I realized that while I track my weight weekly in various challenges, when those challenges end, I don't have all that information in one single place for reference. So I decided to keep it all centralized in one thread.

Everyone is welcome to join if they would like a similar record!

I'll post in here, too. Maybe Sandi will put it as a "Sticky" so we don't have to look for it every week.

When it gets too long, I may go back and edit to replace early weeks as a monthly total.

I started this trip on January 13 when I joined a really neat local gym. I weigh in on Wednesday. I also track my BMI on the first Wednesday of the month.

I subscribed to this thread so I can keep finding it each week.

Hope that some others may find it helpful to have it too, though!

Hi Lin -

I'm still updating but I guess no one but us wanted to keep track like this. I like to be able to see my progress from the beginning all in one place, but maybe others use non-3fc methods for that?

linJber
09-28-2011, 08:22 AM
I like this because it's right here, but I keep a more elaborate spread sheet on Excel that shows my weekly goal (it had been about 1% per week) and progress in several areas. It figures weight loss this week, weight loss overall, if I'm ahead of or behind my goal, BMI, etc. I like having this thread to keep it here on 3fc to refer to as needed, though.

Down to 164.0 today after a 2 week stall at 165.4. that keeps pretty close to wanting to slow down to about 1 pound a week until I hit goal.

Hope you have a great day.

Hi Cathi -

I have this saved as a subscription so that it's easy for me to find every week to update. I post the same info on a whole bunch of challenges but I like having a complete list all in one place.

Have fun on your trip!!

Back from vacation. I am up 4.2 lbs. I am ok with that. My goal was not to gain more than 5. I am pretty sure it will all fall back off quickly. I am pretty bloated and just need to get back OP.
233.6

I want to be in the 220's by November. And am trying to figure out when I should set my Onderland goal for. I am starting to worry sbout the holidays. I am thinking it would be a great Valentines goal.

Welcome home, Cathi. I know the pounds will fall back off quickly. Mid February seems like a reasonable goal to lose about 30 pounds. It's 4 months with 3 major holidays (if you count Christmas and New Year's as 2 separate occasions rather than a week long food fest!) If you can lose in all the "regular" weeks and maintain during the holidays, you should be good.

Hi sassyangies -

this thread is for anyone who wants to keep track of their weight on a weekly basis, separate from any challenges or other places you might post it. If you are a weekly weigher or just want to pick one day per week to count as your "official" weight for the week, any day of the week is fine!

and welcome Madame Souza too!!

Hi, all. Hope everyone is having a good week. I'm only going to WI on the first Wednesday of the month for a while and see how it goes, but you can't get rid of me! I'll check back to see how everyone does later in the week.

Welcome Sassyangies. You have been popping up everywhere! Staying checked in here will help you stay focused. It always helps me.

Hi Lin and thanks for the welcome..
Well, today is officially my first weigh in. Not quite a week, but I want to weigh in every thursday. Sad to say I'm exactly the same weight. Not too bad of a thing because I didn't gain, but I want to loose. I allready know the mistakes I made and I am planning on doing better this week.

I'm not sure when everyones weigh in day is except for Lin, but I'll keep checking back to see where everyone's at. Hope everyone has a great day!!

I had my second weigh in today and I am happy to say I lost 5 pounds this week. I'm super excited because my efforts are paying off. Yay!! And I have not been feeling deprived and Im still having my coffee. So I'm super excited.

Dewittmba,
Congrats on the excersise! That's a hard thing for me too. I just don't want to do it ya know. Having a new baby is hard so it's good that your even trying and you'll get back on track. Your on your way! Also I definetely here ya on the heel spurs. I've had them for years, plus tendonitis in both my ankles and it hurts. It's good you have a coach maybe he can tell you some good stretches to do before and after you run. Good luck!

congrats sassyangies, that a great loss. Good to see all your hard work pay off!

and hang in there dewittmba - I had a gain of 3.6 lbs two weeks ago, but I expect to finally be below my low weight prior to that, and get to change my ticker again! And in my case, I don't even know why I had the gain - I gained about 2.5 lbs even while being 100% on plan and then I did have a tiny cheat (2 funsize bags of M&Ms) but that wouldn't cause that much of a gain. I am betting it was TOM related for me, and with a new baby, you've got all kinds of hormonal stuff going on.

