Is it Spring yet? I am freezing. Vegas is cold too, but here it is in the teens at night and early morning. It has barely hit 40 mid day. BRRR. I wish we could get some moisture so we could have snow, it has only snowed 1 time since coming up north. reno is only an hour away but they get so much more moisture than us.
I want to start walking again, but it needs to get warmer. I need to put my gym back together but not until the boxes are put away and it is too cold in the garage right now. CATCH 22. I think I am making good progress though. I only have knick knacks and art work left to display. Then it is organize the stuff I don't want out right now. camping stuff, boys outgrown clothes, misc hardware, tools. craft stuff. I can't wait to start gardening. I have some kind of flowers in the back yard wanting to bloom. The trees have buds on them and I got stung by a hornet last week. It has been 28 years since I was stung, I was 5 and living in Cleveland. It hurts just as bad as I remember!!!
Is everyone else getting cabin fever too? Just think, in few weeks when the sun returns to us, we will all be outside and we will definately see the scale move down! flower

A few weeks!!!! We will be still in winter until at least the end of March! I usually try to be super busy in February because it seems the longest month. Buds don't appear here until the end of April!
It has been too cold and miserable to walk the dogs even to the Post Office. I want slightly warmer weather. 0F as the "high" for the day just doesn't cut it!
My paperwhite narcissi are in bloom - a wee bit of Spring in the kitchen. I may trudge through the snow today and cut some forsythia branches to force. Anything to get through the rest of the winter!
Try not to weather whine, Ruthie - it's a sign of old age!

I looked out at the thermometer, it was 4 when the sun came up at 7!!! FOUR is not a tempature!!!
I started the eatting plan @ mayoclinic.com today. This hopefully will keep me on track when I remember what a real serving size is ect.
I don't know what branches can be forced to bloom around here. I bought some cute garden things thru a catalog a few weeks ago. They will be here soon. I can't wait to play in the garden! I WILL REMEMBER NOT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT SORE LEGS AND BACK...I WANTED SPRING TO COME!

I got a wildflower seed book. They are just so pretty, but I am going to say no. Just say No Audri. I want to get the old fashioned orange roses that still smell, and I love these climbing trumpet flowers that open and close ea day. I have no idea what they are called. I want some lilys and some hanging baskets. I have lots of containers to plant in this yard. I am definately gonna have lots to do after the last frost.
I feel better after just 3 days of eatting healthy. I might have eatten a few too many veggies that first day, but I cleaned my system out! :) The high pressure system is finally staring to move, so we may get back to normal winter temps. That I can handle. I am going to Reno this afternoon. I will be good going out to eat. No reason eatting so much fat just because I didn't cook it. I borrowed my stepmoms mini van for the trip. Now we don't have to be so squished. I feel so old driving it though. I am going to be 34 next month, but I feel like I just got out of high school. I wonder if anyone ever feels their age. ~flower

I will be glad when it starts warming up here too, but I can't complain like some places..... our lowest so far this year has been like 18 which is pushing it. Usually runs like lows in the 30's highs in the low 60's from November until March. My grass is turning back green and some of the trees are blooming. I saw some daffodils peeking the other day. My dogs have destroyed all my flowers in the back yard except for my roses and that is just because they can not get to them. None of my flowers I planted last year look like they are going to come back except for maybe my Heather which I have had since we purchased our house.
I love the gray of winter it doesn't "depress" me like some people, it is my favorite time of the year honestly but it does get old not being able to piddle around the yard or in the pond. My fish are probably ready to get fed too, could you imagine not eating from the time the water hit 55 until it warms back up into the 70's? Would be great for a diet huh? :)
Hope all is well everywhere with everyone.

Hi chickies... I'm back from Thailand! What a life-changing adventure I have had! This has been the most rewarding two weeks of my life. I now have the cure for depression and anxiety and hopelessness and unfullfillment and weight/body issues... spend two weeks in a developing country working in an orphanage! What a blessing this trip has been... life will never be the same for me. I am still trying to recuperate from jet lag after spending 27 hours traveling home. Maybe by tomorrow I will be back to my senses but I am still struggling in Thai time. More later when I am up to sharing!

