Well, it is the 1st day of October, so I thought I would initiate it so we can all get started on our monthly goals!!!

It is also a very special day for me....2 years SMOKE FREE!!! :carrot:

I also turn the big "40" this month, and while I had planned to be at a certain weight by then, I will just keep plucking along, know that I will be almost 40 lbs down from last year!!!! :woo:

I am going to shoot for 7lbs this month....I am at 176 right now....

Make a goal! It really does seem to help...even if you don't make it. It is like positive accountability to eachother in this journey. :grouphug:

Hang in there, ladies...and good luck to all with our monthly goals!!!

Tami:goodluck:

Tami...
I have been smoke free for a long time, now, so salute you , as it is not easy

I agree, make a goal, try to make it with all you have, and most of the times we do.. I helps to have a motivation like that, it really does.

Have a great day.. Quiet weekend on the forum.

Well, I set a nice low goal for the month of October. I guess I've been having a pity party for myself today and am trying to figure out my next steps.

I woke up this morning and at 7:30 it said my weight was back up to 158! What the heck?! About an hour later, it was at 157.2! I ate out last night and when I went to get my F&C blockers from my purse, they weren't there. Not sure when I took them out. :( All I had was a grilled chicken salad, pretty basic, with just a bit of honey mustard which I am guessing is what did me in.

I was thinking about it and I guess I should be happy I've gotten as far as I did with minimal exercise. When I was walking 3-4 days a week strong in April, I easily lost 10 pounds in one month. I've gotten three walks in this week, so it's a start.

I'm guessing I'm stuck right now because of the lack of exercise. Maybe if I can kick that into gear, things will start moving faster on the scales again.

It's October! That means holidays will be here before we know it- and staying OP will get tough. I have just been prescribed a 12 day course of prednazone for bad shoulder and hip bursitis and I have heard it really screws up weight loss. I'm setting a 7 pound goal and crossing my fingers.

And Jen, it's easier to give advice than take it, but could I suggest you consider weighing less often, to avoid going out of your mind? We have all done this and seen the progress of a week seem to disappear with one milligram of sodium too much. The fact that you got on the scale again an hour later says you may be torturing yourself. Look how far you have come! I tend to get motivation from the scale and when it is not good news, I am more likely to feel unmotivated to continue and go off program. My center urges people not to weigh at home, but of course I do, and sometimes I get obsessed. If this feels at all like you, maybe shoving those scales under the bed wouldn't be a bad idea. Focus on what you can control- your behaviors- and the results WILL come in time.

Jen, my counselor goes nuts when i tell him how much i weigh myself!! he said he'd love to throw my scales away - LOL!!! i just know how fast i gain back when i've lost before so wanted to make that doesn't happen again.
i even took them on vacation w/ me haha!! walking more has really helped me... i do try to just weigh when i get up in the am :-) maybe i could try every 2 days? i really seriously doubt it but could try

Tami - I just want to say GREAT JOB! My husband has been smoke free for several years now and I saw the battle he went through and still fights sometimes when things get stressful.

Jen - I've been down on myself too. I have no one to blame but myself of course. I haven't strayed far off program, but a little here and a little there has added up on the scale. I haven't lost in a month now. It's lack of exercise too. I was all motivated in the beginning and was diligent about exercising. Now with fall set in and winter coming on, I think the bear in me is coming out to hibernate. Well - enough of that! I set a smaller goal for myself this month and by God I am going to make it (if He lets me).

Say what you will about the scale - I can't give it up. Although I do limit myself to once a day. First thing in the morning & if I miss it then I don't get to weigh that day.

I'm starting a new job tomorrow, so I used nervous as my excuse for eating out tonight. Didn't do to bad, but like I said - a little here, a little there. I've got to kick myself in the butt and get back on track starting NOW!

Let's go ladies...Oct can be another new beginning!

Hello,
I'm new here but I have been on the MRC diet for 6 weeks. I am going to set my goal as 7 lbs for this month. So far I have lost 9 lbs and want to keep the ball rolling. Good luck to everyone on their goals!!!!

I'm on preconditioning until Friday and then starting program on Friday. So I'm going to set a goal of eight pounds for October. Is that realistic?

camaswa - Normally, I just weigh myself once in the morning and that's it. I'm probably the opposite of most people in that if I don't, I tend to go off plan. Kinda like shoving my head in the sand. This is just my way of staying accountable to myself. Weighing myself twice on Saturday actually has a story behind it. When I was on bedrest in the hospital before my daughter was born, the nurses would wake me up at 4 AM every morning to do vitals and weight (and sometimes draw blood). As if being pregnant and huge wasn't bad enough, let's remind her how big she is at 4 AM! Anyway, I was on a pretty strick low-sodium diet because of my pre-eclampsia and overnight my weight went up a pound. I told the nurse to let me use the restroom and let's try it again. She said, "Do you really think you can pee away a pound?" Turns out, I did. So, Saturday morning, after moving around a bit and using the bathroom again, I wanted to see if that was still the case and it was. LOL

bigdog - I've thought about weighing myself every other day, but I don't know if I could do that.

coarkkayaker - I got in almost 3 miles of walking on Saturday, so I'm happy about that. I've been getting it in about every other day. Hopefully I can start getting more days in this week. :) Good luck on the new job! :goodluck:

jen916 -Welcome to the board! Hope to see you posting often and feel free to ask any questions. It's a great place and incredibly supportive!

joanie830 -I think 8 pounds is doable provided you follow the program as written and try to get some light exercise in several times a week :exercise: . Best of luck!

Hi! I'm new here but I just started the program Oct. 1st. My weight loss goal is 40lbs. so for October I'm hoping to lose 10 lbs. I used to work for MRC, so I have done the program before and lost 20 lbs. I just had my first baby, so after a few months I am ready to get back on program and get my baby weigth (plus more) off!! I hope since I'm starting on the yellow menu that will help kick start my weight loss and I will reach my October goal :)

**queesy stomach alert**
My only problem is I got really sick on day 2. This never happened to me the entire year I worked at MRC and drank and took the supplements. It's been over a year, though, that I have done program so I'm worried my body is not liking something... Maybe I just ate something bad, but I threw up everything I ate the past day after lunch and got queesy again after supper. So far this morning all is going well! Hope maybe it was a bug and I can continue to do the diet!

Jen...
I weigh in once a day only, same time each morning, 7 days a week. I weigh in before breakfast. If in stall try eating more eggs and fish.. That is what I was told and it works most of the time.

annaedwet, Jen 916 welcome... Best of luck on your challenge

joanie830 Welcome and I hope you meet your goal.. Remember, any loss is a good thing, and a goal is an incentive.

Everyone have a great day.

Weighed in at lunch and I maintained at 156. I just told my counselor that I feel bad because I don't want them thinking I leave and go load up on chocolate and ice cream and play dumb when I get to my next weigh in. He was so funny. Let's just definitely say they can see through the...ahem...crap and know who's cheating and who's not. He reassured me that it would be difficult to maintain and cheat at the same time. Not impossible, but difficult. However, and this is why food journals are a good thing, my diet needs some tweaking (after all this time, I guess I just wasn't thinking about some choices) and we'll see what happens. And, tonight is my walking night. :running: Hopefully, Wednesday will show a decrease if I do what he says.

annaedwet -I totally feel for you! I tried starting back up again last year after having my first baby (who turns two on 10/15). Unfortunately, I was going through some pretty bad Post Partem Depression and was on "happy pills." It just didn't work. I started again February 23 of this year and not only did I get ALL the pregnancy weight off, I'm now 14 pounds under that. Woohoo! You can do it too! How old is your little one? :)

Patzi - That's pretty much how I do it too. Weigh in when I wake up before putting anything in my system. I wish I could do the fish and eggs thing, but I'm not a fan of eggs and I have a fish phobia. I know...I'm a weirdo. LOL :crazy:

I started MRC back up today. My goal this month is to lose. Just lose. If I only lose 5 lbs that is fine, that means I am going in the right direction.

Jen, I wish I could pee away a pound! Ha!

There is such a fine line with this scale thing, isn't there? I get that head in the sand mentality totally! In fact I rationalized 20 pounds before I faced the scale to see it in black and white. Would have been much better to have acknowledged the truth at 5 or even 10 pounds. So I'm really not against weighing- just against beating ourselves up. You are so committed, and are a big reason I come back to these boards. I bet others will agree.

Tami - Congrats on quitting smoking! What an awesome thing to accomplish!

I would like to lose 6-8 pounds this month. I've noticed that stress is a MAJOR factor for losing weight for me... so I guess I also want to control my stress-levels a bit...

Camaswa - I'm also the same way. I have to see my weight in black and white for it to register with me. I try to weigh in every so often because I noticed that, if I do it every day, I do get obsessed and stress out about any changes (which leads to more weight due to the stress).

annaedwet - I got nauseated a few times in the beginning. One day, it got so bad that I tried a sip of Sprite Zero, which seemed to help... I noticed that when I eat something I hadn't eaten in a while (in this case, it was eggs when I had been having Melba and cheese for breakfast), it tends to make me a little ill.

Hope everyone does great!

Of course i'm going to weigh in each and every am :-) after peeing and right when i wake up! :-) and before i have to weigh in at the center, i'll even check on the scale what clothes weigh less. yes, you can pee a lb away - you can even pee 2 lbs away!!

My main October goal is to get back on track. Most of the month of September was spent pretty far away from the program. I haven't even been to the center in over two weeks. I restarted today. I would like to lose no less than seven pounds this month.

my goal is 8 lbs for October. 8 is my lucky number...yesterday was my 18th year anniversary w/ my DH. i like 8s....they are curvey and phat in all the right places :-) i am eating Egg custard that i made last night and it is sooooo yummy! the first thing i've made from the cookbook. i added a little maple extract and it tasted just like flan..... took vanilla creme protein powder, water and eggs. mixed in blender and put in cooking dish. cooked for 35 min. at 350 (2 Vanilla creme HNS powders or 2 servings vanilla protein powder, 6 eggs, 12 oz water) i doubled the order. supposed to be 2 servings but really it's like 4! counts on metaslim as one protein and one creamy HNS....

I lost a couple pounds at Fridays WI, but as I expected, the weekend at my parents' did not go well. I ate off for three days, but I ate small portions, and only gained 4 lbs. as opposed to my usual 6-10 lbs. for a weekend of off plan eating, so I'm quite happy with that. I should lose at least two of it by tomorrow morning (today was my first day back).

My goal for the month is 11 lbs. again, even though I only lost half that last month. Looking back, I was off plan quite a few times in September, so I'm hoping to make October a good clean month with the exception of one potluck meal mid-month. I doubt I'll make my goal, but that doesn't bother me too much.

annedwat-- could you have had the stomach flu? It's going around all over the country right now. That said, I have a friend who had to slowly work up to drinking all the HNS because it made her nauseous (she never actually threw up, though).

Jen-- I also weigh every morning. It keeps me focused, and I especially need to weigh after I've cheated to help me face the music. I didn't do that last time, but I really think it's helpful for me. They say any more than once a day is getting "obsessive," but I've on occasion done the same thing you did if I had to go to the bathroom again or something. Also-- I pee about two pounds every morning, lol! I guess I must be obsessed-- I've weighed before and after a few times just out of curiosity. Anyway, good luck this week. Have you thought about adding exercise in now? It's always tough to start, but once I do and it becomes my routine, I find I start to enjoy it. It also makes a big difference in how your body looks, even at relatively the same weight. It also helps keep my eating in check (which you don't seem to have too much trouble with) because I don't like to have "wasted" my exercise efforts by eating junk. It might just be the jumpstart you need now that you're getting so close to your goal.

rrag0517 - I think you have an awesome attitude! I wish you much success.

camaswa - Thank you for your sweet words. It is definitely a fine line, but given that I rationalized away 20 pounds over the holidays last year, I don't want to make that mistake again.

rachels77 - I know exactly what you mean about stress. Do you have a game plan to deal with it?

mememiss40 - :goodluck: Just take everything a day at a time and I know you'll do great!

bigdog - Thank you for making me laugh. I love your analogy about the 8's.

ginpea - I'm sorry September was such a rough month for you. I hope that even if you don't have time to go to the center that you still come to the boards. The support here is invaluable! :)

tkdtara84 - Yes, I added exercise last week and have been walking every other day. It was 9:30 last night, but hubby and I got the tv moved to the gym and I walked a mile while watching "Dancing with the Stars." :) BTW, now you've got me wanting to see if I can pee 2 pounds! LOL

I had a good weigh in on my home scales this morning. Yesterday's home weigh in was 156.8. Today was 155.6! I'm down to the 155's!!!!! I can't believe I'm 15 pounds from goal. This is just wild. After talking with my counselor yesterday, I went back to step 1 of the plateau sheet I made up. While I didn't think I was cheating, it's amazing how such little deviations in the plan can truly trip up your weight loss. I was totally, completely, 100% OP yesterday, threw in a little exercise, and there you go. The scales played nice! :goodscale:

I had maintenance weigh in this morning and stayed the same, 5 1/2 pounds under goal... I added an additional home made oatmeal cookie, so that is a good thing. Carbs are a big trigger to me, so anytime I have a carb, I also have some protein with it..

Wishing everyone a great weigh in week..

Ok now I really have to see how much my pee weighs!

I have weighed at home every other day for the last 6 and been down exactly .4 each time. Weird, huh? It's not fast enough for my liking, but I will admit it is great motivation to have each weigh in be lower than the last. That's keeping me going. I guess that's the idea with the twice a week check ins but I live too far from the center to do that. So weighing in moderation!

Patzi: Is that cookie recipe in the book or is it yours? I'd love to have it because cookies are something I love! Way to maintain and still have a "treat!"

