for me to be back with you all for a while. DH is having something done to our main yacht then we will be off again.

I have a recipe to share: Scoop out the top and bottom of a Kaiser roll and toast shell. Fill the shell with a fresh leaf of red lettuce, a slice of Boar's Head hickory smoked turkey breast and several drops of red wine vinegar seasoned with garlic, et al.

If you are not dieting, you may have this with a thinly sliced marinated cucumber.

Fondly,

Marcella

I didn't know where to post, so I decided to take my mother's advice and go with age before beauty.

Darling Chella, what a lovely picture that is of you. It seems as though I may have seen you somewhere before. I'm quite sure it was when I was Christmas shopping. Could you possibly have been in Toys R Us? I'm sure I'll think of it eventually.

Wabbie, you're thinking of PETA, that stands for "People Who Think Animals are more important than people" or something like that.

I have an almost 15 year old and I can tell you I'm glad she is not driving yet. She's too distracted with all those new hormones and so on. Plus she is way too busy with schoolwork, friends, music and dance, friends, writing and friends to even fit driver's ed into her schedule. :cp:

Speaking of which, tonight is DD's variety show. Wish her luck. She will be really good, and I will have to sit through another hour and a half of other acts.

I found Dahlia's post in the wrong place. Those newbies are so cute! Anyway, Dah, I thought the picture looked like Barbie too which is weird because I happen to know that Letty was the inspiration for Barbie. They wanted to name the doll Letty but it sounded too much like Betsy Wetsy.

Lush

I don't think Marcella looks that much like Barbie at all. I think her waist is thinner and her hips are non-existent.
I think the new girls are cute, too. Of course, thread starting rights are like stretch pants.
Speaking of which, I got an email from Old Navy today announcing that the now sell stretch jeans. Why would they send such a thing to me?
I'm moving along with Perfect 2009. I had gagfast for lunch today. I had protein for brk. I still haven't exercised, but I drove past Curves and that should count. There is a Curves in the same strip store when DD will be having her Physical Therapy. If That WABBY would give me details, I would consider it. But you know how selfish she is.
I'm going to go do the following.
1. unload dw
2. load dw
3. vac kit floor
4. mop kit floor
5. bleach everything
6. serve delicious dinner to family(turkey concoction)
7. clean up after dinner
8. vac the house
9. dust, too.
10 watch American Idol. A boy from the kids' school made it to LA. We don't know if he made it to the next level because he had to sign a contract that said that he would not reveal results until they appeared on TV. But he now carries two cell phones and drives a new car...evidence? We'll see tonight.

I'm off. I'll get to work on my list. Maybe Wabby will meet at least one responsibility and tell me about Curves.

I am bored with Lush's stagnant journal

Wabby

Here's the deal, Lush: It's basically a room full of kinda cheezy looking exercise machines. They're like weight machines, but the have hydraulic thingies instead, so you don't have to mess w/ weights. They have music playing, and every so often a voice says "change stations now" & you move to the next machine, in between machines you basically step in place, to keep your heart rate up. It is a 30 minute work out, plus stretching after. They have no jacuzzi, they have no showers, they are bare bones, and yet the monthly charge is $29 if you let them take it out of your checking acct (I won't) or $39 month to month. They want you to sign a 1 yr contract (I didn't). I think it's overpriced for what it is, but it's close to my work and it's not co-ed (don't need any men watching me in spandex). It's just about the right level of difficulty for me (easy) and it makes me feel good when I'm done. Anything else you need to know?

What's the American Idol boy's name?? I want to cheer him on. My friend is a real Survivor fan. At her work they all draw the names of the survivor ppl. Then they put in $5 a week and if they've drawn the name of the final survivor, they get the money. I want to play, but we don't have a big enough group here at work.

Peaches how can we send you housewarming gifts when we don't know your decor color? I want pictures. I think I've been patient just about long enough. :snooty:

The kid's name is Lou Gazzara. He came out of the NYC auditions but he wasn't on last night. I wonder if that is a good or bad sign. He sings very well. He's well-liked and a nice kid, so he deserves nice things to happen to him.
My journal has been abandoned. I got bored with it.
Thanks for the info, Wabby. I take from what you say that I can join on a month to month basis if I pay an extra $10. a month. I think I will because I think I'm going to try it while DD has physical therapy.
I've been hanging out on this computer too much today. I'm leaving. bye

she is a sick figment of someone's imagination who thinks she is funny.

I'm curious why someone would want to join a group of women who have known each other for years and start calling one of them names. You wouldn't want to called a "sick figment" would you? Or a sick anything. Sick is a very negative word. Often, it is used to imply mentally aberrant (Kiwi, spell please) or socially deviant. Sick could mean typhoid or measels but I believe you mean to imply something of a more social nature. You're welcome to your opinion of course but I must speak up and disagree. Actually, Dahlia, you show a tendency to be harsh and rude. Are you aware of this?