Hi everyone,
I've been lurking on an off for the past couple of weeks but figured I'd better chime in or you'd figure I'd deserted! Just been super busy at work -- hating it -- and sending out resumes looking for something better. Sometimes I wonder if I'll EVER find a good job again.
Sojo: Thailand??? Wow, I must have missed that. What an unbelievable experience that must have been.
After reading everyone's posts, I realize just how nice our winter has been. It's barely gotten below freezing, and we've had no snow at all. It' been in the 50's and sunny all week long, as it was a couple of weeks ago. Last week though, we had a ton of rain. Go figure! The crocus and daffodils are blooming and I have a SERIOUS case of spring fever! Anyone else just dying to wear open toe shoes???
I must go get caught up on everyone's posts. Have a great week

I was wondering if the Welcome Mat is still outside of the door?
I need to apologise to everyone for just disappearing. I've been down in the dumps for the past few weeks and didn't know what to do about it. About this weight thingy. I'm stuck at 135 and I know why. I've been putting everything and anything into my mouth and can't stop myself! I'm going to sew my mouth shut and get a feeding tube! I've been exercising 4-5 days a week at the gym so that hasn't been the problem. But I haven't been drinking nearly the water that I'm supposed to be drinking.
Monday the turn around started after I watched the Oprah show. Here these people lost tremendous amounts of weight, so surely I can lose these mesely 10 lbs!
Tuesday at the gym I grabbed a magazine to read while I rode the exercise bike. The magazine that I picked up was called Oxygen(which doesn't have anything to do with Oprah's Oxygen t.v. channel) It's a fitness book for women. They have articles in there about everyday women who have changed their lives and lifestyles by eating and exercising and weight training. Now I know I could never be a woman body builder unless I get some plastic sugery done, but I'd like to give it a shot to see how far I can come close to being one. I'm not sure if I can go through with it even because of the discipline involved and the devotion, but I'm willing to give it a shot. I'll never know if I can do it if I don't try.
So now I'm searching for all the information on weight training and their diets. I know it's high protein and low carb, but I need to get more specific about it.
I think I may check into the Body For Life program and see what that's all about.
Thank you everyone for letting me back into the group again!
And on that note....What's everyone having for dinner tonight?
I'm having Shake-N-Bake Chicken, baked potato and steamed mixed veggies.
Well I'm off to scrub the tators.
I'll check back in here later.

>>>Come here so I can slap you! Just kidding, I really would not do that, but NO SNOW????? Come on! We are buried in yet another storm last night.
We hardly ever get snow here in the Portland area, but get lots in the surrounding mountain ranges. Snows here MAYBE once a year, and it always disappears quickly. If it gets below 30 everyone starts talking about how "frigid" it is, LOL. I really appreciate the lack of snow now that I'm older, but when I was a
kid, I HATED IT!!! I wanted nothing more than for it to snow
days on end so I could skip school and go out and make snowmen. How times changes! LOL!

I've been struggling for most of the night. I did have my snack at 8 of popcorn, but I've been wanting something else. I'm craving chocolate, and thank God I don't have any in the house. Not sure why I'm craving that except that T.O.M. is soon to arrive. I haven't caved in. I did go and look in the cupboards, but then I said to myself, you don't need anything. Think of your long term goals, this will only put you behind if you give in.
So here I am, popping mints. I have mints around so that when an urge comes over me to eat something, I pop a mint in my mouth. Does the trick. Dh jokes to me about always having a mint in my mouth! Whatever works right? LOL
Ellis--I hope you get to feeling better soon. And I know about how cold the weather is. This afternoon is was -21 with the wind chill! I can't wait for spring!!!!!!!!
Lidian--I know it probably won't come off in a month, but I don't want it to take a year either! LOL I'm hoping by summer so I can by a new bikini! That's a goal anyways! LOL
Well, I'm off of here. Dh should be home soon from work.

