I continue to find it difficult to concentrate on baseball out on the field.

For example, today the news is that one Frank McCourt will not be allowed to leverage a team called Los Angeles Dodgers to pay out to attorneys, his ex (or soon to be ex) wife, and himself by selling the future of his team to a hedge fund.

What's the purpose of owning a Major League Baseball team if you can't bleed it to near death on occasion? Why bother being rich if you can't flaunt it?

BIG BIRD you have a very good shortstop, offensive and defensive, if he can shake off those injuries he has had in recent years. When he was hurt earlier this year he talked of retirement...I hope he has several good years ahead for your birds.

OK, there's been an agreement; here's the latest:

Frank McCourt gets the 9 Dodgers in the starting lineup.

Jamie McCourt gets the 9 homes from their suite of homes.

Now Frank is free to decide what to do with his Dodgers (with the minor constraint that Major League Baseball doesn't want that - whatever that is). And Jamie can choose whatever color curtains she wants.

And I know right where you're coming from...they were toast..but they continued to play and had the fortunate collapse of the Braves.

My Dodgers were at the same point of 10 or 10 1/2 back as your Birds...they went toe to toe with the Cards down the stretch too...I think maybe 1 more loss....but we still finished 10 back or so...the Snakes didn't collapse.

So many times I have seen teams come back from for sure wins to lose and vice versa in all sports. Realistically it wasn't going to happen....you feel foolish even thinking that they could be there in the end...

It usually doesn't when the well is that deep and drying up...

Can the Dodgers really be worth One Billion US Dollars???

[I'm in for $100. If a few of you join me, we can be the new owners - with Gary as General Manager, of course.]

BILL todays billion must be the "new" 500 million!

I think the clown paid 421 million of play money so that would be a nice profit...especially since he stole $$$$ from the TEAM for personal use....

allegedly.....:dizzy:

I would gladly GM tomorrow for a hamburger today! :)

I will be amazed if anyone picks him up, unless he will play for free!

It just doesn't stop with 'dem Dodgers.

One Joe Torre is quitting his day job to join a cabal that will attempt to buy the team.

Perhaps they plan to use Manny's money, LOL.

So who gets Torre's old job? Maybe LaRussa?

With due appologies for those who think this isn't the Manny thread, I can't help but notice that he's now being touted to stay in the California area - with the Oakland A's.

Aren't they one of Gary's teams?

BILL didn't we agree, after the last steroid fiasco, to color MANNY being MANny as noted?

I am not an A's fan...but not a hater of them either...my heart is with the ANGELS of course....

we do have ALBERT of course....

sorry SANDRA...hug

I will say I paid a little attention to them the last few years as Trevor Cahill, from my alma mater, was pitching for them....however he is now a SNAKE and of no use to me!!

Speaking of "SNAKES" - how does it come to pass that this Mr. McCourt is gonna get 2 BILLION dollars for the Dodgers?

Dose this mean that in California crime indeed does pay?

Doesn't seem fair does it Bill?.....

I am amazed!

but at the same time so totally excited we have a possible future!

$$$ does NOT buy championships but it sure gives teams a fighting chance....

It's almost the end of spring training and I'm still sore over how the World Series ended.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the third times a charm. (Go Rangers!! :D)
