They have lovely spots up there.
ZANNE---I can't answer your roast question, but I do know what you mean about adding all that stuff together and coming out with something good. People around here put a can of coke in everything. Why, I've even heard of people pouring a can down the toilet to clean it! What do you think of that? I'm so impressed that you are out walking in the cold temps! That's the spirit! Good going! I just hope it's not too cold for you out there. It's chapped lips city around here!!! I'm glad you are back posting regularly. Heck, I'm glad I'm back posting regularly too.
MEESHRENEE---Welcome!!! You are right. SB is much more versatile than your previous diet. I hope you like it and I hope that you get your questions answered. I will try to remember to go over there and see what your questions are.
MELF----Hallelujah that you are already feeling better. That chiropractor must be doing the trick. Good for you! Thanks for sharing the 12 rules. They are great! I think I should print them and hang on my bulletin board.
COUNTRY---Sorry to hear about your pain. I hope it's nothing that lasts long. Good for you on all those great buys. And really, really, really good for you for freezing the candy in the o utside freezer. That's so smart!!! We should have suggested that tip to MONET this weekend. What kind of dog is Lady? Will you keep any of the pups?
MONET---Thanks for the invite to Hotlanta. That sounds like a lot of fun!!! Isn't it SpaMonet??? I have a really good friend who lives in Stone Mountain. How far is that from you?
MIATA---Way to go on not caving in to those cupcakes. You are AWESOME!!!! Doesn't it make you feel so great when you win out over some indulgence??? Is your DH a biker??? I've missed that part of your posts. Do you remind repeating for me?
BOB---Maddie goes out through the basement. Our garage is off our basement and goes out under the deck. It's easier for her to go out there. She doesn't stay out very long. But the deck steps are too slippery for her now. Plus the back storm door is frozen shut.
SOL---How are you feeling today? Hope the ankle swelling is going down. Hey, you can be in the SB singers. Come on and join in. LOL.
TRANQ---You made me LOL about your wet t-shirt. Pity it was just women waiting outside the door. Somebody might have gotten lucky. HA!!! That stew sounded so good.
YELLOW---My prayers and thoughts are with you tomorrow. Hope all goes well. We'll be waiting to hear from your dd with details. Tell her thanks from us for keeping us poasted.
Okay, time to pick up the drop cloths. Gotta skeedaddle. I don't want to be painting those baseboards tonight at midnight. Take it easy.
Later,

Hi,
Well, I have to write to vent! I went over to for the pre-admit for my surgery and at that
time found out that they had made a mistake and the surgery will now be at 6 p.m.
instead of 4 p.m.. 4 p.m. was bad enough but now this. I told them I was afraid they
would operate on my left knee instead of my right clavicle at this rate. The woman who
did the scheduling the day I made the appointment was new but someone was helping
her and neither one caught it. I really think that they just put someone else in that
appointment. I would have never agreed to such a late appointment but now I am
pretty much stuck unless I want to wait 3 weeks. My daughter is already on her way
and everything is set up so, I guess I will hope for the best. I can’t keep postponing it
even though it just doesn’t feel right.
Miata: Your quilting weekend sounds ideal. I use to sew a lot and that would have
been heaven to have been able to take 3 days out to play with it.
Kacie: Welcome! For breakfast, I usually have Old Fashioned Oatmeal and
sometimes I put 1 tablespoon of peanut butter in with it. I know that sounds strange but
it is really very good.
Rosalie: It would be nice to bottle that resolve of the first few months on this way of
eating. I, too, have been at the same weight for a long time now but I continue on the
program and when the time is right I will get serious about losing the next 10 pounds.
Now, stay with us so we can share information on this journey.
Melf: I did enjoy our phone visit last evening. Thanks for cheering me up. I am glad
that you are feeling better.
Zanne: It sounds like you are in control this week. Walking and cleaning...you go girl!
MeeshRenee: Welcome to you also.
Fortytude: Welcome Back!
CountryMom: I will try you idea of freezing the RS Mint Patties. If they get any better
than the room temp. ones, I may be in real trouble. I bought several packages at an
outlet and this will be a good way to preserve them.
I have projects to finish, so, I will run do those for awhile. Hope all are well.

Thanks so much for all of your support!
I look forward to other feedback on my question.
I dont usually drink juice either..but something about a glass of cranberry.. just tastes good.. especially after a workout. Its just so low in calories.
Im begining to see I am very sensitive to asparatme.. so Im trying to avoid it. I think about the only thing I have that has it in it is some All bran cereal.
As far as "bars" go.. I dont use them a lot.. just if Im out shopping or gone all day..its an easy pick me up.. or if Im teaching and cant sit down to a meal and need something quick.
Thanks again.
Meesh :)

Greetings Earthlings!
Monet is feeling a bit crazy. Went to the school supply place, only to find it closed...grrr. Went to the grocery store, Costco, and Harry's/Whole Foods. Man, was I mad! Harry's started as a farmer's market. It was loaded with tons and tons of great looking produce, mostly at very good prices. WF bought them out about a year or so ago, and have been changing them bit by bit. I was there two weeks ago, and things were still pretty good. I went today, and they have reduced the size of the produce department so much, and have everything displayed kind of stupidly. The only Chinese style cabbage they had was horrible looking! Looks like I am going to have to drive all the way to the other farmers market that was started by Harry's brother Robert, and where Harry got the idea for his stores. Robert's market is still mostly produce, and still great prices. I could not believe they did not even have the first head of nappa! grr.
I need to run to Office Max, and hope they have what I needed from the school supply place. Be back later!
QUILT: I am not far from Stone Mountain. I live in the Norcross/Duluth area. Stone Mountain is about 20 minutes south of me. If you look at a map of Atlanta, the Interstates look like a Y at the top. I am out the right arm of the Y.
MEESH: Welcome to SB and the board! Enjoyed chatting with you on IM. You are going to love this group. They are all very helpful!
KACIE: Good to see you on here too! Welcome!
YELLOW: I am so sorry you have to wait so late for your surgery. I will be praying that the doctor is not tired, and sharp as can be when he gets to you! I hate when things happen like this, but I firmly believe God is in control, and usually has a purpose in how things go!
MEL: Wow...your car is totally buried? Sounds like a good excuse to drink hot tea and watch the boob tube, or surf the web...
ROSALIE: Good to see you! I wondered what had happened to you! I can relate to your frustration of being stalled, or losing really slowly. I wish I had some magic words that would help ease it, but I don't. Have you had your thyroid checked lately? I know there was NO way I could lose before I got on thyroid meds, and while my TSH was not much out of the normal range, it took a large dose of meds to get it down to something that made me FEEL normal. My doctor increased my T3 meds recently, and I started losing! Maybe that is what you need....
FORTY: Good to see you back! Don't be a stranger!
COUNTRY: Wish I had read your post BEFORE I got into the SF chocolates. Oh well, they are all gone now! I wish I could find some great deals on groceries! The produce at Harry's/WF today was not very good looking...
MELF: Glad you are feeling some better. Hope the Chiro can help you,and maybe with another day or two off, you will be back to normal!
TRANQ:
ok...I will finish up later. Gotta get to the store before it gets too late!

I was so proud of myself today. I went to the fruit market and this is what I got.. all for 9.38 cents:
1. 1 Huge turkey leg - good for lunch meat -its roasting now.
2. 1 artichoke (I love these things..its like fun food)
3. 2 apples
4. 2 Oranges
5. 3 peaches
6. 2 green peppers
7. 1 onion
8. 2 grapefruit
9. 1 bunch of celery
10. 1 huge cucumber
11. 1 bunch of asparagus.
wahoo! Basically all my produce for a week. And its snowing and cold.. and Idont have to eat frozen veggies.
I spent way to much at kroger yesterday on other food (whole grains, canned goods etc).. but for folks on a budget... find your local famers market or fruit market.. and watch your papers.

Hi, running out the door and don't have time to read al the posts. I'll catch up tomorrow.
Kacie, Welcome to our board. This is agreat place for support and friendship. Finish reading that book and getting all the junk out of your house and you willbe on your way. The first 3 days are the hardest. Hang in there and come here for help.
Rosalie, I'm so glad to see you back posting. You are right, you have a new beginning today. I know it is frustrating when you don't lose, but we really need to look at why we aren't losing. I know I am the only to blame for that. Maybe journaling would help you keep on track. But please don't stay away from here. We need you and you need us.
Mel, 30" Oh My Gawd! (as BOB would say) I thought we had it bad with all the ice. Look at the bright side, you probably don't have to get out in it. Is your city shut down? Shoveling is great exercise.
Zanne, IMHO on the roast, it probably wouldn't be too bad since you aren't eating the whole roast and some of it has cooked away. If you aremaking it, use a diet coke. Glad you aren't getting much of this snow storm. WTG on all that exercise today.
MeeshRenee, Welcome to our board. SB will be a treat for you since Atkins. We are here to answer any questions and give you a booset when you need it. How much have you lost with Atkins? Much to go?
Melf, hope the chiropractor straightens you out. Glad you are feeling better. Thanks for the article. Very interesting, but I don't agree with the potato before bed either.
Fortytude, welcome back. I'm glad you found your way back and are ready to start again. Stay around longer this time.
Tranquil, Hope you are having a great day. It's a new week, let's kick some butt this week.
Country, glad you are controlling those snacks. Man you did get some bargains. Glad your kids are eating healthy too. 7 puppies how cute. ARe you keeping any?
Kim, I use lunch sacks for the popcorn. I always pop too much though. DD doesn't have to go to UK again tomorrow. Apparentlyit is pretyt bad there and their apt is still w/o heat.
Have a great night.

Nope we are not going to keep the puppies..well maybe one. But I need it like a hole in the head. They are little aussie pups...they are beautiful. They are right here by my computer desk. She had her puppies in the same room as me last time. As much as I ignore her(the moma) she loves me.
Zanne...the mexican squash was a newbie for me. It taste like zucchini. It's a fairly large size also. It's a light skinned squash with dark green in it. The flesh is like a yellow squash to me.
Yellow....praying about your surgery. You will LOVE the frozen patties. I can't wait till this summer when it's so hot and you just want a cool refreshing treat....aaaawww I bet that will be the bomb.
Monet...I was shocked at all the bargins yesterday. And it was actually decent looking...except the lettuce but I still picked one up. The tomatos are typical winter tomatos. I am gonna start some seeds this evening so maybe I can have some fresh ones come spring. My daughter ate all her candy also. Of course unlike us she can eat anything she wants without worry. There should be rules against that. :)
Kim...thank you. It's been hurting a little but nothing like it was. It did hurt to workout some and I was soooo tired so I only gave it have an effort toward the end...it felt like I was going all out. Glad I worked out though. It seems to set the pace for the week. I'm only working out about 3 times a week till the weather warms up and I can get out to walk and start mowing again.
You should be proud of all that painting. I need to paint the kitchen but I'm lazy. :)
Well the soup is done and I need to warm up their dinner. They get leftovers...well those who don't want the soup. Robert won't touch soup.
Love,
Crystle

I stayed legal today but had too many triscuits(about 20!). Supper was good, though. I made chicken "goulash". Everything legal. Very similar to TRANQUIL'S stew. Tranquil, how did your's turn out? Is the Progressive onion soup good(and legal)? Hubby loved mine, but I couldn't taste it due to this stinking cold I got. I'm gonna have to get better before I do a detox. I knew I shouldn't have stepped on the scale today. I have a very bad habit of weighing myself daily. I'm up several pounds but not going to do an official report until WIW- maybe it won't be as bad by then, lol. The weather today was only in the 30's but tomorrow it's supposed to be around 60..we'll see. I'm glad I'm not snowed in though!

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone:wave:
I was not able to get near the computer yesterday. The kids were at my house from about 7am til after 2am. Michael, who's never had trouble waking up in the morning is NOT waking up too easily at the moment. He fell asleep last night with the others working on the computer then they woke him up so he could continue working, well after 2am. This is a major project for the kids that they have to present today, which is not complete. One of the kids in the group went to Orlando and didn't do her part, which will reflect on Michael's grade. I hope something can be done about this!
Anyhow, I did want to get on here and say hello before I have to go and make his lunch and take them to school. I have a meeting back at the school ay 9am. Afterwards, I do hope to get back on here and do some sort of a regular post before I have to go get Michael from school (Lauren is staying). Have to go back later in the evening again to the school for a preformance Lauren is in - 4 times to the school today and unfortuntately, it's not around the corner.
Haven't had time to read the board, hope all is well with everyone. NEWBIES WELCOME - I'll reply to you all as well and give you my big SB WELCOME later on!;)
Anyone else glad JOE MILLIONAIRE picked Zora? I had hoped!:D
Have a great day!!

I just wanted to pop in say, yahoo!, my hubby is NOT being deployed on this go around, of course there may be another time, but at least we have him safe at home for the present.
I did fairly well yesterday, still reading the book, so there are a few things that are fuzzy. I may have my mother talked into to giving this a try will will make family gatherings easier.
Have a great day everyone!

Good Tuesday Morning,
Boy am I :tired: today. Don't know why. Went to bed at 10:30, actually slept all night and didn't even hear DH's alarm. Don't even remember kissing him goodbye. Got a lot to do today so I need to get over this tiredness soon. Guess I';; get some real coffee and see if that helps.
Still cold and icy here. Getting some sun and going to 40 today. Mayble some of this stuff will melt away. Rain for the rest of the week, but higher temps.
I made the ranch chicken that many of you suggested. It was really good. Everyone in the family like it (that is a miracle in itself). So if you haven't made it. give it a try.
Yellow, Hope your surgery goes well tonight. I hate that you have to wait all day and worry about it. If your DD has arrived, spend some quality time with her. Like Monet says, things happen for a reason.
Heartmom, Here's hoping that scale is better for you tomorrow.
Deb, I bet Michael crashes big time tonight. He's deserves it. I always hated group projects, there is always someone that doesn't do their part. It was always my kids getting stuck doing it too. Hope something can be done about it.
Kacie, So glad to hear your DH is not being deployed right now. I know that is a relief for you. Great getting your mom to doe this WOE. It will make it easier and it is fun to have a buddy to keep you on track. Good luck.
Monet, I can feel your frustrations. I had a store I needed to go to Sunday and it was the only time DD could go. We get all the way out there and they were closed due to the weather. If I was crazy enough to go out, they should have been open. Then the grocery was out of everything and had only 2 lines open to check out. It is so frustrating.
Country, those puppies sound adorable. I bet you would love to keep them all.
Need to get my day going here. Hope to check back later.

Morning all!
Sorry I didn't get on the board yesterday, but I left early for a trip to Birmingham with the communicant's class from the church. We got in about 8 last night I was was just too tired to fire up the computer!
It is cold in icky here this morning. I am thankful we don't have 2+ feel of snow on the ground like some of you do, but when it gets cold and damp down here--that cold goes right through you. I can't seem to get my house warm this morning!
Deb--I hope ds lets you on the computer soon! My only computer is a laptop and I love it! I know people who don't like them, but I get frustrated now when I get on a full sized keyboard! I guess it's just what you get used to.
Jackie--It sounds cold there--yuk! There is so much to do to get ready for a wedding--but it sounds like y'all are having fun!
Kacie--Welcome to the board! Uncle Sam's cereal is a good one to use--no added sugar and loaded with fiber. In the wintertime I also like to make oatmeal (don't use instant) or a piece of WW bread of peanut butter. This morning I hard boiled two eggs and ate them at my computer. There's lots you can do for breakfast!
Rosalie--It is good to see you back on the board. You know us well enough to know that perfection is not a criteria for this group!!!!! We all struggle, so come join the party
Mel--I hope you find your car soon! It is hard to imagine that much snow--let alone shovel it!
Zanne--I would stay away from a roast that has been cooked in Coke. I can't help but think that the sweet taste (if nothing else) may trigger sweet cravings. I would also think that the sugar would permeate the meat. I'm glad you like the bread recipe--it is light for WW isn't it? That reminds me--I need to go start a loaf when I finsih this.
Michelle--Welcome! I saw that Tranquil answered you questions. I'll take a stab too: I try to stay away from fruit juice--even the splenda sweetened although I don't think a glass each day will hurt you. I don't eat Luna bars--look at the sugar grams instead of the carb grams--Most bars have far too much sugar in them. Luna is one of them. I will eat them on occasion, but I choose the low sugar--like Atkins bars or Carbolite bars. They aren't the greatest tasting thing in the world, but they have their uses (especially when I'm traveling). Finally, I don't count calories either. There are differing opinions on this, some of us do and some of us don't. 1800 sounds about right, But Debbie is the authority on that, so I will defer to her judgement!
Mary--Thanks for the Sugar addicts article--except for the tater before bed--it all sounds good! I hope you are on the mend!
fortytude--It's great to have you back!
Sabrina--Hope you have a good, OP day today!
Country--Fresh veggies-mmmmmmm! Yesterday, walking around Birmingham I noticed buds on the trees. Spring will come, but it is sure taking it's sweet time (note to northeners--by this time of the year we are often seeing forsythia blooming, daffodials beginning to poke through the earth, and my azealeas often try to bloom in Feb. NOT THIS YEAR!
Kim--I LOVE cooking light. I used to watch it on Saturday mornings, but can't find it anymore. When is it on now? I have cooked with fennel, but never actually eaten it.
Yellow--I cannot believe they are going to do surery at 6pm! Will be thinking about you!
Monet--Sorry to hear about Harry's. Is the state farmer's market still in operation? I remember it having the widest variety of veggies I'd ever seen--but this was back when I was at UGA in the mid-80s.
Kaycee--Glad to hear the good news about DH!
Belle wants her snuggle time now so I'd better go. Have a good day everyone!

Well lunch today will be a chef salad with smoked turkey meat...breakfast was 2 T of cottage cheese, white part of hard boiled egg, and a small snack size string cheese...I was hungry and had nothing else :)
Deb - I too am glad he picked Zora! Yeah!!!! Goes to show playing "dirty" as the other one did at "bedtime" did not get her anywhere near a ring or money! I believe there might be a moral to Zora's morals ?? hahaha
Fillise - Stay warm!!!! and you too have a good OP day!!!!
JackK - Your body wants to stay inside warm and snuggly and hibernate!!! I will have to try that Ranch Chicken recipe too - have plenty of chicken to cook up in the freezer.... along with a gorgeous roast I had to buy, had the great urge for real meat!
Kacie - glad to hear your DH is not being shipped out :) Have a good day with your eating!!!
heartmom - the soup I got was legal - no sugars...the stew came out really good - my Gram came over last night and took a bowl of it home with her for dinner...and she loved it....It is almost gone now - so I can start on another recipe tomorrow.
Yellow Rose (Rosie) - give her a big hello and warm wishes for things to go well and to be over without a hitch!
Country - I am so glad you are not close by, hahaha, or I would see those pups and take 'em all home with me!!!! I can just imagine they are gorgeous little balls of fur!!!
Meesh - It can be an expensive way to eat - being healthy that is - just have to really start budgeting and planning ahead -
Well got to get going now....

Good Morning All
Thanks to everyone for the welcome back and words of encouragement. I woke up to about 2 inches of snow this morning. I was glad I didn't have to go out to work this morning. I planned on getting some chores done this morning like dusting, vacuuming, etc. I'm off to a late start as I slept in after working late shift yesterday. It is now noon and I haven't even had breakfast yet. I've been sitting at the kitchen table with my coffee and reading a travel brochure. I have a trip planned for the second week in March and I just picked up the tickets yesterday. I am going to Spain and Portugal on a bus tour. Am looking forward to that. Also looking forward to some warmer weather.
Gotta get back to the chores. Have a good day everyone.

Just a quickie to say hi to everybody!!! Things are wild as usual at work and I haven't had much time at all. Suffice it to say that the wagon has had to make a sudden stop at Casa Trish after this week-end. No details, but it wasn't pretty girls.
I don't have time to get to everyone but did want to post a couple of things.
Kacie - I saw on your first post that your husband is in the service. Which branch? My son is in the delayed entry program for the Marines and will go to recruit training in July. Needless to say Mom is a little anxious.
Lyn - We're thinking about you. Do what you're told and keep those pain pills coming!!
Sonya - See the above to Lyn.
That's all I have time for now, gotta run.

The soup came out WONDERFUL yestersday...but let me warn ya. Never eat three bowls of soup for supper. I thought I was gonna explode come 2 am last night..LOL But it was worth it. I just ate two bowls for lunch. I call it italian soup and I sprinkle parmesan on the top. The kids liked it so I don't have all the leftovers I had planned on. But that's okay..I don't mind sharing...much.:)
It's 67 outside and just wonderful. The kids are running in and out eating their pb and j sandwhiches. See we just need to run around while we eat. :)
Susan...the flowers here are starting to show so maybe ya'lls will soon. It's neat how nature knows to keep the plants protected till it's warmer.
Sabrina...I wish you did live closer...it's always so hard to give them away. We want to make sure they will be loved.
Hey Deb...busy woman! I hope the teacher adjusts the individual grades based on input so that your son doesn't get cheated in his grade.
Well, I told myself I wasn't gonna stay online all day so I guess I'd better get off for now. Oh and for those who have never seen my site..here is a shameless plug..:D I've recently moved it and spent days getting it up and running. http://circleoffaith.net/cmc/cm.html It's mostly graphics...a love of mine.

