We made it through Week 1 RED TEAM
Way to Go!! (That wasn't so bad, was it?)

Thanks for being patient with me as I get my feet under me as a leader.

Ahhh I remembered first thing this morning that I forgot to come here and post my weight!! Bummer! I will just have to be better about that going forward huh?

So I guess my next WI will be my loss from the start of the challenge to next week? Or do I go put in my weight anyway so I only weigh next week for the one week? I'm confused. :dizzy:

I'm busy busy for the next couple days and am sad I won't make it to the gym (unless I want to go at 10pm!). I'll just have to make a good effort to get in exercise some other way, like walking at lunch or something.

Well teamies, my apologies for missing the first WI. I promise to be better!

HI Red Team
It's good to see that we all did so well. Special congrats to our biggest losers and runnerups. Well I messed up and did not make any of my goals for last week so I decided to do daily goals. Today's goals are half met already, the were to go on the elliptical for 20 minutes, which is done, and to work on my living room to get it ready to paint. I'm fixing old plaster and let myself get lazy about doing it but if I'm going to get it painted before winter I need to get working on it. I just have to think how nice it's going to be when I get done with it.

Everyone have a great week and I'll try to keep updating my goals and progress.

Kudos to everyone who lost this week and to everyone who tried hard but did not lose -- there will be better weeks ahead!

TOM has kicked me in the butt -- an overnight 2.4lb gain to get rid of, plus a bit more for next Sunday...I've got my work cut out for me. I'm on plan so hopefully it will whoosh away in a few days.

WE ARE GOING TO WIN THIS WEEK! LETS DO IT! GO RED TEAM!

I had a fairly good day. Got my rear up promptly at 4:00 this morning and got in a half hour of walking before work. Got in 40 minutes at lunch time.

I did fairly well with my food. I cooked up some boneless skinless chicken on my George Foreman Grill tonight. I have enough to last me for a couple of days.

Have a good Tuesday everyone! We can do this!

Good morning RED TEAM

It's good to see everyone checking in & committed to another week.

This week I'm continuing to look at portion control but also water intake. As the weather cools down, how do you ensure that you drink enough water?
I usually drink hot tea (usually herbal)

Let's make today count!

Good morning everyone. Congrats to all the 'losers' last week.

I had a busy, fun filled weekend celebrating my twins 7th birthday. They had a small celebration Friday in school. Saturday was a small party with a few friends and then Sunday was a larger get together with the family. I'm all partied out.

Today's plan is lots of veggies and water with some commercial exercise during TBL.

I never have a problem with adequate water intake. I keep a bottle by my side at all times and regularly drink between 3-4L a day.

Hi Girls,

Sorry I missed the weigh in. I was just being lazy. I am still struggling to get my eating back under control after several trips in August where I went astray. Yesterday I managed to stay under 1800 calories which is good for me.

Is anyone watching The Biggest Loser? I am intrigued by the ads about the age differences. That could be interesting. I would be rooting for the oldsters like myself!

Have a Healthy Day!

HI Red Team,
I was successful in getting yesterday's goals done so I have 2 more for today andI'm half done with them too. My first goal was to do my WATP dvd workout and I got that done, my next one is to finish the patching in the living room. I got most of that done yesterday, but I still have a few cracks to clean and fill and then it's going to be time to sand and add second coats to some of it.

Terapet- I missed The Biggest Loser last week, but hope to watch tonight. I'm going to do some exercises during the comercials also.

Plans for this weekend is going to the orchard and picking apples and getting some fresh cider. YUM

Everyone have a great week.

I give myself periodic water challenges. Some days I have trouble because I take my dogs hiking and there's only a port-a-potty at the entrance to the park. Ewwe GROSS! So I try not to drink before I take them.

For the rest of the week I am going to challenge myself to meet my daily challenges of 12k steps a day and 12 cups of water a day for wed-sat.

I hope everyone is having a great week! I will start to participate in the treads more after Halloween. I make specialty sized costumes and Sept & Oct. are obviously very busy. My only other priority, other than making sure my kids don't starve, is to LOSE WEIGHT!

