Ok, I am not doing well today at all. My hands, wrists, feet, shoulders and my jaw are throbbing. I can hardly eat because I can't open and close my mouth very well My jaw is totally locked and my TMJ joints are swollen. Can I just say how much I HATE arthritis. URRUUGGHH, why can't I just be like a normal person and live life with out constand pain?!?!  :?: :?:
Sorry, I don't mean to come and vent...but I really can't move and even typing is killing me right now.
Morning Kier, glad you started the thread.
Have a great day all.

I know what you mean, I have TMJ too. Some days it can be absolutely horrible. I have to take Aleve and Ibuprofin everyday throughout the day!
Good morning Kier!
Not much new to repost today. I ended getting off babysitting early yesterday, so that was cool. Went home, ate earlier than usual (which was good because i was hungry!) and played some playstation. Even got to bed at 9pm. Last night rocked :)
Angie can you try a hot shower do you have a hot water bottle
I'm sorry about your pain hon I'm right there with ya robot buddy with the cold and snow Im in a similar spot Maybe you can check out an arthritis water class at your local gym theres one here but its not at a time when i can take it it might help relieve some pain

OK this is crazy - I am actually going to see my doc today because I suspect I might have TMJ - for about a week I have had jaw pain on the left side - but its accompainied by an earache, ear popping and a sinus headache. Plus, my upper teeth hurt! So I don't know if I am just really badly infected, or if I have signs of TMJ.
Angie and Lori - can you tell me about it??
On the WW front - hello Kier!! I am so glad you are re-committed and that you are giving it one last hoorah before you make the next step. I am too and I am happy to report that (although I hadn't changed my sig before) the past 2 weeks I gained 2 # /week and finally I said - this is crap so I really stuck with it this week and I lost 5# so I am at 200 today!! Woo hoo!!! I have broken down this last 35# (as my first goal is 165 and then my doc will discuss if I should go lower) into little success of 5#. Today is my first reward day, I have allocated myself a new CD. So, I'll have to go pick myself up one after the doc's appt today. Yay!!! It feels so good.
Other than that, went to see my good buddy and she lost her job again, plus her car is a write off (her fault accident). So she is really blue. To top it off, her husband (of 5 months) is always off working til 3am...every night...hmmm.....I think it sounds fishy, personally. My b/f is an engineer too and late nights at the office aren't 3am and not perpetually. I think something's up but I didnt' say anything cuz I thought it was not what she needed at the time.
SOOOO......that is it on my end. I hope the board picks up today!!
Angie - hope you feel better.....
Lo Bellle Congrats lady!!

Hi Girls,
I am back with a vengence!! I am now realizing that summer is just around the corner and I have 25 lbs to lose!! So, I am back journalling today, and getting on the treadmill tonight!!!
All of my jeans are so tight, and I hate that. I am tired of only being comfortable in my pajama bottoms!!
So, I am going to keep posting regularly. I need your support! :)
KO ~ Way to hang in there girl! We are all here for you. When is the ring coming??????
Angie ~ I am so sorry to hear you are in so much pain! Try Kier's solution. Are there stronger meds you can take??
Lori ~ I am glad you are back, are you keeping your issue under control?
A big "Hi' to everyone else. I will post more in a bit, need to get some homework done.
Later!

Tonya - Yes, that situation has been under control lately. I have to make it a long-term thing. I know I may have some slip ups and that I can't let those tiny slip ups turn into a week of slip ups! I have been OP since Thursday, and feeling good about it :)
Belle - Congrats on the loss! As for the TMJ, when I was little (7 years old?) I had an appliance put in my mouth to bring my bottom jaw forward and push the top jaw back becuase I had such a HUGE over bite (used to have teeth marks on the roof of my mouth from my bottom teeth). This is what started my TMJ. Because my jaw doesn't sit in the joint correctly, my muscles work to hold my jaw in place. Most of my discomfort lies there, and that is why I take the aleve. Most of the time tho, you can catch me massaging the muscled in my cheeks and it looks funny :) I get headaches too, but not too often. And I can't eat "chewy" things like bagels because my jaw will hurt. Oh, plus when I open my mouth, my jaw "shifts" to the left hand side in the middle of opening it all the way. So it hurts when I have to get my teeth cleaned or a cavity filled because my jaw is open for such a long time. Don't know if I helped you or not hehe
So, I haven't really done work yet today. A little, not much. My manager is out until Friday (woohoo!) so the rest of the week is looking good for me! The only sucky thing is that tonight I babysit and I won't get off early, so I won't get home until 8:30 and then I'm gonna want to go to bed at 9 and the Bruins game starts at 7:30 and they are playing the Canadiens and I'm gonna miss it :( and it should be a really really good game. That was a run on sentence if I ever saw one :)
Oh and I looke dup my ya-ya name. It is "Marchioness Eats Like a Bird" and my married ya-ya name will be "Marchioness Hidden Horse". I think I like the married one better hehe

I confess that until this moment that I've never heard of TMJ.
Kier, Angie, Belle - I'm so sorry that you are in pain. Hope you are all feeling better soon.
Lori - glad you got a chance to relax last night.
Tonya - I'm totally with you on the jeans vs PJ thing. I hate, hate, hate the way I feel in my clothes right now.
Work is still crazy and hectic but by next week I should have a semblance of my life back. I can't wait! I really want routines again and time to focus on things that are important to me.

