Good Morning All!!

I'm still here, not feeling anything except the normal discomfort. Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

01-19-2003, 02:19 PM
Hi guys,

I still feel absolutely poopie. I'm lying on the couch trying to breathe out of at least one side of my nose. This REALLY sucks. I don't think pregnant women should have to be sick too!! OK, I'm done venting now.

Lauren: I've decided that I'm going to plan on being at least two weeks late!! I was that late for Aunt Flo before I realized I was pregnant, My brother was that late........... Course, I was two months early!! And my other brother was a couple weeks early....
Hmm, I'm seeing a disturbing pattern here!! :D

Hope everyone is having a super weekend.

Good Morning!!!It is me and "hold me baby" here !! She is clingy this morning but I am not complaining!!! She has learned a trick that makes me soo nervous..she "kicks off" using your stomach when U R holding her and throws that head back...U have to be on guard at all times!!!
Ok..Lauren and Karen--diaper update..The BabysRus brand..Great diapers cuz they are soft around the legs and not stiff like Pampers or Huggies..She is soo thin and long that the other diapers marked up her thighs soo much..I found them by accident when I was nursing in the mothers room..They had samples out to use..and I did and liked them soo much had to go get a box..That is probably the point of the samples!!!

Well..she is sleeping soo off to balance the checkbook and download some pics for printing and wash her clothes!!We are out of towels and receiving blankets!!!!
Have a great day!!!

Hi All,

Well, it's been a long day already!! I woke up at 4:00 to pee, and couldn't go back to sleep, I was wide awake, and hungry. So I got up again at 4:50 and had a bowl of cereal and a glass of water. Got on the computer for a bit, and then sat and watched TV til DH got up at 6:00. I was back asleep by 6:30, on the sofa, only to be woken up by my mom at 9:00!! ARGH...she's driving me insane!! I told her my appt. was at 3:00 this afternoon, she forgot and assumed it was this AM, since most of my recent appts. have been at 10AM. She was only calling to tell me that Dr. Brazelton was on TV talking about fussy babies. She left a message, I didn't get up to get the phone. So I got up, took a shower, called DH (who had left me a message while in the shower), and then called mom back. I told her if she doesn't stop calling me, I'm gonna change the # and not give it to her!! She's crying to me about how nasty I'm being...she's the one that called and woke me up at 9:20 yesterday, and wonders why I'm upset that she woke me up 20 min. earlier today?!?!?! So I hung up on her and she just called me back, trying to justify herself, and blame me for being soo nasty to her lately. I told her if she doesn't want to hear my nasty, overdue, PG self being cranky to her, then don't call, one of us will call her when I go into labor!!

I know I sound like a rotten daughter right now, and how dare I yell at my mother that way, but she needs to remember what it's like to be Pg, overdue, and cranky! Heck, forget the overdue part, she needs to remember how cranky and sick of being PG she was in that last month!! UGH...

I'm sorry, I just needed to get that out.

Hi all!

Just checking in. It's been a busy weekend. I'm off work today for the MLK holiday & getting ready to leave to go see my grandfather for a bit.

Just wanted to report I weighed this morning & I'm down 1.8# ! :D Didn't quite make my goal for today, but only .4 away so I'm pretty happy!

Lauren - You're allowed to be cranky right now...your mom will get over it! Hope it happens for you soon though!

Gotta' run...talk to everyone later!

01-20-2003, 02:20 PM

Had a fun weekend. :)
Legal - congrats on your loss! :bravo:

Karen - hope you're feeling better.

have a super day.

Hi all,
I just wanted to check in. I've got a boring conference to go to Tues, Wed, & Thurs so I will be out until Fri. Hopefully I can be good. I have no idea if they are providing lunch or not. If not I'll be visiting Subway.

LBH, for your sake I hope you have the little one by the time I get back.

Be good everyone!! And congrats to all the losers. I was a little bad over the weekend so I'm waiting until the end of the month to weigh in.

