 Welcome Friends

You've found a great place to come and vent, share or ask for prayer support.
This is a great group who will be very encouraging, caring and loving....
....anyone is welcome to join!

A Servant's Prayer --

Jesus, My Jesus....How marvelous are your ways....
Far more splendid than my mind can envision.
What an honor to be chosen by you.
A lowly child I am, but empowered by the Holy Spirit
to fulfill the great hope to which you have called me.
I give myself totally to you, Lord.
Take my imperfect heart and make it perfect.
Peel away the hardness.
Close the doors I have opened to the temptations of this world.
Gently remove the roots of painful memories, sins, doubts and fears.
Discard anything that separates me from you.
Lord, fill the emptiness with the light of your love that I might be a beacon calling the lost back to you.

To love as you love.....
To serve as you serve.....
To forgive as you forgive.....
Always mindful of my nothingness while doing great
and marvelous things in your name and for your glory.
This I pray, Jesus, in YOUR name ...

Finished dinner; just had something quick with a salad. DH is zonked and has already conked out here. He's been working very hard; oh, oh -- NIKO got stuck outside and DH just went out to rescue him. Now, he is running around and playing; full of energy ... hehe ... ;)

One of my brothers just called and is coming up for a wee holiday and to see our house; will be nice to see him again as it's been awhile. Hope he has a safe and enjoyable trip up here, as he hasn't been up here in years.

I am slowly figuring out this new pc; figured out how to make documents, etc so was able to set up this new thread for us. This laptop screen is much bigger than I expected it to be and the keys are nice and big for typing too, but they are very touch sensitive though. I'll get used to it though.

:welcome: to any and all newbies who joined while I was away for awhile.

GARY ~ you knew I was around somewhere; as long as I can get online, I will be here, for sure. We're all moved in now and so glad to be too. I explained all the confusion and issues in the last post of the August thread.

Better get this post sent as I keep accidently pressing the wrong keys and odd things are happening ... This is a long weekend in Canada -- hope everyone has a good one too. Take good care ... Rosebud :flow2:

Having a heck of a time finding the motivation to ONCE again try to get this
weight off and in typical yo yo dieting fashion each time I put more weight on so now i find myself at my all time high of 235 pounds. I can't believe I weigh as much as an NFL linebacker..sigh...I have tried all the diets, just tried HCG and lost 24 pounds and then gained 30 back. Am suffering from fatigue, emotional burnout and really having a hard time. I know now summer is over I will have to go buy bigger pants cause the pants I wore before summer won't fit now. I looked into weight loss surgery but don't have that kind of money.
There must be someone here who has felt this way or been in this situation and I would sure appreciate some advice or encouragement. Thanks so much.

:welcome: to our part of the forum; glad you found us over here, and I hope that we can give you some support and encouragement along the way. My number one motive is my health.

Well Frankie, that just about sums up many of us here, I think. We just have to keep going; there is no magic bullet or magic pill or magic surgery. Just perserverance & prayers. I am just going for healthy, balanced eating; as the yo-yo thing just doesn`t work for me, or anyone else for that matter ...

Stick around and come by often; as I think that is very important! :D

Had some rest this evening; my legs needed it. My brother should arrive sometime tomorrow; prayers for angels all around him on his journey up. My eating was pretty good today; was pleased. EAch day that I eat well, is a victory to me. We had baked chicken and veggies for dinner.

We will be taking it easy this long fall weekend; heard the geese on their way back south tonight -- bon voyage, my fine feathered friends. DH got our bird feeder back up today and heard some bird just singing her heart out that she found it again ... ;)

Have a great weekend everyone ... :flow2:

Thank you! Will for sure come by....takes a long time to realize that there is nothing but hard work that is going to get rid of this weight and then coming to the conclusion how much of it you have to lose. But it went on a pound at a time and that is how it will have to come off as well! Thanks again.

09-03-2011, 01:49 PM

Sorry for not posting :^: I have been visiting daily, thinking I will get back later to post but I don't.

Been busy here with work some days 4-6 hours and others a full day. Glad to have it, still, as projected, a lot of hit and miss here on the construction front. Just finished a delearship close to home.... :carrot: for that travel! Only 5 miles from my home compared to the 100+ I was driving...yipee! We do have some other work close too soon but nothing too big. The Lord provides!

Most of my free time lately has been babysitting my dog. She is recovering nicely from her surgery but still down for 60-90 more days other than being able go out to the backyard leashed to go potty. I think she is going nuts having to be confined to the family room....especially when she is down here all by herself and everyone else is up on the second floor where the kitchen, dining and living rooms are....she can see right up there but is baby gated off. And of course she is the "pet" one :D

An easy week-end planned other than a BBQ here on Monday.

I hope to get back later with some more news ;)

Watched that GRANDdaughter last night :cloud9: I am off next week so I can watch her tues-thurs since my sister will be in Hawaii for the week. Since the son/dil went back to school (teachers for newbies here) my sister has been babysitting her.

Welcome frankie77 :) Keep posting and jump right on in!

ROSEBUD I am so happy to see you back and hear you are all moved in...almost :D ...does that ever really happen? And also so sorry for DH's diagnoses. That is a rough one, my family is well aware of that with my grnadma. Prayers as always...even if I don't post sometimes ;) I still read!

Be back later...after the game(s)......

Be good

09-03-2011, 02:53 PM
That's right, FRANKIE ~ just focus on one pound at a time and one day at a time; seems so much less daunting that way ...

BE Back later ...