Congrats to all the losers this week! It's great to see how well the program works!

tried some wonderful new foods this week. First of all and you guys will laugh, i did scrambled eggs in a mug today. just spray PAM in a coffee cup and crack your egg or eggs in there. if you want a egg over hard, don't scramble. put a paper plate on and microwave for 20 sec, then 10 sec. (microw. are different so don't let them blow up) easy and very fast. was slammed at work today so had a hazelnut Protidiet bar for lunch
my DH made me grilled tuna 4 oz w/ 1/4 cup northern beans, sauteed garlic, onions and yellow squash 4 oz for dinner.
it was soooooo good and OP. yesterday, i made the Egg Custard from the MRC cook book and it's incredible. eggs, vanilla creme protein powder, water, baked. i added some maple extract so it tastes like flan. i think vanilla extract would be good too. or even lime or lemon?
i had a chicken stir fry the other night..used the spicy Mrs. Dash on the chicken breast and sauteed using chicken bouillon with shredded red cabbage and zucchini. it was really good too. sounds like weird combos but i liked it and kicked up the veggies. i was getting a bit tired of salads...
my order came in from Diet Direct today so felt like it was Christmas!! . i know i got my water in because there were three empty glasses on my desk! haha! and 2 empty bottles. i keep bottles of water everywhere so i remember to get it in.
Flush that fat away is what i say! i really do plan on staying on this plan forever so was excited to try new recipes.
please add on to this thread what recipes you have tried and what works for you. We can do this and all be losers :-)

Hey Everyone...

I tried to post yesterday but kept getting an error. I've been so exhausted from moving and then the soreness set in so the past couple of days have just been real bad.

I only lost 1.5lbs last week and thought I would have big drop yesterday at WI but I could barely keep my eyes open and finally broke down and went to the chiropractor. So I only lost 0.5 - but at least it was a loss! I was sure it would have been a gain because of the way I was feeling.

I still have a ton of unpacking to do and still getting things out of my apartment to move to the house. You never really know how much stuff you have, until you have to move it!

Not sure when I will have time to catch up on all the threads but just wanted to pop in and say hello!

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Hi Ladies!

Well, I have been good this week...just very busy with a new puppy!! One might think that chasing after him may help on the scales....hmm...maybe? LOL I did go to the gym twice...just cardio, but better than nothing :)

I do my WI today at 2pm. I plan to have just a Nutra Bar for lunch. It is my pre-mentrual week...so some bloating, but hopefully I am drinking enough water to avoid the added water retention.

I am hoping for a 1-2lb loss...I haven't been perfect this week...but mostly I am happy with my food journal.

Have a great day, everyone! Stay focused on the prize!!

Happy Wednesday!!!

Well, I just had the best WI in a long time. I'm down to 154!!!!!!!! I lost two pounds in two days!!!!

I took my counselor's advice to heart and really monitored what went into my mouth since Monday, making sure I was 100% OP. I'm shocked at how the little things were making such a huge difference on the scale. That was a wake up call for me. I just need to buckle down, stay OP, and get some walking in. I'm so happy right now.

I also tried the Turkey Sausage recipe for dinner last night. I didn't have the red peppers, but I made it anyway and was surprised at how good it was. I'm having some for lunch and have enough for breakfast too. :)

camaswa - All those little drops definitely add up. Hang in there and you'll be at your goal before you know it!

Goneforgood1128 -Congratulations on reaching 40 pounds! Keep up the great work.

bigdog - Have you tried the turkey sausage yet? YUM!!!

twobabiesinnc -My advice would be to plan, plan, plan. Plan your drinks, supplements, water, food, everything. This is the single biggest issue with people staying on plan. In addition, visit these boards often for support when you can't get to the center.

Candi -So great to see you pop in. Hopefully things will slow down soon and you can focus on you again. :)

Congrats, Jen! A two pound loss is excellent.

I haven't gone back in to WI yet this week-- mostly because I didn't want to be up on Monday from my weekend at my parents'. However, I'm already back down where I was before, so I'm hoping Friday will show a pound loss-- at least it would be something!

Food stumbling blocks just seem to be cropping up for me all over the place. My father in law is visiting on Sunday, and I'm cooking. At least I have a measure of control over the food, but he has asked to grill out hamburgers, so that can get a bit tricky. Also, I really don't want it to be obvious that I'm dieting. He's kind of a dirty old man, and I know he'll make some inappropriate comment if he notices. I look significantly smaller since the last time he saw me, though, so I'll probably have to endure that anyhow. Furthermore, I'll be stressed with him around, and that's never a good thing for me since I'm an emotional eater. Maybe I can just wear really baggy clothes, and he won't notice anything! :)

Maybe you could grill yourself and your hubby turkey burgers?? Just indicate that you prefer them?? I don't know. It is tough. Like you, I really have been rather private about this diet, also. I really don't much like attention from it all either.

Maybe have some sugar free candies laying around to pop in your mouth when you feel like emotional eating coming on? Sometimes works for me...takes that craving away:) Let us know how it goes!

Hello ladies!!

Well, it is starting out to be a great day OP!! I have only been awake for 2 hours, though!! LOL

Seriously...I am going back and forth on what my weightloss goal should be. I am not realy concerned with what BMI indicates is "should" be. I want to be comfortable, and I want to be able to maintain it...my understanding is that the lower I go, the tougher it is to stay there.

My first goal was 175 lb. Then I changed it to 165lbs....now I am feeling like maybe 160 lbs? I guess I have finally seen that this weightloss IS possible, so maybe that has motviated me to keep going. I really do think that being in the 160's the rest of my life would be good....and some have like a 5 lb cushion during stabilization/maintanence...so I am thinking that is my current plan. May need more weeks OP, but in the end, I will be happy I had them.

Anyone else change their goal weight...multiple times??? It is hard to know when we should stop!

I'm the same way about being private about the diet... I think that, if too many people know I'm on it, I feel like they're watching everything I eat or if I spent a whole lot of money on something and then it puts more stress on me. In the past, when I've been complimented on my weight loss, it has actually derailed me because I start worrying and then thinking "what's the point?"... I know that's a weird thought pattern, but it has happened. So far this time, though, I seem to enjoy the compliments more, without people knowing I'm on the program.

As for FILs, I agree that maybe cooking a turkey burger or trying a sirloin or something might be more comfortable to you... We had some guests over and my husband grilled out some steak... he just left the seasoning and sauces off mine and replaced my seasoning with Mrs. Dash steak seasoning... it was wonderful. I measured the portion, added my veggies, and was a happy camper.

Hey, everyone! I'm still amazed at how my body is responding to re-evaluating my diet and throwing a little bit of walking in.

Home Scale Weigh In
Monday = 156.8 pounds
Tuesday = 155.6 pounds
Wednesday = 154.2 pounds
Thursday = 153.8 pounds

That's 3 pounds since Monday!!!!! The conversation with my counselor on Monday about my little deviations (that I didn't think were a big deal) appear to have made all the difference in the world. I only wish everyone on this board could have the same experience I did.

To top it off, I'm PMSing and still losing. Crazy!!!

Hello everyone. I just wanted to stop in and give an update. I haven't even been on the boards in about 2 weeks. I have surgery about a week and a half ago. I am back at work but limited in what exercise I can do. I am able to do some walking. I have gained a few pounds since the surgery but hope I can get those off soon.

Anyway my news is that I am officially on Maintenance! Now this is scary!!

Good luck to everyone this month!

Hi Jen! What were the little "deviations" you were making? I wonder if I am doing them, too?

Tami

I was wondering the same thing! Please tell us what you were/weren't doing. I know I have let some things slip as I've been on it longer and longer. So far, I'm still losing, but I'm sure the time will come when I have to clean up my act.

As for being private about being on a diet-- I don't care as much with friends or other family, even my other in-laws, but my FIL is a bit slimy, to be honest. He's only like that where women are concerned, but I've just always been a bit creeped out. He always comments on my appearance, etc. Luckily, I knew my husband for a long time before I met my FIL, and he was raised by other people anyhow, or I might have had some serious concerns! We don't see him often, so at least I don't have to deal with it frequently.

I would just eat slightly off plan and forget about it, but I did that last weekend, and I'm gaining ground again, and I hate to cheat and just keep treading water. I liked the sirloin suggestion. I think I'll try chicken instead, though, and it wouldn't be weird if I didn't eat the bread. I can still make hamburgers as well, and I can make a fruit salad and a regular salad, and I won't even look weird! Thanks! Sometimes you just need someone to help you talk it through. :)

October goal: 7 pounds, today down 1.5. 5.5 to go. I'm not seeing the numbers I want... Trying not to be bummed out but I am. I am also looking forward to Jen's reply about the little things. Maybe that will help me. I tend not to weigh or measure. Weighing vegetables just seems excessive... I'm getting at least 64 oz. water. What else could I do? I am taking a 12-day treatment of prednazone for a shoulder injury so maybe there isn't anything I can do but stay on program and have faith. The pred is making me feel anxious which makes me want to eat... or drink. Or drink. Sigh. White knuckle time.

Hi All,
Just wanted to jump back in a say howdy since I haven't posted since September! I'm still struggling, trying to stay OP. I do well until the afternoon, when I'm bored with staying OP and want a taste of something different. Sometimes I wish I worked out of the house, just so I wouldn't be around a kitchen all day!! Still haven't gone back to WI...it's been since Sept. 8!!! How crazy is that! On our scales, I'm down another 4-5 lbs. since then, for a total of 12-13 lbs off. I plan to WI in the beginning of the week, either Monday or Tuesday and would love to have 18 off:) That's probably not reasonable, but I'm going to aim there!

I'm reading all your posts, even though I haven't commented. Love all the different ideas and need to incorporate them into my life! I can't pay all this $$$ to sabotage myself.

Off to mow, have a great weekend all! We're in the 80's again, not normal for northern Indiana right now, but I'll take it:)

you'll prob. see a weight gain w the prednazone or at least i always did when i had to take it. my doc tried to give it to me one time and i had just reached lifetime w/ WW few yrs ago). i was like, oh h*** no and he said i didn't have anything to worry about (wt. gain) and i was like, DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IVE WORKED TO GET TO THIS WEIGHT??? of course that skinny little doctor did NOT have a clue what i was talking about :-) also made me want to slap someone - i have very low tolerance to meds.... walking and riding my bike helped...i'm not a doctor but i've never found taking it or not taking it made any difference. (hope i don't offend anyone but before my mom passed away, she was taking 23 pills! and the docs that did that to her still piss me off) sorry for the vent....

Bigdog, I am afraid you are right about the prednazone. And I really am feeling I want to eat everything in sight. Last night I took a bath and stayed in my bedroom just to keep as far from the kitchen and TV has possible. Long walk today. 6 more days. Wow, miss a couple of days, miss a lot. Sorry I've been MIA. My munchkin developed pink eye and I had to take her to the doctor yesterday and then tend to the princess. She's totally worth it. :D

I wish I could say I'm doing something earth-shattering to have such a great weight loss this week, but really, I'm not. I'm following the green menu exactly as written with no deviations. Here's an example:

Breakfast
4 oz. Turkey Sausage
1 slice lo cal toasted bread
Orange HNS w/Orange Diet Rite

Lunch
3.5 oz. Ground Turkey w/Taco Seasoning & 0.5 oz. Cheddar Cheese
4 oz. Broccoli or 8 oz. Lettuce
Apple
Wildberry HNS w/Red Raspberry Diet Rite

Dinner
4 oz. Grilled Chicken
4 oz. Green Beans
1 slice lo cal toasted bread

All that plus 2 more HNS drinks (with Diet Rite mixed in) and 90-100 oz. of water a day.

I do other things with my menus, but that's pretty much it. Green menu. As written.

Some of my deviations:
Turkey Tacos - I was having turkey tacos for dinner. The problem with that was, I would eat the whole tortilla instead of just the 1/2 as instructed. My rational, what was the big deal? It was fat free and only 79 (yeah, 79) calories. On top of that I would add some shredded cheese (not measured) in addition to the 4 oz. of turkey. My counselor said cheese was breakfast or lunch ONLY. So, to get back on track with the turkey taco meat I love, I only use 3.5 oz. of turkey and 0.5 oz. for lunch (never dinner). Then, instead of using a tortilla shell, I just put it in a regular bowl and think of it as a taco salad.

Diet Pepsi - This is one of my guilty pleasures. Love it! So, I'm mixing Diet Rite in my HNS and it is helping to satisfy my soda cravings.

Bread - Bread is one of my biggest challenges. At night, whether from boredom or hunger, I would have an extra slice or two. Again, I would think it was an OP food anyway, what was the big deal if I had one or two more slices? Uh, big deal. I may as well have been shoving chocolate in my mouth the way my body reacts to it.

Honey Mustard - I would regularly use this on my salads, in moderation. While I still lost consistently while eating it, and I would use my F&C Blockers, I'm not using it at the moment.

Restaurants - I usually eat out a couple of times a week. Sometimes I would forget my F&C Blockers. Now, I'm sure that there is a bottle in my purse before going out.

Exercise - I wasn't getting any. Now, I'm walking about 1 - 1.5 miles every other day.

Sleep - I was only getting about 6 hours sleep a night. I had a lot to do after the munchkin goes to bed. I try to plan better now and am getting about 7-8 hours a night. Plus now, if I'm getting the urge to eat at night, I go to bed. Works every time.

I hope this helps some of you. :)

Thank you so much, Patzi! I haven't set a stabilization goal yet. I know it's coming. I'm just trying to get to the 140 mark. I'm still amazed my body is doing so well post-baby. thanks, this is very helpful! i'll have to try the ground turkey w/ taco seasonings. that's something i could fix and eat as leftovers. (and DH would like too) the turkey sausage sounds good too. is that a certain brand? i'm cooking challenged...my DH is an Executive Chef and if i cook, it's microwave, stove top (from can or pkg.) or something w/ few ingredients. he did get me a crockpot so im thinking homemade veggie soups w/ chicken? good way not to burn the house down. haha!
i know what you mean about adding a little here and a little there. it adds up! esp. w/ bread...if im tempted to eat 2 slices of bread or an entire english muffin (esp w/ take out) , i quickly give the other half to the dogs. i've had a subway sub w/ lean meats and lots of veggies....took 2 bites of the bread (estimated the 40 cal) and gave the rest to the seagulls at the beach. when i started this plan, had alot of pasta and rice in the pantry so i'd add a little to my 3 dog's food to get rid of! hate to throw stuff away...

