General Diet Plans and Questions - Anyone up for a HALLOWEEN Challenge??

On Halloween :bat: I would like to dress up and go do something fun. So I have Halloween as my goal right now, and wanted to see if anyone else would like to join in!? Starting this Friday the 29th, there is 13 weeks & 3 days until October 31st. I can record our weights every week, until we get to our goal :badbat:

I'd like to start our first weigh in this Friday and go from there. Everyone welcome, at anytime :ghost:

I'm in!!! I don't normally dress up on Halloween (I usually do candy patrol...haha), but there is a skating competition that I'm going to watch around that time and I would love to be down some more by then :)

I'm in! I would like to lose 10.5 lbs by Halloween! That will also put me almost at my ultimate ("for now") goal, and back at my lowest ever adult weight. I am 137.5 today. So goal by Halloween = 127. I think that is do-able!? At least I hope ;)

Jen... Aww thanks girl! I do feel prettier when I'm dressed up, alter ego type thing haha I did do 2 costumes in 2009 which was sooo fun, and didnt have to buy either of them (best part lol) the referee outfit was my friends work outfit she had to wear on Football Mondays, and the other outfit my friend got me :)

I do by the way always wear black shorts under the outfits lol I'd wear outfits that didnt show so much if I didnt sweat like a man! Plus nylons to help all the jiggle and suck by belly in a little, I'm all about the under accesories lol

I LOVE Halloween, but I hate dressing up because it stresses me so much attending the annual party and trying to find something to wear that doesn't look terrible...

I will definitely be in, though I will probably start on the August 5th date as I am currently doing a 2 week maintenance period to hopefully break a stubborn 2 month long plateau. August 5th lines up perfectly with the last day of eating at maintenance and restarting the plan though!

I found some Halloween pics!
2006 - Gypsy costume... about 265lb
2007 - Group costume... we went as the 7 deadly sins. I was greed. I was about 250lb and just thankful I didn't get stuck with gluttony! ;)
2008 - Group again... we were "cereal killers". We dressed up like morbid versions of cereal characters and carried weapons. I was TOny the tiger. My friend there is the Trix rabbit. We also had the Cherrios bee and Lucky the Lep. Oh, I'm about 260 there.
2009 - Group... we went as oddly titled beauty queens. My friend was Miss Conception, to take advantage of her pregnancy. I was Miss Understood, I went sorta goth. We also had Miss Matched and Miss Terious. I'm about 270lb there.

And, just for kicks (and vanity... :D), there's a pic of me dressed up as a bridemaid for my brother's wedding this summer! About 215lb there.

Thanks, JillNicole for the kind comments on my pics! :D We have fun trying to come up with a group theme every year. As for the bridemaid pic, my brother's lovely wife allowed us to pick any dress we wanted, as long as it was purple and sort of chiffony. I liked her already, but that really sealed the deal! ;)

I have weighed as low as about 131, and I was pretty damn close, but I still had some undesirable fat on me. =P I carry weight very weird for my height, and even the smallest bit shows up really badly. The smallest size I've ever been was a small 10 or so, even in the 130s!

The smallest I have been was 105. It was right after I graduated highschool. Only lasted about 6months. I was wearing a size 1 in pics I looked tiny but but I didn't think of myself as skinny. I was still selfconciouse about my belly and boobs. I have a tiny frame somewere in this body....

OK everyone, today I weighed in and apparently magically gained 1.6 pounds in one day. Ugh. So, my first weigh-in is 183. Boo.

I'd love to join!!! Halloween is big around here. I have four young children and our oldest sons birthday is just before. He'll be a teenager this year!:badbat: It's driving me batty just thinking about it. Im in! :) My WI are on Friday already so this is perfect... and Halloween is my favorite! I will set my goal at 20lbs... I know its going to be a stretch but I think I can do it!!! :) 205.6 was my WI last Friday... up from last month. anywho- Now I think I will go costume shopping!

OH, also I am registering for a Zombie Buffet 5K! a couple days before Halloween so that is extra motivation to get my :ghost:boo-tay Moving! lol
I have never ran more than 2 miles in my entire life and that was a few years ago when I decided I wanted to start running, once I got to that point I stopped-been kicking myself ever since! I am starting C25K tomorrow! :)

I hope I meat my goalb my tom is coming and I feell bloated. But I have stuck with my diet plan so it is shuper anoying...grrr. I also have been a tad so I haven't exercized too much other than boating and swimming...