I just saw this and I would love to do a weekly weigh-in thread! I can't do daily weighing it drives me crazy. I gained a little, so I've been weighing random days. I was 273.4 on Monday and I checked this morning and I'm down to 271.2! Hopefully Monday will see me in the 260s!

Dewittmba - Congrats on the baby and on getting right into the swing of things afterward. I struggle with plantar fasciitis at times. One thing that really helps is rolling my foot on a golf ball for a couple minutes several times a day. And really stretching it by putting a strap around the ball of my foot while sitting with my leg out and pulling back on the strap like I'm trying to make the top of my foot fold back to my ankle. Maybe this will help.

I did weigh in this week even though I'm only going to weigh once a month now, and I was 161.6. I was 162 when I decided to maintain, so this is good.

Cathi - hang in there. Getting back on your feet after surgery takes a while. Glad you're doing OK.

April - those 2 bags of fun size m&m's didn't cause your gain! You know that. It was just real life butting in where we don't expect it. You'll be back down very soon.

Welcome, Chloe. Daily weighing makes me nervous. I do stick to a set day to have my official weigh in. It has always been Wednesday, and now it will be the first Wednesday of the month. You'll like it in here.

oh, I know, most of the gain came before I even ate them anyway! lol!

But I stayed on track and TOM *finally* showed up this week so I got my whoosh and I should be posting a good number for the week when I do my WI on Sunday.

Well, yesterday was my first slip since starting my new life. I'm not beating myself up for it, but I am trying to figure out why I did what I did. I was thinking alot about our money situation and I started to stress at work. I work at a grocery store that's in a very high end part of town so I always see people who are on vacation and spending allot of money or just going out and stuff like that or just house Moms that are stay at home Moms that are just grocery shopping and I start thinking about how we don't have allot of money and I think sometimes things would be easier if we did have more money.. And on and on... So I started snacking, telling myself I'm hungry. I need to stop stressing over the little things and just be thankful for what I do have. A wonderful husband, a wonderful Son who is a maricle, and were healthy and have jobs. That's what matters! So I am now going to focus on why I'm eating and being thankful.
Thanks for listening! I hope everyone is having a great start their weekend.

You can subscribe to a thread (look at the upper right of the thread) and then when you click the User CP (the left on the dark purple bar above the threads), you'll see a list of your subscriptions so you'll know where you posted before and can update.

hope that helps!

...to post my weigh-ins.

Hi, all -- I just posted a re- re- (re?) introduction and have been browsing around for a place to post a weekly weigh-in since I can't hold myself accountable, in spite of my best intentions!

I am trying to Weight Watchers at home because I can't afford the meetings right now. Earlier this year I had great success with Weight Watchers at Work, losing 30#. I'm really happy with the plan, but have managed to be distracted by life and baked goods and need to do something NOW to get the scale moving back downwards.

This morning I was not happy to see 241.5# on the scale - a gain! - but I didn't stay on plan last week, so I wasn't surprised. Today is a new day, and I'm determined to ignore bread-y things all day long.

Looking forward to getting to know more of you & to the mutual support I found here in previous attempts!

Denise

Hi, Denise. Welcome back. Just dust yourself off and get back to it. There's no other way! We're all in the same boat and welcome the company.

April - I'm watching your chicky to see when it changes to 60! Very soon, now.

Sassy - I'm catching up from last week. You know, we all have days when we wish we were in a different situation. I'm 60 and this isn't where I thought I'd be at this age. But life is still good. More money might be nice. But eating doesn't bring more money, so just let yourself have the bad day you did and move on. When DD was small she would often, as most kids do, ask for something I couldn't afford. I would ask her if she thought we had everything we needed. She'd say we did. I'd ask her if we had more than we needed, and again she would agree that we did. Most of us have more than we need. I think it's important to keep things in perspective. I know you do - even without knowing you, really, because you have such a fantastic attitude about everything I've ever read in your posts. Someone with your outlook has to be able to see things for what they are. Just don't get discouraged by the things that are out of your control. Do the best you can in all things and most everything will fall into place.

