Hi everyone! I haven't been on in the last couple of days. I have been out of control the last couple of days. I WILL BE BACK on track tomorrow. My uncle called me Saturday to let my mother and I know that my grandmother died. Rather than saying much I tend to eat my feelings away.

Anyway, tomorrow is a new day and I will do better. Thanks for being here.

Good Monday Morning Everyone! :D

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!!

Nothing exciting to talk about on my end, still sick, that's about as exciting as I have been for the past week.

TODAY IS MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY and here's my contribution:

ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT

In an instant your attitude can change, when you decide to change it. It requires no money, no technical skill or knowledge, no preparation, no physical strength. You don't need anyone else's consent or assistance. It is free and easy and quickly accomplished.
When your attitude is holding you back, when it is making you miserable, when it is working against your efforts, change it. Just change it. Realize that a positive perspective will add value to any situation, and it costs you nothing. In fact, it pays to be positive. You can then clearly see opportunity, and you can see how to capitalize on it. You'll engender the support, respect and admiration of others. You'll be getting things done rather than worrying about how things are.

Your attitude is one of the most powerful tools available to you. You can control and direct it, and it can change the world for you. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by being positive right now, no matter what is going on. Take a moment to inject yourself with a winning attitude. It will steadily lead you to a winning reality.

-- Ralph Marston

Good Morning everyone! Well I have today off because it is President's Day! Back to work tomorrow. It will be good for me I'm sure.

CHERI~ My prayers are with you and your family. I know exactly what you are going through. God Bless You~

I went to Anderson's yesterday and they carry 70% Chocolate. Not bad! I won't keep too much of it around. I figure I'll only need it once a month or so. They do carry the sweet potato chips. I didn't purchase them too expensive. Maybe at a later time.

Well DH and I have some shopping to do so I'll check in later.

Happy Monday to everyone..

Good Morning Wonderful Losers!!!

I'm wide awake on a holiday, at 5 a.m. YUCK!! Deb told me to go back to bed, and I just might do that.

I tried a new recipe yesterday, for Rice Flour Cookies. YUMMY! I'm going to post it today. It makes 24 cookies, with 49 calories each.

Off to try to find some motivation to share.

Good morning all...
So glad to have a day off! Hubby has the day off also :)

I had a hellish day yesterday...although if I put it in perspective, it wasn't so bad. It involved too much driving and bickering. ANYWAY..i was forced to eat white bread. We were supposed to stop and eat but my aunt insisted we eat at her house when we got there. She had beef noodle soup with carrots!!! (I just ate the broth), Sloppy Joes (which I don't like), and pizza made with one of those premade crusts. I had to have a slice b/c I was STARVING!!!! This contributed to my pissy mood. I put it all behind me and I'm feeling a bit better today.

The AOL instant message program is pretty cool. I'll have to limit myself or I'll be chatting the night away!!

Cathy and Cheri...so sorry to hear of the death of your respective grandparents. I know its difficult. On one hand you know they have lived a long life and if they were sick you don't want them to suffer but on the other hand it breaks your heart. It gets better with time, but life is never quite the same.

DEB...still sick?? It can't last much longer. Hope you feel better soon. At least you were able to enjoy the family get together. Those cholesterol numbers sound good! I should have mine checked but I don't really want to know as it was high about five years ago....I will make an appointment though. Esp. since I've been doing SB.

JOY....what a wonderful idea! I used to have the Master Cook program. THat is a great way to figure out the nutrional info. Thanks for volunteering! How's that wrist feeling?

MELF...are you feeling any better? On days when I feel depressed and sorry for myself I usually just let myself wallow in it for awhile...that's part of life!! I know things will turn around soon. Just like I know the sun comes up no matter what!!

ELLIE...how did you weekend go with Coleman's birthday and the guests?? Since I had my near cookie breakdown, I am afraid to bake anything! I have to get the carob chips so I can try your cookies.

QUILTER...hiya! Did you tell your DH how much we had in common??!! :) I put you on my AOL list. Has your friend gotten anymore news regarding her cancer? It will be a long journey but research shows that ppl with a positive attitude and good support system do better. Easier said (the attitude part) than done. Cancer used to equal death, but it is NOT like that anymore, thank goodness. It still stinks. Give your friend lots of hugs :)

amseraphim...going off the wagon is bound to happen..we're human. Doesn't it feel good to get back to SB though? I think I might start carrying emergency legal food with me when I go somewhere so I'm not forced to eat something I shouldn't. I'm going crazy!

gloryb...nice to see you again!

To anyone I missed...hello hello hello. I'm off to get on the treadmill. BBL

Happy &*(^%-in Monday  everyone!

I am not in a good mood! I know 5 people who are in tropical climates, but I am here, having to take the kids to hockey and deal with the cold. DH can never get off February break - he is in television and February is the most important rating period of the year, so no one is cut loose. I hate that!

Also - girly question here...Anyone who is taking BCP - do you ever have breakthrough bleeding? I'm on week 3 of my pack and have never had this before, spotting yesterday, today and cramping? That's never happened before, and I wonder if it is impacting...

MY WEIGHT!! It seems to be up a pound or two. I have been soooo gooooood except that Friday Sweet Potato Chip binge (gues they're off the list....). Or would that have shown up now? Help! Someone make me feel better - I've been doing so well and the scale has been going DOWN - this AM it was up and I don't do well with that... :(

HELP!

Sorry, not your typical cheery Viv today... http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//crying.gif

I kept up with ALL the posts over the weekend but just can't get the time TO post....

But...

Cheri and Cathy - I am so sorry about your grandparents. I never knew my Dad's (Holocaust), and my mom's died when I was just 12. So you are so fortunate to have known them when you are adults. I am sure you both appreciated them so much....

Debbie - Carob is totally Okay? Also, tried to look in food info boards, etc., re: agave nectar, which I found. I was trying to figure out the conversion when subsitituting for honey? Can ya point me in the right direction please! Wow - 135! That is awesome. It's interesting watching your weight go down, down down down....hopefully I'm right behind ya!

Ashley - It was nice chattin' with ya last nite. I have to be careful with IM too, as I went to bed WAY too late and am paying for it now! ;)

Everyone else - I am so grateful for this wonderful support. Hope to cheer up a bit...just don't know how long it will take!

Ashley and I discussed this last nite, we both leaned towards the same conclusion but I need it sanctioned please... :D

Which types of bagel are legal? Pumpernickel and rye? Whole grain (isn';t there sugar in those?). These with a bit of cream cheese are such a great on the run breakfast, would really help me out in Disney!

Let me know and thanks!

Thanks for all the input on my cookbook idea! It will take some time, but I hope to be able to get it together. It will be very simple, but have our favorite recipes. I'm going to go through all the recipe boards, and try some of them, and if there are any that anyone wants in the book in particular, just let me know which board it's on.

Deb... I did get back to sleep this a.m., for 3 hours. I also called my doctor .... did you??? LOL!

Regarding my wrist.... yesterday I noticed that my thumb and index finger had gone to sleep. And they didn't wake up. I called the ER, and they told me to either come in or wait till my doctor was available. Figured I'd save the ER fee (podunk ER). So I called my doctor and left a message on his answering machine. He called me back a couple hours later, and told me to take the splint off (there goes a pound or two), and loosen the bandages, and give it 24 hours. I haven't noticed much difference, but I'll give it some more time!!!! It does hurt more without the splint support, but it will be nice to wash my hair!!!!

Still haven't posted that Rice Cookie Recipe.... but I will.... we made gravy with brown rice flour today..... DON'T.... tasted okay, just had a gritty texture.... and the dog didn't like it. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//insane.gif

Off to finish a game of Scrabble.

HI FRIENDS!!!!

Hope everybody’s Monday has been super. Mine was okay. My boss felt bad that she had made us come in on a holiday, so we took a really long shopping break (about 2 1/2 hours). That was sweet. We actually went to Wild Oats (my first trip). I found the CHOCOLOVE 70% chocolate bar. I’m so excited!!! But threw it in the freezer as soon as I got home. I’m going to make it so I have to PLAN to eat it and not do it in the heat of the moment. Also bought some carob peanut butter out of the grinder machine. Even though it looks ABSOLUTELY disgusting, it tastes pretty good. I just take a little on the tip of my spoon and savor every morsel.

ORANGE---I STILL cannot find the Wiley’s. Checked a bigger Krogers this weekend and WO today and everybody keeps looking at me like I’ve got three heads. Would you mind picking up a couple of different packets for me and I can get them from you in March???? If you want I’ll send you the $$$ now. Just let me know how much they are. I told the Kroger produce guy that the Atlanta Krogers has them. He said that if I could bring in an empty container, he’d see about ordering them. I can’t understand that Krogers is based in Cincinnati, but we don’t get all the good stuff here. Weird. Anyways, I just had to vent to you and then beg for your kindness. LOL!

CHERI & CATHY---So sorry to hear about your grandmother’s passing. Mine died in 1985 and I still miss her terribly. My prayers are with you and your family.

DEB---Did you think I was being a smart *** when I asked if you thought Sharon’s presence was a help? I sure hope you didn’t. Because that’s definitely NOT where I was going. Please accept my apology if my thoughts came out wrong. I wish you’d start to feel better soon. This seems to be dragging on. Did you make an appt today? I’m not for taking antibiotics all the time, but in a case like this, honey, you need some. Is your fever still hanging around???

JOY---Your cookies sound WONDERFUL!!! Sorry to hear about the numbness. That must be really irritating. I have this thing where I wake up inthe middle of the night because my hand has fallen asleep. At least if I shake it, it goes away, but yours is hanging around. Not a pleasant feeling. I’m hoping you get some sweet relief from it real soon.

OVERCOME---Thanks so much for your comforting words about cancer. You are so right. It did used to be a death sentence, but now there is so much that can be done. I haven’t talked to her today. May call after I finish here. She’s such a great person with a full and vital life. It’s going to be so hard for her to be out of commission for a while during that first series of chemo. But we don’t even know if it’s spread anywhere (into the lymph nodes or centenal nodes) yet. So I’m not sure when that procedure will be.
Thanks again. You’re a doll for thinking of her and also for comforting me.

VIV---Hang in there, girl! I’m so glad you get on and tell us when you are in a bad mood. Winter can be very depressing. I can relate to that one in a BIG way. If you’re having breakthrough bleeding, you should call your doctor. (Are you sure you didn’t miss a pill? I take mine right before bed and I’ve missed a few times and then had some spotting.) Did you just start taking a new kind of BCP? That was another reason I had some bleeding before . . . until I found the right one that worked for me. I sure hope you have a better day tomorrow. Remember . . . there has to be somebody further north than you who’s feet are ten times as cold as yours. Smile to yourself when you think about that poor person and how you are sitting in a better position than him. (Does this sound like a load of bull??? Part of me thinks “yes”, but then the other part thinks it’s a weak attempt to make you smile or laugh.) I’m trying to think of a funny story, but nothing is popping into mind. Do you watch Will & Grace? I think the two side-kicks are pretty funny. Can you tell I’m grasping at straws to think of something funny. I think I’m getting pretty pathetic, so I’ll just stop for now and say I’m thinking about you and trying to send you some smiles telepathically. Are they making it?????

I feel very fat and bloated today. TOM is just around the corner. I sure hope that’s it. I’m fearing the WIW. Today’s eating was somewhat better. I’ve decided that I MUST start writing everything down. I had done that for so many months in Weight Watchers and was so sick of doing it. But I realize that I am not keeping track very well. So I decided today to start keeping record and eating the correct portion size.

I have a small thought for Motivational Monday. I’m re-reading The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. He says that there are four agreements to live our lives by in order to achieve personal freedom. In a nutshell they are: 1. Be impeccable with your word--meaning always speak the truth and always speak from love. 2. Never take anything personally--this part was VERY eye-opening for me. 3. Never make any assumptions--Making an assumption comes from poor communication and we live like our assumption is the truth when all it really is is something we’ve created in our very busy minds. 4. Always do your best--this is the one that I can really key in on about losing weight. He says that if we ALWAYS do our best then we do not need to feel guilty or judge ourselves. He says that our best is different from day to day. If we’re sick, our best won’t be what it would be on a totally healthy day. If we are super busy and pulled in 8 million directions, our best will be different. Here’s a great quote “Doing your best, you are going to live your life intensely. You are going to be productive, you are going to be good to yourself, because you will be giving yourself to your family, to your commuity, to everything. But it is the action that is going to make you feel intensely happy. When you always do your best, you take action. Doing your best is taking the action because you love it, not because you’re expecting a reward. Most people do exactly the opposite: They only take action when they expect a reward, and they don’t enjoy the action. And that’s the reason they don’t do their best.” Kim talking now . . . For me, this is why I’m faltering with this wonderful way of eating. I am focusing every single day on the reward (getting to goal) when it would be better for me to focus on the act of getting myself happy & healthy. Sometimes I feel like each day is a substitute teacher and I’m going to try and get by with as much stuff as possible and see what the scales say. I am NOT focusing or loving the action. I’m just loving the reward. And for me, I don’t think there will be a reward unless I fall in love with the action. Hope this makes sense and isn’t too heavy or boring or “out there.” It’s a great book!

Hope all is well with everyone. Talk to you later.
Kim

Hi Everyone...

Sorry I haven't been on in a while. As you know I was sick most of last week and am still feeling very puny. We had a horrible storm here on Friday and it did significant damage. Some of you may not know but I work for the Red Cross so I have been working around the clock trying to help the people whose homes were so badly damaged. Well I have to go...just wanted you to know I hadn't abandoned anyone...

Good evening all
I hope all had a great Monday...The great way to start the week is with a great day. My day went well...I feel good, I walked my 100th mile tonight. I have been walking every night but only doing 2 or 3 miles each time, so I was please to get that many miles behnd my, now I am going for 3 or 4 miles each night.
I feel like I am not doing so great with the way I am eating. I am still following SB but I have been snacking "alittle" more and more. Today I started to finish my son's fries from Mcdonald's. Had to throw them in the back seat, out of reach, so I wouldn't finish them. I think maybe I need to reread the book again. I need the reinforcement.

I am sorry to hear that some of you are still feeling blah,,,and sorry to hear about the loss some of you had in you families.

I hope all have a great weight loss week and success in all you do. Laurie

Hi everyone. It's been forever since I've checked in. I've been working a lot on my scrapbooking, and I seem to have time for either that or the computer, but not both. I tried to check in the other night, but it wasn't working for some reason.

Anyway, I'm plugging away on this WOL. Today has been HARD. That TOM is soon approaching and I feel soooooo out of control. So far, I haven't eaten anything "illegal", but oh, how I want to!! Once a month I just want to chuck it all and go for all the horrible, obnoxious white flour laden garbage!!! Hopefully I can hang in there.

That's all from rainy Northern CA. Good Tuesday to all of you.

