Good Morning:sunny:

I'm still dealing with a mini cold, but nothing show stopping. It's travel day and I've had my 6 hours of rest. :cp: We'll leave within the hour and be over in time to enjoy our Saturday. Farmers Market, pool, a bike ride and, of course a healthy day with food. I'm doing great on my P1 reboot, starting day 4.

What's up in your world? Stop by and say hi :cofdate:

Have a great day everyone!

Debbie, "rest" or "sleep"? I hope it's the latter. There's an article in the current issue of Macleans, Canadian newsmag, that says we need 7-8 hours for weightloss. That's a dream for lots of us, I think although I got 7 last night.

The poetry reading went well and there were lots of people - more than 20 is a lot for a poetry reading! Anders Carson (http://www.flickr.com/photos/freeminer/223920721/) is a fun guy but also a serious poet. He and I have been friends for years. Everyone who came was astonished to see the interior of the old Town Hall building building which looked pretty good without the exhibits despite needing major repair. It was a cold night and we served lots of hot chocolate which was much appreciated.

Busy day ahead with Open Doors at the Mill and the Church, the Turkey Fair parade where I represent Delta - not dressed as a turkey! - and then Barb's Birthday Fish Fry in her yard. I'll bundle up for that one since it's getting cold at night - 32º right now but the sun is rising.

Time to crank up this busy day. I hope your Saturday is delightful, fun and restful. Two out of three won't be bad for me. :cofdate:

Good Morning, Debbie! I visited our little farmer's stand yesterday and got cantaloupe and zucchini. I love local farmers. :)

Hubby's phone died that slow, loud death starting about 4:00 this morning. He got up around 5:30 to charge it up. I'll take any excuse for an afternoon nap. Not a lot planned for the weekend. I have to make a trip to Sam's Club -- Yay! Hubby and Auston are going fishing tonight, so I'll have a few hours without college football. Yay again! :)

I did some research on the Green Monster. I have a Kitchen Aid food processor. Do you think that will mix it up? I have a blender somewhere...

Good morning. Another chilly one here. We broke down and turned on the heat the night before last. Allergies are bad or I'm getting a cold; I'm guessing allergies.

Big day yesterday...while going through my closet to see what pants fit, found a box of "fat" pants and for the first time in all my yo-yo years am going to get rid of them all! Unfortunately my middle-age spread is here to stay and I am also getting rid of "skinny" pants that fit everywhere but the waist. I went shopping and got 4 new pairs of pants. I love stretch denim!!

Dinner out tonight. I think I'll need to pump up with some caffeine so I don't fall asleep on our friends. And this morning the battery backup for my computer was making noises. It has apparently died. But the good news is that maybe, just maybe, that's what has been causing my computer to act wonky.

Hope you have a great weekend, everyone.

Ruth, it's a super deep no one can wake me up kind of sleep. It's probably why I go on 6 hours. 7-8 hours does not happen in my world. Have fun today! I was glad to read you are not dressing as a Turkey! Brr!! 32 degrees! It's happening fast!

Chelby, I recall you bought a vita mix at the flea market several years ago...I was jealous. Did you sell it? Dunno on the Kitchen Aid. Get that nap in and hope you find something fun at Sams.

Karen, :cp: You rock! Cleaning out those clothes! I love stretch denim, too. Where are you going for dinner?

So my phone rings at 5:30am and we've just unpacked the car...it's my mom...I'm thinking, uh oh...what's happened. She wanted to know what the ambulance was doing outside my house last night. Dunno?? I went to bed at 7. So she says, ok, well I knew I could call you early since you're getting ready to go. I say, I'm already in Glenwood. No, she says, no you're not. Yes I am. I smiled.

Good morning :coffee2: I've been awake since 5  but focused on coffee. Why did I not realize until this week that I could make chai coffee? I'm in heaven - really good chai spices used with coffee instead of black tea. I bought the chai for smoothies but more is being used in coffee right now. What a perfect cool fall morning beverage.

Debbie - congratulations on your P1 success. Happy and safe travels today

Ruth - it certainly seems like turkey dress would be appropriate...

Chel - enjoy your football free quiet time!

Karen - This whole middle age thing is a challenge. Congratulations for finally letting those "fat" clothes go! Doesn't it feel great to decide you won't need them again?

I'm off to my parents tomorrow but the usual long list today. When do I get that down time I was looking forward to?? I've got a kitchen full of basil picked ahead of the potential frost, some greens to dry, lots of the usual cleaning and laundry and food prep for the week. All that and DW would like me to not bother her please. She is getting her classes all prepped so they will run well while she is out of commission for surgery (10/17) - at least one week off line and 3-4 at home. It will be hardest for the onsite class. I'll be stuck in Boston for the time she is in the hospital. If anyone has any great tips for WiFi available spots to hang out or fun things to do please pass them on. I promised her I wouldn't sit around the hospital staring at her 8 hours a day ;)

Okay, a new cup of chai coffee in hand and time to get cracking.

