Thanks for all the quick comments. I will wear the black. No, it's not my parents' anniversary. The synogogue is honoring them for all they do at the Temple. Isn't that wonderful? They are even picking them up in a limo.

Ramona-Talk about the pity pot!! Get off it, girl!! BTW, I sent my DH an email card, but I didn't get one. My DD said that she saw him write one to me. Wonder who he was really sending it to?? Actually, it got lost in cyberspace. Anyway, that's about as far as my Valentine's Day went. My daughter did get me a tin rose. What is romance??? I can't remember!!

Welcome to our little trio, Sharon. We are very blessed to have each other. You are doing great on the weight loss. You must feel a ton (lol) better.
Shelley how was your evening. I bet you looked gorgeous. What was the special event?
Happy Belated Anniversary Sherry. I thought about you last night when we were on our way out to dinner. I said to Larry to make sure when we come home to post to you and wish you a happy anniversary. Sorry we forgot.
Debbie how sweet, sounds like it was a nice day for you.
Gayle how did the painting go? Are you enjoying it? You have so much talent.
Jennelle admitting that you had a set back is the first step on getting it back together. You will. That is the past it is just today that you have to worry about.

Last night Larry and I went out to the birthday party. They had live music so we danced the night away. It was a great time. I put an ad in the paper yesterday for Larry under love lines. It said
Larry
Today,
Tomorow,
Forever!
Darlene

Someone at work noticed it and told him. I didn't think that he would find it unless I openned up the paper for him. He was impressed.
GTG sister is here.

Welcome to the Floozies Sharon!!! :balloons: I'm a newbie here myself. I think I've been posting for about a month now. Wow on your weight loss!!! Way way cool. I am back on my program and am doing a pretty good job. I'm going to have to borrow some inspiration from you!

Valentines day was very quiet really. We had to go to my daughters basketball game, which she told us was in Bonduel (8 miles away) so we got there............... NOBODY THERE. I finally called a GF and she read the newsletter which informed us the games were in Clintonville, (now 30 miles away!) My dorky daughter INSISTED that the game was in Bonduel and that the newsletter was wrong. They were PLAYING against Bonduel in Clintonville. Luckily the game got postponed because they didn't have enough ref's, so we got there in just enough time! So would anyone be interested in taking one 12 yo off my hands? Please? Anyone? We then just went out for fish and went home where we gave our cards to each other and passed out on the couch, LOL. Romantic, aint it? My father and step-monster (lol ok step-mother) sent the kids a HUGE box of candy! Gee thanks!! And it's the good stuff too, chocolate peanut butter hearts, chocolate caramel hearts, those conversation hearts, chocolate covered cherries, and just a butt-load of chocolate. Jimmy asked me this morning as he was ironing my work shirt what he should do with all this candy. I told him I didn't care, but get it out of my sight!!!

Ok now for some venting, ( like I didn't just p@@@ and moan here already) My oldest has problems with reading. We recently sent her to Sylvan Learning Center for testing. She was found to be at a 3rd grade reading level. She's in sixth grade. There is something wrong here don't you think? We have our girls in a private school here in town because we think that they're getting a Christian education is important. DH and I both went to parochial schools and neither of us suffered from it, LOL. We have known that Sarah has struggled and we're seeing it really take a toll on her. I've begged and pleaded with that school to help out, and they have but only in limited ways, such as the principal "helping" her with math. Of course his idea of help is to give her the answers so that he can move on and do other things. This is not the type of help our daughter needs. So we went to Sylvan. Now like everyone else, money is tight and we've asked for scholarship help because it cost a lot of money to use Sylvan's services. The principals answer? (Yep the same guy who "helps" Sarah with math) That we don't need the money, we don't need to send Sarah to Sylvan, and that Sarah's problem with reading is that it's her fault and she's lazy. UM NO! So now it looks like if we're go get Sarah any type of help through the schools is to put her in public school. This isn't something we're against, in fact we'll do it after that answer but what really makes me sad is that this is the only school Sarah knows since we moved here. Sarah doesn't take to change well and going from knowing all your classmates to 200 is going to really send her reeling. Also our youngest is really thriving. Luckily she's not having problems with her reading and the small class setting, and having the whole school population not even exceeding 300 is helpful for both my daughters. But if that school is going to take such a cavalier attitude, then how can I justify sending my girls there? This is supposed to be Christian based. How does that man get off saying it's my daughters fault because she's lazy. She's not she's works hard to be at where she is and she KNOWS she's behind and it frustrates the **** out of the poor kid! Especially now when she's 12 and we all know how important it was to be exactly like everyone else when we were that age.

