Howdy Ya'll

Well the snow is almost gone! We ended up getting about 5 inches. The sun was out all day & it was about 36 degrees so most of it melted. So...back to School tomorrow and we have no more snow days left.

I didn't do a lot today. After cleaning Mom's house & my house all weekend, I decided to rest and watch TV. I did make some more "Welcome Signs" for our site too! :D
(Hey..the PRES. was here in Nashville today!)

Debbie,
It was good to talk to you today and play catch-up! I have really missed seeing you. Remember tomorrow we are BACK to working out at Curves and back OP!! We have to get these BODS looking good for Florida in June!!!!!!!!! :o

Dee,
Gayle is right....We are going to have to ride you for awhile over your boo-boo!! LOL!! Thanks for the laugh...I NEEDED that!!!
I think I want your hubby!! He's romantic, helps around the house and wines & dines! Also..he plans surprises for you!!

Gayle,
Hey...Wayne is low maintenence too!! Give him a bowl of beans & cornbread and he's happy!!! LOL!! I've been meaning to tell you something! Can you believe that I have NEVER tasted WINE!!!?? Maybe I need to come to KS!!!

Donna,
I hope that everything goes great on the refinancing! Good luck and hope that your future looks wonderful!!! :) I joined Curves in Jan. I didn't get to go but maybe 4 times since I joined. With the snow we've had,the spell I had being depressed and with Wayne being sick, the time wasn't on my side.Debbie & I will start tomorrow and back OP too!! I really like it and it's something that I can afford.

Ramona,
Wayne sure knows how to work that remote too!! He can't work on shoes but he can fix a car! That's it! Off work, come home and lay on couch with remote in hand! LOL!! BTW: On a serious note: I'm still saying a prayer for your Sons!!

Dee (Titan Card Fan),
Did you get to go to the funeral home today? I still can't get it out of my mind. Please know that I'm thinking of the family. Please keep in touch...We're here for you!

Lisa,
YOU'RE A HERO!!!!!!!!! You were so great for saving that little boy that was choking!! I bet the Parents were so grateful!! Since you live in a small town, it may be in the paper!! You're an ANGEL!

Shelley,
What a great idea you gave!! With so much worry, praying and saddness going around, We need to tell something happy!!! I guess what made me happy today was being off work (with pay!) and being able to REST!! I sure needed a day to do NOTHING!!

Jennelle,
Have you lost more weight? Are you still doing BFL? Also, I meant to ask you on last post, Is your School going better now then how it started out?

Vicki,
Well it sounds like by the news that ya'll got more snow then we did in KY?! Hey, dont get too busy with all your projects to post!! I would love to have chat again soon!! It's so much fun!! When is a good night for you?

Jeanne...............Doni.................Carol,
Hope you are all ok!! I'm running out of time! I need to take my shower, wash dishes and iron for work tommorrow! Take care!!

Love To all,

Sherry - Thanks for asking! :) School is going a bit better. The most exciting thing was doing my mid-year review of my students' reading levels. I found out that my AM class raised their reading level by an average of 1.65 grade levels and my PM class raised theirs an average of 1.63 grade levels. That's in SIX MONTHS!

I'm awesome. (Humble, too! )

Jennelle: Great job on your mid-year review!!!!! It really says something about the way that you teach!!!!!!! You should be proud of yourself!!!!

Sher-bear: No drop of wine has ever passed your lips???? Come to Kansas and I bet you will be dancing on the tables in no time!!!! Seriously, if you want to taste it, go light...start with a very weak fruit flavor with low alcohol content. Perhaps a Boonsfarm brand or a white zin. I prefer a white semi sweet and a fruiter wine, I love a sparkling wine!!! Steve likes red and dry, to much for me!!!! One sip and I can no longer feel my throat!

Shelley: Sorry I didn't post this earlier! What made me happy today: I made it to my early Monday morning meeting , I finished the newsletter in one sitting and the weather was nice today.

I forgot to post something happy yesterday. Our tax refund came in, we needed it badly!! Also, I heard that a couple of teachers at school told a friend of mine that I am the hardest worker in the office. That makes me feel good about myself.