09-03-2011, 03:06 PM
This new laptop sure takes some getting used to; keeps jumping all over the place but dont know why ... and I am in FRENCH MODE again; dont know how it happens and dont know how to get out of it ... sheesh ... what a pain in the derriere ... ;) It must be some key or code I am touching. I need a pc techie or geek to help me.

GARY -- thanks for the prayers; DH was hit hard all in one day. He is out on a bike run right now as it helps keep his mind off things. He was so tired from moving and I know that affected his test results too; but we will move on and find alternative ways to deal with this.

Some family members have volunteered to take us up town about once a week or so as needed; we can pay for their gas and give them a little for their trouble too. I am making lists so we can get everything done at one time too. I think that will help a lot.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend; its nice and sunny here today. Nice temps too. I will go back and do a bit more UNpacking and sorting this afternoon and then rest my legs some more. Take good care ... Rosebud :flow2:

09-03-2011, 04:11 PM
OK, I have discovered that it's the touchpad on the laptop that is making things jump all over on me; I disabled the pad for now. You can use it as a mouse by using your fingers to move the pointer around (which is clever & very portable) but I bought a wireless mouse and am using that for mine for now.

I tried to do a search to find out how I am switching the keyboard to FRENCH MODE by accident; still no luck yet, but will keep searching until I find out the answer. It has to be out there somewhere ... ;)

UPDATE ~ Ok, I googled (or binged) and got a response; had to change the character map on my pc in system tools to "Western" to stop the keyboard from jumping back and forth between english & french. Now I just have to figure out how Windows 7 stores my favorite sites; it was much easier in Windows XP ...

09-03-2011, 10:10 PM
UPDATE ON MY UPDATE ~ well, I found where my most FREQUENTED SITES are listed; and I just found that favorites STAR in the left hand/top corner of my page -- that may be it ... let's all sing la dah, dah, dah ... ;)

I spent the night downloading some FREE songs; yes, they were free becuz I got some song cards from Highliner fish (got 10 free songs in all). That's always a nice thing. DH was out visiting his friends; making use of his bikes to get around. Now, he's zonked and wants to hit the hay.

We brought in our washer & dryer and a guy is coming to hook up the pipes next week, then we have to get in a electrician ... oh, I have so much to do; gotta write lots of lists these days.

Have a superbly Serene Sunday tomorrow ...

09-04-2011, 09:16 AM
Here is the news I couldn't share a few days ago ~

09-04-2011, 10:09 PM
Congrats GARY ~ I had a sneaky suspicion that was it; but waited for the announcement. You'll have double the fun then .... :D

Weather was cool and overcast today; fall weather for sure. The rest of the week is supposed to much nicer: fall spring days they call them. More geese flying south today; they are starting early -- that may be a sign but then the leaves are turning a bit yellow and some are even falling already. This was a short leaf year; we had a late spring, but maybe the fall will hold off a bit yet. October may turn out to be nice too.

Gotta go fix something ... ;)

I'm back for a jiffy; we had turkey with baked veggies for dinner. Made a small fruit crisp for dessert; a different mix of rhubarb & apricots with a bit of cinnamon. Was nice for a change. I make mine with less sugar & flour with some oatmeal too.

Hope all our friends here had a good day; and hope you all have a nice holiday Monday tomorrow too. Take good care ... Rosebud :flow2:

09-05-2011, 09:08 AM
Yesterday was my last day at my church. The pastor asked me to help serve communion , which I was happy to do. After service they presented me with an Icon for my new home and a couple of fun gifts as well. After service a small lunchon. I will hate to leave this church and am praying I will find one that I love as much in my new home in Davis, Ca.

09-05-2011, 10:50 AM

We have a chance of rain here today, a lot of thunder and lightning in the distance. Pretty sure it won't blow out our Labor Day BBQ though, even if we have to cancel shuffleboard and have food inside. Not too big of one this year, 17-20 people, as my daughter and the kidnapper are with his family and my sister and one of her daughters is in Hawaii with my sister's best friend, who always is here for family parties too. Should be fun always.

It was so cool to get the cal from my daughter that I could :carrot: celebrate her pregnancy...weired knowing she was but having to :sssh: so it didn't get out before the kidnappers family mention and that Facebook link we have would have gone crazy

Lazy week-end so far here. Spent most of Saturday watching the college football season kick-off games :carrot: then yesterday after church I did a few chores but didn't do much other than watch my Dodgers and wait for NASCAR to start...which it didn't 'cause of rain. Of course my wife accomplished stuff ;) she took in a yoga class after church with my stepdaughter then came home and made a bunch of eye pillows for her yoga class students.

Getting hard keeping Reba "down" here in the family room and leashed to go out side and potty...she feels so much better but we can't allow her to do ANY running or jumping or stairs! Next week we can walk her 1/4 of a block once a day.

BARGOO that is way cool on what happened at church  I can't imagine having to leave my church for good, after 30 years...but I do know when we were looking in Washington a few years back, when we built that house up there, that there are other churches out there that we felt "at home" in. We were a bit sad to say good-bye to the church family up there and we were only there for 3 months. Although when we left we had thought we would be going back in the summer but then I had my "I can't live there w/o my family" issue ;) I pray you find a great church home in Davis.

ROSEBUD Angie and I had rhubarb for the first time this summer, your crisp sounds really good! I have been buying full turkey breasts and roasting them, then using the meat for my sandwiches...way better than the lunch meat I buy and cheaper too! Happy that your computer issues are coming together. Continued prayers for your DH as you face this that I may face one day as it runs in my family.