BTW, I have noted that Brattie's thread started at 1:13 and Marcella's at 1:07. She could not have deliberately bypassed Brattie's as it didn't exist when she posted.

Marcella and I have been trying to help you for five years. We've seen no progress, but we do have standing with this group.
The problem seems to be that we travel so much. I'm off to Europe and Marcella is taking the yacht out. Who knows where they'll end up! Bill is quite fearless with that boat.
Personally, I couldn't be on a boat for months at a time. Oh true, they have a full complement of servants and helicopter support, but I would feel so isolated. Marcella tells me she is taking up yoga during this trip.
My only advice for this thread silliness is "When in Rome......."
PS. Luscious makes boring lists. We all know that. Don't encourage her.

Still fat, still bored. Dh lost his CD cleaner and wants ME to find it otherwise he can't watch a DVD with his best pal tonight. How should I know where the heck it is?:dizzy:

Boy, Dahlia, that was mean. Maybe you should keep your thoughts to yourself from now on. We don't think Marcella is a sick figment of someone's imagination.....well, maybe we do. But we don't care. Sissy is very sweet and would never purposely hurt anyone. Do you realize how long we've known each other?
On a brighter note, I go to Curves today on the Wabby path to health and fitness. I think I will like it. For several months, I will be next door three times a week, so why not make the best of it. I'm looking forward to ripped abs.
I was so hungry this morning. I almost killed all Perfect 2009 efforts but instead made some BROWN rice and chicken for breakfast. Now I feel nice and full and didn't offend Sissy by eating white rice. Whew, I'm so relieved.
I blew off work today. I'm going to clean. Yes, clean. I know everyone was happy when I kept my lists to my journal, but my mind is too small to keep a journal, so I post here.
Here is my list:
1. unload dw OK I'm starting..
2. load dw done
3. clear counter euuuuuhhhhh.
4. shift wash done
5. vac s room Yuck...I have to clear out all the dirty clothes first.....
6. vac b room
7. 10 min s room Ha! three trash bags and an hour later.
8. 10 min b room
9. Close door to dd's room
10. check in here.
It is freezing here, about 10 degrees. I can't give my adorable dog a bath because it is too cold for her to go outside when she is damp.
I'm going to go do something productive.

You should go on my method. I just napped, now I will wait for DD to call and I will pick her up from school. She has early dismissal because it is midterm week. While I am waiting I will listen to my BORING book on tape. It is some Belva Plain tripe about ....I don't want to put you to sleep. I am running out of books on tape.
I just put a huge pot of water on the stove because the humidity in my house is 25%. This means something has broken, doesn't it? This is probably why I am so cold.

Amazing. You know, I don't believe I've ever been in a spat on the internet. Not even when we had the Canadian-Yankee wars. Of course, I'm out here on the frontier, so I could stay neutral. And we all know I'm neurotically passive.

Lush, have you listened to every book on tape in your library? I just got my library card out of hock, so I'm in hog heaven with all the books, & cd's.:ink:I'm reading To Kill a Mockingbird again, and a book I read a long time ago, The Wheel of Fortune . I have my name on the list for Atonement . I should get some of these on tape so I'd actually accomplish something.

I'm doing the boys' rooms today. Horrors. I know that I should just shut the door, but what do you do when they have company? I don't want everyone to think I'm a slob.

Oh, that's nothing, Lush. I got a pamphlet in the mail a couple of weeks ago from the retirement home/assisted living center where my parents live encouraging me to apply.

Now, DD's PT will be the perfect opportunity for you to go to Curves, Lushbabe. Click here for their lovely website. (http://www.curvesinternational.com/) Personally I wouldn't spend the money, but then I am the world's finest skinflint. Even so, I spent $75 on exercise videos and if I ever get off the computer, I will get my money's worth out of them.

I can't watch American Idol because it's too cold out. Figure that one out. Our satellite system (big dish) gets frozen up when the temps are below about 20 deg F. We can still move it, but it won't change polarity, which means we can only view every other channel. Fox happens to be on odd channels and we can only view even ones on that satellite. So I am following The Bachelorette instead.

I'm just so thrilled that Marcella has seen fit to let me call her by her new nickname Chella, that I don't care if she is a figment. Although I'm sure she couldn't be anything with food in its name such as "fig"ment.

Good grief, did you say lower 50's, Wabbit? I think with the wind chill here it is almost in the minus 50s!!!! The actual temps have been below zero for several days. Yesterday it is was 12 below in the early evening, and the wind started kicking up. Our bedroom was absolutely like ice.