Hi Ladies,
I weighed in this past Saturday and I was down 1.5 pounds. I did Metaquick for 5 days and I loved it! I wish I could stay on that for longer! It was so easy and I was never hungry.
I changed my goal weight so I'm very close to it. I changed my goal weight since I always weigh heavier at the center. I thought if I changed it to 135 instead of 130, then I'd really be weighing close to 130 at home which was my original plan. I know I can get a few pounds under 135 to have a bit of a pad.
Congrats to all the losers. I love reading this forum.

BTW.. made the pork tenderloin and it was delicious.

Hi ladies! Whew...busy weekends..birthday parties, more coming up...followed quickly by Thanksgiving and Christmas!! I will soon be seriously facing some challenges!!

I saw the note about the "Diet Rite" versus any other diet soda...and that is that it is FREE of Calories, Caffeine, Sodium, and Sugars....other diet sodas all have sodium, and most have caffeine also.

Well, here is my current goal....I turn 40 years old on my official WI day the week after this coming one. (I WI on Wednesdays) So, since I am 3lbs shy of signing the 40 lb board, I plan to do it on that day!! A 40 lb loss will put me at 171 lbs on the scale, and that number is part of the year I was born!!! 1971....hmm..I am so crazy, I know...LOL I make silly connections all the time! Regardless, it could be the best birthday gift to myself ever...no one will be able to compete with that!!:hat:

Well, here is to another OP week..."one day at a time."

I usually have two eggs (either scrambled or fried) and 1/2 of a 100 calorie english muffin (this was approved by my center--only the 100 calorie ones, though!). I vary it sometimes by having 1 egg and 1 oz cheese (usually scrambled egg and melt the cheese with it) and still the eng muffin. I also use the turkey sausage-I've made the one in the cookbook (very good), but also buy the ready made turkey sausage patties in the store ( I think it's Jimmy Dean)--fully cooked so all I have to do is heat it. Today, I cut up the sausage and heated it, then scrambled the egg in with it and ate it on the eng muffin-very good!

I also sometimes have "Egg in a nest"--basically, you take a piece of bread and toast it. Then, cut out the middle using a circle cutter or a glass. Place the toast in a heated skillet and crack an egg in the middle and cook it-still egg and toast, but a new twist!

When I first started, I ate one egg and one ounce of cheese every day, and wrapped it in 1/2 of a Flat-out bread, or 1/2 Lavash--like a breakfast burrito-would be really good with the turkey sausage too!

Bigdog - I'm like you...cooking challenged. LOL Trust me, if I can do this, anyone can. Here's the MRC Recipe:

TURKEY SAUSAGE

2-1/4 lbs. ground turkey
1-1/2 tsp. salt
1-1/4 tsp. ground sage
3/4 ts. ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground red pepper
1 to 2 tsp. fennel seed

In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly combine all ingredients. Divide mixture into twelve 3 oz. portions and shape each portion into a patty.

Spray a nonstick griddle with nonstick cooking spray and heat. Add sausages and cook, turning until browned on both sides and cooked throughout.

Mind you a serving of turkey OP is actually 4 oz. if you are on the green menu, 6 oz. if you are on the beige. So you can shape your patties accordingly. I also tend to scale back on the salt a bit. If you are in a huge rush, they have turkey sausage at the grocery store, but just be sure to do the math and convert the sodium content. Most packages are for about a 2 oz. serving, so you would need to double that to get an idea of how much sodium it really is and is it worth it. That's why I like making my own. I can control the salt.

brandy - Congrats on your 1.5 pounds! You're almost there! :)

ginpea - As Tami said, it's zero everything. But, when you mix it in with your HNS, it really gives them a kick.

Tami - Hope you are having a good day today!

naschlim -You really should try the turkey sausage recipe. It's actually quite good.

Elizabeth -Thanks for some great breakfast ideas!

Have a great Monday, everyone!!!!

Can you all give me some breakfast ideas please? I'm stalling at that time, stuck on toast, cottage cheese and HNS. I'd like a couple of variations so I don't feel so stuck in a rut! Jen, what kind of turkey sausage do you get for breakfast? That sounds really good! Need to go totally back on plan this week. I'm only kidding myself when i cheat and not having WI in a while isn't good!

I usually do 2 eggs ("fried" in Pam) with a 40-cal toast with butter spray... but sometimes eggs make me a bit nauseated, so I do 3 oz. cheese melted on Melba or a Chocolate Cereal Meal Replacement bar if I'm in a hurry (or if I'm craving chocolate!)

I finally sucked it up and went in for a weigh in after being off program for a little over two weeks. Much to my surprise, and the counselor's who I'd just confessed everything to, I'd lost 4 more pounds! So happy. I was dreading that weigh in. Being just five pounds away from that 30 pound milestone gives me a whole new gust of "want-to" so I'm back on track!

Ginpea, that is so great! You must be unconsciously making good choices, which is what it's ultimately all about.

More breakfast ideas: I do that same sausage as Jen but add hot pepper flakes I portion out 3 oz. Servings (cooked) into baggies and scramble one with an egg very quickly. Serve on lite toast. SOmetimes I do egg whites, which give me more volume.

I seem to stay fullest on this- tried cottage cheese but that didn't seem to stick with me.

Another sodium- free diet soda is Hansons. I love the ginger ale and spritz with sparkling water. I buy it at Trader Joes.

This is so important! How much of the time do we eat stuff that isn't even worth it? Stuff that's not even all that good! Why do we do it? To please others, to blend in, because we feel sorry for ourselves.... All kinds of reasons. I had read the tip of asking yourself 'will this help or hinder my progress?' On MRC, if it's off program, the answer is pretty much gonna be 'hinder' every time. That paves the way to the question 'why, then, do I want it? Am I truly hungry or it there another feeling I'm longing for... Easier said than done. But recognizing that corn on the cob wasn't worth it to you was FABULOUS. You go.

i usually eat 2 boiled eggs and cinnamon toast (lite wheat bread, spray butter and cinnamon) toasted in broiler, 1/2 grapefruit

or if i'm not rushing out the door...

cheese scrambled in eggs w/ cinnamon toast., 1/2 grapefruit

French toast, lite bread dipped in whipped eggs and cooked. sprinkle w/ cinnamon and spray w/ spray butter. if you eat fruit for breakfast, strawberries or blueberries on top

it was pretty cool. i like being in control. my counselor sometimes will say do you crave this or that and i'm like nope not really a craving...sometimes it's just there...like for example my DH would have cape cod Jalepeno chips on the counter.. used to eat them all the time just becuz they were there..would walk by and grab a handful, then another, etc. one time i did figure out how many would make 40 calories and i ate those instead of my 40 cal melba toast :-)

Jen, the tacos were delish!!! made w/ the ground turkey... my DH was so excited like a little kid...it was like OH, BOY Tacos!!! LOL, too funny. he bought some small corn tortillas that were 60 cal so i took one of them and put the taco meat, cheese, tons of shredded lettuce and spicy salsa casera on top (Embasa brand) (not sure if i was supposed to have that but it's only 10 calories) no sugar. i didn't wrap the taco because i could only have one measly shell :-) so piled everything on top....

i also bought the keilbasa turkey sausage so figured i'd cook that w/ green peppers and green onions? can we have sauerkraut?

Jen-- those are some of the same "modifications" I've been making. Sometimes (okay, most of the time) I skip my veggie. I hate them. I like salads but only with real dressing, and I like other veggies, too, but always dressed up a little with some butter or cheese or something. I did so well in the first month about forcing myself to eat them, but for about a month now, I've just totally skipped them. I also have been letting myself eat cheese at dinner, and I eat a whole tortilla instead of half...I do a lot of the same stuff you were doing. I haven't stalled yet, so I suppose I'll just keep doing what I'm doing for now, but I'm glad I've heard about your experience because I'm sure the time will come when I'll have to shape up again. One good thing is that I'm doing some pretty heavy exercise, and on the days I have a good workout, I tend to lose no matter what little deviations I throw in.

I know I should follow the program better, but I'm just so bored with the food choices. I'm sure many can relate to that. I'm still losing, but I'm sure it's slower than it would be if I were eating better. At least this has me thinking-- maybe I will try to straighten up for even just a week and see what happens. I'd probably have a great loss, and then that might motivate me to continue.

ginpea - Congrats on the loss! Just take things a day (or meal) at a time and you will be signing the 30 pound board before you know it. :)

bigdog - I've had to experiment with different types of ground turkey to find the one I like best. I tried 99% lean, but it was sooooo dry. Bleh! I tried the 80% lean, but wayyyyy to greasy, even after draining...and draining...and draining. It seems the 93% lean works best for me and only requires me to drain the meat once and has the best flavor. As for the green peppers and onions, those are ok to eat as they are OP, but I don't think the sauerkraut is. ;)

tkdtara84 - I have also skipped my veggies. Guilty. I forgot that one. And, my honey mustard has to be the regular kind. I've tried the fat free kind, but I don't like the taste. But, since correcting my deviations, I've lost 4 pounds since last week and it's TTOM. I feel like crap right now, and it seems I have a sore throat and slight fever, but I'm still losing. :p

Weigh in at lunch time. Woohoo!

In defense of veggies- I went to a cooking class where I learned about blanching and it has given me a whole new attitude! Good quality vegetables can be so delicious when they aren't cooked to mush. When you blanch, they stay bright and colorful and sweet. (I do like to salt with good sea salt) A light drizzle of olive oil too.

Then there is roasting: asparagus, green beans, fennel, broccoli, cauliflower.... Toss with good olive oil and roast in a 400 oven. Roasting makes some of these turn a bit nutty and so much more flavorful than boring old steaming.

Definitely they could be doctored up with some garlic and maybe various herbs too.
Try it!!

Way to go, Jen! You just keep losing!!! Very proud of you :)

Myself, on the other hand....WI today I lost "0" I didn't have a perfect week, but it wasn't horrible either. The past two weeks I lost 5 lbs total...and now this hault. May not be signing that 40lb board by my birthday next week afterall :( My own fault~

I am a bit discouraged. It looks like they want my goal weight to be where my BMI indicates it "should" be. That puts me in my mid 140's!!!! That has not ever been my personal plan. Plus, that goal feels overwhelming to me. I changed my goal to 160, and truly feel good about that. Originally, it was 175, but now that I am there, I want to go on a little more. I don't know...I am confused, frustrated, and left my appt. feeling pretty crappy. I lost more weight during PMS!

Current plan is to not eat out this week...and stay OP 99.99% of the time. I just wish my goal didn't have to create such confusion...should it be a BMI under 24.5 or what I think would be my best?...even though that would still be considered to be "over weight?"

Please help, ladies....I feel pretty unmotivated right at the moment. I ate a very OFF program lunch because of it. I need to get back on track.

OMG Jen! You are killing me!!! You are totally proving that it doesn't have to slow down as you get closer to goal. You just have to get focused! Jen, I must say, you Rock! Congrats on the awesome weigh in. You must be really proud!

I am chugging along on maintenance. I find it hard to stay under my 1200 calories. Today I ate just like I would on my last week of stabilization with dairy and the extra carbs included and I went over 1200 (and I didn't even add my fat for the day). Of course this included one protein drink. They want me to be drinking 2-3 but I just can't fit it into my calories. I think tomorrow I will try egg whites instead of eggs for breakfast. That will save me almost 100 calories.

camaswa
10-13-2011, 12:05 AM
Junie, maintenance is only 1200 calories? I'm doomed. Seriously I am shocked it is that low. That's the definition of a low calorie diet, isn't it? Do you mind sharing how tall you are?

Junie04

Camaswa.
I am at 1200 calorie , but never counted calories since I started maintenance. I eat what I want that I know I will not gain weight with. I am 5'4.
My friend is on 1500 calories. She told them that is what she wanted and that is what she did, but again, she does not count calories either.. I was told it was a guide to keeping weight off.. Another friend is on 1300 calories.

Junie...
What I did when I was on maintenance, I figured out what I wanted to eat the three meals a day , added some snacks, and saw that I could maintain with that and even lose more weight, but never really dealt with the calorie counting.. If you are having a problem with it, you may be trying too hard.
After stabilization, I knew what I could have and not have, so the 1200 did nothing for me. But that is me and everyone is different.. I refused to take all the supplements and the drinks while on maintenance, as I felt like it was a crutch.. What I did do, is I added more protein to my meals to offset the HNS drinks..I do take one on occasion. I hate to see someone struggling, after reaching goal, as it is so frustrating.. Is there anything I can help you with?
Also, if you want to do the calorie counting, tell them to up your calories and see if you can maintain your weight. Maybe someone else on maintenance can tell us how they are doing with calorie counting. I did journal everything and still do that goes in my mouth, food and water.. And if you recall, I have gained as much as 2 pounds on maintenance, figured what I had that did it, deleted it and lost the weight, so it is all doable, but I feel so bad when someone is having a problem...

I definitely didn't mention the struggles I am going through to deter or scare anyone going through the program. I still think it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. So please keep up the good work and stay with it! They have told me that after I keep the weight off for a year that it will be easier on me. So keep that in mind too.

Patzi,
I have been strict this week on my plan because I had gained so much from the last two weeks when I was down for my surgery. Also, I knew I would be going to eat out twice this week for lunch and I wanted to be able to eat something that wouldn't ordinarily be on plan. I am "planning" for that, so to speak. I just went weigh in and lost 2 pounds!