Jennelle-You should be so proud of yourself!! Raising the kid's reading levels is a wonderful feat!!!

Sherry and Debbie-My SIL and BIL came down here from Tn. because they couldn't handle the cold. They are going to move back to Fl. Do you want to buy their home? They are on 60 acres and have a beautiful house. I think they want about $800,000.00 for it!! Just a drop in the bucket!! It might be awhile before they sell it.

I need to get my booty in gear and go to work!

Shelley jokes make me happy........Here's one but for some men it is no joke!

EXCUSES WHY MEN FORGET VALENTINE'S DAY

* The Florist couldn't find your house, did you move?

* I sent a candygram. Someone must have eaten it.

* The Hallmark Store was closed, and I didn't want to send less than the best.

* I sent an e-mail card. You never got it? AOL must have messed up again!

* I left a message on your answering machine to meet me for dinner. Where were you?

* I didn't know you liked jewelry.

* I thought Saint Valentine's Day was a Catholic holy Day.

* Your mailman must have been shot in a Post Office Massacre.

* I thought we would do something different this year.

* I thought it would mean I was making a commitment.

* You didn't remind me!

LOL Dee too cute!!!! I'm still waiting for my co-worker to get back to me. He told me he'd wander on back to our little corner of the world on his lunch hour.

Sherry, I remember you saying something about the Richard Simmons Diet/deal a meal........... did you find what you were looking for? I have one at home I don't use. Would you like it? It's just sitting on my desk and I've got all the books that go with it too if you're interested.

Now the Hero thing..... I really am not a hero for doing my job. Thanks for all the compliments but that's what I went to school for and I was only doing what I was taught to do. Also, I've been educated through Native American Grants, which are federal monies. So with the exception of our Canadian Floozies, really it was just everyone's tax dollars hard at work. But remember, LOL it's your tax dollars that pay my salary too, whether I'm on a call or sitting her typing away on the computer. LOL boy that sure puts things into perspective, doesn't it? Today is my last day until I come back on Saturday tho! Which is a good thing, I need some sleep.

Janelle! What a fantastic job you've done!! You truly are a hero for working with children. I've spent the afternoon in my youngest daughters kindegarten class and let me tell you, that teacher is one special lady! All teachers are special people. There's absolutely no way I could ever do that! Those kids wear me out!

I'm back and thank you all for your comments. I ended up not going to the funeral this morning. We had gotten just enough snow overnight that I wasn't sure how the interstate would be. I will try to go back to the fund raiser they are having for the family in March. There was one bit of "good" news last night. Drew (the 8 year) is doing so well that his mom thinks he will be home from the hospital in a few days.

Sherry: I'll have to stop in Clarksville the next time I come down and bring a bottle of wine. Then you can come over and have a glass with me.

But lets not be too rough on Sherry. My former manager took her 3 "teenage" grandsons to Nashville last year for spring break. She said she went to a grocery store Sunday to stock up on things for the boys to eat in their motel room. They were going to be there a week so she thought it would be nice to have a bottle of wine so she could have a "quiet" (with 3 boys) drink each evening when they returned to the motel. She asked the clerk where she could buy it, and his reply was this is the bible belt. She never did go find her wine.

I received this from my friend in Indy (a Colts fan)

Read, laugh, and share with your friends:

1. If you love something, set it free. If it comes back,it will always be yours. If it doesn't come back, it was never yours to begin with. But, if it just sits in your living room, messes up your stuff, eats your food, uses your telephone, takes your money, and doesn't appear to realize that you had set it free ... You either married it or gave birth to it.

2. Reason to smile: Every 7 minutes of every day, someone in an aerobics class pulls a hamstring.

3. They keep telling us to get in touch with our bodies. Mine isn't all that communicative but I heard from it the other day after I said, "Body, how'd you like to go to the six o'clock class in vigorous toning?" Clear as a bell my body said, "Listen fatty ... do it and die."

4. My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely.

5. The best way to forget all your troubles is to wear tight shoes.

6. The nice part about living in a small town: When you don't know what you're doing, someone else always does.

7. Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today.

