Good morning and happy FRIDAY!!!! Hooty hoo!!! haha.
Well, I weigh myself daily and am fine with it, I have never obsessed, and I am watching the scale go down!!! I can almost taste onederland!!! Couple more weeks I suppose, but I am hoping to be 210 by Monday's weigh in.

I am so interested in the whole WF debate from yesterday. I don't use their stuff often, but occasionally the choc syrup with my evening choc shake. It seems weird b/c their products have nothing in them!? Yet Ken's Light options (2 TBLS) of the dressing with less than 2g carbs is acceptable (so says my clinic). So, I look forward to hearing what people think and also hearing about todays SC and NSV!!!!
Happy Friday Friends!

Friday is finally here! I went to a Lia Sophia gala event last night and they were serving cupcakes and alcohol. They also had candy at each table. Yet I managed to stay strong and not have any of it. This morning I was so happy cause my scale says I am down from yesterday. Can it get any better? Best of luck to everyone this weekend. May the scale treat you kindly.

Isn't it nice when the scale rewards our good behavior from the night before? You go girl! Great job on saying no!

Interesting discussion on the WF products. I use them daily, but sparingly. On my IP pudding cakes I use a tsp on the baked cakes, so yummy. I used the Asian dressing on my ground turkey and cabbage for a yummy Chinese type dish. I like the Sesame Ginger on my romaine and leaf lettuce, but again I don't go overboard or even use all 2 TBSP that they say you can use. My IP clinic has a big sign up about buying Walden Farms products at the health food store. The store owner is so kind in making sure they have them in stock, and was even going to look into getting individual packets so we can take them with us on the road. She says they might be pricey since she has to buy them by the box.

OK, my day is is here....WI #1 @ 10:30......put exact same clothes on today that I had on the day I started (silly right?). anywhooooo. interested to see what happens. Also going to ask about WF products and splenda, those seem to be the biggest discrepencies from our posts..... Now have to decide which 3 boxes I have to buy :( will miss my variety. Had IP Wildberry yogurt today, it was yummy....... da da dahhhhhhhhhh.......the big moment looms, hope I am not building it up too much, but read to change my weight on my profile like the rest of you peeps.....not weighing myself at home.

Good morning. I will have to go back and read the last couple pages of yesterday's post because I was gone all night.

Having a bittersweet day. I just bought some capris in May with some bday money I had been saving. I didn't want to get them in April cause I KNEW I'd lose weight. Well, I didn't lose a thing in a month so I bite the bullet and just bought them. They are super cute and were buy one get one half off so I got a couple of great pairs of capris for $60. They were a little snug but I wasn't going up a size (stubborn) and I figured about 10 pounds and they'd fit nice. Well, I wore a pair a couple days ago and they fit sooooo much better. I even had to keep pulling them up. Today I'm wearing the other, this one fit better off the bat than the others (different brand) and I'm walking out of them. Let me tell you how dang comfy they are! I feel like I'm not wearing pants! I'll pull them up over and over for awhile because they are cute and new. Kinda makes me sad since I do love them but then I think about how cute the smaller ones would look if I like these.

I have lost about 25 lbs so far on this diet but I still don't feel good on it. I have diarrhea almost every day. And I have been sick (congestion/coughing) since week 2. Now maybe this is all coincidence but I just feel like since starting I haven't felt like myself??? I recently had bloodwork at the drs and she was concerned about my liver function. She said it looked like I had fatty liver disease and wanted to recheck it in a couple months. Can this diet alter your immunity? I feel like I get sick then get over it and within a couple days, I'm sick again.

Ummmm take that BITTER off your post, make it SWEET :) I know it stinks shrinking out of something new, but how many days did you try to lose weight to fit INTO something?????? CONGRATS lady!!!! obviously, on this program, you need to try things on weekly, or you could pass them buy. I myself have a CUTE pair of jean capris with a handkerchief belt I bought at Sams Club, got home, yeah, didn't fit, wouldn't go over my hips!!!!!!!!!!! they are hanging on my wardrobe and I am going to try them on every week after weigh in :)

Good morning everyone. I am finishing my 8th week on program and seem to lose only a half a pound a week for the last month. I have been very good following everything except on occasion not enough water. I definitely see loss in inches and my clothes but not in the scales. I intend to keep going though I still am getting pressure at work to eat the sweet treats they bring in almost everyday. Want to see this through all the phases to see how I will eat at the end of the program. Today I am shopping again for smaller jeans so that will be fun. Have a fabulous weekend!!

Good Friday Morning Ip ers, Iv'e been reading a lot about clinics that only sell products by the box. My clinic has a box of everything open so you can get quite the variety, 1 of everything if you wish. For example, 7 different restricted for the week give you a great variety, then you are also able to try things w/o having to buy an entire box and not like it. They also let us return unopened packets if you bought a few of something had 1 and disliked it.

I suggest recommending this to your clinics so that people can have a variety of products to try and eat each week. Only 3 products a week would get very boring after a while since we are so restricted to what we can eat. They sell each packet for $4 then just add up all you individual packets for the grand total.

My work slacks are getting baggy and sloppy looking. I dug into the back of the closet and pulled out 2 suits that I bought in may of 2006 that were just a little small then. I bought them and said that I'd take the tags off when they fit. Well Last night I took the tags off. They fit perfectly. New work clothes!

Morning all and happy Friday! Had a great workout last night and have a 55 minute session tonight that I am really looking forward to!

Had my first IP product this morning that I did not enjoy. I bought the chocolate pancake/muffin mix. Made it as pancakes and found them to be super yuck. Maybe less water next time. I will try them as a muffin this weekend. MUCH prefer the non restricked crispy cereal pancake. Live and learn!

Good Morning All,

Today is my official 3 week weigh-in. My home scale is the same as at the clinic and it is a total of 11.4 lbs. Not bad for 3 weeks, just a little concerned about the 3-5 lbs/wk that they advertise. The only time I lost more than 2 lbs was the first week and that happens on every diet. hmmmm. Maybe a big loss is coming in week 4. I have not cheated once and I have quite a bit to lose, so I expected a little more. I do have a faulty thyroid and take Synthroid, so I guess I should expect to be a sloooowwww loser. Very Happy to be losing. :)

My week 3 was a ZERO loss and then week 4 was 5.5 loss. I just say hang in there, and with your thyroid condition, things could be slower for you.

A couple more things:
1. WHOEVER invented the Big Mac in a bowl... I am on my knees thanking you, what a treat!

2. My clinic (like the above poster) opens all different boxes and you pick what you want. Someone mentioned that they could not sell as "individual" packets per some regulation or law. My coach just puts all my different packs into a box ( 7 per box) and scans that box and that makes everyone happy. Maybe you could suggest this at your clinic, it keeps the book-keeping ligit and the customer HAPPY!

Good morning everyone from Rainy Edmonton, this weekend is our Indy Race, hopefully the track is dry on Sunday for it. I can hear the cars from my house...It is the start of our Exhibition week, I use to love going to just walk around and have the things that can't be spoken of here.... miss that a bit but haven't gone for quite a few years but alway hit the "Taste of Edmonton" but will also miss that this year as they rarely have anything that fits IP, there is always next year. I must say I love losing weight more than I miss the other stuff. I am doing a stay at home vacation this year. Haven't decided what to do other than long walks with my dogs. Want to clean and do yard work if it ever stops raining. Might paint one of my bedroom walls, I have a sticker/decal that says DREAM on it so I thought that would be perfect over my bed... Yep I might do that. Going to a Goodbye party tonight for one of our Agility friends so I should have fun there, have made a nice broccoli salad and plan making some squares for it as well. Hope everyone has a great weekend and remember drink lots of water, especially those of you in the heatwave places... Take care my friends and have a good one.:hug:

Good luck and if you can afford it buy 4 boxes, for a couple of weeks then you have a little bit of a choice on what to have. I did that when mine clinic went to the box format and it seems to work good.

That is why I haven't bought anything in a regular store, I go to goodwill or value village or consignment stores, then when you shrink it isn't so hard getting rid of your clothes. I return them to where I bought them for the next person to use them. It is like shedding your fat, you shed your clothes for the better.:D

No I have Not! and that is why I am still Happy to be losing, just fearful it will slow down even more and well, to be perfectly honest, it is costly $$ and I don't know how long I can keep up an extra ~$380/month, since hubby's car has 350,000 miles on it. lol. He loves that car, but I know it is gonna die soon.

Week five weigh in was this morning. I did not lose a pound. I did, however, go down an inch (half inch in my waist and half in my hips). I have been um..backed up so I bought the NoviLax. I am really discouraged right now because I did really well last week (despite the stomach virus and the crackers which had the same carbs as a restricted). I also swam like a beast for two days. My coach said that its probably because I am having bathroom issues and also exerted myself too much. I have a hard time believing thats the only issue...I guess I am just worried I won't get down to the mid-160s by August 18th (the day I leave for my vacation). :( I could use some encouragement... not trying to be whiny just bummed!

Hope everyone has a great week/end. I am hoping to take some time to relax with the hubby and see if it cools down....ugh, Illinois is beastly hot!