I am glad to know, though, that you don't count calories. Maybe once I get into the low end of my 6 pound range I will feel comfortable doing that too. Thanks for your input and I will keep you posted!

Hey, Junie -

Awesome job! I know it may not help, but when my hubby lost 115 pounds on the plan, he had some fluctuations during maintenance (and still does, somewhat)... he just figured what his "triggers" were (i.e. cake, sugary BBQ sauces, and regular pasta with no protein)... he still has those things every so often, but he compensates by eating more healthy the next few times... He admits to being bored with chicken and salad (which really helped him eat - because there was so much volume) but enjoys eating with me on the plan this time (I love trying new recipes and such)...

I know that's "rambly", but I think you are doing awesome and are quite an inspiration!

patzi

rachel 77..
Your husband is sure an inspiration to me. I understand the fluctuations during maintenance, but weight alwasy does come off if one gains.

Tell hubby, if I do have something like cake, I will have protein with it. I may even have an HNS.. The center told me to do that.. Plus I always take a fat
and carb blocker..

I also have my triggers... So glad you mentioned about your husband's triggers which encompass some of mine.

And yes, Junie is sure an inspiration, for sure..and 2 pounds off on weigh in, which is fantastic.

Thanks for sharing.

Can you email me the MRC pdf? I dont have enough privilege to access the pm system yet. I dont even know the process for gaining access, please help!

Maybe if I can kick that into gear, things will start moving faster on the scales again.

just curious ....are you on a different plan where you can have fruit for breakfast?

no, and i got totally busted last week and this week too for eating my grapefruit for breakfast instead of lunch. finally i told my counselor that i would peel the dang grapefruit so i could eat it for lunch! :-) i'm on the go all the time (in sales) - i do eat other fruit for lunch like strawberries or blueberries mixed in w/ my HNS for lunch too.

had a disappointing weigh in this week - was all excited thinking i'd lost 3 lbs (like my scale at home said) well, drank a HNS, then had water, then a 2 hour sales meeting before weighing in...only lost 1/2 lb. the counselor started lecturing me as i was walking out the door telling me to exercise more, stay OP blah blah..i wanted to get the **** out of there! i told him i drank a bunch of water in the meeting...anyway i wasn't making excuses - it was the truth!
i was wondering if anyone has gotten on the scales, felt like it was wrong and asked them to weigh you again in the same visit.? i walk 35-45 min. every day in the am...anyway weird day!

Hi..
Had maintenance weigh in today and stayed the same, putting me 5 1/2 pounds under goal, so am happy with that.. This week I experimented adding more squash and pumpkin to my diet, to see how I would do, and no weight gain with it. I gain weigh when I eat starchy veggies, but maybe my body is finally accepting it. My greatest thrill is what should I add to my diet this week. I think I have told you I can have two glasses of wine with no weight gain, but do take a fat and carb blocker.

There was a woman I was speaking with while waiting my turn and she was 220 pounds and has lost 75 pounds, and wants to try and lose another 10.
She showed me a before picture and she looks like a different person.

A man that was waiting his turn was 240 and lost 90 pounds, and he has started stabilization. He also looks great.

So you see , this diet is wonderful.. It works if you work it. I thought this would be a boost to y'all to know about people having great losses.

Wishing everyone a great weigh in and a great day. Think thin.

Tami - First off, big hugs! This can definitely be an overwhelming journey at times. Here's my advice for what it's worth. You just hit your original goal. Celebrate that! That is an accomplishment in itself. :) Congratulations!!!! You said you feel good about 160, but the center wants you lower? My thought is to explain to them your concerns. Tell them, for now, you want to set your sights on 160. It is what you are comfortable with and mentally prepared for. If you want to stop there, then that's it. However, if you get there and decide you want to try for another 5 or 10, then that's YOUR choice. Take your goals in small portions so they don't get overwhelming. Above all else, don't let one counselor's thoughts about switching your goal de-rail all your progress. You've come too far. We're here for you! :)

Fluffy in Florida - If you are struggling, then that's the time to post more around here. We definitely understand what you are going through and may be able to give you the encouragement you need to make it through a difficult time.

shemyvonne - To get me your e-mail address, you can either post it here (and delete it after you receive the packet) or participate in the forum to the point you get to PM.

bigdog - If it makes you feel any better, a 20 ounce bottle of water weighs 1.3 pounds!!!! So, just think of it this way...you're gonna have a great weight loss next time! :D

birdfeet - Welcome and congrats on the 40 pounds! Keep it up!

patzi - Thank you for such encouraging stories and doing great this week! You are definitely giving me hope for maintenance! :)

I'm still chugging along staying 100% OP. I've had a bit of a sore throat this week and my body temperature is up 0.5 to 1.0 over it's normal. Not a fever, but elevated. I'm getting all my water in and then some to help the soreness out. I was warned by my counselor that my weight loss may slow a bit due to this because my body is focusing it's energy on getting better. But, as of this morning, I'm down to 152.4. However, tomorrow will be a calculated cheat. It's my munchkin's 2nd birthday!!!! For me, it's going to be extra special because the doctor's told me when she was born that the 2nd birthday would be the milestone birthday for her. Preemies are considered to be on par with other babies born full term at that time. So, to celebrate this, I will take my F&C blockers and have a slice of cake to mark the occasion. After that, my OP life goes on. I'm not using it as a license to go crazy eating off plan. That's the thing that has finally clicked and I have hopefully learned. ;)

Hey Ladies! There are so many new people on here, I can't keep up!

I've been really struggling to stay OP at all. Today though, I decided I HAVE to do this. It's not going to fall off on it's own and I can't wish it away...so I must do the work to get the results I want! We have a cruise in January that I want to look and feel better for. I'm tired of being so self-conscience in my warmer clothes and swim suits! So, today I've done really well. I need to get in some more water and drink an HNS--I'm really hungry right now! Tonight we have a Ladies Night Out sponsored by the YMCA. I'm a little nervous about the dinner. I have a hard time eating with other people. I tend to give in because everyone else is eating. Last years dinner was a turkey sandwich, fruit and yogurt I think. Guess I'll stay away from the yogurt, eat one slice of bread and skip the fruit.

Patzi-thanks for all your encouraging words and motivation. You are very inspiring to me and I really enjoy reading about how you are doing.

JenB72-you are very encouraging as well! You are doing so well...makes me want to stay OP so I can have awesome results like you!

Tami-CONGRATS on making it to your original goal!!! :) I say stick to your guns and stay with the weight you're comfortable with. No counselor can tell you what to do with your body. I lost about 70 lbs. after my first kid, but where I got to was so low that I couldn't maintain it at all. If you know you can stay -happily- at 160, then do it!

Everyone else-thanks for helping me stay on track with your stories and information! I need it all :)

My youngest daughter's 4th birthday was this week and we have her party on Sunday. She wants Pizza Hut pizza--that will be a big temptation for me! That reminds me, what are the fat and carb blockers everyone is talking about? I had the Big 3 set, does that include the blockers too? I'm out of it now and debating if I want to get it again.

Have a great weekend. I probably won't be on here much, hopefully just to read answers to my questions!

I am new to MRC and this site. I started PreConditioning on September 24. My husband started at the same time. I have lost a total of 15 lbs so far. I have learned a lot from reading the post on here and appreciate all the useful information. I had WI today and was down 1.5 from the last WI which was Tuesday. I was hoping for more but I will take any loss. I would love to sign the 20 lb board this month. I have set that as a goal. So far I have not had major issues staying OP but it's only be 3 week (or will be tomorrow). Thanks for all the inspiration you guys have given me so far.

Bigdog, hang in. YOU know you are losing. I am starting to keep side-by-side records of center WIs and my own naked post-pee ones. There are variations but the trends reveal themselves. Just don't let them make you feel bad at your center or try to sell you something. I hope you get a really good loss soon, you deserve it. You are always so upbeat.

i had my best drop yet today at the WI: 3 pounds! So even though i had to take prednazone for 12 days, I still lost 5 pounds during that time. I am so pleased. I have been really heads-down and OP, but this weekend I have a pretty big social event that will be challenging. I'm not exactly advertising that I am doing this program so I am nervous. Its a sit-down dinner party, then out to a play, then back to their house for birthday cake. I thought I would eat something first so not starved, pass on the carb side dish (let's hope its not a pasta main course) and just take a bite or two of the cake.... I will be having some wine, I can tell you that for sure. Have a good weekend all.

Hello Ladies~

Thanks to those with such words of encouragement :) I pulled out of my slump by getting focused back on "Tami's" goal. I have made my first goal, and that is awesome....I just need to stay focused and not allow myself to get so discouraged.

It is so nice to come here and read all of your entries...I relate so much to many of them!

Let us all keep up the good work..one day at a time :) Thank you for being there for me, too:)

"I will be having some wine, I can tell you that for sure". LOL at that. you are like me....i'd give up my carb for a mich ultra beer! haha headed to an Oct. fest today and the bud man loves me so i have to drink some beer (so i don't insult him) LOL!! i'll also have my bottles of water in my big purse too so will be drinking tons of water. planning on having a big salad w/ grilled chicken before i go. oh, yeah and wearing very tight jeans that i can now get into. the thing w/ tight jeans is you really can't eat or drink too much without feeling uncomfortable! :-) i'm shopping out of my own closets now! and when i continue to lose more weight i had those clothes to choose from too! sizes in my closet range from 10 to ? anything over a 12 has the label cut out so who knows?! :-) went out to dinner w/ my DH last night and it was so nice to grab a pair of jeans and shirt and they fit! had a salad w/ bronzed tuna on top - yum!

that's fantastic!!! congratulations on your loss!!! when i'm at a dinner party and they don't have the choices i need to stay OP, i'll start taking stuff apart. like w/ sushi, i'll eat the seaweed, crab meat or whatever is in it, and leave the rice. pile on the wasabi! :-) take the skin off fried chicken..take the bread off sandwiches - w/ a pasta dish, eat the meat and veggies out of it, leaving the pasta. i try to vision that stuff as FAT...ewwwww gross and leave it on the plate. i do love desserts and will take a bite or two... at a sales meeting the other day, i grabbed a diet coke and left the warm chocolate chip cookies!! that's a first for me! but believe you me, i walked away quickly because if i was in the room for much longer they would have been in my belly for sure! and they had cheeteos there!!! yep, little orange fried fat thing a jiggies...left them too. hmmmm...discovered a little thing i never thought i had....willpower. YAY!!!!!

had to do the 60 day review and when my counselor asked me what the center could do to help me more, i told him it would be very helpful to provide more recipes, food ideas, what to select when eating out at various restaurants. (in my 60 days at MRC, i've gotten one suggestion from them and that was cinnamon toast) pitiful. the rest have been from all of you on this board. even when i wanted to order a MRC cookbook, they were out of them so i ordered from amazon (1/2 the cost so that worked out) he told me he eats the same thing every day..weighs his lettuce and has boiled chicken and i think eggs for b-fast. the other counselor told me she doesn't diet but takes over a $100 of supplements a month. did mention she eats the choc. pudding every night. when i tell them the variety of food i eat OP, they are like hmmm...that does sound good. i don't know, maybe they don't like the fact i don't buy HNSs from them or the supplements and aren't that gung ho to see me? i try to just go in and weigh in and get out. lately they take my blood pressure every single time. i did tell him that i get alot of tips on what to eat online and he said oh, great ! the MRC site? (i said sure! that's right - no way did i want him to know i go on here and talk about them) LOL! he then told me the MRC on FB is offering a contest where you can get a free hormone test. OH BOY!!!! woo hoo i reminded him i took the hormone test already...hmmmm..if i remember correctly i paid $100 for it. the results showed that i needed to spend $100 plus on supplements that they sell each month. go figure! wow. i am woman - i have hormones. i could have figured that out on my own. :-)
anyway, I love this Plan, i'm losing weight. i love all of you guys and everything you share... you are my motivation!! i do envy you that have wonderful counselors.
so if anyone is experiencing some of the same stuff i am, just remember, dont get discouraged - this is ALL about YOU so let's all think THIN !

That's the thing that has finally clicked and I have hopefully learned. ;)

Thank you Jen, wish you could clone yourself and be my counselor! :-) congratulations on your loss and success....wow, very motivating to stay OP and step up the exercise.. thks for sharing!

Checking in after a not-so-great weekend. Up until now I had been kind of hibernating on the weekends but I had three social engagments this past weekend. I didnt do so well. Birthday cake one night and homemade punpkin pie the next. Both times the hosts were so proud of their desserts and brought it out with such fanfare, I just felt too self-conscious saying no. I could have just taken a few bites and claimed I was stuffed, but I didnt. I guess I am going to have to learn how to get honest: "it looks delicious but I am on a weight loss program right now and I dont want to sabatoge the progress I am making." I try to hide that I am dieting.

I also drank quite a lot of wine -at one dinner they didnt even have water glasses on the table, just the wine! I really need to get more assertive about what I need. I really had planned to at least alternate between water and wine, but as it turned out, I didn't have ANY water at all. That is not good. And of course I didnt feel so perky the next day either.

I'm afraid to get on the scales. I dont have a WI till Friday, so I think I wlll just focus on program and try to stop feeling bad. I had a great week last week and I am so afraid I have now canceled it out. Sigh. This is my roller-coaster ride. I hate this.

