Jan you are quite the early bird today! Must be anxious to get back to your classroom and routine.
Thanks for listing all the names, we have gotten to be quite a crowd!
Hopefully this will be a week for me to get back into rooutine too.
10 yr old DGD is with me today, they have no school, she wants me to take her shopping for her mom's bday present, that will be fun.
I will go play Bunco tonight, this hostess always serves a fruit type dessert, so will plan ahead for that.
DGD who is in Kuwait says she has to stay another 3 months because their replacements got deployed elsewhere. She has such a great attitude about it all! Her sister has enlisted for 6 yrs and will leave for basic in July. Should be graduating from basic in late August, I hope to be in San Antonio for that! Maybe get to see Jan and dh.:)
dgd is ready fo breakfast, must scoot...more later.

Hey Janet and everyone. I have been out for a week, because my daughter had surgery to remove her adnoids. She is doing great and back at daycare. I had a cold last week, but it paid off because I lost 3.2 pounds. I received my 10% key and my 25 pound star in the same day. I am very happy. I have 67 more pounds to loose and I am on a mission. I will check in later to see how everyone else is doing.

Hi Tonya! I am so glad to hear that your daughter is doing so well after her surgery; I know that must have been stressful for you, and then you had a cold on top of all that! I am so happy for you, receiving your key and star!! :) :) You are doing so well, and sound so determined; I just know that you will see this through all the way to goal and maintenance!
JOYce, that would be so wonderful to see y'all in August! I sure hope it all works out for you. Hope you had fun with dgd yesterday! Did you find a present for her mom? WTG on planning ahead for the bunco party; that's what this journey is all about, I'm starting to realize, planning ahead.
Am getting back into the school routine, and trying to wind down from last week. It's funny how you get all pumped up for something like that, and when it's over, you have all this nervous energy to cope with. The scale is going up and down daily, which I just don't understand, but I'll have to get it in line by this Saturday for my February weigh in. I think I'll try the low end of my points for this week, so I'll have a margin of safety on Saturday!
Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!
Regards,
Jan

Well, I started out on my trip good. And exercised alot (walked & swam) but still managed to go up 2.8#
So, obviously I really overdid it. Seems anything extra makes me go up. And I felt it - but thought maybe it was just guilt.
Still I am glad I went to my meeting & got weighed. Then had coffee with the girls & caught up on our week.
Hope everyone else is doing well - talk to you soon.
This week I am lower carbs & increasing protein. Out meeting was about that & maybe I am eating way too much carbs. We'll see.
Bye

Hi Bandit! Wow, you definitely have the right approach to this journey; keep on keepin' on, that's the ticket! This takes persistence. I also had gains during my journey, but it all worked out fine in the end. You might be retaining water, too. I think increasing protein is a good idea; I keep reading about that, about how important it is to include a little protein with every meal. And avoiding refined carbs and sugar. I'm sure next week will bring another loss!
Not much happening down here. DH and I will probably go to a mtg on Saturday, where I'll weigh in for February. Gotta watch the points this week! We had a lovely walk yesterday at sunset. I need to get back in the habit of getting up early for those morning walks, though, esp. now that it's not so cold.
Hope everyone's week is going well! See ya later!

I GOT MY BLOOD TEST RESULTS IN THE MAIL TODAY IN PREPARATION FOR MY PHYSICAL ON FRIDAY.:yikes:
The doctor is sure to have harsh words for me...It is a miracle that I am even alive with this 'borderline high' cholesterol and 'high triglycerides'!
Reading the brochure I see that women are at 12 times higher risk of dying from heart disease than from breast cancer.
My Sis's cancer was not breast, but after reading this brochure, she is very much on my mind since it is only 6 weeks since she died.
I still have several weeks paid for in WW, which I have not been attending. :( and I will go to check out Curves, several gals from church are doing wonderfully with their program!
time for me to be really serious. (duh)

Hi Bandit! Sounds like things are going really well for you; you're right, staying focused on this is so important!
JOYce, good for you, getting a physical and seeing your doctor! And hey, borderline isn't so bad, is it? I know you'll get those numbers down. (Oatmeal helps, right?) I have heard good things about Curves; let us know how you like it! There's one right next door to our WW mtg place, but we only get there at most 2-3 times a month. Guess I'll have to stick with walking!
By the way, speaking of walking, there's a writer from Good Housekeeping that left a msg on our machine tonight; she's doing an article on how walking helps weight loss. I'll call her back tomorrow. I believe so strongly in walking, and how it not only burns calories but helps change body chemistry; I hope her article will convince more people to try it. Dh and I did another sunset walk tonight. I really enjoy our time together, out on the road.
Hope everyone's having a good week! Tomorrow's a hectic day. Have to take Dad to his podiatrist, out of town, and then go to our girls' basketball game (also out of town) tomorrow night. Will have to plan ahead to stay OP!

Jan

You are right, Jan, walking is the best! My feet wouldn't do it very well right now, don't know what is wrong, except this extra poundage...will describe to doc on Friday...have a list for him!:spin:
Are you going to be in this article on walking?? That is great! Let us know.
Gonna go make more glass beads tonight..so much fun!

Hi everyone:
Keeping OP so far this week & have been shovelling so much snow I can't believe it. Again last night for about 40 min.
This is the 1st winter without my ex there & I keep thinking maybe this is some sort of punishment for me. Anyway, I feel like it is good exercise - my arms & legs are very stiff & getting lots of fresh air.
Joyce - hope your physical goes well.

JOYce, glass beads, what fun! My sister does that; I have such a lovely collection of them from her, something in every color. I like to wear them on a round wire necklace. I hope your visit to the doctor goes well today. Do you think shoe inserts might help with the walking? My dad's podiatrist made some for him, and it helped a lot. Re: the magazine, the writer called again last night and did a brief interview; I don't know if I'll be quoted in the article or not, but if so, will definitely let y'all know!
Hi Bandit! WTG on staying OP and getting in all that exercise! I haven't shoveled snow since I was a teenager, but I remember what hard work it was even then. Be careful not to overdo and get sore! Stay warm!
Am enjoying Valentine's Day; found a vase of roses on my desk at school this morning, from DH I'm sure. No special plans tonight, but tomorrow we may go to the coast for the weekend, and attend a WW mtg down there Sat. morning. If the scale stays the same as it was this morning, I should be OK for weigh in, I hope!
Anyone have special plans for the weekend? Have a good one!

Jan

Oh Bandit! shoveling snow has got to be good exercise!
Hope I never have to find out! small chance in 'sunny Calif!'
(It really is sunny this morning, nice after several days of rainstorm!)
JAN, I'm only a beginner at the beads, I've had 2 lessons, just got my own torch set up at hoome last night. (my Xmas present that I have been too busy to get) I'm anxious to get out there and practice! But am sure that I will take another lesson or more. :) Would love to see pictures of your sisters beads. Is this the sister that is the painter?
Must go have my oatmeal and get ready for the doctor visit.
Wishing you all a good and Happy Valentines Day:love:

Not as bad as I feared. It is my 'good cholesterol' that is high. but the triglycerides are too high and I need to get those lower or have diabetes. so he just made it quite clear, once again, that it is up to me, to lose weight and get more active. <<<sigh>>> I knew tht already! but i have new motivation to do it right!!! I know that you have heard that before :^:
