Angie I am truly sorry about your gain, but I'm sure you didn't eat a bunch of stuff you know you shouldn't have, so it has got to be sodium. Hoping for a great weigh in tomorrow. :hug: I had on long sleeves this morning, then I had to work the school store so I changed to my school shirt which is short sleeve but I had my jacket. It is down right cold tonight though. It's supposed to be 70 next Wednesday so I guess long sleeves and jackets are in until then :) It does take time to adjust when there is a sudden change in temperature even though it was in the forecast ;D Angie this is so true ---> nobody is timing me (but me) which often makes it feel like we're torturing ourselves, but it's all in our heads. :) Those times work for me also. Someone has to get the ball rolling :D :crossed: for great weigh ins on Monday for all :hug: I saw that our numbers were the same, confession, I hate when that happens on here. In my head I think wow I gained what she lost or vice versa, silly I know since I have no control, but it just seems so strange :hug: I find with buffets ... eat a hearty salad first with your own dressing (my daughter hates when I pull that bottle out of my purse) but she's skinny I am two of her. Hope she never has to say, Mom now I realize why you use to do that :)

Aimee that's what friends are for :hug: I'm here always :) hopefully Josh will get a transfer and move with the position that he wants, so no break in anything especially your relationship. Jami, :lol: not counting :D I think I am learning that if my sodium is low I can pretty much work things out, I am also learning that the protein does keep me full but not as longs as I would like. Also since I have obviously never listened to anyone here that has said carbs and sugar will set you up to want more. I am now realizing that. I have a family cook out this week end and I am hoping to not screw up, but boy can my in-laws cook. So tomorrow will be my test. I am gonna have a smoothie for breakfast and another for lunch so by the time we get there I should be comfortable and not want to eat everything :crossed:

Jess I thought that manual was just to set it for the incline and speed that I want right now. I do increase and decrease on my adventurous days, trying to catch up to Coondocks and Vixsin :D Haven't got there yet ;) I'll have to give it a trial run this weekend hopefully with the C25K. Yeah I had to use the red pull thing once this summer, got a cramp and thought I was about to slam into the wall. Then the ladies here told me about potassium so no more ;) Enjoy your Italian meal :)

Rennie -- Actually if it had just been the food it wouldn't have been SO bad, it was a field greens salad, big steak, a baked potato at lunch (okay, not too bad) but at dinner I wasn't even hungry and I ate 5-6 chicken wings and some nachos that were on the table to share (bad) and than all those drinks (worse!). Still, I had a great time and I only regret the gain, not the fun day I had with my team at work.

It was my last day in that office, and I'd been there for 9 years. Today two of the girls on my team sent me flowers at home with a very nice note. They are so sweet it made me all teary eyed.

Aw Angie, :hug: well I would feel exactly the same as you do, happy about the time and sad about the scale. How long does the gain last from drinking? I would think you would just pee it all out. It's not like beer that has yeast and causes blot, right. I haven't drank in forever. Wow Angie your numbers are great. Can you add up what you did yesterday? and hopefully see that it was mostly sodium so you should expect a whoosh tomorrow :)

Jess -- I am definitely going to give it a try. I LOVE mayo and it's one of the few things I won't trade off just to save a couple hundred calories. I'm going to buy some tomorrow and I'll report back! ;)

Jami - staying on plan during a plateau takes a lot of strength, I'm impressed! I am hoping I'll be able to channel the same thing when I hit the 250's - which are always hard for me and I end up quitting, but no more! :) I can second the Olive Oil mayo, I actually even liked their half the fat version too!

pgh - sounds like we might have a little support group starting here for C25K! How was your Italian? I worked late last night, and early today, sucks, but makes for a good on plan day!

I'm so glad to have you guys keeping me on track with the new threads!!! LOL

I'm up .2 to 186.8 today. I went to bed on time but my sleep was restless last night. I have an assignment due for school that I really haven't started so that is bothering me.

Thank you for the well wishes for my little man. He has allergies and when the seasons really start to change, he ends up with a cough. I'm jamming meds in him like it's going out of style. LOL :crossed: Hoping that it doesn't turn into a sinus infection like it usually does.

I've had about 350 cals so far this morning. I had a pb and jelly sandwich for breaky today. That sandwich is NOT going to be enough!!! I'll add another 250 to it if I need to in a little while by having a greek yogurt with some multigrain cheerios in it. that should take me until lunch.

So today is full of a little bit of everything. LOL I had a flat repaired yesterday and I have to go back today because my tire is STILL leaking. Looks like I'm going to get a new tire today. YAY for it being free and not because of vandalism! LOL As I mentioned, I have school reading and idea jotting down to do today so I can write my paper tomorrow. I'm also supposed to babysit at a friends house today for a few hours. Dropping my Maxwell off at my rents house today and I AM GOING OUT TONIGHT!!!! I am going to get my dance on! Planning on 3 drinks today. Depending on the day's eating....THAT plan may change! LOL

Yeah Angie,I'm kinda not in a hurray any more either(since I've reached my biggest goal) but when i started this Journey..I said I'd give it all I've got for 2 years.(which i did/have been)and it will be Dec.18 of the year cause i want to settle into buying clothes(in the correct size),living my new lifestyle without always worried about trying to lose weight.KWIM..for me if i don't have an ending point and move on to something else..I'd be locked in this world of trying to lose weight like forever..and I don't want a life like.
For me..I'm trying not to let a mindset of like..I have forever to get where i want to be set in cause knowing me..I'd get complacent,won't push as hard and when i look around 5 yrs will have past(don't have anything to wear cause everything is in different sizes) and I'm still trying to lose this last 20 or 30 lbs.

I'm updating on my iPod because Cam is using the computer right now. Forgive me my typos! The on plan day yesterday helped - I'm down 1.8 to 205.6 I am still very hungry but it probably is due to delaying breakfast. Walmart has their anniversary sale on today and since we were up early I thought we might as well go before it gets crazy. I got enough stuff to make my soup today and the had great deals on lots of kid-food. I am all stocked up on pop tarts, waffles and pizza pockets. Yesterday at another store I found little 100 calorie Greek yogurt cups (with honey) which are pefect for bringing to work.
Rennie - I ate a hashbrown this morning at mcd's when I pocked up a breakfast burrito for the little one (that's how I got him to agree to go to Walmart at 7:30) but it's just 139 cal so not too bad; and I'm having Greek yogurt and a coffee now. I will keep my phone on so text me if you need any encouragement today. Try to think of me when you are tempted! And think of how good it will feel to come back to this thread later and brag about how well we did rather than make a confession :D. You are a good friend Rennie - thank you.

Diana - thanks :) I have to think of something nice to do in return for those girls. They've both talked about getting pandora bracelets before...would it be silly to get them a charm before they have the bracelet?

I am down 1.2 to 160.8. I knew it was just because I ate late and weighed early, but I'm still glad to see it gone again. I am soooo in love with my new vibram fivefingers. I ran/walked 2.1 miles yesterday morning and my feet felt like I had just gotten out of bed, plus I had more speed without even trying. I also did the most stable set of lunges and squats I have ever done in my life. I am going to be getting a second pair with a smoother sole for zumba, DH says I can have them after the 1st.

Goodness you guys were talkative yesterday, new thread and everything! That's what I get for not checking back for over 24 hours, huh?


Kukkie - Congrats on the doc saying you can have the surgery. I hope you and DH get the $$ for it sorted quickly.

Jami - You're tough and those 250s don't stand a chance! I thought myself into giving C25K another shot. Since I was already doing a bit of run/walk on my own I am doing one day from each week until I find the one that is difficult and then I will follow the program properly. Gotta get ready for the mudrun! Now to hope C25K does not get in the way of P90X.

aka - TOM is a jerk, he's been messin with my efforts this week too, but as long as you are OP you should hopefully see a whoosh at the end.

Aimee - I sometimes wish for the warmth of uggs, but I just can't bring myself to do it, plus DH would be upset since he hates them even more than I do. Andy minute now you're going to be taking those 250s from Jami! Impossible my butt, that doctor (was it a real doctor?) needs a swift kick!

crainjo - You need to get that child on a track team just as soon as he is old enough! Congrats on the 219!

Diana - I hate my internal clock too, while I am just now getting to posting, I got up at 6:00 even though I had turned off the alarm and planned to sleep in a bit. Oh well, the kitchen is clean, lol.

for everyone considering C25K - i'm making that my new years resolution, to start that program! i've wanted to do the program for so long, and i was told my ankle should be healed up enough to handle it then. TooManyDimples (i think?) had a link for a good set of podcast music that is basically set to the program, has a tone and a change of tempo to let you know when you go from walk to run or run to walk. and it's got a different 30 minute set of music for each different day of the program. it's techno music so might not be for everyone.

I had an absolutely crappy day yesterday - everything that could possibly have gone wrong did, one thing after another. I had to do things at work twice, in some cases three times, because of an issue with my laptop - I missed a deadline on one thing, had to stay late on a Friday to make sure I didn't miss others, blah blah blah. By the time I got home, I was feeling really blah and didn't want to do anything, and it's really cold here and I think I'm trying to stave off a cold or something. Anyways, in a moment of weakness and before I had the opportunity to think about it, I ordered a pizza. Oh boy. The good news is I only had a couple of slices, I didn't devour it - left it for my husband and brother. But I am up today by 0.6 to 201. And I have a meal out today. Yikes. Water water water water water!!!! Have a great day all.

REnnie -- Oh, by the way two of the drinks I had on Thursday were beer, one slushy one, one glass of red wine, and a bloody mary...lmao -- I was all over the map. Sheesh, I'm still feeling it -- now days after I drink a bit I feel it for 2-3 days afterward, so much tougher than in my younger days. I did discover in Vegas that if I just keep on drinking I can delay the overall reaction until the vacation is over :lol3: I did get a little whoosh today, -1.8 and I'll hope to do well for tomorrow too. Don't be shy about eating more protein, it's unlimited on Dukan, right? It's the same with my plan -- lean protein is unlimited -- but since I count calories as well I do limit myself.

Jami -- I love seeing your numbers for the last week, finally you are on the move again! You did so well through your plateau. I totally think it's unfair that we even HAVE plateaus when we are still in the 200's -- it seems unjust doesn't it? I did start C25K last year, but I got discouraged around week 5 -- if there are a bunch of people starting here I"ll try it again too.

Sam -- Glad to see you've made your way back to the 140's! Have a great weekend :)

Diana -- We were up way too early too. I let Cam stay up until 10:00 last night, but he was up bright and early at 6:30 this morning. He doesn't even wake up that early on school days!

Aimee -- I bought my LS chicken broth at Walmart today...so I'm using 2-3 boxes of that plus a bag of baby spinach, finely chopped carrots and then you make small meatballs (not too small because they shrink in the pot as they cook) with extra lean ground beef, parmesan cheese, 1 egg and some basil, salt & pepper. Mix that all up and form little meatballs and just plop them in the boiling broth. Oh -- the traditional recipe uses orzo pasta but I'll put in about half as much brown rice to keep it more on plan for me. I'm staying with the same company, but moving to a different office --- the one I moved from 9 years ago actually, so it's a bit like going home. Have a great day at work and I hope you'll defy your pattern and have a loss to report later :D

Vixsin -- Have fun tonight on your night out...1 oz of vodka + anything diet is just 64 calories :) I love vodka & club soda, very refreshing. (Wish I'd remembered that the other night when I was out!)

Kristi -- What was your low weight from before? I'm thinking you are close to it but I wasn't sure.

