Here's how it works: Everyone of us has wellness goals. Break those goals up into small, achievable steps and challenge yourself to meet your goals by the end of the month. They can be a number of pounds lost; please keep it reasonable and safe, dietary goals, goals to change your mindset, etc. Let's all support and encourage each other on this life long journey. Don't get discouraged if you don't meet your goal, just keep on challenging yourself.

You can join at any time.

A new month, a clean slate.

1. Intentionally drink at least 3 glasses of water (in addition to other regular water/liquid consumption) a day. Every Day.
2. Average daily calories for the month under 1900.
3. At least 12 hours in the pool for the month.
4. Carbs under 200g at least 10 days for the month.

These goals are not a stretch my any means, so there is no excuse for not making them.

Ummm? I don't know what my goal is? Although I still need to work on the same old same old I want to do smething new, and maybe even exciting. So for now my goal is to have a goal by Sunday!
Btw, down -2.2 today so I'm entering all new territory...the 270's! That just sounds crazy!

OMG!!! Goodnuff, that is AWESOME!!! WAY TO GO! I am SOOOO happy for you. Way to go. I bet you are glad you went to that meeting now. :-)
I'm not sure of my goals either. I mean my "big" goal for the moment is to get out of these 260's but other than that I am not sure. Definately drink 8 glasses of water a day and make better choices food wise but byond that I will have to think. I leave for vacation in the morning and I plan on having lots of seafood but I also plan on being pretty good and just hope not to gain weight this week. Once I get back I will focus on losing. Have a great week.

Okay, after much deliberation I've decided what I want t accomplish this month:
~decrease gluten to once a day until vacation
~eliminate gluten after vacation
~gain less than 5 pounds during vacation (I'm not talking fat, I'm talking weight. There's going to be plenty of cocktails, salty food and flying to ensure water weight)
~be back to pre-vacation weight by October 6th.

goodnuff
09-07-2011, 12:07 PM
How's everyone doing one week into the month?
This gluten thing is hard right now but because I've been eating it and in turn feeing like crap I know it's what I need to do. Why is it so hard to treat our bodies' well?

My gOaLs ...

1. Don't be lazy on Sundays!!! Do something AcTiVe with the kids EvErY Sunday, which is now known as Sunday FuNdAy!!! Active Sunday has been a success!! So far, LOL!!

2. Get outside more!! Get fresh air and sunshine. Spend at least an half an hour outside 3 times a week. I would say if you add up all the min here and min there I am meeting this goal, but that was not what I intended, so far I would call this a big FAIL ... but still trying!! :(

3. Continue all last months goals and don't slip, and if you do slip recognize and get back up!!! Good here .. I would almost call them habits now ... WhAt?? I made some good habits .... go me!!! :)

Go you! is right So!!!
I've done good with th decreased gluton the last two days and feel better because of it!
Went for a walk this morning and it felt good, I haven't walked since mid August, no excuses other than pure laziness.

I'm back!!!
Goodnuff: Decreasing Gluten is hard work. Glad you are feeling positive effects of it. Great job on the walk too.
I had a FABULOUS vacation and let my "inner child" play a little too hard but boy it was fun! Now I have to get back to reality (in all areas of my life)! No more all nighters, no more drinking (or at leat not without counting it), no more bad food choices. I have to sleep, drink water, and make good food choices that will help me acheive my weighloss goals. I stepped on the scale this morning for the first time in more than 2 weeks and it was up 5 pounds. I am hoping that is not "real" weight gain and I am back down really soon.
So Determined: Looks like you are doing pretty well. Keep it up. We can do this.
How are you ilbnej?
The boards seem really slow. I hope everyone is doing well.

1. Finish the Race for the Cure 5k in under 1 hour on Saturday (9-17-11)
2. Get in exercise at least 4x a week.
3. Continue to make healthy eating choices while working toward eliminating the frozen dinners.

1. Track what I put in my mouth for 21 days. Everything. Really.
2. 10 minutes of exercise every day for 21 days.

Baby steps, but that's what it's going to take.