Hey everyone!!
Everyone sounds so motivated, why can't I get motivated like that? Maybe I should say "why can't I get motivated like that for more than about 3 days?"
OK, maybe I sound stupid, but what is TMJ??
Kier--It sounds like you're totally recommitted! Send some of that commitment my way, would you? :) I do OK for a few days, but I just can't get it together...
Angie--You poor sweetie, I'm sorry to hear that you're so miserable. Maybe a hug will help, I'm sending you a long distance one right now...
Lori--You play playstation? Maybe you can help me understand how Aaron can go over to a friend's a play playstation until like 3 in the morning and when I ask if he did anything else, the answer is no. Is it really that addictive? Can it really capture your attention like that? It's a mystery to me because I've never spent much time playing.
Belle--Breaking down your goals into 5# intervals is a really good idea, I should probably do the same. And, I definitely should purchase myself something when I reach that goal. Good idea, thanks for sharing it, I'm definitely going to use it!
Tonya--I totally hear you on tight jeans. Right before the holidays, I got some size 12's for the first time ever and they fit great. Now, they're tight and I don't want that--I haven't been wearing a size 12 long enough to be too fat to fit in them. And I laughed at your PJ bottom comment, that's what I spend a lot of time wearing, too. :)
I have WI tonight and I'm not feeling very confident about it, even though I spent an hour working out last night and took a 20 minute walk yesterday. I did OK during the week, but ruined my progress on the weekend and that's starting to become sort of a pattern for me... :(
Anyway, I do have a pile of work to get to, so I'll stop back in later today!

Laura--I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's never heard of TMJ. Sometimes it's unbelievable how much you remind me of myself. We seem to like the same foods, weigh about the same, lead the same hectic lives, it's just unbelievable how much you remind me of me. :)

Hey gals, not much time here-I'm off to work shortly. For those of you wondering TMJ stands for TemporalMandibular Joint. Its bascially your hinge joint that allows your jaw to open & close. For those of you with problems I can't help but reccommend intra-oral massage (in your mouth). It feels funny but it really helps b/c it gets into the intrinsic jaw muscles.
I'm up 0.5lb this week. Not really suprised. Everyday starts out really well but by them end of the day I seem to have sabotaged myself. Argh! Every morning I have good intentions. I think I am a little blue right now too which isn't helping. DH & I are fighting a little too much for my liking. We usually never fight but lately-argh! Plus I am so ready for winter to be over already! I find myself everyday dreaming of getting away somewhere. Oh well. Not much Ican do about it at this point. Anyway I should go get ready. I'll try to pop in after work.

Don't know if any one remembers me, but I used to hang out here a while back (maybe last year this time!). I have since lost 10 more lbs since I was last here...and am going full forced!!!
I restarted on Jan 6, 2003 and have lost 10lbs that I gained over the holidays. I always hate re-losing lbs. Ugh!
Any way...I want to start posting here again, as I need all the support in the world.
I see a few names I remember {rhubarbjelly, sweatergirl, KO}...but doubt any one remembers me. This can be a HUGE board that overwhelms you at times :) hehee!!!
Hope no one minds me rejoining your group!!!!

aaargh!! I just lost my whole post, I hate it when that happens. Hi to everyone, to those of you with TMJ pain, have your dentist check to see if you grind your teeth, that can be a major cause of that type of pain. We're having a girls movie night tonight - how to lose a guy in 10 days. should be a fun night - hope to avoid the junk food though. Gotta get back to work, I'll check in later.

OK, ladies, I'm very upset right now. Here's the deal: my neighbor has had a dead buffalo laying on his picnic table since Saturday. It's been bothering me and I finally called the cops today and asked if there's anything that can be done about it. The guy said to me "Do you know how big a buffalo is?" Well, I grew up in Nebraska. I went to college in a town that had a buffalo refuge nearby, yes, I know how big a buffalo is. The cop treated me like there is nothing wrong with having a carcass laying in your yard for three days... Am I the only person who thinks there's something wrong with that? I sure hope not.

Thanks for the welcome back Tonyalyn...I remember you too. I think we both used to post in the daily menu journal thread! It feels good to be back :)
JessIsOk -- I think that's DISGUSTING! You are not the only one seeing something wrong in a dead buffalo laying on a picnic table for 3 days. YUCK!!!! So are the cops gonna do anything????

Hey all, haven't been here since last week... I was sick all weekend with a hacking cough, stuffed up head, and then flu like symptoms that could have been the flu. Going on day 4, thought I was getting better this morning, but am now sick again. This is not fun while being PG. Plus my Braxton Hicks contractions (for those non-mothers, early contractions) are hitting me big time!
Jess... I think when you live in town, dead carcasses should not be allowed. A couple years ago, my strange neighbor that is now gone, had a dead dear hanging from his back patio. I looked out the window and saw that. Too gross. When hubby goes hunting, he leaves the animals at my parents or his, depending on where he is hunting because I don't think it should be at our house!!
OK, have to track down some 7-up...

Jess - that's ridiculous! I'd say call animal control. Rotting carcasses should not be laying out anywhere, especially a backyard.

Well, as you know, I called the cops and the officer said he'd go see what my neighbor was doing with the buffalo and let him know that it was offensive to some people. I was sitting here questioning my sanity (since the cop made me feel crazy), and finally convinced someone from work to go with me to drive past the buffalo. We got there and the buffalo was gone. All that remained was the bloody tarp it had been laying on, and one of its hooves. So, I don't know if the cop had anything to do with the removal of the carcass or if the guy was just trying to get around to cleaning it, but either way, it won't be staring at me anymore when I get out of my car. Thank heavens that situation is resolved...

Holy Union problems! I have had about 10 e-mails today from the union about strike stuff. All the colleges and universities are trying to co-ordinate a general strike (we're not very happy with our current government) so things have been going back and forth. Because I just started in September, I found out we've been without a contract for 1 full year. They're offering us 0-0-0 over the next three and they want to take away 2% of our benefits! What kind of crazy place is this?
OK, just had to rant a bit. If there is a general strike, we could be out for a while.