Ona -- Yeah, you're right...I'm trying not to be in a hurry but it is important to not let it drag on forever and become the only focus in my life. I think 2 years is reasonable -- I lost 70 in the first year and now that my losses come a lot slower and harder I think another year is reasonable to lose the next 40 or so. I'm thinking 160 might be the right number for me for now - that would probably put me in a size 10 or so.

Roxy -- I've always wondered about those shoes, although the name made me giggle, sounds kind of funny...:lol: If I heard the name without knowing they were shoes I'd think you'd bought something far more personal. :o

Mandy, Jami, Aimee, Rennie, and others --- RE: C25K --- a New Years resolution sounds like a good idea to me. That would give me time to mentally prepare myself, and of course allow time to lose more weight so I'm not carrying around so much while trying to run/jog. :D Ideally I'd like to be under 225 before I start C25K, but I've been noticing lately that it's much less EFFORT for me to attain the same work-out levels. I guess it's because I'm carrying around 35 less pounds that I had been before!

RE: Italian food last night --- well, we ended up opting for the Village Tavern, which has steaks/seafood/pasta/a little of everything. Lots of specialty drinks (all over 300 cals each, I'm sure.) I did SO well. I had ONE beer and opted for a filet tenderloin salad with 2-3 oz of ranch on the side. I ordered it without the shell and avoided the bread altogether. Sure, I could have had dressing other than ranch, but it's my favorite and I haven't had it in months. :D

I weighed in at 256.2 this morning, down 0.8 from yesterday. I was VERY surprised, given my dinner last night, which, while not entirely unhealthy, was much higher in fat/cals than what my daily average is.

Congrats on the losses here today everyone!! I'm going to hit the gym in a few and have lunch with a friend at Panera. Trying really hard to stay OP this weekend since last weekend was such a bust.

angie - i'm starving today too.. i just keep chugging water because i know my spaghetti dinner for a bunch of folks is gonna make me go overboard if i eat too much. between samples and my light lunch i've had about 300 calories today... and while my dinner is light-ish... it's spaghetti. and salad. and cheese. and bread. and fruit with a yummy dip (8oz light cream cheese, 14 oz marshmallow fluff). and possibly ice cream.

these are gonna be well fed people!

Angie - Great WI this morning! I'm impressed how early you were up today! I barely get out of the house by 8am! The soup sounds pretty great, have you ever calculated the calories? Enjoy going back to your old office, when is your start date?

Roxy - Great WI for you too! Josh thinks Ugg's are pretty ugly too, but for some reason he likes them on me, so maybe he just loves that my feet are warm for once! He tells me that I wear them better than most - since I wear them with jeans/sweats and they are almost completely covered. Yeah, I'm not too sure WHAT that show was thinking with that doctor, but it sure didn't motivate me to get surgery!

I did manage to have a decent WI today! I had to pee so badly I was doing the pee dance when I weighed myself and I was up .2, but I don't count that as a gain really! TOM started today as well, so it definitely could be worse! Just gotta keep up the good eating during TOM and I should see a good loss afterwards! :D I am pretty tired today, when the alarm went off this morning I flung my pillow across the room when I was trying to find the alarm clock :lol: Made me giggle a little!

Kukkie - I would have made them make their own pancakes. My DH has been wanting some for days, but doesn't want them enough to make them himself so he hasn't had any!

Aimee - There was a girl here in bright green Soffe shorts and tan uggs and she got an attitude about me looking at her like she was an idiot.


I so did not want to work out today. My calves are hella sore from yesterday, but I did it anyway. Roxy: 1; Laziness: 0. I also discovered an NSV, when I lay down on my back and am relaxed there is a valley between the sides of my ribcage! I have no idea how long it has been that way, but I just discovered it. I was also marveling at how close to the surface my ribs are earlier today. It's all kinds of strange.

Aimee -- I entered my ingredients into my loseit app and it's about 256 calories per serving (2 big ladels)...but that all depends on how much ground beef you use (I used about a pound) and it was extra lean. :) I've been irritable all day from getting up so early today...lesson learned for tomorrow. Congrats on the good weigh in today!

Roxy -- I do want to try those shoes on...I'll have to find out where they are sold here. I love that you can see your ribs! I was noticing my layer of fat over mine is much thinner now. I look forward to the day when I can actually make out their shape :lol:

Thanks Angie good job on the 1.8lbs GONE :high: Sounds like you did well on the shopping, way to go :) I ate a huge breakfast and at first I was kicking myself (a little) I had one egg with turkey ham & cheese, potatoes with onion and green pepper cooked with cooking spray (I used the food processor) that thing scared my son and I at first, we need practice :D and 2 pancakes with regular syrup, I couldn't finish the pancakes. Here are my numbers for the day

calories 758, carbs 135, protein 22, sodium 1430 <-- this is all from breakfast

I was glad that I had the breakfast because when we got to my in-laws, every time I saw something I wanted and went to the food tent it was gone. The only thing I ate there was a fork of mac n cheese from my daughters plate. So I did well (I wanted the banana pudding and cake) they weren't eating that too fast, but I fixed my hubby a plate of it and sat my hinny down :D yep protein is key on Dukan :) I emailed you back on FB did it come through, I did it from my phone and when I tried to find it on my phone I couldn't, but maybe I just don't know where to look on the phone app, so I'll check here. Good Morning All,

Last night was super fun. I danced the night away! I did end up doing some snacking way too late but it is what it is. I'm up 3 lbs this morning to 189.8. SIGH!!! I know 97% of it is water but wow it's like a hard shove when you get a fluctuation like that, ya know? I expected it, but still.

Whew! OK, glad to get that out. Today I am on plan. I am already drinking water. :) Much to do today. Schoolwork of course. Lots of chores as well. Laundry and cleaning. So I feel that I'm going to get in some good acticvity today. I am going to try, try, try for some treadmill time. Ideally, I'd love to get a strength workout in today too.

Like Jo and Melissa, I've ovulated too and I've been feeling especially crampy for 2 days, so that could be some of the gain too. I think it's primarily my severe lack of sleep, snacks last night, and maybe a little water in my muscles. My legs are achy this morning. Who knows?

I never was able to get my tire fixed yesterday because the place was closed. Now it'll have to wait until the beginning of the week. Annoying.

Angie & Rennie - I love the chicken caesar salad at Panera. It's become a staple for me! :D Lately I've been either getting that salad (without croutons) or the smoked turkey sandwich on wheat, with the olive oil mayo. I do avoid the soups because the sodium is crazy high.

LGW, Kukkie --- I am all craving pancakes now after reading your posts. :D

Gang ... we should definitely get a group together to start C25K around New Years. Annnnd --- maybe when we go on our cruise, we'll have to run a 5K around the ship. :joker:

Good morning! Despite a higher calorie day again (1581) I lost 2.2lbs overnight WHOOSH! I'm at 203.4 this morning and ready to hit it hard to move forward.

I watched a documentary last night called Fat Head (on Netflix) and it was basically arguing the documentary Supersize Me. In Fat Head the point was that you CAN eat at fast food places every day and lose weight. This guy lost 12lbs in a month by skipping out on sugar and carbs...he would toss the bun and drink diet sodas. Anyway it talked a lot about insulin and how our bodies react to different types of foods and reminded me that this is the principle of my plan -- low carb, low sugar, low sodium and unlimited protein and healthy fats; so I'm going to go back to that once again. I read over all my phase 1 paperwork last night and I'll try to follow that for at least this week and then move on to phase 2 which does have more carbs, but they have a very low net carb value.

Rennie -- You did so well, way to go!! I didn't get your reply on facebook but I got your PM here. I'm surprised to hear you were up yesterday, you had a great day the previous day. Oh well, it will likely pay off today when combined with your awesomeness yesterday. I can't wait to see your weigh in this morning!

Vixsin -- Sounds like you had a great time :) Don't worry you'll be back on track and shedding those extra pounds this week.

Roxy -- Good job on holding steady!

Jess -- I think anything 1lb or more is a whoosh :) Congratulations!

Late night, high carbs, early morning, but only a 0.3 gain to 201.3 - also didn't get enough water yesterday. But today I am home, it is a cooking day, yay, so realistically shouldn't have any issues with water or food.

I am down .6 to 174.0. I actually dreamed that the scale said 169 this morning. I weighed 174.8 when I went to bed, and the usual is to go down 3-4 pounds by morning but nope I couldn't be so lucky ;)

set a non-food reward for yourself. a new outfit. a haircut. a mani-pedi. a trip to a favorite spot. something you don't do for yourself regularly that you would really enjoy. knowing what's waiting at the end of the next 10 pounds is a way to keep pushing.

it also helps to think that "hey, it's only 10 pounds. i've done this before, i can definitely do it again." and then set to it. :)

Let's just say - vacation is over -- I could not get it together this week -- my planning was terrible, I made terrible choices and everything I did this week was just spontaneous. Well, at least I know next time I have that much time on my hands I really need to plan. I was just downright irresponsible -- like a kid in a candy store without parents!

So I will be doing an official Day 1 weigh in tomorrow and just starting over! It's the only thing I can think of to get myself back on track. I just cut up all of my lettuce and veggies and I'm about to cut up chicken, tomatoes and squash for this evening. HERE WE GO!

Diana -- I'm glad you got a good sleep last night, it makes a world of difference. I'm going to try to get to bed a little earlier tonight to see if I can get 8 hours in.

AKA -- I'm trying to get to ONEderland. The date went well? That's great...hope you find something more interesting to do on your next one; I remember broke dates :) The only way I've found to speed things along is to cut carbs and add exercise, that sometimes works for me.

Rennie -- Good job on the .6! I'm surprised it wasn't more too...maybe it's holdover from the sodium at breakfast? You might get a whoosh tomorrow still.

Ona -- Hang in there. :sumo: It seems like 1500-1600 should be reasonable for calories, especially with all the exercise you do. Are you still following SB?

I've done well for avoiding carbs, getting in lots of protein, and staying within my calories -- my sodium is through the roof though.I was shopping with a friend today and we stopped at McD's for lunch -- I had the southwest salad :) she had a burger and fries. For dinner we had turkey sausage and salad, but the sausage was high in sodium too. I'll drink lots of water and suck a lemon a little later to help with that.

LGW -- Way to jump back in! What is your next mini goal?

Roxy - shorts & ugg's are always a fashion DON'T!! I don't get that whole look, if you are going to wear shorts, at least wear some flip flops! Nicely done with the workout yesterday! :)

Angie - that's a pretty decent calorie count for the soup! I've been craving some potato leek soup, so I'll have to decide which I want first! Nice whoosh! Sounds like an interesting show, I might have to watch it! I haven't been focusing any of my energy on carbs/protein etc, I'm pretty much trying to make everything lower calorie, homemade and something I can handle doing for a long time. I'm glad it got you motivated, it's nice to get that little burst! :D

Rennie - Sometimes you have to stop being nice and start looking out for yourself, that's the unfortunate lesson I'm learning by having her as my boss. I am terrible at standing up for myself, so it's also good for me to do that. I'm not sure about this pattern, up down up down, I'm kind of over it ;) Good job with your day, resisting all the food! It'll all pay off, even if you have a temporary gain! I was at work all day :( It was a long day, TOM is kicking my butt.

Vixsin - sounds like a fun night - and that water weight will be gone in no time! Hang in there :D

Pgh - Definitely a WHOOSH!! I'm down for C25K! They are putting a gym into my apartment building so hopefully they'll have a treadmill, if not I'm out :( It's WAY too cold here in January/February to go outside! :lol:

aka - I used to love dating in College! But yeah, lack of money can make dates pretty.. interesting! :lol: I met my boyfriend in college and so I only dated for 6 months before I met him, but I sure packed a lot in! I am not the person to ask for advice to speed things along, I lose very slowly sadly. But watching carbs/sugars usually helps!