I will be weighing in on Wednesday - first Wednesday of November. We'll see how this maintenance game is going. I think things are OK - I don't notice any difference in how my jeans fit - even the dark blue ones that are the skinniest ones! We'll all know in 2 days!

Have a great week!

Lin

Hi LIn, thanks for your kind words. Your a very supportive person and I'm glad I have met you on here. Yes I can put things in perspective and I'm moving on from my bad day. That's exactly what I intend to do. Good luck on your weigh in tomorrow!

Cath, Hello!

So did everyone have a great Halloween. I had such a great time taking my son tricker or treating. I went and got my Mom and Dad and brought them over to spend time with my son and I. Now when they're around a tend to eat more since they drive me crazy. I did good, but not as goo as I wanted to do. I don't think because I was annoyed, but more because I wasn't prepared and ran out of time so we ended up having the roasted chickens for dinner baked potatoes, and chocolate cake I made for my dads birthday. I ate small portions, but I ate candy too. I'm over it. I'm sure I'll still see a loss this thursday.

I hope everyone had a great Holiday and I hope your having a great Morning too!

I don't usually update my weight or change my ticker except on Sundays, but today is a special occasion.

Great Job April! That's awesome. I know I'm waiting patiently (sorta:) for me to make it to the two's. I had my weigh in today and I'm super excited to say I have lost another 5 pounds. I wish I could do my signature so I could put a ticker under my post with all the cute stuff.. Oh well, almost to my 20 day mark.

Hi, everyone. This is my week to weigh in after a month of trying to stay off the scale and just maintain at 162 or so. I forgot to post yesterday. Here it is:

November 2nd weight was 161.2. I'm very happy with this. One month of maintenance down, the rest of my life to go!

Welcome, Hotcoco. This is a very friendly thread - you'll be happy in here.

Cathi - Fantastic loss for the week. It's great to be at an all-time low. Just keep on going now, and every week is a new low for you.

April - as I've commented in your other thread - fantastic job. You are so motivated! Just keep it up.

Sassy - it is good to have friends in here, isn't it? It's nice to know we can rely on each other. I don't think a little cake or candy will mess you up too much. Good luck with your next weigh in.

I'm off to bed - too many late nights are catching up to me.

Lin that is so awesome!!! A whole month and you did it! You are definetely an inspiration to me girl. Wow.

I still lost 5 pounds this week on my weigh in yesterday, so I think I'll be ok. It was weird though I think because I lost another 5 pounds my mind set was switching to "it's ok to treat myself I lost 5 pounds" so wierd to be thinking like that and realizing that is what I'm doing. So I'm glad I realized what I was doing. I did still eat an extra bite here and there, but nothing like I would normally do.

I hope everyone has an awesome Friday. I have to work all weekend as usual, but that's ok. need some time out of the house!!

ended up with a total of 3.8 for the week. Under the weather with strep throat so hoping that I'll see some more progress at next week's WI but at this point, maintaining where I am will be ok too! lol!

First, a huge congrats to April. I am so proud of your accomplishment. I can't wait to get there.

Denise - how is the Weight Watchers at home working? I hope all is going well.

Sassy - you are awesome. You have jumped in on the boards with both feet and are doing wonderfully. Keep up the great work.

Lin - I have to say you are a great inspiration to the rest of us. I read all your posts. You have learned so much in your journey and are so willing to share your insight. I am grateful to you.

Hotcocoa - Welcome. I hope all stays on plan for you.

As for me. I am at 229.8, which is up 1 lb from my big loss next week. I am not letting myself freak out about it. I am working on my attitude. I need to be a more positive person. This is a life change, not a diet and it will come off eventually.

Hi ladies!!
Cathi your doing great. Maybe the gain was because you had such a huge loss the previous week. Well, your doing great so keep it up. Working on the positive attitude is good too. I know we all could use that not just us ladies trying to loose weight.