So... my brilliant "I'll use a drycleaner hanger to help me pull the zipper of my dress up all by myself" idea fell flat on its head when I realized that my fantastic new dress doesn't have a hole in the zipper pull. Sigh... After about 5 minutes, I managed to push it far enough up my back that I could reach it from above... I was late to work because of it... Happy Friday everyone!

I totally understand the money thing. That's what I'm doing things my way. I told my hubby I would do it this way until I stop seeing results and then I'm going to think about paying full price for the IP food if I get stuck down the line. Good luck with the car. I had one like that. When I quit driving it my hubby kept driving it until there was no more drive left in it and he entered it in a demolition derby just to get everything out of it he could. :dizzy:

So, i love working out, how has your loss been while working out? last time I did the diet they made me eat a bar before my workout so I didn't lose too much muscle. My diet clinic is a spa and workout place too, so I am doing Zumba with my diet coach at a class there on Monday (my first weigh in). I am assuming working out is okay if she says so. Wow, that is not good. Are you doing the program through your dr or a clinic? If it's a clinic, what does your coach have to say about it? I'm not sure how this diet alters your immunity, I wish I could help. You are obviously lacking in something if you only feel good for a couple of days before you get sick again. I'm so sorry that you aren't feeling well and hope it gets resolved soon.

Congrats on all the victories this morning! Don't mornings feel great when you didn't give in to temptation the night before?

I weighed myself this morning, had another pound loss and officially passed from "obese" to "overweight" which was my next mini-goal. I can't believe how fast this diet works. After going downtown with my family yesterday and watching them eat fish and chips, donuts and sugary drinks while I was stuck with my protein shake, now I see why it was worth it!

Happy Friday everyone!! This was a rough week for me since I broke down on Sunday and had some ice cream. I was discouraged and mad at myself for giving in. I started fresh on Monday and have been OP all week. I had WI #3 this morning and was down 2.5 pounds for the week and 4 inches in the past three weeks. I bought a box of restricted bars today to eat when I have that sweet craving. I haven't been this weight since I got pregnant with my son - and he is 12!!!!! I am a slow loser so I'm estatic with 2.5 pounds. This has been an emmotional week with the cheat, and I was tempted to quit IP. I'm so glad that I had this forum because the success stories are what keeps me going. Thank you everyone for all the encouragement!!! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!

Happy Friday everyone!!!:carrot:

Let me start by saying I just finished watching the video that Sandyh50 suggested yesterday....

"I watched the documentary "FAthead" on hulu.com last night and was really "educated" more about low carb diets."

OMG!!! Great explanation and an eye opener...so thanks Sandy for posting that!!!

Yummy idea..... not sure if I got this idea from the boards or not....took the peanut butter bar and sliced it into thin slices then put them into the freezer. Had them last night.....YUM!!! Melt in your mouth and take longer to eat cuz they're frozen!!!! LOL!!

Also, used banana extract in place of vanilla extract in my "IP cereal" pancakes this morning....thought it was a nice change.:smug:

Went to the market hoping to get some rhubarb....dying to try the recipe from yesterday's daily thread using the IP vanilla pudding. Need to go to a farmer's market I guess!!

Going to a 50th Wedding Anniv party this evening. At first, when we got the invitation, I thought...."oh yeah, I'm gonna cheat". Here I am, day of, no desire for alcohol or any carb rich foods. I REALLY want to get to goal, and when I lose a week to cheating that's a real bummer!! I hope to be in phase 3 next month ...looking forward to a yummy breakfast in phase 3....but until then....I NEED TO STAY OP!!!!!!:smug:

Best wishes to all for a fabulous OP weekend!!

Hang in there, look how far you have come! You are soooooo close to your goal, that is probably why you are tempted to stop. Because you look and feel great! Don't be like me, phase 3 and 4 are the most important to maintain for life!!!

Hi, I am a slow loser too. I have PCOS, so not sure if that has something to do with it, but I have NEVER lost like this and I don't plan on stopping. It is expensive, but I need this. I expressed concern for slow weightloss and my coach and clinic owner looked at me like I had 3 heads. They said an average of 2.7lbs a week is excellent and that the 4-5lbs a week is more for men, who tend to lose faster!? Either way, as long as we stay OP 100% it will all average out. Stay positive and it will happen!

*sigh*

Seriously...YAY RAW GO GIRL. You're doing an awesome job and next week could be 5 pounds. Stay true. Better and Better, more amazing things to come......and yes it can be just as simple as that is the only issue.

I am so sorry you are not well. I have not heard anything about this diet altering the immunity. I know we are not allowed any fruits but we are getting our vitamins which should make up for that. Please keep us informed with the doctor's findings.

WOW! That's such a big victory. Congratulations!!

I go to a clinic for the program and my dr doesnt really approve of the diet. She thinks it is messing with my system and wants me to try and get off of it and see what happens. I guess you can get fatty liver from rapid weight loss. She said I should just try to eat healthier but I love this diet and have been so successful. So I'm torn. Do I follow Drs instructions or continue on :(

Good Morning,

I'm starting IP today using alternative products. I have some of the packets from another company that I'm going to try. I'm excited and motivated seeing the wonderful results that all of you are experiencing but I also see the commitment and determination that it takes. I haven't been a "normal" BMI since 1975. I'm hoping that this will get me there. I've been a low carb eater off and on for many years so I'm familiar with high protein/low carb. I'm a slow loser, on thyroid meds. I love to walk and do pilates and yoga.

My official weigh in day will be Monday which is when I go to WW. I need that accountability. If I see the scale go up a pound I know I need to get down to business. In the past, I could shed a few pounds, but then up I'd go. This is going to be my last time! At 60, I just can't afford to keep torturing my body.

Happy Friday Everyone! I am very excited to pick up my 3 kids from camp today and tomorrow! And then we head to a bbq for my mom's birthday. That should be OK, as we are just doing burgers and dogs. I am bringing a veggie burger and will just do the salad. Should be an OP weekend for me! Only hitch is TOM is lurking and messing with my scale! I wish TOM would move away and just not come back! Someday?

Anyways, keep up the good work and I hope everyone has a great weekend

I am so glad you liked "Fathead" too, this is all just a real eye opener for me.

I also freeze my bars and cut into pieces. I just eat a fourth of a bar a day as a treat.

Good luck Josey, I hope you are happy with your results.

I hope I get to this point. I am planning a small cheat for my anniversary in 2 weeks. Maybe I will feel like you by then and stay OP. Right now I'm thinking about that bread and glass of vino every day!

I bet you will!! I have had a few cheats along the way (including TWO trips to Disney)!! But when you work so hard to take it off, and then, because of a "cheat" it takes 5 days just to get that extra weight off...I have found (to me) that it's just not worth it. The closer you get to your goal, the more you want to progress onto the next Phase and it's very exciting to think that you're sooooo close to something you want so bad (I haven't seen these numbers in over 20 years ... I'm 46)!! I think I needed those "cheats" early on to realize that it's just not worth it......after all, this is all about learning from our previous mistakes, right? Good luck!! Best wishes!!

I am so thankful for IP!!:carrot:

Happy Friday Everyone. I just popped in to say a HUGE THANK YOU to whoever invented the pudding cakes. The last week or so I've had a hard time choking down the IP foods but this makes it so much easier. I will definitely be eating all of the puddings this way from now on. I baked up a couple packets last night so I could have one for dessert and one for breakfast...made the drive to work so much more enjoyable.

I read earlier that someone is having "health issues" since the 2nd week of IP. I'm starting to have the same issues. I've had horribly congested sinuses with a gross cough for over a week...I'm really hoping it goes away soon. I haven't struggled yet with odd BMs and I hope I don't. I love this plan and the results are showing so quickly.

I'm fortunate enough to have a bf that works away for 5 days and comes home for 2...after 2 weeks he's started referring to me as hot mama, gorgeous, beautiful and sexy. He said he liked my curves before and will be happy for me as long as I don't lose all of them. Seems like a small NSV for me but it means a lot. I love the way I'm starting to feel...a little more confidence, a little more smile and a little more spring in my step.

This is fantastic. Cheers to an OP day and weekend for everyone. I love the idea of weighing in every Monday to keep more accountable on weekends...I'm definitely doing that from now on!

:)Sorry but I don't think you can really go by the advertised 3 - 5 lbs a week... I think it really depends on your body and how much you had to lose... I was 241 and the pounds came off fast but now I am getting within 30 of my goal it is 1's and 2's is the norm or +s some weeks Hang in there it will all work out in the end... I don't regret any minute of this diet yet.

*sigh*

Week five weigh in was this morning. I did not lose a pound. I did, however, go down an inch (half inch in my waist and half in my hips). I have been um..backed up so I bought the NoviLax. I am really discouraged right now because I did really well last week (despite the stomach virus and the crackers which had the same carbs as a restricted). I also swam like a beast for two days. Hope everyone has a great week/end. I am hoping to take some time to relax with the hubby and see if it cools down....ugh, Illinois is beastly hot!It WAS probably because of that, it is strange how the big C does affect how your body is storing things. I had the same issue you will probably have a big week next week once you are back to normal. It is nice to set goals when you want to be a certain weight but there is no guarantees and you will get there eventually. I look at it this way, even though I wanted to be at a certain weight for a special occasion, I think to myself I may not be there but I am not where I was 6 months ago either so be happy with your progress and you will get to your goal eventually. There are other vacations and other years to be at that weight. Have a great day.