Baby steps is right, and sometimes just like babies, we fall on our keesters and just have to keep getting right back up!
I have WI in the morning and will go from there! My vacation starts Friday, leaving for Louisiana on Sunday. I must admit my food and activity choices have been poor lately. I know the "right" attitude for vacation should be to stay on track but it's not.. I'm not jumping the tracks, just veering and looking forward to a re-start once I'm back home.
Glad you had a good vacation tw, and gad to see you back. I think +5 is awesome fllowing a vacation. I know for me it's easily been +10 in the past which was more likely to be actual fat gain.
Talk to ya all soon.
Btw, next month is my birthday ad one thing I would like is a more active post. You can't say "no" or I'll pout!

To stop being discouraged if I don't lose over 3 lbs a week
To try my best to lose 10 lbs by the end of this month
To get my lazy self to the gym 5 times a week
To continue eating healthy, and to be proud of the little changes I've made so far.

Goodnuff: I forgot we share a birthday month. I too would love more post here. :-) How'd the WI go? I hope you have a great vacation. I hope you make many good food choices and still have fun too. I think if you are conscious of things it is so much better. I haven't had my official WI yet but the scale was up 5 pounds on Tuesday and is only up 3 pounds today. Hopefully my official WI won't be too bad. I am doing better this week and hope to be getting back on track.
Sophieeex3: I love your goal "To continue eating healthy, and to be proud of the little changes I've made so far." That is SO important in my success. We can't beat ourselves up. We have to be proud of the positive and keep moving forward. Just like Rachaelm siad "Babysteps!"
"Yeah us" for choosing to make good choices today to help our health and happiness!

OK so I went and did my official WI this morning before work because I have plans for tomorrow and won't make the meeting. My official post trip weight gain is 2.6. Not too bad really but I had gained 2 pounds before I left so technically I am up 4.6 since August 20th. Definately NOT the right direction. I am making much better choices this week but this weekend will be harder as I have plans Fri., Sat., and Sun. that will include food and alcohol. I am not usually a big drinker but I have started hanging out more with a friend that does drink more and it is football season and there is always more alcohol with football. I need to remind myself I can still make good choices and don't have to partake in all that is offered but it is hard to resist (I haven't resisted much the past 2 weeks). Goodnuff, maybe I do need to go back to Florida to drown my inner brat! If not, I am likely to be even fatter and a drunk. I already have trouble finding time to go to WW let alone adding AA to the mix. :-)

We've lost our steam and instead of waiting even longer for it to come bac we need to make our own steam. I suggest we make 5 minutes a day to post what we are doing to make "it" happen starting Sept. 26th! Are you in?..anyone else wanna be in?

09-17-2011, 04:43 PM
btw, I was +4.2 this week, so that's +5 in 2 weeks. I'm still giving myself +5 for vacation, i.e, I will not get upset if I gain as long as I stay under 290. Maybe in 10 years when I go on vacation again I will have this food thing figured out and won't given myself permission to be imperfect...NOT!!!

Goodnuff: Sounds good to me. I wasn't too bad this weekend but really could have been better. September 26th will give us 3 months to end the year on a strong note. I like to idea of posting each day. I can do that during the week but may have trouble on the weekends (due to internet access and my kiddo monopolizing my time) but I'm in during the week.
I hope you have a great vacation and stay within your 5 pound goal. Have fun!!!

Chirp, chirp! Two more days of vacation and then it is game on. Pretty sure that after tomorrow I don't want to see alcohol, salty food or humidity for a good long time!
Daily posting (during the week) to commence in two days!