Good Evening RED TEAM

This will be short & sweet as I have to prepare treasurer reports for my school council meeting-blech

Sarati- Would love to see some of your costumes

Lisa- Welcome back! Any details about the wedding you want to share?

Peanutt- How'd your 10K go?

Zinkemomx2- Mom to twins! You go!! 7 is such a fun age! My youngest turned 7 in August.

Today was pretty well on plan. Didn't get as much walking in today though, my energy drops to nil at TOM.

The week is flying by.

What is your favourite meal? Breakfast, lunch or dinner?

I love lunchtime right now. I graze throughout the day while I'm working. So I pack so many different things and just nibble away. Lots of fruit. Need to up my veggies and decrease the dairy and I think I'll be set.

Was another great week for the Red team!! lets stick with the program and kick tail again this week!

The wedding was amazing, everything was perfect, the weather was awesome, wasn't hot and humid and it didn't rain!!....I stayed away from the food table, brought my own veggies with me, Drank my Water with MIO in it and that was my food while I was at the reception. Only a few people made comments on my loss but not everyone has seen me at my biggest so I was ok with that. Now NEXT time I see them I better get compliments....hahaha

I had a really good day today. I went to my first TRX class which is strength training and it made my legs and arms so sore. Then tonight I went to spin class so now I am REALLY sore.

I am worried about the rest of the week because it is my boyfriends birthday on Thursday so I am taking him out for dinner and then on Sat I have a friends Bachlorette party so I will be drinking. Im sure the scale will not be kind to me on Sunday but I will make smart choices but I also want to have fun and enjoy myself.

Yesterday I messed up big time. Ugh, I don't even want to talk about it. Normally when I mess up I tend to run away from it all, go into denial and stop trying at all. But not this time. I need to get over this all or nothing mentality I have or else even when I reach goal I'll still have issues. So today is a new day and I'm starting over.

Anyway, I'll catch up with everything else later. I'm off to work now. :)

Monday I got ALL my water in...you know the formula where it is half your weight in pounds, consumed in ounces of water. Wow I think I used a whole roll of TP:rofl: It really does fill you up and I was hardly hungry. I just don't think I can practically do that every day. Maybe once a week is a good goal to start.

Today, ground beef is on sale and I figured it's a good day to make a crockpot full of low carb chili. Wonder if my kids will miss the beans?:chin:

Rated - I totally understand!! My birthday is tomorrow too! hahha We're going out tonight to dinner and I'm gonig to enjoy myself. Just have to get right back on track afterwards! I think the trick may be to go ahead and indulge every now and then, but don't look at it as though the whole day/week/month etc. is ruined. Just that meal. Get right back into it. It's easy for me to get the mentality of "ohh well, I already screwed up, why not just call it a whole free day..".. and I'm going to try to take a new approach and just enjoy that moment and then get back on plan. :)

It's a good kind of hurt! ;) Don't worry about what will come this weekend. If you're deciding to take a couple of days off, then weigh in earlier and let yourself enjoy the celebrations (within reason, as you mentioned making smart choices) without worrying about what the scale will say!

You're absolutely right on. In my opinion, that's the perfect approach to a celebration/holiday/whatever. Make smart choices for the rest of the day (maybe eat a little lighter, work out a little longer, drink more water) and then kick back and enjoy yourself for the one meal. So long as you don't find a reason to make everyday or every week a celebration! ;)

Shan- I am glad to hear you are having success. Can't wait to see you post your weigh in.... biggest loser maybe;)

peanutt - Yeah I am weighing myself earlier for this so that my weekend out doesn't mess up everyone else and prevent us from beating blue! I plan on making semi-smart choices like mixing my alcohol with crystal light or diet pop which is better than getting all the pop calories also. For dinner I am going to enjoy myself but get a side salad instead of a side of fries. I couldn't believe it, I looked up calories for the restaurant and a side of fries was 960 calories! For that many calories it is not worth it I will just steal a few from my boyfriends plate.