Congrats on all the victories this morning! Don't mornings feel great when you didn't give in to temptation the night before?

I weighed myself this morning, had another pound loss and officially passed from "obese" to "overweight" which was my next mini-goal. I can't believe how fast this diet works. After going downtown with my family yesterday and watching them eat fish and chips, donuts and sugary drinks while I was stuck with my protein shake, now I see why it was worth it!I liked that mini goal too, when I wasn't obese anymore and "JUST" overweight... next goal average weight... yahooo congrats to you.

You learned something from it and I am glad you shared as it is always good for everyone to learn from others mistakes especially when you are new to the program. I think the tempting to quit thing is our sub conscious trying to sabatage us... way to go you worked through it.

Happy Friday everyone!!!:carrot:

Best wishes to all for a fabulous OP weekend!! It might be out of season in the states, as our spring was late here in canada we still have some. I just about bought some the other day but the stuff they had didn't look very good. I noticed on one of these threads that someone said that it was unlimited... sorry totally wrong it counts as your 2 cups of veg. But it is so nice to have, especially when it is hot outside.

Do I follow Drs instructions or continue on :( That is a tough decision, Have you spoke with your coach? is there something different they can do about "fatty liver" on this diet. I can't seem to figure out how you get a fatty liver from this diet. do you have these symptoms?
Fatty Liver Symptoms of Impaired Liver Function:

Headaches and migraines, fatigue, bad breath, mood swings

Lack of mental alertness, confusion, mental fogginess, depression

Hypoglycaemia and unstable blood sugar (diabetes symptom)

Weight gain (particularly around abdomen)

Difficulty losing weight or following a weight loss program

Yo-yo dieting or constantly losing weight and gaining weight

Indigestion, heartburn, reflux, bloating

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Allergies (asthma, rashes, hives and hay fever)

Food cravings including sugar cravings (diabetes symptom)

Gallstones and gallbladder disease

Obesity

High blood pressure

Decreased sex drive

Dry itchy eyes

Fluid retention

and found this as well:
Diet for Fatty Liver
A good fatty liver diet is high in fiber and low in saturated fat and calories. The key is to take it slow, don't change your lifestyle overnight. Losing weight too quickly could actually worsen the disease. Rather concentrate on cleansing the liver and slow responsible weight loss.

if you go to fatburn-secrets it has more, but the diet they recommend seems really similar to the IP diet. I would talk to your coach about if you have fatty liver what you can do with this diet... You might just have to increase your food intake a little, but I would check with both your coach and your doctor. then decide. If it is your health, do what is best for your health.:hug::hug:

Friday is finally here! I went to a Lia Sophia gala event last night and they were serving cupcakes and alcohol. They also had candy at each table. Yet I managed to stay strong and not have any of it. This morning I was so happy cause my scale says I am down from yesterday. Can it get any better? Best of luck to everyone this weekend. May the scale treat you kindly.

I am going to a Lia Sophia thing on Monday, but thankfully it is at my Coaches house (who is also a very long time friend of mine) so I'm not even worried! Most of her family and friends are on IP right now too!! :)

Here is the pudding cake recipe:

Hi All,
I wanted to post this in a separate thread instead of the recipe thread because I don't know how many people go into that thread on a daily basis. Anyway, here is a recipe that my counselor gave me to make the IP puddings into little cakes! They are awesome!

-Preheat oven to 350 degrees
-In a blender, combine (2) egg whites, (1) t. vanilla and 2 oz. of water. Blend well
-Pour liquid contents into a bowl, and gently fold in pudding packet. I usually add a little powder, mix it up, add a little more, etc... The final result is a "batter" similar to brownies. And yes, I lick the bowl and spoon ;)
-To bake, I use (2) small corning ware dishes, you could also make them in a muffin tin, and divide them into (3) equal muffins. I spray the bottom of the dish with Pam so the cakes won't stick.

The cakes will get VERY large while baking, and will deflate when cooling. If you put too much batter into a small baking dish, your cakes will literally explode in the oven. It is VERY important to only fill the baking dish or muffin tin 1/2 way. Which is why you will get 2 small cakes or 3 muffins.

-Bake at 350 for 15-16 minutes. Let cool and enjoy a mini cake.

(2) notes:
1). I have only tried this with Lemon, Butterscotch and Vanilla puddings. They have all turned out excellect! I haven't tried with Chocolate because I don't really care for the chocolate pudding, it is very chalky to me.
2). If you are making the cakes in a muffin tin, fill the empty muffin "holes" with water so that the cakes bake evenly.

Thanks for remembering and asking! I also posted on the other thread how important this group of friends is and how it has def. been a key to my succuss!! Go to the July newbie to read the full sappy shout out....LOL :)

That's fantastic! Congratulations!

Okay, chopped 2 cups zuchinni slices, put on baking sheet sprayed w/Pam, garlic powder, minced onion, sea salt, sprayed again w/Pam 450 about 151-20 minutes YUMMY.....but for my IP , I opened the Pickle Zippers that I had been hoarding............OMG the are WONDERFUL, I feel like I just had a canister of Pringles Dill Pickle flavor.....I got nervous when 2 people the other day posted they hated them and threw them out (something would have to be bad to throw out IP food at what they cost). My clinic is 20 miles away, and I am thinking of driving back over to get a box.....

Hello every one, I'm new to the board and IP, 2nd day. I was a bit hungry last night and again this morning but trying to just keep drinking water. I've read a few times about a "big mac bowl" and pudding cakes but havent seen the recipes. Can any one help?
Good luck to every one over the weekend and thanks!

The Big Mac in a Bowl posted by Counts 71 in 2010:
BIG MAC (no cheese) IN A BOWL
________________________________________
• 1/2 pound raw ground beef, about 5 1/2 ounces cooked weight or 153 grams cooked *
• Salt and pepper, to taste
• 1 teaspoon minced dry onions
• 46 grams dill pickle slices or 2 dill spears, chopped, about 1 5/8 ounces
• 2 tablespoons WF Thousand Island Dressing
• 1 1/2 ounces iceberg lettuce, shredded
Brown the ground beef, drain off any fat, season with salt and pepper.. Meanwhile, soak the dry onions in a little water to rehydrate them. Put the meat in a large salad bowl and add the remaining ingredients. Toss and eat at once.

Or this one.
5 oz Extra Lean Ground Beef
1/4 c finely chopped onion
1/4 c finely chopped dill pickles
3/4 c finely shredded iceberg lettuce
1 - 2 tbsp WF Thousand Island Dressing

Directions:

Cook up extra lean ground beef, drain fat and return to pan and add seasonings of choice (I used garlic powder, onion powder, Mrs. Dash, salt & pepper).

Remove beef from heat & mix in WF Thousand Island Dressing, pickles & onion

Spread lettuce on plate, add beef mixture on top.

I love my IP packets and saw someone say the New Lifestyle packets are exactly the same. I went to the site and they have an introductory special for 19.99 for a sampler of packets. I'm not giving up IP and my coach but would like to have a little cushion of extra packets around. Has anyone done this New Lifestyle special at all?

ROTFL.....omg...I so totally STILL do this......too funny.....nice to warm up your day with 100 squats to loosen jeans enough to wear while trying NOT to pop a button, or like you said, pulling at the arms of a tshirt and through the chest to have something to wear....SEE, that is what we need to think of when we want to cheat!!! Warning – Blue Post (not really all that positive) and I’m looking for either comfort or a kick in the buttocks! (I’m not sure which one I need really.)

I’ve been feeling a little ‘off’ in an emotional way. I hit the 55lb loss mark on Wednesday and I was “meh” about it. I was quite surprised at my reaction as there was no real excitement (I was doing the happy dance at -40 lbs). Within 60 minutes I emailed my bf and asked him if he would still love me if I lost my butt and my boobs went flat (it’s very obvious from his relationship history that he loves BBW’s). Of course he said “yes”…he’s my VIP. :D

DRUM ROLL: I think I’m actually a little scared of loosing my weight…I had that epiphany and decided to mull over it for a few days. I wasn’t ready to post this yesterday because everyone was so awesomely POSITIVE :). All the positivity really did help to read, so thanks. I just didn’t want to be a downer.

I’m shocked, positively shocked…that I’m scared that I’m going to loose all my weight (although at least I’ve identified it). I am scared to give away all my big clothes…I keep thinking “ok Missy, just pack them up in the car and drop them off”…but the pile just gets bigger and bigger and really it doesn’t seem that simple because of my fear. Odd that I needed reassurance from my bf that he’d still love me when I was smaller. These are all emotions that I NEVER EVER thought I’d have to deal with. :(

I realize this is probably one of those emotional lows that comes with loosing all the excess weight and the estrogen releasing into my body. But to be quite honest I’m flabbergasted with myself!

I’m sorry if I have rained on anyone’s positivity today, but I am utilizing this board to help me through this process and you’re all so great. So I want to be truthful with my successes and my challenges. I hope I’m not coming across as whining (cause really, -55lbs is awesome I know that in my heart, apparently my head hasn’t caught up), I just wanted to share.

