Unhappy Discouraged.

My first 10 days on IP I lost 11 pounds. Starting day 11, I haven't lost anything at all. For the last 5 days I've had a cold, which I'm still dealing with the last remnants.

Nothing.

No inches, no weight, in 11 days. In fact this morning the scale was up a pound.

I am 100% on program. While I've been sick the last few days, I've only been able to eat puddings which I made into warm drinks by adding 2 cups of water. I've eaten spinach as veggies by steaming it into manageable clumps (no appetite) and had 5oz tuna for dinner.

Drinking 120 oz water and lots of plain green tea.

What in the heck is going on?

My coach is on a cruise and won't be back til 11/9.

You lost a lot of weight really fast, and I know it's not unusual to loose nothing or very little around the 2nd or 3rd week. Keep staying on plan and the weight will start moving down again. You might try upping your protein a little too to see if that gets things moving a bit. Have a least 8oz of say tuna instead of just 5oz.

Hang in there. As my coach says, "It's almost impossible not to loose on this plan."

I agree. You have had a great loss and it can slow down. I thinking increasing the protein will help. You will lose on this program. That is a good idea drinking puddings when you are sick!
Good luck..You are doing a great job on IP.

When I have a good loss one week I know the next week it won't be so great or none at all. I seem to lose in clumps and then nothing. Everyone is different...Don't be discouraged!

Oh my gosh. More than a pound a day. That is terrific. You are putting a lot of emphasis on what the scale is weighing and nothing else. Your body is under a lot of stress with the cold. Stress can cause you to "hold" onto the weight. (My doctor has drilled this into me) My suggestion - take a break from the scale, take care of yourself, in a couple of days you'll see the drop in the weight.

Maybe some herbal teas, vitamin C would help the cold pass more quickly. Is the season. I just got over a bout of bronchitis myself. It's miserable being sick. We're all closed in together, no fresh air. It's a breeding ground for all those little buggies.

I am having the same problem right now...the scale is moving but very slowly. I have been sick for the last couple weeks... Have you ever tried oil of oregano pills, they are a natural anti-viral and u can get them at most health food stores...

Have faith in the program, some people have a few lower weeks and have beautiful losses later on. Check out people's stats...that would always give me hope when I had a lower WI. Just keep your eye on the prize.

Also, stop weighing yourself everyday, I put my scale away 5 months ago to stop the vicious cycle, sometimes stressing about it helps you KEEP the weight. Right now I'm going two weeks without weighing myself. It can have moments of 'being hard' but the whole two weeks isn't hard. And it's definately easier then the stressing out over "why not more!".

Good Luck!

You body is readjusting after a huge very rapid loss. Did you really think your body could handle losing weight that rapidly for more than a very brief time? It has to slow down to a more reasonable rate.

What are you taking for your cold medicine? Many cold meds have various forms of sugar, that could be causing an issue. I wouldn't worry about it right now, colds mess your body up. You say 120oz of water/day how much were you drinking the first part?

I take no meds ... I didn't even use my fave cough drops cuz they're made from honey. I've wanted honey so bad, but I haven't touched a drop. I haven't even used my Emergen-C's cuz they have sugar.

I've done raw garlic and it has killed my stomach.

I got some sugar-free cough drops and within 30 mins my arms broke out in hives ... so in the garbage they went.

I've just been drinking the pudding as a hot drink and FF chicken broth.

I started w/ 120 oz water and have done that every day.

When I started, I lost 16 pounds the first week. I stayed the same the second week and gained 1 pound the third. I had followed the program to a tee. The fourth week I lost 8 pounds. That is how it was for me until I lost 120 pounds. It is hard not to get discouraged, but remember that the weight has to go somewhere. Relax and just follow the program. Do not let the scale be your "Higher Power". It works so differently for different people. I had been off of the plan for 8 months or so and had gained some of my weight back. I went back on plan and for the first two weeks didn't lose anything. The third week I lost 11 pounds. Who can figure. Keep smiling because you don't have to do this alone. You have a support group.

Well doesn't sound like you've slipped out of ketosis. As my coach reminds me that first week we all lose a lot of weight since we're burning off the Glycogen stored in our bodies. First week lost 10.2lbs, since thing average is about 4, but lately it's closer to 2.5. Rather be losing 4 but I'm not complaining about the slower steady weight loss. I've also dropped a full 10 pant sizes, so there is more to the weight loss then just the weight. Stay positive OP.

I know all of us are weighing in weekly, but I think as Ishbel said, if you look at people's weigh ins, there are weeks where people stay the same or even gain a pound, then the next week they are down a few pounds again.
If we all had the patience to weigh in monthly instead of weekly we would always be happy with our losses I think!LOL

Don't be discouraged. I went through a several month period where I would lose weight for two weeks then have a week with no loss, then two weeks with a loss and a week with no loss - it was a pattern that developed and I've pretty much stayed in that pattern. If you follow the protocol, you will lose weight, it is pretty much impossible to not lose weight on the number of calories we are eating. The important part for me is to make sure I eat enough - especially protein, and drink the water. A protein shake before bedtime seems to be a key for me as well.

Stay Strong!

Till you pee it out you know this weighs something, right?

Remember the scale just shows weight. It does not show FROM WHAT.

Hang in there!