Well, I'm back on 100% today, including the water. That's all I can do. On a positive front, I am wearing pants that just 2 weeks ago I could not zip all the way up. Today I am wearing them comfortably. Soon I will be like Bigdog, and shopping those 12s that have been sitting my closet.

i know! right? i met w/ one counselor and i was like wow, what are you, a size 2? well to find out i insulted her...she was a size 0!!! OMG and like 22. oh,well, i swear i came out of my mom at least a size 8 and kept growing! actually i was always thin growing up because i walked, rode my bike, played all sports and w/ 5 kids in the house we never stayed inside..was always playing. always had fresh veggies from the garden..we didn't think about eating all the time...

i did the same thing this weekend..drank beer friday night, saturday at festival and sunday on the boat!!! mich ultra and less than normal LOL!!! but did eat OP... because i was having lite beer, i didnt eat the fruit or any bread on those days...ate salads, steamed broccoli, grilled chicken, grilled tuna and drank tons of water before i left to go out and drank tons of water when i got home. Plus i drank 3-4 HNSs a day to keep my protein high. i was one lb down this am on my own scale. but i'm talking about prob. 80 oz. of water a day this weekend or more. i know i could lose faster if i didn't drink beer but i like to go out! :-) i do stand at the bar and don't sit down so that should be some activity points right? dancing is activity too! stepped up the activity too. walk the beach now instead of sitting in the chair. park further away from any store i go in... i tried on a suit this weekend i couldn't even get on when i bought it this summer (good sale) and it fits perfect. the waist is a little big!!! i couldn't believe it! it's sage so guess it's too late to wear now that it's fall? dang! so the big thing that is motivating me is getting into some of these clothes i havent worn in awhile :-)

Not sure what's going on, but I'm still not back to my old self yet. My temp is still up a bit and I feel like crap. Friday night I thought I had food poisoning. I had ALL the symptoms with the exception of vomiting. I think I spent most of the night in the bathroom. Was still nauseous Saturday morning, but it went away as the day went on. Sunday was like Friday night, just not as bad. Yesterday, I woke up with a very sore throat which may be from allergies and post nasal drip. I swear, I think I'm falling apart. :faint: Due to intestinal issues, my weight is back up a pound, but I think that is partly due to dehydration from all my trips to the bathroom so I'm trying to drink more water. I'll weigh in tomorrow and take it from there. I just hope this passes soon.

I am sorry you aren't feeling well, Jen. That is not fun:(

Well, ladies...I turn the big 40 tomorrow, and I don't think I will be signing that 40lb board. I will be close...but we shall see. No biggy, right? Just keep plucking along no matter what.

Our center is offering a 10-week extention to current program for $79. Is that worth it? I was told $99 for 6 weeks...so this sounds better, for sure!
I currently have until November 30th...and 14-20 lbs to go. I am thinking I should take this deal.

I have done great all week staying OP..until last night. Are there any tips that could help me today as far as my eating goes that might be good before a WI tomorrow? I am thinking fish for dinner?

I had maintenance weigh in and stayed the same, making me still 5 pounds under goal..

I was going out with friends Sunday and I knew I wanted to try a dessert. I have not had a dessert in a restaurant since I started MRC, so it was a treat. I had a piece of peanut butter pie, with whipped creme and fudge sauce. That was my only new addition to the week.. I did take a fat and carb blocker with this.. My main meal was OP, and I have added a glass of wine to my maintenance when I go out. One glass only, so all in all, I feel great maintaining.

I did eat very well the day before & also day after, as I knew I was going to have this dessert& knew weigh in was coming today. So, you see, being on maintenance is great. Everything in moderation.

To be honest with you, I have been off sugar desserts in so long, the dessert, as good as it was, made me queezy .

Hope y'all have a great weigh in and remember, stay focused and OP. That is the key to getting to maintenance.

I was told when wanting to lose weight, think eggs in mornning and fish for lunch and dinner.

Eggs in the morning, fish at lunch and dinner might get a bit old, but I think its a great way to get back on track or just buckle down for a few days. So here's a fish tip for any Trader Joes fans: there's a while frozen fish that comes in an orange bag, I think it is called roughy. The bag claims 'no fishy smell.' It is unbelieveably mild-tasting and great for fish tacos. I sprinkle with a little cumin and chili powder, a squirt of lime juice, wrap in foil and bake. I make a dressing for shredded cabbage that is essentially the same, plus a tad of olive oil. Then lots of cilantro and a little picco de gallo. Yum. Margaritas are optional.

Ok, I just have to ask, but you don't have to answer if you don't want to. A while back someone asked how you came up with your screen name and that was fun. Now, I'm wondering what are some of the "real names" behind the screen names. I'm just curious. :)

ok, when i first joined, i wanted to lose 10 -15 lbs before i went on vacation in Sept. i lost 12 lbs., all was good. i need another goal. am going to visit family in Nov in 3 weeks so am setting another goal...6 lbs. that's only 2 lbs a week, i can do that. the reason i joined MRC was because my sister emailed all these horrible photos of me at the reunion in June to EVERYONE. yikes. back view, side view....could have shot her. it's like, hello? don't you know you take photos from the waist up and not of people bending over. but that's ok, i'm losing and will now have the energy and speed to grab that camera out of her hands and smash it... oops sorry, this isn't about her, this is about ME :-) so 6 lbs less, here i come and maybe even more...but we'll start w/ a Good 6 lbs. down :-) by Nov. 4th.

Some chit chat on maintenance.

Went to center today as I forgot something there when weighing in yesterday. I met up with a lady I met when I started MRC. . She had more weight to lose than I did, but she is on maintenance. I did not realize it was the same person. She is the one that came up to me, as I did not recognize her.. She went from a size 22 to a size 6, and was in skinny clothes.. She said once she stopped cheating and fooling herself, she did fine, and lost 89 pounds and 101 inches.. Says she is more confident , and has so much more energy, and for the first time in ages she geels good and is very very happy.
Thought this may help one that is contemplating maintenance with anticipation or just struggling at this point..

Have a great day and think thin and stay focused.. That is the key, staying OP.

Yes, I am the stranger! It's been so long and don't even want to talk about how far behind I am. I don't think I've been on here for a couple of weeks. Shame on me!

We finally got moved into our house and I'm loving it! Such a nice quiet neighborhood. I mowed the yard for the first time this past Friday. What a work out! I haven't really been to the gym in about 3 weeks because of moving & work. This doing 2 jobs for the price of 1 is really starting to get old and I really wish they would hurry up and hire someone because the stress is really getting me down! And to add to the stress, my mom's car died and is going to cost over $3000 to get a motor.. and it's not even worth that much! So we've been having to share my car. I really don't know how everyone with kids does it! That has also limited me from going to the gym because I have to pick her up from work, take her home and at that point it's after 6pm on some nights and time to cook dinner. But a friend of mine is joining the gym I go to and we are going to start working out next week. I may just let my mom have my car, drop me off in the mornings, walk to the gym and then have my friend take me home. We'll see! :?:

I have pretty much been OP but eating at odd times and not really switching things up so my weight loss has slowed down a lot. I signed the 90lb board on September 27th but since then, I have only lost 4 lbs! Only losing 1lb - 1.5lbs per week but the consultants don't seem to be worried about it. It's getting a little frustrating but I'm hanging in there! I go in for measurements on Friday but can't really tell that I've lost move inches. My bra & pants still feel the same. I hope that hasn't stalled too!

Anyway - I did flip back a few days and saw a new face!! JenB!! You look FANTASTIC!

I actually created a collage of "My Face". So I'm attaching it here.

I will really do my best to try to check in more often. I've missed everyone on here. And, can't promise anything but I'm going to try to catch up on all the threads.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

What a work out! been OP, doing great, got up this am and was down 2.5 lbs on my scales...was like woo hoo, had a meeting before going to MRC for weigh in so ate one boiled egg, tiny bit of water....then weighed in and only 1 lb loss :-( not 2.5. when i got home i took off my pants and weighed in...down 2.5, put them back on and 1.5 more!!!! so disappointing but i do know i'm losing so i tried not to let it bug me. so from now on, i'm keeping a change of light clothes in the car! to change into!

Weighed in at lunch and was officially down 1 pound from last week. I'll take it! 4.5 pounds to go until I hit my wedding weight.

Tami - :bday2you: :celebrate: :bday2: I hope you are having an awesome day!!!!

bigdog - Sisters can be so mean that way! LOL You'll show her! And congrats on your loss today. A loss is a loss in my book. And, I'm with you on wearing light weight clothes at weigh in. I have a set in my car that I wear every time I weigh in so I know that the weight difference is me and not the clothes I happen to be wearing.

Candi - So great to see you around again! I've missed your posts. You are looking incredible. It's amazing to watch your journey. I hope things settle down for you soon.

Bigdog -I hate that! Clothes can really make a difference. I try to wear almost the exact same thing every time. At the risk of being obsessive, I track both my home naked weight on a paper with the center's weight next to it. You can see the trend better when you look week to week at both because clothes and water and time of day can mess it up. I know the center weight Is supposed to be the one that counts, but really it's the overall trend that keeps me motivated.

Patzi
Key point: "when she stopped cheating and fooling herself.". That really took my breath away.

me too, Camaswa...hit home and remotivated me to take this seriously. we have the tools to lose weight, so we can do it!!! journal, be accountable to ourselves, drinking water as i type this!!! i walk every am 40 minutes and am planning on dusting the exercise bike off and riding that this pm while watching tv. i love the recumberant bike - easy to ride, just need to get my bootie on it and pedal!! i think that will step up my loss and tone up too! oh, re: the sage suit...put that on yesterday am and spilled makeup on the skirt! OMG, this is why i wear dark colours..i'm a mess! so haven't worn it yet...LOL

Thank you all for my birthday wishes...it was a great day :)

I lost 1lb at my WI, but I am crystal clear that it is my own fault. Patzi is right about the cheating..staying OP is key.

Eating out simply does not work. Every time I do, it sets me back so far. Sometimes I get frustrated with my counselor, or with the program, and forget that it is "Tami" that is making the choices. I seem to continue to justify myself, and it isn't working in the long run. I want to get this weight off, and know what I need to do to get that done...just need to DO IT. It is hard, ladies....some days are just plain hard.

Big Dog...
My scale at home is 2 1/1 pounds under scale at MRC. I wear the same two pants for weigh in and then take a change for when I get to my business.
I had them weigh a pair of jeans for me, which I thought were not heavy and they were almost 2 pounds on scale.. Congrats on your weight..

Jen...
Congrats to you on your weight loss, and hope you are feeling better.

One thing I can relate to y'all about myself before I started MRC.. I always felt sorry for myself, and was angry when I went out to eat and it was poor me, because I could not eat and drink like others, so off diet I went. If I gained weight I would be angry with myself and reward myself with fattening food and it would spiral out of control. I just could not stop eating . I was doing South Beach Diet and cheating like crazy, and when I gained, would just go wild with crazy eating.. All a mind thing and like I said yesterday I was fooling myself, as I would cheat and my weight kept escalating.. When I joined MRC, I made my mind up this was it and I was going to stay OP.. It is not easy, trust me, but it is the only way you will make it to maintenance. I always told people I was on a special diet, and if they liked it fine, if they did not, oh, well that is their problem.I have never been up front to people about dieting in the past, and it felt good. But one has to stop and think this is about me.. I want to become thin, I want to feel good and look good..You will all make it, but you need to stay OP. No other way will work.. Remember there is this forum and as I said over and over, I would not have made it without it..Also remember don't say to yourself, a little of this won't hurt to eat or drink, well, yes it will , as it is not being OP. It will creep in there as a weight gain.
Hang in there, it will all turn out.. Remember I am the queen of seed.. There are times I took off .2 pounds, which I called a seed, but it all adds up.. I wish you all the best, you can all make it. If I can help anyone at any time, please feel free to ask.

On another note, please post any holiday recipes one might try and recommend.

Thanks Patzi for more words of wisdom :-)
at least i'm losing and i'm very happy about that! i am a former "Weight Watcher" join, lose, lifetime member, gain, join again for 20 years! wow, crazy, huh? but i did meet some great people at the meetings and am still good buddies w/ some of the leaders. i like this food plan better and it works. w/ WW, even OP sometimes i wouldnt see a loss at all and would even gain a couple lbs sometimes during weigh in. when i joined in August, i've only gained one time out of all those weigh ins and it was a pound. Wow, that is a huge accomplishment for me. and survived this program for 10 days on vacation at the beach. i love it! trying new recipes and making up HNS protein drinks has really helped me. i mix the vanilla creme w/ the pink lemonade HNS sometimes and count as my one creamy a day or the vanilla w/ diet orange soda, etc. i love this food plan...it's easy to follow and not too many crazy choices like WW. i had a friend that ate her 22 points using slim fast bars! haha, she wasn't successful in losing at all.
i love the Egg Custard - do you have that recipe? good w/ blueberries for lunch...or strawberries...

Hi everyone. I see some familiar names, but mostly new people. I'm Rocki and I did MRC in 2008. I lost 48 lbs. I was much healthier, felt, and looked great..well..3 years has gone by and I have slowly but surely worked my way back up the scale. I've gained about 30 lbs back and really need to get back on track. I'm thinking of going back to the center on Monday. I really need the accountability. However, I can not afford to buy the supplements and drinks. I have my own drinks and snacks still left over from the many times I bought them (I re-signed several times from 2008-2010). I think I can get 10 weeks for $79 and with the holidays coming up I can earn more weeks for losing over those weekends probably. I'm hoping I can get up to 14-15 weeks and lose 30 lbs again.

What do you all think? What's the average around here? I know everyone is different. But realistically, is 2-3 lbs per week reasonable to expect?

I have to get back to the gym and start eating right. I will try to come in here for support and to give support as well. This group was a HUGE part of my success before. I've struggled over the last year and a half with trying all kinds of different plans again.

**Ignore my ticker..I need to update it. I tried Atkins this year (along with other plans)..

Wow - I'm back 2 days in a row!

Thanks everyone for the compliments! I think when I get frustrated, I'm going to pull up this collage to put myself back into place.

As for the clothes thing at WI. I take a pair of light weight pants and will have to take a tshirt, now that it's below freezing in the mornings. It was actually 27 this morning. Brrrrr! I have a digital food scale and have been known to fold up a pair of pants or top and change the settings from ounces to pounds and weigh them before I put them on and if it's too much, I find something else. I don't own a real scale and refuse to buy one because I know I will become obsessed with it and probably throw myself way off and on the wrong track if I weigh myself everyday. I know I will eventually need to buy one when I hit stabilization.