Well its Monday! woooo hoooo. Hope everyone survived the week end. I had no work tonight because of the Holiday. My kids are returned in good condition! They had a good visit with there cousins and aunts. Hubby got spoiled by all the attention he got. We needed a break. (he better not get used to it). Talk about being off schedule. He sabbotages (?)me also and i don't like it. I did get my excersise! but my week end was a total blow out it seems like food wise! Today was a near perfect Sugar Buster day! (who is perfect!) I went to a book store and turned a woman on to the sugar buster book she said her hubby had high colesteral and was looking for something! I told her to go to the library though! We also chatted about Weight watchers. Its nice to be able to help someone even if they don't take your advise! I really stressed the food craving thing though! I don't have much time. Hope everyone is feeling better.
Cheri-hugs to you for your loss. Life is a precious thing.
Deb-I don't know the deal with the Jack daniels and the sweet potatoes! She had them layered with slices of oranges too! They where tasty! Hope you got ahold of the Dr.
Bunny-hang in there!!! that TOM can be a PAIN! Don't ya hate bein a woman?
lamap-congrats on the excersise! I got out today and yesterday for a walk felt good! Old habits die hard huh -with the frys! I think that was my slip up today with my near perfect day one fry from yucky smelly BK! Oh well gotta train those kids to eat all their junk right!
beach-sorry to hear about the storm. You seem to get all the bad weather! I though snow was bad. Hope you feel better soon!
Viv- cheer up!!!!!! I know how ya feel! Just think of Disney and how good you'll feel then!!! I am jealous!
Overcome-glad your feeling better today. A day off always helps! I know how ya feel about food and visiting. That is part of the reason i let my kids go to the inlaws for a visit with out me this week end! Not a good excuse but i never know what they will eat and i don't want to be a pain! Oh well i guess we just have to deal with it right? :D
Wish i could chat on Thursday! can't work! anyone who want to go in during the day let me know-somehow!!! have a great day tomorrow. I am going roller skating with the kids woooooo hooooo-great excersise! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif

WHY do the Girl Scouts HAVE to sell cookies? Why can't it be power tools like the commercial?! My husband ordered 2 boxes of the mint cookies, http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//love.gif before I started my new WOE. They came today. He is keeping one at the office, but one is in my freezer. Do you know that a serving is 4 cookies and there are 10 servings in a box? Each serving is 140 Cal and 10g sugar? Why can't we drop the 0's and have 14 cal and 1 sugar? Just the SMELL makes my mouth water! The ingredients say they are made with wheat flour. Doesn't that make it just a little bit legal? :( Oh, well. Maybe one a week for the next 40 weeks. LOL

Just got home from work and need to get some sleep, so don't have time to post individually. Sounds like several are having bummer days. Hope tomorrow is better.

Still haven't heard anything on the hypothyroidism. Did have another allergic reaction to something this weekend but no clue as to what. My lips swelled and this time I had an asthma attack at the same time.

Have a good night. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sleep.gif

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone! :D

I can't believe I didn't get on the board last night, I was slowly fading away BEFORE Everybody Loves Raymond came on last night. I couldn't stay up! I was in bed before 9:30pm, gosh, I must be getting old!!!

Sharon came down for a few hours and got me out of the house, nothing exciting, just nice to get out for a couple hours. Still not feeling 100% but a little better today. I'm planning to go up her way today, Eli is working, kids are being picked up by their Dad and I'm a free woman all day long!!! Maybe we can take in a movie, that would be fun.

CATHY, never heard of Anderson's, but what brand of chocolate did you end up getting?? I have a friend coming from the UK and I've asked her to find me some good high cocoa content chocolate to add to my stash :)

JOY, let us know when you get the cookie recipe posted, can't wait to try it! Nope, I didn't get the Dr., slap my wrists. Speaking of wrists, how is yours doing today, is the feeling coming back???

OVERCOME, I had this mental picture of you, a gun, and a piece of white bread! LOL!! I'm sure you'll be surprised if you get your chol. done, SB surely must of brought it down. Eli's is really high, 290! He's going to a study of a new drug, suppose to be better than Lipitor. Hope it helps!

BIGORANGE, which color would you like?? Trust me, it has color! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sick.gif I think it's getting better, or at least I'm hoping it is. I would rather not have to take antibiotic if I don't have to, I'll see how I do today. Try doing Cathy's AIM without the underscore, that's what I did, though I haven't seen if that works or not. So I guess a stop to Fresh Market will be on the agenda???

QUILTER, glad you were able to find the Chocolove, my store down here doesn't carry it, not sure why, as I know they have it in other states, which is where I got it. I didn't think you were being a smarty pants at all :) I don't think I'm running much of a fever, if any, today - I'll see how I feel after today and then decide if I will call the Dr. THanks for worrying about me :D

VIV, don't worry about being up, hormones do that to us-just be patient, it will go back down. I highly doubt the chips did that to you, one meal won't make you gain a pound! Unsweetened carob is fine. The agave nectar, use measure for measure in place of honey, when used in baking, lower oven 25 degrees and watch whatever you are making, sometimes bakes a little faster. You'd have to know how the bagels are made, what's in them, but I would probably say pump is better. Remember serving sizes as well, bagels these days are BIG! I have seen those letters before, interesting, huh?!?

GLORY, how are you doing? Have those cravings subsided. You said your hubby was leaving town, how long is he away for???

BEACH, seems being sick is hanging on for us both. Hope you get better quickly. Sorry to hear there's more work due to disasters for you, seems AL has gotten some nasty hits this year!

IAMAP, congrats on going that 100th mile-keep up the walking. I really miss my walking this past week, I love it!

BUNNY, glad to see you on the board, and still keeping on plan. Trust me, we all get nuts around that TOM, but it passes, as you well know. You'll get through that time with flying colors!

RHROO, glad to hear you had a great SB day. Trust me, your hubby isn't the only one who tries to get you to eat non-SB things, Eli does too. He knows I won't partake, but I guess he feels lonely when he's eating crap that he knows he shouldn't! He wants company, no way Jose!

COUNTRY, I know what you mean, the GS are all over down here selling their wares. I haven't bought a single box, and thin mints are my favorites as well. You made me laugh-listing all the info! Do what I do, have someone eat one and let them breath on your nose, as you inhale so deeply with closed eyes - it works! LOL!!!

Gotta run, time for Michael to get ready for school. I'll try to check in before I go up to see Sharon, otherwise, I'll check in with you all tonight.

Have a wonderful day!!!

Just a quickie...

Forgot it was Tuesday with yesterday being a holiday! Just wanted to remind you all that TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!! I hope the metal monster is kind to us all!!!

Oh, and nut that I am, I went out and walked this morning after 1 full week of no exercise - I had to, at least try to do it. I went 3.5 miles, it was hard, I went slow, but hey, I went - now I hope I don't get more sick than I still am.

I'm off to Broward! I'll check in with you all tonight!

Morning Everyone.....
Feeling slightly less miserable today - the temps will go into the 40s and I got one hockey practice out of the way for the week -2 to go, not including the weekend (but we're going away for a nite, so we'll miss those)....you have no idea how hard it is to tie your kid's skates with cold hands! Forget about having nice nails!!!!

Still having BCP issues so I have a call into the doctor, probably take them 4 hours to call me back. I'm bloated and irritable so you'd think it was TOM...I'm confused. Anyway, I hope the weight drops when this is over because it's bumming me out! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//crying.gif

This w/e we are going to see my inlaws for the first time in 3.5 years. Long story, basically, they misbehaved (again and again) and DH told them - that's it! So, while they haven't apologized, they have begged us to start over, so this is their first chance. We'll see. Anyway, MIL has lost 40 lbs on WW and it will be interesting to see her. She's short and quite block-shaped so I wonder what the 40 lbs lost will look like on her. Personally, I'll feel good if I'm just in the 130s....What an exciting getaway....not!

Connie - has the feeling come back in your fingers? Hope so...

Quilter - Hmmmm....I'm going to WO today and I dont' remember ever seeing carob peanut butter near the grinders - it sounds so good, I'm going to have to ask for it! One of the reasons I'm headed there is they make sushi with brown rice....I MUST have some sushi. There is sugar in the ingredients, but I know that is from the mixture they pour onto the rice to make it sushi rice....so it's not a lot. I need a fix! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//insane.gif Keep us posted on your GF - she will prevail! BTW I tried IM-ing you last nite but....you ignored me,..... http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//crying.gif Thanks for the cheerup attempt - ya did get me to laugh, but I have to admit, then I did go back to being a crabby b*tch...I liked your motivational info - focusing on the action rather than the reward....I try to keep that focus. sometimes I'm just more successful than others.

Lamap - Congrats on the 100th mile! Do you use a pedomater? I hear ya re: the fries....I always put them in the back seat...then I stop the car and go to the back seat and get them!

 DH just called me and was very annoying.....men!

Beach - the south sure does get some nasty storms.

Rhroo - You're lucky you can drop the kids with the ILs. I don't have that benefit.

Country - I fell for the GS cookies too! It would have been politically incorrect for me not to buy them. Now I just have to hide them when they get in the house, altho, honestly, I have not have the cravings I used to!

DEb - ooooohhhhh,,,, go see "Chocolat"! What a great chick flick! I cannot wait to see "Bridget Jones Diary" in April....I hope they make it a good movie, i LOOOOOOVED the books! How do you determine the cocoa content of a chocolate bar? I've never seen it on a label?

OK gals, off to work. I hope by the end of the day I;m not a raving lunatic like I have been.......

Deb: Hi! I am home from work again today with this terrible illness. I can't believe how long it stays with you! I still have not lost a pound - can't figure out why. geez, last night all I ate was beef broth and sf jello - oh well, I will try to be patient. Hope you feel better! I will e-mail those addresses today.

Orange - Hi! I am new, but I think I wrote you once before. I have the dreaded colored mucus - does that mean I need to go to the doctor? I avoid the doctor and the weigh-ins as much as possible. My doctor is really a jerk about my attempts to lose weight too. He is one of those 100mph metabolism guys and has no empathy for the rest of us. He told me SB was a waste of time, so not looking forward to seeing him unless I have to! My e-mail is ASENGEL1@aol if you get a chance to answer this! Thanks!

Everyone else: Hello, my name is Annette and I have been on SB for 2 weeks. Deb helped me realize that I was eating illegal ww pretzels the first week, so that doesn't really count. However, have not lost yet... feel great though! :)

Thanks for the support, Annette from Ormond Beach, FL - just north of Daytona

Well Good Morning Ladies :)

It's still sun shining here. those weather men never get it right. Anyway i'm so glad to have the time to get on and chatter with you girls. It's very uplifting to get to talk about a problem we all have in common. I'm still haveing trouble with those darn cravings but I can feel they are coming under control. At least when I have one I eat SF. so It's not so bad.

Joy: hope you get some positive reaction about you wrist. I have a great big lump on mine and was waiting to find out how you do with yours before I have mine removed. so keep us informed and if you continue to have problems you keep on that phone with the doctor.

Quilter: I loved your quote, I sent it to my cousin. boy are those words to live by.

Beach: I'm glad your hanging in there. please take care, I realise your job is very important and you do a lot of good for others but if you don't take care of yourself you'll be no good to anyone else. So don't overdo.

Lamap: Girl you stay away from those fries. we all know how addicting they are.

Bunny: do you have a scanner? The reason I ask is that my cousin is a big scrappbooker and she does alot of her pages one the computer she uses her scanner to make the pages and to make designes for the book. Something to think about.

annette: Hang in there Girl, you take care of yourself and the lbs will come off sooner than you think (opps I guess with us it's never soon enough) just take care. and i'm glad your on board and on track.

Viv: Did I miss something in the post? are you about to go to Disney? I just keep seeing that name. please let me in on the info.

Rhoo: Roller Skating!! man am I jealous I always loved roller Skating as a young girl and when I was a thiner adult. I really miss it. Maybe when I get my knees replaced i'll be able to do it too. Have fun for me.

Country: Sorry to hear about your allergy problem, hope they get to the bottomof it of it for you soon. that sounds very dangerous. I agree about the Girl Scott cookies. I've decided that sence we always support the Girl Scotts that I just give them the money and tell them to share a box with the people that can eat them.

You all have a good day today love ya Glory

Hey all!

I'm glad your're feeling better Deb. And I hope every one else feels better soon.

Welcome Annette. I must say the first few weeks on SB taught me to eally read labels. And boy was that an eye-opener  My DH still has to be reminded that white bread, while it may only have a couple of gs of sugar, it is not the best for us.

Oh, and Joe is looking great! he put on a pair of jeans and his gut hardly hung over at all! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif

We're slated to get an ultrasound today to see how far along I am with this baby. Some folks think it'll be September, but Joe and I think a little sooner. We'll see.

And this baby doesn't like eggs for breakfast. I had to switch over to oatmeal. And I've found I can't eat carbs at dinner or I become a monster  and then pass out. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sleep.gif

Tips? You know when you're having a really bad day and you think, What am I doing, I'll never make it? Check into the board. We're here to listne and commiserate with you. And hopefully offer some help that'll get you through the day. Studies have shown that a support group is an important part of permanent weight loss. It's been said before, but it's true. Call on the board when you need help.

I hope everyone's day goes well. Take care.

Hello Ladies!

Sorry I haven't been on, but I have been reading the posts. I can't stay long, since I am at work. Just wanted to drop in and tell you all that you are going to be cyber-aunts :) I found out yesterday that I am 5 weeks pregnant. I go to the OB on 3-13. I plan on staying on the sb woe. The only fear that I have is what to drink, besides water,...I know the artificial sweetners in diet sodas arent that good for the baby. Anyone have any suggestions?

I guess I won't be hitting that 85 weight loss by 10-20. hahahahaha

take care!

Hello all!
So nice to have a short work week this week! Don't have a lot of time. Just wanted to check in and say hi. Having fish for dinner. Yum!! (DH is cooking as I type).

VIV...have you figured out what is going on with the BCP yet? Didn't know "bridget jones" was going to be a movie. I read one of those books too. I enjoyed it! I am an AVID reader. I read on the treadmill and I could walk forever (well, not really!)

cynsea...COngratulations!!! How exciting for you!!! Looking forward to following along with your pregnancy.

THINAGAIN...I like your tip about turning to the board. I often wonder how long I would have stayed on this if there was no SB board!

JOY..how's your wrist? Better I hope! Are you sure you didn't lose the feeling in your fingers from too much clicking on the keyboard??? :) Just kidding.

COUNTRY...I wonder the same thing about those darn Girl Scouts!! Luckily it has passed around here. Cookies will be my downfall, I know it.

RHROO...sounds like you are getting in lots of exercise. You go girl!!!

BUNNY LOVER... I am with you about "plugging away". I haven't eaten anything illegal but I'm right behind you in wanting to eat something, anything!! that is a NO NO! Stay strong!!

LAMAP...100 miles is awesome!! You are an inspiration. Walking is sooo good for you.

beachfan37...Hope you start feeling better soon. You must see an awful lot of heartache working for the Red Cross. That can wear you down. I know it has its own rewards :)

Kim....wonderful wonderful words for Motivational Monday. I need to print that out. Thanks for sharing.

Everyone else...enjoy your evening!! I'll be back later. I'm getting a sore throat!!! EEEK! Better not be getting sick!!!!!

Hey Ya'll!
Just checking in to let you know that I am still alive! I took what's left of my family to Texas last week to visit with family. Hadn't seen my aunt in about 5 years. It was a nice visit, but I hadn't told her about my new WOE and what wasn't "allowable" for me to eat...the first meal was chicken and dumplings! I really didn't feel comfortable with telling her I couldn't eat what she had made, so my daughter and I were just ate sparingly. But that was just the beginning of our spiraling downfall for the week!!! Let me just say that we ate everything that we had been "missing" last week. MIRACULOUSLY I only weighed in at the top of the 4 pounds I had been struggling to get past. I was 221 yesterday morning; I just knew I would be 10 pounds heavier!

Well, we finally have a departure date set!
The movers will pack and load us on Monday, the 26th. (My Elli's 2nd birthday!) Then we will fly out the following day. I am SO ready to see my husband. We have never been apart this long before!