Let me start off with I don't like coffee unless there is so much cream and sugar you can't taste the coffee... I love the smell of it. Well lately I have been craving ICED coffee with a shot of Davinci syrup... so now I make my coffee (rasp chocolate, or cinnamon hazelnut) and put it in the fridge to chill then when I get home from work have it with ice and the syrup... that is my little treat to myself. I like the bbq sauce too went to the store and they had so many new things I forgot to buy the bbq sauce... sigh.

I think I understand. I am not as excited as I was in the beginning, I think the newness kinda of wears off.

I also understand being scared. I think I am scared of being done. I don't like change and going to to maintenance scares me.

I'm scared I am going to gain the weight back, and I had thoughts about 20 lbs ago, that I should just stop there, because it would be easier for me to maintain. My husband told me not to sell myself short. It was like I was planning on failing, so I might as well stop there. I am glad I didn't.

I still have days where I kinda freak out about it, but they are fewer and farther between. Just keep at it, and see how you feel next week.

And get rid of those clothes. At least put them where you won't see them.

I don't think this was a blue post at all, you seem to have identified the issue and are being honest with yourself about it...that is great. I think to that maybe you identify that pile of clothes as a piece of you. You are going to be able to do so many new things, you will have to get know your new body, and you will LOVE it, change of any kind freaks a lot of people out, so I would say , you are pretty normal, I see someone else already posted saying she felt the same..kinda.
Anywho.....I can't relate to the not wanting to get rid of the the big clothes and get smaller ones, I am estactic when I am the smaller size, I more relate to the other post that I am petrified to go to Phase 2 to maintainance for fear of failure and not making the life change, I don't want to gain it all back.

You put it right - I am scared of change and scared of being done (I'm quite happy knowing exactly what I have to do everyday) - I'm scared of being on maintenance and I'm scared of failing. Guaranteed there are people at work that are expecting me to fail. I have been reading and reading all the phases and telling myself "lifestyle change Carla, lifestyle change". Being "freaked out" is a perfect statement and being ''scared to fail" is another one. :dizzy:

Thank you so much for the reassurances brandam6....I don't plan on giving up but I'm definately freaked out this week.

Hi Ishbel, I went through some emotional turmoil a few weeks ago. It lasted about 2 days and I was crying at the drop of a hat! I really think you nailed it on the head with the estrogen release from the fat breaking down, I also believe (some may disagree) that our bodies hold memories of emotions that we may have had a long time ago that resurface when we start to lose our bellies (where most of us hold our stress anyway).

Here's what Lisag373 advised when I posted about how I was feeling...it made complete sense to me:

It's like, when you're severely overweight, something in your head just shuts off, and says, 'I don't want to look at that', and you block it out and put your fingers in your ears and say, 'lalala'. You disconnect your mental picture of yourself from what you actually see in the mirror.

Once you start to get to a point where it's bearable again, you allow yourself to really LOOK at yourself again. You reconnect your mental image with the physical reality, and while you know it's better, it's not what you're hoping for. You lose that mental armor you built up for yourself, which is nothing but good, but it hurts a little.

But soon, you'll look in the mirror and think, 'damn, really? I look like that?' and you'll have flashes of insane joy at what you're seeing. :-)

Hope this helps:hug:

Ok...so I got a little reprimanded on the "veggie struggle" forum last night when I asked about the occasional V8 for veggie nutrients. I haven't done it yet...I was just looking for opinions. I am 100% committed to IP and staying OP but I'm really struggling with the veggies each day. I guess I find it tricky because I miss creamy, savoury foods and I can't tolerate many of the IP packets on their own. I also don't really care for sweets and find the more tolerable packages (drinks and puddings) a little too sweet. I'm not a person that can eat the same thing for the next few months...let alone the next few days.

I'm looking for advice on what my shopping list should consist of. I've seen a lot of good recipes on here to make the packets and the veggies more interesting. I'm wondering if anyone has a shopping list that they are willing to share...ideally, the staples I should have in my fridge to make it a little easier to stay OP. I find myself having to run out after getting home from work to grab a few things...just to do it all over again a couple days later because I forgot something or I found another recipe. :dizzy:

Veggies, imitation flavours, spices...anything! THANKS!

I think that it's perfectly normal to feel the way that you're feeling (and by the way.....yours is definitely NOT a "blue post)"!!! :smug: We are all here, going thru many of the same struggles, trying to get to that same finish line! When the body goes thru such changes (and at such a fast pace I might add) it takes time for the mind to catch up. Sounds like your excess weight has been maybe a "protective cocoon" for you? Now you're blossoming into a beautiful butterfly!! It's as if you're going thru growing pains.... change is always good, and ALWAYS makes us stronger human beings!! You have come such a long way! Pat yourself on the back....allow yourself to feel what you're feeling, and validate that you are doing an awesome job!! If today you're feeling sad, remember that tomorrow is a brand new day... just hold on and take a deep breath! YOU CAN DO IT!!

I suggest you ask your doctor to do some research on the diet...everyone is a skeptic when they don't know about something. If they would just educate themselves about it she might feel differently.

CarlaCarla I think you are very normal, I had days when all I wanted to do was put on my old comfy clothing and just stay there. The fortunate thing I have a great friend that said I looked like a bag lady and gave me clothing from sizes 14 to 5. It became exciting again and I cleaned out my closet took everything to good will, you will love this it just makes you realize what a complishment it is. I still have days when I still see me as the old me, and then there are days like today I wearing size 12 pants (that are getting too big) and a tight longsleeved t-shirt that I love cause it has the oilers on it... now that also was a little issue as the guys were looking at my oiler logo and commenting... on the oilers but I could see them on my chest... so that was interesting to experience again... kind of want to say YOHOO my eyes are about 1/2 foot higher??? When I hit this last plateau of mine I kind of felt the same way as you too but you just have to suck it up and move on... I did and I am losing again. Try different things with the diet, I keep going back to the recipes to try something new... that helps a lot.

Ditto about the coffee!! LOL!! LOVE that smell...the taste...not so much!!! I think I'm gonna try your idea tho...sounds like a yummy treat for sure!! Are those Keurig coffee flavors that you purchase? And what flavor syrup do you use? Thx!!:carrot: I bought the coffees at Walmart and ground them there. Also have a big bag of raspberry chocolate Second cup coffee. I have english toffee, and caramel, peanut butter and peach right now for syrups.. what I did on the weekend is used my coffee as the water for a chocolate pudding, with ice and caramel syrup through it in my magic bullet and had a thick iced cap for breakfast... it is really good that way. I also have splenda flavored singles for coffee, french vanilla. Enjoy... I also use extracts and had a peppermint one the other day.

I am SO proud of myself!
two days ago, I really felt down. I was losing weight so slow, and I felt like this diet doesn't work for people who have a smaller amount of weight to lose.
And the Body Fat % charts all told me that I was OBESE. (32% or higher) and it just doesn't seem right...but...I was just in an overall foul mood. I was even going to post this big feel sorry for me post.
But then...I went in for my weigh in...(not even expecting 2 lb loss, being as I weigh myself every day and had been at 147 for 4 DAYS) and lo and behold...I had lost 3.4 lbs, and 1% body fat!
So I guess the moral of the story for me is....I'm going to try to not weigh all week, cuz it just messes with my mind. And the diet DOES work! You just have to be patient...oh and also, for me I find I lose weight one week and inches another...so next week i'm not going to be so hung up on losing weight, but definitely inches, cuz those are what are noticed!

I agree with niknak, talk to your doctor VERY SOON and ask her to check the diet out. I know you can have problems with kidney stones, etc. because of the high protein content on this diet. BUT, if you drink TONS of water you should not have a problem.
You do what you need to do but do not jeopardize your health. You need to talk to the doctor.

WI yesterday, -3.2 lbs! That makes up to my two weeks of gains and then some.

My husband and I decided to go to Vegas for our 15th anniversary next month. I am really excited as we have never went anywhere like this before. We have only spent one night away with out the kids, and I think that was about 9 or 10 years ago.

Have a great weekend everyone!

THANKS!I shop a couple of times a week for veg. I have in my fridge most always... cilantro (I buy about 4 bunches every time as I make a pesto type sauce I use for just about every meat I cook.) zucchini, kale, cauliflower, peppers. Lettuce and cucumbers and onions. And now I add Kohlrabi when I can find it. I make Fries out of kohlrabi with a little bbq spice (mix chili powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and a little splenda)... I also use this when I make kale chips. I also suggest you might try celery root, you peel it cut it up and boil it, then you puree it and it might be the creamyness you are missing. I have also made rice out of my cauliflower. and I love roasting all these veg together. I have also tried daikon chips and radish chips you really have to play to see what tastes good for you... Hope that helps.

I am SO proud of myself!

Veggies, imitation flavours, spices...anything! THANKS!