Hey All:wave:
Meeting went a lot longer than we all expected. Was going to just run around before having to go back to the school but after going to the HFS and buying some frozen foods, I decided to kill the hour or so and come home. So, with this hour, I'm going to try and catch up with the board.
I found out that Michael didn't go to sleep til after 3am. The kids that were here all weekend were all over the house, the kitchen (floors and table), my living room and the 4th bedroom-house is still a major mess-worse off than usual! They really worked hard on this project but Michael doubts they'll get an A. When some kids don't do their part of the project everyone suffers in more ways than one. He looks bushed beyond words and I'm sure when he gets home he'll go to sleep immediately. Sometimes he falls asleep in the car on the way home and I just leave him there if I can't wake him and it's not hot outside.
Had all intentions to get in a short walk before the meeting this morning but that idea got thwarted really quickly. As I was just going to start getting ready to put on my walking clothes the phone rings and it's Lauren's friend Brandon who she's been working with on a project for a few weeks. The project was so big, no matter how they tried, it wouldn't fit in his parents car, soooo, I had to throw on a house dress and get the kids out the door earlier because Brandon doesn't live near us at all and not on the way we usually go to school. Had to get him AND the project and take everyone to school, getting there a bit later than we usually arrive and thus getting home and not being able to get in my walk-just enough time to get in a shower and leave and still I was a few minutes late.
Got an e-mail from ELI'S nephew in Montreal who would like to come down and stay with us the first week of March:fr: Lord help me, the house is terrible, but a good incentive to clean it up. Will have to stick them in the family room since the kids have school and need the computer which is in the 4th bedroom. Hoping they can smuggle in some much loved Armenian sausages that we can only get up there-they are YUMMY!!!!
Okay, enough of my ho-hum life, let me get in some replies before I run out of time...
JACKK, good luck with your presentation tomorrow. What's it for? You'll have to get the recipe for those cheese straws, if you can. Sounds yummy! I do have recipes for those but have never attempted to make them.
KACIE, http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign1.jpg Glad you've come "on board";) If you get a chance, try to get MICHEL MONTIGNAC'S book, EAT YOURSELF SLIM from your local library, that book is where the idea for SB came from and will explain things in more detail and make a lot more sense. You will be surprised as you learn more and more about the foods we eat (or use to eat) and it will amaze you. Please, don't hesitate to ask questions, we're all happy to thrown in our 2 cents at any time! Oh, and congrats for DH not having to go, at least not yet!!!
ROSALIE, glad to see you back on the board, and that my nudge worked;) I know it's hard to see the scale staying the same, but I know when I see it go up and stay there, I have to really look at the big picture and see that I'm the one who's made it go up and is keeping it up. I think when we go through a tough time like that we have to really take a good luck and fess up to what we know we are doing wrong, over and over and over again. I know I have. I know I'll repeat mistakes made, but hopefully I learn something and maybe in time I'll find a way not to make this mistake, or at least not in the depth I have in the past. We have to stick this out and make it work and as you said, you do feel better and have more energy when you eat OP-that alone means a lot, the weight loss, as much as you'd like to see those numbers farther down, is secondary. I've put my scale away and won't be looking at it for another month! Glad to have you back!!!!:D
MEL, that trip to FL is sounding better all the time, I bet!!!
ZANNE, I think if you aren't actually eating the gravy, it would be okay, it's a coating on the outside and doesn't infiltrate the meat, just flavor coats it. Good job on the walking-seems you aren't having the snow they are in the upper US! Though, ELI'S nephew is complaining about it being too cold!
RENEE, http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign2.jpg How long have you been doing Atkins? There's quite a few people who have crossed over from doing Atkins for one reason or another, so you're in good company. To give you my 2 cents on the questions you asked. #1-I don't drink juice either, BUT, I did find a PURE CRANBERRY JUICE that is concentrated and when I put a Tbl or 2 in a glass of water, along with some sweetener, the grams of sugar is like 2 grams or thereabout. It's delicious and doesn't kill you on the carbs, or calories. #2 I too don't eat any bars, I use to buy the Luna bars, thought they were delicious, but there's stuff that's not SB LEGAL in them, though right now, I can't remember what they were - list the ingredients from one, along with the grams of sugar per serving and we can dissect it. #3 Your caloric intake is too low. To make it short, to maintain your current weight, being somewhat active, you'd have to eat approx 3000 calories. Many "experts" say not to lower that intake more than 500-700 calories, so if you went for the 700, you are still eating 500 calories less than you should, at least to start. You don't want to go too low because your metabolism will slow down. As you start losing with the higher caloric intake of say 2300 calories, you start lowering it little by little as the weight falls off. Not eating enough is just as bad as eating too much. You should try to get approx. 30% of your calories from fat/40% from carbs/30% from protein with keeping your starchy carbs down to 2-3 a day. I had to cut out aspertame about 2 years ago, it was affecting my memory. Splenda does a number on me as far as weight though. I chose Stevia as my sweetener of choice. There's a lot of other alternatives to a quick snack you can keep in your car, like ww crackers and a wedge of the lf Laughing Cow cheese, among others. Hmmm, sounds like you too are a bargain shopper!!!!
MELF, glad to hear you are feeling better!!! Thanks for posting that article. I have read it in the past and do agree with some of the stuff on there as well.
FORTY, welcome back!!!!!
TRANQUIL, don't I wish I could afford DSL! Unfortunately, that won't be happening any time soon. Then networking on top of that - not unless I get a job! Went to use the laptop and couldn't, kids were using the phone, then they took my plug to use on their computer and then Lauren came home and needed the laptop-it's always something!!!!! I can't wait til next week to see the MILLIONAIRE AFTERMATH. I really think those 2 will make a good couple. What a surprise for them to get the money-something they both really needed! I do think that Sarah did more than kiss the guy, esp when she was doing that tongue in mouth thing:s:
COUNTRY, you could never bore me with bargain talk, I love it! Yesterday I went to the GS and they had some of the things Michael eats, well, they rang up wrong and if they do, you get 1 of the items for free, so I had 2 different items, 1 I had 2 of, the other only one of and I got 2 of the 3 boxes free!!!! That's my kind of bargains!!! I loved frozen candy bars of any kind!!! Congrats on the new family additions, even if they are just temporary.
QUILTER, every time the news comes on they are talking about CIN and MD and DC-you really are getting socked up there! At least you had PAUL home on Monday to keep each other warm!
ROSE, I didn't think they would do surgery that late unless it was some type of emergency. I know you aren't allowed to eat after midnight when surgery is being done the next day - do they do the same when surgery is so late in the day??? Hope not! How did things go? Please tell DS to do a post when she can to give us an update!!!!!! Hope you are feeling better!!!!
MONET, I feel your pain about Harry's-it was soooo good when it was Harry's but when I met you there I was not impressed anymore, I miss the old Harry's!
HEART, gotta be careful with those Triscuits, it's so hard to stop at a few, esp. if they are plain. I haven't had them in so long, well, the ones I buy at WHOLE FOODS. I do like making them like a nacho though.
FILLISE, I do have the laptop but when I use it I have to plug in a keyboard, I hate the one on the computer, plus, I hate not having a mouse. THEN, I have lots of info stores on the desktop that of course I don't have on the laptop. I still have the old computer that got the virus in it with hopes of finding a way to somehow get some of the info that's left on it off of there-there was so much!
TONIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST!!! Unfortunately, I cannot attend. LAUREN'S preformance is from 7:30pm til 9:30pm and I won't get home til after 10:00pm. I hope those of you who are available will join others in there!!!
Reminder that TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!! I wish you all luck with the metal monster-I myself will NOT be stepping on the scale, I have put it away!!!!!!
Well, I have to go and make something to take to school when I p/u Michael to give Lauren to have for dinner later. She's just staying at the school because they need to be back by 4pm. I'll have made the trip 4 times to school today, glad it doesn't have to be 5!
If I missed anyone, please know, it's not intentional. I didn't even try to go back over last weeks board and pick up where I left off.
Will try to check in later if the computer is free, otherwise, I'll be on tomorrow morning!!
Have a great day!!!

Happy Tuesday everyone! Hope everyone is doing well & my sympathies to those that live in the Northeast. The terrible weather has been all over the news & all I can say is I'm glad I live in California. I could not even imagine living let alone driving in that type of weather.
Today is 3 weeks since I started SB. I have not had anymore weight loss since the first week. I'm still exercising though so that could be why. Am I being unrealistic to want to lose 17lbs by June? I get the impression that weight loss on SB is very slow so I don't want to have high expectations & be disappointed.
Kacie- Welcome to the board! I'm a newbie on this board too! So glad to hear your husband has not been deployed. My prayers & thanks go out to all of our brave military.
Michelle - Welcome to you too! I too am a former Atkid! I lost 32 lbs on Atkins but had to change WOE due to high cholesterol. I'll be interested to hear how you are doing as time goes on.
Deb- I was rooting for Zora too! She seems like she is a total sweetheart. I didn't care at all for Sara. I think Evan hit it on the nose when he said that she was more into Joe Millionaire than Evan Marriott. I'm sure if she had been picked she would have put on an act in front of the camera, but would have dropped him like a hot potato afterwards. Unfortunately, I can't help but think that he actually liked Sara more than Zora, but picked Zora because he didn't think Sara would stay with him after she learned the truth. Either way, I'm hoping it works out for Evan & Zora.
Well everyone stay warm! I'll try to send some sunshine out your way.:flow2:

Again, running out the door but wanted to get caught up first.
Fillise, You southeners aren't used to this cold so it is probably a lot worse for you. I have those days when I just can't warm up. I do contribute that to losing weight too. Not much insulation as before.
Tranquil, that was a strange breakfast, but I've had a few of those myself especially when the cupboard is bare.
Meesh, Good for you getting out to the gym. Have a good time.
Rosalie, what an exciting trip you had planned. I know you will enjoy it. Anything to get away from all this snow and cold.
Trish, the wagon will stop for you. Jump on here and hang tight. You can do it.
Country, Woh on all that soup. You will bloat up something fierce. It's amazing to find something everyone likes isn't it. I will have to check out your site in a few.
Deb, sounds like faithful Deb to the rescue. Tranporting kids and projects. I will post the cheese straw recipe. Our presentation is for a airplane hangar for Republic Airliens IF they come to Lou. Not even asure thing yet. All this work for probably nothing.
Letty, When I started SB I lost an average of 2-3 pounds a week. It depends on how much you have to lose. I had 110 so it went fast at first. Just hang in there and watch those inches fall away before the scale moves.
Hope to make it to chat, but not sure.
Have a good night.

I'm still in shock from digging out from our blizzard. I pulled a few muscles in my lower back, hip, side while throwing snow up onto 6' piles and am not sure what to do about LEGS workout tomorrow. Did shoulders, chest and tri's today and counted yesterday as cardio. Guess I'll just have to see what I can do without getting hurt more.
I'm also trying to get ready for about 50 people for dinner on Friday night. My daughter's lacrosse team will be playing U. of Pa. on Saurday, so we are hosting the entire team, coaches, trainers, and any parents local enough to come. I did it last year, too- It's a lot of fun, but a huge amount of work and there's all that FOOD! And a lot of it very not legal. The weather is supposed to be dreadful, so I'm not looking forward to going to the tournement on Saturday, but can't wait to see the girls!
Today I ran into an old friend at the gym who I hadn't seen in about 2 1/2 years. Her eyes went really wide when she saw me and she said "OMG, you're so tiny!" I don't feel very tiny, so I must have been pretty huge before. Also made me sad to realize how long it had been since we saw each other.
HELLO NEWBIES! Glad to have you here.
Gotta go eat- I'm starving as usual!

Jack-K...the soup doesn't make me bloat just the opposite...LOL it acts like a diaretic...I think it's the veggies that I use.
Melris....praying that your back feels better soon. Isn't so cool that your friend thought you were tiny even though you don't feel that way.
Deb...that is great. Free is always good.
Tonight is dart night. I sure hope it goes better than last week. I need to go finish dinner and pull these rollers out of my hair. Hope you all are having a super day.

hi everyone, i have just snuck a peek at the board and just wanted to say hi and let you know i am still hanging in there.
the divorce is going as well as can be expected we are striving for an amicable dissolution for whatever that is worth, but the main concern is for sarah and what is best for her. i did move into a nice little house in the same neighborhood the first of the month but alas no computer as yet. there is some technicalities involved since it is a work computer from tom's work, so i guess i will be going computer shopping because i feel lost withoout my sugarbuster fix!
i am doing great, and have lost 22 pounds since november1, not 100% sugarbusting legal but the weight is coming off and my clothes show it! so that makes a total of 42 big pounds since i started sept 2001! i have gone from a 22 to a very loose 18!!!!!
i miss all you guys and reading how everyone is doing, i will call you deb this weekend!
your friend,
chris

YO BUD'S!!!!
Just saw the the wildest things!!!! The state police were chasing someone in a pickup truck and when they finally got them stopped, it turned into a hostage situation...that took a little more time, and as the helicoptor was hovering above, the State police saw that the man was battering the woman....they finally got the woman out, and she was NAKED!!
they handcuffed her and took her up the side of the interstate to put her into a car...the man had a rifle, but they finally got him out and threw him to the ground..... NAKED!!! ..
Now, all this was caught on tape and the whole viewing area saw their BUTTS!!!!
ROSALIE....I bought 6lbs of Kale ...not 12 lbs...I cooked it and it actually cooks down to a 3 quart bowl...
I'm off to fix dinner...hamburgers tonight...YUMMY
Everyone have a great night....

BOB- I thought that was the start of another BOB joke- just another day in FLA, huh?
BKM- Nice to see you and hear everything's going as well as it can. How old is Sarah? I know your son is my dd's age, but can't remember your daughter's. Never easy with kids involved.
Yellow- You are probably all drugged up and dopey about now, but I'm thinking of you and sending {{{{hugs}}}}. But very gently.

Evening All:wave:
Just getting ready to leave and go to the school to see Lauren in her performance and thought I'd hop on and get in a quickie...
LETTY, your body may just be getting use to your new WOE and doing an internal adjustment. Don't worry, the lbs will start dropping again, just make sure you are eating enough. I have forgotten what your current weight is, so I can't really say if a 17lb loss by June is realistic or not. If you have a lot to lose, then yes, you could do so, but if you have 17 to go til goal, it may take longer. It took me from Feb to June to lose my last 10lbs. BUT, we're all so different, you could do it easily either way, you never know. The important thing to remember is that you move in the right direction and no matter what you lose by a certain date isn't important, the fact that you are eating healthy and feeling good is most imortant.
JACKK, yes, Mom to the rescue, as usual. Hopefully, one day, they'll appreciate it! Good luck again tomorrow, hope it's not for nothing though-you never know, I guess!
MEL, geez, would you stop hurting yourself already? Haven't you had enough?? Hmmm, I seem to remember the last big dinner you did for your DD's team - you are brave!!!! I'm sure that old friend was being truthful, you probably are really tiny. Come to FL and you can be well assured I'll tell you the same thing!!!
BIGK, looking forward to hearing from you over the weekend. Glad you found a way to get in a post. Hoping you get a computer soon!!! {{{HUGS}}} to you and SARAH!!!!:D
BOB, sounds like something that would happen here in Miami! I guess you got some excitement your way. Must of been some interesting :censored: going on in that car!
Okay, I'm outta here. Darn! Going to miss American Idol tonight. Awwwww poop!
Have a great nite y'all!

Hello everybody! Just got home and am sitting in front of a huge salad with two chicken thighs on top. It's so yummy. I decided to start typing in an effort to make the salad last longer. Can you envision this: Kim wolfing down the salad in 5 seconds and then being sad it's gone? That's what would have happened. LOL.
Incidentally, I did bite the bullet last night and watch Joe Millionaire. Oh my gosh, that one girl (the blonde) was so hateful and full of herself. It aggravates me to see women act so petty and mean. Does nothing for the team! I said all along the makers of this show wanted to show women in the worst light. Ugh!!! That kind of stuff makes me crazy. But the saving grace was that Jethro Bodene (that's what the girls at work called him!) made the right choice and picked the person with ethics. I was glad they got some money too. How cool. Now she won't have to heat her apartment with her oven.
YELLOW---I know you probably won't read this unless DD prints out the messages for you to read while recuperating. Just wanted to let you know I'm hoping and praying all turns out well. So sorry you had such a bad pre-op experience. Perhaps the post op care will more than make up for it. When I had my thyroid removed, I was pretty nervous. Every hospital person I came in contact with I would say, "You know this is thyroid surgery, right?" I was so afraid I'd come back with something else missing. You know I'm not bad mouthing hospitals, just explaining how neurotic I am. Ha!!!
MEESH---I know what you mean about the cranberry juice. Unfortunately, I like mine with a bit of vodka in it. Yikes! I don't do that much anymore. It's just not worth it. Hey, great buys at the store! WTG!!! Doesn't it feel great to get some bargains.
MONET---Man, you made me laugh out loud when you called us "earthlings." Too funny! I'm with you on the running all over the place to get the right groceries. I could stop at three stores every week if I had the time, but I don't. I wish there truly was a place that could be one-stop shopping that would offer all the great stuff in one place.
JACKK---Sorry that I'm being dense about this, but do you put 1 cup popcorn in the bag and then seal it up? How long do you nuke it for? Did Lexington ever thaw out? We're supposed to be in the 50's on Thursday. But of course, they are calling for more freezing rain tomorrow. Double icky ugh!!! Stay warm, friend. Do you think your birthday celebrations and all that dancing at the wedding finally caught up to you???? You are a year older now. HA!!! Just kidding you, pal!!! I have days where I feel like I've been hit by a truck and it makes no sense at all. Hope you are up and about more tomorrow. I think that's funny that you don't even remember smooching with your hubba bubba this a.m. Girl, you were out cold!!!
COUNTRY---I'm glad you are keeping a pup. The mommy will like having it around. I think it's sweet that your mama dog likes to be near you. Maddie girl is laying right at my heels between me and Paul. She couldn't get much closer. I'll bet your dogs love running on your land. Nice to be free for them. I'm so proud of you for not letting the pain stop your workout. I know we have to be careful in situations like that. But it doesn't sound like you did any damage to yourself. Sounds like it made you feel better about yourself for being true to the exercise. Way cool for you!!!!! Hey, thanks for the tip about running around while we eat. Sounds like a winner. But I can't imagine doing that in a restaurant. LOL
HEART---Glad to hear you had another OP day. Beware of the triscuit . . . it can do you in. I've been out for a few weeks and that's been a blessing. That box is just too darned easy to get into. Don't even think about the scale. Give yourself 2 good weeks of being diligent and then step back on. Truly, have hubby hide it and tell him to unhide it on a certain day. Like 2 weeks from tomorrow. That should help!!!
KACIE---So happy to hear the good news about your hubby. Now you can breathe a sigh of relief. Must be so hard for you all at times like this. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
FILLISE---You sure are a woman on the move!!! Girl, you don't let any grass grow under your feet, that's for sure. I'm surprised Miss Belle doesn't require you to show ID when you come in. LOL Maddie sure works her hardest to make me feel guilty every single time I leave the house. It tears my heart out some days. Sorry to hear the cold temps have reached even you. The only thing good about the cold weather is NO BUGS!!! So just think of all the bugs getting the noose on these cold days. (So sorry for any of you bug lovers out there.) Hey, I'm so glad there's somebody else who likes Cooking Thin!!!! I love it!!! She's on Thursdays at 5:30 and Sundays at 1 p.m. I think there's another day but I can't remember. I'm only home (usually) for the 1 p.m. show. I'd like to start taping the others just in case they aren't repeats of the Sunday show. I went onto her fan chat site at foodtv.com and she posts to that list. I was shocked. I hope it's really her and not just some secretary standing in for her. What she writes sure sounds like how she talks on the show. Check it out!
TRANQ----Sounds like you made a good breakfast with not much. Smart choice to "beef" up on the protein for breakfast. I'll bet you weren't that hungry at lunch since you'd had no starchy carbs. Thanks for the fennel description. Is it kind of like that one spice that tastes like licorice. I can't think of the name? Tarragon??? I'm not sure I would like it. Perhaps with the lime juice on it.
ROSALIE---Your morning sounds heavenly. Sleeping in late and reading about your upcoming trip. Have fun!!! I hope you all get to see lots of fun and interesting things.
TRISH----Did you know that BOB installed a horn on the wagon??? Three honks and you'll know it's us. Bring some extra rope. We're running low as some of need to be double belted for extra security!!!
DEB---I'm telling you, you'd better install a revolving door at your house. And start charging rent. Pretty soon, you'd have enough for a brand new computer all for yourself.
BKM----Oh it's so good to read your post!!!! I've been wondering about you. Have you talked to your sister about this horrible weather we are having up here??? You and Sarah need to come and bring some of the warmer stuff with you. Email me with your new phone number so we can catch up!!! I am so proud of you with your weight loss. I won't recognize you when I do see you. How great for you!!! How is Sarah doing? I hope she likes her new house and room.
BOB----Sounds like your viewing area got a good taste of our nation's CRACK problem!!!!! I can't believe they didn't even throw a blanket over that woman. Was she a bad person or a good person? Why was she in handcuffs? See, up here in this weather, NOBODY goes anywhere naked. Some mornings I don't even want to get in the shower naked. That's what living in the tropics gets you. Mooned!!!!!
Okay, I'm about ready to put on the old pajamas and fall asleep in bed. I will try and stay up for the chat though. Remember everybody, it's Tuesday night.
Wish me luck for tomorrow morning. My girlfriend, Jackie, and I are scheduled to start TMing at 6:10. She or I will call at 6:05 and make sure each is ready to rock and roll. We've never tried it this early before. She called me today at work at 9:30 while she was on hers. Said she was so used to hearing my while she TMed, that she just had to call and talk for a few minutes. That made me laugh.
Good luck tomorrow on WIW. Let's hear it for BIG losses and wee gains.
Later,
Kim

Checking In- I stayed legal today but didn't do that great. Anybody try Sweet Potato chips? I ate 3 servings, ugh and also had 3 triscuits with bean dip. Anyway, for supper we ate omelettes made with cheese and deer sausage- very good. Just hope the salt from the sausage doesn't make me puffy tomorrow. I don't watch shows like Bachelor, Bachorlette, Joe Millionaire- people can be so disgraceful. It's like, where has everybody's morals gone? But apparently the majority of America loves it. Okay, I'm getting off my soapbox now, lol. Hope everyone has a better WIW than I know I will. I'm still hanging in there- if only I could stay away from the starchy carbs I would be alright. Man, I just read my post and I didn't mean to sound so negative guys, really...

I've been away for a couple of days. I appreciate what all of you said to encourage me. And I'd like to welcome all of the newbies to this very informative and friendly board. The people here are very knowledgable and warm. So, again I say welcome.
We miss you Debbie and thank you, for setting things up for us.
I will get all of the names straight in a little while. Headed for the chat room.
Have a wonderful evening and those having cold, icy, snowy weather, stay warm. I live in Waterford, Mi., so I'm feeling the deep freeze.