Rainbow - So glad you are gung-ho again! Here's to being positive and remembering how good we feel when we are on track.

When we first signed up I was 169 and I don't think I had a chance to change the weight before we actually started the challenge. Not sure if I was supposed to go by the original weight of 169 or the actual weight of 166.6 the week the challenge started. So I either lost 2.1 or gained .3.

ok so i am over the moon proud of myself!! nigel took me out to dinner tonight...to cracker barrel...we are celebrating a 2 month extension on his employment placement!!! 2 months!! i am so thankful!!

i love cracker barrel...normally i would have the large chicken and dumplings, hash brown casserole, fried apples, 2 corn muffins with butter, and sometimes a biscuit with honey...that is about 2250 calories!!!!!! i never even calculated that until tonight. i never knew i was eating so much. that is more calories than i even eat in an entire day!!

tonight...i had the turkey and dressing dinner, no gravy, 1/2 order of the dressing, green beans and pinto beans...1/4 muffin, yes 1/4!!! and no butter!! even we split a pumpkin custard dessert and a coffee with cream...and my total INCLUDING the custard was only 635 calories!!!

making good choices = MAKING MYSELF STRONG!!!

lukesmom...yeah on the loss...way to go!

mel...way to stay OP with all the craziness!!! yeah!!

I've never eaten at a Cracker Barrel. Sounds like that is a good thing.
I'm pleased to report that despite any effort this week I am still able to post a loss. I don't understand how but I'll take it. :)

I gained 2.. :( Glad my weigh in day isn't today because it would be even more. grrr! Will be more on track next week, and am starting the training sessions Monday for 3 days a week (if it doesn't kill me haha)

Thanks for the birthday wishes, mel! It ended up being a rough day. Worked all day, then went to school, then had to spend awhile in the emergency vet clinic w/ my mom's dog (which I lived with for many yrs.. a family dog) and she's not doing too good. She's home now, but not doing the best... :( I just want her to be comfortable. It's very stressful... and I just wish I had time between work and school to visit with her.. won't happen until Sunday. :sigh:

Hope everyone had a better week.

Hi Red Team
I see the red team has been making a lit of good choices this week.
Rainbow Smiles Congrats on your choices, I also went out only to a Chinese buffet, but I hoped I made some good choices too.
Jeanettey- What a great looking elliptical, I love mine even tho it isn't as nice as yours, it's a great workout.
Shan- HI glad your are doing well.

This has been a good week for me, I got my first call to substitute teach and have 4 more days coming up in the next month and will probibly get called for more. I got most of the plastering done in my living room, just need to sand it down and do some slight second fills on the bigger cracks then I can prime and paint. Tomorrow we go th the orchard and pick apples, maybe get some cider too and I want a couple of squashes. And I have menus made out for the next week through Thursday. I've also been making all my exercise goals so I have 4 days of working out since Monday.
I Hope everyone has a great weekend

Hi Red Team
I had a great day today, this morning we went to the apple orchard and picked apples off the tree. I have a bushel of yummy fresh jonathan and yellow delicious apples that will last me into the winter. I also got 3 kinds of squash, fresh apple cider, and some cinnamon flavored honey. All locally grown. This afternoon I took DD's friend home and was able to stop at the cemetary and visit mom. I hadn't been there in a while and it was so beautiful there with the trees starting to change color and the corn about ready to pick (it's a rural family cemetary) Then finished my day by going to evening Mass. It was just a perfect fall day.

Rainbow Smiles- The paint color is called burnished clay, it's a light gray in the blue spectrum, and the trim is going to be pearl white.

I hope everyone has a great weigh in, I'm down 3 lbs this week, I hope I can keep it up, I have a goal to get below 220 by Jan 1st, only 13 lbs to go!

Have a great week

Hi red team, it sounds like everyone is having a great week! Keep it up!

