Good Morning everyone:

For the next six weeks, I am trying to eat "paleo/primitive", dramatically increase the amount of conditioning I do, and lift heavier according to a new plan with my trainer. I think that I can do anything for 6 weeks, provided I do not injure myself. If you want to know more about the food program, search "Mark's Daily Apple." Mostly it is no processed foods with a focus on meat, eggs, fruit, some vegetables, nuts, some dairy, etc. It is higher protein and lower carb. I've already lost two pounds since Friday. (I've changed my ticker to reflect where I really am.)

Hi Ladies:)

Had a busy morning with banks & other errands. Tomorrow will be busy also, with the plumber on the morning and than going to the hospital for my breathing test.

RHONDA-Thanks for the pages.Good luck with your new diet. I should cut down on my carbs as I'm not exercising like it did before my hip started hurting me. Thanks for sharing the web site with us going to check it out.

VICKIE They ave lots of frozen entrees there as my DD has a T/J 5 mins. from her and they both had the some foods. They have a two large aisles of froz. entrees, I just bought the ones I like. I'm sure you find something that you'll like.

Have a great day

Rhonda, thank you for the new pages and also for the website. I'll go take a peek.

Vickie, did you get your applesauce made? Do you buy the apples or raise them? We had apple trees in Montana and used to harvest a lot of fruit. I made applesauce and canned apples. This info would shock my Texas friends. I'm known as the "fast food queen" down here.

I'm away all day. I'm an alternate election judge in our elections today on amendments to the Texas constitution.

We expect low turnout and a VERY long day at the polls. I've got my books and crosswords.

Good Morning Ladies:)

I have time to post this morning as my plumber can't find a helper to remove my water system to get to the filter. I have to wait until next Tuesday instead.
So I'm going to Vote and than go to the bank to deposit the condo fees for this month.

RHONDA-I looked up the web site Marks Daily Apple and don't think his diet is meant for me,thanks for sharing it with us anyway.

EMS-Thanks I'm a little nervous as I thought it was going to take 15 mins now I found out its a little over an hour.

SANDRA-I have no idea who were voting for in our town the local papers didn't have any candidates listed. But I know that they are voting on the wind turbans and my answer is NO as too many people here are getting migraines with the ones that are on the land.

Have to go,and get started

Have a great day.

Hi there. I had a great day at high school today. I'm working my program much better today after my OA meeting last night. Life is good.

Ems, you have done so well getting to goal. You know what to do to stay there. Be careful not to wind up like I did. I have regained over 30 pounds since I got to goal a few years ago.

Whew, I survived yesterday. I enjoy being a poll judge, but it can get quite tedious, especially when there is a low turnout. I'm very impressed with our system though. There are so many safeguards against tampering with the votes.

Mark's Daily Apple approach to nutrition isn't totally for me either. I don't think we know nearly as much about early humans' diet as some people claim. It is true that if early humans made it past being eaten by some other creature or childhood diseases, they lived a long time. The rest of it, I'm not so sure about--especially any claim to alter DNA.

But, I'm going to try to go grain and legume free for a while. Some joints in my hands are becoming painful, and people who eat gluten free say it helps.
However, Thanksgiving day will be a big exception!

I hope everyone is going to have a good day.

Good Morning Chicks! I'm just flying through on a busy day. I spent HOURS yesterday wading through 3 of my Great Nieces and Nephew's Christmas Wish Lists to find exactly the right and bestest thing for me and Uncle Jim to buy for them that was within our budget. It's hard to spend a reasonable amount of money these days and get a nice gift.

We also hit the mall to get Jim some dress pants. He does not enjoy clothes shopping and I buy most of his stuff for him online. We went out to eat afterwards and I was starving and succumbed to banana walnut pancakes. Sigh. Licked my plate. I'm back on program today and not even a trifle ashamed. They were delicious and worth every point. I didn't eat dinner. That's all I can say for myself.

Rhonda, I'm glad you survived.

Sandra,....high school? How impressive. I'd find that age children intimidating at this point.

Gotta run. I'm having a manicure today as a special splurge for tomorrow night. Talk to you later.

Good Morning Chicks! I find it hard to believe that I'm first and last and 24 hours with no one in between. Hope you are all well.