09-26-2011, 11:33 AM
Here it is September 26th! Daily posting (during the week) starts now.
It is only 10:22am but I have tracked what I have eaten so far and I have planned my lunch. I went to the grocery store yesterday and have good food/snacks in the house. I also brought my snacks for today at work. I didn't plan my dinner but I am not concerned since I have good food at home to chose from.
I actually got some good time at home this weekend too so the dishes are done, the cat litter is changed, the trash is out, the living room is in good order, the refrigerator/pantry is full, and a couple loads of laundry are done. It is AMAZING how having those things done can help me feel SO MUCH BETTER! Those things aren't really related to food but it is funny how if those things are not done my food choices are terrible.
I plan on doing at least one load of laundry tonight and paying some bills. Mike and Mollie season premier is on tonight too. YEAH! I also like How I Met Your Mother. And I will switch back and forth to the Cowboys game to make sure they are able to pull out a win though it may be tough with all the injured players they have. But there will be NO alcohol consume tonight!!
Goodnuff: Welcome back to reality!! Hope you had a great vacation! How is your day going? What is your plan?
14 weeks to the end of the year!! I really want to be at/below 250 by then. I am 268.4 as of Saturday.
How is everyone else doing with hteir September goals???

goodnuff
09-27-2011, 02:27 AM
Ugh, what a day. It's 1:23am an I am just winding down now. Food was okay, not as stellar as i'd hoped for my first day but not terrible. I actually slept most of the day away as I did not get any extra sleep on vacaction. I also had to wait all day to get my luggage.
I agree, a clean, in order house makes for easier food choices. I'm going to keep this short in hopes of getting a blog post in.
I will post again today at a more reasonable hour.

tw326at41
09-27-2011, 10:59 AM
OH no! Glad you got your luggage back and got some sleep. I pretty much slept the whole last day of my vacation too. I'm glad to see you posted. I looked for you all day and thought maybe you were backing out of the daily posting. Glad to know you are sticking to it. Remember "No excuses!"
My day food wise was really good yesterday. I was right on with my points and got in most my "good health guidelines." I also walked 0.7 miles last night. Here let me give you a little time get back up off the floor!.......Yes, I walked outside! It was only 15 minutes but hey I did it and it was a heck of a lot more than I have officially done in the last several months.
I have tracked everything today so far (and tracked all of yesterday), brought my snacks and LUNCH, and have a plan for dinner. We have soccer practice tonight so not sure we will have time for any walking but hey 2 days in a row may be overkill. :-) Besides tonight is Biggest Loser and Parenthood. And YEAH the Cowboys won. Barely, but hey they won!!!
Of course, today I was UP 2 pounds! I laughed and said "Satan you ain't getting me down today!" :-) I'm sure it will be back down by Saturday's weigh in. Our bodies are SOOO crazy.
Hope to hear from Goodnuff and others later today. Pressing on....

Ahh, getting my post in just before the midnight hour. Ok, tw, thanks for the reminder. No slacking no matter what. I will track tomorrow and do 30 minutes of the routine I had made for me. I wrk at 3pm and believe I am going to be trying to sleep early tonight.
WTG, on heading into our agreement strong and for lighting a fire under my arse.
My unofficial post vacation WI has me up 2+ pounds. There's a few days left for all of that alcohol to catch up so I'll leave the official W for Thursday at WW.
Talk to you tomorrow.
I hope ilbnej comes back and that others start posting more! Hint, hint!

I did pretty well yesterday but went 6 points over last night. So not great but not terrible. Technically I have 2 activity points so that would only be 4 over but still I need to do better. I was down 1.5 on the scale this morning (but remember that was after being up 2 yesterday). I was really in a funk last night and that is the ONLY reason I ate too much last night. I didn't figure it out until today by TOM should be here this week so I now know what that was about. I hate when I get in those moods and I hate that I ate too much because of it but overall 4 points too many is MUCH better than it could have been. I also am struggling with allergies or I'm getting a cold and feel lousy today. Hopefully this goes away soon. I have continued to track everything and I brought my lunch/snacks to work today. Got to meet the exterminator at home tonight after work but hope to walk again tonight. I really do like walking. I am also CONSIDERING joining the YMCA this week. They have a special that ends on Friday so I need to make up my mind soon.

Goodnuff: How's the tracking going? How was your 30 minute routine?

I'm looking forward to everyone checking in this next day or so and seeing how everyone did with their goals this month. You all are so inspiring!!

