I could write a book about all of the funny things my kids have said about my weight loss changes. Today my 5 year old told me that she can tell that I lost weight in my ears! Had to share.
My daughter (10) was the first person to notice my weight loss. She told me I am the most beautiful person she knows, and she thinks I'm beautiful no matter how much weight I have. I lurve that kid! She told me that 2 weeks ago and I'm still flying high from it.
My daughter is now 28 and is my biggest cheerleader, but there are no funny comments like you'd get from a child. Free1 - you must be so proud of the fact that your ears are noticeably smaller! I love the things kids say like that.
And what an insightful 4 year old you have, Freefall - you are a different person - what a great compliment.
And isn't it wonderful that our kids encourage us and accept us and keep us going. When she was 5, my DD ran into the room I was in and said, "You know what? I think you're just the right mom for me." And then turned and ran back to what she had been doing. We still say that to each other. It's a wonderful thing.
Kids of all ages are such great motivators! My kids always compliment me with a "Good Job Mom" everytime I step on the treadmill! Such a good feeling. You deserve a new pair of earrings to show off those svelte lobes
My 11 year old son loves hugging me and telling me how much more hands overlap than the previous time he hugged me. Great reason to get more hugs, right?
Well my kids are becoming very aware between healthy foods and junk food. My 3.5year old asked me for a treat after dinner and I said, ok would you like some cookies and he goes "No mom, that's junk food, I won't be able to walk up the stairs if I eat that. Can I have a pear?" I'm trying really hard not to give my kids food complexes so I watch what I say, but I guess I am being an example and they are recognizing good foods. I'm proud
JamieSue - I love that your 11 yer old son hugs you and notices the difference! What a great kid. So many kids that age are not into hugging mom anymore. You must be doing something right!
InsideMe - you can't teach a better lesson than what your little one has obviously learned from you. We forget that they like fruit as a rule. It's a treat to him and that's fantastic. I love his comment about not being able to walk up the stairs if he ate a cookie. I'm going to use that as my reason for avoiding junk food from now on!
Slimjem - isn't it just great to get encouragement form our kids? It does make the process a little asier.
My 3 year old asks me if I am going to do my "everyday shred exercise" (30 day shed is a Jillian Micheals DVD)
Also he is really good at identifying healthy and not so good for us food. If he asks for something when we are out I will say "hmmmm do you think that is a healthy food?" if he says no I ask him what would be a healthy food and he usually names something that is healthier. He rarely asks for junky food.
However he did tell me "Out of all the foods that are not good for our bodies, chips are my favourite"
