OK, I'll start it because I'm super motivated this month to make it a better month after getting derailed last month. Sick kids (for almost 3 weeks) and a week long vacation are not kind to losing weight or maintaining an exercise program. I was thrilled in the end to lose 4.2 pounds, but that's a far cry from 10 pounds.

So, this month join me for the 10 pounds challenge. Rules are: must be healthy weight loss - no starvation stuff going on to lose the ten pounds. If you end up losing ANYTHING in the month, you've had a successful month - always remember that. So rule two - no dropping out if you feel aren't going to make the challenge. This is not a competition. It's a friendly way to keep us accountable. Reality is, most of us will not reach the 10 pounds and that's NORMAL!

You can check in whenever you want. I'll keep track of people's losses and will post them weekly and at the end (unless someone else is dying to do that for me).

If you want to, add to the weight loss column the number of hours you worked out for the week too. Keeping track of that can be motivating. My goal is to exercise at least 25 hours this month (works out to be about taking 1 day off a week).

Like last month, I personally will be weighing daily, but just weigh in whenever you want along the way.

I want to jump in on this one too, I'd love to be into the 140's by the first day of school (about a week later than this), but I highly doubt I'll make it that far in such a short time.

I'm totally in! I have vacation the middle of Sept and plan to be under 200 lbs. so I need the accountability and motivation. Last month was 5 lbs so I have to step it up a little in the next 6 weeks.

HiYah! I'd like to join as well. This being accountable thing is working well for me. I joined on the 17th of July and have fropped almost 15 pounds of unwanted weight. Probably mostly extra water but hey it's no longer "weighing me down"!

Count me in! I was so off track in July. I have a 10 k I'm walking in October and would like to be down about 15-20 pounds. I don't know that I'll make 10 pounds in a month, but I'm going to do my best.

Count me in. I am not too sure where to start my weight at?? If I use August
1st weight of 245 then I have already passed a goal to lose 10 pounds by September 1st as I lost 15 pounds over night!

I am going to take a chance that the water weight will leave me so I will start
at my previous 220 pounds before that 4 day 25 pound gain.

I'm in! As much as I'd like to lose 10 pounds, I'm going to set myself the goal of 6 pounds as that's how much I need to lose to hit the 240's. That seems to be one of those magic numbers I just can't reach as I've hit 251 and 252 multiple times and then fall off the wagon again.

i havent been on the boards in a while and i've had kind of a set back but i'd love to try again. I know for me..10lbs in month just isnt going to happen but hey..like someone else said..AIM HIGH!!..and if i loose anything it will be a success. Ideally i'd love to loose 6lbs this month.

I've had a great start to the month!

I've exercised all 3 days---I got up when the alarm went off this morning! Since I'm getting out of work later because of budget deadlines, I decided I need to start going in the mornings. I'm just hoping I can keep it up. Last night I didn't get to the gym until 7:00 and didn't get back home until after 8:00. I hate having to prepare dinner after that & eat so late. But, my food has been right in line and I've been vigilant about tracking it.

I'm down to 188.5 (-1.5 pounds) as of this morning! ;)

Haven't exercised yet this month aside from a short walk on the 1st. Work may keep me late tonight so I'm not sure about the gym... Even though it's open 24h! We'll see. I can at least take a little walk at lunch even if it is 8 million degrees outside.

Down a lb this morning though, which is good encouragement - still working on shedding some binge weight from earlier in the week.

I've been doing great with exercising :) I've upped my running to 2 miles on Monday and I've ran that much on Tuesday and today.

Scale is hovering between 165 and 166 now, but everyone keeps telling me I'm going to disappear if I keep it up, haha!

I think I'll try cutting calories again. I upped them a bit because I was worried I was eating too little, but I was losing at the previous rate so I guess I'll go back to that.

I should measure myself though. I must have lost inches as my clothes are suddenly a bit looser without it showing on the scale.

After W1D1 of C25K my legs are a bit tender... Actually it's my hip flexors that are baring the brunt of my new running regime hah Still excited for W1D2 tomorrow!

I'm solely on protein until Friday so I am looking forward to a good WI result on Friday. I hope my legs don't keep on water......

Ok, we have 54 people in so far. Not everyone signed up for 10 pounds, but almost everyone did, but if we subract those 12 pounds, we 'could' lose up to 538 pounds this month! Wowzers!

I know we'll be adding more people and of course, only a few will reach the ambitious 10 pounds of loss (please no one be disappointed with losing less than ten pounds, OK?).

Now, a few people did not enter a starting weight. Since tickers can change daily, I don't even know to count those are not. So will these people please state their starting weight for the challenge:

Oh how I love the post TOM woosh! Got on the scale today and got 2 numbers: 187.4 and 186.6 (I have a very sensitive digital scale and can step on it and get different readings) so I am averaging it and changed my ticker to an even 187. This is an all-time low for me!

