Hi all,

So no matter w hat I eat for breakfast I generally do not perk up till I have a nice green veggie salad for lunch... The vitamins and such in the salad do wonders!

I've tried putting spinach in the eggs, that doesn't help.

V8 doesn't either.

Does anyone know what might "perk" me up the way my greens do for lunch?

And yes, I do drink coffee!

Eat greens for breakfast?

Thinking outside the box here but if they help perk you, you should eat it for breakfast!

What she said :) A big green salad and your eggs. Or maybe even take those yummy veggies and juice em if you dont like the idea of eating them with your eggs???

i find that a smoothie is one way to really perk me up and get my nutrients in the morning - my favorite is coconut water (or regular water), tart cherry juice (it isn't strictly on plan, but it helps with my muscular recovery so I include it on days that I am lifting and only use 2 T - 1/4 c.), kale (i large handful), 1/2 c. frozen berries, 1/2 frozen banana, 1 lemon - juiced, 1 slice of ginger - peeled.

throw it all into the blender and blend until smooth. tons of antioxidants to get your day started! i find that on days that i don't start my day with a green smoothie, i need coffee or something around 10.

For the first time today I made a green smoothie. It does sound weird, but it really doesn't taste like vegetable juice. It has more of a "fresh" taste I guess is how I'd describe it. I used: one cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1/4 c lf cottage cheese (i would have used more but I ran out!), 1T nat peanut butter, 1T unsweetened cocoa, 1/2 frozen banana, large handful fresh baby spinach, 2 ice cubes, and a squeeze of light agave nectar. Blend until smooth. It's really good and filling and full of protein, vitamins, etc, just like zeff said. Play around with the ingredients to find a combo you like!

I'm a big fan of beans for breakfast. Great combo of protein, fiber and carbs.
