I am doing WW at home and would like a buddy or two to help overcome the hurdles with weight loss. I am hoping to lose about 60lbs in total...I am looking for people who are willing to share thier triumphs, thier struggles..and we can help motivate each other...cause there are days when we wanna give up but having a buddy can help overcome that :D

Welcome nursemandi! We are all striving and looking for the same thing...Help with motivation, support when things get tough and just an overall sounding board at time.

I know I am in here for the long haul and so are many others..check out the sept to oct challenge and join it it is a great way to post your victories and frustrations plus a way to challenge yourself by setting your short term goal and going after it

I'd love to join you guys! I teeter back and forth with my weight - and it's driving me NUTS! I'm scheduled for a hysterectomy next summer (when school's out) so I really need to loose some weight before my surgery (so I can hopefully heal quicker and have less complications!). We have started a "fitness challenge" at work, and I do ok when I'm there, but when I get home I eat JUNK! I need someone to kick my tail into gear! I have about 100 extra pounds to drop, but would be tickled with just a steady loss!
I'm Kristi, 38, from TN. Married to my Prince and we have 1 grown son who lives in Georgia (he's in school there). (I was a child bride :) )

I hear you about the teethering...man oh man, it's been one tough road but I am more committed than ever this time.

I am 33, married, with two children. I live in ON, Canada :) I have been following WW at home for 8 weeks now and I am down a total of 24lbs :D I am almost to my second mini goal of 10% of my weight...it's so close I can taste it, hahahaha.

This time around I am so very careful with writing EVERYTHING down that I eat...it's made a world of difference. Weighing my food has also been a good thing, yes, it may be a lot of extra work but so worth it, IMO ;)

I am looking forward to getting to know new people who know what the struggles are with weight loss.....

how long have you been on the program? what's your mini goals?

I've been off/on/off/on/off the program so many times it makes my head swim! I'm still trying to get back on - so I came here, looking for the motivation I need to jump in with both feet! My biggest problem is journalling - I KNOW it's SO important and is VERY beneficial, I just have the darndest time doing it faithfully - every day - all the time! Also, my weakness is kid cereals - I love them...and when I get home from work in the afternoons, I have a bowl er...1/2 box - whichever you want to call it...and I love love love sweets and starches....total weaknesses! So I guess my mini goals would be to journal faithfully and honestly, and to find other options for snack in the afternoons (or at least keep my cereal to 1 serving and count the points!).

LOL...yeah definately dipping into the goodies after a stressful day of work is one of the hardest things I am trying NOT to do. I am an emotional eater, so whether I am happy, sad, mad, angry..whatever I wanna eat :S I have been trying to cut back on the night time snacking and I find that when I am watching TV, it's soooo much worse. Those darn commercials make me wanna eat..that's not good :P
You're weakness is the sweets and my weakness is the SALT. I love me some potato chips...yummy!! I could forego the sweets no problem but try and pull me away from the salty snacks and I will go crazy like a mad woman...BUT I am TRYING to avoid those...but they are certain times of the month that I just can't control myself...it's like they call my name....bah...i try to ingore it but sometimes its just too much...ohh I sound a little batty for the salt...maybe I need to stop talking about it:?: LOL.

yay!! I am so glad to hear that you guys are on the right track :) WW for me is by far the BEST thing I could have done. I have been on and off the WW wagon for a few years and after I went to nursing school, all my weight that I had lost slowly crept back on and then I was the heaviest I had ever been in my life...it took a family vacation and a snapshot of me to see how bad it really was...it was def my rock bottom :( But I have been following WW at home (on my own) for 11 weeks (just had my 11th weigh in today) and I am down a total of 28lbs :D So my first mini goal of losing 10% of my weight was done last week :)

Although, I still feel like I am the same person I was 28lbs ago. My clothes are definitely the best way for me to see the weight loss but I have a hard time noticing it on myself...is that the same for everyone?

What are your mini-goals?
Where is everyone from? family? kids?
I am happy to have people who are going through the same daily struggles...we can do these!!!:carrot:

nursemandi Sounds like you are getting places :) Its nice to hear how much you have lost in such a short time. I know what you mean about weight sneaking up on you and seeing photos and being shocked. Its what woke me up again.

Well my "story" is I got pregnant with DD and now she is 3 so no more this is baby weight. lol Actually its been pretty stressful as DD has brain damage due to medical negligence resulting in cerebral palsy and quadriplegia among other things. She doesn't sleep well and so my moods go up and down with lack of sleep and other stressors. I lost 30lbs last year but last sept DD got really sick and I gained 25 of it back over the entire year from emotional eating. I am just tired of be uncomfortable and not fitting into my old clothes and I just want to be the hot wife my husband got married to :) haha

so thats whats going on with me, what about all you ladies?