Good Morning Ladies! I hope everyone has a fabulous day! I started c25k yesterday and my shins are a bit sore today! I will be working in the garden in the 100 degree heat to get my exercise for the day- I need to weed it desperately- its really like a garden of weeds with a few plants! I won't be doing it again next year- I think I will go with a raised bed garden next year! Or maybe even just a few plants on the porch, we'll see...

anywho- I have a bad habit of weighing daily(well, some view it as bad, I think its a good way to gauge my body as long as I don't get frustrated with the scale!) and I am down 2lbs already! I have a good feeling about this!
We were looking for costumes last night and I can't seem to find anything I like. We always have a halloween party and this year I think we will do a halloween/octoberfest party where everyone brings their fave beer and doesn't necessarily drink their own beer... I have a beer garden girl costume I just may reuse for this year- that is if I can't find another one I want!

BrillMama... I love outfits that u feel beautiful but don't show as much but it's so hot in California!! Lol so I always have to choose my outfit depending on where I'm going, which is usually my lil hometown bar to see everyone from school, and it gets HOT, since it's a small bar it's easy to *fill up! But I wish I could wear whatever I want I stead of just the little bitty outfits, but I hate sweating! Lol. When I go to my moms & handout candy with my little sister I usually do an easy cute "dress up" like buy cat ears, draw black whiskers and a nose & wear all black :)*

Rdw1... That costume is super cute & will be PERFECT for the party!! My X-bf's dad had a picture of one of the St.Pauli's girls in his garage and when he first met me he was like holy crap! You're the girl from my poster!!!! Lol! I wear braids in my hair a lot. So that's what those outfits remind me of :lol:*

I'm bursting at the seams to tell someone about my jog last night!!! I normally warmup on the elliptical at the gym and then jog for 2-2.5 miles at 5.5mph. That's an 11min mile. Last night I decided to jog around the neighborhood instead. And I timed myself, but didn't track the distance as I went -- waited until I got home to check it. I warmed up with a 0.6mi walk and then jogged 2.3miles in 22 minutes. That's a 9:35 minute mile!!! I've only ever gotten sub-10minute once before, for just one mile, on the treadmill and it was HARD. But I still felt like I had a bit to give when I got done last night, in fact I sprinted the last 100yd to my door!! I'm sorta stunned! Might have to give up the treadmill! :dizzy::dizzy::dizzy:

And I feel ya on the heat jillnicole! It can get so hot inside the divey little bars out here!

I accedently bought ultra lowrise jeans for her... didn't notice the big flippin lable that said ultra low till she had them on at home.. her but crack stuck out the top of the back and parely enuf height in the fron to cover her. I took em to the dump.. didn't even want to return cause I figured I would rather waist the money then let another girl get em........

Thanks ladies!! I'm still pretty excited. Headed out again with a friend tomorrow. Will be slower, I can feel it in my muscles today! And after a few months running, a lot of the jiggle clears right up! At least on the legs... but a tshirt covers the rest! :D Seriously, I've been so surprised at how quickly my muscles toned up! And I was never an exerciser before. I never liked to exercise out either and the gym scared me to death. Now I just don't care! :P

Hey Ladies! I am excited about WI tomorrow! I sure hope I have been good enough to get the scale moving! :) It has been down but you never know depending on what I eat when it jumps around A LOT. I am a heavy water retainer, I have seen up to 9lbs from day to day!!!

I don't worry about what anyone else things, I don't think I juggle a whole lot, definitely some but I don't care! Running is for me not for anyone else and If they don't have anything better to do with their time than worry about my jiggly-self running then they need to get a life!!! lol

I am contemplating getting up early to do my last c25k run of the week... I am never good at waking up early but its only 30 minutes, maybe I can make it happen :) :crossed:

Also, I am looking for a new do! I got my hair done yesterday and EVERY time I do the same thing and so does my friend!!!(we both are professional stylists) We made a pact that we're both doing something different next time! We marked out 5 hours and called it super makeover day so we won't cut ourselves short and take more clients(like we usually do!)... SO excited! A different color and cut, hopefully I will lose a bit more of this second chin by then! lol

Sorry for the late weigh in.

My husband was hospitalized with a Staph infection, and since he is diabetic, it got pretty bad. We went into the hospital Saturday morning and left Friday night. Hes on major Antibiotics and i have to change his dressings every 4 hours but hes getting better...slowly

Anywhoooo I stayed with him the entire time in the hospital. the first couple days i ate CRAP! (Chili cheese fries, waaaaay too much soda, ice cream, fried chicken ect) but then i said no more! and walked (in 95 degree heat) to the grocery store and bought some all natural instant oatmeal with dried cranberrys and flaxseed (soooo gooood) for the last 2 days. I also did some powerwalking on all 4 floors of the hospital (that thing was Huuuuuge! They must have though i was a weirdo :p) the first thing i did when i got home was take a shower and make a lovely whole fruit/veg smoothy nummy!

I was scared to weigh in this morning since i ate so much horrible ****, but im at 343, 2 pound loss =D

I'm so happy to finally see some movement again! The last two weeks have been pure ****. First to have gained 0.4 lbs after TOM, and then to lose nothing for an entire week! I even cheated a few times and checked the scale throughout this week and was supremely disappointed that I had'nt seen it budge. Then all of a sudden today, WHOOSH!! :woohoo: I'm really glad I stuck with it.

The most important thing for me has been consistency. Unfortunately this was a lesson I had to learn the hard way... After plateauing and getting frustrated with my lack of progress I fell off the wagon for a few months. In that time, I became complacent, worrying neither about nutrition or exercise, and I slowly gained about 10 lbs back. Seeing all that work undone was really discouraging. I recommitted to staying on track, even if I get stuck for a month or two at the same weight. In the end, watching what I eat and exercising is always ALWAYS going to produce a better result than saying "F*** it" and giving up.

Also, exercise is your friend! I went through a large chunk of this journey with minimal exercise and lost mainly on diet alone. The weight came off, but I still have more flab than I'm comfortable with. Fitness is now my main goal, with nutrition as a secondary. ;) Keep at it and you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish!

Wow! Thank you all for responding to my posts! The reason why I ask is, yea I have lost 20 lbs, but that is over the course of about 4 months. When in reality if i had kept consistent I should have lost about 35-40 lbs by now. I know some journeys are slower than other, and this is a marathon not a sprint, but I just wish I could be consistent.

Jill: Thanks so much ! I try to tell myself that every time I dont feel like going to the gym! I dont know if i missed this, but are you following a specific diet plan? or calorie counting?

When I met my boyfriends parents this past July, they said they loved me and the only problem they had was my weight and that I needed to lose some weight before we got married. And by "some weight" they were thinking about 30 lbs. That obviously pushes me, but I just get so lazy sometimes with my food. I go to the gym, but I guess my biggest problem is eating healthy. Any suggestions?!?

Kneed~ the fact that they told you you need to lose weight should be a HUGE red flag. What was you boyfriends response and just think of how they could interfere with your life in the future.. parenting, homes,jobs..
You should be loosing weight for you. And for nothing else... mabey that is why you are having trouble... mabey you will lose the weight and there will be another problem... don't take this lightly... if you marry him this will be your lifeFOREVER

Awww, TOM bit me in the butt this week... my week 2 weighin was 214lb. :( BUT I'm not too upset because 1) Monday had a previously described awesome run, 2) Wednesday I jogged with my perfectly svelte friend and kicked her a$$ and 3) Friday I jogged for a full 5k - farthest so far! SO, not loving the 2 lb gain, but it'll come off. I just need to figure how to handle this new-found but-its-the-week-before-TOM-and-Im-always-hungrier attitude. I can't do this every month!

They need to love and accept you for you. Your weight should never be any part of the equation... I have somewhat ha to deal with that myself making my mother in law believe I was happy with me even of I wasn't... Making her realize her son was happy with me no matter what she thought...

So....Iíve been naughty this week...

Iíve been in a BBQ kick this week, Kielbasa, Bratwurst, beef kabobs and lots of fried rice *sigh* on top of that vie only gone to the gym twice.

Plus vie been having this baaaaaad pain in my heels, followed by an odd numbing sensation, I think its because I have been running errands in my flip flops and its been messing me up, so I tossed out my sandals, bad!

Also Happy Belated B-day Jill, Iím a sucker for the classic "playboy bunny" look, so my vote is for #3!

As far as my Screen name goes. its a really LOOOONG story. Basically my name is Tyler (Ty for short) and Zzyzx is the name of a town in California (if you drive from LA to Las Vegas you pass by it, Iíve made that drive a million times) founded by Curtis Howe Springer in the 40's, He came up with the name Zzyzx claiming it was the last word in the English language, He named the settlement Zzyzx as a gimmick to ensure that it would be "the last word" in health.

. Mr. Springer claimed he was a Radio Evangelist, Medical doctor and Preacher...and he was none of those....

Basically I use the name Zzyzx because its a pretty looking/sounding word that makes no sense, thought up by a nut job, that has an interesting story...I wanted a unique screename so...there ya go :)

Congrats to all of the weight loss!! :carrot: -- I cant wait to start seeing the numbers drop on the scale.

I did want to ask a question-- As a newbie, i have really been sticking to my calories.... however, my loving fiance has been offering me foods that are not healthy...

I dont think he is doing it on purpose, but does anyone have any suggestions to remind him not to offer??? I am in the begining and my will power is not that great.... im afraid im bound to accept an offer here and there.

Any suggestions would be great!!! :)

is it way too late to join? I've lost my motivation & lost my way.I was on WW but couldn't afford to keep it up,then tried doing it on my own for the last few months,just couldn't get it.
I'm at 175 which is a loss of 22 pounds so far this year.

Kayla... I told my boyfriend from the beginning to remember I'm on specific calories and want to chose my own foods, so to make it easier for mevplease do not offer me foods or joke about how good anything is. I also asked him not to buy any of my Dave and bring them home: pizza or Starbucks. He can eat them at the place with his friends instead. I'm sure everyone has a diff way of talking to loved ones but I think it's definitely a talk that has to be had. You can google it also for more answers :)

Beliter... :welcome2: not to late :) our weigh INS are Fridays. Congrats on your weight loss so far. You could still calorie count as a cheaper way of sticking to certain guidelines :)

Thanks so much!! We had "the talk" last night :o. I just simply said, if I am hungry, I will get my food. If you do not like what I am cooking for dinner, I may ask you to make your own so that I am not tempted to take bites here and there. I also asked him to come into the kitchen and talk to me while im cooking ANYTHING. I have a bad habbit of grazing as im preping food. :(.

Hopefully we can cut back on the offerings.... i dont know how many more times i can hear "do you want some cheese on that"-- referring to veggies LOL

Been good so far this week and weekend and looking forward to a drop this week for my week #1

I am skipping fridays way in because I am starting a juice fast today and am doing it for at least 10 days. I gained a few pounds on vacation.. go ahead and put todays weight of 191 in for Friday... can't wait to see what my body thinks of the fresh juice flood. Thx

Kayla- I don't have any problems now with that over the years dh has adjusted and now I really don't find the foods he eats attractive. But before if I was to say that looks good he would tell me how gross it was ;0) Especially doritos... he would say you don't want any they are disgusting! lol Good think I don't care for them much anymore or they would still probably be haunting me!

Good Morning Ladies! I just got done with my c25kw3d2r run! (Just in case anyone is wondering its, my couch to 5k week3 day2) I feel good! My knees were killing me at first- I suspect I was a bit of dehydration and because I wore flimsy flip flops all day yesterday- and I spent most of the day shopping on hard floors. My knees were hurting a bit last night but I didn't think anything of it and now I definitely think I won't be wearing those out anymore!

I am going with a friend to the Maroon 5 concert here tonight, I will probably indulge in a beer or two but no more. I will definitely drink lots of water today in preparation. May not drink at all- we will see!
Mom is coming down today and we are heading to the farmers market... I am needing some more veggies-I buy a lot from Trader Joes but some of their stuff is expensive, and some is cheap. I refuse to pay 3 bucks for 3 lil heads of baby bok choy or 3 small zucchini!
anywho- I hope yall are having a great day!!!

So today hasnt been the best day :(. I have been eating well, but not feeling well. For the most part of the day ive had a dull headache ( maybe caffiene withdrawl)--I felt great the last few days, then today.... in the dumps :?:. Anyways, i ventured out to Target today and I was promptly greeted with racks of Halloween attire!?! Seems like they make the time come faster and faster,... anyways it reminded me of the challenge and NO MATTER WHAT---I AM COMMITED :) :D

So I wasn't going to weigh this week... but I am addicted to the scale and couldn't not.... so I am down 3lbs to 185. I am super pleased. I went on vacation and had gotten back up to 191. I am still fasting. Yesterday I did chew a peice of sugar free gum, and I had a few blackberries. But I sqwished um in my mouth and spit the goop out. Lol
Today is day 4. I was wanting to do 30 days but I don't know if I can do it.... my sencses and weirding out. The kids had a tootsie pop in the back seat and the smell was so strong.. I don't even like thoseb things but my mouth was watering like crazy.... I caught myself enjoying the smell so.mujch I busted out laphing driving down the road..

I have a Vitamix that i LOVE! and i do a produce juice everyday consisting of spinach,carrots,strawberrys,blueberries,Pineapple, banana,Flax seed, protien powder and all natural mango juice...sooo good! I have that twice a day with breakfast and lunch.

Its so awesome that your doing a natural juice fast :hug:, your body will love it, since i started jucing ive felt so much better all around! :carrot:

I went out with the girls last night and drank too much :/ oy. Feeling it today! I thought this morning I am definitely going to whole foods and getting some green juice!!! I make it in my blender every day but they can put a whole lot more veggies in than I can since I eat the fiber too ;0) I need to detox! Why do I do this to myself?! Staying strong and OP today, and the coming week! This one was tough with the concert and then the event last night. Glad to not have big plans for a bit!

Hello All! Im so sorry ive been MIA the past week! Unfortunately ill be quite for another 2 weeks, I have a lot on my plate right now!

But thanks to all the ladies that responded about my boyfriends parents weight comment. Honestly at the end of the day, I know i want to do it for myself and others can talk all they want!

Kayla- sorry I didn't reply before now! I saw it but didn't have time then I forgot! Anywho- have you started the program? The best tips I can give you are listen to your body~ stay very hydrated~ get plenty of rest... also if you need to repeat a week I think its best to do it. Also, I tried to do my c25kw4d1 today and failed. I think mostly because its soooo hot out and I didn't do it first thing this morning.... so I am going to do it again tomorrow. earlier! Thats key for me too since I am running outside, doing it early to get it out of the way and when its cooler outside. I can't wait to hear how you are doing!!! Good Luck!

Good Morning chickies! I have been struggling the past couple days with my exercise! I am exercising but haven't been able to complete a whole day of c25kw4. Today I got through about 3/4 of it then had to walk the rest of the way... *sigh* I am not going to let myself get discouraged though because I am still working out and even though I didn't run the end of it I walked it and then some!

I am off today so I have a huge to do list. One of my recent goals is to minimalize lots of stuff in my life. So I will work on that today in the kitchen, and in the clothes closet(well, one of them!-baby steps ;))

Looks like I'll be putting your weight chart this weekend for this & last week.

MY ENTIRE TOWN HAS BEEN EVACUATED! It's so crazy, like a movie! There is a huge tanker of fuel on fire, it is connected to 4 other tanks all full of fuel as well! The news is reporting that everything within at least a 1 mile radius would be gone if the tank blows! I live 2 blocks away, so really hoping for this to be resolved quickly and most importantly safely. There is shelters set up all outside our town!

They're hoping to have this resolved by tomorrow, started yesterday around 11:30am. I really hope so, we all badly want to go home.

Thanks for the welcome :D I forgot to weigh in this morning so my official 1st weigh in will be tomorrow which falls on a Friday so that's perfect since the weigh ins are on Fridays. I've been looking at costumes yesterday. I'll find one I like today and post it up. Today I started counting calories. Day 1 of my weight loss journey. I've had a lot of journeys but this one is different. I'm doing this my own way without any crazy diets. I already started a spreadsheet where I have everything I ate with the amount of calories. I'm going to print off my sheets and keep a binder of them. So far so good. :D

Ok ladies tomorrow is weigh in already!! Not excited about it lol I was "starving" the last 2 days just because I was so stressed with the evacuation. I would eat and is all I could think of was eating again. I tried to tell my body that's not how we handle things anymore but she was being stuck up!! Lol :) I still did fairly well. About 1,400 cals the first day & 1,800 the second. (which I usually stick to 1,200 with 1,300 being my allowable cap)*

One other thing... I had not used the bathroom the whole time I was dealing with the evacuation. I was getting a little nervous, def don't want my body keeping that stuff lol... But as soon as I got home today bam! It's like my bum is a princess and threw a fit until she had her own throne back. Haha oh metaphors!*

Whoa Jill! Scary! I am not super excited about WI tomorrow- thought I had an extra day for some reason!!! LOL, I wouldn't have eaten quite as much dinner had I realized that! ah well... I made some potatoes that had more sodium than I would have used had I been thinking straight!

On a more positive note I finally got through C25KW4D1 workout without stopping! I may have been jogging slower than I can walk but I didn't give up! I will rest tomorrow and then Do it all over again on Saturday! :)

I hit 2 milestones today, guys!! :)

I weighed in at 214.5 which means I'm officially not obese anymore! AND I just did the longest run I've done yet, at 3.31 km in 23 minutes. So happy today. :D (Though, I suppose my weigh-in for the chart would be 215.. but I'm holding onto that .5 ;))
