Hi Kim,

Most of us don't fall into one specific category. I just refer to myself as a compulsive overeater with all the lovely side effects of it and I too b/p. It's very nice to meet you and stay here and read a bit.

It's great that you are seeing a dr. That's definitely a good start. I know that there are b/p out there that eat normal portions but purge anyways because they view it as a binge. I've done it occassionaly where one extra slice of pizza (that's not hurting anything) triggers something in my head that I ate too much and have to get rid of it. So yes, a binge can be any amount of food depending on how you see it. He/she may have been trying to say that not everything you eat is a binge. Just a thought for ya.

Somethings that are helping with me is distracting myself at night. When I'm tired and alone the compulsion hits. It's hard I know it. It eats out your brain sometimes but it may be a start for you. Read books at night on the subject and journal and take notes. Take the disease outside yourself, start to see it ojectively and not as soley an emotion.

Think positive. Be forgiving of yourself and commit to eating through out the day. If you are not eating during the day you are setting yourself up for a binge at night. The mechanics of metabolism say the less you eat, the more it slows and the less you lose. Ask for a solid nutritional program to go with your sessions.

Anyways, just some thoughts from someone going through the same battle. Good luck, keep fighting.

Hi Kim... I don't know if you have ever checked back here but I want do say G'Day in case you do. I've been to Australia and it is so amazing. I loved every moment of our visit. I'll keep this short but if you do check back in give us an update on how you are doing. Bye for now... Lori