01-20-2003, 06:00 PM
Hi all,

I am feeling better today. Strawberry halls help to open your nose!! I was living on them at work today. My tongue is sorta numb though.

Lauren: When you were sick, did Petey stop moving so much? Alex has moved a little but not like he was up until Saturday morning. DH even got to feel him. Now he's just doing little things every great once in a while. Maybe your Mom is just nervous because she knows what you are going to have to go through. That's one great thing about having my mom so far away, she can't bug me like that!! I don't know how MIL will be as my time gets nearer but she's great about not bothering us. I guess she doesn't want to be nosy.

LE: Cool on the loss!! I've found a cool produce store by me that makes a HUGE salad for 2.50 with almost every possible veggie in it. I bought one today and I'm going to see how long it lasts me. It looks like at least four meals for DH and I. I think it will help me get in my 5 a day!!

Rabbit: So glad you had a great weekend.

Liz: Do you get the veggie sandwhich at Subway? They are SO awesome. Course, I got cheese on mine, but I did get it with just vinegar. It was yummy!! Hope the conference isn't too bad. :)

I'm going to make Tacos for dinner so I better go start chopping!! Have a great evening!!

Hi All,

Went for my 3:00 appt. today and she did a non-stress test. I didn't know she was gonna do this, she just told me to come back today for a re-check. So she strapped it on, found his HB and gave me a magazine. He was pretty much asleep, so she had to keep coming in and she would grab him by head and rattle him a little to get him to move...he wouldn't move just by pushing my stomach. So she did that a few times and his HR did go up, so she was satisfied, he passed. My BP was fine. I gained a pound since Thursday...I told her it was probably all the donuts I've eaten since then!! She wasn't concerned, I haven't gained anything in over a month!

She did an internal and man did that hurt, I was practically dangling from the ceiling tiles!! She said (as she was digging around) that she was trying to loosen things up. I said, oh, like stripping my membranes? Yes. But I'm not dilated at all yet, so she really couldn't get in there to do anything.

Have to go back Friday and she'll do an U/S to check his size and stuff, and another internal. I stopped at the health food store and bought Evening Primrose Oil and Red Rasberry Leaf Tea. She said 500mg. of the EPO 3 times a day (or all at once if I want), and the tea twice a day. Both these are supposed to help ripen the cervix.

I told her I did not want to be induced, even though I want him out, I can wait a week. I mean, if it comes down to it, and I have to be induced, at least wait until Jan. 30th, which would be 42wks.

Karen- I don't recall if he was quieter, but I don't think so. Keep in mind he's not a super active baby to begin with, I've never gotten hard kicks or anything from him, so it seemed normal to me. Not to mention it was the end of my PG that I was sick, so he was bigger and probably less active to begin with. He may be less active for you, just because you're less active, being sick, ya' know? If you have any concerns though, do "kick counts" for an hour and call you Dr. I know I keep asking this, but how many wks. are you?
Sounds like a great salad! I really wish we had a produce store around...we have none that I've found!

Liz- I sure hope I have him by Friday too!! Good luck with lunch!

LE- Congrats on the loss!! :D

Have a great evening all!!

01-21-2003, 10:41 AM
OMG>>>>I am exhausted..I will pay anyone $500 to let me sleep for 4 hrs straight!!! I walked all night long with Kaylee last night..DOnt know if it was a growth spurt or what but I am almost nuts.. She wanted to cluster feed all night....Just when I think I cant take it any more...she looks up at me with those little eyes and smiles and coos and my heart melts and I keep on singing!!! I am getting excercise by dancing and walking and singing until she goes to sleep...Now the book says..."A baby cant be spoiled until after 4 months of age" now I am wondering!!!!!I know every Barney and WIggle song!!!!

Lauren--Hang in there!!! U R doing good..Still soo glad I had the GD and was induced at 39weeks....I feel for U cuz I remember that pressure at 39 weeks..Keep us posted!! I agree about the stripping...OMG I thought that was the worse pain until she broke my water that morning....Sending U positive vibes!!!!!