I hope everyone has a great Tuesday!!

Sassy - great job. One bite here and there never hurts. It's all the "one more" bites that get us!

April - hope you're feeling better. Take care of yourself first and then get back on plan.

Cathi - I'm sure the trend will be downward again next week. Keep on keepin' on! And thanks for the kind words.

Hi all! I joined Weight Watchers in September and have lost 19.5 pounds so far. I'd like to participate in this weekly weigh in thread! At my last doctor visit which was months ago, I weighed 315 pounds. I lost about 10 on my own before joining weight watchers, but I'm just going to track my weight watchers progress for simplicity sake! I just enjoy seeing those falling numbers in one place week by week and I've been looking for a thread that doesn't disappear at the end of the month! Want to thank you guys for starting something like this and I'll bookmark it and update weekly. Support is key! Thats one thing I've definitely learned from my time at Weight Watchers! Good luck to everyone else in the thread, lets lose together!

Yesterday was so awesome. I had a baby shower to go to. I didn't eat anything at the shower and that was hard because the food looked so so good. Oh my gosh I wanted it so bad, but I felt so good when I got home.

Work was good. We were busy and I love when were busy because the time just flys by.

Thanks for the warm welcome :)

Down another 2 pounds this week! Yay! Hoping to hit my 10% goal by mid-December which is 275. .I don't have a huge concern with thanksgiving and the holidays - overall my family just isn't big on holidays in regards to food. We'll have turkey and a few other things but we'll be downsizing the amount from last year so it should be somewhat healthy. It's just one day! Not a week! Going to do my best to re purpose the food elsewhere into more healthy things after the big day.

Last week on WEDNESDAY, the day after I weigh in with WW, of course I weighed myself at home and was 282 when I had weighed in at 286 the day before! Went back to 284 by the time Tuesday had rolled around again. Would be nice to nail 280 and pass it as much as I possibly can by the end of the month!

Last week was a crummy week for working out. Had a lot of things going on so this week I'm going to work my butt off 3-4 days for SURE.

linJber

Cathi - I started in January with a sort of intuitive idea of calories, etc., as my plan for the day. I looked things up and realized that portions were WAY smaller than we think, so I cut back on the main foods in portion - like meat, cheese, etc. I cut out all crap. I cut way back (1 or 2 small servings a week) on bread, pasta, potatoes, and rice. And I greatly increased veggies and fruit and fiber. I read labels and tried to stay low in sodium. I ate lots of salads with chicken, eggs, or left over steak thrown in. I tried not to drink any calories, but also stayed away from diet soda, so I drank a lot of water. I kept it very simple.

Now, I just add back some of the things I took out. I eat a few more servings of bread or potatoes, for example. I eat a little bit of candy. I try to stay to my "diet" way of eating most days and let myself eat whatever sounds sensible if I go out to eat or am having dinner with friends. I still try not to eat snacks late at night. I pay attention to whether I'm actually hungry. It seems to be about the same as losing - with privileges. I know how my daughter eats. I try to eat like she does - very sensibly with realistic portions most of the time. Go nuts once in a while and then go back to extra sensible for a week to balance it back out. Exercise.

"Holidays Off" means one day for Thanksgiving and maybe 3 for Christmas. No more! LOL

KD - great job this week. Keep it up. You seem to have everything under control.

April - where are you? Starting to worry. Check in and let us know how you're doing.

Hi ladies.. It's been such a stressful week with Jury duty which I ended up not being picked and my son has been sick. He is never sick so it seems like when he does get sick it's awful and just at night. Just when we need to get sleep ya know. Weight loss was a fantastic week for me though. Today is my weigh in and I lost 4 pounds. I am super excited!! There were a few challenges on my plate that I overcame. yay!!! I haven't lost this much in a long time.

April where are you? Are you ok? Are you feeling better? Let us know drop a line!!

KD great job on the 2 pounds that's awesome!! Your well on your way!