Thanks for the chuckle tonight. When you talked about the restraunt..too funny. :D
I had a great night at dart. I started off Stinky with a capital S...but then the tides turned and I pulled off 16 above my handicap....:) We shot african big game tonight. I missed one crock...but the second one was mine...:) I wonder what next week will bring....pig...turkey....or the wild cats...we just don't know till we get there.
I did learn one lesson today...frozen or not frozen..candy is too much of a temptation....I only had one serving but I really wanted to not eat it two days in a row..okay it was three days but who's counting...LOL Over all eating has been the bomb though. Very happy with how normal and easy eating OP has been this year.
My mom is eating OP this week and her sugar is starting to come down..a majoy blessing. It was in the 400's earlier this week..so with the medicine and a good diet it's down under 200 now.
Hugs to all.

Evening!!!
Waiting for ELI to get home, still at work, so thought I'd get in a quick post before I give up on him and go to bed.
The show tonight was fabulous! If you ever see that THE YOUNG AMERICANS are going to be preforming in your area, go see them! I have to say, it was the best $5 I've spent! What a fantastic show. All college aged people, huge variety of song and dancing and wonderful talent. These are the "kids" that taught the 3 day workshop Lauren did. The show ran over 2 hours, with the first hour being just the YA group. After intermission the kids did their numbers with the group-I have to say, I was so impressed all the way around. Can you tell I enjoyed myself?:D
Sorry I didn't make it to chat tonight, we didn't get home til about 10:30pm. Will shoot for next week!
QUILTER, I don't know if the producers actually painted a bad pic of women on the JM show, though I didn't watch but a few episodes, toward the end, I think the women in general behaved badly, only ZORA seemed to be decent, I mean, that Sarah was awful, as well as Melissa. I was laughing after the fact because she thought she had it in the bag. Even funnier when she thought Zora fell off the turnip truck - paybacks are a *****!!!! Good luck on the TM tomorrow!!!!!
HEART, I have eaten the sweet potato chips in the past but don't anymore. When I realized what a serving was, vs. a real sweet potato, I ditched eating them again. It does nothing for me, a serving doesn't make a dent in my hunger at all. I do agree in most part about many of the reality shows and morals. I wouldn't allow Temptation Island ever to be put on in the house. Some reality shows are okay, others are awful. The new one where America picks 2 strangers and they get married, I won't be watching it one bit. Marriages are a joke these days, this sure doesn't help put it back on the right track! Now, AMAZING RACE, that one I love!!!!
AGAPE, I hear you made it in to the chat room tonight-hope you enjoyed chatting with the others that were able to make it. Keep warm!!!!!
COUNTRY, okay, you lost me at Stinky! Don't you just throw darts and earn points? I'm so confused with all the other stuff you posted!!!! CONGRATS to your DM!!! See, I always say, following SB has many more benefits beyond just losing weight!!!!
Okay, giving up on him and going to bed. Will check in in the morning!!!
NITE!!!

Dart for me is shooting a computerized image with my bow and arrow. We set our average with white tail scenes...the next week we shot elk...then bear and this week African big game. It's a lot of fun. We put special tips on the arrows and the computer picks up where it hits and scores you. I'm one of the lower scoring players but it's still a blast.
Thank you Heart.

Good Evening All
Well I have had a good SB day so far. I had oatmeal with frozen berries for breakfast, veal curry with the sauce thickened with bulgur wheat for lunch, ham with cauliflower and broccoli with parsley sauce and baked sweet potato for dinner. I sliced the sp thin and brushed it with a little oil, seasoned with salt and pepper and baked in the oven for about 30 minutes. It was yummy. Later this evening I cut up an apple, added some agave, cinnamon and nutmeg with a sprinkle of lemon juice and nuked it for two minutes. That was yummy too. No snacking so far to-day. Hope I can get to bed and to sleep before I get the munchies. Although I don't know what time I will be hitting the sack to-nite as I slept in late this morning. That usually means I will be up to about 2 a.m. at least. I think I will have to put some duct tape on my lips to keep them closed until bedtime. :)
Quilter - I have never seen the Cooking Thin show, but I will have to check it out. I have used fennel. It's one of the spices I sometimes use when I make curry. It has a similar taste to aniseed. I just went to the Foodtv website to check out that recipe for fennel chicken. I see the fennel she uses is a vegetable, not the seeds which is what I use in curry. I've never used this. Good for you staying on track for almost a month. That's a real achievement. Hope you are seeing results on the scales. If you haven't yet I am sure you will soon. I have tried keeping track of what I was eating, either in a journal or on Fitday, but I find it very time consuming and it didn't make any difference in the results. Now I am concentrating, once again, on protein, veggies and fruit but keeping the starchy carbs down. In the past that has been the only way I was able to lose. I am really hoping and expecting some results soon. I just have to stop all the little nibbles I have during the day, or more often in the evening. As I said above, I need to zipper the mouth shut in the evening. :D
YellowRose - Hope the surgery went well and you are on the road to recovery.
Monet - I've never had my thyroid checked. Maybe I should ask my doctor to order the test the next time I see him. I don't usually go for annual physicals, the last one I had was almost eighteen months ago, on 9/11. Can never forget that day. But I have to go and see him soon to get a prescription for some cream for a rash I have. So that will be a good opportunity to ask him about the thyroid test. Glad to hear that you are beginning to lose again.
Jack-K - I've tried journalling before, but it didin't make any difference. (See my post to Kim above).
Heartmom - Those triscuits are so hard to resist. Once I start on them I keep at it. That's why I don't buy them anymore. I've got no willpower.
Deb - Hope Michael's marks don't suffer because of other team members not pulling their weight. That would be very unfair. I never did like those group activities when my kids were at school. There's always someone who doesn't want to do their share of the work. Glad to hear you are keeping off of the scale. I think I will do better if I keep off for a while. I'm trying to get it down to once a week. Maybe if I make an extra effort to stay op for a whole week without any cheats and watch the serving sizes I may see results. At least I am hoping. I think when I am weighing every day and don't see results I get ticked off and then go and eat something I shouldn't. Or when I do go down a little it's like a licence to just have that little bit more. Then you are back where you started from.
Kacie Glad to hear that your dh is not being deployed. This must be a really scary time for you.
Letty - When I started sb I lost 10 pounds fairly quickly, then stalled for a while before I started losing again. I have lost a total of 40 pounds since starting sb. I've been stalled again for longer than I like but I have stuck mainly to this woe and have been able to maintain, which certainly beats gaining. It's quite common to lose 1-2 pounds per week. This would be a good weight loss and at this rate you could be rid of 17 pounds by June. Just hang in there and keep op and you should see results. You may find you lose more slowly than you did on Atkins but I think this is a much more healthy woe and if you keep at it you will see results. If you lose it slowly you will be more likely to keep it off. Good luck.
Mel - Maybe you need a rest from exercise after all that shovelling. Hope your back is feeling better to-day. We were luckier this time, just had a couple of inches this morning. It doesn't seem like a year ago that you were hosting the lacrosse team and here we are again. That must be a lot of work. Hope you get some help with the cooking.
BKM - Good to see you posting and glad to hear that things are going as well as can be expected. You've done well to lose so much in just 3-4 months. Doesn't it feel great to get into those smaller sizes?
Well, I have been sitting here long enough. Have to go and setle down with a book. Nite all.
Marie.

Hi all -
Rosie here again (aka Yellow Rose's dd)!
Great news. Mom came through with flying colors:)
I just got home from the hospital (it's 1:50 a.m. here) and dad is spending the nt. Figured I better get a couple of hours sleep so I could relieve dad tomorrow.
She is doing well, looking great, in a lot of pain and so glad it's over I can't tell you.
We had a really full day keeping our minds off of things. We had a small set back today when the doctor called and wanted to see her (yes, on the day of her surgery)! Seems he failed to mention that her collar bone was so far apart that he might have to take a chunk of her hip to fill in (which would be more painful than the collar bone repair and take as long to heal). Needless to say, we worked REALLY hard to keep our minds off of the surgery (of course, we did that by shopping like any self-respecting women would do):) But, blissfully enough the surgery gods were smiling on us and he did not have to go into the hip area.
Sorry to be going on and on. She'll have more I'll type for her tomorrow. Thanks so much for all the well wishes and prayers - they mean more than you know.
Rosie
P.S. Yes, she is even staying SB legal in the hospital (I know that those of you who know her well are not surprised)!

Okay, here's a quickie!!!
First and foremost, thank goodness for YELLOWROSE's good report on the surgery. We are all sighing a huge thank you prayer for you YELLOW!!! Take care, honey!!!
Second, I did it!!! Got up at 5:50 and on the TM by 6:10. Jackie joined in at 6:12, so that 30 minutes flew by.
Third, WIW report. I lost TWO POUNDS SINCE LAST WEDNESDAY!!!! That makes a total of SIX since 1/23/03. I'd do a carwheel if I could get this big ole' hiney up in the air that far! LOL.
Good luck to all of you today . . . in your eating AND your weighing! Have a great day.

I just weighed in and now I have a question, my weight was 222, I have gained 6 (!?!) pounds since Sunday! That is so wrong! But I am wondering about all the veggies I have been eating in the last few days, my body is not used to fiber yet, could I be weighing that too? Anyone else report a weight increase in the first few days of being legal?
I haven't given up yet, just a little disappointed, I actually did well going out to dinner last night, passed on dessert, although I did have one bite of my dd sunday.

Well, Harry's gets another strike against it. Something is funky with the flour I got at the grind your own station there the other day. I made two batches of bread yesterday, and both turned out strange. I noticed a bag with an Arrowhead Mills logo on it, torn open by the flour grinder. There was no Prarie Gold left, only the red wheat in bags. I am thinking they substituted a different grain for the Wheat Montana. I told Tom last night that I was going to order a 50# bag of the Wheat Montana and buy a grain mill!
My daughter is home sick today. I am a bit concerned. Her good friend has mono..and the symptoms she has are frighteningly familiar. If she doesn't feel better soon, we may be making a trip to the doctor for a Mono spot test.
YELLOW: Thanks so much for the report! Glad to hear they did not need to take bone from the hip and you are doing well! You continue to be in our prayers! Keep us posted!
QUILT: Way to go on the two pounds! That is wonderful! Congrats! I have not gotten on the scale yet... Guess I am putting it off.
COUNTRY: Dart sounds like a lot of fun! I would love to get back into archery! That is wonderful about your mom and her blood sugar!
ROSALIE: Way to go staying on program! I hope your doctor will do the thyroid test. Make sure you ask for the specific results. Your TSH should be between .5 and no more than 3. The old range went up to 5.5, but for many that is way too high. I was a slug at 5! My doctor keeps mine around .5 to 1, and it sure helps. If yours tells you that you are ok and your TSH is above 3, let me know. I can tell you where to find articles to show him on recent research that shows the top end range for women needs to be at 3.
HEART: I have had the sweet potato chips. I like the mesquite and the jalapeno, but I try to avoid them. I could eat the whole bag, and then I feel sick from the oil. There is just no substitute for a potato chip, so I have given up trying! ;)
DEB: That group sounds great! I hope the project went ok for Michael's group. I hate those group projects. I think it is a poorly researched educational theory that ought to be dropped. It seems there is always one bum in a group that ruins it for everyone else...
BKM: Good to hear from you! Hope you can get a computer and get on more regularly. I am sure this is not been an easy time for you, and I am so impressed that you have lost so much! I would have been eating out of stress and gained.
MEL, don't hurt yourself shoveling!
Where is Gracious?
Hope all of you northerners are doing ok, and not snowed in too bad! Be back later!

It's been one of those days and it's only just after 9am!!!!
I'm not doing WIW cause TOM came early and is really bad making me feel rotten.
The phone rang at just after 8 this morning. our phone usually doesn't ring that early. I'm thinking something happened to DH at work (He's an electrician and has told me some wild stories). Turns out it is the property management from the place we have the house we're fixing up. There has been water pouring out of the garage of our house all night!!!!! I rushed DS to get ready for school and we scooted over to the other house (thank goodness it's not far from home or his school). I dropped the garage door opener and it smashed into pieces. Got in the house and turned off the water, looked thru the house--thank goodness the pipe didn't break anywhere inside--then checked the garage. A piece of pipe in the garage had broken at a joint. I think it's something easy DH can fix. Our water bill is going to be GIGANTIC the way the water was coming out. Then I had to get DS to school. We made it on time.
I just want to run around the house yelling "AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!" to get my frustrations out. At least I'm not eating off plan and I AM starting the day over by having another cup of coffee!!!!
I did have a little cheat yesterday. I really wanted chocolate (hormones I guess) so I had about 10 chocolate chips. Not whole cookies, I just poured some chips from the bag and ate them!
Ok, enough of that. Thanks for letting me vent!
YELLOW--Glad to hear the surgery went well and that they didn't have to take any hip bone. I wish you a quick recovery.:grouphug:
MONET--I was wondering about GRACIOUS too cause her neck of the woods was supposed to get that awful storm the NE states had. I missed the news yesterday, so I don't know how hard they were hit.
GRACIOUS--Are you ok? Did you get the storm really bad?
Ok, I've gotta go have my coffee and calm down a bit. Have a good day all!

Good morning All
I'm pleased to report that I am down 1.5 pounds this morning to 198.5. It feels great to be below that stubborn 200 mark.
YellowRose - So glad that your surgery went well and they didn't have to remove some hip bone. Thank's Rosie for giving us the report. :grouphug:
Monet - Thanks for all the thyroid info. I'll let you know if I get it done, although I am a bit of a procrastinator when it comes to doctors, unless I am really sick. Sorry to hear about your daughter being sick. I will keep my fingers crossed that it is not mono.
Quilter - WTG girl. Good to hear that the pounds are falling off.
Kacie - I don't know why you would gain if you are eating op but if you have just changed from Atkins I guess your body needs time to adjust. The gain could be from fluid retention if you have just started eating carbs. Even if you are eating low carb veggies it is probably still more than you were eating on Atkins and your body may need more time to adjust. Are you drinking enough water? You asked if your body could be weighing the fibre. I hope you are not retaining it all. The fibre should help to keep you 'regular'. When do you usually weigh yourself? I always weigh first thing in the morning before eating or drinking anything. If you weigh any other time of day you won't get a true picture of your weight as it always fluctuates during the day. Why don't you post a typical days menu so we can see what you are eating.
Zanne - Sorry to hear about the bad start to your day but thank heavens there was no damage to the house. Hope the rest of the day goes well for you.
Gotta go and have breakfast.
Have a good day everyone.
Marie.

Good Wednesday Morning,
Just have a minute, I have to go bind all these presentation books. But I had to read the board to get me going today.
Sorry I missed chat last night. DD was on the computer. I feel like Deb, but mine only seems to use it on Tuesday nites.
Surprisingly, the scale was down 2 lbs today. I have seen a new low. Just striving to get it in the 150's by the end of the month.
Mel, Be careful shoveling all that snow, you will be flat on your back if you aren't careful. Just what do you serve dinner for 50? That sounds like a lot of work just for you. I'm glad you enjoy it. I too run into people I haven't seen in awhile and they remark about how thin I am. I'm with you, I sure don't feel thin. Do we ever get over that feeling? Of course they are seeing me in black pants and a sweater. Good thing they can't se me w/o clothes!
Country, glad the soup has a good effect on you. I probably use too much salt. Your idea made me go home and cook up a big crock-pot of veggie soup. Hope it turns out ok. I can't control the SF candy either so I don't buy it anymore. Great news about your DM sugar. That is a big drop. Congrats on your good eating. It does get easier.
BKM, I'm so glad you got to sneak in a post. We have missed you. Glad things are going ok with the "D". I'm so glad you have your DD best interest at heart. WOW 42 pounds is awesome. Keep up the good work. Isn't it fun to get into another size (costly though). Hope you get another computer soon so you can join us on a regular basis.
Bob, was that a movie you were watching. You watch so many you might get them confused. What a funny story.
Deb, Glad to hear Lauren's performance was a success. Great bang for your buck.
Quilter, Gosh I don't measure the popcorn I put in the bag. Just pour a little in and I have a popcorn setting on my microwave so I just use that. Sorry I'm no help. I would guess about 2 minutes just stand there and listen until it quits popping. I spray it with Pam and then add lite salt. DD went back to Lexington last nite around 8:30. She said she has never seen anything like that. ALl the power lines and red lights are hanging really low. She said everything is covered with a big blanket of ice. She got power back in her apt last nite, but my sister who lives in Georgetown does not and they say it could be another week. They are getting really cold. They can't get out b/c of trees down in the road. Luckily she has a gas stove so she can cook. My dad lives with her and he is sitting around in a sleeping bag and toboggan. I told her to get pics. It is raining here, not much ice in it. Heard you all were getting more ice and snow today. Sure hope not. Come on Spring. Yes, I am getting old. I was asleep last night by 10:30. The weekend probably did catch up with me. WTG on that 2 lbs. You are on your way and nothing will stop you this time.
Heartmom, if that sausage bloats you up, just keep drinking water.
Agape, Hi, Hope you are doing good.
Rosalie, hope you can find duct tape now. I hear it is pretty scarce since we are supposed to use for homeland defense. Your dinner sounded great. WTG on the 1.5 pounds. Isn't it a wonderful feeling to kiss that 200 # goodbye. Never to see it again. I'm so glad the scale moved for you.
Rosie, Yellow Rose, Thanks for the update on your mom. Glad she is doing ok. So glad they didn't have to use part of the hip. Take good care of her and keep us posted. Good for her staying OP in there.
Kacie, it is strange that you would be up 6 pounds. It could be hormones, water, etc. Don't let it discourage you. I bet in the next day or two it will be right back down.
Zanne, you really do need to go back to bed and get up again. How horrible about the water pipe and all the other things. So glad you didn't turn to food to console you. Hang in there now. Just get a new start.
Need to get busy. Congrats to all the losers today. All others, Keep hanging in there. It works.

Hi, sorry this will be a real quicky, but on my way out the door for my mammo today, then my youngest dd has a gyn appt at 2pm. I'm scheduled to go back to work from 7p-11p,we'll see :( then back at 7am -3pm tomorrow.
Just wanted to check in for news of YellowRose. Rosie, thanks for the good report! So glad that the doc didn't have to use hip bone for repair. Seems like he should have mentioned that fact before the day of surgery! Well, maybe he just didn't want to make her more anxious! Anyway, Lyn, hope you are back home today & tolerating the pain well with your little pills! :grouphug:
Deb, saw your post about Michaels' project. Hope he gets a fair grade. Sure not right that all have to suffer for the poor participation/consideration of others!
See you'll later!

I am not weighing in - will weigh in next Wednesday, and I got approval from our Detox Dungeon Mistress/Queen Deb :) I just know the scale will not be good to me and I don't want to be unhappy... But I have made the commitment to myself and the board that starting Monday I will belong to the Exercise Board...no more sitting around doing nothing....
Yellow (Rosie) - I am so thrilled to hear she made it through ok and they did not have to get bone from the hip - I know people who have had that procedure done to repair spinal injuries and it sure did make them miserable - so yippee on the good news!!! Just now wishing her a speedy and easy recovery.... Nice to know she has such a wonderful support there for her at the hospital!!! Meanwhile, I can imagine her being strictly SB legal with her eating - she was so good while we were in Orlando!!!!
Kacie - Be careful about how much you eat...when I first started I found myself just over eating on the good stuff causing the weight to go the wrong way or not go at all....what I ended up doing was keeping a log of everything in my mouth, then I posted it privately to Debbie and she helped me out a lot!!!! I was back on track and lost quite a bit of weight, along with the exercise I was doing helped too. Good luck to getting back on track :)
Zanne - Oh gosh!!! Sorry to hear you don't feel good, but thankfully it will be gone next week and you will be back to feeling better and better! What a mess with the water! Will your utilities company take into consideration if you report a broken pipe and give you a break? Ours will...but you have to fill out a form.
Monet - what a pain in the rear about your flour, too funny about getting a grain mill - hahaha!!!! Hope that your daughter just has virus and not mono!!!!
Quilter - YAHOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Great job with the TM in the morning!!! You are doing so great - Congrats on the loss- you must feel like you are on Cloud 9!!!
Rosalie - You ate like a SB Legal Queen!!! Sounded so yummy!!!! I love anything curry!!!
Country - That sounds like a lot of fun - the African Safari would be a real hoot....
I have to work now - boo hoo - and for lunch I am going to have ham and cheese and mustard on sf ww bread...for breakfast I had some cottage cheese because that was all there was - other than bagels and pastries in the office :yikes:

Well, let's just get WIW out of the way for this week. I'm up 2 pounds, not surprising considering the marathon eatfest I had this week-end. Eating has been good since Monday when the wagon rolled around, though. Monday night was pork chops rolled in Triscuit crumbs and baked (really yummy) and last night was tacos for the kids and taco salad for hubby and I.
BKM - so glad to hear from you. Sounds like you're going to make it through things just fine. Congrats on the loss.
Rosie - Give your mom some soft hugs for us. Glad things worked out alright with the surgery. I am not the least bit surprised she's OP in the hospital. Ask her to tell you about the "Got Milk" picture at WDW. The rest of us were delicately sipping our milkshakes to get the mustache and she was painting it on her upper lip, lest one iota cross her lips!! It was hysterical.
Crystle - Yum, your soup sounds really good. I may have to make a big pot this week-end. Do you every do soup in the crockpot?
Letty - I know what you mean about not living where it gets that kind of extreme weather. I just love Central Texas for that reason. Right now it's 62 degrees. A couple of weeks ago, we got a light dusting of snow and the next day it was 70. Where is Corona in California?
Mel - Be careful. How's the ankle doing? You don't want to hurt yourself again. Yikes!
Bob - I can't believe that was going on down there on the TV. I guess they'll do anything for ratings!!
Quilter - I love Cooking Thin! Actually, I love the Food Network period. That woman is so helpful and actually gives practical advice. I've never had fennel other than in the seeds. I would think that the fresh vegetable would be milder. I've seen a lot of people slice it up and put it in salads. Might have to try one sometime.
Heartmom - I know how you feel with the starchy carbs. The crispy salty things are my downfall. I'm with you on those types of shows (although I must confess to being a self-proclaimed Survivor junkie).
Deb - Glad you enjoyed the show. I remember seeing a group that sounds a lot like that when I was a kid called Up With People. Anybody else remember them? They were terrific.
Rosalie - Will you come cook for me. Your menu for yesterday sounds yummy!
Monet - Hope your daughter is alright.
Kacie - Hang in there. Everybody is right. It could be a jillion things. Just keep doing what your supposed to and make sure you're drinking enough water. That's one of my downfalls.
See you guys later.

