Way to go for everyone who lost or stayed the same this week!!
I'm down. I am now down 10 pounds all together. That's not since last week but since I've gotten serious again. I can't believe it. I think I'm on a roll! I'd like to be down 5 more pounds by Valentine's Day.

Stay warm!!
Susan :)

Thanks,
Not eating carbs seem to be a big key factor for me. I'm eating them in the morning for breakfast but that's it. I'm sticking to whole grain products and the carbs that occur naturally in fruits and veggies. I just don't seem to be as hungry when it comes time to eat which is a first. :D

Bummer, I just had to re-log into the site in order to post. Hmm wonder why...oh well it wasn't too hard :dizzy:

Susan, way to go on the losses!! Sounds like you have it figured out with avoiding too many carbs. I'm sure you will hit your mini goal by V-day.

You're doing great walking and working them arms Tina...keep it up and you'll be in excellent shape come swim suit season!!

Hi all,
Hefty, let me add my "hello" . We're so happy you are with us.

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes for my non-flabby arms. I'm religiously doing my exercises.

I stepped on the scales this morning and wasn't pleased. Then, I remembered that I was thirsty last night right before betime. I drank a whole Diet Cherry Coke. Hence, water retention. I'll learn some day.

Everyone stay warm.

We need some members from Florida or Hawaii!!! They could keep telling us how nice and warm it was.

p.s. Susan, I like your new picture.

Welcome to the group Hefty, it's always nice to have new people to talk with.

I've been to Hawaii :flow2: and it was sunny every day!! Does that help you out Tina... I bet they never get snow  (thats my version of a snowman...LOL). Current conditions in Honolulu (as of 12:30am my time) 73 degrees!! I'm sure you all wanted to know that :)

Sounds like you have a great goal in site Sis., with several months to accomplish it.

Ok I'm doing good, think I'm finally healthy. And its late, and I'm heading to bed... have a great week all.

Woo Hoo to Hefty!!! Way to go girl!!!

I'm still journaling which is quite a surprise that I am sticking with it even on the weekend. I still need to up the water intake, but I'm doing better than I used to. Points have been great. I was over by 1 point one day, and then yesterday I was 5 below my minimum. I guess it all balances out in the end. Now if my scales keep showing a loss, I will be really pleased.

At Curves they are having a challenge for the month of February. There are 3 prizes for the top weight and inches loser. I signed up for it just as an incentive to me. I'm sure I won't be in the top 3, but it's worth a shot.

Snowing again today. Just in the amount of time we were in church, it snowed over an inch. We couldn't believe it when we walked out. The roads are drifting in places again, so it won't surprise me if we are on a delay again in the morning.

Speaking of school, I have some math papers that I need to finish grading. Then I'll pack up the bag and put it in the car so I don't have to worry about it in the morning. Sometimes I don't focus very well at 7:00 when I'm getting my things together.

Great going Glen!! Got in tips for the rest of us on how you did it? You did wonderful for your 1st weigh in :high:

Keep up the journalling Tammy, and you never know, you might just win one of them prizes at Curves! :cb:

Speaking of journalling, I need to go write down what I ate for lunch today, so far it's the first food I've had today. I almost ate a Cookie/candy thing and it would have been 4 pts... but I decided I could find something much better to spend 4pts on :)

Have a great week all.....Dee

Gee seems like you blink and there are tons of posts to read.
Welcome Hefty...you can do it...and you've found a great group with the Thursdays. ( I always did like Thursdays)

Tina...treadmilling wow...keep it going girl....you will see the results..but if the scales dont show results right away dont fret...when I exercise harder seems like it takes a while for the scale to catch on.

Tammy...journalling is key...it keeps us honest and focused. I always do it throughout the day....so I know going into the supper and evening how many points I have.

Sis ...you will make it to onederland..I just know you will. Just keep doing what you are doing...and it will happen.

Auntie...you seem to have found the key to your loss.....its important that each of us find out what works for us. For me..its to keep a balance of all groups....I must make sure I have protein to keep my metabolism running. Also, if I shortchange my fruits and veggies I dont have such great results even if I stay within my points.