I got on the scale this morning with TOM, I was up 1.1, which is predictable. My goal now is to maintain that gain without gaining any more! I'm doing really well all day at work, but TOM is kicking my butt and so I'm just exhausted by the end of the day. Last night we had take out, and tonight.. well so far no dinner at all. Josh will be in charge of dinner because I'm so cramping I can't stand. But with 3/4th of my day being perfect, I can't undo it all at dinner, right? Please say right ;)

Somehow I've missed all this cruise talk - when and where? I've been dying to go on a cruise for YEARS!!

Thanks Angie, did you remember your MFP sign in yet so you can see what I ate? Today was good, two smoothies and then some chips but overall good. I want so bad to see a new number tomorrow. I wanted to eat pancakes this morning with family but I didn't and I wanted to eat the rice I made with dinner but I didn't. I've been a good girl today :D What is the name of the food tracker you use? I try my best to avoid McDonald's I want some fries from there or any where really bad with a ton of ketchup :D Need to add grapes to my count today :)

I was one to say what I felt and did not care one bit about what anyone thought or their feelings. I would quirk out at the drop of a hat. I told my husband that he must have really loved me to put up with me because I would have definitely left him if he acted like me. :D Thank goodness for change, in my case it is a blessing ;) We were talking next year the end of the year or beginning of 2013, but someone needs to get the ball rolling so we'll know who to pay and when the last payment is due and hopefully the bulk of us (including me with no job) can and will go :)

Thanks Ona, so what have you decided to do? You know maybe you are building tons muscle and that is why it seems like you are not moving. You workout a ton, so every part of you has got to be taking on new form I'm sure, give it time :hug:

Starting C25k Week 2 tomorrow! I ran through the rain and the mud tonight like I was G.I. Jane. Nothing can stop me.
Tomorrow's my WW weigh-in so I may be moving that ticker and getting that mini goal. 5% means a manicure, **** I might even throw in a pedicure too.

Rennie - Thanks about the picture :) I have worn a lot of makeup for work for years, so I feel naked without it! Great numbers btw, crossing my fingers, toes and legs for a good WI today! I think there's got to be a balance between being too nice (me) and outspoken to the point where you can hurt people you care about, I'm trying to find a good balance between being nice and NOT letting people walk all over me - which they do. Not sure if I can do the cruise myself, I have a blackout period from November 1 - January 2nd, no vacation during that time. We'll see :) Lots of things can change in that amount of time!

Jess - running outside can definitely be a challenge - especially when it's -40C! So if I've got a treadmill, it's on! :) Don't mope around, you know what you did, you had a great workout, and tomorrow is a new day! The great thing about trying to lose weight is that every meal is a new opportunity to make a good choice :D And you will make all good choices today I am sure!

aka - Congrats on week 2 of C25K! I might start next week, this week is going to be a little crazy for trying to fit it in, especially with TOM , which is kicking me in the booty :(

I think it is gonna rain here today, so no outside run for me today probably. I will either do the treadmill or eliptical at the gym for lunch. Then this afternoon I get to put in 1 1/2 hours at the gym while I wait for my daughter's dance class to finish. I have a 5k to run Saturday at our local community festival. The Wing Dang Doodle and Blue Festival. Chicken wing cook off and blues all day. I am hoping for a personal best for my 5k time.

AKA Way to go on the C25K. That is what really took me to the next level in my weight loss. I had lost around 30 pounds before I started the program in May. Since then, I have added 40 more lost. There is a great sense of accomplishment after you finish every run of the program. When I first started my calves felt like they were gonna explode during those 60 second runs. Just hang in there. Just make sure you give yourself a none run day in between runs. That helped me out. Now I can run one or two 5ks everyday without being sore.

Rennie - I use MyFitnessPal for tracking calories and nutrient info, so I have a good idea of what I need to do today and tomorrow to get back on track. Luckily for me, it wasn't "heavy" pizza. It was a white pizza with no sauce other than the garlic olive oil they use. You're right, it is WAY too easy to eat that much pizza!!! I cannot say the same about broccoli, which is what I should be eating instead, lol.

Aimee - thanks for the encouragement!!! :) Hope you feel better today - I can relate with wanting a hot water bottle and my bed. lol

I am up .4 to 161.2. Hmph! Too much coffee yesterday and not enough water. However, I pulled out my fall/winter stuff and my boxes of 7/8 clothing yesterday. There were only a few items in the 7/8 that didn't fit and I suspect that they are junior sizes and about half of what didn't fit will fit in a month or 2 anyhow. I am officially a size 8, with 2 pair of 7s that fit extremely well. :carrot::carrot: Take that Mr. Stupid Scale!


Angie - The principles of no sugar and low carb certainly work and I don't doubt a person could lose weight eating at fast food places if they did it the way he did, but I can't imagine it's healthy. I'll keep my chicken breast, avocado, and fage, lol. Not that I think you were about to dive into a fast food only diet, can you imagine?

Diana - Yay for sleep!

crainjo - I LOVE boiled peanuts, but they are :devil: That festival sounds fun, good luck on your 5K!

'Morning. Bring on another work week - it's going to be a crazy one, so apologies now if I don't get around to personals - I'm half reading, just haven't had the chance to write responses.

I'm down 0.4 this morning to 200.9 - but TOM arrived full force, so I'm sure a water gain is in the foreseeable future. Back to work, which means back on plan.

Can't remember who asked about the movie - watched I don't know how she does it on the weekend. I thought it was an okay movie, it wasn't horrible, but I wasn't thrilled about it either. I'm about 80% of the way through the book, and found that the movie didn't do justice to the story. I know there are always going to be differences, but with The Help - I thought either/or could have been done on it's own and it was a great screen adaptation, but this one not so much.

Back to work today, I usually have breakfast at work (oatmeal, eggs, fruit) and I have my lunch packed. I have chicken and veggies already prepped to be to be cooked this evening over a bed of lettuce! Here we go again :)

Ona..Good deal for pushing for the 3 miles:carrot: I find myself pushing for 3 everytime. Thanks for the encouragement this morning. Thank yall for having me on this thread. It really helps keep me accountable and encouraged seeing how the rest of yall are dealing with your weight loss, the losses and the gains.

Running is definetly more mental than physical after a certain point. Once you break through and know that you can run that full three miles, it just changes your whole thought process. But my body and mind continues to tell me to stop or to walk so I can catch my breath. The more you run, the more you will be able to discern when you can push through a wall, or when to not push.

The games were good. The only one I was concerned about was Oklahoma State and they won big. Now this weekend we have Texas A & M.

what a morning ...

My day has been crazy from the moment I woke up. First my weight is exactly the same as yesterday so wasn't happy about that. But I went to bed feeling overly bloated and I woke up with a little relief but not much. Then my little one comes in my room to use the bathroom and her pants are wet. I asked her if she had an accident? She shrugs her shoulders and gives me this blank look. So I clean her up and tell her to go check her bed, if it's wet, strip it. Well the bed isn't wet and it doesn't smell like pee. (she has not had an accident since the time she couldn't get her belt off fast enough). OK then we (a neighbors child that comes over before/after school, my two kids and me) walk to the bus stop we're chit chatting away all happy. And my little lady slows down to a crawl when the bus pulls up. Every body has boarded and she is in full blown tears. I ask her whats wrong and she says I don't know. Remember last Wednesday we had the crying episode and she missed Mommy. Well I found out she did it again on Thursday but her teacher was able to calm her down. Friday she got a nervous stomach as we were walking out of the door and I let her stay home since her bowels were loose and my oldest was off work. And then today, wow!!!! I took her to school and she was fine until we got there and the assistant principal told her to hurry to class so she wouldn't be tardy. Well she was tardy anyway. She turned around and looked at me with the red, teary eyes and there was no way I was going to make her go to class. We sat and talked for a few minutes and then the sub that is filling in for her teacher talked to her for a minute and she went on to class, happy. So we shall see what today will be like. I also spoke to the guidance counselor to see if she could maybe find out what's going on. Oh and the other crazy thing is I got side tracked with the laundry this morning. I guess it was about 7:40. I took a load out of the dryer from yesterday, to put in a new load, well I did something else not sure what, turned around and there was a basket of laundry. Well I told you laundry needs to be done daily with 7 people so I put another load in the washer, thinking my husband has brought the laundry down. Well he didn't I put the clean basket there and completely forgot so I washed them again :dizzy: After I got my little one situated at school went to the auto mechanic that fixed the valve in my tire and told him it was leaking again. He said when did we fix it, I don't know I couldn't find the paperwork. But he could have looked in his computer, but he was busy. NO PROBLEM I'm thinking I will let my husband deal with it, just put some air in my tire.

Aimee, well I think it's great that even though you have worn a lot of make and feel naked without it. It's a great thing to know that you don't need it, because many woman that wear make up look down right (out whatever you want here) and I think that is sad. It's one thing to enhance but to have someone do a double take if they see you without is bad. ;) I think you look great. People that I care about know that I am a direct person. I am not the person you ask a question if you don't want an honest answer. I have always been that way, I am just much more dignified than before. I think before I speak, before if it was in my head it came out of my mouth. And I am told often that is what people like about me, so it's all good :) Depending on the cost I may not be able to, and during the dates that you mentioned it's holiday time. It would quite pricey during those dates I'm sure. I wonder if we can find the person that set up the one before on here. Maybe ask the moderators :) I like this ---> The great thing about trying to lose weight is that every meal is a new opportunity to make a good choice. LOL Jess I can kill some broccoli, but it must be steamed just right (crunchy) with a little spray butter, yummy. I think it's all of that dough with pizza that kills us. One of the times that the kids had pizza last month, I pulled the toppings off two slices and just ate that and the 1 edge crust from my son and I didn't have a gain (but I know it is such a waste) but I wanted it and it was so good. :drool: now I want pizza ;) Yep Today will be a better day :hug:

rennie - if i wasn't a little crazy i'd be a lot insane, i'll take it ;)

bloated like a balloon this morning even after several bottles of water yesterday. i have no idea why or how TOM is gearing up to hit me a week early. i usually don't feel PMS effects until 2-3 days before, not a full on week. due to being on the pill i know exactly when it's supposed to start (every 4th monday)... can stress have an effect on your period when you're on the pill? hrm.

exhausted today with my emotions all over the place, just as they have been the last two days. cried all over my husband the last two nights for the slightest thing and stress over not finding a job yet. my eyes and face are showing it. and i'm looking at a lunch i usually love (turkey + lettuce on whole wheat, yogurt, string cheese, water + mio) and thinking "i really don't wanna eat that"... wtf. stupid PMS. sometimes i wish i was born with a penis. :-|

But maybe this wonky weather has something to do with how you're feeling. I don't know about SC but here we went from beautiful sunshine to tons of rain, then one gorgeous day of sunshine great temps and then it was freezing. I truly hope you feel better soon :hug:

I've been really tired here lately. I actually laid down for a nap and would still be sleep I think had the phone not rang. :)

Rennie - that's quite the start to the day - how's the rest of it going so far? When I wear makeup I rarely look like I pile it on - which is good because I'd definitely be in the wrong job! I am fairly honest myself, someone once told me I was honest to a fault, weird comment. TOM isn't easing up too much, but I'm pumping the ibuprofen and enjoying a relaxing afternoon :D I just had a half day at work, and then the bf took me out for lunch. I could only eat half, so full, oh my!

Weighed again, definitely holding on to some water weight, can't remember the actual number... denial perhaps? :lol: Oh TOM you devil you!

Sorry everyone. I disappeared this weekend. I had some great quality time with my boys and was COMPLETELY lazy Sunday. (Didn't even brush my teeth! :lol:) But I come back to all my 3FC besties with the best news! I maintained Saturday, gain .9 Saturday (Thanks TOM), and lost 1.7 Sunday which has me down too.....drum roll please...