8. Amazing! You hang something in your closet for a while and it shrinks two sizes!

9. Sometimes I think I understand everything, then I regain consciousness.

10. I read this article that said the typical symptoms of stress are eating too much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Are they kidding? That's my idea of a perfect day.

Floozie alert!!!! Floozie alert!!!!!! Floozie alert!!!!!!

We have a fellow Floozie about to celebrate her birthday, I believe in 14 days!!!!!!!!!!!
Start posting your thoughts and suggestions on what we should do to make our "special" Floozie feel that much more special!!!!

Deb: yeah, guess I should really keep my hubby too....
I like Ruban and the girl that sang right after him, the over the rainbow girl. The talent seems lacking this season compared to last, but then again, we haven't been able to watch it every week to stay updated.

Vickster: I have a friend that loves to stamp. She makes all of her own cards for special occasions. I can't believe that stamping is winning over watching the little ones! LOL!

Shelley: Whew!!!! That was a close one!!! Thought I was going to get a kick in the butt! Then I remembered: oh yeah, I don't exercise!!!

Titan Dee: #8 is the story of my life! Thanks for sharing!!!

Lisa: I am proud that my tax dollars go towards educating future hero's like you!!!! Great job with the kid!!!! Enjoy your days off!!!

Sher: Go ahead and keep Wayne, I'll keep Steve, we would each have to retrain if we switched. Guess we outta just leave well enough alone! Of course, there is Larry!!!! Dee already trained him up right!!!!! How about we do a "two for one" special, ship our guys out to Dee and share Larry???? :smug:

Have a great day girls!!!!! Love ya!!!!! Gayle

Hey all,
I typed up a reply earlier and lost it while looking at old posts...I hate when that happens! I don't know about you guys, but it is hard for me to remember who said what without looking back at the old posts. Must be that oldtimer's disease.
So did anyone watch that rip-off episode of "Joe Millionaire" last night? I couldn't believe that it was just a recap of prior eps. when I was expecting to see the big winner...oh well, something to look forward to next week!
It's been pouring rain here today. A big change here since it was in the 70's and 80's all through January. I just hope it doesn't put a damper on our camping plans for this weekend.:o
So I ordered two Atkins diet books off of amazon.com today. I'm thinking that I have an issue with carbs so this will be the true test....I gotta do something!
Well I hope all you floozies are well.:)

Good morning Floozies,

Hope everyone's doing ok. I didn't get a chance to post yesterday. Had a Gyno appt. in the morning and it didn't go as expected :( They found blood in my stool (yuck) which can be indicitave of my Ulcerative Colitis flaring up again. Since I've been feeling better I've been a bad girl about getting colonoscopys done (last one was in 1997). To be honest, I hope that's all it is - the dr. freaked me out with horror stories about colon or bowel cancer. So I made an appt. with a new Gastro guy but can't get in before March 6. Then he found my thyroid was enlarged (?) so he took some blood to see what that's all about. Then, I asked if he could talk to my husband and I (who had driven 45 minutes from work to meet me there) about some fertility issues (I was married once before but never had children due to ex's sterility - tried Artificial Insemination, but it didn't work. Also have a history of fibroids and endometriosis). The dr. said he didn't have time for a discussion, which really p*ssed me off since I had booked a double appt. just for that reason. He did talk to us for a couple of minutes where he proceeded to tell me my time was running out as I'm 42 years old (duh, I know that, that's why I wanted to talk to him about options) and then went on to talk about the chances of miscarriage (50%) if I DO conceive, as well as the risk factors for a Down's Syndrome or handicapped child, which I am also aware of. To be honest, hubby & I aren't even sure we want to pursue having children, we just wanted to get some insight into our chances, etc. Anyway, the next step would be to have some bloodwork done (which would necessitate me taking Clomid for a month, which I'm not sure I want to do). Anyway, I walked out of there in tears, feeling like an old lady that was falling apart! Not a good day. Hubby is being wonderful and supportive, I just feel a little overwhelmed.

Anyway, sorry this is so long - I know there are certainly worse things going on in the world besides my stuff. Just having a blue day. Thanks for letting me vent. I'll try to get back to post personals before I leave for work.

Thanks for listening.