Hey I joined a few days back on the second. I'm managing to keep up with my goals of calories exercise etc but today.... TOM decided to strike. I have managed to stick with my plan thus far. But my cravings are getting a little crazy. Any tips on easing those a bit? Really annoying and it was so hard to focus on my bike ride today with bananas, strawberries, candy, and chocolate dancing around in my head. And it's going to last atleast another 4 days DX.

I find that drinking lots of water, exercising, and indulging my cravings (to a point) usually works well and I can still lose weight.

Holy cow, Crysrenae - that's some seriously impressive progress in 2 days!!!

Haven't weighed in since 8/1 due to a few days of off-site meetings for work. Eating hasn't been perfect since I haven't been in full control of food choices but I'm glad to be back in my usual groove again today. Got in a great run this morning and am hoping to go for a walk with friends tonight.

Hoping to see the losing streak out there continue with all of your weigh-ins!

Wow, look at everyone go. I'll weigh in on Tuesday when I get home from Dallas. :P Hopefully the traveling won't kill me. I think there is something inside my head that says "no matter how well you do while traveling you'll still gain".

Looking good! I'll update weights tomorrow evening with everyone's weigh-ins from this past week.

Mine won't look like much as I don't tend to lose at this point in my menstrual cycle. I might lose a bit next week only to gain it back while I get close to ovulation, but it's all good. I'm exercising and eating right. The scale will show those results soon enough.

Last week I only exercised twice instead of three times. I planned on going yesterday after the birthday party but I hurt my back playing wii sports. I have no idea what I did but it hurts to breathe. So I'm just going to relax today and maybe go tomorrow. Or maybe take a break from strength training for a week. I don't remember what my starting weight was but I'm at 258.6 this morning. That's my pattern, though. I lose 4-5 lbs over as many days and then I gain back 2-3, repeat lol. So I'm steadily losing but today was my highest day since seeing 255 on thursday. I'm not worried about it. I'm still losing at an average of 2.6 lbs a week.

As always happens for me, no weight loss the first week. August 1st started the month. August 2nd started my new menstrual cycle which means I'll be stalled out for 2.5 weeks. My goal is to minimize the water weight gained during those 2.5 weeks (will add up, hopefully, to more actual weight lost the second half of my cycle).

So:
8/1: 193.2
8/8: 193.4

Next week will probably be a bit higher in weight gain and then I should start to go down - if I follow the same pattern I've followed every month so far.

Hi everyone,

I know I'm terribly late joining. I've been on and off the wagon for a good 2 months now, but I'm going on holiday soon and the thought of beach wear is scaring me silly so I NEED to get some control back in my life.

I've put on and lost 7lb continually over the last few weeks so my goal is to lose 10lb by September 1st from my weight now, as I know at least 5lb of that should be fairly simple. So here goes:

Well I lost 4.2 my first week. Thrilled with that. Of course I have the benefit of this challenge coinciding with being back on plan so I had some water weight to lose. I expect things to slow down from here but would be happy if they don't :)

Whew!! I did not think I would have a loss to report after gaining 25 lbs of water in four days. That 25 pounds is gone and I lost an additional pound.

I had to go out of town Wed-Fri. That trip included several very unhealthy meals. I was very surprised to see that I still ended up losing this week! I was hoping to break even, but I'm down to 184.6! I think it's because TOM was last week, and that's over, so it's probably mostly water loss. But I'll take it!!

Ok, ladies and fella, I have put in all the new people and the weigh-ins. Now a LOT of people didn't weigh in. Of course, many people are on vacation, but please don't just disappear because you had no loss or had a gain. This is life and gains and stalls happen. So proud of everyone who posted their losses and super proud of the great losses many people had this past week. We had a net loss of 40.2 pounds last week - just from the people who weighed in.

We now have 64 people participating in the challenge. 35 people have not checked in yet with their weekly weigh-in. Which means 29 people have.

Thanks for the doc berryblondeboys! That was neat to see everyone lined up like that.

My first week was strong, as always. I am in the middle of Week 2 doldrums. My second week back OP is always much, much slower as my body kind of looks around and wonders what the heck I'm doing to it. So this is expected. Still steadily dropping 0.2 per day. Was absurdly thirsty yesterday and got in about 5L of water... Holy moly. Body is definitely working on figuring things out!! Fingers crossed for a woosh to come :)

hi! I'm new here and I'd like to join as well. I am down to my last 10lbs for my "recommended weight".

From 140lbs last June 2011, I am currently at 110. Hoping to be 100lbs by September as well. :) The first 30lbs came off really easy, but I know the last 10 will be a challange. And I am up for it!

August 2011 = 110lbs
I do cardio every night for at least 3-4 miles and go to Zumba Classes twice a week. I eat healthier and is very focus on portion control.

I'm joining in late, but I hope that's okay. Doubt I can lose ten with what's left of this month, but maybe I can lose six. I will try for ten, anyway, because it reinforces my mood today.