Karen--Babies are soo irratic with movments...I could always make Kaylee move with OJ...SHe would be wild after drinking some...I think she was wild and moving until the last minute..Even now..her hands constantly move around just like in utero....

Hello all..gotta run....I hear a little cry!!!!

01-21-2003, 03:56 PM
Hi All,

I made a new page for Peter!! Here it is:Peter's Web Page (http://pages.ivillage.com/lbd301/)

Oh, and nothing's happening yet...time for more tea! Yes, I'm going insane...

01-21-2003, 04:43 PM
Hi guys!!

I'm feeling a tiny bit better today. I'm already considering a hot shower to unclog the nose. A nap would be nice too!! :D

Lauren: Love the page!! You are way too organized. I used to have lots of energy to do stuff like that now all I want is to be left alone to curl in a ball somewhere to sleep!! I hear that it doesn't get any better!! Hope he pops out of there soon.

RR: Now, you know that the only way you could sleep for four hours straight is if you booked a hotel room somewhere. I remember you saying that you were storing breastmilk so I know DH could feed her at least once in the evening while you napped..........

Seriously, I hope I can handle it as well as you are. I hate being woken up in the middle of the night so I'm not at all sure how this is going to work out!!

Gonna hit the showers. Have a nice evening!!

01-21-2003, 04:53 PM
hello everyone.

This has been a tough week, last week I was an angel, but not this week. I went over on Sunday and haven't made up for it yet, but I'm working on it.

Karen - I agree about the halls cough drops. I noticed the same thing. ~ your salad sounds great.

Lauren - glad the test went well.

RR - sorry about the lack of sleep.

01-21-2003, 05:38 PM
Karen- If I had the energy, I'd be on the floor laughing at your post!!! Me...organized??? I should take a few shots of the rest of the living room...then tell me I'm organized!!   The only reason I started that page and took the pics is because I was too lazy to continue cleaning!!

Rabbit- Hang in there...hope you get your MoJo back soon!

OK, I'll admit it...I'm starting to get nervous and a little scared because I'm afraid they're gonna have to induce. :( I'm finding myself terrified at the thought of being induced. Please say a little prayer for me that Peter decides to come on his own...preferably this week!!

01-21-2003, 06:15 PM
Lauren: I was just walking by my junked up guest room that is going to somehow magically be turned into a nursery (Ha!Ha!) and realized that every chance she gets the cat is in there sleeping on the bed. How are you going to keep Zeus out of Petey's bed? I'm thinking large cargo net over the crib? Set up the crib early and squirt her with water every time she looks at it? Oh No!! My poor Sheba cat!! Just take some nice deep breaths. In and Out slowly. Now. You probably have at least another week before they even consider inducing. Right? Don't they usually do it after 42 weeks? Petey hasn't even hit his 40th week of development yet with the crazy way they say your two weeks along before you get preggers. He just needs a little more time in the EZBake oven. After all, he's snug, he's warm, he's fed and you don't have to change diapers yet!!

RR: Any thoughts on the cat thing? I know yours have a special room but mine has run of the house.

Rabbit: Time to get out those carrot and celery sticks and start munching on them!! Put that other stuff down!!

01-21-2003, 06:57 PM
Karen- I probably won't have the crib until sometime in February, because my brother's friends are still using it, but when we first brought the bassinet in, it sat in the living room for awhile and Zeus would sniff it and sit on shelf under it, but he never thought to jump in it. Now, it's been in our bedroom for awhile now and while he will jump on DH's dresser to get to the shelf and look out the window, he has not ventured over to the bassinet. He could easily walk across the dresser and step into the bassinet and curl up, but I think he's just too stupid to! :D Maybe it's because the sun doesn't shine directly on the bassinet? He'd rather lay on the end of the bed where the sun hits in the AM!!