Cathi 220 by the end of the year definetely doable. I'm sure you can do it. I'm trying really hard to just come up with some healthy dishes I can eat for Thanksgiving and eat allot of like veggies.. Then I can eat a little of the other stuff that's not so good for me. Im definetely nervous about it though..

Hi, everyone -- I'm back, finally. It's been a very, very busy few weeks (which included a not-diet-friendly trip to Southern California), but I'm re-committed and very happy to see (drum roll) 236.5# on the scale this morning. (We won't mention what the scale said when I got back from my trip, ok?)

I was really struggling on my own, and I saw a good deal on a 3-month WW online membership, so I signed up for that. Simply tracking everything I eat has helped me immensely.

KD, it's nice to see another Weight Watcher on here! I have been happy with the program - I like that there are really no "forbidden" foods - and I see you're doing well with it, too.

Here's hoping I can stay on track through Thanksgiving. Luckily, I guess, we eat at my sister's place, so there are not a lot of goodies around my house after the big feast.

Happy Turkey Day everyone!

Denise

The good news is that I've lost 5.2 in the past 3 day. The bad news is that in the couple of weeks of being sick and having eat carbs to tolerate my meds, I gained a total of 10.2

So my high was 209, I'm back down to 203.8 this morning and looking forward to getting rid of the remaining 5 lbs to be able to start losing new weight again.

Glad to here it.. I know being sick can really throw you off your cilter (sp) ya know. In the past when I would get sick it would stop my plan and I couldn't recoup from it for months. I hate that I am that kind of person that's and all or nothing type of person. This is one thing I want to change about myself. I want to be able to keep going if I have a huge set back. It's like I'm stuck and can't go anymore. Good example the gym. I used to go about 8 times a week. It never did anything for me because my food was out of control, but I was going. Well, then my sis stopped going and I couldn't go alone, then 8 months later I started going again 4 days a week and my son started school and for some reason I was so used to the habit of putting him in the daycare at the gym I stopped going because I needed to do it the same way I was doing it. So weird that I'm wired that way. Needless to say I have not gone back yet. I do plan on going back I'm just waiting to loose a little more so I can fit into my swimsuits that I have because I do water aerobics.

Anyway I'm ranting. I hope everyone has a great Monday!!

I hope we all do well tomorrow. I, for one, am making sure I have one day of holida and not use it as an excuse to take the whole week off and restart on Sunday.

I am down just a bit more this week. 225.8. I need to up my exercise a bit, I think. Now, I run 3 miles every other day. I think I need to get on that strength training plan sooner rather than later.

Just a quick check in. Sassy-sure hope you're better soon.

I have been away from the scale as planned but I think I did OK yesterday. I did notice I had less food on my plate than anyone else at the table. I did eat a little of everything and tried to keep it under control.

I went to Kohls at midnight with my cousin and got a few things for my daughter and a sweater for me. My cousin got things she wanted, too. We only went to Kohls and then home.

Today I helped my cousin ( same one ) insulate her attic along with her sister and brother. It was hard to go off plan while doing that!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi, everyone. My scale reads 235 this morning - I hoped for a bigger loss, but at least the numbers are moving in the right direction!

Thanksgiving wasn't horrible for me - except for the 3 glasses of wine I had - oops! I've been 100% on plan since then, however, and have even gotten off my rump and started exercising. The hard part will be incorporating the extra activity into my workweek - and I have evening classes M-T so it truly is difficult to plan workouts for those days.

April, glad you are feeling better -- and Sassy, take care of yourself! Lin, you're doing great! It's so helpful, I think, when "maintainers" share their progress with those of us still working at it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who lost weight in the past and then, once at goal, thought the hard part was over.

Hope everyone has a good week...I am very busy but trying hard to plan meals & not give myself any excuses not to have another "losing" week!

Hey all. Sounds like everyone survived Thanksgiving.
Diva, - I know how you feel about the wine, I didnt overeat, but I definitel overdrank all weekend.

Lin - Glad to hear you are still so disciplined on thanksgiving. Did you try to be extra careful, or was that your normal portion. Did you get your computer fixed?

Sassy - so sad to hear you have pneumonia. I hope you get through it quickly.