Hi! I would love to join in on this too. I just joined WW online for the first time a few days ago and so far am really liking it. Though I've never been severely overweight, I have struggled my entire life with trying to get rid of this extra 15-20 pounds I carry around. My weight definitely went up during my freshman year of college in NYC, and while I was able to lose some of that, I'm now a senior and ready to lose it all. My biggest issue is my love of sugar, carbs and desserts (in unlimited quantities). Sometimes when I'm having a really bad day I catch myself dreaming of diving into a large vat of ice cream... gross, I know.

I think it's a great idea to have this group together to support each other. We can do it!

Hi nursemandi! I joined WW locally 2 months ago and only went to 2 meetings. I'm changing to online. After seeing our Christmas photos last year (ewww) I've lost 27 lbs on my own until 8/23 when I stopped the madness (weigh in daily / exercise daily / count calories / count points / worry worry worry.) I've slowed down and maintained since August, but I'm ready to start counting again. This year my Christmas photos are NOT going to be so embarrassing!

Oh - I LOVE points! It's so much better than counting calories - takes less time and it's such a relief to know I can just grab fruit or veggies any time and not have to log it in. One thing I was shocked about is that a hard boiled egg is 5 points!

I Love points too! haha But I do struggle with not eating the sweet stuff. I had a particularly hard weekend. My dd was having spasms and other health issues. She didn't sleep for 3 days and 2 nights which meant I didn't either. And so I ate 19 of my weekly point. Which is worrisome a little. What if something unexpected happens! I guess I will just try and make it through. hope you all are doing good!

Hey folks, can I join in? I am brand new to Weight Watchers (but not to 3fc nor dieting).

I am married, have two small kids. Been overweight most of my adult life, and figure I have about 80 pounds to lose for good. I lost 50 pounds about 3-1/2 years ago, then got pregnant with my daughter and gained every bit of it back, and then some. So the good thing is, I know I can do it. :)

I started WW last week and I have had to eat out a LOT in the last week due to travel and other issues, so I think I probably should have waited to join and actually start the plan. Well, lesson learned I guess. I am learning a lot about how things work so from this point on I should be on plan and start losing.

About me: I live in Georgia, though we are soon moving to Virginia. We homeschool our kids. We have lots of pets (cats, dog, hermit crabs). And I'm not a huge fan of exercising, so I guess that's something I'll have to overcome. :halffull:

How is everyone else doing this week on the plan?

cindyb welcome! I know how disheartening it is to gain back weight you have lost, but like you said you know you can do it cuz you already have! I gained 20 lbs back of the 30 I lost last year.

So today I am not really happy with my eating. I ate 35 points when my daily limit is 29. My only issue is I have been eating over all week. I like to eat within them for a dew days perfectly atleast.

Oh well I am going to try really hard tomorrow.

Hi sun! Eating a few points over is fine if you're doing the plan with the extra weekly points. Unfortunately for me thus far, I've gone way over the daily AND the weekly points since I started last week. Today I am totally back on track.

Had a big lunch, oven-fried tilapia, couscous, roasted zucchini, and sauteed onions & apples. Yummy! For dinner I'm going to try out some quinoa. Not sure how to flavor it, so it will be an experiment for sure.

Hope everyone else is doing well with their plan today!

dewittmba: Congrats on the new little one! Wow, three girls, you are going to have your hands full.

Sounds like you're really motivated, so that's good. Hopefully you'll get back into the swing of it in no time. Are you doing the Points Plus thing? I have never tried WW before, so the PP is the only method that I know. So far I like it.

Today I ate at Subway for lunch and it wasn't too bad, point-wise. I had a 6" Veggie Delight (basically, just vegetables on your bread), no cheese, spicy mustard. If I calculated it correctly, it was only 6 points. Also had their yogurt parfait instead of chips for the side. And a bottled water. It was all very tasty and well within my normal lunch points budget.

dewitta Welcome! Way to go for getting back on the horse so soon after having your little one. It will come off so much faster if you start now. It has been three years since I had my DD and its so much harder now.

cindyb I have Subway veggie all the time. Its so convieniet and I am always out during the week days at lunch time. Way to go on keeping within your lunch points :)

NOw as for me. I have been having a horrible week. As I said DD is sick I am up to all hours here caring for her. Makes me want to eat and I am struggling with my daily points. I used alot of weekly points. Hopefully I stay within 29 points tomorrow. Its Sat and I will be home all day. We will see

Good morning folks!

sun, sorry to hear your daughter is sick. My son (he's 7) was sick and throwing up all day on Thursday. We are all very rarely sick in this family, so it was heartbreaking seeing him feel so bad. He bounced back pretty quickly though, and hopefully so will your little girl.