Ok I'm done. I had to vent. DH is just as frustrated and even more angrier than I am. He's the one the principal said this too. I think it's good he didn't tell me. He'd probably be rubbing his behind from the chewing I would have given him.

Anyways everyone have a great day. I'll work on my attitude now, LOL. Ramona, wanna join me? Snicker snicker.

Lisa get use to the dorky daughter syndrome! I too have a teenage daughter and it doesn't get better. She will be 17 in May and still very dorky and a walking zombie.

About the school, Knowing how to read is so important that I think that if her school is not willing to assist her in the help that she needs then it is time to move her. Before you send her to a public school go in and talk to them and tell them what the problems are. See what they will do to help you. It will be hard for her to change schools for awhile but I think that if you don't get her help it will be harder for the rest of her life. which is better?

Lisa: I know we have some gals in education, and they may have more specific answers and probably better ones. My first reaction was to check into the public schools. If nothing else, they may know of some specialized program, maybe even an after school program that Sarah can take advantage of and still remain in her current school. Even without a program, would she be willing to read with you? If so, get her a card to your local library, let her pick out the books, and read with her. The one thing I would avoid is changing schools before next fall.

Welcome Sharon. You'll love this group. I was "here", gone for a couple of years, and when I came back, felt just as home as I did before I left.

My only vent today is the weather. We're back to a white ground and crummy streets. I believe they have backed off from their original 10 inches, and hopefully, it won't stay long.

Lisa, has your daughter been tested for dyslexia? My oldest was diagnosed in the 3rd grade only after I insisted that he be tested. His teacher told me I was an hysterical mother and there was nothing wrong! Well guess what? I WAS RIGHT!!! His IQ is quite high, as with most dyslexics, but he was so frustrated that he hated school. It took many years but he learned to compensate and was an honor student in high school. He still spells phonetically and I am sometimes the only one who can decipher what he writes. In the public schools here, it is a law that a child with learning disabilites is entitled to an individual tutor, even during class. They also are allowed to have tests given to them orally. PLEASE, have her tested and INSIST that she get the help she needs. Her self-esteem is at stake here. I get so angry when an educator lumps children who do poorly together and labels them as lazy. UUUUUgggggghhhhhh!

OK, off my soap box now. I'll be thinking of you and wishing you the best. Please let us know how it turns out. Now about the other daughter......if I were there I would give you a big hug because I've been there too! I'm shaking my head and laughing because sometimes that is all you can do. LOL

Later all,
Ramona

We had her tested at Sylvan, as one of my concerns was dyslexia. Sylvan, said no it's not that. We've also spoken to the school, hence the "it's your daughters fault" answer, also gotten the "not enough time/money" answer. I agree that we should move her and I think that moving her now may be better, but I do have a very big obstacle.....DH. He's going to go to the board of ed this week and have a talk with them. We do have Sarah read to us a lot out loud, and go over her homework with her because she's got a comprehension problem. Something just seems not to click for the poor girl. I will be calling the middle school on Monday and speaking to a GF of mine that's a teacher there. Try to find out what they offer there. If I like their answers then I'll just convince DH and move Sarah over to the public school and keep Mary our 5yo at St. J's til school ends. I have found out that a few families have left St. J's because their kids needed help and the school was either unable to, or just didn't care to help the kids. It's too bad really because there's some really talented teachers at that school who are just as frustrated as we are and go out of their way to help as much as possible.

Ok, it's back to work for me. I should do some review work for class on Tuesday, and the ambulance could use a wash. Lucky we have a heated garage! It's only 10' today.

Hi ladies..thanks so much for the warm and toasty welcome!:D

I am not doing too badly so far today..wok with a terrible headache, think its caffeine withdrawal! I am slowly trying to get back in the saddle and be 100% on plan, but I have recently discovered that i am a binge eater and that has been what has been going on for about the last 6 weeks! :(

I lost all the weight last year on a very restrictive diet, but one that works really fast, its called the six week body makeover, by provida life sciences. Basically you do a blueprint, determine what body type you are and eat six small meals a day. the basic premise is no salt (even salt added to processed foods), no sugar, no oil, no dairy, no bread, no flour or wheat products(so no simple carbohydrates.) it takes a while to get in the swing of things, but the fast results kept me motivated to keep on plan.

Then came christmas...so my poor body didn't know what hit it, it had no of the above things for seven months then BAM everthing at once! I had a sore bloated stomach for three solid weeks, to the point that my skin hurt to touch it! Since then that has eased and I have been on and off my program week after week, and binge binge binge when i do badly...it really is a vicious
circle!