April - How are you doing? Did you make it through Thanksgiving?

I made it through the holidays up a lb. But, we partied all weekend. So I call it a wash. With December coming this week, I have to move into winter mode. This includes changing up my routine for the barn chores that increase now. We have 10 horses that need extra caring for in the winter. I am planning to get up early to exercise, then run at night after chores are done. Usually things slow down in the winter, but not here, so much to take care of, family, animals and this year time for myself...

Sassy - glad you're feeling better. I broke my rule and decided to weigh in today. It was making me nuts! I was 162. That's up a pound from last week when I weighed in for the Thanksgiving challenge. Not too bad. I was out of town from Wed through Tues. There was so much food! (We are all fantastic cooks!) At meals I tried to eat a small portion of anything I wanted. I ate tiny slivers of pie and other desserts. I tried not to eat between meals. We had so many family meals and a birthday celebration, too. The car trips were 8 hours so those meals were packed. Sandwiches and cut veggies. Water. I relied on intuition. It seemed to work! I guess I don't have an excuse now to say I don't know what to do to maintain.

My friend's brother still has my computer. The repair will be free but it took longer than if I took it somewhere. I'll get it back tomorrow. He says it's good to go. Posting from my phone is so tedious. I just had to jump in here, though. Hope everyone has a great December. Sorry I'm not doing any personal comments.

Way to go, KD! That's pretty impressive, and great momentum going in to the new month.

Plodding along here, just 1 lb. down this week for a reading of 234 on the scale. I can't let myself get upset that I haven't made better progress, though, because I had a perfect storm of stress coming at me from work, school, and personal stuff -- and dealing with that mindfully instead of, um, culinarily, was a major accomplishment.

Meanwhile, the holiday parties have started here already. It would be easy to put my weight-loss plans on hold until the New Year, but I'm determined not to gain this year. This week is my last week of classes, so I'm planning to use the extra time I'll have to work my body, not my brain, for a change.

KD - Fantastic! you've probably set a record for most pounds lost over a Thanksgiving week! I hope the momentum keeps you going through the end of the year and beyond. You've set an example for all of us.

Dustdiva - I'll take any loss or even maintaining (which I did not do!) over a holiday week. Great job. Keep it up. I think your 220 goal is possible. Keep focused.

Sassy - you'll get the attitude back. You have such a great outlook, so just give yourself a little kick in the rear and get back into the mental game. I know you can do it.

I did yard work yesterday that should have been done weeks ago but I was out of town 2 weekends in a row and had to put it off. I'm so grateful for the extended fall season. I just hope it doesn't mean we'll have snow until May!

Let's all have a great on plan week.

Well, I'm almost positive I will not be loosing any weight this week. I'm so bummed about it and I'm not sure how to get my attitude back to where I was. I'm just lost. I'm definetely not giving up, I just need a kick in the rear!! I'm going to start a blog so I'm hoping that helps a little if I write what I'm feeling when I want to over eat. I'm not a good writer so I'm hoping I can stick with it. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday. I'll be back today I'm sure!

Come on, Sassy! You can do this. You're doing so well. I don't know how to help you get it back except to say that I know you can. You're so positive about everything. Just keep that in mind and keep on keepin' on! No other way.

Maybe take some of the choices out of your meal planning. I find it easier if I eat the same breakfast every day, for example. No choice there except what kind of fruit to put in my yogurt. And when I felt like I was not in total control I went to salads for supper every night for a while. With cheese or meat for protein, and lots of veggies thrown in. The fewer choices, the less likely I was to screw up. After a week or so I'd get my groove back.

I did read an article somewhere along the way that suggested limiting choices made it easier to stay on plan. Once you get you attitude back in line, go crazy with new recipes, etc. It might just be what you need to get back in the game. I KNOW you can do it!

Way to go, Sassy. I'm always amazed at the weeks I lost a lot and didn't expect it or stayed the same and thought I'd be down at least a few pounds. This is why we have to just stay with the plan we know is working for us all along. Have a great day and just hang in there.

Well, I'll join in here, because I am a reluctant weigher. I avoid the scale like the plague. The last two weeks I bit the bullet and weighed myself. Last week I gained 2 pounds and this week I lost a little over 1 lb.

December 2, 2011 - 174
December 9, 2011 - 172.8 (decided to start counting the ounces)

Good luck to everyone on their WI, and good luck keeping on track over the weekend - that is my biggest challenge!

Guac welcome!! What day is your weigh in? I'll look forward to hearing more from you. I'm the complete oposite of you. I like to weigh in everyday. I don't know why I feel like it keeps me on track.

Hope everyone has great WI's.. Talk to you soon!!

sassy - I tend to weigh in on Friday mornings. I guess it's because that's when I know I will get the best result. If I weighed in on Mondays, I would be depressed each week - after a long weekend going off track! I was going to try daily weigh-ins, but for now I will do weekly - baby steps!

Welcome, Guacamole! I like to weigh often, but don't get too fixated on the numbers. Now I'm trying to weigh in just once a month.

When I was trying to lose, I would weigh every day - or just about every day - but would only count what I weighed on Wednesday. I'm not sure why I picked Wednesday, but I know Monday would never work for me, either! I realized that my weight would go up and down a bit even when I stayed on plan, so I weighed every day to stay "aware," but I only recorded what was on the scale on Wednesday. I counted the fractions, too.

I'm not sure if this is helpful to anyone, but I made a weekly goal chart on Excel when I started losing in January. I projected out the whole year. I know how compulsive this sounds, but it really helped me. I figured I could lose about 3 pounds a week for the first 10 weeks, then I figured 1% per week. I set this up in my mind right at the beginning of my "diet." I had no idea where those numbers would take me, but as luck would have it, this plan took me to 152 pounds by 12-14. I originally set out to lose 100 pounds between January 13th and Christmas. When I got to 162 at the beginning of October, I decided to quit for a while because of baggy skin, but I was about 8 pounds ahead of schedule. I had a hard time quitting, but now I realize I didn't quit - I re-evaluated how I look and feel.

I think the numbers I used are realistic. Especially the 1% per week. I joined a lot of short term challenges in here, too. I'd recommend setting a personal ongoing weekly goal to anyone who wants to stay motivated and wants to be held accountable to themselves. This kept me in check every single week. There was no room for saying I'd make up for poor choices "next week" since I was holding myself accountable every week to a particular number. I think I made fewer poor choices because I knew I didn't want to see the number go up - at least on Wednesday.

There are as many ways to succeed at this as there are people trying to succeed, so I'm not saying my way is the best. I just felt it really helped me be honest about how well I was doing. Many times I wished I could be a little more laid back about the process, but that isn't me. I wanted to get the losing part done with - get into a set clothing size by winter, get a new coat and other more expensive winter items just once that would be good for years and not temporary, and then hold on for dear life. The thought of buying all new winter clothes and then having to do it again next year was unsettling from a financial point of view! I wanted to be done by winter. Now, if I do decide to lose a bit more, I'm still going to wear the same coats and jackets - the costly items - and shirts. The only possibility is needing new pants if I lose 10 more pounds. That cost is small when your pants wardrobe mostly consists of jeans from the thrift store!

Let's all make the best of the next 3 weeks until the end of 2011. Then we'll be set to do our best in 2012.

Lin, way to maintain for 2 months. That is so wonderful. I am slowly learning that life is a plan. If I plan, I succeed, if not, I fail. I am starting to see that in other aspects also. There is a pattern forming for me. I feel it.

Sassy, I am so proud to see you bounce back. YOU are also an inspiration. Keep it up girl.

Welcome Guacamole. I am also a daily weigher and only record on Tuesdays. I think if I waited a week, I would never stay on track. Good luck to you!

I got past the dreaded Friday. I am also learning that if I have a couple cocktails, I stall. So, I might have to impose a no drink until I hit the two teens. I am working on my goals for next year. I have them set up until July.

glad you're feeling better, Sassy, and that you were able to push through. Short term goals and challenges really do help.