Tonight my husband and I have a rare night to ourselves (sending the kids to Grandma's). I think we'll go out to eat and then to a movie, so I am going to try hard to stay low on points today to save some for tonight. So far so good, had my usual breakfast of 6 points.

cindy Oh how nice a night to yourselves :) sounds so nice. Hope you are enjoying yourselves right now. How did you do keeping in your points?

Well today was and is still sooo stressful. DD is feverish and cranky. She deals with fevers alot. Sometimes on a daily basis. So I am STRUGGLING to keep in my points. I am proud of one thing though. I made up a bread with nutella and then at the last minute tossed it. Haha So crisis averted.

I am trying a new receipe from my Eat, Shrink, Be Merry cookbook tonight...I can't wait. It's a chicken teriyaki and it's only 4 points per serving!! I am sooo excited to try it, hahaha.

Would anyone be interested in posting receipes they have tried? We can start a thread on the WW @ home...I love new ideas...what do you think?

I want to join in with you guys too! I've done WW in the past, this past spring, I did the HCG diet, lost almost 30 lbs, gained 15 back on recently, ugh!!! I have at least 60 lbs to lose. Pm me.

Hey folks! Sorry I haven't checked in for a few days. I'm still trying to get into a normal routine.

Went way over my daily and weekly points again last week, but still ate better than usual so I lost 1 pound. I hope to do better this week. I think the problem is that I picked the wrong time to start WW. We are getting ready to move out of state but haven't yet learned the exact date of our move, so we're sort of in limbo. And of course, when in stress, I eat. :-( So I need to just keep plodding along, and coming here to 3fc and reading about other people's success stories really helps.

I made quinoa for the first time ever the other day. I added some crushed walnuts and dried cranberries. It was pretty good. My husband even liked it and I didn't expect him to because he doesn't like couscous and to me they are similar. If anyone has any great quinoa recipes, please share! :-)

Hello everyone! I would love to join this buddy group too. I have been doing WW online for 3 months now and have lost 26 lb so far.

The biggest hurdle I have right now is that I am unemployed. Not only am I home most of the time (and subject to temptation) but my budget is very restricted and I find it difficult to get enough fruits and veggies in.

Anybody have ideas for a good late night snack? For some reason, eating something just before I go to sleep really helps me fall asleep. So far, I have been having a slice of toast or an english muffin. Any other ideas?

I don't have any ideas for evening snack...that is the one area I have been working hard on. I can do great all day at work and up until supper at home. Then when I have a moment or two, temptation gets the better of me and I would end up blowing my points out the window for the day :S

So now I eat my dinner and then it's water for this chick ;)

So far this week has been....ok. I have been really struggling with staying on track. I have been to spin twice this week which is a positive, so yay for me, :)

How's everyone's week so far?

I need a buddy or two, badly! Someone I can communicate with daily for advise, help, and possibly to talk me out of the fast food line from time to time. I haven't started WW PP yet, because I just ordered my new books and starter kit. I was on WW many years ago, but never really gave it a chance. Now, I want to get pregnant again, and that isn't a problem, but I don't want to get bigger, and I think it would be better to lose weight before.

I am a 33 year old, married 15 years, with one 5 year old daughter, Ember. We are self employed, own a small family business, so stress rules my day to day life. Stress makes me eat. I love to bowl, do crafts, read, coupons, sweepstakes entries it what little spare time I have. I am short, 5 foot tall, but I weight in at 225 pounds. I would be okay being about 175 lbs again. I am very curvy, and I have never been skinny. It just isn't meant for me. But a size 10-12 would make me very happy! If I could lose back down to under 200, I would probably go ahead with the pregnancy again. I really don't want my kids to be too far apart.

I feel like I could lose weight easier if I went off the BC pills now. I have always felt like the contributed to my weight gain. When I started trying to get pregnant with Ember, it took less than a month, so, I am scared if I went off now, I'd be immediately preggo!

Anyway, I am a chatter box...if someone wants to be WW buddies, we can talk here, or facebook, yahoo messenger, even phone it you're not too far away from NC!

In2wishing and nursemandi- Fruit is SO filling! Therefore you eat less, ie. spend less, on snacks. The other day I opened a small can of fruit cocktail - in it's own juice -and that's what I had for an evening snack. I was really surprised that it filled me up for just 120 calories, AND that I did not crave anything afterward. (Usually I eat non-stop from 9pm to 11pm then fall into bed stuffed and disgusted with myself.) Tonight I'm going to make a sugar-free jello mold with a can of fruit cocktail. Another high water snack. Think weight when you eat - higher water content means the food is heavier (more filling.) This is why I think I can eat a whole bag of chips and still be hungry or craving. With fruit I'm so full I just can't imagine eating more. (a big apple works great too.)