OH...I found some WILEY'S at Super Wal-Mart when I was in TX...in the produce section. Will have to wait 'til I get to Massachusett's to try it.

Well, Elli is demanding attention...

Hi everyone! Hope you all had wonderful days. Mine was pretty good, although my thoughts are mostly with my GF and her problems right now. (See note to VIV for latest details.) I had to teach both classes this afternoon and wasn’t up for it. And don’t you know they were all pretty good. I wouldn’t categorize any as angels, but they were definitely cooperating today. Whew! That was a nice surprise.

Somebody offered me a french fry today. Didn’t EVEN consider it. Knowing what they do inside just really turns me off of them. But I kind of laughed because I must have made a horrible face when I said “no thanks.” You should have seen her face. I think I really surprised her.

DEB---I’m so glad that you felt at least well enough to walk today. Does that mean you are feeling better or that you just had cabin fever and suffered through it? I hope you are better soon. Have you thought of anything you want from up this way? Let me know. BEcause if I can carry it, I’ll sure bring it.

VIV---I am such a dip. I walked away from my computer and left IM open. So that’s why you didn’t hear a response from me. I started watching that Abe Lincoln thing on PBS and with no commercials I was out of commission until 11. So very sorry. I would have love chatting with you. At my WO they have one container with just plain peanuts to grind and one container with peanuts and carob mixed to grind. Honestly, I’m looking at it like chocolate fudge. I sure hope there is nothing illegal in it, but it’s just those two ingredients. But all of a sudden I just thought of a question . . . is carob sweetened with something illegal? Oh dear, looks like I’m off to find that one out. Anyways, try me again on IM. Hopefully, I’ll be on many more times. Thanks for the kind words about Jackie. I talked to her at the hospital today. Yesterday they went after more breast tissue and some lymph nodes. She’ll hear back abou them in a couple of days. She said that she was VERY uncomfortable this morning. Lots of pain killers and she was still hurting. Sushi???? Never been down that road before. Is it really good????

ANNETTE---Welcome to the board. This is a wonderful group of “losers.” I hope we are able to answer your questions and give you all kinds of support as you take on this WOE. Don’t worry . . . the pounds will start to drop. Just remember to watch your portion sizes as well as contents of the foods you eat.

GLORY---Glad you enjoyed the quote. Sorry to hear that you are also burdened with a lump on the wrist. Hope it’s not painful for you now. Keep us posted on what you decide to do.

BEACH---My thoughts are with you as you serve others. Boy, what a job that must be. Does it take a lot out of your emotionally as well as physically? Hang in there. We’re all pulling for you and the folks you are helping. One more thing . . . I love your solution to the GS cookies. How smart you are!! Somehow I managed to avoid the whole GS scene this year. Can you tell we don’t have kids.

THIN---Thanks for the reminder tip. You are so right. We all need to remember to get on the board when we are feeling overwhelmed or ready to splurge or whatever.

CYNSEA---What GREAT news!!!! I’m so happy for you. You will have to talk with THINAGIN about this whole baby business. Sounds like you are right on her heels. Can’t wait to hear your first dr visit report. Hope you are feeling well and not getting those am sickies.

OVERCOME---Do you get how jealous we all are of you having dreamy DH who cooks and romances you???? Just kidding. I love how you get to post while he’s fixing dinner. Sounds like a wonderful working relationship. Glad you like the MM notes. Was worried that it was getting too long and involved. Thanks. Hey, congrats for not eating any no-no’s!!! That’s great!!! Wish I could say the same thing. Stay on the wagon, girl. It’s terrible when you fall off. Not only do you have bumps and bruises, but your waistline gets tighter. Ha!

BOB---Thanks for bringing me the Wiley’s. I’m so excited to get it. I’ve been wanting to cook kale for a week. Guess I’ll just wait till we get back. Whatever kinds you like will be fine with me. If the Bean and Pea is the best, you can just stick with that. Don’t tell me you’re getting sick too. You’d think we were all using the same toothbrush or something. Hope you feel better soon. Beef up on the echinacea and see if that shoos that old bug away. Let me know if there are any Kroger things you want. I’ll be happy to accomodate.

Well, I’ve got some other computer work to do for the office. We are having a corporate spelling bee on Monday. It’s a fund raiser for us and is usually a lot of fun. Corporations get three employees to make up a team and they compete in an old-fashion oral spelling bee. It’s been tons of work for us and we’re just about down to the wire. Trying not to panic.

Have a great day tomorrow.
Kim

I’m a little worried about WIW. Anybody else sittin’ in that spot?????

Hi y'all. I'm back from Ariz. where I had a wonderful week. I bet you can't guess what I did? NOTHING! Yep, I did nothing but hang out in the room doing some embroidery and vedging out. It was wonderful! I had such a stressful week right before we left so it was great to have no responsibilities, no phones, no mail, no nothing. I didn't even shop! I am greatly rejuvinated, though, and ready to go again. I now have just one major short term responsibility left: leading a group of 34 women in facilitating a conference/retreat in May. When that is over, I just have my ongoing responsibilities: teaching one class a week and working at the crisis preg. center. Those are easy, though. Right now I even have time to shop for wallpaper and do some other personal projects that I have been putting off.

Beach and Deb--sorry to hear about your illnesses. I know that the winter cold season, and allergy season gets in full swing now. The oak leaves are starting to fall here, and the allergy season gets pretty bad in a few weeks. Beach, the woman across the street is a volunteer for Red Cross and she often goes away to help when there is an emergency. She was gone several weeks when Andrew went through south FL.

Country, the manufacturers of cookies and other non-edibles list "wheat flour" to distinguish it from rice flour or oat flour or some other grain rather than wheat. However, it is not WHOLE wheat flour. So, sad to say, wheat flour is nother other than plain ole white flour. :(

Annette, welcome. It's nice to see another FL gal here. I live outside Orlando. Barbee lives just south of Daytona. Quilter is coming down from GA to visit and will meet up with Debelli and BigOrange in Naples in March. So you could get in on that. I'm not gonna be able to go because we are going up to Gainesville then. But opportunities come along for us to get together.

BunnyLover, Its great to see you back. How are the bunnies?

Cheri, I'm so sad to learn that you lost your grandma. My heartfelt condolences.

Well, gals. I didn't do great when I was in Ariz. Eating out every meal is not really easy. But I'm back on track now that I'm back. It's safer to stay at home. But I've got to learn how to handle real life, which includes eating out.
BTW, did anyone watch the Oprah show the last 3 weeks when she had Dr. Phil on talking about weight loss? What was the upshot of the show?

Gotta go. See you tomorrow.

QUILTER: I FORGOT ABOUT SUPER WALMART....you can get the Wileys there in the produce dept.

Evening Everyone! :D

Just got home about an hour ago and have been ready to go to bed since this afternoon. I must confess, I've been pushing myself. I had to try to stay awake http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sleep.gif when Sharon was driving today. I'm going to make this a short post, if you all don't mind, and will reply to everyone tomorrow morning.

I think the walk did me in today, that and still being sick just wore me out. I really wanted to get out of the house and thought maybe a change of scenary would do me good. I probably should of waited til I got better, but what the heck! Anyhow, we went to see DOWN TO EARTH, walked out of it, it was awful-ended up seeing SWEET NOVEMBER instead, wasn't too bad.

Anyhow, I just wanted to remind you all that TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!! lest you've forgotten!!

I'll check in with you all in the morning, my bed is calling my name!!!!!

Hi All. Still hanging by a thread. But darn it all, I was hunting in the freezer tonight for some frozen veggies hiding somewhere and found some Cadbury choco cream Easter eggs from last year!! Give me strength!

Glory: We have a scanner, but I never took the time to figure it out. But I may change my mind because it sounds like a great idea!

Overcome: Welcome to my hanging on! I'm certain we aren't alone.

Big Orange: Thanks for the welcome back. I always feel badly that I don't take the time so many do to respond to others comments. There are so many new gals since I started posting here! Wow. Isn't it great?

Gator: Thanks to you as well for the welcome back. The bunnies are fine. We have a 6 week old litter for sale, and a rabbit show this Saturday that I'm looking forward to :-)

Best of luck to all of you tomorrow on Weigh In Wednesday. I won't be hopping on the scale with that TOM so close. I'm struggling to remove my rings, so I know I'm retaining H2O. Why discourage myself?

I've never done this before, but do any of you think there is any creedence in just succuming to eating temptation, get it out of the way, and get right back on program? Just curious.

Hello everyone!

Sorry to have only been a part-time lurker lately. Tried to post the other day but couldn't get connected to the server. I have missed participating in conversations with y'all.

Down to 168 this a.m. :D , was under 167 at work Monday, but this is TOM week, so the 168 is probably more realistic.

We live in the heart of NASCAR country and everytime we turn on the TV there is something about Dale Earnhart. It is so sad, like him or not, watch racing or not. They keep showing grown men (young and old) on tv crying. The memorials that have been created at his HQ are amazing. I will be glad when the race next Sunday is over, prehaps by then some of the sadness will have lifted.

My APOLOGIES to everyone for no article on Fitness Friday, I TOTALLY forgot about it! :o I must have given my brain a vacation.

DEB - hope you are feeling better soon. Sorry to hear that you've been sick.

BOB - My dog (Dixie) tried to send Skeeter a get well card to you email address but it was returned. Perhaps I typed in the address wrong. We hope that Skeeter is doing better. I also love Fresh Market! I have to stay away from the bakery section. Which Columbus is supposed to be getting a Trader Joe's? I'm from Columbus, GA. Is that the one you were referring to?

BEACH - Saw the storms on the news. So glad that we have good folks like you working for the Red Cross. On behalf of the American public and Chicks everywhere, thank you! Get better soon!

LAMAP - Good that you are walking! Love that you've done 100 miles!

BUNNY - I love your signature statement, so true!

COUNTRY - Beware of innocent looking girls clad in green selling small boxes of poison disguised as cookies. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//smoking.gif I just have to turn my head and walk away. Keep telling yourself that you won't be tempted, you won't give in.

CHERI45 - I was sorry to hear about your grandmother. My thoughts are with you.

CATHY - I am sorry to hear about the loss of your grandparent as well.

GLORYB - glad to see that you are back on the board.

VIV - Hope you find out something from your doc soon.

Hello to everyone that I ran out of time to address. Gotta go get ready for work.

Peace,
Frog

Good morning!!!

Yesterday was crazy... back to work... IN PAIN....

and my favorite uncle is dying in Texas and I can't find decent air fares to go down there for a weekend, and can't take any time off from work....

The good news is I lost FOUR POUNDS this week.... according to Fitday I'm losing about 2.6 pounds a week which is a nice loss. If I keep this up, I'll reach my goal before my goal (150 by 12/31/01).

I haven't had a chance to read all the posts... and I'm sure by the time I do there will be more....

but I wanted to remind everyone to post their losses on the board started by Deb!!

Have a losing day!!!!

Hi EveryBuddy!

Ha - now I don't feel so bad...I see most of you have been as busy as I have & haven't taken time to post as much! Thanks for relieving my guilt! :)

I've been overwhelmed with new responsibilities at work & am feeling a bit nasty as a result, but I did have a nice loooong weekend to recover - feeling much more human now!

Happy to report that I've had an exceptional week (since Friday) - on track, on program, on points! I have to say the WW thing is really helping more than I could have imagined. It helps clarify my decisions; I can see in exact numbers that I COULD have that piece of sugary junk, but when the numbers add up, it just ain't worth it! I'd rather eat MORE than eat CANDY!

I even tucked the beautiful box of chocolates from VD into the drawer...haven't touched them! I've been within point range, even allowing myself some great rewards, since last week & don't feel particularly deprived.

Today's WIW & I'll post my results later...hope they're good ones!

Good Wednesay Morning Everyone! :D

Well, I have to admit, it's a good day on the scale for me today! :D Actually, not only did I lose 4lbs since last WIW, I finally hit a few milestones! I've hit the 60lb loss mark, I've got 5lbs to go til goal and tomorrow is my 11 month SB ANNIVERSARY! Not too shabby! I know I will go up when my TOM finally decides to show up (it's a wee bit late, no worries though, probably from being sick), plus the fact, I know that being sick has helped me get this great loss this week, but whatever way it came, even if for a brief time, I'm happy to see 134 on the scale!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif

I'm feeling about the same. I will call the doctor for a prescription today. I really hate going to his office, so crowded and the wait is nuts, plus I don't like taking antibiotics, but I think the green monster inside of me has to be eradicated already!

I confess again, I walked today - a slow walk, couldn't use my Powerbelt, no strength-trust me, my body got back at myself while walking. Lets just say the tissue wasn't quite big enough when I needed to blow my nose!

Anyhow, I am definintely taking it easy today. Going to stay at home and sort socks - exciting, huh!

VIV, what did the gyno say about the BCP and the problems you are having?? Sounds like you have an interesting weekend with the in-laws, I hope they behave themselves. I've heard CHOCOLAT was good, guess I'll have to put it on my "to-see" list. Never heard of Brigit Jones movie, who's in it?? The cocoa content should be listed somewhere on the wrapper, if it's not, don't buy it. Look for Chocolove at WO, or Lindt 70%-both will have the % on there.

ANNETTE, and official WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!!! Sorry to hear you're still not feeling well either, you've got a lot of company on this board for those not feeling well, hopefully, we'll all get better SOON! Seems your doctor is a jerk, should get a new one. My Uncle is a well known and respected Internist in W. Palm Beach and he even tells me that he recommends this type of eating plan to his patients. Even my Aunt is following a low GI WOE. Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD, so everyone can learn more about you. Try to make sure you are eating enough, this may be a reason you may NOT be losing, but it also can be your body adjusting from Atkins to SB. Many of us use the FITDAY.COM site to journal our foods, you should look into it, it's really helpful! I'm sure you'll love the friendship and support we have here on the board - anything you need, just ask, we're all happy to help! Again, WELCOME!!

GLORY, how are those cravings doing?? I'm sure you're doing great - keep up the good work!!!

THINAGIN, so this baby is already a picky eater I see! What did the ultrasound show??? How far along do they think you are now?? Let us know!!!!Your tip was great, and oh so true!!!!

CYNSEA, CONGRATULATIONS!! Two babys coming on the board! You and THINAGIN!! I think staying on this WOE is definitely smart, and will be so helpful. Who says you can't make your goal by Oct?? You'll of had the baby by then, so who knows! As for what to drink...I drink the water and once in a while, some tea, the Celestial Seasonings. You could also make homemade lemonade.

CHERI, you HAD to rub in that 55 degrees!!! I'd take it any day, it's suppose to be 82 here today! UGH! Seems summer weather has arrived!

OVERCOME, I hope you aren't getting sick!!!!!

BIGO, Eli brought you home a nice bag of coffee last night, he distinctly said, "this bags for Narda". Sharon I just ran around to a few stores, nothing too exciting, too sick for exciting things. Went to the movie, gabbed as usual. We found the Lindt 70% chocolate up her way for $1.89, just in case you want me to bring some over when we come. Let me know if there is anything you need, besides coffee!

SAS, sounds like you are busy with the move. Where will you be living?? I'm sure you are going to enjoy your new surroundings. What are you doing with your house while you are gone??

QUILTER, you have me pegged, just needed to get out and walk, didn't feel any better, that's for sure. Thanks for offering, but honestly, I can't think of a thing I need from up that way!! Ummm, the carob chips, there are different kinds, and unless you got some that were unsweetened, I'd tend to say, there is some type of organic sugar in them.