I never had veggies in my house before doing IP and had a very small list if what I liked. I learned to defiantly season veggies they are so much better. ROASTING veggies has changed my life. I would buy 1-2 cauliflowers, 4-5 lg bunches of broccoli, 1 red pepper, 2 fennels, 12 brussels sprouts, 2 tomatoes, 2 yellow squash, 1 zucchini
clean and cut up all veggies preheat oven to 375
I do one whole sheet pan of broccoli, mix w/ a slight bit of extra virgin olive oil and season well, onion powder, pepper, sea salt and whatever other seasonings you like bake for 10-12 minutes mix up and bake for another 10 minutes.
next i do an entire sheet pan of cauliflower the same as the broccoli, but this I cook a bit longer 12-14 minutes then toss around and bake another 13 minutes.
for the softer veggies i season the same way but cook for less time because they can get mushy if you overcook.
never liked brussel sprouts till I tried them like this they are delish, you can cook these for the same time as broccoli
As for the asparagus I sauté in a hot pan w/a bit of extra virgin olive oil sea salt, pepper and onion powder till nice and tender keep an eye on these and keep moving them around in the pan, I like them to be a bit al dante.
Yellow squash and zucchini are phenomenal on the grill, add you seasonings too and EVOO.

Now I know it seems like a lot but I do this 2 times a week eat hot from oven first night then store in fridge and eat roasted veggies or roasted veggie salads for the week. Some times I just re heat the squash and zucchini and eat on a plate.
The asparagus I munch on straight from the fridge.
1 roasted red pepper is also good chopped up on my salads for a few days.

I also use the roasted broccoli and cauliflower in the leek and chicken soups really yummy.

sometimes I just blanch my broccoli quickly in hot h2o, give nice color and better texture then you can add to chicken broth w/garlic and basil for a snack. I also use the blanched broccoli in my salads.

It defiantly helps to be prepared and not caught off guard, then its super easy to fix up salads and veggies for the next couple of days w/o worry.

Hope this helps you good luck to you!

Survived FIL's 60th b-day party last night. I was expecting to have to pay big $ for a tiny plate of lettuce. However, I ended up eating a tasty buffalo burger with pickles sans bun. YUM-O. For those of you not familiar with buffalo/bison meat, it's much leaner than beef.

I like the bbq sauce too went to the store and they had so many new things I forgot to buy the bbq sauce... sigh.

I chill 10oz. coffee overnight then in the am I mix the coffee with a packet of chocolate drink, I use immersion blender so i don't get clumps. Add to ice its delish.

Carla

You're not a downer. and how beautiful that you can envision your feelings so clearly. I'm thinking there's been a point or will be a point of doubt/fear for all of us. I'm encouraged for myself that you've said it out loud. I could recommend a glass of water but somehow see myself wearing it.
Better and Better.

Hello all of the Great People on this site, Hope everyone is staying OP and has had an awesome week! Today is my BIG day....Graduating from College!!...its been a LONG 2 years but well worth it. I haven't seen my class mates in over 2 months because I finished before everyone else. I am super excited to see everyone and to see if they notice a difference in me. I had my caramel bar for breakfast this morning so I am ready for my day! My family is coming into town should be here in a few hours. Everyone have a GREAT day!!!!

Congrats! Enjoy your day! :yay:

I love my IP packets and saw someone say the New Lifestyle packets are exactly the same. I went to the site and they have an introductory special for 19.99 for a sampler of packets. I'm not giving up IP and my coach but would like to have a little cushion of extra packets around. Has anyone done this New Lifestyle special at all?

:hug:Carla, I think we all have that fear of losing weight. It may be rooted in different issues for each one of us, but we all bump into it during the process. I have huge fear of gaining back and of hating how my body looks when I'm done. Not that I loved it when i was heavy, but I didn't have to feel like I'd put in a bunch of work for a result that still didn't please me. Heck, i deal with those thoughts daily.

You know what's lurking there and you're talking about it. You'll pull through it and we'll be here with you.

Happy Friday! I'm loving my Fridays off. I went shopping today and bought a few things to get me through the next few weeks/months/however long it takes. I needed seomthing to wear to a wedding shower tomorrow, so I picked uo some new capris and a couple of tops. The pants were a 12- which is a size I haven't worn in at least 15 years. They are a bit snug, but not obscene  and they'll fit for a while.

Yesterday I called the Dr's office for the results of my lab work. At my last physical, my Dr was threatening to put me on cholesterol meds because high cholesterol runs in the family and my total was 5.8. 6.0 is when she starts pushing for meds. This year my total choesterol is 4.39 (169 with the U.S. measure). I was so thrilled.

So, I got new clothes and a healthier body. Really, you can't beat that :D

FEELING LIKE I CHEATED...but didn't! Looks like hardly anyone is online....hmmmm, I am married, two kids, this is Friday night excitement. Anyway, just had a 6 oz burger, grilled (added a McKormic spice pack that comes with the little tubs measured out- NO sugar added to them- 6 spice combo, it was Mexican Cassarole), grilled portabella mushrooms w/seasalt, chopped garlic, spray butter, and a cucumber. OMG...HEAVEN...red meat, did not have to "choke" anything down, was licking the plate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Red Meat intake vs. other meats. Okay, someone was talking about this the other night, has anyone noticed that weight loss slows if you eat more red meat than the poultry or fish? I asked my coach today and she just said that the red meat takes longer to digest. I LOVE readmeat and don't like eating the others, it was nice to enjoy a meal tonight.

I generally eat a lot of roasted veggies, and I forgot on my list turnips, I have turnip fries as well. I buy a lot of different spice mixes and try them out. I buy la club seasonings. Is diet rite pop and the sparkling waters with splenda limited because of the splenda in them, as in we have to count each drink as a couple carbs?? or is there more to the fizz... will it stall weight loss?..

Yes, I noticed that the weeks I eat more chicken and fish rather than beef, I lose more but not enough for me to quit eating beef pretty regularly.I too have found that I am a beef lover and it is what I crave for protein on this diet. I am on phase 2 so have meat for lunch and supper and I generally have beef at least once a day. It is worth it for me to have a little slower weight loss. I am still losing weight and do not mind eating this way for longer to eat what works and satisfies me.:smug:

I guess you can get fatty liver from rapid weight loss. She said I should just try to eat healthier but I love this diet and have been so successful. So I'm torn. Do I follow Drs instructions or continue on :(

Since the closest thing I am to being a doctor is having a nephew who is one, I'm likely not qualified to comment, but I will tell you about my husband. As a liver cancer survivor, he goes for tests on a regular basis. Since he's stared IP, he's lost about 30 pounds. At his last visit, they were amazed at the weight loss (and very concerned, until he told them it was "on purpose") and did his blood work.

This is the first time since diagnosis in 2002 that the "fatty liver" results were lower than usual as were his previously high cholesteral levels. Is it possible you had "fatty liver" before and it wasn't diagnosed? I would think that with the limited amount of fat on this protocal that fatty liver would not be an issue. Maybe ask your doctor to review the diet products and see if anything you're eating would cause this. My guess would be no.

I am a big beef eater too! When I look at everything else I no longer eat (that list is endless) I figure if I want beef, I have it - plain and simple. With all the other good things I am doing for myself, this is a no-brainer for me.

I am in my 2nd week of "stay off the scale challenge". I am too emotional to handle the everyday ups and downs of weight fluctuation. If it goes up or doesn't go down, I am in a bad mood all day. So, last week, I really had to force myself to stay off of the scale and only weigh myself on WI day. Even though it was hard, it payed off because I was a lot less stressed about it. I have also started to go to the kitchen and drinking a big glass of water immediately upon waking. This way, even if I wanted to step on the scale, the number wouldn't be right. That has really helped ;) If you can, try and stay off that scale.

Mmmmmm....sounds delish!! I think I will have to try some of those "spice packs"!!

Just back from a 50th Wedding Anniv party....and I stayed OP!! Woot woot!! Life is good!!

Hi everyone, I've been reading a lot of posts about this diet and their foods...sure they carry the same types of foods but they are NOT at all similar to IP foods. They cost less money for a reason. Lesser quality ingredients and they have corn syrup in them.

Corn syrup, corn syrup solids and High Fructose Corn syrup are all made from corn, bottom line, are all sugar. Because there sugar there damaging to your health. Just because sugar is so damaging.
Each of these ingredients will give you cravings for more sugar, foods that list these ingredients as one of there top 4 ingredients are overeating traps. These ingredients interfere with a hormone that tells your brain that your full. Therefore its common to over eat foods that contain corn syrup.

IP pudding 18-20 grams protein, also remember these products have the best quality protein you can get on the market your body actually assimilates nearly all of the protein in IP products others might say 20grams protein but your body only assimilates 10grams or less of that protein.

New Lifestyle Diet pudding 12grams protein

IP Puddings 90-110 calories

NLD puddings 90

IP fat 0-1

NLD fat 2

IP Carbs 2-3

NLD carbs 6

IP sugar 0

NLD sugar 3

IP sodium 160mg

NLD sodium 210 mg

This is just one example from the New Lifestyle Diet website, the ingredients got worse the more products I looked at.

Keep in mind that IP is scientifically proven to work w/the products and importantly the supplements and sea salt. Then they teach you how NOT to gain the weight back other diets leave you hanging and therefore you go back to old routines and regain the weight.

Please, please just do your research if you think about changing or even using other products during your diet.

Haha! It is REALLY hard, but I found that by not getting on the scale, I am putting my faith in the program. I am 100% OP and I know that the plan will take care of itself and I do not want to stress out about it ;)

I will admit, I am now 3 days into my 2nd week and it does seem to be getting easier to fight the urge to step on the scale 1st thing in the am.

