Smile Let me tell you what worked for me!

First let me tell you about me.
I'm a 52 y/o lady who before Nursing school and college 33 years ago was slim and trim weighing 115-118 lbs. Never had a weight issue but with school full time and work full time to prevent pulling student loans I learned how to eat a high calorie diet and pull those straight A's, keep myself out of debt and it cost me big. My weight just in that year ballooned up 50 pounds and kept going up from there.
Ok, so nowadays I have been a food addict for 3 decades obviously and don't want to stay overweight for the future. I'm a RN who works in the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital. I really know better but I have resorted to food for stress and have had this for quite some time with 2 sick parents and an Aunt and Uncle who lived around the corner. All have died and add in my Husband and almost losing my younger Sis with 2 heart attacks and I guess you get the picture, stress eating, emotional eating.

So finally I wake uo one morning in June and I'm weighing in the 290's. I am so upset that I cried after I stepped off the scale. I saw an ad for Nutrisystem and called them. My first day was June 11th, the box arrived in the eve of June 10th.
I am finished with 8 weeks of NS as of tomorrow, August 6. My goal was a head start and I just want to say that these boxed meals that you can buy whichever Program you resort to do work. Figure $300-$400/month which is about $100/week from the meals and depending upon the product you buy you may have to add veggies or fruit. I believe the Biggest Loser has the veggies and fruit also included that's why I figure on $100/week.
The important thing is that there are times we have to resort to help and let the experts helps us to break through a decade of pounds safely and also with good taste.
I have some NS foods left since I decided to transition back to eating my own foods. The good thing about the extra boxes I have is that most of these are dinners perfect for me to come home to and make it simple to get a meal together.
Ok, so this is what happened with my weight which is what I want to share with everyone here...

June 11,2011 Starting Weight 292.5 lbs.
August 5,2011 not off on the 6th of Aug. from work and leave the house too early to weigh in... Weight 264 lbs.
That's 28.5 lbs. down and oh yeah my clothes are too big!

I'm going to continue to cook more of my own meals but periodically will order meals from various companies to keep me on track and also to try these at home food deliveries especially in the Winter time when the weather is too cool to bbq outside.

My goal weight which is my high goal weight is 150 lbs. It's 114 lbs. yet and I know I've got about a year and 4 months of discipline to stick to this dream and get this accomplished but wanted to share what is working.

Sounds like you've got a great plan! Congrats on your loss, and WELCOME!

And yes - high calorie foods are the cheapest - a definite source of frustration.
