Default Scale Woes

So I am doing WW at home, so I'm using my own scale for my weigh ins. I recently realized that my scale was pretty out of whack. I could step on it twice in a row and get weights 15lbs apart!

I went and bought a better scale and my weight is actually about 5lbs higher than I thought. It was kind of upsetting because it feels like I gained this week big time, even though I know that isn't the case.

I'm trying to keep it in perspective that I likely lost the same amount of weight becuase my start weight was also likely higher than I thought, but it was kind of a downer.

I know its hard, I am a closet daily weigher, but don't let the scale ruin your mood. Start fresh with the new scale and stay focused and you will see results!

On the weight loss plan I just came from - their scale at weigh ins was always 4 lbs. lower than mine. At the Doctor's office, their scale is a couple lbs. lower than mine. Now that I'm weighing in at WW, their scale is about 1 lb. higher than mine. Just saying - all scales are different - who's to know which is really correct?

Try not to let it discourage you and start this week fresh with the new weight (it'll be easier trying to keep track that way, then by trying to subract the 5 lbs. every time). ;o)

Hugs,
Lisa

I bought a new scale a week ago. Each time I step on it I get a different number. I'll step on it three times 45 seconds apart and get a number that is .2 - 1.8 lbs difference. It makes me wonder if the scale at WW is even accurate. The new scale says I weigh 2 more lbs than the scale at WW. I don't get it but I understand your frustration.

I knew my old one was broken when I would get 266 and 251 within a few minutes of each other.

I'm just going to keep trucking on. Though I must admit that this weekend has not been one I'm proud of.

I had that happen to me, too, only my new scale was 10(!) lbs higher. It was made enough thinking I was starting at 300, but to find out it was actually 311 (and that was after losing a few pounds on my own (that is, not on WW) was horrific.

I know how you feel *hugs* but try not to let it derail you

Thanks! My husband was saying "well at least now you know really where you are" but it felt, emotionally, like I'd undone my progress. But I need to put on my big girl panties and suck it up and move on from here.

I am trying to keep this in mind...I'm going to keep living and eating and so I can either eat and get heavier or eat and get lighter, so as long as I'm eating towards getting lighter, then I'm moving in the right direction and I shouldn't be obsessing about how quickly that's happening.

Yea, that's the best attitude. Just make a note in your weight tracker and keep going.

If it helps keep you encouraged, you could go back and adjust your previous weigh-ins by equal intervals so you can get an idea of where you're going.

With as bad as your scale was, though, that might be pointless...

Regardless, now you can be confident that when the scale says you're losing, then you must be losing! This is GOOD! You can have faith in technology again!