Anyway, enuf whining for me..good to hear you all survived Valentines day in sort of one piece! (I had lasagna and chocolate mousse cake fordinner with my finace who weighs 120 soaking wet..they'll be calling us jack spratt and his wife soon! )

have a great day,
Shazzy

We had a wonderful time last night at the dinner dance. There were about 80 people there to honor my parents. They received a plaque, and the Rabbi gave a beautiful speech about them. My 2 cousins were there. They are both so crazy!! One of them is a personal trainer, and she has a 6 pack that you wouldn't believe!! Her arms are incredible, and she wears a size 0!! Of course, she has never had kids, so I am just wondering if a 6 pack in achievable if you have had kids!! She is the same age as me (49.) My other cousin is 55, and she is wild!! They are sisters. All in all we had a wonderful time.

Lisa-Maybe Jennelle can give you some input. She is a teacher.

Shazzy-You must have incredible willpower to be able to stay on such a restrictive diet for so long!!

Dee-I said a Mishabera for Jackie the other night at Temple. How is she doing?

Debbie I love your new pic. You look awesome.
Hope you are all having a great weekend.
You wouldn't believe my day!
Larry and I decided to use up a gift certificate we had for a brunch, before we went we checked out our lotto ticket. No we aren't millionaires we won $10.00. Just enough to pay for the rest of brunch. Had a lovely brunch, came home and went for a walk on the river with Amigo. Rushed out to the Legion for chili bake off fund raiser. My mom , dad, sister and her hubby were there. We entered our name in the silent auctions. There were a ton of prises to be won, anything from t-shirts and hats to coolers, tv, weekend fishing trips and 2 cash prises of $100 and one cash prise of $300. Well they start calling out names for the prises. Mom won a spice rack. Then we won $30 in cash. Then my sister won a $15 gift certificate for chinese food. Then we won $20 gift certificate for taxi (which Larry takes to airport alll the time) then mom won a complete set of hockey cards plus a hat. There was 500 cards. After that we won the biggest one. The two night fishing trip. It includes cabin for 4, boat rental, tank of gas. It is worth about $400. We couldn't believe it. There were many other prises given out so we didn't feel to bad. We won a lot considering that there was around 250 people there. Well that was quit the weekend.
Maybe it will bring me lucky tomorrow when I am at the dr's office. I need a biopsy and a very small mole removed from my neck. It has been hurting and bleeding for awhile so the doc said it would be better to remove it.
Shelley thank you for remembering Jackie. She hasn't started treatment yet. Hopefully this week. If she doesn't start it this week she is going on a trip with mom and dad to the casino for a few days.
We will come back and post tomorrow. King Pin is just going to start. Can't miss it, I am really enjoying it.

Ramona, Sher & Shelley: Men can be butts, but I guess we still love them!!!! I am "one luckey dog" to have you guys as friends!!!! Couldn't resist that one!!!!

Dee: How are you feeling? Great job on winning the prizes!!! When are you going on the fishing trip?

Titan Dee: Did you get your furniture put together? I bet it looks great!

Shazzy: I unstand the whole binge eater thing all to well. Please stay focused on the success that you have had so far!!!! You have lost so much!!!! I never heard of the eating plan that you was using. Can you write down a day or two of sample menu's?

Gayle, I want to see the picture too!
cobblershoppe@arkansas.net

I may need you to make a road trip to help me out. I'm in the process of painting a race car for my best friend. He wants a certain style done for the numbers and I'm not getting it to come out right. I'm trying to use my "mind's eye", but I think my "mind's eye" needs glasses because it sure isn't looking very good!! I hope you continue to enjoy your lessons!

OK, I have to eat my words and hang my head in shame. I went to spend my certificate and man did I rack up! They had their Luxiva gift sets left from Christmas on sale so I got 4 products that would have cost around $100.00 for 26.00. Then, they were having a gift giveaway with purchase so I got another $40.00 worth of lotions and wrinkle creams for free!! LOVE freebies! So, with all those goodies, I expect to look like a 19 year old in a couple of weeks!:o :D :s:

My best friend's mom is having a brain tumor removed on Wednesday. It is not malignant and she should be fine. Her name is Carol. Please remember her in your thoughts.

We didn't go to our Quail banquet this weekend. We have been a sponsor and gone every year since 1987. We just didn't feel like being around all those people this year so we stayed at home and....."made up".:s:

Did you racing fans see the crash yesterday at the Daytona 500? It is amazing that anyone can walk away from something like that.

Well, back to bill paying. Talk to you all later......
Ramona

p.s. Debbie, I went back to see the picture everyone was writing about. You look great!!!!!!!