I am hoping to hit 100 lbs lost this week....( did I just jinx it by typing it out loud? I hope not. The scale shows it already .
I have 2 more weeks ( 1.5 really) to go till Lifetime. I cant wait....could it be only 1 year 4 weeks since I joined WW. Seems amazing to me. If I can do it...you all can do it too. Believe in the power you possess inside and go for your goal.

Inch by inch, and pound by pound....we will make the weight go down.

Hi All,
(I just re-read my post and it looks more like a Chatters post. Oh well.)

Dee, you have wonderful willpower not eating that 4 pt. treat. Congrats on that journaling, too!!!
Thank you for the Hawaii weather update. I loved it!
Our weather was atrocious (sp?) yesterday. It rained and drizzled and sprinkled and then rained and .......need I go on.

Glen, what a fantastic loss. :D Please tell us a little about yourself, if you don't mind. Keep up the good work.

Susan, how's that knee doing? How long will you be on that one crutch?

Tammy, I bet that was a beautiful site coming out of church to all that snow. I hope it wasn't hard getting down the road going home. You putting your stuff in the car the night before school is an excellent idea.

Kady----you'll make that 100. You didn't jinx yourself. ;)

Sis---My birthday is in June, also. Great minds and people have the same months. :s:

Stay focused y'all.

P.S.

Kady , how does having enough protein keep your metabolism running? How much do you have each day?

Tina

Kady
01-27-2003, 11:53 AM
As I understand it , protein is good for the following reasons:

It satisfies you more, so you aren't hungry.

It takes more energy(calories) to burn up....therefore your metabolism is raised or kicked up a notch

Im not sure how much you need or what WW states ( it was in the first booklet)

I just know that its easy for me to not eat meat ...so I watch that...make sure I have meat 3-4 times a week and then use other high protein foods...nuts, eggs, yogurt, cheese to keep the protein up
Most people tend to shortchange protein cause it is higher points ( or can be) but it is important in the whole picture.

Hope this helps.

On the topic of protein..... I would just soon have my whole diet consist of carbs and the occassional protein!! Now go figure!!

Okay everyone, it's time to post those results here!!! ;)

I didn't go to a meeting today nor did I want to step on the home scales. However , I feel thinner. You know that feeling? It's such a good one. I'm doing my tricep exercises everyday. I'm walking. I am actually journalling on most days. Wahooo!!!
by Valentine's Day, I'm gonna have better looking arms and a slimmer me.

Let's get posting, group.

WOOHOO - I lost 4.4 lbs at my WI today. Made a mini-goal, getting to the 230s by DH's b-day. My next mini-goal is to get my first 10% by Valentine's Day. So I have to lose 4.4 lbs. in two weeks. Hopefully I can do it.

Now I have to hop on my spin bike - this fat ain't gonna leave on it's own, ya know.

Kady, I am so proud of you!!! Over 100 pounds. What an inspiration to all of us.

Dee, super job on 13 pounds this month!!

As of my WI on Thursday, I am down 5.5 pounds since Jan. 2. I am still pleased with that!!
I have to go in to the doctor once a month for a weight and BP check. Hope he's pleased, and I hope I can keep it up.

What a tragic loss with the shuttle. We've had so many losses here (my cousin's husband, my cousin, and a young guy here in town) lately. I feel so down, yet my faith is helping me make it through. I don't know if that makes sense or not. I feel awful for the families of those who were lost.

Susan - I was called Cindy when I was little, but switched to Cynthia when I became an adult, just sounded more mature. It doesn't bother me, but it does look weird. :)

Kady - WOW, that is SO great!!! And Lifetime coming as well, Congrats girl.

This is not going to be the best year for the U.S. Columbia, war, internal strife from the war. It's going to be hard to remember that one of the best things about this country is the right it's citizens have to live their lives and have their opinions and express those opinions. I know my friends and I are going to diverge on some things coming up, but they will still be my friends. I guess I'm just trying to get myself ready mentally for the $h!t that's probably going to be hitting the fan by the end of this month.