I know, I miss everyone too!
My tracking is poor which probably means my eating is poorer than I'm realizing. Today is the start to my WW week so I'm going to keep on trying to get better. I did my 30 minutes today and totally expect to be sore tomorrow. I'll do it on Friday and saturda too...hopefully without a kick in the *** to get started. I'm looking forward to my meeting/WI but not to getting up at 8 and being up and moving until at least 11:30 tomorrow night. Thank for being patient with my inconsistency posting and even bigger thanks for keping up with your end of the bargain.
An extra 4 points is excellent...is that above your weeklies too. Dude, I haven't tracked in forever and when I do I'm always over. I pledge to track 100% for this week (Thursday -Thursday) and do at least 30 minutes 5 times this week. Pinky swear!

rachaelm
09-29-2011, 08:25 AM
Good morning!
I am tracking everything that I eat. I gained 2# from last week. It HAS to be a temporary thing, I am counting every calorie & exercising at least ten minutes a day three days a week and 40 minutes a day four days a week. There is no way this is an actual gain. Right?

tw326at41
09-29-2011, 01:10 PM
rachelm: RIGHT!!! Keep up the good work. I don't remember, what plan are you on? If you are tracking and exercising just keep doing what you're doing adn the loss will come. Don't let it make you give up. It is discouraging but just keep at it. :-) (Welcome back!)

Goodnuff: Great job on doing your 30 minutes! That is awesome! How was your meeting today? I know you will have a long day today but remember you are doing it to better yourself. We HAVE TO MAKE TIME AND TAKE TIME for ourselves! We are worth it! Now, get on that tracking missy! :-)

I was good yesterday and was right on track with my points. No excercise but the house is exterminated now and we ate a healthy dinner and had some good mommy/daughter time last night. Have my snacks for the day and have planned my lunch out (Chickfila-Yum!). I have tracked it all. In response to your questions Goodnuff about going over the 4 points, I am not using the "weekly" points this week because I didn't get on track with everything until Monday and I was not good Saturday and Sunday. So I am looking at it as I used all my "weekly" points this past weekend and I am sticking to the daily's only. My week is Saturday through Friday. In a "normal" week (not that I have had one of those in a really long time) I try to only use 5-10"weekly" points. I know I can do more but I try to keep it low.
Have a great day everyone!!

TW Thanks for the encouragement! I am just counting calories using myplate on livestrong. I've just told myself I'm in this for the long haul, and one little blip is nothing. All the nice slogans everyone on 3FC has helps too.

Good work on planning! I know that is one of my biggest obstacles. I actually like fruits and veggies, but I can't eat them if I don't have them.

goodnuff
09-29-2011, 02:24 PM
I agree rachaelm, just a blip. As an aside, just make sure you are getting enough calories. i've learned over the years that when I cut too low my body holds on to every gram that it can and sometimes I even gain. Hang in there lady, you can do this. I for one can't even imagine how you could lose weight while live in WhoDat Nation...
My grand total gain from my week in Louisianna, specifically 5 days in New Orleans (drumroll please)....ONE POUND! I am so freakin' proud of me.
So my plan this week. track 100%, stay within my dailies and weeklies, and do my MCA exercises Fri, Sat, Mon, Tues and Wed. Walk at least 15 minutes Fri-Sat-Sun.
Glad your house is pest free tw. here is to a good week for all of us!

Goodnuff - hey one pound after a week of vacation eating in NO is GREAT. LOL, there are waaay too many great places to eat there. Yum.

It is hard to change the way I think about 'good' food. I mean, fried with gravy is a food group in my family.