Well, ladies have a very cool and fun day with your families :)

09-05-2011, 07:22 PM
Well, it was cool again today; but the :sunny: has finally came out to warm us up again. I hope it stays. We got some stuff done around the house; put up curtains in the bathroom, painted the rads bronze, and this morning, we built another step on the front porch as the one there was way too high for me.

We are slowly gettiing things done; there is a lot to do to get settled in a new place and it takes a while. Have to arrange for the furnace guy this week and the guy hooking up the laundry room will be here this week too. Fun, fun, fun ...

Dinner is almost ready; made pork chops in mushroom sauce with a rice & barley mix and veggies like broccoli and corn. Oh that FRENCH thing happened again; it must be shift + something code as it happens every time I am posting. I hope I will discover the ancedote by accident eventually.

Time to go check on dinner; have a great week everyone ... Rosebud :flow2:

09-07-2011, 08:14 PM
We've been blessed with warmer temps the last two days; it was beautiful out there today. Felt like a lovely June day; sat on the porch with NIKO and read a nice Christian book while DH did a run on his bike & an errand. Went up town myself to do errands & pay bills today as well.

This am, NIKO gave us a small scare; DH accidently let him out without his lead so we went hunting on foot & bike so I got a walk in early in the day; but thank the LORD and his angels, we found him only a block from here. Thank goodness he doesn't wander far from home; DH says he would miss us too much.

I asked DH to take him for some walks around the neighbourhood so he can get familiar with it; I would but I'm not sure if I can handle him well enuff right now. As I rest from this move, my walking will get better again; so the morning seems to be a good time for me to walk at least.

All our neighbours have little dogs and walk them around here; the people in this area are friendly and I like that. DH lost his keys yesterday but he found them again today; I'm glad that he doesn't give up. He was so thrilled that he found them by himself today. He's doing better this week and that's good.

Today was pasta day at our house; we had whole wheat spagettini with homemade meat sauce ... yum! I made extra to have another day; so I put them in the freezer for next week (this is my homemade version of lean quisine). ;)

Hope all our friends here are having a good day; take good care ... Rosebud :flow2:

HI GALS ~ :)

Boy it has been hot-HOT here the last few days. We had a pretty nice summer up until now. I ran my air conditioning more the last three days than all the rest of the summer.

Well the rain on Labor Day came and went throughout the day so we were able to have games outside and eat outside as well. We decided to hold off on the shuffleboard tournament since my daughter, sil, sister, and several nieces weren't here. The kids....all around 30 :D now...played corn hole, basketball and even practiced shuffleboard for next time. All in all I think we had 18 people come and go.

I have had the blessing of watching my GRANDdaughter the last 2 days and have her tomorrow also :carrot: She and I have had a blast! I just love making her giggle :D

With all the houses lost in the fires in TEXAS this week I have been thinking about BOOTSIE...prayers all is well with her.

You sure are busy up there ROSEBUD :) thank goodness NIKO was found...AGAIN!! ;)

be good

Good morning all! It is a beautiful sunny day here! I am on day 2 of my healthy eating and have gained 1.4 pounds. Obviously something very wrong here. Low fat yogurt for breakfast, fresh veggies, fruit and salad and protein for supper. Any suggestions ladies?? Sure need some encouragement and advice. I think I have totally screwed up my metabolism.....

09-09-2011, 02:54 PM
Hi! I posted my intro a bit ago. This appears to be a daily check in for September? Hopefully it's ok if I drop on in here.

We're in the middle of a mini-home renovation, so I feel a bit chaotic at the moment. Probably not the best time for me to try to do a health re-focus, but I can always find an excuse to start "tomorrow." I'll probably skip out of work early and do a little work at home. Tonight we head to the roller rink for a birthday party for one of our youth group members. Last time I skated, I assumed I was as good as I was way back when and proceeded to land HARD on my hiney. Needless to say, after sitting on a pillow for a YEAR, I will not be skating tonight. My goal for tonight is to not indulge in the roller rink food and bring my own water bottle---hope they allow me to bring it in!

Hope you all have a blessed day!

09-09-2011, 08:54 PM
:welcome: LISALOU ~ yes, this is the daily chat for September; glad you joined us over here. I had a similar roller skating experience myself; broke my right ankle skating on the road -- my friend was trying to save me from being hit by a car ... it has healed up pretty good over the years (although it took a very long time).

HI FRANKIE ~ I just noticed that you are also from Canada. Don't know what plan you are on or how much you weigh but that seems like a light day. Did you have any lunch? Looks like a low carb plan from the list you gave. I think many of us have screwed up metabolisms; that's what my previous doctor thought too. WE can only try our best to eat & live healthier -- one day at a time.

I had oat & bran cereal for breakfast; a ham & chz omelette with tst for lunch; and a burger & salad for dinner (whole grain bun). I usually have more veggies if I can; and now that fall is here, we like to have soup for lunch more often (we did 3 times this week).

My day was a bit rushed as the furnace guy came today; it hadn't been serviced for awhile so he had to give it a good cleaning and change the belt. The good news is that it works and there are no cracks or dangers, but it is old and will have to be replaced pretty soon. They are booked up now and that will give us time to save up some for it.

Some old friends dropped by to see our place and gave us a tv center for our livingroom; they even brought it over. That was very kind of them; and may GOD BLESS them for it too.