Patzi made mention of holiday recipes. I would LOVE to know what everyone does for Stuffing on Thanksgiving?!!? And gravy? Still no gravy OP which is going to be hard for me. Easter has really been the only holiday I had to deal with but I can live without Ham. But Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing & gravy? I don't know. I'm getting real nervous about the holiday season. :?:

Haven't checked in at center yet today but had to go see my family doc for an apt today. WI there and down 2lbs from what the center said from last week so I'm hoping that is the same when I get to WI for them. The thing that made my day was the excitement my doc had for me. My hubby told him I was losing weight but he said he had no idea how much. From my heaviest there I've lost about 40lbs he said. I didn't realize I had lost almost 20 on my own before MRC...it was just taking much longer. He was extremely happy which made me feel even better about this. He is helping me get on the bio identical hormones through another doc (I use military for main apts and found another doc off base for bio identical) I am so grateful to have such a wonder doc!

Ok, turkey is on the plan and you can make the pureed cauliflower w/ chicken bouillion - as a substitute for mashed potatoes.. if you don't have the recipe, i'll search for it tonight... they have fat free gravy in a can and i'm sure you can add some turkey to that to add taste.... there's a recipe for deviled eggs in the MRC cookbook..... the stuffing could prob. be made w/ the lite bread?... i used to make pumpkin pie w/ sugar free fat free vanilla pudding mixed w/ canned pumpkin and lite cool whip, nutmeg, cinnamon. i didn't put in crust but served in wine glasses (like a mousse) but i'm sure it's not on this plan but better than the old fashioned Pumpkin Pie. i have to go to a restaurant w/ my in-laws for thanksgiving. and it's a buffet w/ tons of desserts and a chocolate fountain. and mimosas which i usually overindulge in (did i mention dinner is w/ in-laws?) hmmm...may have to do the one bite and leave and fill up on turkey and veggies.....

Jen has posted the new MRC menus and lots of other helpful info that you can copy or she'll email directly to you.(if you don't want to rejoin) i joined in Aug. and am paid up till December. i plan to not rejoin because i get more support, motivation and food tips, etc. from the members on these boards. i go in weekly for weigh ins right now just because i have till Dec. my center is only interested in selling me pills and supplements... (i don't take any of them) i'm sure i'd lose more than 1-3 lbs a week like im doing now prob. if i took them but my doctor told me once i stopped taking them, i'd gain the weight back. so my theory is, lose slow and keep it off!! i do love the plan. each person is different. i will lie to my husband when my paid plan ends in Dec. and tell him i'm still weighing in and paying big bucks ... haha!! he's an Executive Chef and his life is food! right now, i'll say, nope can't eat that...weigh in tomorrow honey! :-)

I had maintenance weigh in today and lost 1/2 pound, making me 5 pounds under goal.

I tried adding in peanut butter again this week, as everytime I did would gain.
I added it to my coffee shake, and no gain, so that is a good thing. I remember a time I would not dare keep a bottle of peanut butter in the house. Funny how , if you work at it, you can have a mind change, and a good positive one.

One thing I did not know. If I drink decafinated iced herbal tea, it is considered my water. I have been drinking lemon water or just plain water, ever day, today I brought decafinated peach iced tea with some fresh mint and some stevia for sweetener.. A good change, for me.

Wishing everyone a great weigh in. Remember, you are all worth it.. Hang in there.

Well - whatever I've been going through the last couple weeks seems to have ended this week! I lost 1lb on Tuesday and today down 2.5 more!!!:carrot:

Today is my 210th day with MRC for a total of 96.5lbs gone and we did measurements... drum roll please... 77 & 3/4 inches gone!! My ribbon is taller than me! I had to do the calculation to see how tall it was and if you know someone that is 6'5" tall... I've lost their height in inches!!! Holy Moly! Really? I'm kind of in awe at this point in time. So I have lost 13 inches in 30 days - which my counselor said that my body was probably playing catch up with my weight loss and that's why my weight stalled a bit but I lost a lot of inches. Not sure if I can squeeze out 3.5 more lbs next week to get to the 100 lb board but I know the first week in November, I will signing it!

I want to thank you all for being there for me and for everyone! I know I've been absent from time to time on here but I think about everyone on here everyday and appreciate everything!

Patzi: Congrats on the loss! Seems like maintenance is working for you or better yet, you are working mainenance! Truely an inspiration and I can't wait to join you.

Nicole: Welcome back! Glad you stopped by to say hi. Hope things are going well for you.

Tami: I think doing this collage kind of put things into perspective for me. Definitely going to make a couple copies and post them in my office, in my closet and maybe even in on the fridge! I have a 10 year gap between 1999 - 2009 so I'm going to try to dig out some pictures and add to the collage.

bigdog: thanks for the tidbits for Thanksgiving. Our Thanksgiving is usually pretty quiet. It's usually just me and my mom because my brother and SIL always go to a huge buffet with her family. So I know I can make things OP and not indulge. My center had a recipe for pumpkin pie - but now I can't find it, so I'm going to have to ask for another copy. Once I get it, I will post it on here.

Rocki: I'm newer to the group but welcome back! Good luck with the program.

Alright - I have to focus and get back to work! Have a great weekend!

GO HOGS! BEAT OLE MISS! WOO PIG SOOIE!

Tami, I agree about eating out- too much is out of your control. I had way too social of a weekend last week and it took me all week just to get back to where I was last Friday morning. In all, I lost .5 this week, which I am having a hard time not feeling bad about. At least no gain, but not good enough for all we have to put into it. I simply can't eat/drink off plan on the weekend and still lose. I think the lower carbs makes you retain water like crazy when you do go off. I did have them do my body composition today and that was good news - of the 11 pounds NO lean muscle loss. I've been concerned about that because that's one of the causes of re-gaining. This weekend I have another big social thing but I am NOT going to eat off plan. Not worth it.

Hi..
Has anyone had a problem accessing this forum? I have tried many times today, but it says error in database, and I hit refresh and nothing until now.I did get on early this morning when I reported my weigh in.

Candy congrats to you on weight loss. I am most interested in the pumpkin pie recipe when you get it.. I have not received any holiday recipes as of yet.

My center has a fashion show tomorrow, and I was asked to participate in it, but with working and all,Saturday is not a day I feel like driving anywhere. Need a veg out day to rest up. They asked me to at least go and have some fun,but I declined this time.

Wishing everyone a wonderful evening..

Way to go, Candi!! woo hoo!!
I'd love to have the pumpkin recipe! i made the MRC cookbook egg custard and the cinnamon cookies tonight. seems like on the weekend when i'm not working, i always want some desserts! so figured they were OP and i could eat them. i need to take the protein bars and cut them in quarters and hide them! with only one 1/4 available at a time! plus keep busy so i'm not thinking about food..... i really want to get rid of a couple more lbs by next weigh in!

I just started this the beginning of October and did pre-conditioning for a week, then started on the program. I've lost 12 pounds already and 19 inches I think. I'm extremely pleased. This forum is very motivational and inspirational.

Candi--your progression of weidght loss in your face was awesome. You need to put that as your new pic on the forum!

Hi !
I am brand new! I just had my free consultation today and am hoping to start the program on Monday... I have an 11am appointment.
I am definitely nervous, but excited at the same time. I need to lose 51lbs.
I know that the preconditioning is pretty rigorous, but it seems that there are a lot of great recipes out there for later on.
My one question is... because some people said "diet"... do we need to use products with a lot of chemicals? I don't like aspertame or artificial sweeteners. Will this be a problem?
Also, anyone doing the program that has children?
How are you able to cook for yourself and your husband and have things for the kids? Do you just make things separate? I believe someone said something about custard with a protein pack. I don't think I should be giving that to my children.
Any thoughts?

It's been a hard couple of weeks. I weighed in on Friday evening, (not a good time) and of course I was up. I knew I would be due to the evening WI compared to my usual AM WI. Anyway, I made them measure me since it had been a while. I'm down 19.5 inches. I was amazed. That made me happy. I need to buckle down and get the last 7 pounds off before Nov. 17th. That is the end of my 17 weeks. I can do it. This time of the year is so hard. There is candy everywhere! How do you all have the will power?

It's been a few days, but I thought I'd check in before heading out on vacation. :) We're heading down to the land of the big mouse (aka Disney World). We're taking the munchkin for her 2nd birthday since she definitely knows who he and his friends are now. ;) We're just going for a few days and then coming home and taking it easy the rest of the week.

Welcome to all the newbies! To all our vets, hang in there!

You are worth this!!!!!

Welcome!

This program does work...but it will be a challenge with a family. I mostly end up cooking 2 meals at dinner time. Mainly because many of the MRC recipes call for an HNS (ie: Tomato Basil...) and that is a high protein supplement necessary for my weightloss, but not necessarily the kiddos. I think the artificial sweetener thing may be an issue for you....the HNS drinks we are required to have, contain it, but also we are encouraged to use splenda in place of sugars...

You know, while parts may be sort of an inconvenience, the program is worth it. My husband eats everything I do....and my kids were never big on fancy meals anyway...so while we have stuffed peppers on program, they have chicken nuggets! LOL We are all happy....There are some things I make that we all have like chicken, fish, salads, etc....

I never cooked the recipes in the book if they contained the products that MRC sells. You can tell center you are allergic to aspertine, and they do have some of the HNS that have splenda and not aspertine, as it creates havoc with me. I can have it on occasion, but prefer not to. My husband eats what I eat,as I do not use the supplements in my meals.. My children are grown,so can't help you there.

Welcome and wish you the best in your challenge..

i have a few reasons....
1. narrow hallway in camper!
2. found that i was hanging over on each side of my beach chair!!!! or would get up and the chair would be lifted a bit! like i was almost stuck
3. "mean" sister's horrible photos of me posted this summer and emailed to everyone
4. was getting hard to get out of bathtub
5. pants were getting shorter
6. could not fit into any of my clothes and the larger size clothes i had to buy, i immediately cut out labels (who was i fooling?)
7. hard to climb up ladder on boat
8. felt like a slug, felt heavy and yucky, no energy
9. comments from cashier - wow, look at all this candy! are you having a birthday party for your kids (hmmmm....i don't have kids)
10. hips, legs and knees hurt after walking....

The HNS (the one required part of the program) ... protein drink you use 3-5 times per day is all artificial sweeteners, etc. You may want to rethink this particular plan if that's a problem for you.

And don't stock up on food for preconditioning ... it's only for a couple days (my center had me do 3 days) and you won't have that many choices with the plan itself (for instance, only 1 fruit per day, 2 40 cal starches and stuff like that).

Pumpkin Pie
1 pkg. vanilla creme pudding
1 slice 40 cal. bread
4 oz yellow squash, peeled, chopped and cooked
1/4 ts. pumpkin pie spice
1 packet splenda
1 egg
2 oz. low fat cottage cheese
3 oz. water
Spray small dish or custard cup with Pam. Place rolled bread in bottom of dish and bake at 350 for 10 min. until slightly browned. Blend remaining ingred. in food processor or blender. Pour over crust and bake for 10-15 min. until solid. Servings 1

lv2ski2004: 3 Fat Chicks

(note from Steph: the veggies with the egg and cottage cheese.... not sure which meal to put this with since technically we're not suppose to have veggies in the morning and we're not suppose to have eggs or cottage cheese at dinner.... and we're not suppose to have bread at lunch... I'll let you be the judge. Maybe it would be good for lunch without the bread)

Hi ladies....

Just checking in..celebrated my birthday in style and very much OFF program for the most part. So, I have just been getting myself right back on. I have my WI on Wednesday this week, so keeping my fingers crossed that not too much damage was done!! LOL

I am enjoying all of the different recipes being shared! Always fun to try new ideas.

When Patzi shared that she made no recipe that required HNS, it made me worry...because all of them I make do require it. It makes me wonder how this is suppose to work when we are taken off all of the supplements? Hmmm...maybe that is why she didn't cook with them. Guess I will have to figure out some subsitutions when that time comes.

A suggestion that you mix sprite zero with an HNS is brilliant! Very yummy!!

I am not all that creative, so these tips are wonderful!

Hang in there, everyone...and welcome to all who are new to the program!

Hi There! Thanks for the info on Diet Direct and Nashua. Who do you get the orange drink from? I couldn't find it on either site. I saw the pink lemonade on the DietDirect site for $26.99. Also, do you every buy the chicken broth/soup clear supplement online in bulk? That's something else I enjoyed when I was doing the plan. I'm going to order some products and get started on my own. I know I can do this with all the support here and the paperwork I already have plus new info posted. Thanks.

i order everything from Diet Direct or Nashua . i buy the pink lemonade in bulk for my clear HNS. and Syntax Nectar orange. i also get the Vanilla Creme protein powder from Walmart. :-)

hi, Rocki, it's on Diet Direct. Syntrax Nectar Natural Orange. it was $38.99 for 34.4 oz. (36 servings) they have more flavors too if you don't get the Natural (Latte, twisted cherry, etc.) and it's cheaper at $34.99. the Orange: one level scoop is 90 cal., protein 23 G, fat 0, sodium 50 mg, Potassium 120 mg, Fiber 0, Sugar 0 - i put it in the blender w/ ice and water and it makes a frothy shake :-) if you mix it w/ vanilla protein powder - it's like a dream cicle! i don't even crave sweets on this diet because i'm always creating new protein shakes that taste like dessert. :-) i was totally a chocaholic and had to have sweets every day so this is a huge accomplishment!

Tami: I don't use HNS in any of my recipes, even if they call for it. I've used no salt added tomato sauce or tomato puree instead of tomato basil. And I found an organic, cage free chicken stock that only has about 200mg of sodium compared to the ones that have 500mg. But for the most part, I don't make casseroles or anything like that. My main reason for not using them is the $$. I would rather spend that money on the HNS that I drink. Hope this helps.

bigdog: Thanks for posting the pumpkin pie recipe. This is the one the center had. And I asked the center about what time of day you could eat this and they said you could have it for dinner. The 2oz. Cottage Cheese is a minimal amount and it's ok to do "on occassion".

