Default Just to say hi

I'm new to this site and I have to say I'm very glad I found it. I've been dieting for about a year now and started at 280 lbs, being the heaviest I've ever been. I'm now 220 and very proud of that fact but I have to admit I still find dieting hard.

It's a rather vicious cycle to be honest. I get off my diet at some point because I simply give in. At that point I fall into a bit of depression which simply causes me to eat worse. Sadly, I've fallen into that the last few weeks and having a hard time pulling myself out. But I find myself feeling a renewed hope after finding this site. It really helps reading others' stories of success and even hardships. Even though I always knew it, it does make realizing I'm not alone more real.

As of now, I don't exercise nearly as much as I need to but I'm going to change that and drink more water (yuck, I don't like water) but most importantly, I'm going to get back on track with my weight loss. I've lost 60 lbs thus far, there's no reason I can't lose even more.

Can't wait to share and hear more!

P.S. I'm 26.

Welcome to 3FC =)

Congratulations on the progress you've made! That's amazing!

We all slip up from time to time. This isn't a diet, after all. It's real life, and occasionally that means we eat something we didn't want to or we skip a workout. It happens. We have to accept that it happens, and move on.

There is no "on the diet" or "off the diet". We're just making choices. The important thing is that most of the choices we're making are better for ourselves. The few choices we do make that aren't as good should not make us feel guilty. We realize we could've done better, then we move on. The very next meal. The very next work out. We do better for ourselves.

We don't have to be perfect. Just persistent.

Sounds like you have some good goals =) Keep at it to end the vicious cycle!

Can't wait to see you around the boards!

Hey Sibi,

I'm in a very similar position and know how difficult it can be getting back on the wagon and making the sensible choices and decisions is easier said than done! I think that Lovely has hit the nail on the head with "persistence" it really is what matters.

The best thing about this site is that you are never alone, there are always people going through similar things or people who just offer support!

Good luck!

If you don't like water, you shouldn't force yourself to drink it plain. It will just become more of a burden every time you force it down your throat lol. Have you tried water with lemon or lime? Maybe even crystal light or something to that affect?