I would say if Sheba's an adventurous kitty (Zeus is definitely the lazy man type), and you can get it set up early enough, it would be a good idea. They say to put foil in the crib, because they don't like the sound and feel of it, so they'll learn that they don't wanna go in there...no idea if it works or not. I would definitely consider getting the netting though, just in case. I will probably get it, even though I doubt he'll go in it. We actually are planning to try and keep Zeus out of Peter's room completely...DH's idea...because of the fur (he's long hair). This way it's not a problem.

Normally they would induce by 42 wks., but I think I need to reinforce to her that even though I want him out, I don't want to be induced unless medically necessary, or he's measuring really big. Personally, I think she should let me go longer than 42 wks., since she's the one that said she would've made my EDD more like 1/21, so she should actually let me go til at least 2/4. I don't think I'd last that long though...I'll go insane first!!

01-22-2003, 10:30 AM
Hi All,

That's the word of the day!! :D I think we have progress! I was up on and off from 1-4 AM and then straight from 4-5 AM, and on and off til about 8:30 when I just got up. Was feeling kind of crampy, like in waves, when you have to go potty....KWIM? Sat on my ball for a bit, finally started timing these "waves" and they varied from 6-9 min. apart, lasting about 10-15 seconds each. I'm not sure if they were contractions or if I have the gas bubble from heII?!?! Anyway, I'm still having them, so I'm gonna start timing again!

Have a great day all...seems like a good day to have a baby to me!! And hey, it's the 23rd...remember DH's dream...that I had the baby on the 23rd? We thought it was December, but I guess it could be today!

01-22-2003, 10:53 AM
Lauren---Hope all is still progressing!!!!! I am crossing my fingers for u!!!!!

Karen--that pumped milk doesnt do the trick!!! She wants mommy..It is something how she justs wants to nuzzle with me..Poor DH..he walks her, sings to her, rocks her but she cries until I just get close and then she coos!!! Sometimes he can calm her down but from 7-10pm, she is a cluster feeder and the bottle doesnt cut it!!!!
U hate your sleep disturbed????
Sorry..had to laugh!!! Typical evening....7-10 constantly held and cluster feeding...10-11:30 asleep...eats again...asleep 11:30-01:48 awake and eating...2am-4:30 asleep....awake eating then 5-0730 asleep and the awake..sleeps from 8am-9:30 then just wants to listen to music and be awake!!!!The most tiring part is that if U breast feed, it takes 15-20 minutes just to do it then they get up again in 2 hrs...BUT>>>>LOVE IT!!!!!Wouldnt trade anything for her!!!U will see in May!!!!!
CAT---I let her in and she jumps right in the bassinet....I have more trouble with SD#2 messing with the baby..Remember, she has DOwns Syndrome and really I cant reason with her at all...Life is rough somedays with her drop downs, diaper changes, total bath etc etc..I have a 45lb baby and an 8lb baby....

Rabbit--Keep up the good work!!!!

I will find out how much damage control I have to deal with on MOnday when I get weighed..!!!!
Take care all!!!

Lauren--Love that belly pic!!!!!!and those little outfits!!!What is that website????I may have to redo Kaylees thing..I like how U can write messages!!!

01-22-2003, 12:21 PM
RR- It's iVillage. there's another site that I wanted to do one on, but I can't think of the name of it. It gives you a whole page of thumbnails, then you click to enlarge them. If I think of it, I'll let you know. I haven't filled in the shower page yet, I just left it the way it was...was sick of fiddling with it, it took quite awhile to do. Think I will take a new belly pic today...in case it's the last day!! :D

01-22-2003, 02:16 PM
hello all.

I've finally made up for all my points that I was over on the weekend. woohoo. :) And I have a couple of activity points to spare.

Lauren - oh exciting! It sounds like progress!

have a great day all.

01-22-2003, 03:16 PM
OK...I think it's safe to say I'm officially in labor!! ...And getting more and more nervous with every contraction!! Talked to my midwife this AM and she said it sounds like the beginning...what most people experience in the week before their EDD...yeah, thanks for the reminder!!

And check out my preggo brain...above I said today's the 23rd...OK, so I'm getting a little ahead of myself!!