This is going to be my second night sleeping upright on a living room chair. I got a couple of hours sleep in bed, but woke up with a ragingly painful throat again. I'm sipping honey and lemon right now. I just can't go to the doctor's. I'll have a nervous breakdown.
Okay, this is pretty personal, but why the **** would someone (that would be DH) want to have sex with me when I'm sick like this!? I suppose I should be flattered, but STAY THE HECK AWAY FROM ME!!!

LOL Ellis, I know what you mean! I just chalk it up to men are perverts and pigs! LOL They can have sex whenever and however if you know what I mean! My dh would want to have sex with me even if I was on my death bed! And I do tell him he's a pig and a pervert! LOL It's no fun having a coughing fit right in the middle of sex! You cough and gag, and you can't breathe or catch your breath. It breaks the mood and then dh is mad because he thinks you did it on purpose! LOL MEN!
I read a bit of the Body For Life stuff on the website. He didn't really tell me a whole lot, except how to lift weights. Then I checked out the Muscle and Fitness for Her, and found out that a 120 lb women should be eating 100 g of protein. Guess that beings I weigh 135 I should be eating more. I also read that I should be taking some kind of supplements. Even if it's Creatine. They also suggest working out before you eat(just have a snack before you go) or 2 hours after you've eaten to burn more fat.
So I had a low fat ceral bar and then I'm heading for the gym at 8 so I can be back between 9-9:30. I have to work a split **** today. I go in at 11 till LVD(Lunch Volume Drop) Then I'm back in for 5 till close probably. We are totally booked for Valentine's Day. I hope it's a good tip night cause I'm broke! LOL
I have to stop and get dh a gift certificate for a massage. He keeps saying to me that he needs one so I thought I'd get him a gift certificate for one. And not from the 'Rub-N-Tug' either! LOL Though I'm sure he'd enjoy that even better! LOL
Well I'm off to check out some other threads before I have to leave.
I'll check back in later.

This is the nurse in me but creatine has been shown to be bad for your kidneys, it is hard for your body to filter out and makes your kidneys work harder than they should have to. I am not telling you what you should or shouldn't take but it is one of those things that should be taken into consideration prior to its use. Just a thought...

Sorry if I have been MIA. Griffin has Pneumonia. We stayed in the hospital Thursday night. I don't think he has insurance. We were in the middle of getting him off welfare so I could get him on the state's plan like my other boys have. But I couldn't wait any longer and took him to the er. His oxygen level was a 82. Not good. He had no cough, so the diagnoisis was mind blowing. I didn't like his breathing and he was saying his tummy hurt. So off we went.
So, I haven't been over eatting but I have eatting more simple carbs than I should. My oldest son has a birthday today. 13. He is having some friends over tomorrow for video games and cake. He promised to stay quiet. Ha. I think Grif will stay upstairs. It is only for 2 1/2 hours. We can handle that.

Hey, guys!!!!
How was everyones Valentines? I got a movie with DH and the guy from the "Ethics Question" (together we all went and saw DareDevil) DH reaped the benefits :) ... He brought me home a dozen red roses (which is a mind blower since we don't usually exchange gifts) So it was a pretty nice day.
I have had a few crumby food days, I would swear it was TOM but it isn't so I really don't know what the excuse is except I could not control my cravings. Didn't go overboard but the valetines candy that was purchased for my kids is going to have to go!
Flower- sorry to hear about Grif... Hope he feels better soon :( Sat's in the 80's means he definitely wasn't ventilating well... My DD's birthday is today too... she is 10, lord it makes feel SO OLD... DS turned 12, 3 weeks ago. MIL bought DD a hippy outfit out of one of these teen magazines she looks like Elvira on LSD.... It is really wacky, I don't think I can bring myself to go out in public with her.
I have been to the Body for Life's website and read up on it, it really seems to work but until I have some extra time to put into exercise it doesn't seem to such a good idea. It isn't that I am not willing to exercise it just doesn't fit into my schedule. I am doing E-diets again, I lost almost 50 pounds the first time on it.. I hope to get this extra 20 I have put back on, off before summer or graduation should I say. Isn't going to happen unless I buckle down though.
Well I hope everyone has a good weekend I am off from the hospital this weekend so I have to catch up with my cleaning and laundry (argh) .....
My mother and father were suppose to visit today but my DS came home yesterday with vomiting and fever and my dad is on Chemo and his white counts are down so I guess I have a repreive from their visit. The kids will just have to wait for their birthday presents until the house is germ free.
Hugs,