:) Donna

Donna don't feel bad about venting, that is what we are here for. We are all here to supposrt you, especially in the bad times. I hope all goes well with your tests. Sounds like you have a big decision to make. We will help you through that to if you want to talk about it.

Gayle and Sherry you are welcome to send your hubbies up here! Just give me some warning so I can get my 6 foot bull whip out.

Sherry I always look forward to the new thread to see what you have created. I really enjoy it. You are the best.

Jeannie I really hope that it doesn't rain for you this weekend. When you get back from camping can you give us a trip report? It will help some of us that have the winter blues a free vacation.

Ramona any word on Dan? Has he been sent over? Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Debbie I didn't think that I would here you say that you are glad to be back at school. Well it won't be long that you and Sherry will be off on holidays. Larry, Desiree and I were planning on going to Jamaica in march for spring break with another family. We just found out that Larry may not be able to get holidays at that time. That is the only time that we would be able to go, so we are really hoping that things will turn out.

Well I got to go out and freeze my butt now. The cold weather hasn' t let up yet.

Have a good one.

Back again w/personals:

GAYLE: Good luck with the donation drive. I can commiserate - I'm the financial secretary for our lake association, and it's so hard to get people to want to be involved in the community. Like you said, it's hard to get all fired up when noone else seems to care.

LISA: Had to laugh at your husband be "dishwasher-challenged". Mine has the same problem. I can have the dishwasher wide open, and he'll put the dirty dishes on the counter on TOP of the dishwasher! I just don't get it. Although I can't really complain - we have a deal now that he'll cook dinner as long as I clean up.

SHERRY: I have to add to the thank-you's for making our thread so beautiful and fun to read.

JENNELLE: Congratulations on the increase of reading levels! You must be very proud - and you ARE awesome! We need more teachers like you.

TITAN CARD FAN DEE: Thanks for the laughs - I definitely needed them.

VICKI: Good luck with your stamping venture. I love stamping - as part of my graphics business I also design greeting cards, thank you notes, etc. It's great fun.

DEBBIE: I agree with you about American Idol. I didn't really watch it last season, but so far I haven't been all that impressed with the talent.

----------------
I've been thinking about joining your exercise thread. I've been so unmotivated lately it's not funny. Are there any rules in order to join?

Better get going here. Sending hugs to all the rest of the Floozies - have a great day.

Dee - Thanks for the kind words. I'm sure I'll need all the Floozie shoulders in the days ahead. With the other news about the UC and thyroid, Jim & I didn't even discuss the baby issue last night. Whether or not we want (or would be able to have) kids was something we discussed at length before we got married (he's 7 1/2 years younger than I am). His stance was that he would be fine with it either way, if we were meant to have kids it would happen. Mine was that I'd been through such brutal infertility treatments in the past that I wasn't sure I wanted to open that door again. So we both just kind of let it go and let nature take it's course. Recently we've talked about the pros and cons again, realizing that nature wasn't cooperating and discussing whether we wanted to pursue it more aggressively. Problem is we vacillate so much back & forth. We are very blessed to have a carefree lifestyle - get up & go whenever we want, indulge in hobbies and basically do what we please and we wonder how our relationship would change with a baby. Are we being selfish? I think it's part of a matter of age - after being childless for so long, you get settled into a lifestyle. Then on the other side of the coin, I know we'd be great parents and are we missing something by not having children? And what about the risks (to myself and the child) involved if I do get pregnant? Jim said something yesterday that really made an impact - he said "If we had a child with Down Syndrome or a handicap I would love that child unconditionally but would never be able to forgive myself for bringing that child into the world to face all those hardships". I guess that says it all (or at least a lot). Anyway, forgive my rambling. It helps to get it out a little.

Hope you have a wonderful day!
:) Donna

Donna: I am sure that whatever decision you and hubby make will be the correct one. Personally, I feel that regardless if you have children or not, it is Gods plan and meant to be that way. Bravo to you and hubby for putting up with the dr's BS!!!! His percentages seem rather high to me, plus he sounded like he was in to much of a rush and very uncaring towards you.
I have an 18 year old and a 4 year old, married a man the second time around 7 years younger. In between I had a miscarriage, one never knows how life will play out. Is adoption an option?????