249.6! That's right baby! That's me...out of the freakin 250's!

I just started TOM Sunday it's kicking my butt! Horrible cramps. That considered and the fact that I've just barely squeaked by so the 240s might not stay and I probably won't "count" it until my official WI on Friday but just the fact that I actually saw that 4 has me singing from the rooftops!

I see folks are getting amped up about starting the C25K program. I might not be able to wait until New Years for that one. My BFC challenge ends October 8th and I think I might start after that to keep things going.

Sam -- Congrats on getting so close to the 140s!

Diana -- Thanks for always being such a mentor for us.

Aimee -- Thanks for the kudos. You ladies know how tough those 250's were for me but it's a huge success that I persevered! I've NEVER understood the Ugg's and shorts/skirts style either. Hi all -- I'm up .2 today to 203.6 which is not too shabby considering the sodium count for yesterday. Looking forward to tomorrow to see what the scale brings.

AKA -- The lemon helps some people when they are retaining water...I forgot to put lemon in my water last night, that might have helped! Congratulations on your whoosh today, nice one!

Mandy -- An early visit from TOM sucks...sorry, but maybe he'll make the stay short. Another thought, any other reason your hormones might be going a little nuts and you might feel out of sorts? ;)

So hopefully logging in to this thread will get me through the night! :) Funny - I've seen post from others regarding seeing swelling after a horrible binge and I actually noticed it in my face yesterday and this morning. When I initially start gaining weight, my face looks different -- now I know why.

Ona: great job on the 3miles! I keep saying that I cannot run; however, I was forced to do it for military training YEARS AGO (age 19, 135 lbs ) and I was able to do it. You actually had no choice! 2 miles - no stopping - daily if I remember corrrectly. It's funny because sometimes I will be walking and try to run, and maybe get in 2 steps before I start wheezing LOL I try to psych myself out, thinking about when I was forced to do it -- doesn't work when no one is actually yelling at you I guess!

Aimee the rest of my day went well. No complaints other than me eating all the wrong things :(. Hey when/if we meet you can give me a make over. The older I get, I think I need a new look but have no clue what to do or where to start :) ... honest to a fault I think I would have asked them to elaborate :) eating half your lunch is an NSV, way to go. Angie, I do wonder about the lemon/lime sometimes ... but how would you know unless you ate the same thing two with lemon/lime and two days without it. I think it works well for some of us depending on what contained the sodium, IDK. She told the guidance counselor that she misses me and she thinks about me during the day (morning). She told her sister the same thing when she got off the bus, so hopefully from here things will be better.

My numbers today were good until dinner. I had spaghetti and two slices of garlic bread *which I just added the bread to MFP so my day is worse than I thought ...

Thanks LGW and great job with getting back on plan, hope you have a great weigh in tomorrow :). It was easier when I first started than it is now, I fall more than I stand this time around. I can't wait to have one month or just a half of a month when I can stay OP, heck a week OP would be great. Yeah 7 people there's always something to clean and laundry is never ending. Oh well just a slight gain. Did not get in my two workouts yesterday.I stayed on plan (except for a couple of small brownies my MIL made), but the soup my MIL made for dinner was a little heavy on the sodium. So I actually take it as a push and will see 217 or better on the scale tomorrow.

Made a breakfast burritto for breakfast. Only 360 calories. One corn tortillia toasted, 1/2 tablespoon of whipped cream cheese, one tablespoon salsa, one baisted egg, and one microwabable sausgage patty. It was pretty filling. I have to start having better breakfast meals. I do better with staying on plan if I get a good breakfast in, but I have never been a breakfast person.

That baisted (sp) egg that I was talking about is pretty easy. I saw it on Man vs food one night. I had never heard of it. Just take a small pan and heat it up, spray the pan with cooking spray (not a lot), put the egg in and let it start to sizzle, then pour a little water in the pan and cover for a minute or so. The water steams the egg done and keeps the yolk runny (if you like that), or you can leave it on a little longer and the yolk will cook. Quick and easy, and it doesn't stink up the house early in the morning.

Sorry I missed everyone yesterday. Crazy busy! Worked a half day. Got a new tire. Phase 1 of cleaning the kitchen done. Whew! I got it all done but wow! I was busy yesterday! Thanks to getting everything done yesterday and getting some reading done for school, today is shaping up to be a more manageable pace. :) Yay for that!

I may not have been perfectly on plan, but there is NO WAY that I have consumed this many extra calories. It's just not true. I don't think I got enough calories yesterday because my day was so insanely busy. I also made dinner last night out of a box! :eek: Sodium, sodium, sodium!! I DID manage a little sweat on the treadmill for 20 mins. Not ideal, but I was grateful for any exercise. I am pre-TOM (due this week). Sleep was an issue this weekend but last night was 7 full hours. :) I am on track again today. Trying not to let the scale bother me. I know there's almost no use to trying to figure out "the gains."

The plan is for a run after work today. With all of this talk of C25K, I am thinking of doing the program again. I may start today. Anyone wanna join me?

Well I'm up 1.8 to 175.8. Don't think that I am giving up but I am really starting to think that the 170's is where I'll be. I am honestly thinking this is a comfort zone for me. I am 44.2lbs down from my highest recorded weight and 19.6lbs down from when I started with 3FC. I haven't plateaued in a long time but I can't get away from this range, it's annoying.

I hope those of you that haven't checked in have great great whooshes and weigh ins today :)

Funny - I've seen post from others regarding seeing swelling after a horrible binge and I actually noticed it in my face yesterday and this morning. When I initially start gaining weight, my face looks different -- now I know why.

LGW & Everyone I didn't post this before, but there is something odd that I have noticed after I have a splurge. I don't get this from a one meal splurge, I get it from a long weekend splurge. My outer thighs, hips, glutes, lower abdomen, etc. becomes sore. This is hard to explain, but I will do my best.

Let's say I have a vacation/long weekend splurge. When I exercise for the next week or so, my lower body is very sore. It is not sore from exercising. It's like the soreness is in the fat, not in the muscle or joint. Now, what do I contribute it to? I am very pear/bell shaped when I am overweight. I hold my weight in the areas where I get this soreness. I am thinking the fat cells in those areas are expanding due to the overeating. I don't know if they are just expanding and filling with water, fat, or if they are actually multiplying.

I have noticed this every single time I have a multi-day splurge. I find this scary. I like being pear shaped, but the heavier I get, those areas get very disproportion compared to my upper body.

I have been noticing this and thinking about it since I got into maintenance. I know there is all kinds of research out there. Some people say that the fat cells don't multiply after a certain age, they only get larger. I don't know. All I know is that I don't like the feeling and I don't like what I think the "issue" is. I don't want any fat cells to multiply or get larger. :dunno: It makes me want to rethink longer splurges.

Any thoughts on my nonscientific thinking? :lol:

I think Whole Foods has it here. You can do a search on that site for where you can buy it local. I'm thinking it would be a great snack if you get hungry in between meals or maybe add to yogurt for a little crunch. I don't know what it tastes like though. :lol: I will see if I can find it this week and let you know.

Hey ladies! Yesterday was quite the day at work, managing stakeholders is not easy, especially when they change their minds so damn often. I was exhausted by the time I got home. Not to mention, it was raining when I got off the bus, and hubby lost my umbrella and I haven't even had a chance to replace it. So got home and all I wanted to do was strip and get into a hot shower, have some food and go to bed - had the shower and food, but bed didn't come until quite a bit later. This morning was a total gong show trying to get out the door in time to catch the train, and I forgot to weigh in. Two days of rushing have also led to me forgetting my meds in the morning. Not good, no indeed.

My husband's cousin (the one who got married last year, for those of you that remember the wedding I went crazy planning) and his wife had their first baby a few days ago, and they're staying with my in laws for a while. So we're going to go see the new baby today! And of course, dinner at MIL's is never a good idea, but hopefully we won't stay long enough to eat, although I do want to play with the little one.

Rennie,keep your head up :hug: and stay with it :sumo: review your notes from the time when you got really close to 169 and see if there's anything different you're doing now as compared to then.Sometimes psychologically not letting the scale be the focal point..focusing more on what i eat and moving every chance i get really helps too.

LCW,everything considered i think you did great while on Vaction.Things could have been much worse :) way-to-go getting right back on track :cp: yeah..It's funny how we can do stuff if someone is pushing us.Usually,during my last laps..i try to catch up to someobody I know so they can talk to me to help pull me through :p my Ipod just doesn't do it any longer :D or if i can't find anybody..pray my way through,talk to myself..anything to just get it done :)

215.6 this morning -- up 0.8 from 214.8 -- I will not tell a lie...I am EXTREMELY frustrated that my weight has practically stalled out -- even before my vacation screw ups! I did have some sugar-free cookies last evening so maybe that explains this -- who knows?

I am sticking with the plan, but I do feel as if I'm doing something wrong as I should not be maintaining for this long -- I had a huge whoosh and then just stalled out -- right now just trying to catch up to the ticker.

The catch is that I know eating less is NOT going to win this battle...if I eat less -- lose -- then go back to the correct portions -- I'll gain...so I'm just going to stick to the plan -- it's what lost the initial 26lbs! so it works...

Ona You know how long it takes you to run the 3 miles usually don't you. Create a playlist that has more upbeat songs that come on during those times of weakness. I have "Midnight Rider" on my playlist and it comes on the last few minutes of my run. It helps to here "I've got to run to keep from hiding" and "I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider" as I finish strong.

LCW,you know your Plan works so just go back to working it :) That's what i had to do.Sometimes I be on so many other site,read what other people are saying/doing(want to try what they say) and forget(stray away from) what got me where i am today.Everything will settle down and you'll break that stall for sure :)

Down a pound from yesterday - 160.2, the 150s are soooo close. A couple more NSVs - Yesterday at the gym I had someone tell me she wants to be like me and ask me what exactly I'm doing. I have had showing collar bones for a while now, but now I have noticed that I also have that little dip between them at the base of my neck. I also have the beginnings of a dip in my cheeks below my cheekbones. I was washing all the clothing that I had taken from storage to get the stored smell out of it and discovered that 2 of the size 7s that are too tight still (they fit, but too tight to wear in public) are marked "Juvenile" and I had never noticed before. And a happy that is not an nsv - I was able to shrink my favorite pair of pants from last winter enough to be able to wear them. :carrot:

Ona - Congrats on the 3 miles :yay: Good job! I do the same thing as crainjo, both for running and for other workouts. I have very specific songs in my playlist that are there to help me with the hard parts. One of my favorites for running is I Run for Life (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEZHISEL4lk)

Rennie - I'm sorry you had such a crazy morning yesterday. I hope you figure out what is going on with your little one soon. When I was in the 170s for so long I thought maybe I was destined to be there too. I gave myself a good stern talking to and reminded myself that while I was better than I had been I was still not the best I could be and that it was time to put down the fritos. I did this very literally, in the mirror in the bathroom - talking to myself. It is something I learned from a friend's father who is a psychiatrist (though at the time he was teaching it to me to help me with study habits).

Mandy - I'm sorry TOM is trying to be an early bird with his jerkiness. :hug:

Aimee - Yes, the size 8s definitely make up for it.

Jami - :woohoo: I am sooo lovin that 4 in your tens place. You rock! I'm glad you are already mentally preparing yourself in case TOM throws a 5 back at you though, but even if so, it will be gone again quickly, and gone for good.