I have stayed the same this week.. since it's not a gain, I'll take it! I just started a new job and although I'll only be working a couple of days a week, I had to do training so I had minimal exercise time. I only got to work out twice! My eating was ok though which is probably why I managed to avoid a gain.

Does anyone have any advice on what to do if you don't like vegetables? I really can't stand most of them! I'm okay with raw carrot, celery, lettuce and cucumber but I really don't like any others. It wouldn't be so bad but I'm starting to get bored! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated :)

Keep up the good work reds!!

Checking in at 210.4 -- that's actually a gain -- for some reason I had this whoosh to 209 last Sunday and an almost immediate gain -- so I actually feel as if the 210 is a loss if that makse sense. I was hanging in the 212-214 range for over a month, so hopefully I'm on my way to a downward trend here. On my way to the grocery store to start the week off right!

I'm sorry red team -- I've had some sodium/water retention issues this week and I'm up 3.6lbs, I thought it would have been gone by today. I can guarantee you it's not from calories and I'll be drinking water and eating asparagus like crazy this week to make sure it's gone again by next week! I hope you guys fared better than I did.

Good luck to everyone with weigh in.

I pulled my huge loss like I said I would. WOOHOO! I don't think I've ever lost so much in one week. I'm working my butt off with this new lifestyle change. I'm feeling great too! I also lost 14 inches on top of the 18.2lbs from this past week.

Now to work on week three. See you all later.

Hi Red Team
Hye Aseret, I saw your post in not likeing vegesand since I'm the master ofhiding veges in food let me give you some hints. First is my famous squash burgers, initially made and given to 2 teen boys when I was short of hamburger. They didn't know the difference. grate or grind a zuccini or other summer squash and mix well with a pound of hamburger. I sometimes throw in an egg for a binder , then make patties and cook like usual, they are so much moister than regular hamburgers and you cannot taste the squash. Next I've put zuccini into about anything, it's great in brownies, carrot cake ( very moist and doesn't need frosting.) You can aso puree any type of vege and add it to soups, gravy, or anything you you would use liquids for. I'm not a big fan of mashed cauliflower, but that's just because I like mine barely cooked, but it is a substitute for potatos, if you want to you could mix 1/2 with potatos to get the potato taste. Also have you tried your veges raw or barely cooked, I don't like my veges cooked too much, I prefer the crunch.

I hope I've given you an idea of things you can do to change the taste of veges, you can also try different spices to hide the tast, like curried veges, or with nutmeg or other strong spice. Just ry something new and you might find veges are your new best friend.

Have a great week.

Shan - How in the world did you lose so much weight? Did you visit the Ranch this week?

10-02-2011, 04:13 PM
Nope didn't go to the ranch. I've been researching a different lifestyle change and although its controversial it was discussed on Dr. Oz. So I'm doing it and 10 days in now and doing phenominal!

Shan84, woah!!! Way to go, wish I could lose that much in a week!

AnonymouslyYours, what kind of puppy did you get? What's his name? I love animals, the effort it takes to care for them is so worth the rewards :)

I missed the weigh in cut off time, so I'll post here. I'm in Pacific time and the cutoff time is Central. I guess I won't make that error again.

my actuals for 9-25-11 thru 10-1-11 are:
Weight loss = 2 lbs. (Current Wt. 202)
Walking = 33 mile
_________________________________________
I only weigh once a week and I was a bit lame brained this morning when I weighed in. I mistakenly thought I weighed as 202 last week instead of 204. I spent most of the day thinking that I wouldn't be reporting any loss this week (until I copied my record from last week for this posting) What a relief! But perhaps it was a good thing, because it really made me evaluate areas for improvement.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

* Mileage goal was 25 - got in 33

* I'm making my best attempt to get my munch on with cucumbers, carrots & salsa

CHALLENGES TO WORK ON

* Need to move adequate sleep and wake up time compliance to the top of my list

* Still struggling with anxiety, sleep, energy and appetite taming.

* Still taming the Munchies and better food accountability. Need to limit Pop Chips and popcorn as snacks this week
* Drink More Water
* Better compliance with meal timing.