Tinfoil Rose
02-12-2003, 11:56 AM
Gayle - Thanks for your post - I too believe that if it's meant to happen, it will. I try to draw comfort in that and not "interfere" in the "big plan" as much as possible. Sounds like we have some similarities in second marriages to "younger men" :) I've been so blessed to get a "second chance". We haven't ruled out adoption, but I know that we wouldn't be able to go the agency route due to my age and the time factor involved. We would most likely have to look into private adoption (which has it's own pitfalls, I know) but not sure if we'd have the money for that. That decision will come down to how much and if we truly want children at all . . . ah, that's the tough one to answer!

Thanks again.

Jeanne: I wasn't happy with "Joe Millionaire" either. I knew there was a 2 hour special next week, but thought he would make his decision and then spend the next week convincing her he was still a good guy even though not a millionaire. I'm still betting he picks Sara, though I think Zora (not sure of that spelling) is the better of the 2. Did you catch they are also bringing back the other girls and there is suppose to be a big surprise ending?

Do you watch Bachelorette too? I saw it last week for the first time. The guys there did seem more determined to be picked.

Debbie: I'm really hoping that you, Sherry, and I will get together my next trip down there. I was there last October for a Titans game, but came in on late Saturday afternoon and then left again very early Monday morning. I only got to spend about an hour at Opry Mills and that was to eat and find my Titans calendar for 2003.

7 Valentine tips fellas better not forget
Dr. John Gray, MarsVenus.com

How many women actually expect love and kisses wrapped in hearts and flowers on Valentine's Day? The answer is easy: They all do — every single one! That news may not exactly be music to a man's ears, but any occasion that traffics in paper hearts and sentiments will never be a must-celebrate holiday on Mars. Fear not: Men can be trained to get in the proper spirit.

Listen up, guys. Since this is not a day to drop the ball, here are seven suggestions from MarsVenus.com to keep you in play:

1. Don't forget — ever.
Valentine's Day is not February 15th or 16th or 17th. It's the 14th. Yes, a dozen long stemmed roses are cheaper on any other day of the year, but miss the 14th and, trust us, a mere dozen won't begin to make up for your lapse.

2. Have a plan.
Order flowers and candy by the 10th. If you wait until the Day of Hearts, you're doomed to the dog-eared dregs of the card rack, sad-looking chocolates and long lines. You'll be one more hapless guy trying desperately to score some Chanel No. 5 and still beat the traffic home.

3. Don't recycle.
One of our readers recently wrote in about her husband trying to get away with reused gifts from the year before. Her husband rummaged through her underwear drawer and pulled out her most cherished keepsake, the first valentine he had ever given her. When she explained her hurt feelings, he tried to justify his way out of the mess — it was his way of saving the environment. Our advice: Try recycling the sports page before he reads it. He'll get the message.

4. Think small.
Big isn't always better. A ring. A truffle. A rose. The Z3, the tiniest of BMW's. Any of these will do.

5. Wrap it up.
Buy a gift and spend he extra two bucks to have it wrapped. (The chance that you'll locate the right paper at home is a 50-to-1 shot.) Leftover paper with clowns or dinosaurs just won't do. Reserve a great place for dinner. Then declare your love in writing. If you're not great with words, thousands of cards are available to say something meaningful.

6. Get home early.
There are hundreds of days to stay late at the office. February 14 is not one of them.

7. Go ahead — fall in love again.
Acting romantic may have the surprising effect of making you feel romantic. Let her know that underneath your hard exterior lies a heart that begins beating faster when she comes into view.

Donna-I am sorry to hear about your conceiving problems. I didn't start having children until I was 35, and I had my oldest girl when I was almost 40. I think the dr.'s are full of crap. These days women my age now (soon to be 50) are still having kids. As far as your UC goes, have you ever been to www.ibdsucks.com? It's a great website for all of us IBD sufferers. I tend to only visit it when I am having a flare, but the advice there is wonderful. There are so many people that I can relate to.

Gayle-You are too funny!!

Dee-Are you feeling better today?