As for meals - since my mom moved in, she eats what I eat. She has other things that she adds to her meal but the protein & veggies are usually always the same. I don't have any kids but I know some people have posted on here before that they just make mac & cheese or rice or something extra instead of cooking 2 completely different meals.

I hope everyone is having a good week! I went for WI this morning and was up 1lb. The consultant did a body comp and it was 1lb of water weight. I walked a little over a mile last night and 1/2 of that mile was uphill so my calves were burning. She suggested to not do the uphill every night and especially not the night before a WI.

As I was getting ready to leave, the center manager stopped me and asked if they could put my pictures and bio on their facebook page. Made me feel real good - so of course, I said yes. And they are also going to post my top 10 list on there, too.

Ok - guess I better get back to work! Wish I could hurry up & win the lottery! :D

Had maintenance weigh in today and gained 1/2 pound, no reason. Brings me to 4 1/2 pounds under goal. Did not try anything new this week. Trying to be reasonable with eating as my daughter is coming home next week for 5 days and would rather use it then.

Candi.. Please let me know when your bio is on facebook..You are a great inspiration.

Do not remember who brought this up.
I have been on maintenance since May and I take no supplements, maybe an HNS on occasion, and I have not gained my weight back, so I would not worry about that, and I never used the supplements while cooking now or while I was losing weight. I don't think Candi does either.. I cook regular and just stay with what is on program. So the supplements to make a meal are not necessary all the time, or not at all, really . The choice is yours. If I use the cookbook, I substitute something healthy for the supplement they require, and it comes out great.

Wishing everyone a great weigh in.

I had my first WI of the week today and was down 3.5lbs from last Thrusday. I got to sign the 20 pound board which was my personal goal this month.

I use the no salt tomatoes also and they are great. I use them to make salsa that is OP. Still not as good without the onion but WAY better than no salsa at all. I have also found a no salt broth that is "low" in sodium which I also use in recipes. This is a life style change and I have to have something that I can do while on maintenance and beyond.

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I am happy to hear that the supplements and the HNS are not needed to be successful on the plan. Since I am cooking for the family, I definitely need flexibility.

I am on day 2 of the pre-conditioning. It doesn't seem horrible, but the options are definitley limited.

Is everyone on a 17 week program?

Hi all!

Well... I had my yearly check up with my doctor today. She was thrilled over the weight I have lost....but crystal clear that it is ONLY because of the decrease in calorie consumption on this program, and not because of their pill supplements. I have spent a fortune on supplements recommended, and so this news was a bit disturbing. She did confirm that none of them I am taking will hurt me...just believes they won't do what they claim to do. She was not happy at all that I did the "Saliva Test," either....told me it was a waste of time and money. You can't get an accurate hormone analysis with saliva...blood work is proven more accurate.....good to know.

We did decided that the plus is that MRC holds me accountable. I have menus to follow, WI each week, and one on one consults weekly. This alone helps so much in a weightloss journey for most people....including me! So, I will press on...and likely not buy anymore supplements except for the multi-vitamins and fish oils...both of which doc approves.

She is also having some blood work done to check my kidney function... high protein diets can sometimes affect our kidneys negatively...I may need to cut my HNS back to 3/day from 4/day.

As far as Candi and Patzi and using HNS in our recipes...I think I am going to stop doing that, too. Going forward, we can't have these in every recipe we make, so may as well explore healthy alternatives now. Thank you both for that tip!!

Well, off to my WI tomorrow morning....My doc confirmed that 1-2lbs per week is awesome and healthy weightloss, so not to feel like I need to lose more than that to call it a success:) I just can't believe how gullible I am sometimes....Expensive price to pay for that:(

Hang in there, ladies!

Tami

Your attitude is good Tami ..... take the good part from the center and adapt to meet your personal needs. And it's true ... the calorie restriction of the program will lead to consistent weight loss if you follow the program. I lost 60 pounds in 5 months, I never gave up my diet soda (did cut back), and still used either sugar free vanilla creamer or fat-free 1/2 and 1/2 in my coffee (which I also cut back on). However, I never once, not even a bite, ate foods off program. I also did not take their supplements, but did take a vitamin, fish oil and because I'm older with arthritis, I took MSM and Calcium (all of which I took before I started the program). It worked for me.

Having said that, I got sloppy, cocky and after having kept the weight off nearly two years, gained ALL of the weight back plus more .... but that was my fault, I made bad choices. And I can tell you it is SO MUCH HARDER this time. So for those of you just embarking on this journey, I would encourage you strongly to go through all of the stabilization and maintenance.

Hang in there ... the only time we ever lose this battle is if we give up.

Ok Ladies...
For you that are struggling, here is some news that should perk you up.. Had a customer come in today and told me I looked familiar and decided it was at MRC that she saw me.. I know so many of you have apprehension on maintenance, and I don't want you to as you will do fine, you really will. It is a great place to be and if you do not cheat, stay on program you will be there before you know it..

She has lost 92 pounds and has been on maintenance for two years with no supplements . Does take Fat and Carb Blocker and an occasional HNS if traveling, but other than that, just plain food. She also never cooked with any of the supplements. She pays to be on maintenance, as she needs the accountablility, and she weighs in once a week, and if she gains, she goes back to her green menu, the last menu on the Meta Slim diet, for a week, and weight comes right back off.. Hard to believe she had an additional 92 pounds on her, as she has a fantastic shape. She says she feels great, is off cholesterol meds and hbp meds, and anti depressents. She does not count calories, never has, and refuses to count them on the maintenance menu. She said she knows what she should eat after stabilization, and goes from there..

Thought I would share this with y'all.

(with a choc. pudding supplement instead of the vanilla-- definitely hits the chocolate craving)

1 egg, beaten
1/4 c. oatmeal
1 packet splenda
1 pudding supplement (vanilla or chocolate)
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

mix, drop by spoonfulls onto a cookie sheet, and bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes.

They end up puffy, so they're more like oatmeal puffs, but I always make them for Saturday and Sunday breakfasts when I have a bit more time than during the week. However, they only take about 3 minutes to prep, 10 minutes to bake, and it's nice for a change of pace.

About those snickerdoodles, I assume that is. 1/4 c. Uncooked oatmeal, right? If so, does the whole recipe count as one serving? I have never know how much uncooked oatmeal equals when cooked. The recipe sounds good.

I tried these with oatmeal and didn't like them - told the center and they suggested I use 40 cal. bread (put in food processor and just throw all the other spices/supplements in too) and LOVED them! I usually make 2 batches at a time and put the other batch in the fridge for breakfast the next morning.

I think I remember you from 2 years back, and I too gained a lot back. I'm still down about 17 lbs from my starting MRC weight, but I have 40#s to lose again! I totally agree, it is MUCH harder this time. I hope we both do great. Are you going to the center again??

Hi Rocki, of course I remember you!! I started at the center after they ran a special. They have all new staff, and I have found them to be pushy and not very informed about factual issues....the orientation class almost made me gag with the lies they were telling. It was all I could do to go, but I did for the accountability. With the special you got 18 boxes of the HNS and 6 weeks for $99. After that they were running a re-sign special for $179 for 17 weeks including the saliva test (which I don't believe in doing there). I was still going to sign up for it and just not do the test, and called in to do so.

After telling the receptionist I wanted to extend, she said she would have a consultant call me back. She never did, and I called 3 times! When they finally did the next day, they said the special was over ..... sooooooooooooo, I'm done with them. I still believe in the eating portion of the plan and am following that and journaling, using Nectar, Pure Protein and Walker products for my extra protein. And if I don't feel like using them, I just up my lean protein by 2 oz per serving. I do wish I had the accountability of weighing at the center, and am trying to figure out another alternative for that.

Good luck Rocki .... we both know the plan works if you follow it, so cheers to us!!

that sounds like a good substitute... i tried making the cinnamon cookies out of the MRC cookbook...didn't have the vanilla pudding so just used vanilla protein powder - tasted like blocks of yucky protein!! haha! i've ordered the vanilla pudding stuff so will try this recipe again :-) i need to get some vanilla and almond extract to add more flavor..

this diet does work but i don't care for the center at all and am finding it hard to even go once a week to weigh in. they give me no tips at all and it just seems so fake...if i ever mention i'm at a stand still or ate something i shouldn't they immediately jump on me to sell me supplements - they take my blood pressure every time i go now even though i told them i never had high blood pressure and know that's its normal. but since i'm prepaid till Dec., i'll still force myself to go each week. i had to remind them to measure me, even had to tell them when i lost the first 10 lbs to put me on the bd. oh, well, i'm self motivated and read these posts for motivation.

if you do want accountablilty, have you thought about going to Wt watchers (cheaper) and you could do this food plan but go there to weigh in? i know that sounds crazy but they are very motivating and share good recipes and advice on getting more activity in. or one time i asked my doctor if i could come in her office and have someone weigh me each week so i could be accountable to someone. i never followed up but she said i could do that! :-) i know some people would go to a GNC or somewhere they have a paid scale that you pay a quarter and it prints out a tape w/ your weight on it....

She says she feels great, is off cholesterol meds and hbp meds, and anti depressents. She does not count calories, never has, and refuses to count them on the maintenance menu. She said she knows what she should eat after stabilization, and goes from there..

Thought I would share this with y'all.

Thanks for posting this--it's my goal to get off all those meds, too!

weighed in today and lost 3 more pounds for a total of 20.5 pounds!! i weighed at home first and was 178.5 so tried on 3 "weigh in" outfits before i went to MRC for official weigh in. i had a cotton shirt and the lightest shorts i could find! i have been disappointed the last two times because i had heavier clothes on and didn't reflect much of a loss so was prepared this time! so i'll make sure i leave those "weigh in" clothes in the car. had to rush back and let you guys know! since you have kept me motivated day by day. i couldn't call my friends because none of them know i'm on this diet. i keep pretty private and for the first time told my husband! he's helped alot by grilling lean meats and fixing huge salads. he's in great shape so pretty much eats what i do and adds more carbs, popcorn, dessert (things i can't eat) All good! i thought i would miss those things but i have my protein bars if i crave chocolate or add diet lemon lime soda to my HNS or have a creamy chocolate shake or pudding a day so don't miss desserts....

It seems the centers are so different from place to place. I mean, they all push the supplements, but BigDog's sounds especially bad at the support. Mine is ok, although the girls are all so young and they tell you such stupid things about the supplements. By the way, did you see the 3FC moderator's reply to my post about the Carb/Fat Blocker? Go read it!

I do like the MRC basic diet better than weight watchers. All that points stuff was mind-boggling and my loss was too slow on it to keep me motivated. But obviously thousands of people love it!

Congrats, BigDog, on a good loss!

Congrats Bigdog on the great loss this week. :D Keep up the good work.

I did my second WI of the week and also did measurements. I was up 1.5 lbs. That is not making be very happy. I understand that the scales don't always show what is "really" happening but I wasn't expecting a gain. I commented that I was about 24oz of water short yesterday and the counselor told me that was probably the reason for the gain. The body comp showed an increase of 1.5 lbs in water. So guess I better get to drinking that water. On a better note, I have lost a total of 43 inches. That does make me happy. :) I met my October goal and have lost a total of 20lbs which also makes me happy. I'm just having issues focusing on the positive and not the gain.

Hopefully next week will be full of loss and NO gain.

Hi

I had maintenance weigh in and gained 1/2 pound, so that is 1pound gained for the week. I spoke to the consultant and decided to do the Medi Quick for three days starting tomorrow. Refused to buy the bars and the shakes, as I do not take them. So just bought the vanilla shakes. Center suggested I do the shake morning and afternoon and regular meal at night. Will see how I do on weigh in on Tuesday.. Have no idea why I have gained, but will go over my journal, and find the answer.. One pound leads to two, etc. so I want to be 5 pounds under goal, and now I am 4.

Candi...
I am not on facebook, so I asked my friend to post for me... She sent me your posting and your picture and my goodness, it is something. You should be so proud. You deserve the recognition for sure.

Hi guys!

Oh my gosh - I started in April and I dropped about 15 lbs adn then kind of lazied my way through the summer - staying on plan, and messing up every third or fourth day or so - just enough to keep me at the same weight for the past 6 months. Nice, huh?

I came back to the center - and restarted.

I am on day 5. i am having a fairly good time of it. I got some ketosis stick tester things. I haven't gotten a positive result yet, probably because of the sugar free turtles I thought I could get by with on Day 3. Stupid!

Anywho...I like those snickerdoodles. I make a little cake out of the hot chocolate and unsweetened cocoa and splenda. Its delish!

I TRULY TRULY need support. So please give it when you see this!!!!! :)

Goodluck to all of you.

May we follow our diets to a T, and not do BLT's...(just learned this lil' phrase - Bites Licks and Tastes) I am guilty of BLT-ing so MUCH. Its surprising how difficult it is for me not to... Houston, I think we've found the problem.

Good luck at dinner tonight. And after dinner. My former self would eat a big fat bowl of cereal - preferably shredded wheat - but no more.