Diana - I only say that it is too much coffee because I let myself drink it INSTEAD of my water. I do not believe in such a thing as too much as long as it is in addition to the water. ;)

Angie - I would worry more about health concerns if someone did the fast food only thing more long term. I would worry about sodium levels, blood pressure, lack of nutrients if they weren't supplementing. There is some evidence that cholesterol problems are actually not from dietary fat, so I wouldn't worry as much about that, but at the same time I wouldn't personally want those levels all the time. Plus there are all the crazy chemicals some of the places use to preserve their meats and make them more flavorful. Yikes! However, when I do rarely end up eating at a fast food place, I do it the way he does because I agree with him that it is the best way to deal with fast food. I like to get a burger with no bun and a grilled chicken with no bun and eat them together along with what little veggies are available. I tell them to just skip the bun because there's no reason to waste it plus if it never makes its way onto my tray then I am less tempted to nibble it. (Though I do admit to stealing 1 or 3 fries from someone else.)

Angie - thanks :) I often wonder if I look the same in pictures as I do IRL, I was interviewed for a local TV station a few weeks ago - so I'm going to check it out, I'm always curious how I look to others. :lol: When I'm out with my mom I sometimes ask her to find my body double :lol: She's usually quite willing to go along! That little gain will be gone in no time!

Rennie - Of course I can help with a new look! Or I can try :D Skincare is definitely my specialty, but I'm pretty decent with makeup too! Your dinner sounds pretty good, I woke up STARVING, but I'm also dealing with some hormone fluctuations and it's giving me a little headache.. so I'm not ready to eat. Amazing the sodium thing, I often wonder if sodium effects me, but it's not a huge thing so far (knock on wood it doesn't become one!), SLEEP in a huge one though. If I don't get enough sleep I am guaranteed a gain!

Aletheia - Happy Birthday!! And congrats on making your goal!

crainjo - your breakfast sounds amazing! I'm sure the little gain was from the timing on the scale - amazing how having a good trip to the bathroom can really lighten you up! ;) Funny topics we have here sometimes! :lol:

I have to be prepared because of the amount of people we shop for, plus I love to spoil people close to me :D I am off to WI and find some coffee! BBL!

I seriously don't know what's going on with me this month . . . . mini TOM is sticking around, i don't get this at all, never had this happen.

Jack has been sick for 3 or 4 days now, sleep has been non existant, I'm getting sick because of it. I have no energy at all which isn't surprising. Im hovering at 178.6, I haven't weighed in this morning so who knows. I had salty soup with Jack last night so I imagine that's up.

i'd really like to catch a break and not feel like this month has been a total waste.

Little pitty party going on over here :(

I'm down 1.2 today to 202.6 yay! I'm going to keep trying to keep my carbs under 100g and see how that works for me.

Rennie -- 2035 is high for calories, but still it's not likely more than you burned yesterday, so any gain is probably from sodium/water retention. I know you can get out of the 170s, you have done it before and you were so close a couple of weeks ago. Are you starting dukan again soon? It is so stinking cute that your DD misses you but I'm sorry it's making her feel so sad.

Diana :wave: That bran crispbread is part of my diet plan -- it's one of the few carbs allowed in phase 1. I'm doing phase 1 now and not eating any...if that tells you anything...lol. It's not terrible, but it's not terribly good either. I don't mind it with laughing cow cheese spread on it, and I use it often in place of breadcrumbs when making meatballs, meatloaf or hamburger patties -- throws in a little extra fibre and you don't taste it at all.
I think that is a very interesting idea, I had not really taken notice before about when it happens, but I do know that sometimes I've had that sore feeling that doesn't feel like its in the muscle in my legs. I'll pay better attention to any future off plan days to see if there is a correlation for me.

Crainjo -- I think breakfast is really important for staying on plan too. Sounds like a great one this morning. Do you like greek yogurt? That's easy to bring along if you're in a hurry and has lots of protein.

Vixsin -- Sounds like a rough week. Hang in there. I'm just getting settled into my new job and routine, but I'll likely be up for C25K in October.

Aletheia -- Happy birthday and congratulations on hitting your mini goal -- what a great gift to yourself!

Angie I just discovered Greek yogurt a couple of weeks ago, and have been eating that for breakfast and snacks during the day. I get the Oikos Caramel. It is really good. I need to go get some more at lunch, I am out in my office fridge. I also get turkey hotdogs and zap one or two in the microwave for a quick grab and go breakfast.

Angie Congrats on the 1.2 pounds! Have you ever tried the bran crispbread crumbled in Greek Yogurt? Does the crispbread have a nutty like flavor? How would you describe it? I know we all have different likes/tastes, so it may be difficult to describe. Is it very filling for you?

OK...got a question. Do any of you ever get little "pops" in your abdomen? Several times a week I get little "pops", I guess I would liken it to a rice crispy popping under your skin. They are not really painful, but you can feel it. I have just been imagining it is fat spontaneously combusting! But I was curious if anybody else had experience this during their weight loss. I just had several "pops" on the way back from running my 3 at lunch.

When we're doing everything right but the fat just isn't listening - stubborn like our kids, doubtful that we mean it. Then the fat gets the memo and says, "Okay, okay! I'll drop some since you're serious." :D Garlic bread is a weakness of mine as well. Sorry it bit you. :( How long have you been in the 170s? I know you've struggled with having off plan days so I'm hesitant to agree that you're destined to stay in the 170s. Maybe you just need to sit tight for now until you're ready to recommit to your plan?

Crainjo -- Breakfast is an important meal. Congrats on getting in a good one today! I get lil' gas bubbles in my tummy area from time to time. I think I could describe them as you did. However, I most closely relate them to the early early baby kicks I felt when pregnant but that desription probably won't help you out much. ;)

Vixsin -- Sorry about your crazy day yesterday and that crappy gain this morning. I find that my fluctuations are much more extreme when I'm overly busy or stressed so here's hoping you whoosh soon!

Jess -- Just realized that we're right about the same. Similar heights, similar weights. 1200 cals might be a bit low?

Kukkie -- Sorry to hear about your crazy umbrellaless day yesterday. Enjoy seeing the lil' one! My GF just had a baby and I'm REALLY hoping I'll get to go see her this weekend!

LGW -- I don't know how long you've been maintaining but I was in the 250s for 61 days. Plateaus happen when we least expect them and last different lengths of time for everyone. You've been averaging about 5lbs lost/month and seeing how you're just barely into September...well, I don't think you're doing as bad as you feel you are. Try to be patient with your body. Everything will work out!

Roxy -- Congrats on losing that pound. Wow! You're someone's gym idol! That is quite an honor. Congrats!

Aimee -- Good job getting started on your Christmas shopping! I definitely need to do that! Good luck with your WI!

Coondocks -- Eh, pity party's are okay everyone now and then. Sounds like you've got a lot going on right now. Having a sick child and being behind on sleep is not a good place to be. Hopefully you two don't have anything going on this weekend so you can both get caught back up on your Zzzz's.

Diana that is quite interesting about the soreness. I had to use a different search engine, firefox crashed each time I put in my zip. There are two stores here that carry it that I have never heard of nor have I seen. Both are 15 miles away so I may go sometime next week. Thanks for the link. I want to try it just for the benefits :) Please let me know if you get it first. :)

Kukkie I remember the wedding, congrats to them on the new baby. And you may as well be prepared to stay for dinner. You're not gonna wanna leave the baby so quickly :). I'll bet you were grinning from ear to ear and you should :) I tell myself daily what I am gonna do, I actually dream about my plan before I get up in the mornings but my mouth is just shooting out words and my brain is totally ignoring every one of them :( She had a bout this morning before getting on the bus and I just told her sternly to get on the bus twice. I had a PTO meeting this morning at 9:15 so I got to peep into her class room. She was quitely doing her work, no tears :) Oh man Roxy you just made my day. I am definitely gonna get me some pumpkin to add to my Greek yogurt, yummy thanks :)

Thanks Aimee, :) I love the food baby, LOL I have one daily now from dawn to dusk :) at least yours will go away :)

Back from the hospital -- Cameron got his cast off today! Yay! I've offered to take him to a movie, take him swimming...nope, he's not interested -- he just wanted to come home and play board games. :) He still has to use his crutches right now until he starts to regain flexibility and strength. The first thing we did when we came home was to put him in a bathtub!

LGW -- Stick to your plan, you are coming off a vacation week and you made a great re-start yesterday, but your body might need a bit more time to get back with the program. I hear you though, it's super frustrating to do your best and not see the impact right away.

Roxy - -Great job on your 1lb today! Wow, you've are rocking the NSV's too; I'm so happy about my collarbones beginning to show, and I didn't even think of that little hollow at the base of the neck -- I want that too! I couldn't face fast food long term either, I even get sick of great restaurant food when I'm travelling for a few days. I think the point of the doc was to refute some of the messages in Supersize Me -- ie/ McDonalds is not the devil and people are free to eat whatever they choose, and free to educate themselves about food (or not) as they like. I'm really into their salads now -- if I have to go there that's my go to choice.

Aimee -- Eek! Find your body double, that sounds like something I would avoid at all costs...lol. That's a little too much reality for me -- I like my delusions! I'm starting to think about Christmas shopping too...I've started making lists on my ipod and setting a budget for each person. I can't wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas -- I love fall :)

Crainjo -- Thanks! I buy Oikos too, the honey kind, I haven't seen caramel here yet. I like to mix it with 1/3 of a cup of all bran buds -- that usually keeps me full for a few hours. Hmm...not sure about the pops - I remember that kind of feeling when I was pregnant and getting stretch marks, but that doesn't make sense when you are losing weight. I like your idea about it being fat popping away!

Diana -- I would describe the taste as sawdust...:lol3: - no seriously, its not a very nice flavour, and I would say more savory than sweet, kind of bitter. What I liked about it was that I felt like I was eating a cracker and could use it as a vehicle for something yummier -- it helped when I was out of my mind with carb cravings. I have been thinking about trying some of my high fibre low carb oatmeal mixed into my greek yogurt as an alternative to my allbran buds. I'm not pear shaped...very applish the more overweight I am, when I'm not overweight I'm hour-glassy.

Jami -- Congratulations on your .9 today!! Okay, early to mid October is great for me...the timing is good for my cruise at the end of November too.

Rennie -- Thanks! I'm trying hard now to move back down -- I'm almost back to where I started September...lol. I hope I'll be in ONEderland by the end of this month. This is my good stretch...TOM is done, ovulation is done, so these two weeks are normally my best in the cycle of a month.

alright guys. it's back to daily weighing for me. no more "i feel bloated, not gonna weigh in"... eff it.

today was 252.0 again, and i'm still all puffy even after 3.5 liters of water and a low-cal/low-sodium day yesterday :(

i've noticed that the stress of not working is starting to get to me. i stress money like no other so i'm starting to look at other options. what i'm leaning towards is starting up as a tastefully simple consultant. it's food mixes, glazes, seasonings etc that you just add a few things to. their beer bread and several of the dips are delicious. thoughts?

Dinner was good tonight. I made stir fry chicken and put it on a bed of spinach with a serving of honey dijon salad dressing. :drool: Yeah...that was good. I also had a blueberry greek yogurt. I'm over on calories but I'm coming in at 1800 and I had healthy foods ALL DAY!!!! NO JUNK!!!!

Hello all! Just did W2D1 of C25K. Woot! Yes you will have to hear about every single run for the next eight weeks. Went over my daily points today, but only by like 4, and then ran so it should be OK. Got my 5% sticker last night at my "formal" WI, and literally skipped on my way out. Then I promptly took myself out to buy two new shirts, in a LARGE. Not an XL, but an L. Hoping this honeymoon period never ends.