Since Dahlia had already deleted her messages when I started reading posts today, I seem to have missed the point of all this unpleasantness. Sugar, you can't fool me. I know where you are and what you are doing. I'm clever.
Kiwi, we didn't chase a new person away. She was mean to us.
Well, actually to Peaches, not to me. She said something nice to me. I guess it is because I'm nicer. She accused her of posting on Marcella's thread purposely and ignoring Brattie's thread. We all know that Peaches would naturally gravitate to Marcella's thread, though we don't know why.
We didn't chase Brattie away. She's new and she likes us. Doesn't she? She likes me because I'm interesting and talk on and on about cleaning. I mean, really, what could be more fascinating than my day to day progress doing mundane, boring tasks? To make it more interesting, I name each job and report on my progress on each individual job. Boy, it must be gripping for all of you. Maybe that is why Sugar doesn't stop by when she is online.

Please tell about dd's concert.

I am going to make serious chicken for dinner. I'll go do that now without detailing every step. Thought I'd cut you guys a break.

Oh and thanks for the book names, Wabby. I will see if they are in the book on tape system.

Muse Touched Mary was indeed a little nuts. She sent me one of her friends. The woman moved in a couple hundred miles from me and had twins. We icq'ed a couple of times.

Then there was that Barb that worked in a paper plate factory. She was very scary.

DD was fabulous in the variety show, as you can imagine. She and her friend sang a song by Hoobastank  called Running Away. DD played the guitar of course. I have it on tape.

I remember Barb very well. Born again Christian who preached CONSTANTLY yet interpreted my email address, an abbreviation of my name, to stand for "jerk off" and that was funny to her. Scary to me.

It is/was/etc not my attention to drive new people away. I like them too. But mean people are mean people and make other people feel bad. And you know if wasn't really me who felt bad. If my feelings had been hurt, I would've stayed away. But she did not hurt someone's feelings and that person didn't deserve it.

However, let us remember the posts about the specific ages women should bear children. I was offended by that. Got over it. But she kept being mean.

My neighbor (the man) had physical therapy for a knee and now his wife is having it for a hip problem. She said how it hurt to have the therapy and he said it hurt when he had it too but "so what. You have to do it anyway."

Last night, I took dh to an informational meeting at the high school he'll probably attend next year. He thought it was ok. He'll get an AA while in high school. They'll give him a laptop to use during those three years and the laptop will have games on it. They said they'l monitor to make sure the games aren't used between 9 am and 3 pm.

And grades are entered by teachers right onto the internet so parents can look everyday and see how the kid is doing. Cool, eh? (or as we say in the south, cool, huh?)

Lush, how will I motivate myself? At least you checked in before work. I'm so happy you like Curves. I would have felt personally responsible if you didn't. Like if you tell a friend that they just have to see a movie, and they come back and tell you that it s*cked. I hate that.

Cherry, you are anything but boring. You are our inspiration. You must check in more often, you can see how the weight loss battle is going for some of us. No names, of course.

Geez, Peaches. We don't have anything like that out here in the sticks. Our schools are screaming for money. In fact, we're having an election on the 28th to decide if we want a temporary (ha-ha-ha!!!!) tax increase to pay for a huge budget shortfall. We have no sales tax in this state, so almost everything is paid for by property or income tax. If it doesn't pass, they will have to shorten the school year, plus have teacher layoffs.

Sugar, if the chips are corn or potato chips, they are considered vegetables, so I think you're ok there.

Also, that one who wouldn't leave me alone. She wrote to me constantly complaining about all of you!! What was her name, something French.

I miss Frappe too. I think I'll write to her.

So Peaches, when did you get married?

I'm on my own this evening. I'm going to eat a frozen dinner and a lot of popcorn and watch Unfaithful. Doesn't that sound delicious? DH is at a meeting (he is busier than he's been in years, now that he is unemployed). DD is at a slumber party. I did not talk to the parents. Haha, I'm such a bad mother. I did ask DD if there would be any boys there or if the girl's brother would be also having a sleepover at the same time (that happened once at this girl's house -- how stupid is that? Fortunately I hadn't let DD stay that time). She informed me that the place would be entirely too small (they have moved since the stupid party), so I am choosing to trust my little dear to be sensible if anything comes up. She did come home with another straight-A report card, so I think she deserves some credit. DH has told her that if she gets 4 straight-A report cards, he will buy her a new guitar  -- she's halfway there. We never, never pay out rewards for her grades; I hope this isn't a mistake somehow. Mostly we just give her lots of hugs and brag about her to other people

I think DS's school sounds great, Peaches. Oh, unless you really were talking about your DH :dizzy: , in which case that is disturbing. Really, I wish DD could do something like that. Around here these days, we are just lucky the schools are still open. On the other hand, we are chock full of computers at all our schools. There are some in the library, there are several computer classes with plenty of computers in them, and I think just about every classroom in the school has at least one as well. The kids started having "computer class" in kindergarten. There is a state program that finally started up this year to distribute laptops to every 7th grader. I don't know how it's going, but it was very controversial

Oops. I forgot to exercise today :nose: . Better go do that....

It's 4 deg F here, with a wind chill that feels like -14. Much warmer than earlier this week (brrrrr). Peaches, your weather says 28 deg F! That's, well, hot. Okay, it's below freezing, I will give you that. So it's cold. But I would be out working in the garage or snowshoeing if it was that warm here! Anyway, I'm glad the 10 degree stuff seems to have abated for the south.

I'm on my own this evening.
This requires no explanation.
Haha, I'm such a bad mother.
Why should motherhood be different?
Oh, unless you really were talking about your DH , in which case that is disturbing.
The applicable term is "anal retentative."
I thought you reminded me of a Bush.
Sigh ... a flowering bush. Get it straight.

I just talked to Herbie on the phone. He is A-Noy-Ying. Big Time. Triple XXX Rated. He can reinvent the past just to make himself right in his own mind. And he phrases things in a way to make himself sound like a gentleman (to his own mind) when in fact he is no gentleman. Example: "When we got our computer, we jumped through hoops to find something you could be happy with." He's talking about HIS D****ED computer which is at his D****ED house and not making me happy at all. GRRRR RRR RR R RR :censored:

The question for the season is "What makes a relationship work?" Any answers?

I have an answer. Find someone who already agrees with you on everything. Then things will be fine. Otherwise, you will fight all the time because NO ONE EVER CHANGES.

When is that stupid Super Bowl tomorrow? It is going to foul up my whole day, isn't it? We're not going to a party. How antisocial we are. It's at 6PM...better than wasting the whole afternoon with it.

I am having company today. I must prepare house. Sorry, but I must make lists. I know what a bore I am but, frankly, I don't care. None of you are leaving, you have no where else to go. I hear the Loozy Floozy thread is full. So I can't chase anyone else off. You'll just have to read my lists.
I will start in kitchen. Even if I don't finish, I'm not spending any more than 20 min in any one place. The wash is already started.
1. get book on tape and timerdone
2. unload dw done
3. load dw done
4. clear counter done
5. trash out Ok
6. clear table. ok
7. wipe front of cabinets done
8. wipe stove ok
9. floor done
10. tablecloth. OK
I'll stop back here to see who is up to KEEP ME COMPANY. Then I will post another list. :s:

Bagzie, I am THRILLED to be cleaning with you!!!!!
I have no Timmy's, poor moi. I am drinking boring old MY coffee. My kitchen looks like a snowdrift...it is so clean. Now I am moving on to the bathroom, living room and foyer. I would point out that NO ONE is waking up to help me. Better. They just annoy me when I'm trying to accomplish something.
Did you notice that I finished that WHOLE list? I'm amazing.
Here goes.....
1. wash out of bathroom.
(there is a laundry shoot in there, but no one seems to understand how to work it. Therefore, they all let their clothes lay on the bathroom floor) done
2. Wipe sink ok
3. clean floor ok
4. shoes out of foyer.
(same thing. We have a dresser, a bench and a shoe rack on the back of the basement door to hood shoes because we don't wear shoes in the house. For some reason, I am the only person who understands the technology of these convenient storage units) son is doing this.
5. clear the 5000 pieces of paper off the living room floor
6. dust lr, foyer, fr and hall
7. vac lr, foyer, fr and hall
8. windex everything
9. make son clean up his room
10. check in here to make all of you feel bad for not keeping me company.
It is 22 degrees. A heat wave.
XO

I want to add that I've asked that question of three people for real and they say "When you have problems, stay together and work them out." Duh Duh Duh. That's just not something you can do if the other person won't do it too.

My answer was completely serious. I think the key to a good relationship is that you are compatable in the first place. If you don't have that you'll spend the rest of your life banging your head against a brick wall and, still, nothing will change.

Ok BUT I thought Herbie and I were compatible. I didn't see how we weren't compatible EXCEPT that I wouldn't let him make decisions about ds that I thought I'd live to regret. And wasn't that right??? Now I still have ds but not cement-head and if I had a guilty conscience about ds, I'd be living all alone in that h*ll.

Now a poll: What do most people do to recycle their coathangers? I mean this::::: You take the shirt out of the closet and put it on and you have a empty coathanger. You wash the shirt and you need the coathanger in the laundry room. Do you carry them everyday or what??????????????????

Ok, I'm into this now.
Clean up lr floor
Clean up br floor
do another load of laundry
Get all that stuff off lr tables
ds will read his school book
get sheets off beds
That seems like an awful lot.
