I personally count calories, I keep mine between 1300-1400 per day. I chose this method because it is free, no weekly dues to pay, and because it allows me to have a flexible food plan.
I would also encourage you to find some type of exercise that you enjoy and try to incorporate some weight training into it. This will help with excess skin.
The most important piece of advice I can give you is NOT TO GIVE UP! If you have a bad meal, bad day, bad week, hop back onto the wagon and keep trying.