GARY ~ yes, it seems we have been much busier since we moved here. There's one adventure after another here with NIKO, for sure. We heard some strange sounds coming from the back yard -- listening closer, it was gnarling, growling, and nashing of teeth. We rushed out to find a huge St. Bernard dog wrassling with NIKO who was trying to get the big brute off his back (it would have been funny, if it wasn't so scary sounding). It took DH some time to get the interloper to leave NIKO alone and get; most dogs run at the sight of an owner. Well, we finally were able to scare him off and rescue NIKO into the house for awhile. The adventures of NIKO continue ... ;)

My DAD & SM stopped off on their way home; they had been up for a visit but my Dad was glad someone came to check the furnace out for us. They dropped off a wee care package on the way out of town. Praying they have a safe trip back home.

We had very warm temps today too; almost up to 30 C (in the 90's) in the sun here today. THe thermometer said 30 C by late afternoon but it is cooling off a bit now. Seems like we are going to have a nice fall this year.

Yes, I hope BOOTSIE and all her family are doing well; sending up prayers about those fires in Texas -- they need more :rain: again. Have a great weekend everyone ... Rosebud :flow2:

09-09-2011, 09:15 PM
Justwant2B actually I haven't really chosen a plan I was just making an effort to choose healthy foods vs. junk. That explains why my weight hasn't moved is my start date so wish me luck

09-10-2011, 09:20 PM
I've had a good day. I went to Jazzercise today for the first time. I think I'll probably sign up. Of course, as I walk in the room, I look around to see if I'm the heaviest person in the room. Of course, I was, but they were very welcoming. I managed to make it the entire hour. So proud!

09-10-2011, 10:13 PM
Great job LisaLou!!! I am so proud of you too!!

09-11-2011, 12:44 AM

My name is Donna. I LOVE THE LORD! And I am so grateful for His hand in my life.

I had a heart cath and stent 3 weeks ago, and I've chosen to make some huge changes (no pun intended) ;) I had a 95% blockage. Dr. said I was blessed to not have had a heart attack.

Jesus loves me, this I KNOW.

Tons of weight to lose, but I know that God is going to help me. He gave me a very special boy. Jonathan is 11, and has autism. He needs me to stay on this planet for a while, and my plan is to do so.

Looking forward to getting to know you!

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

09-12-2011, 07:48 PM
Hi Donna! What a wake up call for you. I'm thankful they were able to repair and you're here to push forward.

Today was an odd day. I'm struggling a little with food. I know it's because we need to do some grocery shopping. I can't eat bad food if I don't have bad food in the house. We need to get some healthy food so I can make better choices.

Happy Monday!

09-12-2011, 10:25 PM
I'm doing a Beth Moore Bible Study, and was thinking about God's love. And how my feeling of worth is so directly tied into my weight. I closed my eyes and breathed a prayer, "Thank you Father for loving me even though I am large."

Immediately I was reminded a verse that tells us how man see's the outward but God see's the heart. And I had these thoughts: "Donna, honey, I made the mountains, and they are big. I made the redwoods, and they are big also. Why would you think your size would ever deem you unlovely to me?"

I am so grateful for our Compassionate Father!

09-13-2011, 05:24 PM
Which Beth Moore study are you doing? I've heard good things about her studies, but I've never done one myself. Once our little remodel is done (Lord, help it be soon!), I'll have a great spot to focus on some quiet time. I'm very bad at making the time to build myself up spiritually. I'm looking for a good study to do when I'm ready.

09-13-2011, 07:51 PM
 HI EVERYONE ~ wow, we've been very busy the last few days; getting things unpacked and put away takes a long time. Deciding where everything will go takes some time too. Finally got DH's TV/dvd/video player set up for him again so he can watch his favorite movies.

After a full day of setting things up and housechores; it was time to put my legs up and read for awhile, then I would nod off and the day was gone. As DH always says, I must have needed it. We had some friends drop by this afternoon; it was nice to see them and show them our new place, as one lady hadn't seen it yet.

:welcome: DONNA ~ glad that you joined us over here; I agree that GOD does loves us just the way we are and we should too. Yes, there a many big and round plump things in this world, esp the animal kingdom. I was just thinking about this recently as well -- GOD made people of different races and color and height and size; and that's what makes them beautiful (like the many different kinds of flowers). It is mankind that seems to get so hung up on those differences, not GOD. People share their preferences, then try to say that is from GOD, but it isn't.

GOD loves us unconditionally; JESUS loves us all just the way we are. The bible says clearly that GOD wants us to have an abundance of good food and not starve. There is a big difference between overeating & starving ourselves. I'm not sure where people get this idea from -- that being big is a sin; and the only antidote is to starve oneself??? No, the perfect balance is moderation; eating just enuff of the good natural foods that GOD made to keep us healthy & well.

We can all love each other regardless of weight or size; and we shouldn't have to be told that. I appreciate people's minds & souls; plus the essence of their spirit & their characters; their gifts & talents; and their personality & their friendship, esp if it is founded in love & kindness & compassion for others.

Here's that Passage ~ 1 Samuel 16:7 ~ "But the LORD said ... look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature ... for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart."

LISALOU ~ Yes, making sure I have lots of fresh foods like salad makings in the house; and lots of veggies & fruit makes a difference for me too. I buy some fresh and some frozen for those times that I can't get to the store when I need to. Just keep going; we all have off days, but things will iron out over the next day or week.

DH has gone for a bike ride; he ran some errands for me on his bike today. He has been very helpful to me this week that way; and it has helped him to feel better too. We sold our old car this week; at least we got something for it that we will put towards the house in some way. In the end, we will come out ahead of things; when I was doing our books today, I noticed that we will save quite a bit not having to pay for insurance, gas & oil etc, and repairs and parts galore. I was surprised just how much we were spending each month on all that. "All things work out for good for those who love the LORD" ... Romans 8:28.