Debbie, I still have the vitamix. Jeff bought it off Ebay. It's an old model and it didn't have a book with it. I've managed to make mush with it and that's all. :/

Cyndi, I was in Boston YEARS ago. I visited a place called Local's Seafood. I told the waiter that I had never been in Boston, and asked what I needed to eat. Several people around my table said, "Clam Chowdah and Labstah Roll!" It was the most delightful lunch -- the food and the company. :)

Good morning everyone! The scale keeps heading in the right direction for me, I'm excited about that.

On the agenda today: farmer's market, dog park while gf cleans house, then relax, and maybe hit the movies tonight. Making the Moroccan Tagine for dinner tonight, looking forward to that, as well as enjoying a honeycrisp apple with sf caramel sauce at some point for a snack.

Have a great day everyone! Sorry, no time for shoutouts.

Angie, I love "dog park while gf cleans house". Now that's a great agreement! I haven't tried the Moroccan Tagine yet. I sure sounds good.

Cyndi, how long is Julie in the hospital? BillBlueEyes seems to know all the hot spots. He mentioned a great Vegan restaurant this morning.

Chelby, I'm sure the vita mix is your ticket to green smoothies. The smoothies need a little bit of water to move out of the "mush" stage. I'm sure you could get a manual online, but I'd be happy to chat with you about it. PM me.

09-17-2011, 09:49 AM
Is this where I admit I've never opened the manual :o that's how I cook too - just keep adding things until it it what I want.

Chel - DD took me to Legal Seafood one year for my birthday. Soooo good :)

Debbie - 3-4 days best case, longer if the myasthenia acts up. I'm probably going to stay at DD's though I'd kind of rather stay at a hotel just so I have space of my own. Then 3-4 weeks at home for her, no lifting, driving, etc. My plan is to get the big front room as user friendly as possible so she isn't even tempted to do something she isn't supposed to do.

Debbie - Here's the menu link (http://thewestsidelocal.com/menu/). I'm planning on the quinoa; it gets great reviews online. We have a coupon deal:)

Cyndi - Yes it feels really good. In the past I was too scared to let go. This time I am not leaving any options to regain.

Chelby - Might that have been "Legal's" Seafood? I try to get there for lobster roll EVERY time I go back east. I grew up outside Boston.

Good morning!
Life has settled as much as it's going to settle I think, so I'm planning to dust off my netbook and get back to regular posting here and at my teacher sites.

I am wearing a fleece jacket and have a quilt over my lap as I type. Our furnace is 'dead' and the replacement hasn't arrived yet. Fergie picked our garden clean last night and it's a good thing he did, it was 31 when I got up this morning and the grass was crusty with frost. I'm sorry to see the end of our tomato plants but hopeful that the frost will take care of the nasty ragweed that's been making me miserable!

Enjoy your Saturday!

Karen and Cyndi, It probably was Legal's Seafood. It was at least 10 years ago! Even if I don't have the name right, I remember the food and fun conversation well. ;)

Debbie, I'll try the vitamix again. If it doesn't work, I'll let you know. Thank you! :)

Afternoon all!

I am such a mess this afternoon. I went to bed at 10p (and those who know me know that's EARLY) and got up at 11a!!! To ants nonetheless.

But I made breakfast and soon DW and I are going to go out to explore the area and pick up some much needed apartment items and tomorrow it will be the final unpack and a clean-up. We're feeling like this isn't home yet so hopefully that won't be the case after this weekend.

Lexx - Feel better and get some rest!
Ruth - hope it warmed up!
Chelby - I need to find a local farmers stand too. Sounds like you scored!
Waisting - :carrot: Yay for getting rid of them for good!
Cyn - no surgery allowed ON MY BIRTHDAY!! ;) Have a good one.
SMG, Des and Heidi - have a good day!

Debbie - it is a fantastic arrangement, as I have much more patience at the dog park with the dogs and Chessa is a VERY fast cleaner!

Karen - WAY TO GO!!! About 6 months ago I got rid of my SKINNY stuff and now am kicking myself because I'm finally losing the weight I gained and would have had lots to lose into. I think getting rid of the bigger clothes is a fantastic idea.

Alas, we got lazy today and are waiting until tomorrow to do the dog park/house cleaning combo. Today has been farmer's market, shopping for some fall clothes, and being utterly lazy! We've been streaming Mad Men on our TV and just finished up season 3 today. Any watchers out there? Lunch was a thrown together salad of hard boiled eggs, cheese, black beans and tomatoes over greens with a cider vinaigrette; it was surprisingly tasty! But I'm hungry for a snack, so off I go.