Oh, yeah, I forgot a question I wanted to ask. DH and I are thinking of buying a treadmill. Those of you that have them, what kind do you have and do you have any recommendations? Any features that you have that you love or features you wish you had? Thanks a bunch.

Hi everyone. Steven (son) and I drove to Ohio for a long weekend and then got stranded in the snow. So it was an exciting trip NOT! I read the WIW posts so congrats to everyone who is down. I didn't officially weigh again. I was sort of legal on my trip, but it is hard when eating at someone's house. It's good to hear from Rosie that the surgery went well. I will check in later.
I tried to post my pic but it said the file was too big. Is there anyway to shrink it?

Good afternoon all!
Yesterday was a good day. I had 30 minutes of circuit training and an hour of very hellish but excellent yoga. The flow of the asanas was so intense despite the postures themselves being gentle. It was all very good. Well until I came home and a friend stopped by and we ate pizza. But life happens.. you get up in the morning and get back on.
I have a question again for Deb, I dont know if I can get that many calories in and stay OP. The fastest way for me to get calories in has been peanut butter.. but is so high in fat.
As far as ratios, mine are ok.. its hard keeping the fat to 30%.. mine is usually in the 40-50% range.. I think thats a lingering atkins thing and will take time to get down and product replacement (ie leaner bacon or turkey bacon, less mayo or light in the tuna, etc)
Would anyone be willing to help me break down the calories into portions? Id like t make myself a worksheet that I can check off like in the old days of protion counting. I get a bit confused on the carbs aspect.. because from the atkins mindset... fruit, milk, and grains are ALL carbs.. so Id like to break say 2000 calories down into portion servings.
And where do you find the cran concentrate? I dont drink a lot of juice..its like a rare treat. A bottle lasts me well over a week.
Do many of you use the exericise board? I exercise frequently.. and Id like to moan and groan with others *giggle*.
As far as WIW 255.5. So lets see what next week brings.
Thanks again for all the support.
Rosalie

Quilter Do you mind if I add a word of warning about the popcorn. Please don't put a whole cupful in the microwave. You'd have enough for a party if it didn't blow the door off of the microwave first. Years ago when I used to make it in the frying pan I only used about 2-3 tablespoons at the most and that made a big load. Now I buy it in the package ready to microwave. The ingredients are only corn, soya oil and salt. Very easy.
Jack-K Another two pounds gone. WTG. I'll be rooting for you to get below the 150 before the end of the month. I am sure you can do it.
Melf - Hi. Don't work too hard. Those short change-over shifts are the pits. :(
Tranquil - Sometimes it is good to keep off that darn scale. Good luck for next Wednesday.
Trishaloo - Sorry you didn't have good results on the scale to-day. But if you stay on that wagon I am sure you will get good results next week. Just hang in there.

Good WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY Afternoon!
:^: Ummmm, I slept late today. Well, not actually, I did take the kids to bed and THEN I went back to sleep and boy, it seems my body needed it, I slept til about 10:30am and I'm still tired!:tired: What's with this crapola? Oh well, now I'm up, well, sorta, and here to post while I have a few minutes. Waiting for brunch to cook - chicken pot pie - I think I'm growing fond of it, and what the heck, I can make it!!!!;)
I do have a few things I was supposed to accomplish today. I'll be happy if I get in a few. Tomorrow is another day. ELI is off tomorrow so I can run around where needed. Hoping my sister will p/u the kids from school tomorrow so we can go up to Broward. It's an early release day for them so if not, I have to stay down close to home.
For those of you who are NEWBIES when you get a chance, would love for you to post your BIO on the BIO BOARD so we can learn more about you. Of course, nothing is mandatory on this board and if you don't want to, you don't have to. I do send out e-mails periodically and take e-mails from the BIO BOARD, so if you see me mention something about that and you didn't get one, this is the reason;)
COUNTRY, thanks for clarifying your sport for me, I thought I really wasn't getting something there! Where do you go to do that?? Liked your gif images. Did you make those, or are those ones you've collected?
ROSALIE, CONGRATS on getting down into old numbers again!! I know what you mean about the scale and not seeing results, another reason I hid mine for now. Just remember, when you do get on the scale and should you see a gain, or no loss, it doesn't mean that either is right, could be for many reasons and if you are to get on the scale the next day, you'd probably see a loss. I guess that's why we get on the scale so much, we do really care about seeing those numbers. For now, for me, I'm concentrating on how I feel and don't plan on getting on the scale until March 22, my 3 year SB anniversary. I got hungry reading your lunch menu-sounds delicious, well, minus the curry, can't stand it, hate the way it smells and makes you smell (don't get me wrong, not saying that YOU smell).
ROSIE, thanks for the update about Mom-we all really appreciate it!!! Glad to know all has turned out well. Thank goodness they didn't have to touch her hip, esp. since this wasn't explained well in advance, I think it would of been worse if they had to do that. Oh, I certainly do believe DM stayed OP-that doesn't surprise me in the least. Please tell her that we all send our love and good wishes for a fast and easy recovery and that we are thinking about her. Tell her I'll try to give her a buzz sometime this weekend to see how she's doing. Thanks again!!!!:D
QUILTER, WTG!!!! CONGRATS GIRLFRIEND!!! All the hard work, all the dedication, the attitude, it all shows. Good job on getting on the TM at that unsightly hour! Have to admit, I did visualize you doing that cartwheel - one day girlfriend, when you hit goal, you will!!!:D
KACIE, okay, there's quite a few reasons why you could gain numbers like you had, but let me first say, if you have been eating OP, it's not fat, so not to worry. First, how long ago did you come off Atkins before starting SB? If it's like, right away, this could be from your body adjusting to carbs again-a reason so many people gain the weight they've lost back when going off Atkins. Another could be hormones, whether it be TOM or mid-cycle. Stress - I gained 6 lbs a few times for no reason other than stress. Another 2 times, it was from SPLENDA overload-the maltodextrin in it and in the quantities I had did a number on me, or should that be numbers? What did you eat? Are you drinking enough water? Eat anything salty? Are you eating enough? It could be one or more of these reasons, or a reason I didn't list, but if you are eating OP as directed, you WILL lose weight. Be patient (I know, it can be hard sometimes) and the weight loss will show. If you want, you can e-mail me a menu for a day and I can take a look and give you my opinion. Debelli@AOL.com
MONET, Harry's doesn't have a clue what they are in for if you aren't happy! I'd definitely complain. With all the baking you do, you definitely KNOW your stuff-they can't pull a fast one on you, that's for sure!!! Hope your DD feels better, you def. don't need another bout with mono in your home, that's for sure! Hope it's not that.
ZANNE, sorry to hear about the mess at the other house. Thank goodness though, it was in the garage. My aunt had a hose burst in her kitchen to the ice maker in her ranch home, kitchen is on the top floor - entire home ruined! I am always fearful that my hot water heater will break when I'm not home, or that I won't know. I've thought about getting one of those alarms that sounds when water hits it-they're cheap and would probably put my mind at ease about it. I'm impressed, that cheat wasn't bad at all. Only 10 chips ain't going to hurt, but I can tell you, this girl wouldn't of stopped at 10 chips, so even though it's a cheat, I'm impressed!!!!
JACKK, CONGRATS on your loss this week AND for reaching a new low!!! How many pounds does that make now? Can you taste those goal numbers yet???? How'd the presentation go?
MELF, good luck with the boobie smashing today - please let us know when you hear the results, of course, I hope all goes well.
TRANQUIL, always fun to speak with you! Still wished you lived closer. I'm sure, come Monday, you'll have that exercise spark inside you and besides, if I don't see a message when I get out of the yoga class, well, you know you'll be hearing from me!!!:fr: All the good you are doing with staying OP is only going to be enhanced by your exercising. It's hard to get back in to the routine of doing it, but you know that you feel so much better when you do exercise. You just have to get bitten by the bug on Monday.
TRISH, glad you got back on the wagon, just a detour, not too bad. You now have me thinking about making some pork chops tonight. I have bread crumbs from whole grain bread that I made LONNNGGGG ago and have actually made pork chops with that are to die for, so maybe that's what I'll do for din-din. I remember the name UWP, but never saw that show. I think this group has been around since the 60's or 70's. I'd go see them again, for sure. Cant give you my 2 cents about a TM as I used mine mostly as a clothes hanger before giving it away. You may want to check epinions.com though.
LIN, glad to see you back, safe and sound. Doesn't sound like fun, having to drive in that kind of weather. You should of come south!!!!;) No snow here! If you can't upload the pic, you can send it to me and I can try and get it loaded for you, if you want. Debelli@AOL.com
RENEE, I have taken 1 yoga class and will be at the next on Monday. It's HATHA yoga, probably something so easy compared to what you sound like you are doing. I have to buy a yoga mat and a strap. Maybe you can answer this one, what are the yoga blocks used for? I can easily break down the food groups for you, it's actually quite easy. For 2000 calories you should try to get approx. 200 grams of carbs/ 65 grams of fat / 150 grams of protein. You can lower the fat and/or protein a tad and up your carbs if you need. Again, this is just approximates and please do remember, this is just my opinion. I don't claim to be an expert, but I hope I've learned a few things through the years;) As for the pb, pb is fine, but as with everything else, moderation is the key. I acutally do post on the exercise board but haven't done much the last 2 weeks, otherwise, I use to post 5-6 days a week back when. Will be trying to get back on track next week-I do miss it (most days).
Gotta run, it's late and I haven't done a flipping thing but sleep in. Terrible thing is, I feel like I could fall back asleep at the drop of a hat!!!
Will try to check in later!!

I'm getting to where I really dislike WIW...down a pound or the same this week...the scales can't make up their mind.
Lin...if you email me your picture I will resize it for you. rseven@txucom.net Do you want it for the avitar or to add at the bottom?
Trish...I don't use the crockpot because it isn't big enough. The kids and I can lay some hurt on a good pot of soup. The last pot I made is history. I just ate the last of it for lunch. I would have eaten more but there was none left.
Deb....we shot at the bow shop. I was suppose to go to an outdoor 3D shoot last Sunday but I didn't feel well. I know I can do it but I still feel a little chicken going for the first time. Thanks...I'm not sure what images you are talking about..but I take graphics that I find and use them in my own work. I also mouse draw some stuff...not too good at that yet. I don't take anyone's completed work and use it. Hope that made a little sense.
Yellow....Praise God you are doing so well. Thanks to your DD for the updates.
WTG Jackie...you are doing so good.
Love,
Crystle

Debi.
The blocks are GREAT. Ifyou are in a pose and you cant quite get to it - say Triangle.. place the block next to your foot and reach for that instead of the floor. Your body stays in great alignment and you get the maximum beneift of the pose.. without strain or "bopping" to get to a reach you cant get to.
If you get ayoga mat, do yourself a favor and get a thicker one. Stay away from the cheapo 2 mm ones. Yoga is a total investment in YOU and your state of being.
I made an appt with a dietician next week and she said she is ok with 40-30-30 and wont push lowfat for me. So we are gonna work together (is she is nice) and hopefully get this weight moving.
Thanks so much
Michelle

I don't much like Wesnesday's anymore either. Scale is NOT moving- I'm still up 6 pounds from my lowest. Eating has been good, and lord know's , I exercise! Am begining to wonder about hormones, since this happened so quickly and inexplicably.
Heartmom- I'm with you on the "reality" shows. I don't watch any of them. They either dont make much sense ( why would someone DO that!) or are so embarassingly degrading I can't make myself look. Basically, I watch CNN and ER and glance at the hockey games when dh is watching. Not much of a TV person.
Quilter- Way to go ! Please send some of you good influence this way.
Rosalie- You too! Great getting under that mark.
Zanne- Sorry about the mess- I think I'd be having something stronger than cofee at this point!
Jackk- Congrats on the new low! That must feel good.
Yellow and Rosie- Thanks for the updates, Rosie. Tell your mom I wish her all the best and am so glad they didn't have to take pieces from her hip. shudder....sounds dreadful!
The lacrosse dinner is now a maybe- they are still trying to figure out how to get umpteen million tons of snow out of the stadium at the University of Pennsylvania. Figures, yesterday I went to Sams Club and bought paper goods, pasta, meatballs, cheese and pork tenderloins. At least I put off buying the desserts and fruit and veggies. I'll know by tomorrow if they're coming or not. Guess I better clean the house anyway  But I'm sure not buying anything else until I know for sure. I don't do a lot of major cooking- nothing fancy for this, but it still is a lot of food, and organizing.

Not much going on with me. I've lost 3 pounds and that's a good start. :spin: Hoo-eee! Whatta winter! I love it! Two feet of snow and all! My husband's been cursing it since Sunday morning; I'm beginning to wonder if it's his TOM  I spent Sunday sewing a coat for my Doberman. Trust me, a seamstress I ain't. It looks OK--not bad for a pattern downloaded from the Web, and constructed with a Handy-Stitch and by hand. Good enough for government work. Back at work today--it's so rare to get a snow day once you get into the working world. Got the deck shoveled Monday as well as some of the basement stairwell. Yup, got my exercise!

Deb just sent out the polite version of the SB Police on me. I'm still alive and planning on getting my flabby booty in shape. I've fallen off the wagon hard though. The insomnia combined with three days at my MIL's taking care of her husband who was left disabled by a stroke a few years ago led to a massive weekend long binge. I'm struggling right now to just stop overeating. I have to take a few days to get back to eating normal sized portions and then I can start paying attention to WHAT I'm eating. I'll be back...I promise! :D

This has got to be really quick...I have been trying to get on all day to report for WIW.
I was down two pounds from last Wednesday!
Now I have to run get my son, have a meeting here tonight and have to clean. At least all the curriculum for the church retreat is done and delivered! Alleluia! :)

Oh my goodness!!!! The board has been busy in just one day! There is no way that I have time to do individual responses this afternoon--so I just wanted to say hey! I'm thinking about everyone and, so far, holding my own today.
I am thrilled to read the good report on Yellowrose! Thanks Rosie for keeping us up to date. Please tell your mom that we love and and are thinking about her!
Have a good day everyone!

Hello Everybody,
I talked with my doc today and restrictions are off, glad I can head for the gym. I can go to the gym and circuit train and treadmill or whatever. Anybody out there with knee problems, that's why I don't much like the bikes, I've had 3 surgeries on the left one. In '95, I was in a serious car accident, which left me a little mangled. That's when I gain max weight. With therapy I am a lot better. So everybody I will be at the gym brite and early in the morning
:strong: .
I didn't weight today, scale is not accurate, gotta buy anther one. Two wks in a row I was at docs office and then hospital, so that's how I was able to see weight lose.
Debbie~~~I bought that food scale. I'm very fond of sausage and want to make my own, so today I'm going to buy a meat grinder. I found a website that has at least 200 recipes for making sausage. I will email you a sample of what I eat in the course of a day.
Quilter~~~how are you doing today?
See ya later,

The board has been busy today, I hardly have time to post before I leave.
Got my presentation over, now I have 3 days of untouched work to catch up on. Gotta love life.
Going to bunco tonight. Always a fun time. I made apot of veg soup for dinner but DD won't be home so DH said we could go out. I should stay home and eat the soup, much better for me, and get my workout in before bunco. Can't make up my mind what to do. I love to eat out.
Melf, hope that mamo goes ok today. hey are never any fun.
Tranquil, OK we'll let you bypass that scale this week as long as you promise a big drop next week. Good for you making the committment to exercise. It really does make you feel better and it's good foryou too! Glad you passed those pastries in the office. Be proud of yurself.
Trish, don't worry about those 2 lbs. They will come right back off. Sounds like you are already back on track this week. Good job. Keep it up. I remember Up with People. Does that make me old??
Monet, Hope your DD does not have mono. Maybe it's just that yucky virus going around like crazy. WTG on those 2 pounds. 2 seems to be the lucky number today.
Linworth, Glad you are back safely. Congrats on eating OP while you were away. It is hard to do that when you are at the mercy of someone else's cooking.
Renee, Sounds like you are getting into the exercise. You should see a drop next week with all that intensity. i don't worry about the fat. I use real mayo, real bacon (No added sugar) and butter. Real cheese, etc. Never worried about the fat content or ratios. Just do my 2 starchy carbs a day and go on.
Deb, The 2 lbs this week make a total of 96.I can't smell that goal yet. Sure thought I'd be there way before now. Oh well, just keep on plugging along. Presentation went ok. Won't know for a couple of weeks though. Sure hope you can spend the day with Eli tomorrow. I think your DS owes you. Look how often you take her kids. Hope you wake up soon.
Country, don't let that scale play those mind games with you. Do you feel good? Clothes loser? You are doing fine.
Mel, Just don't know what to say to you. read post to Country. Maybe al that exercise is turned you to one hard muscle. Muscle does weigh more. Don't get discouraged. Put that nasty scale away for awhile.
Dawn, Congrats on the 3 lbs. You are moving in the right direction. How much snow did you get? My niece lives in Meyersville and she got 32 inches. Hope you all dig out soon.
Mom2Marsh, Are you still having insomnia? I hope not. You have to be a walking zombie by now. It was nice of you to take care of your MIL's husband. I'm sure that is a tough job. Straighten yourself out and jump on the wagon. Keep coming back here, it will really help.
Fillise, Holding your own is great too.
Agape, Glad you are released to exercise again. It will make you feel better.
Have a great evening everyone.

Hey All:wave:
First off :fr: I went to log in my food in my journal and since I didn't know all the nutritional info by heart on the pot pie I got the box and was mortified to see I bought, by mistake, the one with regular flour! I couldn't believe it! I checked the other one I have in the freezer and that was WW flour, the right one, but I ate the wrong one today, and possibly yesterday, though I think the one yesterday was okay. Today, I couldn't figure out why the crust wasn't darker brown, thought it was because I put it on a lower heat today, but noooo:nono: Oh well, what can I do? It's over and done with and wasn't intentional!!!!
Speaking of measuring and journaling, I forgot to mention that I have a new scale coming any day. I found one on Ebay that seemed good and I have been wanting a new scale as mine doesn't weigh in grams and I like to have both. I had some prerequisites before buying one and this seemed to fit the bill-just hoping it is actually what I want.
COUNTRY, I love good graphics sites, some people really are creative with the gifs they have. I'm trying to find more sites where I can make some cutomized ones for the board without having to pay-like the ones I use already. Any ideas?
RENEE, or should we do MEESH? Thanks for telling me about the blocks, now I understand better. I will most definitely get a good mat, wasn't going to go for any of the really thin ones. Both Marshalls and TJMAXX has some at a decent price. The teacher sells the straps for $5.00, have you ever used one? The cranberry juice you want to look for is LAKEWOOD and it's pure pressed cranberry juice, so you have to read the label because they do have others that appear to be similar. I get it at the HFS. Try it with 1tbls first and then if you want more flavor, use 2tbls, add in your own sweetener-it's delicious!!!!
MEL, did you see my post to KACIE and about her 6lb gain? Can't worry about it if your eating is good-geez, what do you weigh now anyhow? What are you trying to get down to? If hating the scale has to do with the day, then I hate the whole week!!!!
DAWN, CONGRATS on your 3lb loss!! Have seen the snows you've had up there-keep them, would you? Now, come summer, if you could muster up a little cool air when asked, would be greatly appreciated! I hate the heat up in MD/DC during the summer time-it's brutal!!!!
MARSH, well, at least it was subtle, and it worked;) It's hard to deal with staying OP when you are prone to be an emotional eater, but if you can stay OP 100% and not give in, within a short period of time, stuff like that won't get to you in the way of eating. It's the sugar that does it to us and once we have a taste of it again, it's not good news-been there, done that and still doing it!
You need a nice visit down here in the DD- come on down!!!!!! I promise to be kind:s:
MONET, CONGRATS! 2lbs this week is wonderful!!!!
FILLISE:wave:
AGAPE, great news with the Dr.! Good luck at the gym tomorrow, just don't overdue yourself. Don't want you to wear down. I'm not one to really go for sausage EXCEPT this Armenian sausage that we get from Montreal when someone comes down to visit, it's to die for!!!! They are tiny and have both lamb and beef and pinenuts among spices and other stuff - very yummy! Which scale did you buy? How do you like using it and how has it helped that you can see?
JACKK, WHOA girlfriend, 96lbs-OMG, milestone coming up. I'm still waiting to see a picture. I'd love to see a before and one now, at least one by the wedding, or from it. Would love to put a name and a face together already!!! LOL! If my sister had her way, her kids would be with me until they turned 18yrs old!!!!
BOB, CONGRATS on your loss this week-no matter how small it is, it's a loss and much better than I've had lately!!!!
Well, I'm going to see what I can scrounge up and call dinner. Michael is at a friends, so no worrying about feeding him, Lauren had a lamb shoulder steak (or whatever that's called) ELI won't be home til late, so it's just moi to worry about.
Will try to check in later!!
Oh, do remember, tomorrow is recipe day, so if you have any good SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share with the rest of the board, please, try to post them on the quarterly board tomorrow.

I'm another newbie.
I've been doing a vague approximation of SugarBusters since October. I read the book a couple of years ago, then bought the new edition last week and read it. So I'm getting into the swing of things officially, and thought it'd be good to have some support.
In honor of it being WIW, I will say that I am down 3 pounds, from 202 to 199. I'm kind of amazed at that, since I haven't been completely legal, and I haven't been exercising. I had to weigh myself twice to believe it!
We missed out on the snow in Hampton Roads, for which I am heartily grateful. People around here do not know how to drive in the snow. They drive too fast and tailgate to begin with, so add in snow or ice...Well, there's a bridge closed somewhere in the area so the guardrail can be replaced...
I'm married with a baby who's almost a year old. It's just the two of us at the moment, since my hubby didn't get passed over for deployment. Second time in six months. Ah well, it's his job, even if they are having to cover for another boat.
That's the brief version, I have responded on the bio board...