Ona and Crainjo-Thanks for all the running love. You are both incredibly inspiring to me. I kinda get a big head after every run and I think I'm the ish for 5 minutes. Do you experience this? I want to be an athlete again so badly and be able to play volleyball and basketball and swim without all the extra blub holding me down. Oh yeah crainjo...I get those pops in legs, stomach, but I call them "tingles." I can't believe you mentioned this because I have thought of them as fat blasting away too for a very very long time.

Rennie- Well I rested well, but didn't test so well. No no no you're not stopping in the 70's!! KEEP GOING!!!Y

JamiSue-Welcome back, good to have you again! Yeah my fat has got a lot of catching up to do. It can't hang with us!

quickie post before bedtime...

today's cals ended at around 1400, and sodium at 1800. 3 liters of water. AND a 35 minute workout on the elliptical. according to MFP the only things i went over on were protein and fiber. i guess if you're gonna go over, that's the place to do it?

i feel good :) hopefully the scale will reward me tomorrow!

Angie - Nice job this morning! Whoooosh! :D I have a weird vision in my head of what I look like, so it was kind of nice to see something close to me! My mom still hasn't found an exact double - but honestly, when I see people and compare myself to them, they are normally a lot larger than I am. I think I might be away during Thanksgiving depending, but I do love me some Christmas! Last year Josh and I had a horrible one - so this year we are making plans to put up the tree together, have a night of baking and drinking. ALSO - the bigger news, after years of us saying we didn't want kids, I changed my mind, and I was talking to Josh about it and he actually would like kids too! I'm feeling hopeful about my relationship. Phew - how was that for a novel?

Jami - it really helps to get some shopping done early, plus I've found some CRAZY good deals! I got my grandma some Chanel No 5 for 30 bucks! Regularly 80! You are smokin' thru the 240's to start! So happy for you! :)

Rennie - have you never had a food baby before? :lol: I thought a lot of people had experienced this before! Did you do your daily numbers? What happened? I haven't tallied my numbers yet, but I was only at 1,000 after work, but we had stove top stuffing (omg, I can't believe how much I love that stuff, :lol: ), and some chicken fingers.

My WI was decent this morning, down .7. I had planned on eating off plan today because I was so cranky and miserable... but Josh pushed me to eat on plan, he doesn't know he did this, but I feel better for it. I felt off when I got to work, but as I worked I started to feel more like myself, which is a relief! I'm off to bed, I'm up early tomorrow for work! And then no work on Thursday :D

Hey ladies!! I just came upon this post and think the idea of weighing in and posting everyday could be a great way to keep me on track. Since September is more than half way over, I'm thinking I wont start posting my daily weigh-ins until :carrot:October. But, could someone fill me in on what the posts should include/format, etc? Is it just posting daily weigh ins, and adding to the post each day? Anything else I should/shouldn't include? Very excited to do this in October and get some more accountability about daily weigh-ins!

travelgal Hi and Welcome! :wave: Look at the start of this thread. You can see where we put all the dates of the month and then go back and edit them with our current weight. You can do the same on your next post. Everyone does things differently. I have always posted my calories/weigh in. That way I could track it and see at what calories I lost at, etc.

AKA8941 Congrats on the (L) shirts! :carrot: I don't know about changes. This will sound odd, but there have been so many but yet, it all comes back to the basics. I have to eat and workout in a way that I live with. I have to keep doing what I was doing to lose the weight in the first place. It's not like I got to my goal weight and then I can go back to the way that I used to eat. That whole mental thing has to change. Sometimes my Mom/family will push food on me. Before I would have just eaten it. I have to stand up for myself and say "no" to them. It may hurt their feelings for a few seconds, but they will get over it. I really like my weight and where I am. I hope I can keep the weight off long term (rest of my life ;)). But it all comes back to the basics and that old (original) mindset has to change forever.

AKA..yes I get that runners "high" for a while after I run. Also it feels good when I just fly by someone who is much smaller that I am while I am at the track. I definately enjoy being more athletic since losing weight. I was pretty athletic at 289 as I could hold my own on the BB court even at that weight. But now the jumping ability it a lot better. Still can't dunk at 10 feet, but I put my son's rim at 9 to 9 1/2 feet and it is on! Two hand reverse dunks! So maybe after another 15 to 20 pounds I might be close to dunking at 10 feet.

I weigh now what I did when I was a Junior/Senior in high school and was a 3 sport letterman.

I am back to 255.6 which is where I was a few days ago. Looks like the sodium is finally gone which is a relief. I'd like to be under 255 by my weigh-in on Friday, which I think should be do-able.

Sorry for the lack of personals ... I have house-guests (parents & grandparents) until Tuesday, so between that and working, my online time is very limited. I'm trying to make good choices regarding FOOD (in my family food is the center of attention, food = love) and sneaking in workouts during my lunch hour.

Anyway, enough blah blah blah about me. How are all of you doing?? :D

So you all know that I didn't weigh in yesterday, but guess what I saw this morning?!?!?!?! 199.1 Booyashaka!!!!!!!! This is down 1.8 from my WI two days ago, and TOM is still here.

I'm super excited, because we did end up staying at MIL's for dinner, so watching my foods earlier in the day really paid off. On a side note, I think something was off about MIL's food though, from the time we got home last night until I left the house this morning, I had to go like 3 times. And not just me, hubs got out of bed 4-5 times last night to go as well. :barf: Eek. I hate eating there. Whatever, that doesn't change my excitement though!!!! Oh and by the way, baby is super cute and tiny (she was a month early) but absolutely adorable!

Now that I'm back in Onederland, I've got to make sure that I don't screw it up :dizzy:

ETA: I just realized that I'm back at my ticker weight, yay!

I am having a crap, crap month. 178.8 this morning which is fine and all - it's my head. I am so so stuffed up I want to cry almost. I hardly ever get like this, and here I am can't smell, no appetite, head throbing, throat hurts.
I drank 4 litres of water yesterday, 4 litres!! I would have had more if i wasn't too tired and sore to get out of bed.

And here I am, at work . . . why? Because there are office renovations being done that are just bad, so so bad in design and I'm putting my foot down and making a stink about how it's going to affect my day to day function. I'm not amused by it.

off I go into the meeting to state my opinion, kleenex, tea and water in hand.

Sigh.

Good Morning All.

So my scale rewarded me today. Down 2 lbs. :yay: I think it's because of the sleep. 7 hours the past 2 nights. School work is going well. I think I am finding the right time for me to do it. I wake up UNGODLY early. I was up at 530 this morning. But let me tell ya, I got 2 quizzes, 2 discussions and some reading done in just over an hour! It was amazing. The key to all of this will be me going to bed no later than 10:30 every night during the week. I will try for that on the weekends, but we all know how difficult it can be when you have plans. But I feel that if I can focus on that goal and achieve it atleast Mon - Fri, I will be in a much better spot with my weight and all of these fluctuations recently.

I also realize that I need to reign it in again with the snacking. A bite of this and a small piece of that really adds up and still exists even if I don't write them in my journal! LOL Don't mind me...I was SUPER pre-TOM emotional mess girl yesterday. Being that way helped me face things I didn't really want to and the fact that this summer, while AMAZINGLY GREAT, has been a real bump in the road for my weightloss journey. Now, I'm just getting myself back together and reeling it all back in to where it needs to be for my usual focus.

Thanks for letting me rant!!! I didn't know that I needed to! LOL

crainjo - I get a similar pop just under my skin sometimes. It's not just my abdomen, it happens all over and is a little bit painful for a split second and then just kinda crackly, for lack of a better description, for a few seconds and then it's gone. I never had it until I started losing weight and the doc couldn't tell me what it is, but she's not worried as long as all my tests come back normal and it doesn't start becoming extremely frequent. I like your fat combustion idea, I think I'll go with that.

Jami - Congrats on the new low!

Gale - I'm sorry about sick kiddos and a sick you, I hope you all feel better soon.

Angie - I'm so glad for him being out of that cast. I can't eat just a salad at lunch, I usually have to have something warm with each meal, not sure why.

Mandy - My concern would be that it may be difficult for you to stay on plan, wouldn't you have to host parties and such where there would be lots of yummy off plan food? I don't think I could do that and lose weight. I'm almost always over on my protein and fiber.

Ona - I love that video and the song. It also gives me a small idea in my head of 'how dare I not run/dance/etc. when so many who would want to can't and I can'.

Vixsin - Your dinner sounded yum!

aka - I did W2D2 yesterday. It was a bit ouch since I'm still getting used to the new shoes, but it felt so good when I was done.

Aimee - Yay for the scale treating you nicely and for on plan choices.

travelgal - Some people post a list at the beginning of the thread. I don't put one because I learned that I will never remember to go back and update it anyhow. I just post my weight each day and what the change is from the day before. Most of us have a goal for the month which we post at the beginning. There is also a lot of chitchat in here as you will soon learn, we talk about everything. Also, there's no reason for you to wait until October, join us now.

Kukkie - Congrats! :yay:

Coondocks - I hope you feel better soon and that you can get some things changed with the lousy renovations. Have you been to see a doc?

why can't I get a whoosh when I need it! At any rate -- down 1.2 (from 215.6 to 214.4) -- amazing how you can gain 4lbs in 1 day and it will still take 2-4weeks to get it off -- still trying to catch up to my ticker

I actually ate everything I wanted yesterday, minus a McD's fry and an orange and chocolate Hostess cupcake (one of each) I can't eat all 4 I'd be nauseous from the sugar. But I'll go add them up and tell you later. My son loves stove top stuffing. I love the Pepperidge Farm Herb Stuffing, but you have lots of preparation for that. Cooking the giblets and gizzards with onion, celery and sage. Oh so good :drool: Now I'm ready for Thanksgiving :) Good job on the .7 down yesterday, and way to go Josh for helping you stay OP (but not knowing it) :D

I don't want to be in the 170's and I definitely don't want to be stuck in the high 170's because I know I can and will surely kiss 180. That is a :nono:. So wish me luck on my venture and I hope I will be happier with myself soon. Going to add in all of the crap I ate yesterday on MFP.

I just ate my body weight in Chinese food. I'm sick w/ a cold and sore throat and random sweats and am having trouble controlling my eating. I guess I just want to feel better...but the food isn't helping. Doctor time.

Hi All!

Thanks for the lovely welcome! And you're right, there's no reason to wait until October since I'd still like to lose a few lbs by then!

Anyways, my starting weight this time around was 237.8 (my highest ever :-( ), last week I officially weighed in at 234.6 and today I unofficially weighed in at 233.2! (-1.4)

My new plan is to unofficially weigh in every day (including the weekends--yikes!) to keep me more accountable and on track every day and my official weekly weigh-ins are fridays first thing in the am. In an ideal world, I'd like the hit the high 220s by next friday September 30, but I'm going to have to work hard at that.

Anyways, I'm so glad to have found this community! I'm really excited for this daily accountability! Happy Wednesday all!

I am up 5.4lbs for the month :( according to MFP, if I ate like this everyday, I'd weigh 191lbs in 5 weeks. That is NOT going to happen.

:woohoo: Yes! Down 1.6 to 200.8 today. I think that is remarkable since I had a 1700 calorie day with lots of sodium yesterday. I hope it's my 100g carb plan working for me. Totally on plan today as well, so I'm pushing for a number that starts with a 1 in the next couple of days.

Aimee -- That's great news that you and Josh are in sync on wanting kids. Will that be sometime soon, or is this more long term planning?