Those days are in my behind...and soon, they will beout of my behind and behind me.

just read Suzanne's/3FC comment - very cool! i love this diet and am not hungry between meals...it's perfect for me..i don't even have sugar cravings or hormone issues like i used to (prob becuz i was low sugar/high sugar all the time) WW used to work for me but for the past couple years did not. it was too flexible for me. i did like the WW group meetings and met some great people there over the years. it might just be me (re: the MRC center) i don't care for the one on one meetings - some of the stuff i hear them tell people is such BS..pushing the supplements and their HNSs. im in sales so guess i should understand they are "salespeople" but i don't like to see people get taken advantage of. and maybe me being in sales don't like being sold :-) one good thing though is they kind of leave me alone now and don't push the supplements... BTW, i love Diet Direct. i saw on there this baking protein powder that you can make cookies, etc. with... i got my order today of the Wonderslim products (i got the variety pk of shakes, protein bars and dark chocolate cream pudding/shake) supposed to be same as Protidiet which is same as MRC stuff (16 grams protein) i'll get slammed at work a lot so will eat a protein bar for lunch or for breakfast...
Sorry, i'm Ms. motormouth tonight... congratulations on your loss!!!

i was really bummed when the scales didn't show a loss so made sure (w/ advice from this board) to wear the lightest clothes i could and drank like a half cup of HNS and went in early to weigh in! :-) it is just water weight and that's why you showed a gain so next week you will show a loss! i really had to focus on getting all my water in this week and it worked. i just need to keep it up week by week so i can keep losing. in the past, i'll get comfortable and start sliding back to old ways. not this time!!!

that's great Tamiki..usually i don't tell him because i hate to hear, oh, you can't have this, guess we can't go out and eat...blah blah. he's an executive chef so food is his life! i told my counselor i wasn't going to tell him when i joined and he advised me to. so when i told him, i said, i wasn't going to tell you because you seem to resent the fact that i can't eat some things you fix, etc. that worked! i keep reminding him he can still eat his hot dogs, pizza, popcorn, candy but i am not. he is happy that we fix tacos but i have to double ck he is buying lean ground beef or ground turkey and i tell him he doesn't need to fix my plate! silly boy - seriously i'll have to take half of everything off the plate! but he is very proud of me and knows how happy i am w/ the weight loss. now he brings home salad from the restaurant (no more key lime or chocolate pies) and makes me some homemade greek dressing (lemon juice, garlic, etc.) so all good!

I made the snickerdoodles this am and They are SOOOOOOO Good. just like oatmeal cookies!!!!
made 2 servings.
2 pkgs vanilla creme pudding mix
1 package of wonderslim oatmeal w/ apples (got a sample from Diet Direct) it's 1/2 cup. you can use 1/2 cup old fashioned oatmeal BTW, info for Wonderslim oatmeal (130 cal, protein 12 g, fat 1.5g, carb 19 g, sugar 3g)
2 beaten eggs
1 TB cinnamon or more (if you like cinnamon alot add more!)
mix and drop on cookie pan
bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes. makes about 21 balls (i made them small about 1")
(we are supposed to just have this for breakfast....)

another recipe i had cut and pasted awhile back but havent tried yet is:
Brownie Bites – suggested by SouthernGal08
(2 servings)

Take 2 packets of the Double Chocolate pudding (vanilla creme works great too) and pour into a bowl. Take out one or two spoonfuls of the dry powder and set aside. Mix the pudding with just a little water - enough to make it stick together so that you can shape it with your hands. Roll the dough into bite-sized balls in your hands, then roll into the dry powder you set aside. Yummy!

Sometimes I mix the chocolate pudding for the center, then roll it into a little bit of the vanilla creme dry powder! Very tasty

Bigdog...

I am doing the shake for breakfast& lunch. These shakes really do a job on my stomach.. Must be the artificial sugar.. I never took these unless I was on a plateau,or gained two pounds. However, I was told I could take an HNS in between, but I elect not to . There is so much protein in the shakes, I am going to try and do without HNS. We will know Tuesday whether it worked or not. I could have done the green menu, vs. the shakes, but I feel the shakes work faster, and my daughter and friends are coming in Tuesday, so wanted to be where I should be. If I want to go out and have a glass of wine or whatever, want the 5 pound wiggle room to do it.. Hope this answers your question. Have a nice day.

One two occasions I have done a one-day thing with shakes or creamies only till dinner. I put 3 in a big container with ice then sip on it all day till dinner. The ice melts during the course of the day, which makes it last. I also drink lots of water all day. I don't weigh every day, so I don't exactly know how effective this is, but I have had good losses the next WI both times.

that's great Tamiki..usually i don't tell him because i hate to hear, oh, you can't have this, guess we can't go out and eat...blah blah. he's an executive chef so food is his life! i told my counselor i wasn't going to tell him when i joined and he advised me to. so when i told him, i said, i wasn't going to tell you because you seem to resent the fact that i can't eat some things you fix, etc. that worked! i keep reminding him he can still eat his hot dogs, pizza, popcorn, candy but i am not. he is happy that we fix tacos but i have to double ck he is buying lean ground beef or ground turkey and i tell him he doesn't need to fix my plate! silly boy - seriously i'll have to take half of everything off the plate! but he is very proud of me and knows how happy i am w/ the weight loss. now he brings home salad from the restaurant (no more key lime or chocolate pies) and makes me some homemade greek dressing (lemon juice, garlic, etc.) so all good!
I also hate to tell people. I feel my friends think of me as obsessed and always on a diet. And my husband has seen me go up and down, try, succeed, struggle, regain. I feel ashamed. But every time I tried to lose without telling him, I did not stick with it more than a few weeks. I felt dishonest. This time I explained all my feelings to him. He keeps his mouth shut and lets me control what I eat. I don't serve any of those recipes wit supplements to him, we just eat plainer, simpler food. I have not told anyone else, though, and don't intend to.

Hi ladies! Happy Saturday!!

Well, it is that "candy" time of year again :( Those of us with kids know what a challenge this can be...but I intend to have other things in my mouth at all times....like sugar free candies, gum, etc.... They are used to handing mommy the items they don't like...and I always ate them...NOT this time!

I am really working hard this week at staying stricly OP...I have 12lbs to go until my personal goal is reached, and I want to get there!!

I drove 45 minutes in pretty bad weather for my WI last week...it was our first real snow of the season, and the visibility was not great. Anyway, I lost 1lb...and was a bit frustrated with myself:( Risked my life for confirmation of 1lb!! LOL crazy....

Well, hope you all have a great weekend and a happy Halloween! Stay strong, ladies...:grouphug:

thanks Camaswa and Patzi,
some days i really don't feel like eating real food (get tired of eggs or salad, etc.) :-) so will do the shakes for breakfast or lunch especially on busy work days when i'm slammed. i have protein shake powder and also the chocolate pudding/shake mixes...guess i could use either of those. i get kind of confused w/ what is a meal replacement or a creamy HNS?
thanks for the info! :-)

yeah, people hate when you tell them about a diet. the funny thing is the two people that started on MRC and told me about it have both quit! one lost 10 lbs and one lost 21 lbs. one was on the diet where you take the HCG drops...she has now gained all her weight back and more. she doesn't even mention MRC at all to me and said she joined a gym and would never limit her food again. the other girl who lost 21 lbs when i texted her i lost 3 lbs this week, texted me back that she was pigging out and didn't care if she gained. LOL, not funny but oh, well. so neither of them want to know anythng about my progress so....anyway, my husband is a huge support! and you guys are awesome! i do have people tell me i look great and a few said i've lost weight but they don't know how i'm doing it....

Bigdog (and everyone following along)..I'm ordering my drinks now (going through Amazon b/c no tax and free shipping and had to order other stuff anyway). I'm going to get the Fuzzy Naval and probably the lemonade or fruit punch (not positive yet).. I would love to find the chicken soup for a good price. Still looking for that. They also have a chocolate truffle..have you tried that? Sounds yummy.

My center said the shakes (premixed) count as a meal replacement when you have 2 at once, and as a creamy when you just drink one. It's confusing: would that mean any creamy could count as a meal replacement if you use 2? I dunno. It's hocus pocus anyway. The important thing would be steady protein all day and low carbs. I wouldn't do this very often. But to get a grip, break a stall, or just for a change of pace once in a while, I think it's ok.

i haven't tried Amazon...i'll have to ck their prices. Diet Direct has sales all the time and i get free shipping when i order $49 and i get two free samples. the delivery comes in 2 days! can't believe how fast :-) i like the Wonderslim variety packs of the shakes/puddings and variety pack of protein bars. i'll have to try the Nectar lemonade...the Chocolate Truffle sounds really good but wasn't sure if that would count as a clear or creamy HNS...
For the Chicken soup, could you just use cup of soup or just the bouillon? it wouldn't have the protein but it's very low in calories... or maybe add the bouillon to the packets? to make more and still get the protein?

thanks for the info, very good to know. i asked at the center and my counselor said he didn't know anything about Medi quick -- anyway, he told me to ask the "B" when i asked her, she said if i did that, then she'd have to pull me off the meta-slim green menu and then start me on a whole new diet plan. then started blah blah blahing about cortitrim and other pills, i wanted to say WTF? pardon my french. LOL! so i just come to you guys for info. one time i asked her about the Veggie burgers i saw in the grocery store and she said NO, you are not on the vegetarian diet and do you want to be? i asked them the other day about pumpkin puree and they freaked...said it was 35 cal. wow. we can have squash and i figured it was similar but guess not...anyway, i will stay OP and follow the rules but no pills, no way :-) i would do the Medi quick every once in awhile like if i know i'm going to be on the road ...or if i just happened to go out and eat and had cocktails. (to redeem myself) haha

BigDog..
#1.. Medi quick is part of the diet and can only be done 7 days out of the month. I was on Meta Slim before maintenance and used it.For someone to saythey knew nothing about it,I am surprised that person is working there, and for the counselor to tell you they have to take you off Meta Slim, well, that is not true at all. This is absolutely nonsense.. Medi Quick is not an excuse for overeating,it is for people that are on a stall, basically, or have gained for no reason.

There are three of my friends that are on maintenance, one on Meta Balance and the other two including myself that makes 4 that were on Meta Slim, and our diet was not altered and we all tried Medi Quick one time or another. Maybe you want to tell the center that.

I had my problem with my center, but it was from my constantly being in battle with them, that I refused to take all the stuff they wanted me to take. I only took what I felt was necessary and nothing else.

I am sorry this has happened to you, as you are not being given the correct information and you are paid for the correct information.. Maybe you could complain to the main office, wherever that is. I know some offices are individual, but they have to be governed by a main office.

good grief! I think you should try to find out who the owner of your franchise is and give them an earful. That place sounds like it is full of incompetent idiots. Maybe look through the Better Business Bureau???

Hi all...new to this site. I have my consultation with MRC tomorrow. If I end up doing it, it will be MRC @ home as I live too far from a center. I have a friend who has lost 90 lbs. with MRC and is so inspiring. My career/education is in the exercise science field and I have helped others lose weight/get fit, but I can't seem to do the "lose weight" part of it for myself. I love to exercise and when I have lost weight in the past it was all exercise. Now my body doesn't respond that way. I KNOW what to eat, but haven't been able to change my eating habits consistently. My hope is that if pay someone to keep me accountable, give me a plan, etc, that I will lose the weight...and take control of healthy eating habits for the rest of my life. I keep saying that I WANT to adopt a whole foods/clean eating/healthy eating plan, but have not stuck with it (but have helped others do it). I've been reading through your past threads and it looks like you have a great group going. If I end up signing up for MRC tomorrow I'm going to jump in...so I don't drive my skinny husband crazy talking about it.

the person that told me that also is the manager. maybe they aren't being helpful because i'm not buying anything from them...i paid $400 for 17 weeks and refused to buy anything else... i tried to buy the cookbook from them, they were out of stock. when i'm there, seems like they are out of HNSs that people want...i really want to tell them about Diet Direct! :-) i asked for recipes and they said they will prob. get them in time for their next cooking class... when i go in on Wed., i'll ask them again and see what they say about Medi Quick. it is really strange that they aren't helpful...they seem nice enough when they weigh me and ask how everything is going. i attended one class and that was the food instruction class where the "B" only talked about each flavor of the HNSs and what each pill did. The "B" told me she doesn't diet, but spends over $100 for pills to stay skinny. the other counselor said he can pretty much eat what he wants since he's a guy and has lost his weight already..did say he eats a salad every day for lunch..no variety - either they are the absolute worse counselors or they really do get commission on what they sell so are not making any more money off of me? i hate going in there and see these poor people buying bags and bags of stuff especially all the pills. i do like the HNSs and protein bars (i just buy them in bulk from Diet direct or Nashua) anyway, i hope im not offending anyone....it is a great diet plan and i just happen to have a center that's isn't very helpful. it actually was worth the cost because now i have the right combination of foods that i can live with and lose weight. from what i've seen on these boards is that alot of us are getting the wrong information and thank goodness, we have these posts for info!

you have to mentally separate yourself from the diet and the salespeople selling stuff to keep the diet going and make a living. It's two different things.

The diet is actually incredibly good for us. The food is good and nutritious and our bodies are happy bodies.

The salespeople are greedy sometimes, so you have to be firm, and then let them know that you are aware of what they have and you will let them know when you are ready to try something new or different.

I, personally, can't do this diet without my supplements. The supplements make it exciting for me. I look forward to my semi-frozen chocolate pudding balls and my chicken soup with my salad.

I am excited about the creativity required to eat healthy, not get bored and still lose weight.

It is definitely a huge challenge not to get sucked back in to the rest of our country's way of eating...The American diet sucks. It makes you miserable and puts you in a perpetually dieting/binging situation.

This girl is fighting back. I'm fighting for it and I'll never quit! EVER!

Mrc is the best nutrition/weight loss plan I've ever done. It works the absolute best, but requires a lot of perserverence. Something I have trouble with.

Go get em' today ladies....

you are right, Joy, i love the HNS's also and all the shakes, puddings and the other high protein recipes... what i don't like are all the pills they push (i take my own vitamins: women's multi, fish oil, calcium, B-12 and B-6). i don't feel deprived and i'm not hungry. have lots of energy and am losing fat and gaining muscle. love that! it is the best diet i've been on and i am losing weight every week, slow but steady. i ate way too many carbs before and was sluggish and used to crave more carbs and sugar. i just tune out the stuff re: what i don't need and it's all cool :-)