Flower- whew! What a scare for you- glad that Grif is going to be okay!
I had the worst day at work today. As usual a very important document was left to the last minute by my boss who suddenly needs it for tomorrow or else.... It was over 1100 pages and 4 volumes!
:stress: I ended up staying at work until 7:30 pm (which I don't get paid for) to finish it while his nibs floated out the door at 4:45 with a big cheery "goodnight" I wonder if he felt that knife in his back that I was mentally throwing at him  I don't mind working late but but not as a result of someone else's procrastination!
I was almost done when I discovered that some of the pages had been messed up and had to undo half of the binding! Then my DH called to tell me that he was in a car accident (unhurt-just a fender bender but it will cost $1500 to fix our van) and then I cut my hand on the binding machine and nearly bled on the documents...Yarg!
I finally got home at 8 pm and just threw my coat and boots off and went and lay on my bed and cried for 15 minutes! I am just so fed up with my job! I swear if I had money in the bank I would have quit tonight and told my boss that he could take his last minute work and get stuffed if you get my drift :s:
Well that's my vent for the week :soap: -hopefully the rest of my week will be better (is it Friday yet :dizzy: )

Well, I called Welfare today. Grif may have medical coverage for Feb after all. I was in the process of trying to get off and put him on a state plan when he got sick. But the state issued him benifits for the month, so I may not go into debt after all!!!! The universe looks after me sometimes after all! I am very grateful.
Grif is still clingy. He is rowdy, but that could be because he is on steriods, not cause he feels better. He is eatting more. He ate a man's size bowl of cereal this morning and an english muffin that was suppose to be mine. We go to a doc tomorrow. My dad met him at the hospital and said he was great. He was voted doc of the year in NV. I went home for 20 minutes and missed him. Figures. We couldn't find a doc before. There is a shortage of them here, but now we have one.
Yesterday I returned to Carson City. I had gone on Wednesday to buy a computer desk. We ended up getting 2. One for 99.99 and another for 39.99. Well, on Monday, they went on sale. 49.99 and 29.99. I called and they said if I brought in the recisept they would give me the difference back. I sure will drive an hour for 60 plus tax! I wanted to go to Home depot for a mailbox and utility rugs and to Target so Cameron could spend his birthday money. (my oldest turned 13 on Saturday). So the drive was sucessful and I am happy. I love my cedar mailbox. It is so darn cute.
I hope everyone is feeling better this week. I think I may go for a walk this afternoon. I could use the fresh air! We never get any wet stuff. But I live in the wild wild west, so what do I expect? The other day a tumbleweed was coming down the street that was bigger than my car. I expected John Wayne to gallop on by any second! ~flower

Mauvais-i am sorry you had such a bad day yesterday. Your boss sounds like a real CREEP. Have you had any feedback on your interview? I want you OUT of there!!! Glad to hear that your DH is okay after his accident.
Flower-Glad a few things are working out for you financially!! I hope Grif gets better VERY quickly.
Ellis-Not much energy yet. As a matter of fact I seem to be sleeping a lot still.
At least I'm not dizzy anymore!!!!
OI812-Keep us posted about how Body for Life is working for you, I've been curious about that program. (YOU TOO VIRGINIA!!!)

Mav, good luck on the job front! I just started a new job about 2 weeks ago - it's only contract, but there's a slim chance it might go perm, either in the position I'm in now, or working with a different department. This job is a real positive influence, the guys here appreciate what I can do and really respect my skills. The previous 2-3 years have been in job ****, working for companies and people who were unappreciative, threatened by my skills and personality, low paying, etc, etc. I think getting this job has been one of the BIG factors in my feeling good enough to start working on my weight and health again.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, even though it's a little hard to type that way... ;)

Howdy. Doc said Grif is doing much beter. He is not accepting new patients, but I have an emergency doc until I find someone. We have a doc shortage in this state. Malpractice insurance is skyhigh here.
My step mom. You know the one that fed me way too well while I was living with her...well, she was diagnoised with Diabetes yesterday. Doesn't surprise me, yet not fun at all. I was at a loss to what to get her for her birthday next week. Well, now I will get her some diabetic cookbooks. Any suggestions on what is good?
Well, off to unpack some more boxes from the garage. Neverending!!!!