GATOR, welcome back. Glad to hear you got some rest while in Arizona, though I can't imagine going away and not doing some shopping, for me, that would be torture!!

BUNNY, toss the Cadbury's from last year out, just think how all those preservatives have blended for a whole year in your fridge!! As for your "temptation question" I personally haven't felt any strong urges of temptation, but I think if I were to have any moments like these, I wouldn't give in. They should pass, and if I do give in, it's like giving me an unlimited amount of money to spend like I want-there would be no stopping me!

FROG, we've missed your presence on the board! Glad to see you are down, how much is that since last week?? I too couldn't believe that DH died, that crash didn't look so bad compared to others I've seen. Hopefully, something good will come from it, like better safety.

JOY, sorry to hear about your Uncle, I hope he's not suffering. CONGRATS on your 4lb loss, that's wonderful!!!!

Well gals, I think I covered it all for now. I will check in with you all later. Please remember, TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY so if you have a recipe you'd like to share with the board, please post it tomorrow.

Later! :D

Morning Ladies!
I'm sitting here eating my SB muffins made with agave nectar - the ones Deb posted last week. Not bad, I subbed strawbs for bluebs - maybe a little dry, but making me happy :)

Well, actually still not happy. It's going to get COLD tonite!

Went to WO yesterday with GF and her kids - was psyched for the brown rice sushi. There is sugar in the ingredients, which I realized is part of the mixture used to season the rice, so it is a very very very tiny amount. The REAL bummer was that by the end of the day, they had very few brown rice choices left, so I got the veggie roll, which of course had a ton of CARROT in it! I poked all the carrot out.,.. but sushi with brown rice just isn't the same... :( I think I'll make some at home soon, the kids love it...

This BCP/TOM issue is annoying, so I am not posting my weight today. The doctor's office said not to worry, that it could be from my weight loss (oh, puhleeze!) - but I have bloating, crabbiness, cramps.....so I would assume that is why my weight is...not where I want it to be? Hopefully by Friday this will STOP and I will love my scale again!

My complaint about wild oats - they have so much wheat free, dairy free, fat free stuff - not enough sugar free stuff. I feel discriminated against !!! I did find unsweetened carob peanuts which are great for me - I don't care for nuts that much, so the added carob, even tho it is NOT chocolate, helps. Oh, and I did eat a nice chunk of cheese from DS's pizza - there was no protein in my sushi!

Deb - Would you please feel better already? Gosh, here we are shivering in our boots and you're in Miami Vice-land with all that yummy sunshine and humidity and you're sick! Makes no sense to me! Tell Eli to take you on a cruise or something this weekend! YOu MUST read Bridget Jones. Get them out of the library. They are the funniest, easy read books - she's a neurotic English gal in her 30s who keeps a diary - weighs herself daily, justifies every weight gain, every cigarette, every failed relationship with men - it is too funny. Renee Zellweiger is starring in the movie adaptation which I am getting together 10 GFs to go see - the ultimate chick flick. I hpoe it's well done. CONGRATS!!!!!! on the 60 POUNDS! That is toooooo wonderful - my suggestion - GO BUY SOMETHING! :D Great job and very inspirational!

Annette - welcome. I've been SB-ing for about 3 weeks and am very happy with it in spite of the TOM problem I am currently having. I am a WW lifetimer but I think this may be thte solution to my slooooowwww losses on WW. Hang in there - this is a great group, incredibly knowledgeable.

Glory - We're going to Disney at the end of March, then down to Deb's neck of the woods. I cannot wait. I need a big change of scenery, plus I enjoy getting all choked up at Disney magic. My kids are great travelers so I am so psyched to see them have fun at the Mouse! My cravings have really gone away, and mine used to be super intense. Give it a little more time and hopefully it will kick in...???

Thinagin =- I agree - the boards are the best place for support. I have great GF but none of them are constantly looking for the ideal way to lose weight - here I know one of the most important quests in my life can find companionship and support!

Cynsea - CONGRATULATIONS!!! How wonderful for you! Having been borderline diabeteic when I was preg both times, I think doing SB while you are pregnant is a really wise choice. Just make sure you let your doctor know, and that you are getting the right nutrients at all times! How about iced decaf flavored tea? Flavored seltzers?

Overcome - oh, we all need to share your DGH! ;) He cooks! Sigh..... So how do you read on the treadmill - you have a stand for the book that attaches? Don';t you bounce around too much to read? I watch TV but would prefer to read during TM time....

Big O - What is Fresh market? is it a HFS? Is it something I should put on my TO DO list when we go to FLA?

Sara - so where are you moving in Boston? Do tell!

Quilter - I really HOPE I react that way next time I get the kids McDonalds (hmmm, maybe tonite...) - that willbe the ultimate test of willpower! When are you going to Fla? I know you're gonna hook up with the SB gals, what else are you going to do? The carob I got at WO specifically said unsweetened - one thing I really likea bout WO is how everythiing has the ingredients listed, so it should be pretty easy to make the determination. They had carob powder there - I wonder if I mixed that in with the pb.....ick, that sounds gross....Sushi is the best. It is my favorite food. Been eating it for over 20 years and have turned SO many people on to it. YOu get a craving and that's it - gotta have some. It's texture and taste all rolled into one great package. Start out with California Roll (if you can find a place that does it on brown rice, check WO) - which is all cooked - imit. crab, avocado, veggies - just to get a feel for the taste of it. Move on from there. Come to CT and I'll take you out for it!! It sounds like you have a fun work environment....sigh....

Connie - WOW on the -4! Awesome! Go take a good walk to make SURE it stays off!

Gator - doing nothing on vacation....what's that? Usually we are booked every minute from morning till nite.....run, run, run. I don't think I am physically capable of relaxing like that - wish I were! Since you're near Orlando, any tips? A friend of mine is moving down there in the next few months - he's looking into the West-something area, supposedly hot at the moment???

Well, ladies, hopefully this post will take! Have a great Wednesday and I will be checking in on those WIW stats!

Hi everyone, I am new to SB but have read the book and purchased the shopping guide. I will order the cookbook soon. You sure are a great bunch. I have been lurking many boards in search for the "right" "healthiest" diet and have decided upon SB. From the looks of everyone's weigh in stats you all are losing consistently at a rate of 1.5-2.5 per week and eating bread, cereal, fruits and veggies. What more can a person ask for. Most exciting is you don't have to count points (I hope). I'll continue to lurk until I have something to add to the wonderful pool of knowledge that already exists on this board. I am very happy to find you all.

Happy WIW to all.....

Except that I am STILL at 132. Honestly, I shouldn't fuss about it because from last Thurs - Mon, I was B A D  That is all I am going to say about that.

Deb.. green stuff is NOT good. Personally I think you should be on antibiotics. You don't want to develop pneumonia or bronchitis!!!! Don't make me come down there and drag you to the Dr screaming and yelling.

Viv.. I really enjoyed chatting with you yesterday :D I do think you jinxed me though. As the day progressed, I started feeling puny from all the fun we had in Charleston  I am back on track now. ANDDD.. as soon as DH gets TM together, I can try to catch up with you walkers.

The day is quickly getting away with me here. I want to go to the BigK and get a new vacuum cleaner http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//insane.gif I will try and get more caught up with posts later.

Congrats to those of you that had user-friendly 1 eyed monsters this week!!!!

I am new to the board and just wanted to say hey there to everyone!! I am anxious to get started on SB and interacting with the group. I just had a baby girl. I have been home for 6 weeks and have had relatives cooking for me and of course -I was rewarding myself with too many sweets the past few weeks. I will be home for another 6 weeks and would really like to throw myself into SB as I have the time now (in between diapers and feedings that is).

Hi Everyone! I lost my first 2 pounds with SB this week! I am so excited! I am starting to understand it a little better now! I went back to work today after several days of this cold infection thing - boy, I just keep carrying it around with me - it has been 6 weeks now - getting old fast! Anyway, when i got back to work, there were 4 Dove Chocolate Hearts on my desk! I know somebody was trying to be sweet, but it was a struggle because they were so small and cute, I thought well one won't hurt!! But, I did the right thing and gave them away! I just had a wonderful carb and sugar free lunch and it was tasty! Just wanted to say hello to everyone and wish you a great Wednesday!

gatorgirl - I am a Penn State alum and my husband is a Michigan State alum so you may not want to talk to me!! :p

I'm baaack..

DEBELLI - wow! congrats on your milestones! That's awesome!

VIV - you'll get the hang of it. Just think, not only will you gain a new bod here, you'll improve your computer skills! :D

FROG - welcome back - you were missed!

BUNNY - if you give in and eat those Cadbury's from Easter, gal, I can guarantee you won't enjoy it one bit! It's one thing to bite into those suckers on Easter, and quite another after they've been in the freezer for a year...EEEWWW http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sick.gif

WELCOME to the newbies! I'm new myself, and the gals here have been very helpful.

WIW didn't go as well as I'd hoped - no loss - but no gain, either, so I'm okay with that. I'm finally beginning to lose the cravings...yippee!!!!

So sorry to hear so many of you have been under the weather. So far I've been lucky; nothing but a bad case of exhaustion. :) AT least the sun is out today...

Have a "loser" of a week, everybody!

PS - Annette, don't tell your husband I'm from Ohio! He might not let you hang out with me! ;)

WELL HELLO LADIES :)

I'm so excited, my family are gone and I actually have the house to myself. this is the first time in about 5wks and I love it I can get on the board anytime I want. I could walk around the house naked if I wanted, well maybe not as my hubby's family have a way of walking in without knocking when they want and i'm talking about the men.

Anyway, it's a good SB day for me. I've lost 1lb. and I'm just as tickled as one can be. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif

Happy: Welcome to the board. this is a great bunch of girls with a lot of support for all of us. please don't just lurk, join right in we love newbies. were all in the same boat. Tell us alittle about yourself like where your from. and what you do or if your raising a family? we love to get to know you better.

Viv: disney, boy am I jealous! will you be able to have some time to get together with Deb while your there? Hope so, that would be great fun. If she gets back on the mend I'm worried about her. What is WO? Have a muffin for me too.

Deb: Wow 4lbs that's so exciting. I'm thrilled for you. But please see the Doctor I'm worried about you incase you didn't read my post to Viv. And your so close to your goal 5lbs. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//dizzy.gif I'd be doing flipflopps in my stomach i'd be so excited to be that close. I'm sure your anxious.

Thin: Wow, I just keep saying that today. But Wow a Baby on the way. how exciting. have you been picking out names? congrates on the good news.

Cynsea: you too Double WowWow a baby on board or I should say two babies on board. how wonderful. this is great. congradulations and good luck to you.

Big orange: What is Fresh Market is that like our produce out door markets

Sara: I can't imagine the big move you have ahead of you. I hope you will be able to connect up to the internet as soon as possible so that we can keep in touch with you. I would hate to be away from my hubby for any more than a wk I don't think I could take it.

Quilter: My prayers go out to Jackie, I'll be praying for good results. I'm proud of you for turning up your nose to those ugly old fries. they were most likely too salty anyway. Good luck with the spelling Bee.

Gator: Gee it's good to see you posting I've missed you. Did you enjoy Az, my kids live in AZ, what part did you go to?

Bunny: I have found that if I have a craving for something and I don't go for it, that I eat everything in the house and it still doesn't do the job till I go back and eat what I wanted in the first place. and look at the damage i've done cause i'm going to go back and eat it anyway. So I just do it in the first place and then get right back on track.

Frog: I'm glad to see you posted. I was just going to send out feelers to find out how you were.

MzLiz: I'm proud of you for puting that choc. in the drawer wow what will power you doing great you go girl. keep up the good work.

Micker: Welcome to the board and congradulations on your new Baby. how exciting, As I've already posted we have a couple of new ones coming to the board. Please feel at home here on the board we welcome all newbies. Tell us a little about yourself.

Well I really must go but before I do. I just wanted to say. We have a Vandynes here in our mall and for Valentines Day hubby and I went there to buy our Daughter SF choc. there. they have a wonderful selection year round. We ended up buying for all of us and it was great. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//love.gif

I also Wanted to say yes the cravings as of today are under control. I really can't believe that I lost anything, was afraid to get on the scale. I've eaten everything in the house this wk. it's TOM for me so I think that's what's got me going. anyway have a good day. love Glory

Afternoon Everyone! Have a few minutes before I have to go get Lauren from school, so I thought I'd start this post until than.

MSLIZ, we must of been posting at the same time earlier. Glad to see you are doing well, even though you didn't have a loss this week. It's great to hear the cravings are about gone, that's a plus! Sorry to hear your job is overwhelming, maybe it will get easier in time :)

VIV, on the muffins, did you lower the temperature 25 degrees? If not, that may help next time you make the muffins. Could be there is more juice in blueberries than strawberries. Don't worry about the soup, probably just a smidgen in there and you only had half anyhow. I'll def. have to go see that movie, sounds like it will be funny. The FRESH MARKET is just a small market that is sort of trendy, I guess you'd say. Anyhow, everything on the shelves are perfectly aligned, and it makes you feel that once you take something from the shelf, there is someone right behind you to fix the shelf. They have some wonderful baked goods there too!! Not that we plan on partaking in any when we go!!! Yep, there is one up in the area where you will be, so make sure you get to go there!!!

HAPPY, WELCOME TO THE BOARD! I'm glad you found us!!! No, you don't have to do points, BUT, I do think it's important, at least at the beginning, to keep some type of track of what you are eating. It seems the biggest mistake for many is not eating enough, and this could hamper your weight loss. We are working on foods to eat. There are good ideas in the book, other than that, it's really not that hard to come up with things to eat. I posted breakfast ideas a week or so ago, and will send you the list via e-mail if you get me your e-mail address. Please make sure you post your BIO on our BIO BOARD so we can learn more about you and vice-versa.

AMSER, okay, so you didn't lose, you didn't gain, not such a bad week considering. Next week, you'll get that loss, I'm sure. Hey, coming down isn't so bad-I'd much rather see you than the Dr.!! Did you get your new vaccuum??

MICKERS, WELCOME TO THE BOARD & CONGRATULATIONS ON THE BABY! Have you read the book already?? We'll be more than happy to help you out in anyway. When you get a chance, please post your BIO on the BIO BOARD so we can learn more about you!

ANNETTE, CONGRATS on the 2lb loss, that's great! You're on your way!!! Good going on getting rid of those Dove bars, I'm proud of you!!

GLORY, Congrats on your pound, how many is that now 90+ right! You are inching closer to that 100 mark! You'll have to update your picture soon, we won't recognize you. Trust me, you will be where I am before you know it. It doesn't seem like 11 months to me at all. It goes so fast! I'm feeling better this evening, seems to be that I'm on the mend. Thanks for caring so much about me :)

RHROO, congrats on another 1 1/2lb loss - you're hot on my tail~ My goal is 129, and then I'll lose another 5lbs whenever it comes, for playing around with.

OVERCOME, sounds like you had some fun doing the new tape. Wish I had someone close by that would do it with me, that would inspire me to do something else. I may watch the Grammys, just want to see what Madonna will do, otherwise, not really all that interested-I'm a James Taylor fan, I doubt he'll be one there!

Well ladies, I'm glad to say, I'm feeling somewhat better and haven't coughed as much this afternoon, so that's good - thanks for all your well wishes for me to get better - they're working!!!

I'll check in with you all later!!