Right now they're about 7-10 min. apart and about 20-30 seconds long. The intensity is starting to grow I think, as I find myself whining more. :( Guess I'll try and hold out to tell DH to come home, don't know if I'll be able to wait until 5:15 though.

01-22-2003, 03:20 PM
Hi all,

Got sent home from work sick today :(. At least I'm getting a chance to rest which seems to be helping. My throat's not as sore and my head doesn't hurt quite so much. I've been home since 8 and I'm just now (2:00) beginning to wake up. Hope I haven't messed myself up for sleeping tonight.

Lauren: Yeah!! I hope things are moving along for you. Hopefully Petey is ready to meet Mom and Dad!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

RR: I know, I know. I'm in for a wonderful time!! I can remember when I was about 15 standing in the middle of the living room and stamping my foot at my mother (something I NEVER did) because she woke me up before I thought I should be up. DH woke me up last night and I was so irritated with him. Hopefully it won't be so bad when it's the baby waking me up!! I guess I will be learning patience, hmm!! How are the girls dealing with the new baby?

Rabbit: Yeah on the the points!!

Have a great evening.

Legal Eagle
01-22-2003, 05:03 PM
WOOHOO Lauren! Hope everything goes Great!! :D :D

01-23-2003, 12:53 PM
hello all.

Tonight is my weigh in. I may even have a loss. Other than my cookie craze on Sunday, I've done fine. :D

It is so cold now! wow. Makes me want to stay inside.

have a great day.

01-23-2003, 01:08 PM

Thought I posted when I was here on Tues. guess not :?: .

Anyway, was feeling pretty proud of myself because I walked 3 days in a row and started doing yoga (I've been feeling pretty stiff the last couple of weeks and thought this might help). But then I went to WW and gained , I'm hoping it's just water since my fingers have been stiff and a little swollen which usually means I'm holding water.

I've been thinking of getting a journal/notebook to write food and other stuff in. I haven't been journaling w/the WW ones for a while, but I think I need more, like mood, who with etc. I need to look for a pattern, maybe this will help. Anyway....

My sister came over to pick up my nephew's quilt on Monday. The dog's were so funny with the baby. I think it's the first time he's been over where he actually noticed the dogs at one point I had him on my lap, and the dog on my lap, he was holding the dog's ear and eyelash and they were both falling asleep! Too bad I couldn't handle the 90+ lbs on my lap

No news from LBH since yesterday afternoon, I wonder if Petey's arrived. Anyone know???

RR - Ah...another good reason for no kids, no sleep! Just kidding, sounds like you're having a blast even if you don't sleep.

Karen - Hope you're cold's gone. I love halls when I've got a cold, I eat the sugar free ones.

Legal - Congrats on the loss.

Rabbit - Glad you could get back on track. Good luck at WI.

See ya -

- Tech :(

01-23-2003, 03:04 PM
No word yet from Lauren....She has my number soo if I get a call..will post!!!Hope all is well!!! I have to say..she is brave..I was more content to pick the day and know when it was gonna happen..I am a chicken!!!!!! :yikes: :yikes: Little munchkin just got a bath...she loves the water...I can calm her down with a warm cloth on her face or just by washing the hair!!!!!

Tech--I have been doing a jounal since I got married..It is really neat to go back and read the entries..I cry everytime I read the entry that DH wrote to the baby we lost last year...He writes little entries in mine alot and I love them all!!!

Well..naptime since little Tootie is sleeping!!!!
GOOD LUCK LAUREN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

01-23-2003, 05:34 PM

We are going away for the weekend. DH is going skiing with friends and I'm going sitting. I'm sorry now I agreed to go but DH wouldn't go ski without me. I'm taking a bunch of magazines and some puzzle books.

Rabbit: Good job staying on track!!

Tech: EWWWW. I gotta have the sugar ones and I can barely tolerate those. Good luck with the journaling. Hope it works out for you.

OK, I'm sure there's more packing to be done. Have a great evening all!!

Just checking in to see if there's any news from Lauren.

Hope she's doing well, will try to check in again tomorrow!

01-24-2003, 09:46 AM
On pins and needles here waiting for word on how Lauren and the little one are doing.

I'm back from my conference. It was torture like I thought it would be. I did learn a few things but it wasn't worth having to sit still for three days. They didn't provide any food but I met some nice people and we went to lunch everyday. I was good the first two days and splurged a little the third. I've got to go on the journal page and add up my points. I did still manage to make myself go to the gym every morning. I figured it would help me to stay awake during the lectures (and it definately did!!).

Any chance I can whine about how cold it is here in FL???? We were 24 degrees this morning (no way I was going to the gym today!!). Our high is supposed to be around 49. Hello???? This is Florida??? What is going on here? They actually had to cancel some schools because they don't have heat.

Have a great weekend everyone!! I'm still trying to catch up from being gone.

01-24-2003, 12:10 PM
No news still!! Must me she is in the hospital...hopefully for her sake!!! Sending prayers for her and Petey!!!!!!

01-24-2003, 12:47 PM

Stopping in real quick to check on LBH, Hmm still no news, hope that's good and not bad .

Did good yesterday, met all four of my goals for this next two weeks, on to day two.

- Tech :D

PS Liz you're allowed to complain, it's all what you're used to. I will mention it was 1 degree yesterday morning and a high of something like 12, I should walk the dogs, but I froze on Sun and don't relish trying that again.

01-24-2003, 03:41 PM
wow, I can't believe there is no word yet. She was going to go to the hospital to have the baby, wasn't she? (I'm not sure how things work with a midwife.) I hope all is well.

Karen - have a fun weekend.

Liz - hooray for working out while you were gone. Sounds like you did good foodwise also. :)

01-24-2003, 05:00 PM
Hi all,

A quick stop in to check on Lauren. No news still? Jeepers, I hope we hear something before 6.....we're supposed to be leaving around then. Don't think I'll be able to check back until Monday!!

Have a great weekend!!

01-24-2003, 07:02 PM
Wot? No news?!

01-25-2003, 10:10 AM
Still no news!!! She has my number soo if I hear something will post immediately!!!

01-25-2003, 01:29 PM

I'm soo sorry I couldn't get word to you all!! Vicki, I tried to call you from the hospital Thursday, but when it connected, it was all fuzzy. It sounded like someone answered, but their voice was all static. I tried a couple times, not sure if it was something to do with the phone or phone card or what??

Anyway...Peter James Dale was born on Thursday, January 23, 2003 at 4:58 AM. He was 8lbs., 14oz., 19 1/2"!! I made it through almost all the way...got some Demerol...OK...a lot of Demerol towards the end because I could not make my body relax enough during a contraction for him to move down. It was soo intense, but I did it vaginally, and tore a little.

Huge kudos to my DDDDH, Jim. I could not have made it through without him!! He was my rock, the only person I was listening to throughout. The midwife and nurse pretty much left us alone, which annoyed us. They later said it was because I wasn't listening to anyone but Jim, and that's the way it should be anyway. Whatever, I was less than impressed, but overall I'm pretty happy with the experience. Will definitely ask for Demerol earlier next time!

DH has to download the pics off the camera yet, and then I'll post them. He'll be on growingfamiliy.com in a couple days also, that's the company the hospital uses to take first pics. I'll post that address when I get it.

He's soo darn cute, I can barely stand it!! He doesn't cry a lot, and is easily consoled...so far. Now that we're home, I'm sue all heck will break loose!! He's got dark brown hair like daddy, for now. It's just a little more than peach fuzz, and Elvis-like sideburns!! His color is great, but they said he is slightly jaundice. Just have to get the nursing down pat and get more poopy diapers and that should take care of that.

I guess that's it for now!! Thanks for thinking of me!! Sorry to keep you all waiting. :D

Love you all!

01-25-2003, 02:06 PM

So glad to hear it all went well. And welcome home to baby Petey.

I tried to post pics, but they're too big...guess DH has to edit them. Wish I could post one here... I'll see what I can do!