The temps have cooled off a bit with a little sprinkle of :rain: today; but it was still 20 C or 68 F inside the house today anyway. We changed the handles doors on the fridge this AM for ease of access; and did sorting this afternoon until friends came by -- we needed to rest anyway. ;)

It was fish day around here; we had fish with sweet tator fries & onions with romaine salad & sliced tomatoes for dinner (DH had his usual fries & gravy with his). Had a cupasoup and sandwich for lunch. I made a chunky beef soup for the last two days from some leftover roast beef & veggies I had in the freezer; it was yummy.

Didn't mean to be so scarce around here; sometimes you get busy and time just flies by. Hope everyone is having a great week; take good care now ... Rosebud :flow2:

09-14-2011, 12:23 PM

I have never posted on this section on the forum but I have been reading threads and posts.

I would like to introduce myself. I am a married mother to two beautiful children name Tyler (8) and Rylie (1), hence the username Ryler. My family and I are devoted Catholics and are very active within our church community. I do not think that I would be here today if God was not in my life. The 3FC community has provided many great supports and motivational goal stories and I thank you all for that. "With God, everything is possible."

I look forward to getting to know everyone. May God bless you all today and everyday.

Hi Gals :)

Well, we had a great 9/11 Remembrance and BBQ at church on Sunday. I may post some pics later as soon as I load them.

EDIT ~ I got them up, link is in my next post that follows.

I have had a couple of days off, actually got to watch my GRANDdaughter on Monday :carrot: Then yesterday I went over to my sister's and helped for a bit as she went to a "treatment" on her port.....for those newbies my sister is 2 years recovering from cancer/double mastectomy. My son and dil are high school teachers so my sister watches my, almost 6 month old, granddaughter. I was able to watch her last week for 3 days as my sister was in Hawaii.

There is going to be a lot of babies around here this time next year :) With my daughter being 4 months along and one of my niece's called last night, she is due with #2 for her in May.

Work is still slow for me but I am getting some days filled in, thanks be to God it is enough for sure. Having Angie's secure teaching job (what's secure these days huh ;)) sure comes in handy! She has often mentioned that I could probably retire and we would be ok but it sure would be difficult to do anything fun :( And when stuff like Reba's knee blowing out (she is one of our dogs) costing almost 3 thousand right after the transmission going out on Angie's car...well, I think I need to keep working when I can :D

RYLER832~ :welcome3: One of our golden retrievers is named Rylee :) My wife was going to spell her name Rylie when she was a puppy but then we realized if we combined the first and middle name of our son, Ryan Lee, we could have Rylee....just what our 23 year old, at the time, wanted :D Payback for giving us a hard time for getting a dog.

ROSEBUD ~ Nice for you to have friends coming over to see the new place :) Chores just never seem to end do they? Yesterday I spent the entire morning mopping the kitchen and dining room floors, scrubbing the tile on the counters and putting everything back that was out of place from the big BBQ on Labor Day and being gone at church most of last week-end with set up and clean up of 9/11 day.

DONNA ~ :welcome: Prayers for you as you deal with these heart issues. One of my friends, at church, has had recent work done. He is the one who puts out all the flags for, not only our 9/11 Remembrance but other patriotic days at church. You will really appreciate his work if I get around to posting pictures of them.

LISALOU ~ :carrot: Great job on signing up for jazzercise. The lady that started it way back in the late 60's/early 70's Judi Misset lived real close to us. One of my neighbors was in some of her first classes. I think they are still based here. Have fun.

FRANKIE ~ Keep up the good work on eating healthy!. My wife is a big fan of so much :D....;) She has a friend that has a great website on offering great information and choices....let me know if you are interested and I will post it.

Well Ladies that's about all I have for today.....

Take Care

Which Beth Moore study are you doing? I've heard good things about her studies, but I've never done one myself. Once our little remodel is done (Lord, help it be soon!), I'll have a great spot to focus on some quiet time. I'm very bad at making the time to build myself up spiritually. I'm looking for a good study to do when I'm ready.

The Bible study we're doing is: "A Woman's Heart, God's dwelling Place". It is amazing!

Happy Friday!

I had a rough night last night. We are doing some remodeling and brought our new couches in last night. Had to move a set from downstairs to upstairs and then move a set from the truck into the house. It was awful! They were heavy and awkward and I was completely useless. It was just hubby and I and he needed me. I feel like I let him down. I was completely out of breathe and dropping it constantly. My arms still hurt. He was a little frustrated and was getting snippy. All I could do was cry out of my own frustration.

Here's the thing...I know it's probably not the best thing, but I haven't told hubby about my decision to lose weight. I'm not sure which reason is the real reason I haven't said anything. He's amazing and so supportive, so that's not the problem. Maybe he's too supportive? I don't want him to "encourage" me to make the right food choices. Maybe it's because I don't want him to know in case I fail again. I feel bad I haven't said anything, because it's important to him, too. I know I need to.

On a positive note, today is the beginning of week two and I'm down 7 pounds! :carrot: I know that's not normal, but it's week one and it's typical for me to have a good loss the first week. It's a great feeling!

Sorry you are hurting Lisa. That is too much for any woman, I think. Well, maybe the weight lifter woman could have a go at it!

And congrats for the 7lbs. Keep up the good work. When I'm at 217 I'll be rejoicing! (It will be Christmas of 2012 for me, I'm sure)

 HELLO FRIENDS ~ We've continued unpacking a bit each day; trying to find things we need or want. I think I made it through all the boxes & totes we have upstairs at least. The guy came and hooked up my washing machine for me; so happy for that -- it's now upstairs in the room next to the kitchen which is very handy.