GREAT NEWS EVERYONE!!!! My gf Jackie’s report came back and all lymph nodes are clean. No cancer anywhere. We are all jumping up and down with joy and thankfulness. She called this afternoon and told me to tell all my friends “thanks for their prayers”. So thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers. This is just the best news I could ever have gotten today. You all really helped me too with this. It’s so releaving to know there is such a strong, positive force coming from all of you directly to me. Does that make sense? We really do empower each other!!!!

Well, I forgot to weigh in today. So sorry. I will do it first thing in the morning. Does it still count???? I ate and got dressed before I remembered to attack the one-eyed wonder. And I like to do it on an empty stomach. I’ll report in the am. Feel really good about my eating today. Wrote everything down in my palm pilot. So tonight when I wanted to come home and snack, I re-thought it because I would have to write it down. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my seat is firmly planted on the wagon. Anybody got any super glue? LOL!

LIZ---Way to go on the willpower with the chocolate. Keep it up!!!! I’m right there with you. Bought a Chocolove bar this week and immediately threw it in the back of the freezer when I got home. Haven’t opened it yet. I’m going to try and hold out like DEB. She has tons of chocolate at her house that’s all unopened.

DEB---All I can say is AWESOME!!! You are my hero! Congrats on losing four this week and for being at 134. I so want to see that number on my scale when it's not whizzing by, but it will be a while. Sixty pounds you’ve lost . . . that’s equal to two of the big bags of dog food we buy for Maddie-girl. Stand back and think about that!!! YOu must feel great! I’m thrilled for you. Your determination and commitment are a help to me as I climb back on the wagon. Thanks for ALL you do!!! Also, appreciate you clueing me in on the carob. I will BEWARE of it and only look for the unsweetened. I’ll bet what’s in my pb is sweetened. Figures.

VIV---I totally agree with your complaint about WO. I thought sure we’d have some SB foods, but nothing. Next visit, I’m taking a list to pass on to somebody who looks important. We are visiting my niece and her fiance in FL. One day we’ll do Busch Gardens and do some other beach and tourist things . . . not real sure. We don’t have kids so we’re not doing Disney. We’re only there for a week, but it will be good to see them. Pre-wedding jitters. I vaguely remember them. Thanks for the sushi tip. I may get up my courage to try some. Love seafood, so why not go for it????

HAPPY---Welcome. We’re glad you picked us. We really are wonderful!!! Isn’t that reight everyone??? I counted points with WW for over a year and got majorly burned out on that. I am just now getting to the point where i can record what I eat. I found that this is very necessary for me to do. Anyways, hope you enjoy your stay with us. We’re wanting the best for you and wishing for a huge success!!

AM---That’s disappointing to stay where you are on the scales, but give it another day or two and see what develops. Maybe you just need a couple extra days this week to register a loss. Good luck with the vacuum. Here’s my tip in case you haven’t bought one yet. I made the huge mistake of buying one of those bagless kind last year. Well, with winter, the static cling effect in our house is MONSTROUS and Maddie’s dog hair just flies out of the cylinder when you go to empty it. I spend more time going over the area around the vacuum. EEEEEEK! VAcuuming is bad enough, but having to do it more than once a session is the pits. Hope you have better luck with yours!

MICKERS---Welcome!!! How great to have you and your baby join in the fun here. SB is a great way to eat. You’ll feel so much better when you get that evil sugar out of your system. Hope it goes well for you.

ANNETTE--Congrats on your first two pound loss. That’s terrific! And if you keep doing the right thing (like giving away candy) you will have many more 2 pound losses in your future. That is awesome willpower you exhibited there. Good for you!!!!!

GLORY---You had me LOL about your thoughts of walking naked and hubby’s family interrupting. Pretty funny, just as long as it doesn’t really happen. That kind of happened to me years ago (not strutting around naked, of course) and it was SOOOOOO embarrassing. Still makes my skin crawl to think of it. Thanks for your prayers. It sure did work!!!! Glad that your cravings are losing their power. Hang in there, girlfriend . . . you can do it!!!!!

JOY---How sad for you that you are losing your uncle. I sure do hope you can find a good ticket to get down there soon. I’ll keep you all and your uncle in my prayers.

RHROO---Way to go on your loss! That’s really wonderful!! You are quickly getting to where you want to be. Very cool, indeed.

Well, that’s it for me for now. I need to go clean up the kitchen and swiffer the floors (my unending battle with dog hair!). Take care, my friends. Catch you later.

Hi everyone! Well, I have some really good news mixed with some sad news. My grandmothers funeral was today at 2:00 pm but at 1:20 pm my new granddaughter was born. Her name is Amber Madison and she weighed 7lbs. 8 ozs and 21 inches long. She has lots of dark brown hair.

Also, I stayed the same today when weighing in.

I’m back after a wonderful chat with VIV on IM. Something tells me if I keep this up, I’m never going to finish another quilt and I’ll have to change my screen name.

CHERI---Congrats on the new grand babe!!! That’s great. I’m so happy for you. I’ll bet she is so sweet. How long before you get to hold her or have you already done that??? Does this mean we are still on for the weekend or do you have grandma things to do now? Let me know.

DEB---I’ve been meaning to tell you . . . I LOVE the butter rubbing trick. It works so well and you hardly need any to cover your toast. Thanks for the tip. My thighs thank you too, because they are VERY fond of butter. It goes straight to them when I eat it! LOL. Also . . . I had a questions and it’s GONE from my brain right now. I can’t believe I did that. Does anybody else have that problem. One second it’s right there and poof! it’s vanished into the thin air between my ears. UGH!! I’ll think of it as soon as I turn off my computer.

OVERCOME---Thanks for the the link to treadmilldoctor. That is a great book rack. I’m ready to order it and get moving. The book rack that came with our TM is so far out in front, I can’t even reach it to turn the pages.

Okay ORANGE . . . where are you? Waiting for you post tonight, but haven’t seen one yet. Are you watching those grammys? Has Skeeter commandeered the computer????

Who’s watching Survivor? I CANNOT stand that “aspiring actress”!!! She’s pure evil. Watch her make it to the final four. Each week I say I’m not watching anymore, but keep going back. Yes, it’s a sickness.

Well, DH has a meeting tonight. So I’m going to hit the hay and get Maddie girl to keep me warm until my honey gets home. Good night all.

Hey everyone! Glad to hear that most of those who were under the weather are improving. Those are some nasty bugs!

Been doing pretty well. I do need to start walking on the treadmill. Every day I wake up and say today will be the day......

Quick question - I want to replace my scale. I see some of you post with tenths of a pound and assume you use a digital. Do the less expensive digitals work well, or would I be better off getting a mechanical with the really easy to read numbers? Seems like every time I step on mine the number changes.

Welcome to all the newbies, of which I am one myself. This is a wonderful, warm, supportive group who makes all newcomers feel welcome!

Dear Buddies,

I have just discovered a mistake I made!!!! I happened to look at my calendar, and last WIW I weighed 131!!!!!!! SOOOOO... that means I gained 1 lb since last week. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//dizzy.gif I am not going to be too upset. It could have been worse!!!! Besides....da da da daaaaa DH has put the TM together!!!! And the new vacuum too. Ladies, ladies, ladies.. I bought the BAGLESS  You got to be quick on the draw when you have shopping tips, lol. Besides, I had one of those 200.00 Hoover Windtunnels, and I could NOT stand it when it came to changing the bag. I could never get the hole in the bag to stay atteched to hole from vacuum..... NOWWWW that was a mess to clean up. Not to mention, it gave me a headache every time I had vacuumed!!!
Oh well.

Those of you that are on AIM, please add me to your list. If you have added me, IM me when you see me sign on. I am not sure who is and isn't at work. It's always convenient for me to chat!!!!!

I am tired. Watching DH put together the TM wore me slap out http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif

Everyone have a good night and a great Thursday!!!!!

Good Evening everyone. Yep - it is me. And yes - BOB - I was lurking and you could just feel it. Yes we got along the minute we met. Sorry I have not written to you lately but busy times.
Very busy times for us. School is crazy - kids have been so wound up lately but that is what you get when you live by the ocean. They leave early (skipping) to go to the ocean - whatever! Of course -- all these full moons we have been having lately certainly does not help.
Annette -- I live in Port Orange and work at Silver Sands Middle School. Hubby is the high school band director at New Smyrna High.
Deb -- my goodness -- what wonderful news.
Like I stated earlier - very busy times. This Friday is my son-in-law's birthday and his father is having a surprise party for him. That is also my brother's birthday - but he is in Missouri.
Then Saturday is my hubby's birthday -- yeh -- he is going to be 58. Those of you that met him can attest to the fact the man does not look even close to that age. A lot of people put him in the 30's -- god -- what am I - chopped liver! I look **** good for being 58 - oh by the way - I will be 59 on April Fools Day -- I do not want to hear aything about it OK? Someone is always playing a trick on me. The best one was when I was living in Illinois and hung around with 3 gals. They asked if they could take me out to lunch -- they did -- McDonald's drive-through!!
then Sunday is a bridal shower put on by middle daughter for her older sister who is getting married April 7.
Then next weekend is the huge subdivision garage sale and of course I have to do that.
Weather here has been so beautiful - especially today - in the low 70's -- it was wonderful.
I am doing well on my WOE - SB and WW -- it works for me. I have been going through my closet -- I have soooooooo many clothes in all different sizes. I was so mad -- some things that I had bought on sale a long time ago - I can not wear -- they are toooo big -- garage sale for them. I am down to 6 pair of pants including my jeans. It is a great feeling for sure.
Welcome allthe NEWBIES - my goodness there are so many of you -- hang in there and before I forget -- what is with all this cheating I am reading about -- when the weekend comes think it is Monday and Tuesday - maybe that will help. I have little tolerance -- either you are going to lose the weight and keep to the diet or not. When one cheats you always try to make it right -- well there is no right -- just say NO and do it. Drink ice cold water - that always helps me - or take a bite of something and dont swallow. Do not go somewhere with the idea I know I am going to have to cheat because there wont be anything there for me. Just work on it -- it always puts us back in the hole and that is not a good thing. I do not mean to preach but I guess I am. I also think that because I have to take so much medication (and they are weight gainers - side effect) I have to work extra hard to get the weight off. And then you all use TOM as an excuse -- it is - just accept the fact that you are going to have a gain and say to heck with it. Those of us that have gone through the lovely change sure can not use that as an excuse.
I am off the band wagon- whew!
Keep trying and it will all be good.
Take Care

Seems like I'm gonna be the Queen of Quick-Posts here for a while.

CONGRATS to our Mommies-to-be!! What wonderful news.

Way to go, all you LOOSERS!! Ya'll are the coolest!

We are leaving Tuesday. Our new temporary home will be in Andover, Mass. Gonna be close quarters for 7 people in an 1150 sq.ft. apartment!!

OH, and I was down 1 pound today. Still don't consider that much of a loss until I can break the 218 mark. Today leaves me at 220, and I am hanging in by a thread! I SO much wanted to head down to Dairy Queen for a pecan mudslide...but I DIDN'T!! I need my husband! He really helps me stay focused!

Nite ladies!

Annette--Once you've gone to your first SEC football game, you'll be hooked. We stay at a B&B in Gainesville when we go up for the games, and occasionally we meet big 10 folks who are down visiting their son or dau. And they are amazed at the spirit at the games. We sure do like our football down here. Don't listen to Big Orange. She is just mad because the Gators have beaten the Volunteers 6 out of the last 7 years, or is it 7 out of the last 8, Orange? Just teasing a little here. Every time we play Tennessee, it is anybody's game and the Gators have just been fortunate more often the the Vols. :)
Anyway, your daughter will be going to a good school academically, because UF is ranked in the top 50 academically, including private schools (Duke, etc.) The standards for admission are pretty high, and UF is the most difficult state university to get into. Hope she gets in and has a good experience there.

Barbee lives in Port Orange. She is older than 39, she is funny in that she is very direct. And I think she likes to see if she can get a reaction out of the people she is around. Am I right Barbee? She also has Debelli "pegged." Barbee likes beautiful clothes, and even has gold tennis shoes. She and I both think Debelli should get some "babe" clothes to go with her new svelte figure!! If ya got it, flaunt it!!

Viv--the only West-something that comes into mind right now is West Palm Beach. But we are really smart up here in central Fla. around Orlando. We even know how to punch ballots when we vote. Is your friend moving to Central Florida? It really is nice here, although some people who move down from "up north" complain about no change of seasons. We really have seasons, but not the hard winters like the snowbirds left behind. Right now is is 75-80 in the day time and I have been driving around with the top down on my convertible. Its great! In the summer it is in the 90's, no hotter than NYC or Boston, but the nights are also hot, in the 70's--high 70's. It is also humid, which is great for ones complexion, but makes the heat feel hotter. However, we do have air conditioning, so we just turn on the AC and go from our AC house to our AC car, to the AC store, etc. If you like to walk or run, you do it at night when it is "cooler."

Glory--we went to the Phoenix/Scotsdale area. We actually stayed in Scotsdale at a "resort" there. In that town, everything is a resort, even the Holiday Inn! It was chilly, about 65 in the day time. Slightly overcast. But I just stayed cozy inside.

Debelli, did you ever post the pictures of our day in Orlando? I never did get to review all the posts when I was so busy and when I was gone, so thought I might have missed the information. I am curious to see how the pictures turned out. Hope you are feeling better. Probably a good idea to take it easy until you get well. If your body is using all its energy to heal, then walking just detracts from its full potential aimed at your illness. Good luck.

Have a great Thursday and I'll post tomorrow night.

WOW - twice in one night.
No - Gatorgal -- you do not have me figured out. I do not do things or say things to get an reaction out of people -- I really could care. That is the way I am -- have always been that outspoken and have eaten my foot a few times but hey. I have always said what ever came to mind -- I am very truthful and if someone wants my opinion I will give it to them - whether they like it or not.
In all of my evalutions as a teacher that is the first thing my principals say - very outspoken - speaks her mind. Now that I have straightened that out I am going to go to bed.
Has anyone used Splenda in cooking? I love orange bread - revamped the recipe and used whole wheat flour and Splenda. Well I have no idea what that was that came out of the oven but sure as heck was not orange bread -- It was god - awful. Right to the garbage.
Have to hit the sheets for some good beauty rest,
May you all have a good day tomorrow.

Evening everyone. Congrats to all of you who lost today!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif I didn't dare get on the scale, and won't until my TOM has arrived and is near over! But I've been pretty good, so hopefully by this time next week I can rejoice with you instead of just for you!

DEB: I am so thrilled for you!! 60 # is quite the milestone, indeed! Oh, I just cannot wait until I can say that of myself!

In the past, I've always seen getting near goal the only "Hurray!!" moment, but am noticing that even though I have a long way to go before reaching goal, that losing weight has so many rewards along the way. Sort of a no-brainer, but it hit me today. A friend (who knows I'm 'dieting') commented on the fact that I look slimmer every time she sees me. While it felt good to hear that, I found it hard to accept her compliment and sort of brushed it off. I think it's because I know I have so much more to lose before being a 'normal' size. But I'll tell ya, I sure feel better about myself already and I'm only down 30.

About the Cadbury frozen eggs... I caved. Last night, I went ahead and had ONE (It was a 4 pack). It didn't have freezer yucky taste or anything and was actually pretty good. But honest to goodness, it was not a FRACTION as good as I thought it would be. That's good to know, and I'll need to keep that memory fresh for the next time temptation strikes! But, out of my system and got back on track today. No guilt even. Just feel I gained a bit of wisdom for next time.

Well, it seems the family is retiring quite early tonight. Think I'll join them and get in a good read before lights out.