Jami, good job on the .5 down :) You'll hit that mini goal in no time. I am so happy for you, You are working this out, way to go Lady:high: How does your son feel about getting braces? I know some children think they're cool and others are quite upset. I don't want to say what I'm doing because even though I'm not a superstitious person, I kid you not, every time I mention something here and start out well, I do something totally stupid to screw it up. I told my husband this morning and he didn't comment at all so it's like I told no one, which is good. But when my day comes I will tell you all to look back to 9/21 and remember that I said I am gonna do something new, which isn't new, I'm just gonna do, if that makes sense. Thanks for the good vibes, I sure need them. I had a weigh loss prayer in one of my old journals from when I did the Jorge Cruise 3 hour diet but I can't find it. It sure helped to read it every morning :) It gave me that boost of inspiration that I so need. :)

I need to figure out how often I screw up and see if there is some way to reward myself when I don't after so many days. But I don't know what the reward would be. I have to figure out something to keep me on the straight path. Right now my goal is to do right for 3 days straight and on the 4 day which will also be the 1st day of the 3 days maybe I'll get some steamed crab :drool: hope the crab guy sticks around for a while. Lets see how that goes, this is day 1 ... sorry this is me thinking out loud and putting it on paper per say :D

Rennie: Is there any way to reward yourself without that reward being food? As a society, we seem to celebrate food. I was just listening to Jillian Michaels' podcast about not rewarding ourselves with food because it sends the message that we "deserve" it, are entitled to it and whatnot. What about if you achieve your goal, could you maybe get a new nail polish or treat yourself to a walk in a great location?

Wow! I'm so impressed with all of you who WI daily.:D I think the concept is great, but I personally have problems with the execution. I literally become obsessed with making the scale move, and when it doesn't, I find myself either finding the first piece of cheesecake or pastry I can get my hands on or thinking of all kinds of crazy extreme ways to make the numbers go down. :o Either way, not healthy for me. Congratulations on all your success! :carrot::carrot:

onami, what do you mean by "another 3 miles"? Is that something you are doing outside of "gym day"?

UGH! I really wish TOM would start and leave already. My hands are so swollen (my rings were to the point of falling off, right now they don't even spin and are leaving indents in my finger). Not super worried about the lack of weight change. Yesterday was a great day. Good food choices. Good work out. Lots of water. Also, TMI, but no BM for 2 days probably makes that a false-ish number. I'm hoping the OD on fiber yesterday will help with that. ONWARD!

Roxy - I'm so weird with food... I have a hard time resisting if people are pushing it in my face, but if I make it and am pushing it on others? I can totally stay away from it. There's no mystery to it, I know what it is and how it tastes etc. Plus, they do have nutritional info on everything... so I can just budget calories for the day.

Jami - through the end of September the start up price is $85 (50% off the normally $170!) and that gives you enough product and supplies (order forms, etc) to do 4 parties. I still have a few days to think about it, but I'm almost sure I'm gonna go for it and try something new. At 30% commission, I could likely break even in any case :)

Thanks Vixsin :hug: the only reason why I said seafood is because I love it and don't get it that often so I figure that would be something to look forward to, now getting my husband to fork out $20+ every 3-4 days for something he doesn't eat will be interesting. (but you're right now a good reward until maybe the end of this promise to ME). That's a thought. I did think about the nail polish and pedicure but I get that every two weeks so that's out. I don't know what a good reward would be. I have to set myself up to do great every 3-4 days because it's like I'm a 40 something year old kid, I can't do right for long and I have no idea why. I have more than enough support from you all and I still can't get it right, just frustrating and aggravating. But thank you and know that I do appreciate you thinking about me :hug:

Okay so my girlfriend from work and I decided to experiment with spaghetti squash for lunch today. Neither of us have had it before. I followed HG's Spaghetti Swap & Meatballs for Two recipe for preparing the squash but she brought in some homemade sauce for us. My official opinion...

BOOYAH! That was freaking delish! And at 42cals for 1c of spaghetti squash vs. over 200 for 1c of spaghetti noodles...you just can't beat it! :drool: So overall, it was a very filling & tasty lunch that was super low cal. (Which is good since I indulged in one of the office donuts this morning. :o)

Angie -- YAHOO! You are following the congo line behind Kukkie right into ONEderland girl! So freaking proud of you!

Rennie -- I totally understand about the secrecy. I wish you the best of luck my friend!! Right now I think DS is kind of excited...though he keeps saying he'll look like a dork. But secretly, I think that the thinks it'll be cool. We'll see though. For your reward, I think you should reward every good choice. Take a penny, nickle, dime, quarter, dollar whatever and put it in a jar everytime you make a choice that bring you closer to your goal. Like a curse jar. :)

crainjo -- I hear what you're saying about the legs being tired. I've been doing a challenge at my gym for 6 weeks now and this past Monday...I was SO tired! After five minutes my limb felt as tired as they usually do after 1/2 hour. Yeesh...that was a tough one. Good for you for taking it easy and listening to your body!

Mandy -- That deal doesn't sound too bad. Plus it'll give you some new idea for spicing up your meals at home. Sorry that scale still isn't budging! You'll show it who's boss! :sumo:

Gale/Mandy - I'm not a gamer by any means but I do get drawn into them every so often by my DS and DH. My all time fav though is Katamari Forever on PS3. I play that one until my thumbs hurt. And then once, DH and I played Super Mario Bros 3 for the Wii all weekend until we beat the entire game! :lol:

Angie -- Okay, I'm definitely starting C25K on October 10th. I even found a 5k in town the Saturday of the 9th week! Kind of excited about this. Not sure yet if I will mention this to my family yet. Not sure why I'm hesitant...but I am. :)

Mandy - I'm not so much an RPG person but I love FPS games. DH gets somewhat into RPGs, but not on the computer (per my request, lol!) I can see how those could be super addictive, it's one reason I've never started and the reason DH doesn't play too many of them. I think his last one was Fall Out 3. We're XBox people as a rule, but Jami, we did the same thing with Mario on the Wii! The Mario games are the sole reason we own a Wii, we don't actually own any other games for it hahaha!

Not too shabby tonight, if I do say so myself! LOL

Dinner was on the snackier side... truthfully because I didn't have too many calories for it. I indulged in a sliver of lemon cake at work today. Literally 4 bites. So good but I gave it 150 cals just to be on the safe side. And I had 2 SMALL spoons of PB. Decent dinner though....greek yogurt with cereal and a string cheese.

Also managed a fairly decent workout today. I did Bob's 20 min strength and then went down and did a quick 25 mins on the tread. I did intervals. Trying to remember C25K. I remembered one being walk 1 min and run 90 secs I think. anywho, that's what I did and I used the speed of 5.5 this time. That was a nice challenge. I think I am going to keep it at that speed. I'd love for that to be my "normal" running speed. 5.0 ALMOST feels too slow. We shall see. No running tomorrow. I may do Yoga or more strength. I LOVE Bob's 20 min workout. It's amazing.

I can feel myself getting hungry but that is because I am getting really tired. In bed on time for sure tonight!! YAY!!! I'll be up way too early in the morning to do some more schoolwork. I'm going to finish up my water and head to bed!!

Hi Everyone! :wave:

I got home just in time to watch Survivor tonight. I won't be able to do personals tonight.

I'm not particularly pleased with dinner tonight. DH ordered crab dip as an appetizer. I love crab dip at this place. We don't normally eat appetizers in the first place. But anyways, I had some of the crab dip w/crackers. I ordered grilled chicken. This was not a good choice at a seafood restaurant. The grilled chicken breast was very tender and juicy. You may be saying, well what's wrong with that? It seemed too juicy and tender. ;) I'm thinking they used some meat tenderizer and some other junk. I tend to be sensitive to that type of stuff. We'll see how it goes tomorrow. I am hoping that my calories were at maintenance and not over. I was hoping to go eat at the steakhouse on Friday. I will probably eat there no matter what. :D

ETA: Calories came in at approx 1770 + :coffee2:

OK first let me say coming from Bible Study and passing every kind of food you could think of was crazy. My little one wanted to stop every where, but I kept saying NO. But I want something to eat. I don't have any grapes that I want to eat. I sent my daughter to the store, she sends her brother in for my grapes and they are not firm enough and taste like sour dirt :barf:

Angie that maybe the reward period. If I do what I have set out to do by the time I say I will, I want a day at the spa and lunch at tropical smoothie and salad creations. I have never been inside a spa and I have never had a message. Nope DH doesn't know how, and I don't think he'd be a good candidate for me to give me a massage ;). Jess -- You just cut the squash in half and then scoop out the seeds...then either put in in the microwave for 10 minutes or so, or in the oven for 30-40 minutes. You'll know it's done when you can use a fork to pull it apart into strings. My family likes it with just a little butter, salt and pepper, but it's also great with tomato sauce. One of my cousin's sautee's it with garlic after baking it. BTW -- Thank you, but it was Kukkie who saw 199 today, not me :) (I'm working on it)

Thanks Jess, I cooked mine by cutting it in half length wise and taking the seeds out that I could get out, sprayed the baking tray with olive oil and baked it face down. This is Diana's way and it came out great. Diana I need you to add what temp to bake it at and for how long, I don't remember. But it came out great and it last in the fridge. And thanks for the vote of confidence, it is much appreciated :hug: Hope you have a great weigh in tomorrow :crossed:

Angie thanks I'm gonna try it sauteed with garlic add some tomato sauce and maybe a little lean 90/10 ground beef or TVP tomorrow. thanks for the lunch idea :hug: good night Friend :)

I am down another pound today to 188.4. Slowly but surely getting back to my ticker. I am glad about that.

I def want to workout today. I feel a little sore from Bob last night but I think I am going to go back at it again today and do the strength/cardio combo again. That strength workout felt seriously good. I'm also going to print the C25K schedule today and get on that train. It felt so good to run at 5.5 last night.

Feeling overwhelmed today about money. I am behind in bills and I feel like I have no clue how I got this behind. I know all I can do is go to work and collect my paycheck but today is just a day where it all feels far too heavy on the single mom who gets no fatherly assistance and has to shoulder everything on her measly paycheck. It just sucks and I HATE feeling like this. I can't ask to borrow anything because I feel that I have exhausted all of the avenues.

Honestly, if I could, I would get on my treadmill right now and just RUN!!

I'm ok...just b**tching. I'm just frustrated.

I'll try to shake this off and be back a bit later. :)

By the way today is the birthdate of my Grama who passed away back in March. I think I've mentioned before that she struggled with her weight for at least the last 50 years of her life so it's particularly sweet for me to have reached this milestone today. :goodvibes

I found a new tool called calendarbudget.com and I love it – it lets me see my money in a calendar format so I can look out at the month and know in advance when things will be tight and that way I can manage things differently. It’s working for me, I’m feeling more in control about money and that makes me stress less. :hug: If you have cc debt, have you considered looking into a consolidation loan? I did that last year and now I pay 3% interest and a reasonable repayment rate rather than 19-25%. Feel free to PM me here or on FB if you want to swap ideas or chat in private about this.

I'm back down the .4 to 160.2. I'm getting tired of this 160, I want my 159! I ended up doing all most 4 hours of exercise yesterday and then I slept. I think that is maybe the fastest I have fallen asleep without being sick in my entire life. Tomorrow and Saturday I am to help with a fish fry the church is doing, I need :dust:

Rennie - I think you could handle C25K week 1, the runs in week 1 are only for 60 seconds and nobody says you have to run fast. That was my problem the first time I ever tried C25K, I would basically sprint during run time and then I was never able to do all of the runs. Once I let myself run more slowly and decided that speed could come later it became easier. Whatever your new thing is I hope it works for you.

aka - I hope you are feeling better today. I haven't run yet today. I'm waiting for the afternoon. I landed funny during one of my plyometrics jumps yesterday and I want to give my foot a few more hours before I run on it, but I will be doing W2D3 later today. As for the shoes, it's not just that they are new, I completely switched types. I have vibram fivefingers now and they completely change the way you run. At first my calves were killing me. It's getting better now though and I haven't had a single shin splint or ankle pain since I got them (I used to be plagued by both when I tried to run). I have a 5K mud run October 29. I do not need to even come close to winning, but I'd really like to not be last.

