I've been pretty quiet about my weight loss efforts. I don't want to publicize I'm trying to lose weight and then fail. Yesterday, someone asked me if I had lost weight. I felt self conscious so I just brushed the comment off with a "No, not really." but the more I think about it, the happier it makes me. Maybe others are seeing something I can't see myself. Maybe I have some tangible results. This couldn't have come at a better time. Labor Day weekend totally messed me up, and I still haven't completely recovered on the scale. That simple question gave me renewed enthusiasm and excitement to keep on doing the things I've been doing.
I like it when someone notices I've lost weight! - finally happened to me yesterday, too. A colleague said "you look like you've lost some weight" and I thanked him & clarified that "yes, I have - thanks for noticing!" It made me feel really good... and that yes, I am, finally, DOING THIS!
Way to go! It's amazing how just a few words can make you feel so empowered and energized. (On the flip side of the coin, I returned to school today and a few of my young male students told me I'd gained weight since they last saw me. Not actually true, but still not the life-affirming, "Hello! We're glad to see you again!" I had hoped for.)
Eventually when you lose a large percentage of your starting body weight (greater than 10% usually) you'll have to own up to it, but I'm sure you won't mind! I was hush hush when I started losing, but once I hit the 20lb mark (10% of my starting weight), I couldn't really deny it any longer. 45lbs in I've gotten used to fielding questions and compliments.
Love it when that happens! Ten pounds is pretty significant, so I'm glad someone noticed! Woot!! I also had someone notice my loss the other day. That surprised me because I have only lost 6 pounds. I suppose I have lost a few inches and with the exercises I've been doing, I'm developing some definition.
great! I have not told many people either... just a couple of other moms who I see all the time but my family lives a couple hours away and they have no clue.
How much weight did you lose before others noticed? That's a nice compliment as long as they go about it the right way...can be touchy...sometimes when I've noticed someone has lost weight I'm scared to say anything because they might be sick or take offense.
No one has noticed my weight loss, maybe another 10lbs or so?
Thanks everyone! I've lost almost 10 lbs. Obviously my husband has made comments, but this was the first person outside of our household to say something.
No one has commented on my weight loss, but I'm resigned to this being due to my height. I'm both excited/nervous for when it happens as I'm still not comfortable with my weight and will feel awkwardly in the spotlight as being 'less than I was, but still bigger than I'd like'. No one said it had to make sense.
But, I suspect I'll feel good about myself for the rest of the day when it happens too.