*sigh*

Week five weigh in was this morning. I did not lose a pound. I did, however, go down an inch (half inch in my waist and half in my hips). I have been um..backed up so I bought the NoviLax. I am really discouraged right now because I did really well last week (despite the stomach virus and the crackers which had the same carbs as a restricted).

Week five is brutal for a lot of people. I thik it's the body's way of saying "woah - what is going on?"... I slowed down about week 6, and my coach said at that point that she was surprised it hadn't happened sooner. Hang in there... Some weeks it's pound, some it's inches... some it's both. It will all come off in the end.

So... my brilliant "I'll use a drycleaner hanger to help me pull the zipper of my dress up all by myself" idea fell flat on its head when I realized that my fantastic new dress doesn't have a hole in the zipper pull. Sigh... After about 5 minutes, I managed to push it far enough up my back that I could reach it from above... I was late to work because of it... Happy Friday everyone!

So... meeting was barely attended by anyone I know in the office as most people are out at client sites. Someone I haven't seen for a few months did notice, and he said "have you lost weight? you look great!" so that made me feel good. I ended up wearing it out to dinner with hubby (we got a babysitter - yay!), and he said a few times that I looked really good. So, success!

I weighed myself this morning, had another pound loss and officially passed from "obese" to "overweight" which was my next mini-goal. I can't believe how fast this diet works.

Congratulations! I remember this milestone, and now I'm a few pounds away from being "normal" BMI. Can you believe it? This program really does work!!

Today is my BIG day....Graduating from College!!...its been a LONG 2 years but well worth it.

Congratulations!! Please let us know how it went.

Today begins my first weekend on IP and I'm a bit nervous. It's too hot out side to stay busy there so closets watch out. I will be a cleaning fool if I start to think of food. I have a birthday party tomorrow morning but I'm sure I can be strong. I love cake as much as the next person but I hate the way that my jeans fit MUCH more than I love that cake.

You have the right attitude. When people ask me what I miss most, I tell them "Actually, what I don't miss is that piece of my stomach that the seatbelt used to sink into." That gets 'em to be quiet every single time.

I think I understand. I am not as excited as I was in the beginning, I think the newness kinda of wears off.

I also understand being scared. I think I am scared of being done. I don't like change and going to to maintenance scares me.

And get rid of those clothes. At least put them where you won't see them.

I agree. Get rid of the clothes... Don't buy stretchy things that can let you live in denial of gaining a few pounds. I've had the same thoughts "I'm close enough." "I don't look TOO bad anymore"... Then, I snapped to it.

I am going to commit even more to get to the finish line. Then I'm going to live this program. I now have the power to control my cravings and not be a slave to food. I will NOT go back to how I was before. Having the knowledge gives me the power. It is up to me to make it work... And... this is quoted a lot, but I like it. "Don't give up what you want most for what you want now."

Many of us use alternatives- or switch to them midstream and are doing just fine. I do agree that New Lifestyle wouldn't be my first choice for products. IMO, Lindora (I've never tried), Protidiet and Protithin are a better fit with this plan. I've read that some of the Protithin products are the same as IP equivalents down to the serial numbers on the packages. But yes, it's important to be aware of the types of sweeteners in the products as they may impact the rate of weight loss. On a side note, some IP products do, in fact have sugar in them- restricted items that have chocolate coating always have some sugar.
There is a fabulous spreadsheet comparing alternatives in the "alternatives" sticky at the top of the page. I highly recommend using it to make an informed decision about alternatives.

Good morning. I had the choc pancake muffins this morning and the first bite was horrible. Not sure what I was expecting. After they they got better and better. I enjoyed eating breakfast rather than drinking it but it didn't last as long so I hope I'm not hungry way sooner.

I've had the worst charlie horses in my legs the past few nights. Last night it was one in each. OUCH!

I have some questions about phase II. You are still supposed to lose in that phase right? That is why you only have to go to 90%. Should I go 5 over 90% then for the cushion or is it Phase III where you need to have the 5 pound cushion? Also, can I still have the shake and veggies on days when I don't have time to pack a bigger lunch or just don't want meat at lunch? I can see myself doing the shake for breakfast many days on maintenance also because it's so easy for someone on the go early in the morning like me. Is that ok? I would add a piece of fruit or something at my morning break but I have never been one to have big breakfasts during the week. Can I do that? Thanks!

You need to take another potssium for the cramps. We are allowed too if we start cramping.
All of the Phases are listed on the first highlighted title on the sticky. Go down the page and you will see Jordana's pdf files for all four of the phases.
My coach gave me all 4 phases when I started.

just have to share this!

Last nite hubby and I went to an outdoor concert. His band was playing one of the sets, so while he was up on stage, I stood with his new co-workers who i have never met before. They had gone to a nearby coffee shop and picked up coffee and big slabs of choc cake. One of them polished off her cake in a matter of seconds, the other one was slowly munching away on hers...anyway, she only managed to get through half of it, then asked her friend if she wanted her left overs otherwise she was going to toss it. Her friend took it from her, then held if under my nose and said (no word of a lie) "DO YOU WANT TO BE THE GARBAGE CAN?". Seriously???? It's obvious that she has no idea who I am and how far we have come...but man, what an eyeopener. I have treated myself like a garbage can all my life, cleaning off my kids plate, my hubbies plate...eating leftovers just so i don't have to throw them out! Harsh! It was one of those moments when you might be utterly offended, but a huge brilliant blinding light bulb goes off in your head!

Back from the farmers market and have 18 cups of rhubarb stewing on the stove. ( The boyfriend and I are both on the plan)

The BF and I have different weigh in days, and he has lost 38 pounds in 8 weeks. While I have lost 22 in 11 weeks...
While I am super pumped for him and how fantastic he looks, I must admit that I am super jealous that the weight comes off so easily for him.

He cheats on the plan, not huge indiscretions, but has had the odd beer here and there, has had a few pieces of birthday cake on occassions... mean while I stick to the program like glue, and have had ONE cheat ( an ounce of vodka with water) in 12 weeks.

It is frustrating as I am a slow loser who sticks to the plan.

Our coach ( not our regular coach, but our filling in while our coach is out with a serious injury coach) never gives him crap... because he still has good numbers every week, but gave me a serious talking to about me wanting to lose weight when I had ONE cheat in the whole time I have been on the program.

I just needed to vent about how while the weight is slowly coming off for me... that I feel truly peed off today about how much easier it is for my other half... Especially when I DO ALL the meal prep for both of us!!!!

On a positive note... I stopped at the mall to try on a skirt at gap as they are having a rocking online sale and wanted to make sure I got the right size.... I fit the size 4 perfectly and the size 2 was just on the verge of being snug....

It was before my little guy was born that I could fit a 2.... WOOO HOO!!!!!!

Good Morning,

I was hoping to start on IP yesterday but decided that I should have Monday be my day since it's the day I weigh-in at WW. I have some various Protidiet packets to try and I'll place an order since I'll be using alternative products. I love reading all of the threads here regarding IP because I feel like I'm learning a lot.

I'm still eating lower carb this weekend. I'm not using Monday as an excuse to eat. I still have my weigh-in on Monday night to look forward to and I don't want to blow it.

MOvingon, I'm not telling anyone how to do the diet just to be careful and watch out what products you use...just a suggestion! Some people are also doing a high protein diet on there own this forum is to help them make the best decisions w/o the guidane of a coach. People might want to do there research on the products so that it doesn't interfere w/their weight loss. I have been involved w/IP for over 2 years now and have been pretty educated on how it works. I also have worked 18 years in a top rated health resort and have learned the ways of a healthy lifestyle.

I'm happy for you that what your doing works for your weight loss.

That's actually what my hubby said I should have done! (and that's his coworker!)...I think I was just gobsmacked, because it took me (what felt like) a full 20 seconds before I responded to her by just shaking my head.

On a similar note...has anyone noticed how grossed out they get sometimes when watching someone else eat greasy or sugary food? Not ALL foods, but I seriously can't watch anyone eat a hamburger anymore (and I used to love hamburgers!).

I find it particularily disgusting when people eat a lot of food, like way more than they should eat in a day, in one sitting. Especially if it's waaaay bad for you. And I get sad too, because those people haven't found it in themselves to lose weight and become healthy yet. Some never will :(

So, NSV today.....went out with hubby today, we left around 9:30am, did not pack a bar or anything, at 11am he stops in Racetrac...they know me by name 2-3 52 oz diet pepsi's a day (have had NONE since begining IP 8 days ago, quit cold turkey). He gets a jalapeno (my fav) and a chorizo dog to eat on the way to Publix to order my daughter's birthday cake for tomorrow (Publix buttercream icing is my ALL TIME achille's heel), we get to PUblix...I finally fina rhubarb (allbeit frozen) and he gets a double choco chip cookie sandwich stuffed w/buttercream, they had no celery root, so then we have to go to Sweetbay to look and he asks "Will you be mad at me if I get a lb of fried gizzards?" OMG....killing me, I said, "No, I have to learn to say no." It is now 1pm and I have had no lunch yet...... We get home, eat 1 cup shredded cabbage, 1 cup grilled mushrooms and put the mushrooms in IP Chicken Soup...yummmy.....