I tried my new washer out and it works fine; we had a small drip leak in the new hose connections -- just used a pipe wrench and tightened them up a bit and we were good to go. I did two test washes (one light load & one heavy one); and hung some out on a small line DH put up out back for me, and some on my indoor "angel" dryer rack -- yes, it really looks like an angel when it is set up.;)

We have had lovely, :sunny: weather the last two days; the nights were very cool (down to 40F which is a bit cold for September here). The geese went south early this year; I'm sure that was a sign of things to come. Many of the songbirds are gone now too; but we still have some blackbirds at our feeder the last few days. Guess they are filling up and bathing on our sunporch roof before heading south too.

:welcome: RYLER ~ glad you found us over here; this is a great place for support and info too. Stick around as that helps a lot ...

:congrat: LISA ~ 7 lbs is a great start; sure, that happens a lot at the beginning, but just keep going! Hey, I can't lift couches and furniture like that, and my DH knows it. You are not a man, and your DH knows that too; some women are stronger than others, that's all. Actually, when I try to help, DH gets annoyed with me cuz he's worried I may hurt myself, as sometimes I overdo it a bit. I just try to do what I am good at (cooking, cleaning, managing money, creativity, ideas & solving problems, laundry, sewing, planning & supervising, etc.,) and I did real good with the plumbing wrench yesterday.:D

GARY ~ and you are a big help to ANGIE around the house too; you do a lot of cleaning and laundry and cooking too. My DH helps me with the big lifting & moving stuff; and the floors. He's not that great at cooking but he usually makes his own breakfast which is a help; he does dishes now & then too; plus he's good at doing windows & walls -- and that is good. Of course, he does some minor repairs & the yard work, esp mowing the grass. We each do what we can ... :)

My sister, NUMPSTER, and her hubby, Steve; and one of brothers should arrive here sometime tomorrow. She had to work Friday so they had to delay coming up by one day. It will be nice to see them all. Have a great weekend everyone ... Rosebud :flow2:

Hi Gals :)

Taking it easy tonight watching I have done all day :D

Angie is at a yoga workshop. She was gone for Friday evening and the same as today 1pm-9pm. This workshop will help her towards her certificate to help those with special medical problems. Teaching her yoga at church she is starting to get a lot of elderly interested.

Church was cool as always. Angie played bells and we were joined by my step daughter, my sister and my ex-wife.

My daughter came up today to visit her brother and her new niece :) she is so jealous that I get to babysit her again tomorrow! I just love spending time with my granddaughter :) she is just so busy figuring things out! My daughter is still having morning sickness now at 15 weeks into her pregnancy....:( but otherwise all seems well.

I babysat my granddaughter on Thursday afternoon on into the evening as my son and daughter in law had their back to school night. My sister, who watches here most days, is having some ovarian cysts removed tomorrow so I will fill in since I have the day off from work...lucky me! :carrot:

Well Ladies I better get back to this football game ;)

Hi, I thought I would introduce myself here too, since I'm a newbie and all. I'm Andrea, I'm a Christian, (PCA Presbyterian if you want specifics), and I'm from (and in) NoVa, though I've spent some time in GA and TN. I'm married, have a two-year old, and am a SAHM.
@ Donna, I'm also doing a Beth Moore Study, The Psalms of Ascent, and it's really great!
I just needed a little inspiration/motivation....etc. I started out strong a couple months ago, but literally haven't exercised in weeks, two weeks to be exact.

09-19-2011, 01:52 PM
Hi Andrea! Welcome!

Our floors are so close to finished that I'm starting to put it all back together again. WHAT a feeling! :carrot: Life has been so chaotic lately that I can just feel it in my spirit. It's so heavy. Looking forward to brighter days.

Lots of cleaning today. What a way to get my exercise in. :)

Hi Everyone!

Newbie here, in this thread as well as to the board. :D

I have struggled with my weight all of my life due to having PCOS. I have relied on my doctors to "fix" me, but it has become very clear with each new symptom developed that they can not. It hit me that I have to do my part too, and my part in doing more and more research, seems very overwhelming. I guess lifestyle changes always are.

I know God is with me, and I know that He will help when I call, but I get discouraged easily. It has always been hard for me to work so hard and see so few results, that I have tended to give up easily. I have used the fatigue I feel often as an excuse to get lazy about working out and let the labile moods control me. I have spent a long time feeling sorry for myself when everyone around me hasn't had the struggles I have had, feeling like they couldn't possibly understand.

Becoming online buddies with Onami on a different message board brought me here, and I am loving it. The support one sees here is something I wish I had known about long before now. Maybe it would've helped me stay motivated.

I also like that there is a place for people to include their faith openly in their journey. To realize that our spiritual growth and well-being is a big part in how we feel overall. I don't have a lot of christian friends where I live. I have my family, but no one else that really can identify with that part of my life. I hope I can find it here. :)

Well, that's my story, and sorry for talking so much. :o

09-20-2011, 10:33 PM
Well, I finally got moved and am surrounded by boxes and boxes to unpack and I really did try to downscale but I still have lots of stuff, except in the living room. I decided my living room furniture had too much wear and tear so left them behind. I have purchased a couch and chair which will be delivered next Tuesday. I hope I can make enough room for them. I haven't been to my new church yet but hope to next Sunday.

09-20-2011, 11:29 PM
Good to see you back BARGOO!