Hi Everyone
I've had a good eating day so far to-day. I had my usaul oatmeal and berries for bf. For lunch I had left overs from last nights dinner and for dinner tonight I had corned beef and cabbage cooked in the crockpot and about 1/2 cup sweet potato. It was all very yummy. The only things I have snacked on to-day are about 1/2 cup of grapes and two or three tablespoons (well very small handfuls) of Almond Granola which I made to-day. Now if I can just keep my mouth zippered until bedtime I will be o.k.
Mel - Do you think it could be all that muscle you are making that is putting the weight up? Anyway hang in there. And why are you always hungry? Maybe you are not eating enough most of the time. Just a thought. I know I couldn't stick to this woe if I was hungry most of the time. I try to plan my meals so that I do not get too hungry between meals. Otherwise I would be snacking all the time.
Tranquil Sorry to hear you are not feeling too good tonight. Hope you feel better after a good nights sleep.
agape3737 - If you click on User CP at the top of the page that will take you to your profile. Click on Edit Options then you can choose whether or not you want to be sent an e-mail when there is a post to any thread you have posted to. I know if you delete Cookies you would have to reset the options. Have you done this recently? I don't know of any other reason.
Deb - I guess you needed that extra sleep this morning. Sometimes our bodies just have to catch up. I'm hoping to keep off the scale until next week. It's not guaranteed tho. BTW the curry doesn't do any worse number on me than the beans and hummus.
Monet - Congrats on the loss this week.
Jack-K - Before you know it you will reach that 100 pound milestone. Only four to go. WTG.
BOB - Take every little bit you can. It's always better than a gain.
Greetings to everyone I have missed.

Agape- this happens to me- if i post under the post reply green button instead of using the quick reply, it usually fixes it- don't know why though.
I went and blew it again- I ate macaroni tonight at supper. Why can't I get thru with a legal 100% OP day?! Drinking lots of water now, maybe the scales won't show a gain tomorrow.

Hi Folks,
Heartmom, thanks for the info. I'm using quick reply and I'll see what happens. Can anyone tell me where to find the abbreviations. I don't know what some of them mean, like dd and op.
Debbie~~ I really enjoyed the chat room, wish we had had a little more time there. Everybody got sleepy and so was I. The food scale is wonderful. I can understand what you mean when you said, what is a serving size and it's been very useful to me. I bought the one that has lbs and ozs. I believe metric, too. The sausages you described sounds delicious.
Monet~~ I was interested in the info concerning thyroid. My doctor had me to take my temp every morning before I did anything else. And my temp was 97 and under, I did that for about a month. Do you take armour thyroid, it's suppose to be in real form instead synthetic. I need something, because my thinking can get fuzzy and I get irritated I didn't know if you were trying to be humorous concerning the flour, you certainly tickled me, I was indeed LOL. I was looking at a grain miller today on the internet. It was about $35. Hope your daughter is feeling better soon.
YellowRose~~Very happy to hear that your mother is doing well. I pray that her recovey is speedy.
Jack-K~~ I'm doing great and tomorrow is d-day for getting back to te gym. Been a long time waiting. I do feel a lot better when i'm excercising.
Well, I'm getting sleepy now, so I will say good nite.

Good Thursday Morning.
Boy my butt is dragging today. Didn't get home from bunco until midnight and of course couldn't fall right to sleep. :tired: Got up early to fix DH bacon and eggs since he didn't have to go in until 7:00.
Didn't win any of the prizes last nite. She had some cute Easter things to. Of well, DD always wants them anyway and of course I have to give them to her.
I was so good last nite. Instead of going out to eat I fixed some bratwurst and just had that. Saving my soup for tonight. I got my workout in before I had to leave. At bunco at I had 2 roastbeef-cheese rollups and while they were eating Derby pie, (chocolate chip-walnut pie) I just had coffee. I really felt good about not going out to eat and eating something I shouldn't plus I got that workout under my belt and I won't be behind this week. I really want to get out of the 160's by the end of the month.
Bob, Congrats on the 2/10 lb. It's better than nothing. Keeping hanging in there.
Deb,I wouldn't worry about that pot pie. You were counting it as your starchy carb anyway. I don't think it will hurt you. Sometimes we are forced to eat something like that so I just count it and go on. Life happens. :sorry:
Mel, frustration. Don't let it get you down, please.
Tranquil, Hope you got some rest last nite. Where is Serene?
Momma. Welcome. If you are looking for support you have come to the right place. I can honestly say I could not have done this w/o this board and wonderful people. Congrats on that 3 lbs loss. Such a wonderful feeling to break that 200 number isn't it. Looking forward to getting to know you.
Rosalie, COngrats on your OP day. You made me hungry for corn beef. I love a good reuben sandwich.
Quilter, get some sleep, Hope today is better for you.
Agape, OP is on program, WOE way of eating, DD dear daughter, DS dear son, Happy Birthday. Have a great day. :cake: gift: :hat: Stay away from the cake.
Got to get to work. Be back later.

Morning! Another quickie! Small group was here last night...my son came as well and I had to drive him home at 1:30 am! I was dragging this morning. My daughter is still sick, and I am going to try and get her to the doctor today for a Mono spot test. She doesn't really have the flu...and the symptoms are uncomfortably familiar to me! (for the newbies...I had Mono back in Nov. and spent six weeks doing NOTHING to recuperate) I was supposed to go to Athens with a friend today to attend some business and visit with an old friend, but had to cancel to take my daughter to the doctor. :(
AGAPE: I did take Armour for over a year. I liked it much better than just T4, like Synthroid. My doctor changed my medication about six months ago to Unithroid, and a specially compounded T3. For me, Armour was not the right ratio of T4 to T3. Since is it made from dissecated pig thyroid, it is superior to Synthroid, but not the same ratio as humans. For some, it works great. I just needed more detailed medication. Happy Birthday! :hb: :balloons:
I hope to get back on as soon as I get the rest of my day organized...

Hi all!
JackK: We got 2 feet of snow. I think that's the "official" amount. Whatever. I'm going by my 4 foot fence.
My Detroit-born husband hates winter--he says he's seen too many accidents and has been in a few himself during winter weather. What I'd like to tell him is quit driving like a girl and you'll do fine. Man such whining on his part! Thankfully our neighbors are retirees so there were not any kids around to hear him swearing at the snow-pack in front of the driveway. I'd rather have a snowstorm than an ice storm, and I love winter regardless of what it throws at me--I consider it a challenge. Besides it could be worse--it could be summer and Debelli is right about the heat. You sweat like a whore in church! :flame: Yup, gimme winter any day! Man, getting home from work last night---total :censored: Couldn't even get on the 5:30 subway and had to wait 30 minutes for the next one. We're talking sardine special. Don't look for today to be much better :bomb:

Well I was struck by the bargin bug again. Canned veggies and tomatos 4 for a 1.00. My poor husband finally blocked me in at the register so I couldn't go back for "just a few more"...LOL But hey they had potatoes...beans of all kinds and almost every kind of canned tomato. How could I pass that up. :) I don't think I will need any for 6 months to a year now. Next time if they will just do the green beans and corn. I don't eat the potatoes and corn but my crew does.
Jack-K you are such an inspiration woman. I sure wish your success would rub off. :) I admit I was motivated yesterday and skipped the workout but today is a new day and I'm gonna walk walk walk..LOL I love when she says that.
Monet..I hope your daughter feels better soon. Sorry you had to miss meeting your friend.
Deb....we are swimming this morning also. It started yesterday and has yet to let up.
HeartMom...(((hugzz))) don't look at it as blowing it...just back to eating the good stuff. I think sometimes when we think we blew it we tend to eat more stuff off plan.
Rosalie...your breakfast sounds good. Mine has been a cup of coffee the last few days. I get on this computer and get lost between teaching the kids and checking my email and boards.
WELCOME GBMMomma!!! Praying for you and your little one. I remember how hard it is when they get sent away. My ex was army. You will love this way of eating. And these ladies are full of tips and encouragement.
Mel...maybe your body is going through a change and you need the extra calories to get those extra pounds off. I've heard that sometimes you actually have to eat a little more or a little different to get things rolling. Hang in there. You probably didn't eat as much as you think you did.
Well, the kids need me to gently guide them...LOL They have cabin fever with all this rain. Makes keeping them focused a little harder. Have a blessed day all.
Love,
Crystle

Another quick check in...
My daughter is doing an excellent impression of a slug. I don't think she has moved since 9 am, and its now 11! I called the doctor, and then remembered they are not there on Thursdays! :tape: I now have to hope I can get her in first thing in the morning. We are supposed to leave at about 2 for the retreat for the weekend. I hope something happens before then...like she has a miraculous healing! :crossed: We have to make a decision about whether to go or not. I know my husband is going to be loath to cancel after paying the $$... and I don't blame him! This seems to be way too common for us. Things mess up plans at the last minute....
Later...

Well, it's a rainy Thursday morning here in Central Texas. If any of you are curious as to where Austin, TX is just click on a weather map and the big yellow splotch where the storms are in Central Texas is right on top of Austin. Streets are already flooding, we get a lot of flash flooding here, and they're saying it's going to be storming on and off all day today and tomorrow.
I'm happy to report the scale was down 1.5 pounds this morning. Yippee. I made chili cheeseburgers for dinner last night. Joe and I ate them open face with just a half of a legal bun and lots of onions and lettuce. Tonight is spaghetti and meatballs.
Lin - Glad you made it home safely. That had to have been a treacherous trip.
Meesh - Good luck with the dietician. Is she in favor of this WOE or have you talked to her yet?
Mel - Well, what's the latest on the foodfest this weekend? Good luck whichever way it goes.
Dawn - I'm so impressed that you sewed a coat for your poochie. Pics, please.
Kat - Glad to see you back.
Agape - Yum, I love good sausage. Most of the sausage we get here is smoked, we get very little fresh sausage around here. What we can find is usually pretty fatty. Good luck making your own. Happy Birthday to you!!
Jack-K - I can't call you old if I remember them too. That would make me old, and we all know that I'm not. Way to go staying away from the bad stuff at bunco. That would have been really hard, because I love derby pie!!!
Deb - Oh,no, not the dreaded white flour on your pot pie. Was it good, though, at least? I'm going to have to break down and make a whole wheat pizza dough, I think. I've been really craving a good pizza. I've done the pita bread thing and that's pretty good but I'm at the point where I want real pizza.
GBMM - Welcome, welcome, welcome. Don't know if you've been lurking here a while or if you just jumped right on but I'm sure you'll find this is a great board. As you can see we talk about everything here. No holds barred (or not many anyway). Sending prayers your way for your hubby. What branch is he in? Being in Norfolk, I'm guessing Navy or Marines.
Rosalie - Once again, dinner sounds yummy. I love corned beef and cabbage but never make it. Not sure why. Maybe this week-end.
Heartmom - Hang in there, girl. You can do it. One meal at a time.
Monet - Hope your daughter gets to feeling better and you get to go on your retreat.
Crystle - Are you guys getting these storms? Yikes, it's still thundering out there and now I have to leave and go to the Post Office for work.
Talk to you guys later.

Morning All. Ill go back and post a better message as soona s I finish this one.. but I need help!!!!! Im having a recipe freak out! (If im posting in the wrong area, please let me know..)
BAsically I made no bake cookies.. thinking they were fairly legal because I had a modified recipe.. but what I made myself do is look up every ingredient for carbs, fibre, protein, fat and calories. So can someone look at this and tell me if I did it right or wrong. Im damn near ready to throw the whole batch out because of how HIGH they are. It seems like I could have a half of candy bar for just ONE cookie.
Ok Rec as follows:
(all values in grams)
1/2 cup cocoa Carbs: 24 Fiber 13 Protein 8 Fat 6
1 cup agave carbs: 240 Fiber 0 Protein 0 Fat 0
1 /4 cup butter Fat 46 grams
1/2 cup milk Carbs 6 Fiber - Protein 4 fat 3
1/2 cup peanut butter Carbs 25 fiber 8 Protein 33 Fat 66
3 cups oats Carbs 165 Fiber 27 Protein 39 fat 16
1 tsp vanilla (I didnt look this up..seemed minor)
So I broke this down into about 32 portions (its a guess.. I dumped it all on a cookie sheet and broke it up once it settled - real rec said 36)
And I got PER cookie : 100 calories, 14 grams of carbs . 1.4 grams of fibre. 2.4 grams of protein and 4.3 grams of fat
Is this right? Holy wow! I thought I was being wise by making soem cookies instead of grabbing a tradtional treat
Yes I know Im being obsessive *tee hee* Im tryint o teach myself here
Thanks for your help

Lets post another reply..
Debi : about the yoga strap.. they are awesome.. even for non yoga stuff. If you cant afford a strap.. grab an old tie. To see hwo it works.. try this... sit down with your legs stretched out in front of you.. now act as tho you are going to reach to touch your toes.. you may be tight or bouncing to get there .. now take the tie or strap and place it on the the arch of your food.. now reach on both sides of your tie and reach holding the tie... keeping yourself in balance and alignement but lets you have a "deeper" stretch. You can use the strap in a million ways... it just helps you get your stretch.
I think today is recipe day and I have some recipes to post (its a collection of 4 cookbooks I *found* on another board. They are long and extensive but extremely well organzied... the recipes are NOT mine .. just a collection I found) Ill pist it here and there

I HAVE A QUESTION.
If any of you are like me, you have tried every diet known to man. I have heard of a diet called Simply Weight Loss. Apparently it is some herbal supplement and you have to drink water and eat the right foods. Does anyone know anything about this diet? Not asking for myself. Would never do anything but SB, but trying to find soemthing for my DD that will work for her. She didn't like SB.
Thanks

About your cookies...I've never made that recipe but I bet you could cut the agave almost in half....use low fat milk...substitute sugar free apple sauce for the butter. Maybe even decrease the cocoa and still have a nice cookie....if that's not sweet enough I bet you could still add less agave and a little splenda..it goes a long way.
Love,
Crystle

I have posted the recipe for the cheese straws. Hopefully I put it in the right place.
I'm going home, eat my soup, workout and crash. I'm worn out, It has been they day from H**L and I can't take any more.
Monet, sorry your plans got changed for today. Kids always seem to know when to interrupt our plans don't they. Hope she doesn't have mono. You all don't need to go through again.
Deb, have a wonderful day with Eli.
Dawn, I'm glad you like winter considering what you all got. Not me give me 95 degrees any day. I need to move south. I'm surprised about your DH. Most men love this stuff and like to get out there and show off.
Country, Got alaugh out of your walk, walk, walk. I think I can recite that whole tape I have heard it so much. I wish we could change the banter. I know what is coming next. Get out there and just do it. You will feel so much better physically and mentally.
Have a great night everyone.

Somehow I missed about 4 posts.
Trish, WTG on the 1.5 pounds. Going in the right direction. I heard you allwere going to get a lot of rain. It could be worse, it could be snow! Stay dry.
Monet, Hope you get in the Dr in the morning. Maybe she will be al better by then. Mine were always better by the time we got in to see the doc.
Renee, I used splenda when I made them. Pretty good.

MEESH: I agree with Country...cut down on the agave and the recipe is actually fine. Deb's cheesecake only uses about 1/3 cup to 1/2 cup. 1 whole cup is a lot!
What I want to find is a cookie recipe that ends up crisp! I made a agave/ww/70% chocolate chunk cookie last night. It has oatmeal in it too. They always turn out cakey, and I want a cookie that is nice and crisp! They taste kind of ok, but I hate the texture.
JACK: I have not heard of that diet. My suggestion would be to have her look at Weight Watchers. It is a good all around diet plan with a lot of flexibility. I know some people who have been on everything, including SB, and just couldn't make any progress. They finally went to WW, and are doing very well. Their new point system I imagine would appeal to the younger crowd. You can work in anything...including pizza, or beer! You just account for it, and plan. They do a lot to teach behavior modification so you can succeed and stay that way. Hope your evening is more restful...
COUNTRY: You got a great deal on those canned goods! I don't blame you for stocking up! I can just imagine what the shopping cart must have looked like!
TRISH: I hope you have the inflatable boat handy in case you need it! I wonder if all that rain is heading our way? It would be ok with me if we got a good bit. We have had too little for several years and its always bad if we start out behind in the spring....
DEB: Hope you enjoyed your day with your main squeeze...
DAWN: Good to see you back!

I took today and tomorrow off work and started cleaning this morning- house is mostly cleaned except for last minute stuff, and anyway, they are cllege kids mostly and we know what their houses look like! The coach called me at 2pm today saying the tournie is on, so I've just got back from buying out Sam's Club. Now I need to get cooking! Times like this I really wish I'd opted for double ovens when we redid the kitchen. The hardest part is figuring out an oven schedule for baked ziti, pork tenderloins, baked potatoes (50!) and a vegie lasagne. Just a few carbs in there
(to the newbies who haven't followed my banquet saga, my daughter plays lacrosse for Ohio State and I host a dinner for the team, coaches, parents, and whomever else shows up when they play in the Phila area.) Thank heavens they're not football players, I'd never be able to do this!
I went to a luncheon today in my neighborhood. It's amazing what all these women who don't work can do. I was really good- had an enormous plate of salad, some fruit salad, and some chicken salad and drank water. Despite all the wine that was flowing. Helped serve desserts, but didn't even breathe any in. That stuff just doesn't tempt me but man, can I put away good chicken salad.
Our blizzard is melting, but we still have 10' piles by the roadsides and in parking lots. It's beautiful out, tho. 48 degrees and feels like spring. I told dh I'm moving out if we don't have a snowblower come next November.
Monet- Sure hope dd is allright. You must have a big black cloud hanging over your house! Thinking miracle cure thoughts....
Deb- Hope you have a good day up in Broward, hitting all the regular spots? I still have all those choc espesso beans I keep meaning to send to you. Maybe after this weekends madness is over I get around to it.
Meesh- Those cookies sound good, but they sure pack a caloric wallop! I bet Country's suggestions would improve them.
Jackk- Never heard of it. But let us know if it works ;)
Hello to everyone I've not addressed, but I have to go face all that FOOD :^:

Hi Everyone
It's been a bright sunny day here to-day and the temperature is a little milder. It's a pleasant change after that extreme cold weather we have had recently.
I've had another good day so far. I had Almond Granola with milk for breakfast - this from a recipe posted by Debelli some time ago. It's good for a breakfast cereal also for snacking. I went out for lunch and had a yummy chicken salad, also chicken noodle soup. I was planning on having leftovers for dinner but have been invited to my dil's for dinner. Hope she has enough legal stuff for me to eat. I've been staying 99% op these last few days and wouldn't like to spoil it. I made the Honey Lemon Cheesecake to-day and have posted a review on the Recipe Review Board.
Agape3737 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY. :cake: :gift:
Jack-K - Your dh is a lucky guy to have you get up that early to make his breakfast. Sounds like you had a really good day yesterday with exercise and eating. If you keep it up I am sure you will get below 160 very soon. Sorry I don't know anything about Simply Weight Loss diet but I personally wouldn't go for any diet that requires a supplement. It's probably just a fad diet. JMHO.
Monet - That's too bad you couldn't get your dd to see the doctor to-day. Hope you can get in to see him early tomorrow. That's too bad that you missed the visit with your friend to-day. Hope it doesn't screw up your weekend as well. Hope your dd begins to feel better very soon. :grouphug:
CountryMom - I couldn't go without my breakfast although I never eat when I first get up. I usually have a couple of cups of coffee first and eat an hour or so later. If I did miss it I would be having another meal at midnight to make up for it.
Trishaloo - Another 1 1/2 pounds gone. Hooray. Hope you don't get any damage from the flooding.
Bye for now.
Marie.

The HEAT is back!!! Not ready for it, but it didn't ask me...now I'm wishing for the rain that DEB has...Supposed to get it this weekend though...

I'll be back later....My little SKEETER is not feeling well, and I've got to try to get him to eat....

Just checking in- I guess the mac was loaded with sodium- I'm up a half a pound from yesterday- again, as much water as I drink you would think it would counteract it- I'm quite stinking fed up with having fluid retention problems and a dadgum doctor not giving me an RX for it!!! Okay, I feel somewhat better now. Anyway, I've been doing good today with my eating, only 1 starchy carb so far. Is yogurt considered a dairy? Boogie has been coughing his head off today, I always worry. I just hope this croup doesn't turn into something else.
AGAPE- Happy Birthday!!

Hi guys. I have been lurking for a couple of days now. I did the Cabbage Soup diet about three weeks ago. I just wanted to lose a big chunk of weight instead of lose two, gain one....etc.
The CS diet worked, I lost 9 pounds.....but it was pretty hard....I don't think that I could do it again.
I have always been interested in Atkins, but don't think that I could make it through induction. I found the Sugar Busters book at BJ's last weekend and it seems to make sense. I have basically been following this type of eating since I went off of CS. I have been losing about a pound a week for the last two weeks.
I usually start my morning with a bowl of strawberries and blueberries (was doing them with fat-free sugar-free yogurt, but have cut that out), I then have a carb bar and a cup of coffee mid morning (have cut out cream and use artificial sweetner). I have a salad with chicken at lunch (Light done right three cheese ranch....probably not the best choice but I don't pour it on, I dip my fork in and then pick up the salad) and then chicken, fish, or a turkey burger for dinner. After dinner I have some Le Carb ice-cream almost every night (I really love my sweets).
Any advice? Does this sound right? Does about a pound a week sound right or should I be losing more on SB's? Could it be that it's lower because the CS diet took such a big chunk of weight off?
What grocery stores do you find carry the biggest selection of convenience SB approved products.
Thank you so much for letting me ramble and giving me a place to lurk!!!!

