Hi! I'm new to this specific forum on 3FC. I'm wondering if anyone has read Made to Crave! It is one of my most favorite books. I'm not into touchy-feely type of books, so I'm glad this is not that kind (though it sounds like it might be). It also doesn't tell you what to eat or how. It's about how food can be a barrier between you and God and the person he wants you to be. Super cool book...easy read. Check it out!

I reAd this book at the start of my journey and it made all the difference. I am about to reread now that I made goal.

Yes, I read this book and it was such a blessing and encouragement to me. In fact I started a book study on it on Facebook.

I started it and got sidetracked. I need to get back into it. Starting over!

I have also read this book and it definitely opened my eyes to how I was putting food and deteriorating thoughts before God. I am so glad I read it and am going to read it again myself. Is there a study group online, does anyone know?

A friend of mine recommended this book, but I have been dragging my feet on it. I always buy books, read the first few chapters, and then stop. I guess I need to just buy it - and complete it this time.

{EDIT} Just ordered it! {/EDIT}

Hmmmm, a dear friend just gave this to me as a Christmas gift.

I haven't posted on this board in a long time. I've regained enough weight to go up two sizes and I'm desperate to not regain it all.

Hmmmm, maybe I logged on here and had your thread jump out at me for a reason....

Note to self--READ THE BOOK :D

I don't suppose we could have an online bible study, here at 3FC????

I read it, gave it to my Mother, she started it, bought her own copy, then she and I read it together, a chapter a week, discussing it over the phone.

I've been reading it on my kindle. I want to buy a hard copy so I can highlight and underline and go back and back again and again. She really has some good insight and it helps me to have something to pick up when I'm feeling tempted to go eat a bowl of ice cream or bag of chips.

I just bought this today, actually! I was going over shelf after shelf of Christian inspiration books at B&N and this was the first and only book that stood out to me; so I got it.

Tomorrow I will begin a 21-day Primal challenge and I hope that the insights in this book will help me in my journey. I'm glad others have had success with it! I could use some of God's perspective in this area, that's for sure.

02-06-2012, 08:59 AM
I'm officially starting it again today! I now have a 'plan' that I'm following so I'll need the extra support.

02-16-2012, 07:48 PM
I also have this book, and have been wanting to read it, but am involved in a women's group where we are doing a different book.

I can see many of these posts are really old, but I would think if there are 3 or 4 of us who want to work through this book together on this thread, we surely could do it.

We would just have to pick a time frame to start and how long to read the chapter and how long to discuss it, before moving on.

Someone would need to head it up, I could or any of you who have been here longer than me. Just chime in if you are interested.

Ellie what is your "plan" are you on a particular diet? Happy to find like-minded folks to support each other

I was so thinking about this book today! I bought it, over a year ago! Now it's definitely time to read it! Thanks for all the great reviews on it!

I am reading now and love it!! So much hits so close to home. I wish I could mmorize it!

Well, at the time the post was written I was doing WW. I've had a series of setbacks here. Things going on with the family etc. That I can no longer afford WW. Now that things have settled down a bit and I realize that I need to take care of ME no matter what - I'm getting serious. I'm going to do WW at home - since I have all the books etc. I've dug out my Made to Crave and PrayFit.

I'm up for a study/discussion if anyone else is.

I recently purchased this and haven't yet read it. I am looking forward to it but definitely am happy I found this specific sub-forum. I have found that sometimes I use food as my support when things are tough. I know that being closer to God and making that a priority could help me in my journey as a whole (not just with weight loss). I realize that this is an older thread but if anyone else is interested in reading together, I would totally be in.

There was another person Ellie who wrote recently as well. I subscribed to this forum back in February when I had been thinking about this book as well.

If the 3 of us can get going that would be great. I bought the book a long time ago hoping my local Bible study group would do it, but they didn't.

Diet-wise, I have issues affording good food. I have been reading Metabolism Miracle and find I fit the description of someone who needs that type of diet. Finding the money for it and a way to manage it with everything else I have going will be another matter. I may have to wait until the end of July.

I'm in! :coffee: I just pulled my book out of the bookcase. Going camping this weekend so I'll bring it with me. Want to discuss chapter 1 next Thursday? 7/19?

Aunt Nelly - do you have an Aldi near you? I'm finding that they're produce is getting better and better. I use them to help fill my $$ gap in the budget. I can get more for my money. They have brown rice now and some other things that we use around here. (We're going clean eating/traditional in our house). The more fresh foods the better.

07-12-2012, 10:06 AM
Yes, we have an Aldi, but not one near at all. If we did, I'd be going! We used to go every month and pile 2 carts over the top, oh about 18 years ago .... that was when we had money coming in all at once, instead of like now, when it comes in slowly since we're self-employed. Also, that was when gas was cheap, too. It has to be worth the drive and save more than the gas money.

The last time I went I had noticed the produce was a good price. Some other things like meat and cheese weren't as cheap. They also used to have a printed flier of all the prices, now they don't so I can't be sure if I would even save money for my's about 45 mins.

I am thinking next Thursday would normally be good but that is the day before we leave on a short week end trip and I'm guessing that I'll be kind of swamped getting me and the DH and 5 other kids packed up and ready to all that food we have to take to save money....we will buy the cold stuff once we get there at the walmart nearby.

If you find someone else to discuss, go ahead without me. I have to stay off the computer next week to accomplish what needs to get done.

I appreciate your making a PLAN!! We need that !!:cp:

Ohhh i would like to join in, if you arent already finished? i will buy the book asap and read it!!!!!

07-24-2012, 02:03 PM
Hi! I don't know what happened to Ellie since she had a plan and it was a bad time for her.

Do get it, we haven't even started yet! The more we have join the better. Ellie had suggested above to start with the one chapter and discuss it on a certain day here. If she would jump back in maybe we can set up a new goal date for the first chapter.

Hi all,
I read this book earlier this year as part of a weight loss support group at my church. It's great. I'd like to join in the discussion too.

I'm new to 3FC and learning the etiquette as I go, so bear with me!