Today is my 20th Wedding Anniversary and we have a special day planned. Must get out of the way of the cleaning lady soon and hem the pair of pants that I plan to wear tonight. Nothing like waiting until the last minute!

Good Morning Ladies:)

I'm fine,I went to the breathing test and I also went to the nose ears and throat doctor yesterday. The latter I got a prescription for a nasal spray and it worked the first time, compare to the ones over the counter. The breathing test consist of 4 test that was weird to me.The first thing they wanted me to do was to breath into a tube, and than the 3 other test were in a booth. I had to put a mouth piece in my mouth and breath as hard as I could and than blow out hard to empty my lungs and than breath normally. The other two test were the same but the booth was closed and I heard the instructions over a loud speaker. The results we be in on Monday.

RHONDA-Oh that true of the people living on earth many many century's ago. My joints are hurting but I think is arthritis. I think I'm going to cut my bread / starch carbs next week when I finish my planner this week. [old WW habit]. I noticed I'm eating way too many of the starch carbs being that the temps & seasons are changing.[comfort foods] and so near Thanksgiving..I guess along with cutting my carbs I will have to cut my calories down also.1400 down to 1200.

VICKIE-Congrats on your 20th anniversary. I not even thinking about Christmas gift list yet, I just want to get though Thanksgiving in NY at my DD's as I can't sleep on the floor blow up mattress that I usually sleep on,especially with my breathing & hip problems.

Have a great day

Happy Anniversary, Vickie!

Maryann, I'm glad your tests are over and you're getting good results with the nasal spray.

I decided not to do the long term subbing afterall but will be doing day on and off subbing at both area high schools. I'm retired. I don't want to do lesson plans and grade essays. I told them I would take less "lighter" assignments. The ailing teacher may not be coming back. And like I said, "I'm retired."

Did I tell ya'll my permanent bridge broke in two last Friday afternoon. I had an emergency dental appt Saturday. Cost for my new bridge will be around $5000. :yikes:

On a good note--I'm not able to eat much. Life goes on.

Sorry I have been missing...
Congrats Vickie
Maryann. I am glad the spray worked better, let us know when you hear Monday.

I have been going to town on these house projects, bathroom tiling, junk sorting, gravel being delivered, painting, keeping pool clean, fireplace log shopping and so on.

I can see a light at the end of the tunnel with getting it ready to go on the market . Hoping the kids will help when they are home for the holidays.

My step daughter is coming in from Ca this Saturday for 2 weeks . She has a few side trips to make to see friends while she is here but I am looking forward to spending time.

I got a Hoover bagless vacuum from Walmart ($130) that I love. I almost got a dyson but the reveiws on this one were so good I decided to try it.
The amount of dirt & hair that it picks up from my carpets that had just been vacuumed with my old vac is amazing...Love it.

I started the Medi-weight loss program today..(actually starting in the morning) It is strict but I am excited that I could be at goal in a few months and ready to clothes shop by after Christmas. Tonight I am deciding what I want for my last meal ...Had Chicken at 3 so I may not even be hungry.
Wish me luck..

A guy just came to give me an estimate for tiling the bathroom . This guy is highly recommended and I really liked him. I hope the estimate he sends in a few days is reasonable. It would be great to have him do it...

Its called medi weightloss clinic. I found a groupon offer onlne a few weeks ago that was such a deal & after I read about it I decided to give it a try. I realized today I have gained about 10 lbs every decade since my 20's.

Looks like its going to rain this morning, going to stay in doors today except for a luncheon engagement I have with Alice. She called me up the other day to meet somewhere and talk. I agreed to meet ,but I'm not going to hang out with her like I used to.

Thanks Ladies I will let you know about the results to my breathing test.

Its running late have to get dressed

Nancy, I've gained about 15 pounds, on average, each decade, but, of course, most of it was in the last two menopausal and post decades.

However, this week I've lost a few. My diet? Chicken, chicken, chicken-with eggs, fruit, veggies and protein drinks thrown in.

Good Morning Ladies:)

Looks like we have another beautiful but windy day on the Cape. Had a good time with Alice, but she's changed and I don't think I will be good pals with her anymore. Its funny to think you know a person ,and than you really don't know them at all. Well is going to be a different kind of weekend for me as my movie buddy is going down to Fla for the week but I'll keep busy, still have storage boxes down stairs that have to be put back in order after the mess I made looking for my winter jacket.