Warm Cole Slaw.....so, today at lunch, I took 1 cup chopped cabbage, added some WF Honey Mustard and about 2 Tbs water, stirred up and put in microwave for about 45 seconds, not to bad, easier than eating straight up raw. Also bought a grill vegetable griller basket and had grilled mushrooms for lunch, that is my new way to LOVE veggies and not choke them down :) put them in the IP chicken soup, yummy.. I added seasalt, garlic powder and some minced onion w/virgin olive oil and tossed before I put on grill.

A legume is a bean. NOUN:
1. A pod, such as that of a pea or bean, that splits into two valves with the seeds attached to one edge of the valves.
Such a pod or seed used as food.
2. A plant of the pea family.

We are allowed beans twice a week, only green and wax beans.
We are allowed mushrooms.

Mushrooms are not legumes. For the purpose of this diet, they are considered a vegetable, (though they are really fungi) and are part of the "select vegetables", so they are not restricted.

I cook these all the time. This is my way: I cut the turnip into pieces the size of french fries. Toss with olive oil and sea salt. Then bake on 400 until soft. About 20 min.

I actually had one incident where coworkers were eating and I got goosebumps, warm, and knots in my stomach. It hasn't happened since and was weird for me. I don't know if it was the cake they were eating or the amount of it they were all putting on their plates.

I need some prayers and some strength to be strong. My great grandma will be 100 on the 7th of August and took a turn for the worst yesterday. She's been in her own home until about 6 months ago when she went to the nursing home. I went to see her yesterday and then again this morning and she was much worse today. We are a super close family and although she's had a wonderful long life it's hard to let her go. I'm a mess!

Yummy! Today I made pudding cakes, they were yummy I brought them to my clinic for everyone to try...went over very well.

So today I started to experiment with them.
I made 1 packet of lemon pudding following the directions for pudding cake
1 packet of Strawberry pudding following the directions for pudding cake
Filled 6 wholes in the muffin pan with 1/2 lemon and 1/2 strawberry
swirled together with toothpick baked YUMMY!
separate into 2 servings one for now one for later
Tomorrow I will do the same with the chocolate pudding and butterscotch pudding

Then I'll try the same w/strawberry pudding and blueberry pudding
try chocolate pudding and banana pudding
try vanilla pudding and strawberry pudding
try vanilla pudding and chocolate pudding

Hello all!

I started today. I wasn't due to start until Monday, but after staying up until 3am reading posts, recipies and ideas I got excited.
Hoping for the best but I don't have a good track record. Atkins was the best so far because I despise vegetables and can't handle drinking water (diet coke addict). But....I'm gonna try.

I've managed to drink all my water by adding 1/2 pack stevia to 24 oz of water. So far my stomach hasn't revolted.

I drank my breakfast. The eggs do not seem at all appealing, I may exchange them.

Chilli for lunch (surprisingly good) with 2 cups of sliced cucumbers. (If I diced it could I eat more since I can squeeze it in?)

So far not hungry but having to literally run to the bathroom with all the water I'm drinking.

Going to the grocery store in a little bit for dinner stuff. I'm not a cook so this is where I will get messed up.

I'm trying to stick hard and fast to IP because I cannot afford to do this for long for financial reasons. This is expensive. My coach filled a starter bag but threw in alot of other "vitamins" that are not required. I think I'm returning them unless it's needed due to the high price. I'm taking the required ones.

I want to try the pudding cakes but it's to hot here and I don't want to heat up the house. lol Tonight will be lean hamburger on the grill with 1 slice of tomatoe and 2 c grilled zuchinni with sea salt.

The forum search feature is terrible... Use google.

For example, type this: big mac in a bowl site:3fatchicks.com
The "site:" feature tells google the site you want to search.

Good afternoon everyone!
I hope you all are having a fabulous OP weekend so far. :)
I made the most interesting lunch today. It was a sort of IP-version of orange chicken, and it was not bad at all. I found the recipe somewhere in the recipe sticky, but basically it is just: take chunks of pre-cooked chicken (I boiled mine), and coat them thoroughly in orange pancake batter. Then fry them so that the pancake batter cooks around the chicken.
I enjoyed it, it was a nice change. :) It wasn't really very much like normal orange chicken, more like chicken with a soft, sweet orange breading. If you enjoy the orange pancakes and chicken I would say you should try it.
I am also going to try this with pieces of beef and the plain crepe sometime, see if I can't replicate pigs in a blanket to some extent. I will let you know how that turns out :D. I do enjoy my experiments.

Studies are showing huge improvements in fatty liver from low carb diets...fatty liver does not come from rapid weight loses....

Good for you Josie! my hubby does this to me all the time and its not to be mean, we just love to eat! MY brother-in-law was with us for the past two nights and we had lunch at a greek/middle eastern rest. today. The gal sitting across from me had the most delicious looking piece of Tiramissu next to her plate for her dessert and I just kept reminding myself that its not that I cant have Tiramissu, its that I chose not to have Tiramissu...I am in control of what I put into my mouth and the choices I make. Princess J, I am curious, do you exercise any with the program?

I do some very infrequent yoga/pilates at my local rec center, but that is really it, and that is really more because it relaxes me than anything. I am actually planning to start walking for a half hour a day this week to see how it affects my loss.
I never really exercised much before (:o ), so I didn't want to throw too much new stuff at my body. I figure this far into the program I should really start doing something though so I have a little shape when I am done. In a few weeks I may add some light weights or more yoga. :)

I know they say don't do too much exercise on this diet, since we don't get many calories and you don't want to lose muscle or stress your heart, but I also know a few people on this thread who exercise quite a bit and have had amazing results from it. I think it just depends on your body. Have you read the exercise thread in the stickies? It has some good conversations about it.
And thanks :) Everyone is just making me feel so good today.

I have ton of ups and downs as well....

I have a question for you... on any other diet... have you seen these type of results?

While I am not reaching my goal as soon as I would like, I have never seen results like this and I keep telling myself that nothing tastes as good as success is going to feel once I am rocking that bikini on one of my winter get away trips!!!

Keep the faith... this diet works ! I hope you have a wonderful OP weekend!

Congrats on the weight lost to date!!! You are well on your way to achieving your goal!

:)Thank you for sharing with me...
I have only once before lost this much weight. It was in 2003...after my divorce. I did it on my own back then, very similar to IP though....only protein and salads...(so I found out later that it was called South beach diet...lol).
I gained all the weight back in 2009 after quiting smoking and meds that made me gain weight.... now both of these problems are WAY OUT of my system....
I do appreciate IP so very much....I see, I feel, I know the changes I'm going threw...and I know I will reach my goal.....:) :flow2:

Finally got my husband to join me on this diet. He will be doing alternative because we can barely afford for me to be on. I have to supplement 1 EAS shake a day to be able to continue but money is getting really tight. Especially with the heat and my electric bill. So I found a nutrition center that sells some alternative stuff (called balanced protein diet, also have proti-diet stuff). I think even though they have less protein and higher carbs in some of them it will still be better than the crap he normally eats. First dinner meal I'll be making him is big mac in a bowl!!

:flow2::flow2:I was hoping the same thing, but I don't think I will make it. Your losses are much better than mine. I think my faulty thyroid is to blame, I take Synthroid, but I don't think it helps a bit.

W1 -6.2 , W2 -1.6 , W3 -3.6

I have not cheated at all and have never used an extra packet, so you can see you are way ahead of me!
Do you exercise? I just walk at a medium pace for 3 miles every other day, my coach said I could keep it up, since I was doing it before I started.

:) I fallow IP to the letter, I walk every day. While in week 2, I did a big cardio session, sweating a lot. Bad idea, I ended up gaining for 3 days after that. I should start up light body building soon...so will see... but you are doing good too..... you loose an average of 3.8 lbs per week, that is pretty good. Keep it up....:) :flow2:

Hope everyone is having a good OP weekend. After taking a short break while my brother visited, I am back on board. I tried to make smart eating choices for all the times we ate out, and only gained back 2 lbs. So in some small way I count that as a NSV.

PXLKitty, you mentioned a web site where you found your "little black dress". Can you reply with the name again?

Sure! It's 6pm.com, and here is the dress I got. 6pm.com is like clearance zappos. You have to pay for shipping (including if you don't like it, you pay for shipping back). But, sometimes you can find shoes, etc (if you are lucky and they have your size) for crazy cheap.

http://www.6pm.com/nicole-miller-round-neck-sheath-dress

The price keeps bouncing around like crazy. If you find something that you like and it's a crazy good price, I suggest buying it. I got this one for $100... I tried it on about 10lbs ago, and it fit but was quite snug. Maybe time to try it on again??? Hm....

I'm a mess!

Hang in there. She knows she has had a long, happy life, and a loving family. Just spend as much time with her as you can, cherish every moment. Many prayers your way, and don't forget to say, I love you.

They are a little sweet. I've never gotten them to crisp but I'm sure its possible if you cook longer and on a higher temperature....I've never tried it in the microwave though. I like them with the WF thousand island as a dip or WF ranch mixed with Hidden Valley ranch packet.

