Good morning from damp but warmish (70º) Delta, home of Jazz the wee black dog who has managed to pick up a smell of skunk again!
Once again, Donna has canceled her cleaning day and rescheduled for tomorrow. I have Book Club here tomorrow night and will have to bar her from the kitchen cleaning while I get the food ready. I hope things settle down for her soon - sick grandchild - and we can re-establish a regular routine. Knowing she's coming every week keeps me from allowing my house to look like the set of Hoarders!
I have Naked Ladies in my front garden! I always forget about them but they manage to sneak up in full bloom and surprise me. They were very expensive bulbs but have multiplied a lot over the years. Funny that they pop up on the first official day of fall.
The usual odds and ends of accounting to do this morning. I need to get a report signed off for mailing and go to yet another bank with a deposit. I plan to treat myself tonight by watching Grey's Anatomy but it's a two hour show. Someday I'll figure out how to record it - once I figure out what I need to buy and connect. Yet another remote, I suppose.
Have a happy and productive Thursday but come and chat a bit first.
Jake said he'd enjoy seeing some Naked Ladies in our front garden.
I hope Donna's little grandbaby gets well so she'll be able to spiff up your house in time for the Book Club tomorrow, Ruth!
It's wet, but warm here on the first day of Fall, too. I've had about enough of this rainy weather! I do enjoy this time of year, but I dread what comes after.
I plan to spend my day figuring what I want to go in the new closets, and getting them organized. It's a small luxury to have so much storage space, finally! ALL the construction should be DONE by early next week. Woohoo! But I think I'm going to miss the guys; I've gotten used to having them around.
Good morning from damp and dreary, but warmish, Vermont It's always nice to get home even if there's a huge list of things to do waiting for me.
Ruth - I will have to tell my Mom about that. She has those but just calls them fall crocus. What is this month's book?
Cottage - Happy organizing
It looks like we have several days of rainy weather ahead, so lots of inside work to do. I'm off to recycling and the farm stand first, then the usual house stuff and decluttering project. It's also CSA day. I always look forward to that. We signed up for a new winter CSA this year. I'm so happy to have a continued source of good local eggs and produce through the winter.
Guess I should get that list going. Happy Thursday
Good Morning, Ruth! I had to follow your 'naked lady' link. We need a flower called 'cabana boy' to pop up in our yards.
It's going to be a food-porny couple of days for me. The Executive Director of my Child Advocacy Center is retiring after 15 years. Tonight we are having a staff party involving lots of Italian food. Tomorrow, we are having a reception for the community involving cake. There are three trays of chicken tetrazzini in my fridge for tonight and a beautiful lemon pound cake on my counter for tomorrow. TwynnB told me to eat LOTS of fiber today. Maybe a can of beans for lunch? Of course, if I'm a crying fool for the next two days, the eating won't be as much of an issue.
Cyndi, we are reading "The Jade Peony", a re-read for me. Just finished "The Bishop's Man" which I loved, mainly because it took place on Cape Breton. We will discuss it this Friday. I am considering serving salt cod and dulse just to set the mood!
Chelby, I'm salivating just reading about Italian food and pound cake! Be strong! Yup, cabana boys would fit in well with the Naked Ladies.
Cottage, I'm sure the new closets will fill quickly. If there's any extra room, I'll contribute bins of fabric for you!
Just came in from taking out the trash and am slightly damp. Another coffee will help.
We made great headway on our project yesterday which continues as soon as we can see without using headlamps. It's dry (thank goodness) but cool. Not much else to report and I'm on the run to get yesterday's kitchen mess picked up so I can make another mess today.
Just had the last of my boys head out the door. Finishing my SBD breakfast!! And I'm heading to the gym to clear my mind!
My husband had a VTC yesterday that was suppose to start at 4- but his boss- the 3 star was late - 6 pm... So my husband got home at 8:30 last night- another 16 hour day for him... So no dinner out for us.. I even threw sone curlers in my hair.. Oh well it's Thursday I had made the boys mac n cheese and hot dogs.. I stayed on plan.. Cottage cheese, shrimp, celery... And sF Popsicle
Have a great day peeps! Can't wait to be a south beach babe
I am sad this morning, found out that the oldest son of a friend of ours died. I don't know all of the details but he was only a couple of years older than my son, so at most 21 years old.
My name is Anna and I'm *kinda* new. Been on SBD (and in the forums) before and had some success. Looking to make a lasting commitment this time. Gearing up for a 10/1 start and I'm so excited!
Hope everyone has a great day and I look forward to getting to know everyone here!

That is all....
Sorry to hear about the loss of your sons friend. Life is very precious ~ and so it goes to say that we should always cherish our time with our friends and loved ones.
Grrrrr! This is a pretty minor problem compared to the sadness I read above but ... Donna called just after I posted to say she would be here this afternoon. I just heard from her. She is just back from getting her car fixed and will now be here tomorrow. Grrrr! ** Sigh **
Today is okay for me, still nervous about my upcoming surgery tomorrow. It's a minor, same-day procedure but anytime I go under general anesthesia I get worried. I have a lot of support from a lot of people and that really helps. My friend will be waiting for me and my other friend will be driving me home. One thing at a time.
Thanks for being there for me SBD chickies, you are all great! I love this site and these forums I hope you all have a great day.
Welcome, Anna... I'm new too. On day 4 of phase 1 and me and df are loving it so far. Had success with it 5 years ago and now it's even easier!
Sorry to hear of your loss Pearl and good luck with the surgery Amy
Day 4 here and df and I are doing great! This really isn't that hard once you get the hang of it. I def need to incorporate more veggies and beans, but, so far, so good. I even ate cauliflower last night, of course it had cheese all on it, but, that's ok!
Keep it going girls, we are all doing great!
