View Full Version : I'm eating McDonalds right now...

...and it is delicious! I NEVER thought I would order a salad at McD's, but I did it today, and it is so good. I ordered the Southwest Salad with grilled chicken which my loseit app tells me is about 420 calories in all. The sodium is still out of this world (900mg), but still a not bad choice when faced with McD's.

i love that salad!! i dont feel so bad going to mcdonalds if i'm getting a salad and diet soda lol....i dont get it often but i sure do like that one, and their bacon ranch one

I <3 McDonalds...good thing there isn't one for 800 miles of my house or I'd eat there every other day. Salads of course ;)

Good job! That sounds yummy, I might have to get someone to bring me one sometime. I can't go into McDs anymore. The smell of nuggets alternately makes me ill or causes cravings.

MMM I love McDonald's salads! I get the Spicy Thai one with grilled chicken, so yummy - I enjoy it while the family eats their burgers once in a while. :)

This worried me too! I thought maybe Cameron demanded MickeyD's for yes day, but you are soo in control, I love it. :high:

Thanks! The salad was so tasty, and pretty satisfying too. I'm so glad I tried it, I always had this thing about not eating a salad at McD's, but it was so good. This will definitely be my go to when Cam is insisting on his happy meal fix.

Kukkie -- Yes, we did end up there for 'yes day', but it turned out okay. I'll just pray the sodium doesn't kick my butt tomorrow!

I eat at McD several times a week because my kids love to go there of the weekends and I have a quick lunch with my mom on Weds.
I always order the grilled chicken cesear salad, no croutons and I use half the cesear dressing. So delish and so filling. If you have to eat there, the salads are definately the way to go.

Nice!! I love McD's for healthy choices, actually! If I'm going through the drive-through for some reason and not going home after, I order 2 honeymustard grilled snack wraps, then dump the insides of one onto the other. And an order of apple dippers and a diet coke if I'm feeling really crazy.

If I'm going home, I order that same thing, then take it home and dump everything onto a La Tortilla wrap with lots of extra dijon mustard... that's REALLY delicious!

I've eaten there a couple times this year. A mcdouble with no cheese had 320 calories. Take the top bun off and takes away another 50 or 75 calories...I forget. I've seen a commercial about a new grilled chicken breast sandwich coming and it's supposed to only have something like 340 calories. I think I saw something about them trying to make their happy meals less fatty and fewer calories for the kiddies.

Big healthy choice menu here, we have seared chicken wraps either sweet chilli or tandoori - both really nice!

Along with everyone else, I panicked when I saw the thread - good one Angie! My thought was "PLEASE DON'T DO IT" and thought of my cousin who grabbed my shoulders and made me promise that I wouldn't stop at McDonald's on my long drive back home from Massachusetts last month! I haven't tried any of the McD salads, but that one sounds pretty good. Great choice.

Sometimes for breakfast I do the oatmeal w/o sugar, scrambled eggs and fruit/walnut salad....before I cut out the bread I could do a grilled chicken sandwich and fruit/walnut/salad w/o seeing any side-effects i.e., weight gain

I LOVE seeing people who make this whole thing work. I mean, a lot of people see or hear McDonalds and freak, but it IS possible to eat a moderately healthy meal from fast food places. And I love seeing what you guys order and how you fit it within your calories etc. Good girl!

I'll have to try that. My kids beg for McDonald's all the time but I've always been afraid to go there because I didn't think there was anything there I could eat.

Actually, I went to Wendy's last week and had their Berry Almond Chicken Salad and it was the most delicious thing I can remember eating in a long time. Fresh strawberries and blueberries on top of mixed baby greens, an entire 6 ounce grilled chicken breast, a small packet of shaved almonds and a raspberry vinaigrette dressing... they give you 2 packets, but I only used one. Total calories: 400! And so freaking good!

I'm glad a lot of the fast food restaurants are trying to offer healthier choices for those of us who shouldn't be getting a burger, fries and a milkshake.

I get that same salad when I go (usually when traveling and only a few times since they've had it) but without the chicken. They knock off a few bucks and it's still super filling, but without all of the sodium.

Congratulations! I ate a Chik-fil-A chargrilled chicken salad for the first time ever yesterday. It was great! I didn't miss the waffle fries at all, and I immediately threw away the croutons. Woo hoo!

The Chick Fil'A Southwest Chargrilled Chicken salad is great, as is the chicken and fruit salad. I love the spiciness of the chicken in the SW one, and I just ask for Light Italian Dressing instead of whatever comes with it.

They also have amazingly tasty fresh lemonade which you can get the "Diet" version of for 40 calories in a large. It's sweetened with Splenda as I recall and is so fresh and tasty.

Edited to add - like squarepeg said, throw away the croutons! Sometimes they add in a packet of croutons, tortilla strips, and sunflower seeds.. the whole bunch ends up being more calories than the salad + dressing. Kind of ridic. I just chuck them as soon as I get them so Im not tempted.

That's fantastic! I know if I went to McD's I wouldn't have that kind of strength and I would totally succumb to the seductive powers of the Big Mac. And those fries... oh those fries...

I love their southwest salad at mcd's. I've found I don't even need the dressing at all since there is so much flavor to the corn/bean salsa stuff.

zinkemomx2 - So true...I made a taco salad today..no need for any salad dressing, the salsa and other toppings do the job quite well.