Hey all.

There's so much I wanted to respond to but I don't think today's gonna be the day. We went for the ultrasound yesterday and we lost the baby. I'm real tired. Luckily the boys are in bed and I'm gonna grab me an SB legal glass of wine and veg in front of the telly. I'll send happier regards in a few days.

Thanks for being here. Ya'll are great.

Welcome to all the newbies. This is just my third week and I am feeling really good about my loss - 7.5 lbs. I still have cravings once and a while, but my biggest accomplishment is I haven't had any Coke (or any other pop) since Feb.2 and I lived on it.
This really is a good bunch of girls who will help you with any question you have.

Susy - So sorry to hear about the baby. Don't really know what to say except that my heart goes out to you and your DH.

Bunny Lover - ONLY 30?!! My gosh girl, that's great!

Glory - A co-worker once told me that she was going to surprise her DH when he came home for lunch. She was sitting on the stove with only an apron on - DH brought home a friend!

Got my test results - have to start thyroid medication. Everyone is telling me that I should really start losing the lbs. now - I can only hope. I just want to feel like my old self again.

Time for bed so I can make myself get up and exercise in the morning.

Susy, I am so sorry about your baby. A big cyberhug!!

I am so far behind in all the posts. Gosh.... seems like when I'm waiting and waiting for someone to post.... nothing.... then when I'm busy busy.... everyone is posting. Can you all please get on MY schedule????? http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif

My doctor called me last night to check on my wrist. What a guy, heh? He also told me that my biopsy had come back negative. Whoohooo!!! I really wasn't too worried about it, but it sure felt good to hear. He did say that there is a 70% chance it can recur, and since it was wrapped around the nerves, that's not a good thing. But I'll deal with it when I have to deal with it.

In the meantime, I'm busting sugar right and left!!!

And right now I'm off to post the recipe for the Brown Rice Flour Cookies before Deb comes to California and smacks me.... hmmm.... that would be one way to meet her in person.

Okay okay.... on my way...... http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif

Hi Ladies….
It’s so cold again here, they’re predicting snow for tonite.,…yuk yuk yuk yuk……

At least this weekend we’ll have a little getaway, even if it is fraught with in-law activity of all sorts….

This TOM issue still exists and I feel very puffy. The scale is still up just a bit and I am getting very depressed. I have been totally OP – and the TOM doesn’t seem like it’s strong enough to produce all this puffiness! Oh, how I want a drop!!!

The good news is that last nite I got the kids McDonalds – didn’t even care to grab the fries or drink half the leftover shake. That’s major progress, ladies. I just wish the scale would reward me….L

Sourdough bread – any kind is okay? Let me know, that might be helpful in the bagel department as well?

Thin – I am so sorry about the baby. But there’s always a reason that happens – take good care of YOURSELF now and hug the boys!

Ann – Sorry about the “jinx”! Can you send some good luck my way?

Annette – way to go on the –2! I had a good start on the plan as well, don’t know what’ my body is doing to me now, tho….

Glory – you too, on the –1! A pound is apound, awesome! WO is Wild Oats, a big chain HFS. They have great prepared foods and sushi made with brown rice, and all theingredients are listed. Deb and I may get together when we’re in FLA – unfortunately I only have a small “window” and it’s a bit of a drive for her – so I’ll be optimistic but will understand if she doesn’t want to watch me get a manicure (although I’ll be feeding her low sugar ice cream)……

Connie – so glad about your biopsy. Now just take the time to heal so you can type more!

Rhroo – I’m curious about what is said at your WW meetings if you mention that you’re doing SB. I found WW to be very…oh, what’s the word…..self-exclusive? Like ONLY WW works and nothing else! Boy, were they wrong!

Deb- thanks for the muffin tips. I’m going to try that next time – I was so glad to find the agave nectar. I will head to Fresh Market if we find another “window”. We should have taken the kids out for 2 weeks this time, stupid us. Are you feeling any better today?

Ashley – nice chattin with ya last nite! I’m going to order my book rack today!

Quilter – I am so glad Jackie is okay! What a great relief! Give her a hug for me. I think I’m going to write a letter of complaint on WO’s website, if there’s a place I can do that. They need to acknowledge us SB-ers. Ohhhhh, I HATE JERRI TOO! I hope she gets the boot! Then I can have Colby all to myself..hee hee hee. And that Kimmy can go take a hike too. Ick. Ohhh, and Michael, is he a lunatic or what? You come over her to CT , girl, and I’ll take ya out for some sushi!

Cheri – what an emotionally tryingtime you’ve had – I’m so sorry about your grandmother but what a blessing to have your granddaughter born. Will she be named after your grandmother?

Sashm – 7 people in 1150 sf? Is this some new kind of reality television show? How come so many people? Gosh, I hope you like them all!

Bunny – did you have any kind of bad reaction to eating the chocolate (other than the guilt, of course ;) )

Karen3000- I had a new digital scale – it was midpriced but it was on drugs. Totally inconsistent. So I bought a good quality old fashioned scale. I may not get .5 indications, but at least I know less can go wrong with this one.

Barbee – I laughed about the cold water – lately I’ve been mixing my cold water with hot water because it’s so cold here! I know that cold water burns more calories, or whatever it is, but…..brrrrr….I can’t! What grade do you teach? The article in Consumer Reports said Spenda is terrible in baking – sorry!Deb, what do you suggest to replace the sugar – agave?\\

Gator – John is moving to the Orlando area. He is a Universal and Emeril lover, he and his GF go there all the time, so why not move there? LOL, if only life were that simple! But he will be there by Fall…I am so jealous! LOL, my GF in Boca says the same thing about the AC – from the AC House to the AC Car to the AC Store and back….it would work for me!

Well ladies, off to eat my oatmeal. I hope something gives! This is getting old!!!

Good Thursday Morning Everyone! :D

Boy, you were a bunch of busy beavers last night on the board - I hate being sick and not being able to keep up with you all! Dead to the world early last night, though I did get to see Madonna at the beginning on the Grammy's. Not that I'm a great fan of hers, but I sure am a fan on how good that woman looks, and how she sure can dance!!!

I guess I'm starting to get better, at least I hope I am. Didn't wake up too many times with dry mouth or coughing last night, so that must be a good sign. Now, I just need to get rid of this cough and congestion. I did go and walk 3.5 miles this morning. Eli says I'm nuts, who am I to argue?!? I need some normalcy in my life!

Today is my 11 MONTH SB ANNIVERSARY!! I can't believe I'll have 1 year following this WOE next month - it's gone so fast! I told Sharon when I hit goal, I'm going to finally give in and open one of those 8 chocolate bars I have had stashed, she doesn't believe me, but then again, neither do I. Every time I've hit a goal that I said I was going to partake in some, I ended up not-really, I have no desire for it.

Speaking of Sharon, she's been following SB for 6 weeks now and has lost 26lbs-needless to say, she's quite happy! For you newbies, Sharon is a friend of mine that I've known for 33years, since I was 6yrs old.

TODAY IS RECIPE DAY and I am going to post 2 recipes on the board a little later. One for BAGELS and one for WW PITA BREAD.

Has anyone who actually has AOL tried to invite AIM buddies to a chat?? It seems whenever I try to I/M you all for a chat, it doesn't go through. I guess I'll have to call AOL and find out why. BTW, if anyone doesn't know, my AOL screen name is the same as my screen name here, Debelli.

Going to try and find a shirt today, not that I really need it, though many would tend to disagree with that fact, but I thought I'd see if Loehmann's has anything interesting. I haven't been successful too many other places. When I do find something I like, it seems to always be dry clean only, and I don't buy that stuff to wear as casual, much less dressy! I'm sure I'll come home empty handed-that's okay, saves money!

QUILTER, that's great news about your girlfriend! Now you can come to Fl with a clear head and ready to enjoy yourself!!! Did you get to WI today?? Hope it's good news!! You'll be where I am before you know it! Hmm, 2 bags of dog food I've lost, I'll have to visualize that one. Glad that butter tip works for you, though it doesn't make a nice stick of butter you'd want to serve to your guests  Ever think of that question??? I agree, I don't like that actress on Survivor, they should name her the Backstabber!

ANNETTE, thanks again for the info on those 2 places up your way, I will definintely be checking them out-maybe we can go together!!

CHERI, CONGRATULATIONS ON THE GRANDBABY! It's amazing on the timing. One life leaves and a new one begins. Such is life. Cute name, my niece is Madison Taylor.

BIGO, Congrats on that 1.4lb loss! Yep, Eli is coming, unless something explodes at work. Geez, he's not about to miss a dinner at Marco!! Do you know if there are any good HFS we can hit in Naples?? I'll try to check it out in the internet yellow pages to see.

KAREN, once you get on the treadmill, you'll love how you feel and you'll look forward to doing it. Actually, when the weather is nice, if you can, try to walk outside, then on days of inclement weather, do the mill! I would tend to say that you are better off with a regular scale, HEALTH-O-METER (the brand in Dr.'s offices use) has a floor model (I have one), that works just great. The problem with digitals, they fluctuate so much it seems, esp. when the batteries start to go low. I think Service Mdse, or even Kmart carries the HOM brand.

AMSER, don't worry about that pound, I'm sure it's water/hormones/full moon and will go back down quickly. I love my bagless vaccuum. I have a RAINBOW, which the dirt goes into water. It's sooooo gross to see what I get up! Have fun with the treadmill!!!

BARB, so I see you've graced the board with your presence once again :D Please tell G HAPPY BIRTHDAY! True, he doesn't look a day over 39! Sharon says she wants to use whatever he uses - that Dorian Gray face mask!!! LOL!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif Hope you sell a lot at the garage sale, then you can go buy some new stuff. Trust me Barb, even though I don't have a bunch of clothes, I too still have some things I bought that still has tags on them - I think it's a woman's nature to do crazy things like this! Sorry to hear about the disastrous Orange Bread!

SAS, How are the kids feeling about the move?? I hope things to very smoothley. I'm sure you are all going to love your time in MASS. Guess what - you are really going to love MASS - there are soooo many TRADER JOES THERE!!! WHaaaaaa!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//crying.gif

GATOR, I should get the pictures back tonight from Eckerds. If so, I will post them when I get a chance on the computer. I hope they came out good!

HAPPY, I'll be happy to resend that list, not a big deal. If you are running 5.0 or higher AOL, if you go to your MAIL CENTER, you should be able to see recently deleted mail from the past 24 hours :)

BUNNY, I understand about how hard it is to take a compliment. People compliment me on how wonderful I look, and I dismiss it and say, "not yet", or something else like that. My kids asked me why I can't just say "thank you", why I have to make a nice comment sound negative. I couldn't answer them. It's hard for me to accept a compliment for some reason. I guess after being fat for so many years and hearing negativity, I'm not use to compliments, or how to accept them.

SUSY, sorry to hear about the baby. I know that must be hard, but you know they always say that things like that happen for a reason. It amazes me how many I went through before I actually had Michael, and then Lauren-and I know that if they wouldn't of happened, I wouldn't have the 2 great kids I have now. We're all thinking of you!!

COUNTRY, so glad you're doing well, CONGRATS! See you CAN live without Coke!! So, thyroid meds make you lose weight??? I hope it helps in more ways than one.

JOY, glad to hear the news on your wrist, though I hope you don't have any permanent damage and you don't have a reoccurance! The cookies look yummy, can't wait to try them!!!

VIV, with the sourdough, the least amount of preservatives the better, just read the label as best you can. Check out the recipe board a little later, I'll be posting a bagel recipe.

Well gals, I've got to go, kids have early release day. Day is almost over for me.

PLEASE REMEMBER, TONIGHT'S CHAT AT 9:30PM EST Anyone planning to attend??

I'll check in with you all later!!

Hi everyone, thanks for the warm welcomes. I feel so frightened about eating carbs after struggling with low carb (fruitless, breadless, grainless, and veggieless) eating and failing for so long. I am just going with blind faith here. I might purchase the old ww materials or richard simmons counter to track how much I am eating so I don't overdue it. Is anyone else using that approach?

DEBBIE, I found your email by usint the recently deleted gizmo, thanks and it is very helpful. Is there such a list for lunches and dinners?

ANYONE outhere ever post lists of their lunches and dinners they would be willing to post for this apprehensive newbie http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//umm.gif

Well good morning Ladies :)

Yes it's a good one, we have a nice sunny day today. and I really have been enjoying reading some of the posts that you all wrote. I really would never run around the house naked :D If i did Hubby would get a movie camera and catch me most likely. I just run around in a short nightie. I love it. But the funs over Hubbys home today so I must devote my time to him today. were going thrift store shoping http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//dizzy.gif I love it.

Deb: In answer to your question, yes it's now 94lb off and going down. i'm so thrilled. I really wanted to reach that 100lb mark by feb. but that's another resolution down the drain. I don't feel bad about it cause I know this time i'm doing it and I've never lost so much weight before in my life and i really feel good about this WOE I know i'm committed and that's not to be committed http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//dizzy.gif even tho i have a little bit of crazy in me. Just a personel opion :o

Gator: I was wondering is Scottsdale anywhere near glendale? that's where my Son and his family live?

Quilter: I'm so excited for Jackie, Isn't it wonderful to see that God does answer prayers and to have such a wonderful friend.

Country: I loved your story. I would die if one of my hubbys friends or family came in and caught me. that would be awful.

Joy: I'm so glad to hear the good news about the wrist. Yipppeeee. We girls need to stick together and support each other . You go girl

Viv: Sounds like you and Deb are in for a good time. Wish I lived closer. It was fun getting a chance to chat with you for a short time yesterday. Hope I catch you on again sometime and we can talk longer. you don't let those kids get you down.

Sharon: Wow 26lb loss that's really wonderful. I'm impressed. I too have a friend like you that i've known sence childhood. we were kindof raised in the crib together and still keep in touch. it's great to have really close friends.

Deb: I don't know if Sharon get's on or not so please pass that on to her. I know she's special to you. And a big Congrates on your Anniversary isn't it wonderful. You've done so good. Just think by the time it's a yr you'll most likely be at goal. WoW. :)

Well gotta go hubbys russling in the kitchen and he doesn't know how to cook, Love ya glory

Hi everyone! Thank you all for your sympathies for my grandmother and your congratulations for my granddaughter. I do have a picture of her but am not quite sure how to post it.

Viv: No, my granddaughter wasn't named after my grandmother. They chose a name unique to the family. Thanks, I think it's a cute name too.

Susy: I am so sorry to hear about your loss. You and your husband are in my prayers.

Joy: I'm glad to hear the good news about your wrist. I hope everything continues to go well and you don't have a reoccurance.

HappyWisdom: I have been using Richard Simmon's Food Mover to help me with quantities and calories. I am new to this WOE and haven't lost much yet, but I know that I will and the mover seems to help me keep track of how much I am eating.

Kim: Sorry that we are going to have to postpone our meeting this Saturday. I'm going to leave in the morning to go visit the family in Michigan.

Debbie and Glory: Congratulations on your 60# and 94# losses. It's really awsome. You are truly an inspiration to all of us. This really can happen. Thank you.

Hi,
The bookstore only had hardcover SB so hopefully I can pick it up today. I did get the shopping comp and browsed thru the book.
I had the same question as happywisdom regarding tracking the quantities too - so I am curious to see a response.

Happywidom - sounds like we have been on the same rocky road (and not the ice cream).

Hey all.

Thank you for the hugs and prayers. I;ve sorta binged on bread stuff today. It's all been legal, just massive quantities  OK, so I've had three slices of bread and some oatmeal. But I'll be ok, soon I hope.