09-21-2011, 11:35 AM
:welcome: ANDREA ~ if you continue to follow your plan of healthy eating as best you can, even just walking and your daily chores will give you some exercise. My main motivation is good health -- it is one desire that never fades, waivers, or leaves me. Who doesn't want good health?

:welcome2: KYA ~ yes, this is a great place for those who want to get healthier and have Christian friends and support at the same time. Glad you joined us over here ...

My sister and BIL are here and we are having a great time; I snuck in here while they were sleeping in. Think I can here people moving around now. My sister, NUMPSTER, is such a generous soul; she fixed up my pc. Oh, BTW, my PC wasn't broken after all; my BIL discovered by accident that it was my power bar that was defective. OH well, now I have 2 pcs; one desktop and one laptop. I will share more news later on; it's like Christmas around here.;)

 BARGOO ~ glad you are finally getting settled in to your new place; I here ya on being surrounded by boxes (I have a lot of totes too). We are taking this week off to enjoy time with my sister & BIL; a holiday of sorts for us too. Don't overdo it now ...

See you all later ... Rosebud :flow2:

09-23-2011, 03:28 PM
I do not wish to bother, but hoping if you all have some available time, please say a prayer for my DD. Thank you and so glad to hear you all are doing so well, and happy you made the move safely Rosebud

09-23-2011, 05:15 PM
STAR ~ prayers on their way for you daughter ... Nice to see you back with us again.

We are having a wonderful visit with my sister & BIL; we are resting at this time too. It is nice to have a break and literally do nothing but the fun stuff and the necessities, of course. They went out for tour (drive around town) so I snuck in here to say HI ...

The repair guy came yesterday and installed our two new doors and the new handles; still has to come back next week to fix up a closet bi-fold door and trim one bedroom door as the old houses are not exactly made to measure it seems ;). I hope it will all be finished at that time so we can rest for a while; the place is lookin' good though.

DH is out on a bike run (ride) and had to pick up his new meds; he is doing OK with that. At times, he does and says the funniest things -- this morning he hunted through all the cupboards for a coffee cup then finally said, "Would somebody please tell me where all the coffee cups are!" He said it with a good-natured tone, so that is good. It will take a bit of time, but he will adjust to this new place.

I made a nice turkey dinner with all the trimmings yesterday for dinner; it turned out great. We are going to have leftovers for dinner tonight, so they all get used up. We've had fun playing games in the evenings as well; can't believe the good laughs we all have when we get together. It's esp nice since they are Christians too ... :D

Hope all our friends here are doing well; have a great weekend, eh? Rosebud :flow2:

09-25-2011, 09:38 PM
HI EVERYONE ~ gee, the net seems a little slow tonight; must be busy or maybe it's just this site ... You all must have been very busy this weekend. We had really nice weather this weekend and it's supposed to last for most of this week; it is like a Indian Summer here right now and we're lovin' it, of course!

Well, we are always sad to see them go, but NUMPSTER (my sister), our BIL, and their delightful new furry baby (Emma, an adorable long-legged beagle, who our NIKO just adores & misses already) -- left early this AM to go back home. My sister had to get back to work, but we had such a wonderful time while they were here. THey really like our place and they bought us some nice house warming gifts after looking around to see what we needed the most. They bought me a set or portable phones that I can carry around with me; and a fantastic cordless carpet/floor sweeper which is so easy to use. It makes doing the floors so much easier for me each day; I can hang on to one cane and use the sweeper in the other. They also bought me a new power/surge bar for my PC. MAY GOD BLESS THEM for their kindnesses. We had loads of fun playing games, watching movies, and chatting. I got some great pics and video of NIKO and Emma playing; they were at it 24/7 -- what a great match they were for each other (both are about the same size, so playful, and yet gentle with each other too). NIKO was whining and pining for her as he saw her leaving in her Daddy's lap; we figured that would happen.

We were treated to CHINESE dinner last night with lots of veggie dishes with lean meat; and then had the leftovers tonight ... yum, yum. We were really spoiled this week. We had some treats this week, but also had some nice healthy meals mixed in there too. Still got some of that turkey in the freezer for another dinner.

Hope you all have a great week coming up ... Rosebud :flow2:

09-25-2011, 10:35 PM

Angie and I had a nice week-end here too ROSEBUD :)

I worked a little Saturday morning at my daughter's condo, as she and her husband flew to Minnesota this week-end with her brother, to see their grandpa who is aging quickly. A good time for me to set up scaffold and do some things went she wasn't there. Good thing my brother and I went down there too, she had a pipe with a pinhole that had been leaking for awhile, a disaster just waiting to happen! Especially when you are gone for a few days.

We went to the Viking Fest yesterday, a lot of people from church there too. We didn't work any shifts this year and just relaxed, drank some beer and ate a lot of high calorie food :D well I did anyway ;)

Our service at church was great, our vicar did the sermon and rocked it! I felt bad for my sister though, she had an ovarian cyst removed on Monday and was having some issues, having to get up and go potty all through service...poor thing, she has been through so much the last few years

I spent most of the day watching football and paying bills, while Angie took Rylee to the dogwash...Reba still not allowed that activity yet but she is getting so much better.

STAR prayers have been sent for your daughter.

Well, time to shower up for tomorrow....have a great week ladies.