My dad & I were talking about eating last night & he said he eats just like his mom & dad did, the only problem is, we don't work like they did.

tw326at41
09-29-2011, 05:46 PM
Goodnuff: OMGoodness!!!! THAT IS AMAZING!!! WAY TO GO!!!!! I am SO happy for you. You gotta be doing something right! (HAVE YO TRACKED TODAY? JUST CHECKING. :-))

Rachaelm: I used to have "fried with gravy" as a food group too. Now I save that for some meals my mom cooks. Thankfully she lives an hour away and doesn't cook "big family meals" more than maybe once or twice a year (outside of Christmas and Easter). It is definately hard to change the way we think about food. I have a friend right now that eats TERRIBLY but is not much overweight. As I try to help him with his diet I realize just how much my eating choices/habits have changed over the last 5 years. I am still overweight and have a long way to go BUT I can guarantee I am more healthy due to what I eat now over what I used to eat. (But this has taken a long long long time and I still LOVE all the "bad" stuff and eat it too just not as often or as much).

BIG BIG BIG SUCCESS for me today! I went to the drive through at Chickfila to get my lunch and ordered a large unsweet tea and got sweet and low for it. I don't always use the sweetner as I sometimes just do without so I put the straw in the cup at a stop light only to find I had a large SWEET tea. I LOVE sweet tea!!! I mean LOVE it!! I drank about 4-6 ounces (of the 32 ounces) and DUMPED THE REST DOWN THE DRAIN!! I have NEVER done that! So instead of drinking 12 points of tea I only had 2! YES! I am so freakin proud of myself!!!!!

rachaelm
09-30-2011, 10:36 AM
TW - WOW, dumping that tea was a big deal. I'm a southern girl and I love my sweet tea too. GREAT JOB!!

It is hard to make the healthier choices, but something about this time, I've just decided I'm tired of the same ole, and am ready to make some positive changes in my life. I'm proud of my parent's too, we live next door to them, so we eat together several times a week. My mom has been really supportive, and has made sure to have a salad with every meal, and even dug me out a measuring cup the other night, so I could be sure how much food I was eating!

goodnuff
09-30-2011, 01:55 PM
That is so cool of your Mom to dig out a measuring cup rachaelm. Give her a hug from me! I love that so many of us are so sure this is the time regardless of the time it takes or th eff ups along the way!
YAY tw!!! Must have been the day for tossing stuff. I had a crazy busy day yesterday so went to a grcery deli and got an egg salad croissant. Two bites in I decided it wasn't tasty enough for the PointsPlus it would cost me so I tossed it. I stopped at this fab restaurant and ordered the best chicken salad sandwich on wheat, only ate 1 slice of bread. I tracked....went way over my points than had a mini binge in the middle of the night. Stufing and canned jellied cranberries. Frustrated!
Today is a new day! Hoping the rain holds out til tonight so I can get my walk in. I'm getting my clean on right now....gotta take advantage when the cleaning bug hits.

Oh yeah, any good recipes for dried lentils, pintos, red beans, rice, spaghetti noodles or canned chicken or tuna. I have $60 for 2 weeks of groceries and that is what I have in my cupboard. Thank goodness for my survivalist friend moving and leaving her food supply behind for me....lol, I knew her crazy would come in handy one day.
If you have any post them in the october thread cuz it's that time...

Rachaelm: That is SO impressive of your mom. I'm glad you are getting that kind of support. It will help as go throughout this journey. I agree with Goodnuff that it is cool we have all decided that "this is it!" we are getting healthy!
Goodnuff: Good for you for tracking! I know it is upsetting to have gone over in points and to have had a mini binge but hopefully you are back on track again today. Keep up that tracking and exercise. Sorry I don't have any recipes. I can follow them but I'm not good at creating them. It does sound like you could do a rice and beans night though and a spaghetti with maybe some fresh tomatos and olive oil??
I'm doing pretty good. I was STARVING earlier but made it through without any "damage". I continue to track and have my WI in the morning. I can feel that TOM will be here any day. I still hope I see some results on the scale but I need to prepare myself just in case. I AM joining the YMCA today. I went and toured and got the paperwork last night and will go back tonight and finish it up. Now, just to USE that membership. :-)
I doubt I will be online over the weekend but will definately be back Monday. So hang in there, keep tracking, keep making good choices, and have a FABULOUS weekend!!! NO EXCUSES!