Congrats to all you losers. I'm gonna have to break down and get a scale. This measuring losses by the fit of my jeans is just not good enough anymore.

So I'm gonna get out of the house for a bit, go explore a new store and buy myself a (breadless) lunch.

Thank you all again.

Evening Everyone! :D

Thought I'd get in a post before tonight's chat.

I got the pictures back, but I must be a bit stupid, I'm having a hard time getting these pictures to enlarge. Be patient with me a day or two, and I'll figure them out!

Went to Loehmann's, nada! Junk there! I did go to Marshall's and found a white shirt I like, but didn't buy it, you can see my bra easily through it, plus I found a little stain on it. Would love to find it in a dark color. Did find it in a sorta salmon color. Bought that one, but may not keep it, you can still see my white lace flowered bra too easily through it, which I don't like! Hey, it's a start - size medium by the way.

HAPPY, trust me, you aren't the first person to come over from a low-carb lifestyle and be scared of eating carbs-you were brainwashed, it's not your fault. Honestly though, you will do fine. You just have to get out of that low-carb mindset. Make sure you check out FITDAY.COM if you haven't already, you can keep track of your foods on there. Though, if you want the WW or RS plans, you can surely find them cheap enough on Ebay or on the HELP BOARD on this site. I personally find it easy enough to write things down in a little notebook. I don't do it daily, but when things seem not to be moving, I find it very helpful. I have a few menus' in my files, will get them and send them to you later, but again, it's not that hard to figure out what to eat from the major food groups. Now snacks, that's the next list we have to get done!!!

BIGO, did you see my message above on the shirt?? Maybe we'll find something in Naples (NOT!). Did you get my e-mail?? Let me know what you find out.

GLORY, 94lbs is totally awesome, you'll hit 100 before you know it. You know what, when I started SB, I thought I'd reach goal in Oct. It came and went. At the time, it really wasn't such a big deal. I continued to lose and felt great, reaching goal was/is secondary. Whenever it comes, it will be great. Instead of making a big goal, I should of stuck to small goals, which is what I've been doing for a while. My goal of reaching 135 by the end of this month came true a little early, now I just hope I can hold it under that! So you may not make 100 by end of Feb, but you know it's around the corner and you WILL MAKE IT SOON!!! Keep up the great work!! I sent Sharon a copy of your message, she said to tell you THANK YOU :D

CHERI, if you can e-mail me the picture of the baby as an attachment, I will be more than happy to get it loaded up for you!!

MICKERS, like I told HAPPY, check out FITDAY.COM-great site for keeping track. If you can get the SB book at the library, that's good enough really. As long as you have the shopper's guide to know what to eat, you'll refer more back to that than you will SB once you've read it probably. You may find things a little misleading at times, just ask us, we'll be happy to help you decipher things easier.

THINAGIN, don't worry about the consuming of legal carbs. I do that a couple times of month, it's hormones, and you're entitled! It will pass. So, what new store did you find???

Well gals, I'm heading off this contraption for now. I'll be back on at 9:30pm for the chat. I've already given forewarning to everyone in the house that the computer is MINE at that time!! LOL!!!

Toodles!

The move is going full steam ahead. We are ready for the packers.

VIV: No, we are not a new reality based TV show...although we probably could be!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif We are myself, DH, 2 boys (9, 11), 3 girls (2, 13, 15). We are a his, mine and ours family. :)

DEB: We are all SO looking forward to our time in MASS. It's going to be a homeschooler's heaven! Kids are worked up as well. Good to know about TJ's. I'll definitely be on the lookout!

On a personal note to SUSY: I am sooo sorry for your loss. If you would like to e-mail me, I hope that I can provide some support for you. I have been through 4 miscarriages in the past 3 years. All in the early first tri-mester. So many times the doctors say it could be chromosonal things, but there are also many other possiblities that are treatable. My sweet result of progesterone treatment is going to turn 2 on Monday! (((Susy)))

Speaking of that fabulous 2 year old, she is calling...she seems to always sense when I'm on the pooter!! :)

Later!

Here's a quickie before my addiction comes on at 8 p.m. Haven't had a chance to read all the posts from late last night and today, but just wanted to address a few things.

SUSY---So sorry to hear about the baby. Have never gone through it myself, but have watched friends in agony over this loss. Pleas know you and DH will be in my thoughts and prayers.

BARBEE---Thanks for giving it to us straight! I need to hear your "cheating talk" about once a week. (Some weeks more than once.) Hey, you could put it on tape and make a fortune!!!! I'd buy one.

Almost forgot . . . I did remember to weigh in this morning and I lost the two pounds that crept back on last week. So I'm back to my total of 9 pounds. However, want you all to know that I've committed to writing down everything I eat and that will help on portion control and those extra little tidbits that seem so small, but add up.

Gotta go get out of this bra before I recline and veg out for an hour. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that "aspiring actress" Jerri gets the axe tonight (figuratively . . . not literally). I read in the paper that CBS has a personality survey up and that little backstabber has the LOWEST rating. 2.4 on a scale of 1-10. Ha-ha!!!! Wonder what it feels like to be a millionaire and be so obnoxious that people still don't like you.

Bye.

Hope chat went well for everyone. I hope the new chat program that Suzanne installed works better than the last one. I couldn't get it to work for me. And spend a nice evening with my daughter, so did not chat tonight.

Debelli, the IM works so that all AOL people can enter a chat room, and all non-AOL people can enter one, but you can't have a mixed room, with both AOL and non-AOL people. I don't know why they don't change that, but they haven't. When I get into multiple conversations with both AOL and non-AOL people, I just have to open 2 screens. It's not as good, definitely.

Boy, that's a record for you, Barbee. Two posts in one night. Thanks for your "no cheatin' talk. Most everyone needs to hear that every once in a while.

Big Orange, I want to fix some more beans with the Wiley's. Pole beans are so expensive now, so I was wondering if you ever fixed plain green beans with it. I do have fresh green beans and wonder if they would do well with the Wiley's. I wonder how cabbage would do with it. Any suggestions?

My daughter and I walked our 1.5 miles tonight. She is a lot taller than I am, so she walks much faster. I feel like I am running just to keep up. Also did my weight lifting today.

Glad to hear that you are feeling better, Deb.

Have a great evening, y'all.

Good Friday morning! LOL
Just got home and wanted to post I know the kids will be on this computer tomorrow so this is my chance!
Everyone is doing well it seems. I didn't get any form of excersise today-no bowling, roller skating or walking! tomrrow for sure. The Roller skatiing was fun my 5 yr old was cute-she is a blondie and kept saying she wanted to go back on the Ice!!! LOL i do call her "blondie" alot bad habit i think! LOL I wasn't sore at all! Being some what in shape does have benifits-my sister that is in great shape pulled a muscle bowling! she was sooooooo mad! Food wise this week i am doing well also. Baked cookies again today for a get together. I didn't touch one!!! yeah me!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif
Deb: Yeah for the anniversary-and for your friend too!!! Well what did you do with the open candy?? LOL I have 2 bars in my freezer still I get a craving then forget about it or have one little square its nice to have some control! Hope you found something nice to wear. I went to the thrift and got a few things-looking for summer stuff now in a size smaller-wishful thinking! I have to admit when i put on a pair of pants i bought that didn't fit when i bought them and are now big its a great feeling! One feeling i like ALOT :D
Sas-Andover is about 45-60 minutes from me! Maybe we could meet half way sometime when you get here!! How old are your kiddos? Let me know when you get here and settled and if you have any questions. How close to work will hubby be? I though you said he would be working in Boston? Its been awhile i forget stuff easily! LOL Good luck with the move. Maybe we can get into chat some day and make some plans or just talk about this Wonderful state! LOL
Happy-hope your getting a feeling for this WOE. I do Weight watchers with this program. I have fruit and starchy carbs everyday. What are you eating? I usually have my starchy carbs in the a.m or lunch time. I also try not to eat after 8:00 huh! I have a fruit and maybe a starch with peanutbutter (natural) i eat alot of egg whites with veggies in them I buy the frozen onions and peppers just throw them in with black olives that have no sugar and mushrooms. I eat a salad everyday with meat or cheese in it. I use Paul Newman light salad dressing. I don't have menus just try and watch portions and Sugar! once the sugar is cut out you will not crave those sugary carbs - Just keep going -get over the hump and you will be on your way!
cheri-congrats on the grandbaby! cant wait to see her.
mickers-the book is only sold in hard back! (i think) check the library too. I saw them on ebay also! good luck!
thinagain-sorry to hear about the baby. These things in life are hard. I always wonder why thing happen but there is always a reason. Hope your feeling better with those carbs. SOmetimes this food stuff has to take a backseat. ((hugs))
Glory-wooooooooo hooooooooo!! gotta love those goals! even if you don't make them it won't hurt trying right?!
quilter-yeah for the 2 lbs!!!!!
viv- As far as the WW thing! I never really told them i am doing the Sugarbuster thing. Its real funny that in the new year they changed the program-really pushing the Whole wheat-adding points for carrots and onions (because of the sugar!) I do try to give suttle hints to people that i am TRYING to not eat added sugar and that it really is a trigger for me. They also have new way to count the points in which you decide how many carbs you need and protien ect...So i think they are getting the sugar thing at WW. How is hockey going? are you ready for the week end??? Hope you have fun! even if you don't you can act like u did! lol
Hope you all had a good chat :( someday i will get to talk to you all! LOL Have a great week end if i don't make it back! :D

OH MY GOSH . . . I totally forgot about the chat last night. Man, am I mad at me right now!!!!! How did it go? What did I miss???? Made the mistake of watching survivor in bed and was so warm and comfy that I just stayed there the rest of the evening. Talk about your basic slug!!!! Sorry, gals, I'm going to have to put an alarm in my Palm Pilot as a reminder for next week.

Busy day off today. Be back later.

Morning,
Quick note to GATOR...I don't like those beans. They shouldn't even be considered "green beans" THERE IS NO BEAN IN THEM!!!! So, I can't tell you what your results would be. The cabbage would probably be good. How are you going to cook it?

QUILTER....Nice thought, I'm not buying it!
It was a short chat for me. I got kicked off and almost didn't get back on...Now I've got to investigate to see if there is a timer on the virtual machine....hope not!

Good morning Ladies :)

It seems my fingers can't type today I keep making mistakes :( anyway I'll just make this a short but sweet one. I'm happy with this WOE and am on track and everything is going good. Short enough? You wish, yes I have more to say, I always have more to say.

Deb: Way to go girl, I'm so excited for you a MEDIUM wow I just can't wait tell it's my turn. I have a neice that's getting married in May and I haven't seen her or her Sisters sence Aug. so I'm trying to stay away from them all so that I can surprise them, I'm waiting tell the wk befor the wedding to get my dress so that I will be able to get a smaller size. I'll actually buy one that fits. I haven't bought anything yet I just keep wearing the same old baggies. It's going to be fun. Please tell Sharon shes welcome and to keep up the good eating.

Cheri: I try not to think of this as a Diet but as a way of life then it's easy to do. You have so many more choises on this than any other i've done. And believe me i've been at this sence I was a teenager doing Dietpills and i'm an old lady of 52 now so. this is the one. and it really works. I can't tell you the change in my life with this one. So you hang in there. it's good one and with all the support you can't go wwrong.

Big Ornage: I love the thrift shops I'm alway looking for old dishes, it's my thing. Only came up empty this time. I did however find a Card holder designed by Michael Grabes who is one of the Building designers for Disney. It was complet with 2 decks of cards never been open and only cost me $1.99. pretty good. We play pinocole all the time. and I alway missplace the cards so now I won't.

Susy: i'm so sorry about the Baby, I've had a misscarriage in the past right before I had my daughter she is now 15. and I know how hard it is. My prayers go out to you and your hubby. you hang in there and know that your support is here for you. God Bless

Well Ladies I guess that really does it today for me. Have a good one. love ya Glory

Here's Frog with your Fitness Friday Report

FEELING RUN DOWN?
Maybe you need to…
“Iron it Out?”

If your energy levels seems constantly low, despite rest, your problem may be a waning iron levels. Iron is a mineral everyone needs, a low iron level is commonly called anemia. With less than ample iron in our tissues, the body can’t properly break down carbohydrates and fats. The result: Energy production is compromised. No wonder people with low iron levels are tired all the time!

WOMEN LOSE IRON THROUGH VIGOROUS EXERCISE AND HEAVY MENSTRUAL PERIODS.

The best way to guard against anemia is to beef up your diet:
** SEE RED. You can obtain iron from some green leafy vegetables, beans, whole grains, and fortified cereals, but the iron found in lean red meat is absorbed best. Red meat also promotes the absorption of iron from other foods.
** STOCK-UP ON VITAMIN C. This will help boost iron absorption from beans, cereals and other iron containing foods.
AVOID COFFEE, TEA AND RED WINE WITH MEALS. The tannins in these beverages interfere with iron absorption.
TALK WITH YOUR DOCTOR REGARDING IRON SUPPLEMENTS. When taking iron supplements no improvement occurs if you already have adequate iron levels. And since too much iron may increase your risk of cardiovascular disease, particularly for men, don’t consider iron supplementation until you talk to your doctor. You’ll need to request a blood test that checks hemoglobin, hematocrit, and serum ferritin.

(Excerpt from Runner’s World, February 2001, Fast Lane Article by Ed Eyestone.)

And that's your Fitness Friday Report for February 23, 2001. Good Day!

Hi Busting People!!!! Hope this entrance to the weekend has been good for you. My Fridays are usually good . . . day off, you know. Just wanted to say thanks for all the support. I feel like I’m totally 100% back on the program. I’ve been writing down everything I eat in my palm pilot. So that list gets looked at alot. I am trying to work on my portion controls a bit. I think that’s the main reason I haven’t been losing very fast. I feel great!!!! Sometimes on the way home from work Paul and I discuss what’s going to be happening at dinner. Even though the thought of fast food or pizza sounds very easy, I immediately dismiss it. Don’t even really want to go there. I feel like eating anything “white” is sort of like a betrayal to me and to all of you who are also working your little behinds off. Anyways, we’re going to my bros tonight for the weekend. SIL already asked what we could eat. I’m taking my book (in hopes of loaning it to them), plus our bread and other SB legal things. I want them to see how easy it is to select proper food. Also made my yummy brown rice with veggies and will share that. I’m kind of expecting my bro to turn his nose up at it, but you never know. It really is pretty tasty. Am also taking my SF choco. syrup so that I can have choco milk in case they get the ice cream out. I’ll need something to take my mind off of that.

KAREN---Great question about the scales. I’ve been wondering about that myself. Did I tell you I somehow screwed up the cabbage recipe. It came out way too sweet. Sometimes I am a terrible cook, then again other nights I do okay.

AMS---Hope you will like the bagless model. It does have great sucking power. And if you don’t have any long haired dogs, you won’t have to worry about my problem.

JOY---Glad to hear that your uncomfortable lump was nothing more than an uncomfortable lump. Bet you’re breathing a sigh of relief. I have a cyst on my thyroid that I’ve had biopsied twice and will continue to do so. Never really expect it to be anything with the C word, but always breathe a little easier when the tests come back. Now if your wrist would stop hurting you’d be right as rain. Right???