Cathi - thanks for the kind words. I feel like planning and goals are the key to success, too. I'm really convinced that having a personal goal for every single Wednesday kept me on track for the time it took me to lose. Now this once a month weigh-in is pretty good, but I have to admit that I "cheat" and weigh myself if I'm feeling antsy about how I've done for a couple days - especially the 2 times I was away from home for 4 or 5 days at a time.

It used to be every Wednesday that counted. Now it's the first Wednesday, but I know if anything feels snug or if I feel like I messed up, my eating will change. I think that's the "intuitive" part, actually. I know my daughter weighs herself every day or several times a week, anyway, but she just adjusts to compensate for parties, etc. I think that's what we all have to do. Even when we're losing. Holding steady for a week or 2 over a vacation or holiday is a good thing, actually! It is what we need to do forever. We just have to adjust after a couple pounds if the scale goes up rather than say, "That tasted good - I'll keep doing it over and over even though I know I'll feel miserable about the gain." That's the mental place I'm trying to get to / stay in.

Hope everyone has a great Thursday.

Lin thanks.. I haven't been on here for a day or two and I'm sad to say that today's weigh in I did not loose any weight. I stayed at 286. We ate way too much this week and even though I made good choices I think I just ate too much anyway. My feet are hurting again this week too and my back so I'm not sure what's up with that either. I'm going to re-evaluate my diet and try and figure out if something I'm eating is causing my feet to hurt.

I hope everyone has a good day and weigh in if it's coming up..

Hi, everyone. Boy, it's been a tough week to get on here! I kept getting errors and messages about scripts. I double checked everything with my internet settings and couldn't (can't) figure out the problem so I downloaded Mozilla to use as my browser to see if that made a difference. It seems OK now. I was having trouble on both Explorer and Google Chrome. Anyone else have trouble?

Anyway - I'm ready to get back on plan here pretty quick. I was 163 on Wednesday (I put aside my "no scale" rule for the holidays) and that was OK. Christmas was spent out of town visiting family and I was a bit at their mercy with regard to what was available. And I caved in a bit in the treat department. And I cooked way more than I usually do for myself this week because my daughter was home. She's on her way back to NC and I miss her already! Tomorrow I am traveling about 100 miles to Cleveland to see the Transiberian Orchestra's Christmas concert. I'm going with 3 friends and we're staying ovenight. That means meals away from home for one more day. But, it's also the perfect way to get rid of all the extra holiday cookies I don't want in the house. I grew up with one of the people associated with TSO and we'll get to visit with him before the show. I'll give him a late birthday gift of COOKIES! Then it's back on plan until I get back to 160, then maintenance again. All in all, I think I did OK.

We have to remember my plan of eating like a thin person and realize that thin people probably gained a few pounds over the holidays. Now they are eating right and taking care of the extra weight. We have to do the same.

Of course - to all you who lost or held steady - YIPPEE! FANTASTIC JOB. Proof that it can be done!

I'm glad I got the problem with the computer straightened out. The thought of only being able to access 3fc from my phone was making me sad! Happy New Year everyone.

Hi all!

I have a "mid-goal" of losing 30 lbs by June 1st. I'm starting today and was looking for a good place to keep track of my weekly losses. To reach my goal, I need to lose a bit more than 1.5 lbs a week. I'm still overweight, so this goal is achievable. I just have to tread carefully.

I thought a little bit of solidarity would help me move forward, so I saw this thread and decided to join!

I'll do "official" weigh-ins every Sunday.

So, I'll be back Sunday! :)

Considering I am in the middle of TOM and I ate really badly last weekend and Monday, I guess I am glad I didn't show a gain. I started exercising on Monday, and continued for 5 days this week. So, maybe if I keep up the exercise and watch my diet and wait for TOM to end, next Friday I will see the scale go down? Here's hoping!

Good luck, everyone. Glad to see I'm not alone in this!!!

Down 3 lbs total. Only 27 to go...

Eh, not bad. I ate way too much one day this week, so I knew I wasn't going to make it. That's okay, my bigger goal is 6.4 lbs every week. Hopefully I can make it up next week. :)