Happy Weekend, Everyone!

I'm enjoying a quiet day after a lot of craziness with the flooding we got last week. Didn't effect our home but threw things out of kilter (no school, hard to get places, etc.). I helped out some where I could, but spent most of the time with my DD while my H helped the in-laws, etc. Today has been so relaxing, I even got in a 2 hour nap! No plans tomorrow except a yoga class. :)

Good morning :coffee2: I am so excited that I slept later than 5, especially because I was reading until 11:30. Would have been a loooong day. I am off to see my parents for a few days. I was supposed to go last week but Mom subbed every day so today is the day. Apparently Dad found a butterfly conservatory he wants to go to and Mom, well she wants to hit the thrift stores :) I got most of my list finished yesterday but still have about 30 jars to vacuum seal before I leave.

Chel - I'm just glad you had something local and yummy, whatever restaurant it was :) DD and I always laugh when we go to the MA coast and see people at these little divey local places ordering shrimp, scallops and other non-local seafood. Nothing wrong with that but why bother finding the little local place for that :dizzy: Don't know that we will get out to eat while I'm there this time but we had a couple of yummy meals from Bob Lobster last week. Gotta love hole in the wall fresh seafood.

Heidi - It's so nice to see you around here again. Cold here too. Have you had a frost yet? I am so not ready for it to be that cold. How is the class this year?

Jenn

Angie - DW loves Mad Men. I haven't seen it yet.

Debbie - 3-4 days if the MG doesn't flare up, then 3-4 weeks at home. I did think of Bill, thanks!

Karen - Love the lobster! When we were at the coast DD and I discovered that our fave place sold lobster meat in containers. We made our own salads at home and topped them with lobster. Much better than the unimpressive lobster salads from the take out place.

Okay, time to get moving. Sadly those jars won't seal themselves :) Happy Sunday friends

I have you beat, Cyndi. I slept until 7. Being outside in the cold, damp weather all day yesterday made for a great sleep! :)

We had a nice time at the shore, although it was cold and overcast, and the rain finally chased us off the beach at lunchtime. We spent the rest of the day in town, browsing through the shops, and enjoyed a nice supper on the dock at the Lobster House before heading home.

Today is the usual grocery run for milk and salad makings for the week and a visit with my parents, and I'm expecting the kids and Grands will be here as usual for Sunday dinner. I'm thinking meatloaf muffins and twice-baked potatoes for them, but I haven't decided what I'm making for myself yet. We should probably get started on closing the pool for the season and cleaning up the garden, too. My tomatoes are doing anything productive, so I may as well pull them up.

Good morning friends!

Cyndi, thanks, it feels good to be back. And it's fun (and impressive) to check out the changes in some of the tickers over the summer - Ruth and Debbie's new numbers jumped out at me! Nice work ladies! :woohoo:

I have a great class this year - 17 terrific kids and some great family support. The budget crush ended the at risk program I was teaching so I've got a regular kindergarten group again. The other program was so good for the kids, and I hate that it's gone, but I'm loving teaching a traditional k group again! I'd almost forgotten how much easier it is to get routines and procedures in place and how much letter and number knowledge they come to school with. And their parents want to be involved! The change could not have come at a better time for me.

All the talk about lobster has me drooling. We love it but Fergie has to avoid it now and I try to be a good wife and only indulge when we're not together. Sadly, we're together a lot! I've got a can of frozen lobster meat that my dad brought us as a gift not long before he died. I need to use it (and enjoy it) before it gets too old to use but it's the last gift he gave me and I've got this dumb head thing about using it. I like seeing it on the door of the freezer. I wonder how dumb it would be to keep the empty can in the freezer? :^:

I need to go hit the hula hoop before I shower for church. Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

It's great to have you back posting with us again, Heidi.. And I think it's a great idea to use the lobster, but keep the empty can. Your Dad would want you to enjoy it.

Ruthxxx
09-18-2011, 08:13 AM
I'm drooling over lobster too but think I'll hold out until I get to New Brunswick next month for my cooking course.

Yesterday went well although I did feel cruddy most of the day. I went to the fish fry down at the creek and it certainly was cold. I had a scarf and gloves with me along with a warm coat and an old quilt! The food was fine although rather salty and we broke up after the sun set. Barb's house is very small and certainly could not hold 40 people.

Slept too late to make it to Church today ;) so am going to soak in a hot tub for a while and then plan (and maybe even do) some things to make the coming hectic week a bit easier. I may change my phone message to "No! I can't do that. Don't be silly!"