MAINTAINED AT MY W-I FOR THE SECOND WEEK. HOPING THAT MAYBE NEXT WEEK I'LL BREAK THOUGH THE 150'S

VICKIE-Thanks,Hope you had a great anniversary hope that I will be better in my breathing and my hip as I can go down to my DD's for :turkey: day. Going to see the schedules on the internet to get a bus & train not so close scheduled as I did before I like to have a hour so, in-between so I can walk slowly not to lose my breath while pulling my suitcases from station to terminal. After that I will book my bus & train tickets.

NANCY-Good :goodluck: luck on your new diet. Next week I'm going to cut my bread & starch products, it break out of the 160's. Hopefully my report will be good but I will take it easy not to over do my shortness of breath. It happened[shortness of breath] last night when I walked to the next building for a trustee meeting.

RHONDA-Don't you get bored of chicken, even if there are 101 ways to cook chicken. I have to have variety, like 1/4 lb chicken:chicken: ,fish and very lean pork or beef :moo: . With 1/2 plate of veggies, and 1/4 starchy carbs, but the latter is very hard to control as its a comfort food and I always have to much of it .

Have a great day

I have a killer headache & wondering if its from the diet..

I had a nice lunch with a speech therapist from our church and she is going to let me spend the day with her Wednesday at the school she works at. That is an amazing opportunity to see what her day is like ..My step daughter will be in WV for a few days so I won't miss anytime with her.

I am not having trouble with being hungry but have had 2 lunches out with friends and wasn't sure what to order. I just did the best I could. Today I had a slice of asparagus quiche. Last night my heart was racing so I quit taking the
Fat Burner Pills until I ask about them. They are supposed to be all natural & no caffiene..

Tejas
11-12-2011, 09:06 PM
Nancy, "natural" does not mean safe. I don't think any supplements that say they will burn fat can do so without affecting heart rate, respiration and blood pressure. Please take care. Remember that none of these items are examined by the FDA.

Hi Ladies:)

Its going to be a quite afternoon for me as my movie buddy is down in Fla for the week. Plus there nothing new shows in the theater we go to,My other friend Pat asked if I wanted to join her and her friend Mary to see the Patriots, but since I'm not a football fan I reclined the offer.

RHONDA=Thats what I thought.

NANCY-The headaches might be caused by detoxing like happens in the SBD on Phase 1. I know they had a explanation on the site why it does happen, but they say it only last for a couple of days. I'll look and see if I can find it for you.

Have a great Sunday

Feeling really yucky...The headache was so bad last night & this morning that I took some prescrition pain pills & that made me nauseated..

The headaches have to be either the low carb & detox thing that Maryann mentioned, or caffiene changes, or the B shots they gave me. I haven't cut out my coffee in the morning so caffiene has only changed a little. I am suppose to get more shots Tuesday so I need to do some reading to see if they could be the problem. I am not taking the Fat Burner pills because of my heart racing
the other night.

My step daughter flies in at 2:30 today.

Maryann...have you seen Courageous ?? I want to see that.

Vickie
11-13-2011, 02:42 PM
Nancy.....I would stop all of it!!!!!! Low carb eating never did that to me. And, I've had withdrawals, but never with a headache like that. Seriously, if you eat right and exercise you can lose the weight without that scary stuff. JMHO.

11-13-2011, 05:06 PM
NANCY- I found this on the South Beach Diet Thread on the 3 fat chicks about detoxing

My 2 cents

Since you have been following a diet for the past couple months, your system probably doesn't require the same amount of detoxing as it did last time. Also note that you may not lose as much this time for the same reason.

Dr A says the main goal of Phase 1 is to get rid of cravings - once that is accomplished you can go on to Phase 2 - so if your cravings are gone after one week (since you had previously been eating well) then you can jump right into Phase 2. Hope this helps.

As far as the movie I saw Courageous and really like it,as it was so true how you can catch a virus if your not careful. To me it was more of a health documentary that was put into a movie.

I recommend to everyone.

Thanks guys..
I am only taking the multi vitamins, calcium & omega 3 now. All stuff I have taken before and I added in a few more carbs .. Not sure if I will do the B shot I am supposed to get Monday..I feel good tonight..

Funny timing to start because I have had 3 meals out in 3 days..Today I chose shrimp tacos & only ate the filling which was tasty & enough.