Though I'm happy that I've lost a bit, I realize that my progress has been far too slow. Since November, I've lost about 18lb, but I should have lost about 36. I am not trying hard enough and it's time to quit making excuses.

Today, I'm 176-177. (Need a digital scale b/c mine is a bit funny). And my goal by September is 166. I'll be almost at my next mini-goal if I can achieve it. :) I've dropped down one size in pants, but the weight just isn't coming off of my belly yet and that's really where it needs reduction. I think that means I need to work harder.

So far, I've exercised only about 4 hours in nearly 11 days. Maybe in the next week, I can manage 5 out of 7. :)

I got my woosh! Hurray :) My weight has been creeping for the past few days, yet have been incredibly thirsty. My body was obviously up to something. And today I got my lb woosh! Just goes to show - be patient when your weight stalls briefly, it will be brief if you keep up your healthy habits.

That puts me at 5.6lb loss, just over halfway, and just under halfway to the end of the month! I can totally make my 10!

Also notable - 200.2 this morning - 0.4 lb to my lowest weight all year. :D :D

I'm really down about this. This is the first week in a long time that I've stayed on plan, and no loss? My only consolation is that TOM may be on it's way... not sure since it's still a little out of whack from having my baby.

Yesterday I had tons of water and only 1150 cals in preparation for weigh in today. :( And tonight I have a party and was planning on letting myself eat one off plan meal... but who knows, maybe that's what I need to shake things up.

I'll be curious to see my weight tomorrow. So far, my activity level hasn't been that high, just ~30 minutes a day walking, which is what is called for in the Dukan Diet.

But yesterday and today, I started doing a bit more using my Wii Fit, which I haven't been using in a while. It's possible I may show a small water gain because I can definitely notice my muscles are a little sore, but I know longer term, this will be a positive thing. And hopefully, I'm starting this soon enough into the month that any water weight will be gone before the challenge ends and the extra activity will help tip me over that 10 lb mark!

what was happening during the 3 days when you were not on plan? even if you weren't eating tons of food, the type of food could cause temporary gains.

Thanks! I celebrated early when I ever-so-briefly saw 199.8 but that was just a tease, I went back to 200 and sat there afterwards. But a 198.6? I think that'll stick!! Woohoo!!

Hi all - gosh I have been struggling. I have a good day and then whammo - one extra gin and tonic and can you have one without a few peanuts and a scoop of hummus on a chip? OY VAY! But...I have to pat myself that I catch myself and don't give up and the scale continues to just INCH downward - in the right direction. But OH SO SLOW and that pace is entirely my fault! My hat is off to all of you who have done so well on this challenge! We have another week to go! I'd like to shed another pound or two!

OK, this is as up to date as I can make it. I tried to fit in all weigh-ins up until yesterday in the previous week's weight loss. Any thing with weigh-ins august 22nd to august 28th will go in this week's weigh-ins.

I added the new people and plugged in weights from week 1 from people who weigh in later than I posted and all the last week's weigh-ins and the few current week's weigh-ins.

First week total weight loss was over 65 pounds! Add in the second week and so far we have lost over 105 pounds in the month of August and so far the losses for this week are looking good!

For me, I had a gain in week one and week two, but I'm happy to report an overy 5 pound loss for this month so far (lovely hormones!)

Good luck this week everyone! We are getting close to the end and ONE person has made goal already (way to go Shishkeberry) and one is very, very close: Marijaux, just .4 to go!!!!

I'm going to do my final weigh in on Thursday. I only set my goal for 7 lbs and still have 1.2 lb to go. I've been stalled at this weight for about 8-9 days. I don't think I'll make it to my goal of 128 but I'm happy with the overall results.

Congrats to everyone on their losses and hope everyone can meet their goal by the end of the month. If you can't then there is always tomorrow and the day after to try.

i made it down to 246.6 on Saturday but I had a pretty high sodium day yesterday so I gained a bit of water weight this morning. That's ok, I still met my goal of ten lbs lost this month and water weight doesn't bother me. I ate a lot yesterday but I didn't go over maintenance calories so I know that's what it is. I guess we'll see what happens on the 1st. Hopefully the water will be gone.

Well I'm not going to cheat and post today's weight, which would have been a plateau, as yesterday's weight was a gain. I'm such a yo-yoer. I'm hoping that I can stay at today's weight of 141 or below for Sep 1st, as that would mean I at least lost 5lb this month, which I take as some kind of achievement. Here's hoping!

Hi all - I was very happy to see the scale eeek down a wee bit this morning. It is Minnesota State Fair time -- I did pretty good avoiding all of the "stuff on a stick" but just couldn't pass up a taste of a deep fried PICKLE! YUM. But I'm delighted to say - I was fine with just two bites! Slowly slowly but in the right direction I continue to go. I'm inspired by everyone's wonderful accomplishments!!