Happy :sunny:Day, Beachies!

Good morning,

Wow, everyone is sleeping later today must be the cooler weather :) I woke up earlier than I normally do but I did go to bed at normal time so I got more sleep than normal.

Cyndi- Have fun with your parents

Cottage- Have fun with all of your company today

Heidi- sounds like you have a great class of kids this year. I would keep the empty can in the freezer.

Ruth- enjoy the Hot Tub.

Yesterday was busy day- DD1 had soccer game then went running around doing errands with all three kids- DS actually came along. Then back home and had to do house cleaning and laundry.

Today is church and ? not sure yet what we will do. I lost 1 lb so I am happy with that, now as long as it continues a down trend I will be good with that. This week, I am going to start tracking my calories as well.

Have a great day everyone.

Desiree - Wow, sounds busy there. Welcome to day 13.

Heidi - Hi!! I've been hoping you'd check in; wondered how you were. Ragweed is killing me too. Mostly my eyes and makes me sleepy.

Jenn - Hope you are all settled in now. I thought of you the other day when my DH was gone and I had to kill a HUGE spider myself! Aren't you the one who doesn't like them? And, there was a bit of squealing involved. On my part.

Over the fence - That flooding looked horrible. Where about are you? I grew up outside Boston and my son goes to college in eastern PA.

Cyndi - When DH and I went to Bar Harbor a few years ago, I had lobster rolls 5 times! Enjoy your visit with the folks.

Linda - So much talk about lobster lately; makes me miss the east coast.

Ruth - Hope you are feeling better today.

Rose - Yeah for moving in the right direction! I track now and then too when I think it will help.

So, dinner out last night went well. Since I am pretty much in maintenance, I did allow myself a moderate indulgence. Food porn ahead: amazingly tasty appetizer was fig stuffed with goat cheese on prosciutto; I had quinoa with veggies for my entree and saved half for today, no bread, no drinks, shared my husbands (very off plan) dessert. No regrets today.

What is really progress for me is that I did not cheat in anticipation of dinner and am right back on track. Too often I really struggle with social eating and the days leading up to and after.

Today starts our experiment for DH to go gluten-free for 2 weeks. I've got dinners planned and helped him come up with ideas for lunches, breakfasts, snacks. It's much harder than just SB compliant.

Good Morning, everyone!

I, for one, was up late and did not sleep in as late as I would have liked. Will try to sneak in a nap but our day is pretty busy since we ended up accomplishing nothing yesterday!

Last night we ended up watching Philadelphia, which I had never seen. Wow. What a tear-jearker that was. Today is church, then brunch with friends, then cleaning/dog park (although it's raining so dog park is questionable), then having a friend over tonight for some games.

Cyndi-have a fantastic time at your mom and dad's! Thrifting sounds like so much fun right now. Mad Men really is a pretty incredible show. I've become very connected to the characters.

Cottage - I made a recipe for "twice baked" cauliflower that was delicious! Could be a nice side to the twice baked potatoes. Or not, just made me think of them when I read your post :) Have a fun family day.

Hi Ruth! Have a fun morning planning and relaxing.

Heidi - nice to meet you, I'm new around here.

Pearl - Way to go on the one pound!! :D

Off to drink my cup of coffee and watch CBS Sunday Morning...just heard my coffee pot beep that it's all ready for me! Have a great day everyone.

We shared a chocolate cake with some sore of caramelized bananas and a bit of something peanut buttery. It actually did not taste as good as it sounded, and was not as good as the meal itself. Of course that didn't stop me from eating some:(

Jeff has ribs on the grill. I'm making cucumber salad and 3 bean salad as sides. It's a beautiful, fall day in Alabama.

Hello ALL- well Ive been a BAD BAD GIRL! I had a little get together at my house last evening... and what i didnt mention earlier was that I was making homemade cupcakes and frosting... I did make the chili though... with 5 beans and that was loved by all... but I caved and had one of my cupcakes with frosting and to make things worse... I had not one but 3 martini's-- **** if I was going down- I was going to make the most of it! so 12 days down... under the belt and such is life... I had a great time! So I started the P1 again today and Im staying on it. We have a wedding to attend on the 8th of OCT. I will probably take a break that day too and then resume-- we have a ball on the 22nd of October and I really want to look fabulous. The good news is that a friend of mine last night said I looked like I've lost weight... if all goes well this next month I may get brave and take a family picture for our christmas card this year--.
ok- my mac died on me yesterday too- im on my sons pc... I will post the recipe to my chili in the recipe section sometime tomorrow-- ive made it for big crowds in the past and nothing better than cool air-- fall and chili -- cupcakes too-- but not for awhile :)
