Hi everyone - new to this site and HOPING I am posting this right! ;) I have lost 70 lbs so far but still have plenty to go so I am moving more towards clean eating. I am almost completely there EXCEPT for 2 things; my meal replacement bars (Think Thin - they are amazing and I am not ready to give those up yet!) and laughing cow cheese. So I just read about the yogurt cheese and am very interested in making it. I actually am currently straining as I type! Would love any suggestions on specific herbs / spices I can use, maybe to use as a veggie dip? Love to cook and bake but for some reason I am spice rack challenged!

Thank you !!!

Dill would be a nice taste in yogurt cheese.

Sherry's creamy green vaggie dip is one of the best....
here is how you can make one.

1/2 cup light sour cream
1/2 cup mixed herbs, such as, parsley, chives and dill
1/3 cup light mayonnaise
1 tbsp. rice vinegar ;)
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
12 oz reduced-fat cream cheese, room temperature
Assorted vegetables, such as, baby carrots, sliced bell peppers, cucumbers

In blender, process sour cream, herbs, mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons water, ;)vinegar, salt, and cayenne pepper until smooth and pale green. Cut cream cheese into chunks. Add to blender, one at a time, processing until smooth. Transfer mix to serving bowl. Serve with fresh vegetables.

I make something tzaziki ish with chopped garlic, cucumber, salt, and pepper. I think that's it. It's nice and light with a bit of bite from the garlic, you should be able to find lots of recipes for tzaziki online. I like my strained yogurt with just a bit of honey...mmm!! Too bad I finished my last batch two days ago. Time to make some more.

Another low calorie and clean cheese is goat cheese - it's strong, creamy, and you only need a little for a great taste, plus it comes in flavors. Between that and Neufchatel, I think you'd be able to get rid of laughing cow in no time!

If you have a Penzey's spice store near you, I recommend their Fox Point seasoning blend. I add it to regular greek yogurt to make a dip but you could also strain the yogurt to make yogurt cheese and it would be a great flavor, similar to the Laughing Cow garlic and herb one (you could add garlic powder too, if you wanted)

It's just a matter of timing. You can make yogurt the thickness of cream cheese if you get enough whey out of it. If you take less whey out, then it's just thick yogurt.