'ello lovlies...
Been awhile - again - since I've stopped by. Just feeling kinda bummed. Today's "my guy"'s last day... We've done all the exchanging of info, but still... no more "did you check your mail?" phone calls after today. *sigh*
S'alright though - I did ask the powers that be for some resolution to this and I guess this is it all playing out. Maybe he'll miss me and still call constantly! Oh, and I'm writing his letter of recommendation from our company - hard to do when you don't want him to leave his job!
Flower, I'm glad Grif is doing better. It's scary when kids get sick. Sorry to hear about your stepmom's diagnosis - very sweet of you to look for some cookbooks for her - I hope she takes good care of herself.
Dent - I'm so happy your Mom is back out n' about! The post-accident part can be really hard to get past.
Hi Sassypants and RavenToy! I don't think I've seen you before!
Mauvais - Wow, you've got more strength than I do... I'm afraid I would've gotten fired after I told my boss to get his a$$ back in here and help me with what HE procrastinated on! (Good thing I work for family I guess). I hope you find something SOON!
 everyone! I'll be back again soon!

Hey Dentrassi :) Neat name, btw. I started out with my first one - It's a large cat with wings - about 7 years ago. I don't have as many as I'd like, that's for sure! I think I only have about 7 or 8 of them now. I just love the philosophy behind them, and figured I needed all the help I could get scaring evil thingies away from my life! *lol*

Well, today is mine and chris's 6 year anniversay. We have lasted longer than most of my friends stayed married! One of these days we will get married. But I loose 650 a month in SS when I do say I do, so until we are secure in $, it isn't happening. Although he has insurance for all us. Very tempting. Aren't I romantic? Romance only lasts so long, practicallity lasts forever! :) Just joshing you. I love him. Have to or I wouldn't deal with him any longer than 5 minutes!
I raked for an hour and a 1/2 yesterday. What a sweaty mess I was. I took a bath to hold off the aches and pains. I think it may have worked. I am not dying today. I filled 5 large bags with wet leaves. It has been 10 years since I have had a large tree that sheds. I will have another 5 to fill till the yard is ready for spring planting. It felt so good to be in the sunshine yesterday. I felt alive and no sneezing. I don't seem to have allergies here. KNOCK ON WOOD!
Well, I am counting calories today so I can have take out Chinese to celebrate tonight. Couldn't get a sitter so we will celebrate together. :) Have a wonderful Saturday everyone!

Den - did you survive 5 teen boys???
Terri - Maybe your guy will get a job somewhere closer or with another company you deal with? At least something very good came from the whole thing. :)

Squeak-BARELY!!! A couple of the boys started getting into it with each other, and my son got mad and upset, so I was glad when it ended!!! At least it wasn't a sleepover!!!
Raventoy-I like 'em too!!! I like the nasty ones. The one we have is called "feast on fools" and I always imagine he is picking little bits of some jerk he has just eaten from between his teeth!!!

Well, I knew I liked you gals for a reason. We have gargoyles too. Giffin's name is an indication. (his middle name is Osbourne...you get a mental picture of his daddy's tastes) Thanks for the anniversary wishes. We were so silly last night. We had our Chinese. Then we went upstairs and played casino games on the computer. We pretended we were on date night playing nickles at a Station Casino. We called downstairs for cocktails and up came a round of sodas. Chris was so tired from work that he was asleep by 8. But it was a good night. We went to Reno today and then it was movie night. Back to the normal routine tomorrow. I am going to try real hard to get back into walking every day. It is suppose to snow, but hey, I don't melt or freeze.