Shannon - I'm 5'3 and started in January at 210 - size 22 pushing 24. I'm also wishing for a size 12... Haven't seen that in years! I've started biking, and work out at least 3 days a week at the gym. Eating right is getting easier for me. I read a few books that really helped me understand how to eat/think right. The Beck Diet Solution is one of them.

There's another girl on this site that's lost about 100 lbs and swears by pumpkin pie. I made a low fat - low sugar pumpkin cheesecake that was AMAZING - I'll post the recipe when I'm home.

Yesterday I had some food fun. A local grocery had a special on whole turkey breasts so I bought one. I roasted it and got a couple of pounds of meat for sandwiches and then boiled up the carcass and made turkey and rice soup. The soup is very filling and I used several leftover veggies (frozen peas, half an onion, etc) so the whole batch of 6 servings soup and 16 sandwiches cost me less than $10.

Evening snack update: I tried the sugar free jello with fruit cocktail and it did NOT fill me up. Also, I couldn't resist adding whipped cream - so, I don't know how many calories (afraid to count) in 1/2 of the entire bowl plus probably a cup of whipped cream from the can. Very yummy, but not a healthy snack.

I'm off to buy a few more cans of the fruit cocktail to eat solo. Oh how I hate dieting... hate it hate it hate it. Why can't I just be able to eat whatever I want? This has not been a good week for the diet.:(

gwen, i wonder the same thing "why can't I eat whatever I want" too...some people can eat terrible all the time and don't gain a thing...I look at something unhealthy and I gain 10lbs hahahaha...but seriously, I have struggled with my weight for so long..but I am learning not to compare myself to others...otherwise I would be in the looney bin :dizzy:

Gwen: perhaps you shoukld start thinking of it as a lifestyle change vs. a diet and maybe the mind set will change to where you stop hating it? Diet is like a four letter word and just thinking about it makes me want to raid my kid's halloween candy! :dizzy: Have you tried fat free whipped cream? You get more per serving and it doesn't taste any different. Hugs,don't beat yourself up...we all have days and weeks like that. Just don't be like me and have years like that! LOL :):o

How long have you been following WW? When is your weigh in day?

My weigh in day will most likely be either Friday or Saturday.I've just started counting points again today so I'm kind of a newbie all over. In 2003 i lost about 35 lbs after I had my son and it was the easiest thing ever since I was breastfeeding, so I'm hoping that this time around I am able to lose it as well. I have 35 lbs to go but will be okay with losing at least 20 lbs. I'm 165 right now,ugh,I don't even like admitting that. :o If you want to be facebook friends or email friends let me know. So, after my consciousness zapping headcold last week I've ended up 4lbs heavier than my last weigh-in. Well-that's really not all headcold gain, because it's been 2 months and just 4 lbs is really not as bad as it could be.

I'm BAAAA ACK! 1 hour on the stepper Saturday, 1 hour of tennis Sunday, and my eating is back under control. Yay me!:D

Yes, a life style change is SO what I'm trying for. If it werent for a husband that buys chocolate and nut mixes, and brings them to work so they sit and stare at me all day. Yes they do. Every time I turn around there they are staring me in the eye taunting "You want me, you want me! I have to eat them just to shut them up!

Seriously, I need more will power. Nursemandi - where can I find the WW app?

Gwen: Do you have an andriod phone? I downloaded the Points Plus Diary App for my andriod and it's the best 1.50 ever spent....I have searched on my IPOD for something like that but no such luck...so I don't know what would compare if you use an IPhone...

nursemandi what is the name of the program on android? I have the official ww mobile app but its not so great for searching for food. its free so I know its not the one you have.

So ladies I have been MIA. My dd was not doing well but she is much better now and I am finally getting sleep for the first time in 3 years, AMAZING> and she is so much happier too. So I have been on my treadmill, 2 miles in half an hour, feels good. So here I go!!!!

Yippee for getting back on track and working out. I must really strap on my shoes and get use out of the treadmill that I use as a clothes hanger,lol! I'm horrible. ;)

Do you use the WWDiary? That's the only free one that I found that actually works on my phone. I think Mandi put up above the paid app that she uses.

spare its tough for us mommies :) I use the WW mobile app. Its works well except for the search function. You can look up things by their category but I can't just type in a food and have it pulled up. Oh well not a big loss. I use my computer alot.

I weighed in today for my half week check and back down to 176 :) thank god. Lets see on Sunday. Keep going!

way to go on the loss!!! I wish I could motivate myself to move more with excercise...I managed to squeeze a few days a week of SPIN class but that's about it :( well maybe a walk or two in the evening but winter is fast approaching and it gets cold here in Canada :( LOL.
SUN THe app I use for my phone is called points plus diary

it has a list of resturants, meal builders, food items with thier point value, a place to track eating, excercise. It will also advise when it's time to decrease points when you lose into the next category (not my fav part, hahaha)