How do you like the WF ranch with a HV packet? Do you like the WF ranch alone? I've heard so many bad things about WF ranch I've been scared to buy it. I did the WF mayo with a HV packet and it was awful! I'd love to have a ranch I like though as it's always been my go to dressing and I am tired of italian and thousand island.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I haven't heard anything this morning but I have some cousins from out of town coming to see her and they will let me know how she is. My husband planned a day at the lake and then grilling in the park to keep me busy today. He's wonderful. As much as I want to go sit with her, there's others who need to be there too and the room is just too small for all of us. When I stopped last night she was reaching and then shrieked, "I'm coming." Not a good sign. I hate to be selfish and keep her here when I know she's ready and I will cherish all the time I have had and even my own children have gotten to spend with her. That's pretty rare. I think it's harder because just last summer she was mowing her own lawn and right before she went in the home she was driving her own car. It's hard to see her slide so fast.

On a happier note, I jumped on the scale this morning. I was down 3.4 from Thursday! Not sure if it was the woosh fairy, the countless trips to the bathroom while my nerves were all a bundle, or what but I likey! Normally when I see a good loss over the weekend I stay the same the beginning of the week or even go up for a few days so I think I will try to stay off the scale for a few days. I'm only 1.2 away from the big 20! It's funny how I couldn't wait to hit 10lbs to say I'd lost double digits and I really wanted to lose 15lbs in my first month, and then now I feel it's really all no big deal until I hit 20. Anyone else have these crazy things running through their heads?

Again, thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. My family and I really appreciate it.

Ranch has always been my favorite type of dressing so i will never be able to find anything as good as the old "fattening" kinds. The WF mayo with HV is disgusting. The WF ranch with HV is tolerable. Its more ranchy.

Not sure if this helps.....if you have a Christmas Tree Shop near you they may have Walden Farm products for $3.99. It seems to be hit or miss....I went a couple weeks ago and I scored big time....purchased about 15 bottles of various products. Just got back this morning but unfortunately they hardly had anything in stock, so I'll have to go back maybe midweek. Also, Stop n Shop has 2 or 3 Dressings (in the produce section) which seem to be less expensive than our IP clinic.
My husband is also doing IP, and we also purchase the EAS at BJ's to save some money.:carrot:

I stick to a very basic IP protocol. I hate cooking, so I do what I can to minimize it. The best way to get results on IP is to follow the protocol exactly. It is hard in the beginning but it does get easier in time. The longer you stay 100% OP the easier it gets to stay OP. Once you start allowing yourself a cheat here and there, it gets much easier to justify it. I have been almost 8 full weeks OP and now I am at the point where I don't want to break my streak. :)

So for my very basic IP protocol, I stick to grilled meat (chicken or beef) and salads. I love salads and I have eaten them every day for most of my life and will most likely continue to do so. I use a ton of romaine lettuce (free) and get my 2 cups of veggies in "salad veggies" cucumber, pepper, onion, celery etc... I eat this everyday at lunch and dinner. I usually grill 2-3 days worth of protein at a time to cut down on cooking time.

Good for you for not getting sucked into "the last supper" mentality and going on a food bender this weekend. :D

So much to catch up on! These past couple of days have been extremely busy and I have just spent the last hour and a half catching up on the threads! :)

So far having another 100% OP weekend! I think that I can FINALLY say, that it is getting a little bit easier for me. Especially being around some of my favorite things and saying "no". Had a couple of really good NSV's over the weekend.

The 1st was last night at dinner. We were at the beach all day with a friend who is visiting and we went to dinner at a really great "dive" type place on the beach for dinner. Well, they make the most amazing home made potato chips there. In the past, I would have eaten at least 1/2 a basket and not thought a thing about it. Well, not that I wouldn't have thought about it because I am conscience eater, but I guess not really cared??? That is neither here nor there. The NSV comes into play because my husband and our friend ordered a basket and not only did I not eat 1, it wasn't really all that tempting! YIPPEE! A couple of weeks ago, I still wouldn't have eaten any, but it would have been REALLY HARD, and last night it was not as hard.

My 2nd NSV happened while I was shopping for my weekly salad stuff. In the past, I would walk around the food store and think to myself "my 1st cheat day in P4 is going to be EPIC! I am going to come to the store and buy anything and everything and I am going to eat all day! Ice cream, chips, candy bar- you name it. I am going to go crazy!" Well, this weekend while I was shopping, these feelings of having to have an all out food bender on my 1st cheat day have started to subside. Of course I will still have my cheat, but now I am thinking that it just might not be what I have been thinking it would be. The junk food just seems so "junky" and may not be what I remember them to be. It doesn't mean that I am not looking forward to that day, but I think I might be rethinking what it is actually going to be and mean to me.

Hey Everyone!

It's Sunday and I'm flyig high on the knowledge that I still get 2 more days off :D

I was at a bridal shower/stagette yesterday, what a rolloercoaster ride! A bunch of people kept commenting on how great I look- which is nice because I don't really see it myself. A number of others (including the bride to be) were asking me "my secret". (response is always stop eating anything that tastes good- just because it gets a laugh) Then I had to deal with the food pushers! The bride's mother- who is like a mother to me- was literally trying to shove a forkful of cake into my mouth. And she's diabetic so... not good. They had lots of allowed veggies, pickles, ham, etc to eat. I didn't get in enough water though.

In the evening we went to a pub and I did have 1 diet coke, but drank soda w/ lime the rest of the night. Then they ordered two of the biggest pizzas I have ever seen and I really wanted... just...a...bite... but I didn't cave. It is awkward sitting with 20 women who are all eating and being the only one not.
Overall, I call it a success! :D

On another note... I seem to be skipping my TOM this month...:?: I've noticed that... things aren't normal... and even though I felt PMSy for a few days it's either REALLY late- or not coming. This has never, ever happened to me. Oh- and no, I am definitely not pregnant ;) I know lots ofpeople have longer or more periods- has anyone else skipped one?

Congrats on a hugely successfull day!! As far as the period goes, Dr. Tran's book says it's not unusual for the TOM to go haywire - your body is adjusting, so no worries there! I'm past the TOM stage of life (thank God) but the hot flashes that I stopped having a couple of years ago started back up the first few months on IP. They're decreasing as time goes on.

Keytone strips show moderate levels, HOWEVER, I am starving today! Not sure why. Just drank a big glass of water and ate half of a lemon poppyseed bar. Thankfully, there isn't much in the fridge/pantry this afternoon so I can't go on a bender. If it gets too bad, I think I'll boil some eggs. Extra protein is better at these times, right?

Not one potato has passed my lips since starting IP. I have not eaten anything that is not on the P1 sheet and I have been 100% OP (ie: no cheats) for almost 8 weeks. I am not sure who is eating potatoes, but that is definitely not the IP protocol.

Outside of the first week, my losses have been fairly consistant and even the week that I traveled and did not exercise, I was still able to have a loss (this is the week I only had 0.8 loss). I stayed completely ON PLAN during my travels.

Good luck! The first week is definitely the worst and if you can make it through, it definitely gets easier and easier with each passing week. The carb withdrawal is rough, and you will be so very tempted to cheat but don't do it!!!! Once you get through the first 3 days the cravings will subside, if you cheat, you will just be adding more time of cravings. This is the best diet I have ever done and am so thankful to have found IP!

Question to Princess J.

How do you use a protein pack (orange pancake) to coat chicken (protein), aren't you doubling your protein?

I just split the portion into two and had half for lunch and half for dinner. I figured that way I am still only getting one pack and one protein for those two meals. Someone tell me if I am wrong please!
If I do it again I may just save half for the next day and count that as my protein, and as my restricted, so the rest of the packs those days would be unrestricted to be safe. :)

Hey all, hope everyone is having a great weekend!

The summer cold virus decided to stop by my house and pay me a visit:mad: I guess I cant complain, I havent been sick for an entire year since last summer's cold.

My question is:

Is homemade chicken soup going to kill my diet? My hubby took pitty on me today and boiled off some chicken thighs, used the stock from the thighs as his base, added onion, zuccini, yellow squash (the ones that look like zuccini) cabbage, and spices and honest to god it tastes amazing! I am afraid to eat it because even though I watched him make it and it doesnt contain any added fat it just tastes really rich. I am beginning to become paranoid about any accidental slips as I have remained OP without any cheats or slips so far. I just want the scale to be kind on Tuesday morning...thoughts?

Everything other than the onions sounds on plan and I doubt that a little of those will hurt- we are only supposed to eat them raw thou.

I'm gearing up to go through my closet and purge stuff that is too large. It's a little scary, I have to admit. Husband is all for it and very encouraging. I think I'll consign some and donate the rest, once I get the nerve to do it.

Jenny, the Protocol does not called for only grilled meat does it? I have felt guilty eating grilled veggies, mostly raw my first week.... I k now grilled are okay.... Horray on the NSV......btw,

Had a wonderful day at the lake with my family and then we went and grilled in the park. I was on cloud 9 because I was 1.2lbs away from hitting 20lbs this morning and I was feeling good. Until my sister in law took pictures and I saw what I actually look like. Holy cats cameras are evil! My mood totally changed and I kept wondering how awful I looked 20 pounds ago. What a wake up call!

Thanks again for those keeping my grandma in their thoughts. No change today. Still sleeping and unresponsive.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I have a sister in law that is supposed to be starting with alternatives like me in the morning. I'm not sure if she will or not and I'm not pushing so I will wait and get updates from her.

Good luck to everyone on another week totally OP!