Thursday Evening
Well, it's the big TV night at this house, so I'm going to try and catch up before it all starts. Whew, what pressure. LOL. Some days my priorities suck.
Well, just another good day at work. The temps warmed up so much that I actually could go without my scarf and gloves and could walk at a leisurely pace to my car. That hasn't happened for about 2 months!
I went shopping at lunch with my boss. She was looking for the perfect jacket. I stumbled onto some good buys. Got a really nice green sweater set for 40% off. And then got a black turtleneck at August Maxx for 50% off. I decided those were my treats for breaking the big old double zero. And in 4 more pounds I will get to my first short-term goal and will be ready for another treat!
HEART---You asked about Sweet Potato Chips. Girlfriend, I used to buy them and would down the entire bag in an afternoon. So I have to treat them like an illegal food. I wish they sold small bags in the vending machines. Then I could get just one serving and be done.
AGAPE----HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I don't know how to do all those little faces and birthday cakes. So I'll do my celebrating with the words only. Hope you have a really great day. And I'm glad you told us so we could celebrate with you and treat you like a princess today. How are we doing????? Hey, you be careful at the gym. Slow and steady wins the race. Don't get all olympian on us and mess up that knee again. That would be no good at all. Do you swim at your gym. I'm sure that would be easy and better for your knee.
COUNTRY----You are our resident Dart Queen. That sounds like so much fun. We have a plain old board in our basement and every once in a while Paul and I will throw. I am really bad, and it takes me forever to finish. Then the next morning I can hardly raise my arm. We call that "darter's shoulder." I think it's really good exercise for your upper arm, but it's totally lopsided. One beefed up arm, one flabby. Not a good look. So how's your mom liking SB? Sounds like she's already having good results. It's amazing isn't it? I just read your explanation to DEB and realize that all I wrote was inappropriate, but I'm leaving it, because I thought it was kind of funny.
FOR ALL YOU WHO WERE TALKING ABOUT THE FENNEL---I got the Cooking Thin book tonight at the library and that recipe is in there. If my brain keeps working, I will post the recipe. It's only got 4 ingredients which is right up my alley.
ROSALIE----I'm really glad you have found "your way" that works with your eating. I think it's great that we all have these special ways to help us and that we all try different things, but seem to always come back to one certain thing. I hope you get rid of that old plateau and have a huge success really soon. BTW, thanks for the tip on the popcorn. Now that I think about it, that was a silly thing for me to say. I should have known 1 cup of popcorn would be way more than my tiny microwave could handle.
MONET---Hope DD gets on the mend soon. Congrats on the 2 pound loss. Your TM action is really helping!!!! Sweat it off, my friend!!!
ZANNE---On Wed, you needed to get back in bed and cover up your head. It wasn't your morning, sister/friend. Oh, I am a huge fan of the chocolate chip. Yumville. That could be my weakness. So I can relate to that little cheat.
JACKK---Hey, congrats on the TWO POUND LOSS and the NEW LOW. That's so great! I am really pulling for you to break that 160 zero by the end of the month. Keep on working. You can do it. You're still my inspiration. Everytime you break a zero or hit another all-time low, I'm thinking that I will do that someday too. Thanks for the explanation of the popcorn. I will probably try it sometime and just weigh one serving size and then put that in the microwave. I like the idea of spraying it with pam and then adding seasoning. That's terrible about your sister and no power. Those poor people. I hope your dad doesn't get sick. But you have to admit that would be a funny picture. They are all probably taking really hot showers, unless it's too cold to get undressed. Did I tell you when my bro and SIL drove through on Sunday she said Lex's trees looked like they had blown glass around them? That's not going to melt in one afternoon of sunshine. Glad DD made it back safely. That can be so nerve wracking!!!
TRISH---You know who else I like of Foodtv? Rachael Ray and her 30 Minute Meal show. A lot of her stuff is way to high in fats, but I just enjoy watching her cook. She's so organized. She uses this really great knife for practically everything. I showed it to Paul one day. And he got it for me as a Christmas present. It's really expensive. I think like $70. Needless to say it will last forever. It makes chopping and slicing so much easier. I can see why she uses it all the time. About the TM question. We have one. We bought it new from sears probably 5 years ago. It's a ProForm. The kind that you can fold up and put against the wall. That part I like. One thing we don't have is the auto incline adjuster. If I want to adjust the incline (which I sure don't now!) I have to stop it and get off and manually raise or lower the back. The nicer ones now have that automatically. I also don't like how my readout things on the front are cancelled out by these push buttons. Because if I put my book rack on then all the numbers go off. So I can't tell how fast I'm going or how far I went. But it works. I guess, I'm advising you to go the extra bucks and get the extras that you think you will use. My SIL has one that has these programmed workouts. So you don't adjust the speed. It starts you out slow and automatically speeds you up. There are a few different workouts on there and some of them even have you going up a hill. Now that's a workout.
LIN---Glad you are back safelly. How was the trip? Wish we could have met up for a meal or a quick drink. Or some shopping.
DEB---I'm surprised you weren't struck blind by that visualization of my butt doing a cartwheel. LOL
DAWN---Congrats on the three pound loss. That's great!!! Hey you made me LOL talking about your DH's TOM. Too funny, girl!!! I love the idea of sewing your doberman a coat. What a good mommy you are!!!
TRANQ---Hey, I sure did hate to hear about you pulling a muscle. Did you do that at the gym? I'm feeling bad because I was really talking you into working out on Tuesday night at the chat. Do me a favor and don't listen to me anymore. I hope you are feeling better. Are you watching Survivor? It's going to be the toughest (as far as environment goes) and it's going to get pretty ugly before it's all over.
GBMM---Welcome to the board! So glad you decided to join us. We are a fun bunch who loves helping each other on this journey. Hey, you and I are right about at the same weight!!! We can be loser-buddies!!! Keep up the good work.
RENEE---Hi and WELCOME. I've never heard of the cabbage soup diet, but I'm thinking that could be dangerous. As far as the after effects of eating so much cabbage goes. LOL I hope you like SB. It's a great way to get healthy. I am with you on eating lots of berries. I usually have berries and milk at lunch time and at supper. It's my sweet treat. Because I put a little splenda on it. It's really good and I feel like it's good for me too. You will learn a lot of good tips from this group.
Okay, Survivor is on already, so I need to hunker down on the couch and watch these poor people suffer. I sure hope the women can get their act together tonight. Because they are looking pretty bad now.
Later,

Hello everyone! Well I didn't get a chance to read the board yesterday & it looks like it's been pretty busy. I didn't weigh yesterday either so I didn't post a weigh in. I did weigh at the gym today fully clothed of course with heavy sweats, shoes & shirt & I actually weighed 1/2 lb lighter so I'm encouraged. I won't claim that 1/2 lb until I do my usual early morning naked weigh in though.
I do have a new question. Does everyone count beans as a starchy carb? They are a staple here in my home & I haven't been counting them as a starchy carb mainly because I don't recall reading that in the book.
I need to get a few replies in before I go.
Jack-K: Wow, 2-3 lbs a week average loss is wonderful. I would be happy with 1lb per week. I don't think that's too unreasonable but even on Atkins it wasn't happening. I hear so many stories about people being on the wrong dose of thyroid medication & I sometimes wonder if this is my problem.
Quilter- I love to watch Cooking Thin too. I think Katherine is so cute because she reminds me so much of a dear friend that moved to Oregon. I certainly couldn't follow her eating plan but it is interesting to watch. I'm a big Food Network fan but since I started watching what I eat, it's hard for me to sit their & watch all that wonderful food. Does anyone like Tyler Florence from Food 911? Yummy!
Rosalie- I aiming for that 1lb a week. If I had lost 1lb a week on Atkins I would have been at goal by now. It's been slow & steady for me so I guess that's the best way.
Trishaloo - Corona, CA is about 30-35 miles NE of Disneyland to give you a better idea. We got a surprise lightning & thunderstorm last night. We are expecting more rain but today it was warm & sunny & probably in the 70's. I'm certainly not complaining, that's for sure.
Agape- I haven't had knee surgery but I have a congenital problem in both knees that can cause any one knee to partially dislocate if I'm doing an activity or even just walking. I never know when it can happen & it's very painful so I am very careful when I am at the gym. For cardio, what I like to do, is the elliptical machine. I don't think it puts alot of strain on my knees like the treadmill does. I have never liked the bikes. My butt hurts from sitting on those things for too long. BTW, Happy Birthday! I hope you had a good one.
Meesh- I've made a cookie recipe with the exact same ingredients as yours only I used Splenda. I haven't bought any agave nectar so I would be interested in knowing if it's preferred on SB over Splenda.
I hope I didn't miss anything. Hope you all had a wonderful day!

Hi
Not sure if this post will go in the right place, but anyway. YES, another Canadian on sb. I live on the Hamilton Mountain, a good hour (on a good, dry day) west of Toronto.
Sugar busters doesn't seem to have hit Canada yet in a big way. BUt then again, maybe there are lots of 'closet' sbers????
It's pretty late, but have a great week everyone! sugless

Eh, Sugless, I never really hear about SB down here either, but there certainly does seem to be a lot of people doing it!
reneelk, I got my SB book at BJ's too. I think that's about the greatest store there is, I like it so much more than Sam's. I think you'll do a lot better on SB than you could do on Atkins. It mentions in the SB book that Atkins starts you out on a crash diet. IMO, this WOE is healthier, and you'll lose just as much weight on it as you would in Ongoing Weight Loss on Atkins.
Thanks for the welcome, all. I've been lurking for about a week.
I got a good walk in today. Between weather, sickness, and feeling sorry for myself when dh got deployed, I haven't exercised in about 3 weeks. :o But I got in 3.4 miles today, so I'm feeling good about myself.

Good Morning!
My daughter is perfecting her slug routine this morning...we will be heading on out to the doctors office in about an hour. I am not even going to call first. I saw the doctor on line last night and IMed him and told him what was going on. His reply was short...something like Oh, (expletive) see you tomorrow! Things look rather bleak for the retreat this weekend. I am a bit frustrated about it. I was SO looking forward to the trip.
I need to go and get ready to leave in an hour... have a great day everyone!
TRISH: I forgot to comment on the treadmill issue yesterday. I have a Hebb Trim-Up. It is one that folds up when not in use. I like it a lot. It has variable inclines, and speeds up to 10mph, in case you want to really RUN! :) When I got it about four years ago, I got on a fitness forum and asked. I got a lot of responses, but more people recommended the Hebbs then any other brand. It is a middle of the pack on price treadmill. You can spend anywhere from $500 to $5000 on one, and this one was about $1200. We use it a lot, and have for the four years we have had it. My daughter and my husband have run on it when the weather was too bad to get outside. I walk on it regularly. It monitors time, distance and calories burned (tho I don't think that feature is all that accurate). It had a good warranty, too.

Good Friday Morning.
Boy I am relly TGIF today. The weekend is going to be yucky here. Rain all day today and Sat. Snow and rain SUnday.
We have to pickup a stove we bought for DD and take it to their house tomorrow. Then we have to meet with the florist again. Then we have to go to a benefit dinner for Cerebal Palsey kids. My company bought a table and no one wants to go and someone needs to represent us so I said I would go. Hey it's afree dinner and I don't have to cook. I like to dress up and pretend to be elite. We are taking 2 other couples and one guy from work is going. So it will be fun.
The scale was at 159 this morning. I doubt that it will stay there though. Anyway it's not official until WIW. I didn't eat much last night so that is probably why. At least I know that # exists.
Mel, how will you ever get all that food cooked? That is a lot of food. I hope they appreciate all your hard work. Hey you should just clean you house after they leave, not before. Why do it twice??? I'm with you, I love chicken salad. My sister makes the best. I'd wait until Spring to buy that snow blower. Probably can't even find one now and they will be a lot cheaper later.
Congrats on your good eating. Hope DIL had soemthing for you to eat last nite. I make check out the granola recipe. DH can't find a healthy ceral he likes w/o a ton of sugar in it.
Bob I have seen advertisements for the LA Weight loss. I really don't they my DD is interested in losing, but I'm scared that wedding dress isn't going to zip. Hope SKeeter is feeling better today.
Heartmom, Yes yogurt is a dairy. Hope BOogie is feeling better and it's nothing serious.
Reneelk, Welcome to our SB board. SB is a WOE (way of eating) that you can do for the rest of your life. It is so easy. You really don't have to buy special SB foods. Just watch out for sugar. Read a lot of labels. Read the book, it is very helpful and so is everyone on this board. I don't think I could ever do the CS diet. yuk! Fruits & veggies on SB.
Quilter, Good for you treating yourself for breaking the big zero. That will keep you motivated. Before long you will have to treat yourself b/c you clothes won't fit. You will be getting to new lows very soon now. You are doing so good you are inspiring me. I'm just so happy for you I could pop.
Letty, I don't count beans as a starchy carb. We eat a lot of them too.Maybe you should have your thyroid checked out. It could be causing you a rpbolem. Agave works better is baking then Splenda. I used splenda on cereal and fruit.
Sugless, Welcome to our board. We have a few canadians on here. They are going to overtake the Floridians soon. Glad you could join us.
GBMM, WTG on that exercising. That is a big feat since you haven't done it in a while. Just think, you will be losing all that weight and when you DH comes home he will be so surprised. Stay onhere and we will keep you company.
Monet, Is there anyone that can stay with your DD while you go on the the retreat? SHe will probably sleep alot anyway?
Got to get busy here. Got to go pay my bills and then I guess I better get started on my real work sometime.
Have a great day.

I have been lurking, just not able to respond to everyone.
Deb-when are you weighing again? If I have a good week, I might venture onto the scales -- the thought scares me though.
Jackie-As usual, your progress is phenomenal and I really admire your hard work. WTG on the new low.,
Kim-How is the weather? We drove through Cinci on the way home because I was afraid my usual way would be too icy.
Mel-Did I tell you that a group of us in Charleston are trying to get youth lacrosse going here? Tomorrow is the first boys game. We will probably lose, but at least we have a team. We are also going to have a girls' program too. Good luck with all your cooking!! Go Bucks.
Does anyone want the recipe for imitation fried rice using caulifower instead of rice? I made it last night and it is pretty good. Lots of chopping, shredding, etc. though.
Congrats to everyone for sticking with this healthy WOE. I have my 15 y.o. doing it with me too. It is hard for him since he can't just grab something to eat. But he is trying.

Good Morning All
I did o.k. at my dil's yesterday for dinner. She had made pizza but the crust was legal. It was a very thin crust made with whole spelt flour with some kind of turkey sausage on top together with all the usual fixings. It all tasted very yummy. It was more starchy carbs than I wanted to eat but I haven't had many lately so shouldn't be a problem for me. And I had a small piece of the cheese cake that I made yesterday for dessert.
Reneelk - Welcome to sb. The berries sound fine for breakfast but that alone is not enough. I think you would do better to continue with the yogurt as well. At least that gives you some protein. I don't know anything about the carb bars as I never eat them so don't know what's in them. Same goes for the ice cream. Losing one pound a week sounds fine. It is recommended that we only lose no more than 1-2 pounds per week. If you lose it slowly it is more likely to stay off. I use regular salad dressing although like you I use very little of it. The fat free ones always contain more sugar so I try to avoid them. They also taste yucky.
Quilter - Doesn't it feel great to have the weather warming up. It felt almost like a spring day here yesterday compared to what we have had lately. Good for you treating yourself and even better getting a bargain. I'm sure you will be at your short term goal very soon. You've done so well since climbing back on that wagon. I'd be interested in trying that Fennel Chicken recipe. I found the veggie in the store yesterday. I just wanted to see what it looked like. It was actually called ANISE but the small print said it was also known as FENNEL.
Letty - I don't count beans as a starchy carb. Most of them have a fairly low gi so are a good food to have on this woe. Slow and steady in the way to go.
Sugless - Yes, your post did go in the right place. My first introduction to this woe was with Michel Montignac's book EAT YOURSELF SLIM which is where the Sb authors got most of their information from. This book is well worth reading as it gives much more detailed information than the SB book does. If you are interested it is probably available in your public library. I mainly got involved with SB because of the support boards. There is also a lot more information available these days about low glycemic diets in general. Before I started this woe over three years ago I had never even heard of the glycemic index. Now I see it discussed in lots of diet articles without mentioning any specific diet like sb.
GBMM - Glad you got in your walk to-day. Sometimes it's so hard to get going on the exercise but we always feel better after it's done.
Monet - Good luck at the doctors. Hope the news isn't bad and you don't have to cancel the weekend trip.
Jack-K - Sounds like you will have a fun day tomorrow. It's always nice to have some one else do the cooking. The recipe for the Almond Granola is on the First Quarter 2002 Recipe Board in case you are looking for it. See above note re my visit to dil last evening.
Have a good day everyone.
Marie.

Morning All
Beauty day here. Supposed to get up to nearly 40F today. I think I'll wash the car. We may or may not get a big storm this weekend. There's 2 weather systems that might clash together, so they're having a hard time predicting. We'll just have to wait and see.
I haven't had a chance to catch up with the boards since I last was here (Tuesday??). TOM really got me this time round and I was really sick. Didn't do much of anything except I ATE A POUND OR MORE OF OATMEAL COOKIES!!!! One of my faves. I could almost instantly feel the sugar rush to my head, but still I kept eating. (maybe another reason I didn't feel well?). The cookies are gone now and I've been eating OP since dinner last night. I feel better today.
I thought I better come back to the boards to "fess up" and get back on the wagon. Mind you, if we do get the storm, you might have to send a sleigh!
I hope everyone is doing better than me. Stay eating OP cause jumping off the wagon is really not worth it.
Have a good weekend all!

I didn't get to check in today and won't get to do a long reply today. I've got some meetings and then a press conference, then pack and head to Brimingham tonight for a meeting tomorrow. Then back here and church all day on Sunday. My day off might be Monday this week (um, nope, got to work at the church on Monday). Oh well!
Food is so-so. Not horrible, but not great. I'm ascribing it to my annual mid-winter funk (February is my least favorite month of the year). Have you ladies noticed how the stores are now torturing us with racks of shorts, sleeveless tops, and bathing suits---while we are hunkered in our winter coats, hats, and gloves. It's downright cruel--cruel I tell you!
And I know that all the Canadian gals are sorting and thinking "what does that bama gal know about cold????" Well it's cold to me (and I lived in Iowa for five winters, so I do know from winter) and when it is cold I am miserable!
When I'm miserable it is my policy to make everyone around me miserable!!!!!:s:
In six months--Deb will be the one complaining about the heat!
For all of you who are struggling with slow weight loss--here is my theory. I ALWAYS have trouble losing weight in winter. I think my body wants to hang onto all the insulation it can. I seem to do better when it is hot. It's like the heat helps to melt the fat off my body. Don't laugh-I know it is not scientific, but I swear--getting throuhg Jan and Feb each year without gaining weight feels like a victory to me.
Welcome to all the newcomers!
Agape3737--Happy belated birthday! Your best present is what you are doing for yourself!
BOB--How's the fur baby? I hope he is feeling better soon!
Monet--uh-oh it looks like you are going to have to put DD to bed for 6 weeks! My sympathies.
OK-- enough of my whining. There is only one more week in Feb--I promise I'll try to be better.
Love to you all!
Susan

Good Friday Morning Everyone:wave:
Just taking a short break from doing some much overdue cleaning in the house. The problem is, nothing I seem to do makes it look like I've done a thing. Was just cleaning under our bed, haven't a clue what ELI has stashed under there, me, nothing. BUT, I bought some toys when they were on clearance after Xmas for the toy drive next Xmas (I do think ahead on some things) and want to put them under the bed. Well, boy, was it dusty under there, so out comes the Rainbow. I figured I better get a move on cleaning just in case ELI'S nephew is going to come down in the first week of March. We called Montreal last night but he wasn't home and his sister wasn't sure of their latest plans. Better safe than sorry, I don't want a days notice to clean! Okay, I should do it anyhow, but it's something I just keep putting off.
I'm happy to report that MICHAEL got all A's on his Group 4 project!:D He was soooo happy. Better than he thought and everything paid off. His teachers know he knows this stuff so even with the girl who didn't do her work right and the other one who went out of town, he picked up the slack and got the job done. Now, he has an IB ORAL in French to study for, and for which I have to get my butt on the telephone and start finding volunteers to proctor, then come May, have to find lots of proctors for major exams.
ELI and I had a nice day, didn't really do much though, by the time we puzted around, it was a bit later than we thought and my idea of hitting the indoor flea market was nixed. We did go to OLE OLE, 2 of my fav. HFS, the farmers market for some fruit (forget the veggies, they just rot in the fridge) for Carbolite, Penny's outlet and Target - nothing exciting at all. Just nice to be able to be together.
Didn't walk today, I didn't say anything the past few days, didn't feel like it was right to complain, esp. with ROSE and her surgery, but I've had a really bad pain in my left shoulder blade. I didn't pull anything that I could know about and I haven't a clue why it's bothering me so much, sometimes worse than others, but I decided to take today off, even though I haven't gone the rest of the week, in hopes, come Monday, I'll feel a lot better.
I want to get some replies in before I have to go. Since I wasn't around yesterday, I didn't get to go to the church and volunteer, so I'd like to go today, at least for a few hours. Have to hit BJ'S as well, before stopping at the bank, the library AND picking up the kids from school...
MOMMA, http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign2.jpg Glad you've decided to join us. CONGRATS on your 3lb loss and getting in to "new territory," under 200lbs!! If you think people can't drive in the snow, you should see what driving in Miami is without any type of bad weather, but throw in some rain, whoa, it's ridiculous. Yesterday, it was raining and between 127 Ave and 122 Ave (a half-mile) and there were 4 accidents. A mile more up the road was another one, bigger than the other ones put together. Drivers in Miami, in one word, AWFUL!!! Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD, it was nice to learn more about you:D
ROSALIE, sounds like you are doing well, which is nice to hear. The mere mention on the granola has me wanting to make a batch, it's been such a long time since I've made some.
AGAPE, thanks for posting your BIO as well, always nice to learn a bit more about our board members. I've added your name to my e-mail list as well. What brand of food scale do you have? How was your birth day?
JACKK, every time I hear about someone going to bunco I wish I could of been there, sounds like so much fun. I have never played and don't know if there's a group around here. Actually, probably couldn't belong myself, if it means having to host it, geez, there would be no place to play. I take it you have to have a big (and clean) home!!! I'd stay away from herbal supplements for now, with what's going on with Ephedra and that baseball guy dying, among others, I'm weary about that stuff. Never heard of that diet you mentioned.
MONET, how's your DD feeling today?
COUNTRY, did you get those bargains at Alberston's? Was at one up in Broward yesterday and saw a few bargains like that there, otherwise, that store is expensive!!!! How did you make that personalized gif for Agape???
TRISH, CONGRATS on a good loss this week, WTG!!! Yes, even though the PP wasn't WW, it was good, but NOT as good as the WW, the WW seems to have a richer flavor. How about using a tortilla instead of the pita for a pizza-I even make a delicious tuna melt. Hmmm:chin: maybe that's what I'll eat for lunch today!!!
MEESH, first off, thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD. I can see, you are definitely NOT shy. My DS loves RUN LOLA RUN. How do the cookies taste? They sound fine. One cookie would be considered 1 starchy carb. I'd use carob instead of the cocoa, has more fiber in it and better for you all around. I tried clicking on the links in your post about the recipes and nothing would show, maybe it's me???
MEL, oh boy, a housefull is an understatement I think! Hope all goes well. Yes, hit all the regular spots. Don't send a thing here, esp. if you are coming down in April!!!!
BOB, it's hot and muggy here today, stop hogging any good weather over there, would you?
HEART, poor BOOGIE, hope it doesn't develop into anything more. Give him a big hug for us!!!
RENEEhttp://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign2.jpg Glad you've decided to join us. Whereabouts is ROME? I only know upstate NY, Rochester actually, though I have heard of Rome, I just can't remember exactly where it is. Anyhow, it's hard to say what you should be losing a week, each of us is so different, and it depends on how much you have to lose among other factors. Why would you not eat SF plain yogurt? I make my own fruited yogurt with ff yogurt, fresh fruit and sweetener (stevia is my choice). I'd nix the carb bar, eat something filling and more healthy. Remember, SB is NOT a low carb diet at all. Again, depending on your current weight, it doesn't sound like you are eating enough, which could hamper your weight loss in the near future. You can find just about everything you need at the local grocery store to be successful on this WOE, but a good HFS is helpful. If you are lucky enough to be able to shop at Wegmans, you're just about set (and I'm so envious!). The only thing you'd probably hear us talk about that you could only find at a HFS would be agave syrup, which being a newbie, I wouldn't worry about at this point. Try to get a copy of EAT YOURSELF SLIM, it's worth reading and is where the idea for SB came from.
LETTY, I'm with you, when I weigh, it's in the buff:^: I count my beans as a starchy carb, but I think it can be counted as both a SC and a protein source. I will find some info to better explain the way to count these. We too eat a lot of beans in our home (surprised there's not a gas cloud over our house most days). At least we both know we are getting some good fiber in!!!;)
SUGLESS, I think Montignac is bigger in Canada than SB. Sounds like you may live near Eli's sister, she too lives outside of Toronto in a town called WATERDOWN, or something like that. I know her in-laws live in a town, I think it's London?
LIN, I'm not weighing in til next month. I've hidden the scale, outta sight, outta mind!!!! Sure, post the recipe, sounds interesting!!!!
Gotta run, way late now-have been typing AND talking on the phone all morning-gotta get in the shower and get out before I find I have no time to do diddley! If I didn't get in a reply to you, hi:wave: Will catch up later!!!
Will check in later.
Have a wonderful weekend!!!

From REGISTERED DIETICIAN.COM site:
CARBOHYDRATES
The main function that carbohydrates perform in the body is energy production. Since the body works much like a complex machine, it requires fuel to perform work. By definition, as work increases so does the transfer of energy. Before carbohydrate (CHO) molecules can be used for energy, they must be broken down into smaller molecules known as glucose. When glucose is stored within the muscles, it is done so in the form of glycogen. Glucose is used throughout the day from liver stores, but as you increase your activity level, more muscle glycogen is utilized. Glycogen is also the only nutrient used when oxygen levels are low or insufficient - as during intense exercise.
Guidelines
Average person Active person
~ 55 % 60 - 70 %
There are two types of CHO: Simple and Complex. Complex CHO are nutrient dense and provide more nutrients at a lower calorie cost. They are considered to be ‘starchy’ foods, such as whole grains, breads, cereals, pastas, etc. Simple CHO contain high amounts of sugar and do not offer fuel for energy for long durations within the body. The energy provided is in simple chemical forms, so it is used for short, quick bouts of energy needs. Examples of simple sugars would include sodas, candies, fruits, fruit juices, etc. ** But fruits and juices also provide important vitamins and some minerals, unlike other simple sugars.
1 GRAM OF CHO = 4 CALORIES
PROTEIN
The main function of protein is to build and repair body tissue. It also acts as a last resort energy contributor, after CHO and fat. Overall, protein contributes a very small percentage of calories for energy use, but the body will resort to it as fuel if ‘forced’ to.
A single complete protein is made up of 9 essential smaller molecules called amino acids. These amino acids are termed essential because we must obtain them from our diet while other amino acids are made within our body. There are also many chemical reactions that require the presence of amino acids in order to occur.
9 Essential Amino Acids
histidine
isoleucine
leucine
lysine
methionine
phenylalanine
threonine
tryptophan
valine
The American diet usually consists of more than is required. As a result, many Americans may face problems due to impaired kidney function. Iincreased protein levels may also lead to calcium excretion and osteoporosis.

ONE GRAM OF PROTEIN = 4 CALORIES
FAT
Regardless of popular belief, fat is a necessary part of every cell. It also protects internal organs and carries fat soluble vitamins. Ninety-eight percent of the body’s fat exists in the form of triglycerides. This is the main form used as an energy source. Molecularly, a single triglyceride is made up of 1 molecule of glycerol and 3 fatty acids. There are two forms of fatty acids: saturated (no double bonds), and unsaturated (with at least one double bond). An easy way to remember what saturated fats are is that they are solid at room temperature (animal fat, butter, etc.). Unsaturated fat is liquid at room temperature (most oils and naturally occurring fat in non-animal foods).
Guidelines
less than 30% total fat (better - 25%)
less than 10% of total fat to be saturated fat
ONE GRAM OF FAT = 9 CALORIES
CALCIUM
Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body. Most of the body's calcium is used for strengthening bones and teeth. The rest of this hard-working mineral is found throughout the body and regulates processes such as muscle contraction and relaxation (including the heart muscle), blood clotting, and the cell division needed to make new cells and tissues.
The optimal intake of calcium isn't known, but the Institute of Medicine recently recommended that the Adequate Intake (AI) for men and women over age 50 be set at 1,200 milligrams daily, or the equivalent of four 8-ounce glasses of milk at 300 milligrams of calcium each. Men and women under the age of 50 should consume at least 1000 mgs of calcium/day.
Most older people do not get enough calcium. Diets low in calcium are often low in vitamin D and other nutrients, such as vitamins A, B-6, and B-12, riboflavin, magnesium, potassium, and folate. In addition, certain medications can interfere with calcium absorption.
FIBER
Promoting regularity is an important function of fiber (especially for older people), but it is only one of many ways fiber contributes to good health.
The fiber in whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and legumes (beans, lentils, and nuts) has been a mainstay of the human diet for thousands of years. Since the beginning of the 20th century, however, Americans have been eating less and less fiber. Today we consume about 11 grams a day, which is only about half of what we need. Although there is no established Recommended Dietary Allowance for fiber, groups such as the National Cancer Institute and The American Dietetic Association suggest that adults consume 20 to 35 grams daily.
Both soluble and insoluble fibers are important parts of a healthy diet. If you plan your meals according to the Food Guide Pyramid, choosing plenty of grains (6-11 servings), fruits (2-4 servings), vegetables (3-5 servings), and legumes (as a protein choice), you won't have difficulty getting enough fiber.
Type Effects Sources
Soluble Lowers cholesterol; helps manage blood glucose Fruits (apples, pear, citrus, strawberries), vegetables, dried beans and peas, nuts, seeds, brown rice, oat bran, barley bran, rice bran
Insoluble Alleviates some digestive disorders; may help prevent colon cancer Wheat bran, corn bran, whole-grain breads and cereals, vegetables, fruit skins, nuts
Insoluble fiber--that roughage you used to hear about--does indeed promote regularity, which is a plus for older people who may have constipation associated with irritable bowel syndrome, diverticular disease, or hemorrhoids. Because insoluble fiber, especially wheat and corn bran, keeps waste products moving through the digestive tract, it is also thought to reduce the risk of colon cancer.
Water-soluble fibers have less of an impact on regularity, but play a very important role in controlling cholesterol levels. According to the Food and Drug Administration, products that contain oat fiber can be labeled heart healthy.
BEANS - A GRAT FIBER SOURCE
There are some things you can do to enjoy beans without feeling gassy or bloated. When preparing dried beans, cook them in fresh water, not in their soaking water, which contains some of the carbohydrates that cause gas. Always cook beans thoroughly.
If you have only eaten beans prepared very plainly, it is not surprising that you find them bland. Here are some ideas for using beans in flavorful, healthful recipes:
Add kidney or garbanzo beans to minestrone; Try drained cooked or canned pinto beans as a filling for tacos or burritos; Accent with salsa, lettuce, and tomato; Use canned or cooked beans as a topping for salads; Look for canned beans with tomatoes, molasses, or jalapeno pepper.
Fiber Boosters
If you are looking for ways to increase the fiber in your diet, consider the following tips:
Eat more whole-grain bread; Eat brown rice instead of white; Eat popcorn instead of potato chips; Choose whole fruits over juice; Snack on dried fruits and nuts; Eat fruits and vegetables with the skin on; Plan a cooked vegetable and a salad with dinner; Substitute legumes (such as beans or peanuts/peanut butter) for meat twice a week; Choose a high-fiber cereal for breakfast or mix a high-fiber cereal with your favorite brand. Add some fruit; Use whole-grain flour; To avoid digestive problems, increase your fiber intake slowly over several months; Drink lots of water to keep fiber moving through your body; Use fiber supplements only if instructed by your physician or a registered dietitian; If you are over 65 or have had gastrointestinal surgery, consult with your physician before adding fiber to your diet.

Hi All:
Yesterday was a doozy, health wise TOM is here and painful, I pulled that stupid shoulder/neck muscle and feel like the hunchback of notre dame! But, enough of all that whining - hahaha - Work is SO VERY BUSY - never had time to post - then SURVIVOR!!! Went to friends' and they grilled steaks and had the most gorgeous salad - the food was so pretty - just like in a magazine - watched it and was pretty disappointed in the women's team! But, I have a new thing now -"See my hand, it is going to shut you out" - or something like that - that just killed me - I like Krystie and she is a worker - the others are exactly what she said LAZY WITH AN ATTITUDE!!!!!
Ok - enough of all that....hahahaha
Quilter - Don't feel bad - it had nothing to do with gym - it had to do with me sleeping, waking up with an asthma attack and doing something jerky in wheezing - and that was it - the gym will do me some good by making me more in shape and NOT having these stupid muscle aches and problems...so please don't feel bad - :) I NEED ALL THE ENCOURAGEMENT I CAN GET ABOUT THE GYM!!!!!
Monet - Hows the dd - I guess I better read the posts - but have not had time - you might have said and I am sorry -
Deb - Wished I was closer to help you with that cleaning!!!! I would if I could!!!!! Meanwhile, cleaning grout - have you heard of Zap? Mom said it is fantastic for cleaning grout...going to order it myself....
Fillise - like BOB said the Heat is ON!!! 77 will be the high today!!! It is so grossly hot for this time of year - not my choice of weather - rather 67.... :) You need to head on down!!!! and all the other cold weather pals!!!!
BOB - you are probably 87 where I am 77!!! It is too much!!! and the trees are blooming and getting all confused....what movies are you getting this weekend? I am going to try and get Possession...
Sorry to those I have missed but my time is up -
Take care, Sabrina

Talk about some storms...man the house was just a rattling this morning. I am so pooped. :) I hope you are high and dry Trish.
I made the most delicious brisket yesterday. I turned it sideways and cut it...like you would butterfly a porkchop and stuffed it with fresh jalapenos and green onions. Threw on some garlic power and cajun spice..inside and out. Then folded it back together and cooked for about three hours. Moist and flavorful.
I'm happy to say the scales did finally make up their minds and I'm down 2 pounds from last week...yeah. Now if it will just stay off.
Jack-K WTG getting under 160...you are da bomb woman.
Deb...the sales for the canned goods were at Brookshire Bros. As for the birthday image. I use Paint Shop Pro to work on my graphics. I found that cute little tube of the bear at a place called Kathy's and added the background and words.
Monet....hope everything is going well at the drs. office and he can find out what's wrong with you dd.
Sabrina...I hope you feel better soon. I'm hurting just thinking about it. It's rough cause you use your neck and shoulders for almost everything.
Zanne...burr 40 is not warm enough to get me outside near water...the car would have to keep it's winter coat..LOL
Fillisie....((hugzz)) Sorry this is a bad month for you. Just think spring is around the corner.
Meesh..thanks for posting your bio. It's neat to get to you a little better. I don't think to look over there unless someone reminds me.
Rosalie..the pizza sound wonderful. I need to try and make some for my crew at some point and see if they can like it. The more stuff I find SB that they like the less I have to make two different meals at dinner.
Gotta run and grade some papers. I try not to get too far behind because I am lazy. :) My little ones just started fourth grade this morning. They love when the new school comes in.
Love,
Crystle

Good Morning All!
I have a pot of hamburger lentil stew in the crock pot and it should be yummy. One thing Im really digging about SB is I can have soup again. My mom says I was a kettle raised kid. She was a single mom and had very little money... so she made kettle dinners (soups, stews, chillis, etc). So its kinda neat to be able to eat some of my favorites again (with modifications of course).
Does anyone have a list of good snacks that are satisfying and not too carby or fatty? Its be nice to have a list we could compile and post for us new folks.
Also what about fast food choices ? or restraunts?
Im a list maker.. and I refer to 'em all the time.
Have a great afternoon everyone!

Osama Bin Ladin is killed and goes to Heaven. He jumps up and yells "I've made it!" A minute later he sees someone approaching him. It's George Washington. "How dare you try to destroy the country I helped create!" Washington says and smacks OBL hard across the chops. A few seconds later, another man approaches. It's Patrick Henry. "I meant what I said!" Henry says. "Give me liberty or give me death!" and he smacks OBL hard across the chops. More people approach: Thomas Jefferson, George Mason, John Adams, James Monroe. Each man says something and smacks OBL across the face. By this time Bin Laden is reeling but he manages to get away and find St. Peter. "There must be some mistake!" he says. "Surely this is Heaven?"
St. Peter checks his book, and nods. "Yes, this is Heaven all right--you're in the right place. And it says right here in my book that you're to be greeted by seventy-two Virginians!"

Evening All:wave:
Just a quickie...Mom just left with her friend who's staying with her for the next couple weeks. Waiting for ELI to come home around 7:30pm. Michael has a friend sleeping over (sleeping where, I don't know-his room's a mess!) and Lauren is cleaning her room.
Didn't get much accomplished today. I'm not good with my times some days. Made it to the HFS to get some more pot pies (looked closely at them, not one in there was white, all whole wheat-have no clue where that long white flour one came from) and the bank, that was it. Didn't get to go volunteer at the church:shrug:
Heard from SEF, she's not been on the computer much and still not feeling 100%, but she'll be back, hopefully soon:)
Has anyone heard from SOLSHINE? How about ROSE? We need updates! I guess I'll have to get out the Cingular Possee this weekend!
MEESH, I had lots of that info about suggested menus, snacks, stuff like that-all got eaten up by a nasty virus and bug on my old computer. I really would like to put a staple thread on here one day with all that information that many keep asking, but there's not enough hours in the day, and not enough hours for me to get on the computer. I'll try again though, I've got that never-die spirit in me.
I make a legal shake that's fast to make and filling, the gals will definitely give you some ideas as well. I can't give you info on fast food, don't go there. Only thing I could think that wouldn't be too bad besides salads would probably be chili from Wendys. Planning ahead is always the best, keeping things in the car in case of emergency is a good idea. WW crackers with a wedge of lf Laughing Cow cheese keeps nicely, dried apricots, stuff like that is good.
DAWN, cute joke:lol:
BOB, loved the poem!!!!:D
Going to go and finish up what I had started, which thing, I don't know. I have a hard time starting something and then finishing it, I just to something else. I'm like that with almost everything, except ELI and the BOARD:D
Have a great nite!!!

From PHIL KAPLAN'S website:
The Fitness Truth About Artificial Sweeteners
I'm often asked about sugar substitutes. One of my consulting clients asked me a question to which I provided a very complete answer on the topic. I'll share that Question and Answer with you here:
QUESTION: I noticed the sugar free gum that I chew every day has xylitol. Someone told me that is sugar alcohol. What exactly is it and is it bad for me, and if this is bad, are there any artificial sweeteners that are good?
ANSWER: Nothing is necessarily good or bad. Some "good" foods have potentially bad properties and vice versa. Where use of many of the artificial sweeteners such as aspartame and acesulfame-K replaces sugar with zero or negligible calories, sugar alcohol does provide sweetness, texture . . and calories! I'll explain what sugar alcohol is, the good and the bad, and then, in response to your question, I'll do something that I've been meaning to do for some time . . . provide the "real story" on all of the most oft-used artificial sweeteners.
I want to apologize in advance. I'm going to give you a very long answer! I've had this stuff bottled up inside me, waiting to come out, so I'm about to let loose. Don't be surprised if within this answer I refer to politics, corruption, and deception perpetrated by the sugar industry! OK . . .there's a lot to cover, let me get started . .
Sugar Alcohols
Sugar alcohols, also called polyols, are forms of natural sugars. In chemical structure they resemble both alcohols and sugars, although they are not actually classified as either. Keep in mind, alcohol is actually the simplest sugar in existence, with 7 calories per gram, so it shouldn't be so much of a leap to understand how these compounds can resemble both.
Sugar alcohols may be listed on the label by specific name. These names include sorbitol, mannitol, and xylitol.
When added to food products in place of sugar, these sugar alcohols provide sweetness, texture and help retain moistness. You'll find sugar alcohols in sugar-free candies, chewing gum, frozen desserts, cookies, cakes, and pastries.
Where regular sugars contain 4 calories per gram, sugar alcohols contain an average of only 2.6, thus if you have equal amounts of sugar and sugar alcohol (i.e. sucrose and sorbitol) you'd only be getting about 60% of the calories of sugar with sugar alcohol in its place. It's important to note that while they may not bring about the same sudden rush of sugar into the bloodstream as simple sugars, sugar alcohols can have an effect on your blood sugar and ultimately insulin production, albeit less than sucrose would bring about.
Sorbitol and xylitol are found in plant foods such as fruit and berries, but keep in mind, sugar is extracted from a plant food, namely sugar cane. Although the sugar alcohols are present in certain fruits, the supply that is used in commercial product manufacture is usually synthetic . . . created in a laboratory.
Polyols are absorbed slowly when compared to sucrose. A percentage of the sugar alcohol ingested will not be absorbed. While that is presented as a benefit, in that you never transfer those calories through the gastrointestinal wall, an excessive amount remaining in your digestive tract can result in intestinal discomfort and diarrhea. The polite way of describing this on disclaimers is, "sugar alcohol may have a laxative effect." 30-50 grams of sorbitol would likely be enough to bring about that effect.
It's also important to note that sugar alcohols do not add sweetness to foods at the same level as sugar. Sorbitol, for example, is about 50-60% as sweet as sugar. In order to mimic or come close to the taste of a sugar laden food, greater amounts would be needed or the sugar alcohols would have to be combined with simple sugars and/or other artificial sweeteners.
Polyols have been loosely accepted by the AMA as "OK" for people with diabetes, mainly because the slow absorption keeps blood sugar spikes far lower than sucrose would. In other words, the glycemic response is lower. Again, that doesn't make it ideal. Although it is not absorbed completely, or as rapidly as simple sugars, a good amount of sugar alcohol ingested can be absorbed, those calories DO count, and a bllod sugar spike is quite possible.
Other ingredient label indications of sugar alcohol present include Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysates (HSH), erythritol, and mannitol
Xylitol is the sugar alcohol most commonly found in chewing gum. This is actually due more to the American Dental Association than any panel of nutrition experts! Xylitol does not allow mouth bacteria to ferment and cause decay, thus incidence of cavities may be reduced. Diabetics and those concerned with blood sugar irregularities should not see this as open license to chew xylitol sweetened gum. While small amounts may be OK, more than 60 grams per day can be hazardous for diabetics. When you begin to take in large amounts of xylitol, the liver converts the excess to glucose, simple sugar, and if enough insulin is not produced to handle the increase in glucose, high blood sugar and the associated risk factors are imminent. Even if you do not have blood sugar irregularities, the increase in glucose can hormonally alter insulin and glucagon levels to limit fat release.
Information put out by sugar sellers may isolate xylitol as a carcinogen, however, that information is the result of a single study where xylitol was fed to lab rats in excessive dosages.
In many supposedly sugar free candies, canned foods, and chocolates, sorbitol is used. It is used in some low sugar or sugar free "sports bars" since it does help keep certain ingredients moist and fresh.
Sugar alcohols are not limited to supermarket foods. You'll find them in cough drops, breath mints, toothpastes, mouthwashes, and even some pharmaceutical products.
If you are ever confused by the apparent math that goes into calculating calories of foods containing sugar alcohols, note that while simple sugars provide 4 calories per gram, different polyols will throw off different numbers of calories. HSH for example presents 3 calories per gram, which is only 1 calorie short of actual sugars.
Aspartame
The next one to note would be aspartame since it is so widely used and so many misconceptions abound.
In case you don't recognize the name, Aspartame, there's no doubt you'll notice its commercial presence under the names of Equal and Nutrasweet. I've written about Aspartame in response to several questions asked over the last year, so I'll keep it brief here. While many have heard that aspartame causes everything from headaches to seizures, and most health food stores avoid products sweetened with aspartame, aspartame is composed of two amino acids found in any health food store, Aspartic Acid and Phenylalanine. There is a condition known as phenylketonuria (PKU), a congenital condition that makes it
impossible for the body to metabolize phenylalanine. If an individual with PKU ingests aspartame, or pure phenylalanine for that matter, they do run serious risks. Toxic compounds accumulate in the body and lead to nerve damage and, in some cases, severe brain damage. It appears that since aspartame has become such a threat to sugar sales, and the sugar lobby is so powerful in the U.S., the risks present in individuals with phenylketonuria have been used to steer the public away from aspartame use. The supposed research evidence that anti-aspartame groups usually quote is sketchy at best, the propaganda is presented in hyped up scare language, and while I don't encourage constant use of aspartame, my experience has never led me to anyone who suffered any of those dreadful side effects we hear about. It leads me to the opinion that, if it helps you enjoy a cola or diet soda one in awhile, and you strive to avoid sugar, aspartame, to my satisfaction, has proven OK. A 1-gram packet does yield four calories, however, aspartame is much sweeter than sugar. That influenced the FDA to allow food manufacturers to discount the calories present in aspartame on food labels. Since so little is needed, I don't know that in this case it's a major bone of contention. In fact, on this particular product I believe the FDA has acted admirably. The pressures the sugar lobby placed on the FDA throughout the 80's, 90's, and going into the next millennium did not cause the turnover of aspartame approval. That's likely why there is so much underground disparaging of aspartame attempting to "scare the masses" one person at a time. Some of that underground literature suggests that the amounts used in testing was negligible when compared with actual use. After several court visits, hearings, and reviews, the FDA reviewed data including clinical studies in which humans who received single doses of aspartame up to 200 mg/kg of body weight -- equal to consuming 70 cans of aspartame-sweetened soft drink in one sitting -- showed no ill effects whatsoever.
To date over 100 million people are reported to use aspartame. The CDC estimates 15,000 people in the US have PKU. It seems absurd to use such a small segment of the population to evidence supposed danger which has never been documented in conclusive research. Sure, people with PKU should avoid aspartame, but they should also avoid milk and meats, two foods that contain more phenylalanine than diet cola. You don't see the same effort going into pressuring the FDA to make the sale of milk and meat illegal. To further satisfy pressures without pulling this product from the market, the FDA required all products sweetened with aspartame to contain the words, "Phenylketonurics: Contains Phenylalanine."
One of the reasons producers of health supplements steer away from using aspartame as a sweetener is due only to public perception. It you are trying to lose fat, there's no question simple sugars can interrupt the fat release process. When I created my EAT! formulas, I knew I wanted to make something sugar free. I didn't like the calorie content that would be added and the risk of stomach upset if I chose to use sugar alcohols. I had samples prepared using varied sweeteners. With aspartame, because it is so much sweeter than sugar, such a small amount was required I decided to run the risk of limited sales due to public perception and create the most viable product possible. In order to reduce further the amount of aspartame in EAT!, I combined it with acesulfame-K which I'll describe next.
Acesulfame-K
You might know acesulfame-K (acesulfame-potassium) commercially as Sweet One or Sunette. It is actually 200 times sweeter than sugar! It has received some bad press (again, I believe the "Sugar Powers" are to blame) in its chemical structure being compared to that of saccharin, a product that was once pulled from the shelves due to suggestions that it might be a carcinogen. While one study did show that acesulfame-K fed rats grew more tumors than those not fed the compound, more than ninety credible studies have shown that this potassium compound passes through the body unchanged. Because it is so sweet, such small amounts are used it has not been associated with any negative digestive concerns. It has an excellent shelf life, is unaffected at a wide range of temperatures and humidity, and can be used in baking so it is quite appealing for lowering or eliminating sugar content in foods. The reason I didn't use acesulfame-K exclusively in EAT! is because, although in most foods acesulfame-K offers a clean sweetness, when mixed with the vitamin-mineral formulation in the EAT! product there was a slight bitter aftertaste. By finding the right mix of acesulfame-K and aspartame, we created a delicious sugar free formula. Studies on acesulfame-K have show no effect on blood sugar levels which makes it acceptable for diabetics. Despite pressures from "political groups" to step up testing, acesulfame-K has an excellent track record of safety. I don't want to scare you with the "carcinogen suggestion," so I'm going to balance it out with some pretty powerful evidence as to the apparent safety of this sweetener. To date, over 100 credible studies have been conducted.
The Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA), the scientific advisory body to the World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, reviewed the available research on acesulfame-K and concluded that it is safe. The Scientific Committee for Food of the European Union published a comprehensive assessment of sweetening agents in 1985. This committee of toxicological experts from member countries accepted acesulfame-K for use in foods and beverages. Acesulfame-K has been used in Europe since 1983, and in the U.S. since 1988, with no known documented adverse health effects.
Saccharin
I mentioned saccharin so I'll cover that one next. You know it as Sweet n' Low. This compound was discovered over 100 years ago. Those who discovered it found it to be intensely sweet. Food processors now recognize that saccharin can actually be hundreds of times sweeter than sugar. That allows them to cut food costs substantially. Since it also passes through the body unchanged, it found its way into the marketplace initially as a sweetener for diabetics. Of course the weight loss market soon jumped on the bandwagon and saccharin became quite popular. It always seemed to raise eyebrows with the FDA, consumer groups, and of course sugar concerns, and while it was banned early on, it was restored during the sugar-short years of World War I. For the next few decades, it was manufactured in foods, in powders, and in little tiny pills. It's only drawback was a slight metallic aftertaste. Food processors learned that if they added cyclamate to saccharin (I'll get to that one next), they could minimize that aftertaste. Of course consumer groups and scientists went to work feeding cyclamates to rats. In the 1960's two different studies suggested that cyclamate causes cancer . . . at least in rats. Testers went to work feeding those little furry creatures saccharin until they were able to surmise it might cause bladder tumors in rats. (Note that any time something threatens the sale of sugar, it sooner or later is considered unsafe or dangerous). The FDA moved to limit the use of saccharin, but Americans were consuming 2,500 tons of saccharin a year. That gave the saccharin manufacturers some money, some clout in Congress, and the ability to launch the politically oriented Calorie Control Council. They managed to hold off the FDA and keep saccharin on the market. The FDA did, however, remove it from their "Generally Recognized as Safe" list in 1972. Laws were finally passed that any products containing saccharin had to post the words "may be hazardous to your health" and "has been determined to cause cancer in laboratory animals" on their labels. The power of the saccharin groups held up and while it is classified by the FDA as a "weak carcinogen," Sweet'n Low sales soar.
Cyclamates
Cyclamates do not contain calories and offer sweetness 30 times that of sucrose. I won't go any further on this one since they were banned in the 1970's. There are efforts taking place to reintroduce it, but for now, you won't find cyclamates being sold commercially as a sweetener.
Stevia
Whew! I told you that would be a long answer, but I believe that about covers it. One final note, stevia has not yet received full FDA approval. It is a natural sugar compound found in a plant, but is 100 times sweeter than sugar. It can act as a sugar replacement and is not likely to throw sugar levels out of whack due to the tiny amounts required. I won't get into blaming sugar politics for the slow approval (although I feel strongly that it is a fair representation of the delay), but I will let you in on a little secret. Many Oriental markets sell stevia. You might want to give it a try.

LOL!!!Wow you guys have my head spinning....so much information and so much help!!!!It's amazing how you keep track of everyone.
Thanks for all the responses.
Jack-K The cabbage soup diet wasnt too bad. You basically get all the fruit and/or vegetables (depending on the day) that you want. I really needed to get a big chunk off to jumpstart myself and it seems to have worked for now.

The carb bars are nice to eat at work and they taste almost like a candy bar or cookie so I don't feel like I'm missing out without a bagel or a doughnut!!!I would like to continue the yogurts, I was just worried about the dairy sugars.
Deb
Rome is not far from Rochester (about 2 hours towards Albany) Our city is between Syracuse and Utica and is where we had the infamous Woodstock fires!!!!
You guys are wonderful, and so full of energy. I will be finishing the book this weekend (Just kinda browsed through it quick so far) so I'm sure I'll have lots more questions soon.

Hi All! It's Friday and I had to work today because of Tutor Training tomorrow. It's been a nice slow day, and I'm all ready to go. Just need to hang around until it's time for Paul to leave work. Everything is going well. Did my 30 minutes on the TM with Jackie on the other end of the phone today. It's too early to get up, but I really want to make this work. She's such a pleasant person to talk to first thing in the morning. But I am going to have to start going to bed earlier, because this is the second day in a row that I almost fell asleep at my desk. I don't like that feeling.
LETTY---I know what you mean about getting behind on the board with this bunch of talkers. If I miss one night, it's terrible to try and catch up. I hate to skim, but sometimes I'm forced to. I like Food Network shows, but that week of valentines day I had to turn it off, because all they kept showing was chocolate stuff. That was torture! I think Tyler Florence is a hottie!!! And he's so fun to watch. I learn a lot from him. I like when he takes them shopping for the right kitchen utensils and pans. BTW, did you mean the food he makes is yummy or HE is yummy???? Just wanted to clarify.
MONET---Sorry you may miss your retreat this weekend. What have you come up with as alternative plans?
JACKK---I can tell from your posts that you sound exhausted. This week did a number on you. I hope you get a little "me" time this weekend and can relax and recoup. Enjoy the dinner tonight. Think of me when you're there, because we do stuff like that. Be sure and tell me if they do something extra fun or new. So we can steal the idea! Hey, thanks for all your sweet words. I love to hear that kind of encouragement. It really helps keep my focus straight!!! You're a doll!!!
LIN---Yesterday got kind of warm, but today it started raining here and now it feels colder again. They are calling for a wet weekend and then more of the "bad stuff" next week. Gosh, I hope they are wrong!!!
ROSALIE---Congrats on doing so well at your DIL's dinner. And you were probably thanking her for doing the legal dough. That sounds great!!! I think it's time for me to buy some of those ww pitas and make my own personal pan pizza like so many of you do. I forgot to post the Fennel Recipe. Thanks for reminding me. I'll make a note to do it tonight.
ZANNE----Sounds like you hit the ground hard with those oatmeal cookies. Can we give you a hoist up and back onto the wagon??? I'm surprised you didn't get a major headache. Well, we've all done it . . . gone overboard . . . so just dust yourself off and climb aboard. There's lots of room.
Hey DEB, that's great about Michael getting the grades he deserved. That's so wonderful. Does that mean he can take a break now and you can take down the revolving door at your house? BTW, I've got dust bunnies so big under my bed they have their own zip codes. I just don't know how they get there. But they are there and now moving!!! I hope you wore your protective goggles when you went to wage war on them. They can be vicious. You'll be sneezing for a week.
TRANQ----Okay, so I don't feel guilty anymore about your pulled muscles. Thanks for making me feel better. I hope you get to feeling better soon. I hate when I'm sitting in the front seet and I reach around in the back and wrench my neck. Ouch, that makes me cringe just thinking about it.
COUNTRY---Congrats on being down two pounds. That's great! It can stay off. You just make it be so!!! That brisket sounded great! How clever of you.
MEESH---I am trying to only snack on fruits and veggies. I know, that probably sounds boring, but it's working okay for me. Oh, one other thing that I have every once in a while is an ounce of mozzarella (made from skim milk) and a half serving of turkey pepperoni. That's a good snack that has a good amount of protein. I'm glad you are asking such great questions. I'm excited to hear what others' answers will be. Fast food choices? Wendy's chili works as a legal selection. I used to buy the MacDonald hamburgers and throw away the buns. Same for the Wendy's Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger, but those are no way low fat.
BOB---So what's Skeeter ailing with now? Has he been off his food or is it his skin that's bothering him again? Poor little critter! Tell him Maddie sends doggie best wishes. I hope he's back on his feet soon.
Okay, well, I'd better quit for now. Tomorrow is another Tutor Training Class and I want to get to bed soon. I won't be able to get on til at least tomorrow night. It's a long day, but should be fulfilling. And yes, it's supposed to rain all day again. We are getting pretty soggy around here. We're going to start to smell musty pretty soon.
Take care all.
Have a GREAT weekend.

I'm so frustrated I had to post. I was really interested in purchasing the Michel Montignac book & come to find out that it's out of print (I'm sure you guys already knew this). Half.com's cheapest copy is $25 & a brand new copy is about $60.00 at Amazon. It really frustrates me when vendors take advantage of a situation. I'm going to try the library but I seriously doubt our teeny library will have it. At the going rate I wouldn't be surprised if someone borrowed it & never returned it.
Sorry guys, just had to vent.
Quilter - I was talking about Tyler Florence when I said "yummy". The fact that he can cook only makes him that much yummier.:T

Howdy...I went and looked at ebay for ya...I don't know if you like ebay or not but there are two listings for Eat Yourself Slim. The first one has two days left and is stating at .99 and the other has seven days left and is starting higher. I hope this helps you in your search.

QUICKIE, on my way out to a few garage sales before I have to come home and take MICHAEL downtown for his film class.
LETTY, will look for the book later for you, have lots of sources. Looked at Ebay that COUNTRY suggested, the .99 cent one is not the same book, unfortunately. The other one is being sold from the UK, but still a good price.
Toodles!

I'm up early getting ready for Tutor Training. So I wanted to take a moment and wish you all a wonderful weekend. I'm hoping and keeping my fingers crossed that we all do well this weekend and stay away from the nasty stuff. If you've already made some unwise choices, don't let that ruin the entire weekend. You have plenty of time to salvage a happy weekend with no guilt on Monday morning.
Remember the taste is only temporary, but the damage can seem permanent!!! Hang in there, gang! We will make it!!!
Catch you later,

I see a few of you are looking to buy this book but not having much luck. I bought it a few months ago with no problem, but that may be because the book is published in Canada.
I ordered from amazon's Canadian site. I just checked and the book is still available there. I hope this link works: www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/701-9490572-5481152
If the link doesn't work, go to amazon.ca and do a search for "Eat yourself slim". There is also an Eat yourself slim cookbook. I don't know if you could order in the round about way thru the Canadian site and have it delivered to the States. The book is $16.11 in Canadian dollars. Plus delivery. I don't know how it works on the American side of the boarder, but there might also be duty to pay too.
It is a good book and I'm slowly working my way thru it.
Also, I don't know if this is true where you all live, but I used to work in a library and if our branch didn't have a particular book a person wanted, we would try to get it from another branch in the system. If that failed we'd do a search for the book all over Canada. Maybe your library could try to interlibrary loan the book.
Just my 2 cents on the topic. Have a good weekend all.

Hi Everyone - (dd here again for Yellow Rose who is dictating this response).
I want to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers. They were much appreciated. I am still having to take a lot of pain medication, so I am kind of in and out of it, but dd and dh have been great with waiting on me and keeping me well fed (OP of course).
When I saw my GYN the morning before surgery she lowered my dose of HRT by 1/3 which I absolutely could not believe....poor timing I'd say! So I am adjusting to that also.
I'm feeling well enough (I think) for dd and I to go for a VERY short stroll - I'm getting a little stir crazy in the house.
I hope we hear from Solshine soon.
DD and DH are going shopping and will be looking for the Shelton Chicken Pot Pie - wish them luck.
Bye for now

Hey All:wave:
Just got home from dropping Michael off at film class. Didn't have to kill time today at my Mom's house as I usually do because after he goes to film class he'll be volunteer ushering at the Miami Film Festival until 6pm, then I have to head back downtown to pick him up, so I have a few hours. Going to take Lauren at 1pm to go see Chicago.
Spoke to SOLSHINE this morning, she's feeling dopey, but it's from the pain meds, not that she's feeling dopey for the **** of it. She's back to work on Monday and not looking forward to it. Foot is healing but still painful. VINCE is playing nursemaid and as I understand he's taking his job seriously. She hopes to get on the board soon, at which time she'll give you all the details of what's going on with her.
BOB, see, no call and you still got up early! Better luck tomorrow! The day you need to sleep in, you should have Kate make Skeeters breakfast. I'd offer to cook for him, but.... What book you be bidding on????
RENEE, don't worry, a few times on the board and you'll feel like it's old school. So you aren't far from Rochester. I love upstate NY, you all have the best garage sales up there. One year I bought so much stuff I almost had to have the kids sit up on the roof of the van and hold on to the luggage rack! My entire family is from there (I'm a native Floridian). Don't worry about natural occuring sugars, as long as you don't see any added, that's what's most important.
QUILTER, in his program, there are no brakes, unfortuntely. Still have a revolving door, his friend Alex came home with us yesterday and tonight after a party Michael has, he wants Alex and his friends Sly (yes, her real name) and Lizzie to come home and watch a movie. Not really happy about this because he was suppose to clean up his room before anyone came over. He gets away with murder! Dust bunnies-no, these were dust dragons!! It was gross!!!!!
LETTY, I would first try to see if you can get the book from your library system, but if not, don't worry, if you aren't in a real hurry, you'll find it on Ebay at a decent price, eventually, but if you are in a hurry, as you've seen, for some odd reason, they are highly price. I sure wouldn't pay that ridiculous price that I see. Read ZANNE'S post and my reply to her below.
TRANQUIL, nothing in the way of garage sales today, I think I spent not even $3.00 today. Oh well. Will give you a buzz later!
ZANNE, I go to the CA's site for Amazon sometimes-you must of been reading my mind. The books can be cheaper when the dollars are converted. This would be a little over $10 in USD, plus the shipping, which, if I remember correctly, isn't too bad, and we don't have duty here to pay. I don't know about other states with their libraries, but here, ours is so big that they just order it from another branch.
ROSIE, tell DM that we are all thinking of her. Her and SOLSHINE can be druggies together-they both seem to be dopey, but with good reason;) Hope you get in your stroll and get out of your cabin fever. Good luck with finding the SHELTONS, that's what I'm going to have for lunch in a few. Remember, if you are going to WHOLE FOODS, check both the freezer area and where they carry their frozen meats, which is where they carry them in my area, not in the regular frozen food section. I like the chicken a lot more than the turkey. No need to get the organic, the other one is the one you want. Feel better!!!!!!! THANKS DD for doing a great job in more ways than one!!!!
Going to go get something to eat before we go to the movie. Will check in later today at some point.

Hi All:
The weather has been AWFUL - hot and stormy - I could hear the trees knocking up against the house, scary!!!!! My gates were blown shut and there is debris all over my yard....
BOB - I liked the Banger Sisters! Glad I rented it...I have a big credit at Blockbuster because they had some problem with checking my movies in and charging me late fees :) I am set to rent some more - cannot wait to see Road to Perdition, never saw it in the theater....Love Tom Hanks....
Deb - Good talking to you and sorry to hear your garage sale shopping was not too successful....finally decided on what I am having for dinner....can you guess? SALAD!!! hahahaha
Yellow - Glad to hear you are up and about some, enjoy the painkillers as much as you can!!! I too am going to start looking for the Shelton Pot Pies!!!!!!!
Solshine - Hope you are doing better and not in too much discomfort!!!!!
Zanne - (Nothing to do with woe) Do you have a LUSH Store near you? They sell the best bath stuff, but sadly we don't have one hear - the only one in America is one that just opened in San Francisco and that is just too far away to enjoy :)
Well, I better get going....have to take care of my critters. DS is away at his dad's, so I am alone with 2 hungry cats, 1 hungry hound, and 2 very hungry chattering guinea pigs....

Hey, guys!!! What's shaking???? I have been a big slug today. Taught the class yesterday and it went well. But boy, was I pooped out by the time 5 o'clock came. Paul came to pick me up and took me to my most favorite restaurant. It was such fun. It's a romantic place to spend sometime together. I always feel like we are in an urban neighborhood of NYC. Anyway, I ate more than normal, but brough a sizeable amount home. Then today I did an extra 11 minutes on the TM to make up for that little food fest.
Did get on the scale this morning and was down a half pound. So I feel like I did okay yesterday.
Well, not much new to talk about. Catch you all later,
Kim

Hey all--I don't know how many folks will see this on Sunday night--but wanted to pop in and say that I'm still alive!
Birmingham was hectic--and we kept having to drive in awful storms, but we got there, did what we had to do, and got home safely! Today has been busy with church duties.
Deb--So sorry I missed you call yesterday! Chicago is great isn't it? I bought the CD and have been playing it around the house!
OK--I'm going down for the night. I hope to get back to replying to everyone on tomorrow's new board!
Nighty nighty nite!

WOW, board sure is quiet this weekend. Will just say hello and call it a night. Will have the new board up and running early tomorrow morning. Going to try and muster up enough energy to get in my walking and then afterwards, have my yoga class, so I'm hoping to get in a post between the two if I'm able, otherwise, after the kids get home from school. Will tell you about the weekend then, nothing exciting, trust me;)
See you all tomorrow!!

RENEE- The Light Done Right 3 Cheese Ranch is personally my FAVE! It's legal just don't have the lettuce floating in it,lol. Very tasty and I think it has only 1 or 2 gr sugar. Tip- in salad dressing, if sugar/syrup is listed in the first 3 ingredients- then don't buy it.

Well, guys- today was awful with my eating. It was my great grandmother's birthday and my Mom fried chicken, and had some kind of rice casserole, coleslaw, and of course a absolutely divine caramel and cocunut butter pecan cake! Over the course of the day, I had 3 slices!! Totally blew it today and then some. I WAS down to 208.5 this morning. I will probably be up several pounds in the morning due to all the carbs- fluid retention. Why I couldn't just eat one little slice and skip some of the other things - I don't know. Yes, I do- no willpower, it sucks. Okay, well I guess tomorrow is as good a day as any to start my detox. We went to the grocery store and I stocked up on produce and sf jello. Oh, and I found Sugarbuster's Caesar Dressing- it was costly though- $4.19. It has a bit more fat than I like, but no carbs and no sugar- now if only it tastes good. We also ran into one of Robby's cousin's who was down visiting(they live in Texas) and she said her baby has a heart murmur(6 months). I asked if it was considered an innocent murmur or not. She said she took him to the cardiologist in Texas and they said it's something they would keep an eye on and he would probably outgrow it. I asked to look at his feet, so I took his socks off and his feet were very cyanotic(purple). I told her she better be taking him to get a second opinion. She said I know but we can't take him anywhere else because of the insurance. I told her that even if she had to travel at least 6 hours, get him to another card- heart defects are nothing to mess with. She didn't say anything, and then I got frank with her and said Look, you're baby can literally drop dead without notice. I think that sunk in. Okay, gotta go- still feeling nauseous from my migraine yesterday(too bad it didn't ruin my appetite, lol).