A little bedtime prayer. . .

Now I lay me down to sleep.
I pray the Lord my shape to keep.
Please no wrinkles. Please no bags
Please lift my butt before it sags.
Please no age spots. Please no gray
And as for my belly, Please take it away.
Please keep me healthy. Please keep me young,
And thank you Dear Lord For all that you've done.
Amen

Lisa -

Talk to your local school district about having your daughter tested through them. The fact that she is a private school student has absolutely no bearing on the matter. As a taxpayer and a resident of the district, they MUST provide your daughter with ANY educational services they would normally provide.
This also means that, even if you choose not to take your daughter out of private school, the school district must provide services for your daughter such as tutors or inclusion teachers should she be diagnosed with a learning disability.

Remember, the school district CANNOT deny you services - it's illegal. If they try to give you the line that they are unable to help private school student, remind them of this. If they continue to give you crap, threaten to call the state board of education.

Dee, how did it go today at the doctor?
Congrats on the prizes you won. Do you like to fish? Will you go now or wait until the spring thaw?

So, how are these gas prices affecting you girls? Gas is 1.60 here now and expected to be 2.00 per gallon by spring. Do any of you have to drive long distances for work, etc? My hubby drug his mountain bike out the other day and had new tires put on it. He is already riding it to work and back, but we only live about 2 miles from our store. The gas prices are driving up the cost of our goods which in turn has to be passed along to the customer. I really hate that. Things are expensive enough without going up all the time.

Sherry, maybe I missed it, but what did your hubby ever decide aobut the new job?

Ladies, I had the most delicious apple for my snack today. It was a Cameo apple. They are very crisp and sweet. They are also HUGE! I counted one of them as two fruit servings. If you have any in your stores, you may want to try one....very yummy!

Shelley, I'm so glad you had such a nice time at the party. That is wonderful that your parents were being honored for their hard work. Sometimes we take people for granted when we really should be praising them. I bet you looked beautiful......just as good as your six-pack cousin!!!!

later all,

Why is it so hard to attach a picture? Whenever I try, the file is too big. Do any of you know how to make it smaller?? I made the mistake of uploading Snapfish to my computer, now all the pictures convert to it. I can't get it off, according to DH. Take a tip from me---don't ever upload something you don't know about!!

Hope everyone had a good OP day. I really blew it this weekend, but today right back on track. I even went to Curves this morning. :D

Sharon..... I'm sorry, I forgot to Welcome you to our group. What an amazing weight loss!!! I know you feel like a whole new person. It hard to get back on track but I'm sure you will get the moviation here to do that.

Ramona...... Gas is around the same price here. Me and hubby both have over 40 miles round trip to go to work. If gas goes much higher, we will have to car pool...which I hate!!

Shelley.... You may need to make your picture smaller when you scan it. Snapshots are usually too big to post.

Sherry..... Loved your bed time pray, does it work?? LOL I'm so glad you had a Sherry-day yesterday. You deserved it!!!! Saturday night was so much fun, next time we need to let the guys win one game of cards though.

Dee...... You lucky dog....LOL. That would be the ideal thing for hubby to win, a fishing trip. When do you plan to go?

Gayle..... When I tried to open up your painting, my puter froze up. :( I'll try it again later.

If you miss me posting, please send someone out into cyberspace to find me. My puter is on it's last leg. :( :( Hubby said he would buy me a new one for my birthday, now this is a man that complains all the time about me being on it. Go figure...Men!!! But going to use this one until it dies.

Hello Floozies!!!!!

Oh gosh, don't tell me!!!! There is FINALLY another race fan on this thread?????? Ramona, Steve & I do the fantasy racing with each of us having a team. We also try to go once a year to Kansas City to see the Nascar guys. We have met Kurt Busch, Joe Nemechek, Sterling Marlin and we have pics of several others. Are you painting the numbers on an actual race car? Steve wanted to race this year but finances are not looking that direction. I wanted to paint the car a bright blue ground, then add vibrant splatters of color all over in hues of hot pink, yellow etc. Then add some cartoon characters. Can you believe he said NO!!!! BTW: Seen the crash Sunday, it is a miracle that those guys can walk away!

Sher: Who are the Floozies getting ready to celebrate a birthday???? I know of one...

Deb: See, it was so ugly that it broke your "puter", but at least it sounds like you may be getting a new one!!

Did any of you watch the "Joe Show"???? I missed it all season but tonight we caught most of it. It looked like he made the right pick!

Shelley: I have problems with images too. I have a photo program that I usually have to go into and edit over and over and over again before I can get the image small enough.