Jami - Yikes on expensive braces! Baby teeth and braces? Goodness they put those things on early these days. I'm happy for you that you have discovered a love for spaghetti squash, that stuff is sooo yummy!

Angie - I'm glad the low carb seems to be working for you. :congrat: on hitting onederland! :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Mandy - If you can do it and stay on plan then it's worth a shot, I just wanted to make sure you had thought about that part. Good luck with it.

Jess - I cut spaghetti squash in half lengthwise and remove seeds, then I put it on a microwavable dish cut sides down with some water on the dish and microwave for 5 minutes at a time until tender. Sometimes I add some seasonings to the dish depending on what I want to do with the squash. When it is cooked you just use a fork to remove all the strands of squash from the skin, scraping sideways. I often use it as the base for casseroles.

Vixsin - I'm sorry about the budget issues. I know the feeling. I'm not working right now and I don't want to go get a job until we know what age children we will be adopting so that I know what kind of schedule I'll need. We can pay the bills on his check, but there are so many other things being left undone and it's driving me nuts.

Coondocks - Stupid scale! :hug: When I was teaching and having a lot of reading to do I would sometimes read and march in place or pace while I was reading. Maybe you could get a little exercise in while you study that way?

I had a major bounce back today, 2.2 gain this morning so back up to 201.3 and all I want to do is kick, scream and cry. I can't believe I actually contemplated not posting today, because I'm so disappointed. I don't even know what it's from. I was OP yesterday with food and water, so what gives. But I'm not going to kick, scream, or cry, I'm just going to do what I've been doing, stick to my calories, drink my water, and keep going. :dunno: What else can I do?

9/22/11-- 234.2-->that's a bit of a bummer, but I don't think/hope it's not a full lb weight gain. I think it's water weight? However, I didn't go to the gym yesterday and can't go today either, and I think that definitely effects my weight and how much I stay on track. Starting this weekend I am definitely working on going the gym a minimum of 4 days a week, because I think that will help keep me much more focused and on track.

Also, someone asked me yesterday what plan I'm following--basically I'm trying to eat within 1200-1300 cals a day and workout 4-5 times a week for ideally a loss of about 2 lbs a week, though I haven't quite gotten into the proper schedule and rhythm yet. That's really my goal for this coming week, getting more into a weightloss/gym/food routine.

Tomorrow's my official weigh in for the week, and I'm hoping it's a bit better than today! Anyways, happy thursday!!

calories 1,450 carbs 199 protein 54 sodium 2,500, I'm trying to stay lower on calories and keep the protein high and the sodium under 1000 if possible until I know I have some control again :)

Ona I bought some reduced fat olive oil mayonnaise today. :)

OK got up this morning 2lbs down. It's not a whoosh it's the two days of calories in one day leaving. And my body thanking me for not doing it again. Today I am at 176.8. I love the MFP ticker because when you update your weight on MFP it automatically updates here also. Oh and I went to Curves burned 396 calories on the circuit of what it would allow me to do using the Curves Smart, but I go around a third time and you can't use Curves Smart for that. So I'll have to add the additional 15 minutes into MFP and see what I get :) Off to a great start thus far, but the day is still very young, so I'm not gonna count my chickens before they hatch.

I was pleasently surprised with my WI this morning: down 2 pounds. :D I was sure I hadn't since we stopped my metformin, and I totally need that to help me lose the weight. I started some natural suppliments last night that are supposed to help with insulin resistance, so hopefully I can stay on track.

Angie, hips aren't so sore today, but I haven't worked out yet... :dunno:

Rennie - I am doing my c25K outside, I have a good podcast with some hip hop with a good beat and she breaks into the music to tell me when to walk and when to run. If doing it on a treadmill it would be the same, just change the speed for run time and then put it back down when it's time to walk again.

I ran 2 miles this morning and will try to run another 3 this afternoon. But I have to take my oldest girl to the doctor. So hopefully everything will work out so I can get a run in this afternoon. Tomorrow will be a no cardio day again, since I will be running a race Saturday morning. But will hit the gym and do some upper body strength training.

I had to take my youngest son to the doctor this morning, so that was why I only ran 2 miles. I had a open face sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich for breakfast, and had half a cup of no fat refried beans with some salsa for lunch. So I think I am at mabe 500 calories so far today. Angie I have looked at other crispbread/crackers and they all have some sort of nuts, seeds, soy etc. in them (I'm avoiding that stuff). The main selling points for me with these is that it says appetite control, they are high fiber, low carb, and low calorie. The reason I am wanting something for appetite control is that sometimes I get hungry between lunch and dinner, after I do my workout. I don't want to eat snacks or more food. I am going to try to add one of these to my lunch. I know it takes fiber a while to make you feel full. So, I am thinking that if I eat it at lunch it will probably kick in within a few hours. That should carry me until dinner. Also, the added fiber should be good for me. Also, it's only 12 calories, so that won't make any difference in my calories/plan. I was reading online about these things and someone made mention about a laxative effect. :o The English Muffin I have at breakfast has 30% fiber, the flat/thin bread at lunch has 20% fiber. Neither of these have ever bothered my stomach. One of these crispbreads will add an additional 20% fiber to my day. That will take me to 70%, so I'm thinking I will get at least 100% of my daily fiber when I take into account the veggies I eat. There may be a difference between the fiber I am currently getting vs. the bran fiber crispbread. So, here are my new questions:

1: Do you feel the bran crispbread filled you up (appetite control)?
2: Did they cause you to have any stomach problems (laxative effect)?

I had one of the crispbreads at lunch. I put a little of my Greek yogurt on top and ate it. It wasn't bad at all. I can see the resemblance to sawdust, though. :rofl: The Greek Yogurt made it palatable. If it will help to carry me over to dinner, I think it will be doable for me and a good addition.

Coondocks - Not super woman, just totally love children and have always know I wanted a career that helped them. My degree says I am supposed to be a teacher, but with the way the public schools are run these days I don't feel I can truly help children by doing that.

Diana - I have not eaten those particular crackers, but I have had similar ones made with bran and never had a problem (and I also eat Fiber One for breakfast, tons of veggies, and occasionally a fiber bar as a snack).

I had a super frustrating morning today. I had to be on time to Bible study this morning, I promised I would be. It was brunch day and I was bringing the tortillas for the burritos. So, I get ready to go, get the kids loaded up in the car and it doesn't start. My stinking Suburban is dead as a doornail. :( I am so blessed to have good friends that lent me a car for the weekend (we can't get it looked at until Monday.) I also had a friend pick up my tortillas and take them up to Bible study for me, and my mom lent me her car so I was able to go and was only 20 minutes late. The 'Burb breaking is not a huge deal, except that we are flat broke right now and can't afford another car repair. I keep telling myself that the worst case scenario is that we have to wait a couple of months to get it fixed and DH has to ride the bus to and from work. It's not that big of a deal, it's just frustrating. First world problems, right? :)

Alright ladies, I'm back. I've been having a tough month. I know we all have been there and done that. I took it out on my eating habits of course. The biggest issue with "on plan" I'm having right now is that I've been at it for a few months and not really seeing the results I should be. So, I've been feeling like I need to re-evaluate a little but not sure what changes to make. Work has also been terribly stressful and I've had tons to do outside of work. I can't imagine doing all this with children so I think ya'll who have kids and work and manage all the other stuff are heroes.

Anyway, I'm back at it. Just in time to go out for a birthday celebration at Olive Garden with friends (their birthdays, not mine). But, I'm ordering from the kids menu if possible and passing up the 350 cal a serving salad that tastes so yummy. I will hopefully get my act together enough to see a few pounds down by the end of the month.

To anyone else who is having a hard time... you're not alone!

Attribute having been extremely tired(been in bed all day),crazy eating schedule yesterday(family business) and most of my daily sodium really late.I'm up 1.2 today to 175.8.Feeling much better and ready to fight another day.

My husbands truck is in the shop again something with the suspension. It's been there since Monday. He took it to the same people that fixed it the first time. Hope they fix what they broke (made worse). Hope you get yours fixed soon also. Glad you have great friends around you, along with your Mom. It sure helps :hug:

kwigg good job on the 1.2lbs Gone :high: The hardest part for me is wanting to eat what I fix for my family and not being able to control my portions. I love my cooking. Glad you're back and hope you get things figured/sorted out soon :) OG salad is delicious it's sad they haven't come up with a less calorie version.

'course, i'm not *really* gonna do that. i was just miffed. patience will pay off and i WILL have a whoosh soon... right?

Ona I didn't know there was low sodium tuna and I can't eat crackers remember? What brand of tuna is it? I have been buying the tuna pouches (they have 230mg of sodium). Crackers are a major major trigger food for me. But I do want to try the crisp things Diana and Angie have been talking about.

Everyone is fine. The baby had to go a final fitting for some braces for his feet. He has alignment issues related to positioning in the womb. My daughter had a bad rash that I took her to the dermatologist for.

Ok for supper, I had a half of a small smoked chicken. Tried to stay away from the skin as much as possible. But it sure was good. We will see how it effects the scale in the morning.

As soon as my supper settles, I am going to run my 3.

I think I may have figured out why I gained this morning. Last night when I made dinner, I used regular salt, instead of my normal half salt. I could totally be making this up, but maybe the extra sodium caused the water retention. I tried to flush it out with extra water today, so I'm hoping that with the really good day I had today, the scale better reflect this tomorrow!

No shrimp for dinner tonight. I stopped over at a friends house and that ran late so I didn't have the time to make it. Maxwell and I still had our "date" to have our dinner on the couch and watch last night's premiere of Modern Family. We love that show. It was awesome. It was a much needed smile after an emotional day.

I'm also not doing any type of school work this evening. I am taking the next 54 minutes and watching something mindless on my computer and then I am going to bed at 930! I'll be up bright and early for schoolwork in the morning.

Thanks for the hugs today, gang! They felt really, really good! :grouphug:

Rennie I still got hungry today, even though I ate the crispbread (cracker). I think there are 10 in a package. I will eat them until they are gone and make a decision on them from there. I saw your post to Ona about wanting to try them. I want to make sure you know they are nothing like a regular cracker. :lol: Twigs, sawdust, mulch, hay are all very good descriptions. ;) That doesn't bother me since I put something else on them. They were a little under $4 for a package.

RANT* My roommate is bugging the crap out of me. I can't get away from it!!

FitGirly-Are you on W2D2? I'm doing it on a combo, some nights on the running trails and other nights on the indoor track. They both have merit.
Mandy- sometimes I literally pray for TOM to come and go. Like, on bended knee.
Crainjo-Nice run! Nice parenting too!

W2D2 is DONE! Yaaay! I did it on the indoor track today so I could watch the weight lifters. I know I'm a perv. It went well, and I continued on for a good 15 minutes after I was done, just doing my own thing.
I've been popping vitamin C tablets (placebo) and resting so I should be getting rid of this sore throat soon and get back on the losing side of things.

Ok everyone, pray as hard as you can and cross your fingers until your knuckles are white. You know how close we are to being officially able to match to children. Tonight we learned of a set of 4 siblings that have been in foster care for a year and are living in 2 different foster homes. They did a news story on them and one of my friends called to tell me. I looked them up on the website and read the printed version of the story and it is just heartbreaking. 3 boys - 9,7,and 2 and a girl - 4. When I read a quote from the older boy to my husband, he cried. The boy said, "You don't have nobody to watch over you or anybody to help you or anything like that". The 2 older boys have been taking care of the little ones their whole lives and now they are separated from them and it just kills us.