09-26-2011, 02:38 PM
Rosebud - Thank you for the prayers, they are greatly appreciated. I can't imagine making a turkey dinner in the heat we are having still here (though we haven't been over 110 in a few weeks, but 109 is still hot, lol)

Gary - Thank you for the prayers, we are so thankful. Sounds like you have been staying really busy - you are truly a blessing for your family :)

09-26-2011, 04:54 PM
STAR ~ we've been having typical fall weather for our area -- in the high 60's and up to about 75 F over the last week; still cool enuff to bake a turkey (I think it was raining the day I baked it though, so the oven actually warmed the place up a bit). When it's really hot here, I don't bake in the oven either -- I do meals on the stove top or use my crockpot.

I did laundry today and hung it outside; dries in a couple of hours that way. I just hung out some bed linens which makes them smell so fresh. We had our washer hooked up on the main floor which is handy for me; and we have our extra dryer hooked up in the basement for now -- if we need to use it, DH will be carting laundry for me, but he doesn't mind. We will have the set dryer hooked up upstairs later on.

Paid up our bills today; glad to get all the xtra moving expenses paid. Had our furnaced checked and cleaned; it's good to go for another year. One more month of overlap bills for the hydro (October) then we will be back to monthly expenses. This place is almost the same carrying costs as our apartment was; but any minor difference is well worth it for the peace & quiet we have here, plus we are investing our $$$ into our own place.

My sister couldn't believe how sound proof the walls are here -- I think it's the brick and the fact that the outside walls are almost 1 foot deep that is helping keep the noise out. Needless to say, we love living here; it's so homey ... ;)

Time to go look for something for dinner; a nice, healthy dinner with salad. Have a great week everyone ... Rosebud :flow2:

09-26-2011, 06:12 PM
Rosebud - We always hang our clothes as well, helps tremendously with electric bill. I am so glad that it sounds like things are really calming and coming together for you! So glad you love your home!

09-26-2011, 06:36 PM
I love the smell of sheets that have been line dried. I have no way to do it, though.

09-27-2011, 09:08 PM
BARGOO ~ in our last place (the apartment), I bought a neat portable clothes rack that looks like an angel when it is set up, and put it on my front deck so I could hang stuff outside; plus we hung things in the side of the deck too -- it worked out well for us there. DH put up a short line out back for me to use here; and later on, he will put up a longer one when he finds a post/pole for it. I agree that nothing smells nicer for bed linens than being dried outdoors ... :D

09-29-2011, 04:24 PM
 HI EVERYONE ~ I have a new desk with one of those pull-out keyboard drawers that I bought for this place; it looks great but it feels awefully low for me as I'm used to a higher desk. I have to lean to type and that's not good for the back. It keeps moving & sliding in on me ... so I'm gonna try putting it back up on the desk and see what happens.

We had lovely weather for over a week with the odd day of :rain: in between but they are predicting really cold temps for tomorrow and next week. Gee, how does it go from the 70's down to the 30/40's in one day -- a cold front, I guess. I was hoping to delay putting on the furnace til mid-October ... oh well, we've done so well up til now. I just hope they are wrong about the 20's at night ... :brr: You know what that brings when rain is predicted just before ***** ... dang!

Well, I'm back on track with our meals after our fun holiday break. We're having fish for dinner tonight. Maybe Pacific Salmon with a rice & barley pilaf and mixed veggies (broccoli/carrots/cauliflower); that sounds good.

DH is out back pounding away on his cans today; and I did dusting, and vacuuming the floors this AM, and we put up 3 clocks around the house so we know what time it is from different locations. Our plan is to get all our chores done by noon; have lunch, then we can do others stuff we want to in the afternoons. Helen & Scott Nearing used to do that -- I read their books many moons ago, and they had some interesting tips on time-management.

Hope you are all well; and have a fab Friday .... Rosebud :flow2:

09-29-2011, 05:20 PM
Rosebud - Sorry to hear your desk isn't working out so easily after being set up, hopefully you figure out how to get it so it suits you perfectly. Hearing your temps make me freeze, even the 70's...that's cold for these parts. We are 103 today. My folks just flew in from Maine last night; was SOOOO excited to see them. Been in a funk lately and hoping having them here will be just the thing to help bring new life into our house. Amber is getting 3x/wk physical therapy now and her scars from surgery are small - thank you all for the prayers. Right after her surgery, she also needed injections in 3 joints and drainings... was unable to walk for a bit, but now is mobile again.

09-30-2011, 10:53 PM
STAR ~ the desk looks nice and it took a lot of work by four of us to put it together, so I definitely want to use it. I put the keyboard on the top of the desk and that feels much better; that is the height my last desk was and I had that one for almost 20 years or more. So everything's A-OK now. Glad to hear that your daughter is doing so much better now -- Praize GOD for that!

We had really colder temps today, but I think the wind is really what made it seem so much worse. Had to put the furnace on for a bit, but it wasn't too bad. It was cozy standing beside the wall heaters; I am definitely loving that part of it. It took us two trips to the hardware store to get the right weather stripping kit for our back door. Poor DH walked, or should I say ran the first time becuz it started to :rain: and he couldn't get a taxi anywhere. One of our stands recently closed down, and there was a huge shortage becuz of the bad weather today. I hope a new one opens up that has a nice comfortable car for me to get in to; all I see these days are vans. I told DH now we just have to dream (ask the LORD) to get us a nice & comfortable chauffeured car; not too much to ask, is it???;);)

This cold weather really does a thing to my legs and feet; it's the hardest time of year for my body to get used to. You just wanna crawl in bed and stay there until the dry air settles in. It's cold and damp together; the worst. Ok, that's enuff of that; we have so many blessings like a big fleece blanket and cozy comforters -- ya, that's the solution!!! :D

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend wherever you are ... Rosebud :flow2:
