I met with a personal trainer for the first time on Saturday morning (he kicked my butt btw) and I asked him when the gym was usually the quietest in the evening. He told me around 7:30pm. So today I show up ready for some secluded jiggling on the treadmill, but when I pulled into the parking lot it was PACKED! I sat in my car and started making excuses not to go in (all the treadmills are probably full, i'll be in someone's way, etc.) until I finally yelled at my self "Kat! Get your lazy a** out of the car and get into that gym!" And I did. Working out in front of people has always been one of my biggest fears since I've been heavy and I conquered it today. :carrot:

WTG, KittyKat! Now that you've faced your fear, it will just get easier and easier to do. Just remember, you and your health are waaaaay more important than anything anyone else could do or say.

Besides, most folks are too into their own workout to pay much attention to yours.

Congrats!!! I always had the same fear, but I've found in the last 3 months that the people at my gym are super friendly and nice... perhaps even a bit too chatty for me!

Oh, that's great news!!!! I know I felt the same way when I first started working out in the gym. I think a lot of overweight people do, like they are not as entitled to be at the gym as fit people. But as time goes on, you will realize you DO have a right to be there and what's more is that no one is watching you or judging you at all. Most people at the gym are only interested in themelves and their own workouts (and are secretly wondering if other people, you included, are judging THEM).