VIV---You passed up a McD milkshake??? My gosh, woman, you are a goddess of strength!!! Way to go!!! I wish you were feeling better and not so puffy feeling. Question: how much water are you drinking???? Also are you drinking any pop??? I find that even a diet pop will give me some backlash in the bloating area. Anyways, hope you get this all straightened out soon. Did you chat last night? Looks like you got your wish last night when Kimmy was voted out. Take that dirty neck and hit the road!!!

DEB---Congrats on your 11 month anniversary! That’s really terrific!!! What a difference a year makes, huh? I read your statement about Sharon’s enormous loss is 6 weeks and nearly fell off my chair. What is that woman doing??? She needs to get on this board and tell all . . . . very soon. Losing so much must really make her feel good. Give her my congrats and a high five! Thanks for the new recipes. Am excited about the pitas.

BUNNY & DEB---I am right there with you both on accepting compliments. It’s always been so hard for me and I know it’s because I can’t remember a time in my life when I was satisfied or happy about the way I looked. Let’s try to shed those old habits and say we are GLORIOUS BEAUTIFUL WOMEN!!! (Oooo, that made me feel really uncomfortable, oh well baby steps!)

ANNETTE---Thanks for your kind thoughts abou Jackie. She’s off to the dr this afternoon to hear what her next step will be. So much info to handle on such an emotional subject. She said her head was spinning and could not process everything at once.

GLORY---I have a niece getting married in May also. Ours is the 12th. When is yours????

FROG--Are you feeling better??? Thanks for the article. Such important information that we all need to incorporate into our days. Thanks for posting it.

ORANGE---What do you mean you’re “not buying it”?????? Ha!!!! You think you are pretty smart, dontcha? Tell Skeeter that cousin Maddie sends woofs his way. Glad to know his eye is healing. Here’s a story about big M. She loves the next door neighbors because they give her scraps and just treat her like she’s theirs. Unfortunately, they left for FL for 3 months in January. Maddie still stares up at the back door everytime she goes outside. It’s really quite sad that someone with that much beauty could be so stupid. She just doesn’t get it. Poor thing.

Well, gals, don’t know if I’ll get to post much this weekend. DH will take his laptop with us. (I call it his mistress, because it’s by his side more than I am!) So I may get on for a bit, but won’t want to tie up their phone line for too long. I may just lurk and jump on to say “hey.” Hope everybody has a great weekend. Let’s all be victorious over our cravings when they sneak up, just give them a solid kick!

Two quick things I forgot!

OVERCOME----I ordered the TM book rack this morning. Yea!!!!! Hope it's here before we leave on vacation. I'm so excited to get it. I really think this will help me get on and stay on without being bored to tears. Thanks for sharing such a great thing!!!

You guys probably already know this, but I just figured it out today. I haven't had huge successes with cooking the brown rice. Sure I doctor it up and make it taste better, but I was NOT happy with its consistency. Too mushy and clumpy. Today I cooked it in my old Black and Decker Handy Steamer and it came out perfect. Really flakey and not a bit sticky. I've had that steamer for years but haven't used it lately and honestly forgot about it. So if any of you are in the same boat as I was, try the steamer idea. I'm wondering if it would do as well in a microwave rice cooker/steamer. I'd just been doing mine on top of the stove before today.

That's it. Gotta run.

Hi everyone! I hope you all are feeling better than me... still dying with this chest cold. Talked to my doctor today, but since i don't have a fever, he says I don't need antibiotics... Geez, how much longer can this go on??? I have had it for going on 8 weeks - seems like there is something I could do.

Deb: You are welcome for the address. I think you will like both places. I forgot there is another nice HF store called Harvest House. One in Daytona and one in Ormond. Big Fat Congrats on your anniversary!

Susy: I am soooo sorry about your baby. i will keep you in my prayers.

Quilter: Hope Jackie got more good news today. I am sure all of it has been very stressful.

Glory: I sent you an e-mail today, so I will just say hello

Meadow: how are you doing so far? I hope you are finding this woe as easy as I am.

I caught something above about sour dough bread. Are we allowed to eat that? I love it! I would love to have that for toast. I bought the Ekzeile or whatever it is and I don't care for it at all. i will leave it in the freezer for toast with peanutbutter, but that is about all of it I think I can handle. I like the Nature's own 100% stone ground with no sugar added. It is so much softer.

well I am going back to bed! Hello to everyone else! Sorry not to make a note to each of you, but not up to it today!

Hi Everyone! :D

I haven't been on all day long, can't believe it! And, I didn't do anything all day long either, well, nothing but go to Marhsall's. I'm feeling better, less coughing and nose blowing, but I am soooo drained, all I want to do is SLEEP http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sleep.gif I feel like a bump on a log!

Anyone have any insight on being sick and it delaying your period? I'm almost a week overdue-trust me, I know I'm not pregnant, that would be a death sentence for me, but I wonder what effect being sick has on that TOM-any ideas?? I'm also up a pound today, but I'm not going nuts over it, hopefully it's hormonal. I haven't even had any water today, not a drop-no desire, so this doesn't help my WL.

Bought an adorable pair of pants, unusual color though and may have trouble finding a top to go with it. Anyhow, they are a Petite Medium -yipee!!!

SAS, I hope the move goes very smoothley for you. It's great the kids are excited about the temporary move-it sure is a lot of work! I hope you get everything unpacked quickly, esp. the computer!!!

QUILTER, congrats on the 2lb loss you had! What do you think happened on Survivor with someone getting hurt-on next week's show. The preview shows a helicoptor coming in-should be a good show. Jerri was spared, Kimmi was ousted-I can't believe they'd even consider putting a vegetarian out there. Put me out there, it would be weight-loss heaven!!!!! Sounds like a nice weekend is planned and you've planned ahead to stay on track - good job! Sharon is following SB as well. She really doesn't have interest in being on the board, it's just not her style, but she does show interest when she's here with me. Does your steamer have the clear insert for rice? I have a steamer and I have no ideas what to do with that little clear bowl!!!

ANNETTE, sorry you missed last night's chat - next week I'll make sure I double remind you! WOW, I think you are the first person to say they didn't like the EZEKEIL'S bread- I only use it for toast, too heavy to use for a sandwich I think, and forget about making french toast out of it - YUCK! Yes, you are allowed sourdough. Sharon and I found a great brand called RUDI'S at the HFS, you should see if they carry it up your way. Hope you are feeling better today, 8 weeks is ridiculous-I better not be sick that long!!!

GATOR, that truly stinks about the AOL chat thing-thank goodness we have the new chat room. I hope you are able to access it easier. It's not a perfect program, but it sure is better than nothing. Have you been using your Powerbelt???

RHROO, no open candy here-I have 8 bars, but they are all still sealed. Are you joking, if I open one, it will surely be gone, or at least I think it would - I'm afraid to tempt fate! Maybe it won't affect me as I think once I try some, but I am sooo scared it will!!

GLORY, I'm sure your family will be so surprised when you go to the wedding in May. I hope you find something really beautiful to show of the new body!!!

FROG, great article. I know personally that I am low on some nutrients and need to bring them up to par. I need more Selenium, Phosphorus and Magnesium. I use to be low in Iron, but I think I've helped remedy that situation.

Well gals, I'm going to scrounge up something for the kids for dinner. I'll try to check in later if I'm up. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!

Big Orange--LOL! You are such a southern gal. I loved your comment about the beans. I think if I cook 'em long enough, maybe they'll be like southern beans. I'll let you know. As for the cabbage, I'll just cut it in small chunck, like fried cabbage, and then saute it a bit, add the Wiley's and a little H2O and cook a bit more. I'll let you know on that too. I don't have any cabbage on hand.

I was watching one of those gourmet cooking shows--Great Chefs of the US and I saw one of them fix zucchini just like we had here when the SB gals were here in Orlando. Very thinly julienned on his mandoline, and he sauteed them in butter instead of putting them in hot water. But he just did it enough to warm them up. He called it zucchini spaghetti.

Suzy, I send hugs and tears. I'm sad with you and will keep you in my prayers.

I saw an article in USA Today about CRE--or Chronic Restrained Eating. It showed people that knew that they could not just diet and go back to "pigging out." So, they were always vigilant about how and what they ate; it truly was a WOE. When they got to goal, they could enjoy occasional treats like ice cream--but in moderation and only occasionally. For me, I always either on a diet, where I was very controlled, or off a diet, where there was no control. So this reminds me that this is a lifestyle.

Its chilly here in Orlando today, and overcast. I miss those 80 degree days we've had this week. My DH is in Gainesville and won't be back till tomorrow. I had an early dinner, will clean up the pans, and then that's it for the food today. Yea!

Y'all have a great Saturday. I have an all day meeting tomorrow and won't get back till 6 or 7. I hope to get back on the board tomorrow night.

Debelli--got any sexy duds yet for your new sexy bod? Go for it, gal!

Real quick as we are literally walking out the door . . .

DEB---Survivor: That was a real cliff hanger they left us with. DH and I were trying to remember who we saw standing around after they showed the helicopter. Roger & Elizabeth and I think Michael said something too. Do you remember any of that??? But we don’t remember seeing the girl who is the fitness trainer. The one who got into it with Kimmy. So it could have been her. She's bossy, but I like her. I guess bossy is okay, but bossy and malipulative isn't. Steamer: Yes, the clear plastic bowl is for the rice. Don’t use the drip tray in the base and fill the steamer to hi. If you still have your book, there are instructions in there. I used their rice to water ratio which for brown was 1 cup of rice to 1 1/4 cup of water in the clear bowl. Just set it down into that other clear container with the holes in the bottom. (I’m assuming you have one similar to mine.) Then I cooked it for about 55 minutes. Perfection! Good luck.

CATHY---I just take a multi-vitamin that I get from Walgreens. And I also take calcium, 500 mg that also has vitamin D. I usually only take one, because I eat a lot of yogurt and always drink milk every day. I’m not sure this is enough, but I heard that your body can’t process calcium if you go over.

Gotta go guys. Talk to you later.
Kim

Me again! Kids let me on the computer-such sweet darlings they are

CATHY, I just recently started taking a multivitamin when I looked at the report I got on FITDAY.COM. I found it at THE VITAMIN SHOPPED, called Esp. for Women. I'm sure any good multivitamin will do the trick-I mentioned above that I am very low on 3 nutrients, so I may get supplements for those 3.

GATOR, I doubt I'll ever wear anything sexy on this body. Have to feel the part to wear the part. It's funny, when I look at my thighs, I see them as tree trunks, but when I see them in a mirror at a store, they look small. My visualization of myself stinks, and it's something I need to work on after I lose the weight. One thing at a time. Then, I'll work on the clothes. I still find myself going to the large sized dept of stores-I'm a work in progress I guess!

QUILTER, thanks Kim for explaining the rice part of my steamer. I got it at a garage sale, no book, so had no idea how to use it. It's a B&D brand too. I'll have to try it with the specs you mentioned. I honestly don't remember who was on at the end of Survivor, I guess we'll just have to wait and see-I hate being kept in suspense!!! Can you believe, we'll be meeting in just 2 weeks!!!

Sharon is coming over this evening-she'll probably spend the weekend here with me, anywhere but where her husband is, which is home. Tomorrow I have to go to a lunch for my Aunt's 94th B.day and Sunday is dinner at Mom's, I'm hoping her friend will make the zuchinni dish I just love!!!

I'm outta here, again!

Susy: How are you doing? I hope you have support around you!

Gator: I didn't realize you live in Orlando; I guess I just assumed you were in Gainesville. What do you do for a living that you had to go to a conference? Just curious!

Viv: I would take your start weight for a goal weight!! LOL... way to go with your loss! Have fun on your weekend!

Hey, guys!

We are all getting ready to go shopping and "what not" and I have a few seconds to scan. We are having a really nice time. Played cards last night. Guys beat the girls. Ugh . . . I think they cheat. LOL

VIV---Oh my gosh girl, I am crying with you!!! Being in the 130's is SO where I want to be. I am so glad for you. You are doing well. And I'm relieved that the evil TOM torture went away. You must be flying high.

Has anybody ever notices cravings coming on at the mid-month point??? It seems to have worked that way for me this month. I am going to keep track of when cravings hit and see if there is a pattern here. Because even though I ate that ice cream and cookies on February 9, my cravings JUST went away this week. So do you think the cravings would have been from the overdue major shut down on the 9th? It seems like a long time for that ick to et out of my body. Anyways, then I got to thinking about the mid-month and thought that might hae been the problem.

ORANGE---Met a guy this morning who's daughter lives in Knoxville and is a huge UT fan. Made me think of you! We're off to super Walmart. I'm hoping to come out of there with LOTS of Wileys. I'll let you know.

Have a great Saturday. I'll be around.

WHERE IS EVERYONE???

Getting ready to go the WFS to pick up some different kinds of grains. I'm also going to try rice in my steamer. I think I have the same one you do Kim & Deb..have never fixed rice in it though. I'm always up for something new! wonder if grains can be cooked in it as well. I know I have the book somewhere...BUT WHO KNOWS WHERE???

Kim: I sure do hope you find your Wileys...I should be getting a salary from the company as much promoting as I do!

Deb: I think I ignored your question about the fires yesterday. No they aren't blowing this way right now. The wind is going above Tampa but supposed to change when a front comes thru today. That poor man who was burning trash that got this one started is sure in a lot of trouble. Over a million dollars a day to fight this thing, and he is being sued to PAY!! They have formally charged him, and the bad thing? HE'S A VOLUTEER FIREMAN!!! Should have known better!

OK, QUESTION OF THE DAY.... http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif

I have got to stop consuming dairy for a while to see if I can get rid of this bloat!
I've been told that in just two weeks I will be able to see a difference. Anyone out there use "fake milk & cheese" products? Are there any that taste good?
The sugar content in these "milks" look high. Is it natural sugar?

I'm going to be posting some really good vegetarian recipes on the board. I DON'T LIKE TOFU, so there won't be anything like that. I like the casseroles and such..Probably won't be today unless I get back and have a lot of time to do it. SO, keep checking...you'll like them!

I'll click more later.....

Good Saturday everyone!

It's really crappy weather in Wisconsin today, but DH and I are going out with friends tonight for dinner. I will be OP! I just hope we don't get the THUNDERSTORMS that they are predicting.

Deb, thanks for answering my question on the scales. I understand what you are saying, but I got a digital anyway. The reason: on the mechanical scale if I didn't like the number, I can move it around or just tell myself that it's the lower number. The digital will just give me a number, even though I might not like it. The kind I bought said that under normal use (not in a clinic, etc.) the batter should last for life. We'll see if that's true. So far, I like what the number say!

Kim - sorry the cabbage didn't turn out. I've never made it with the artificial sweetener, so that might be the reason. I'm sure your cooking abilities are just fine.

Something to ponder from the January/February issue of Health magazine:

A New Reason to Skip Refined Carbs

If Americans eat less fat than 30 years ago, why are we plumper than ever and much more likely to have heart disease? In a little-noticed study published last year, Harvard researchers turned up at least a partial explanation: Refined carbohydrates may be as bad for the heart as saturated fats--or even worse.
Boston internist Limin Liu and colleagues at the School of Public Health analyzed the eating habits of 75,000 women over ten years to track the effects of foods with a high glycemic load, a fancy description for the starchy carbos that send blood sugar soaring. Included are culprits you might expect, like white bread and white rice, but also suprises, like potatoes and low-fiber cereals. Women whose diets were highest in those foods had an 85% greater risk of heart attack than those who ate the least. (No one was shunning carbs: Even the women at the low end were eating the equivalent of about three potatoes or four slices of white bread a day.)
The increased incidence of heart disease was most pronounced amoung women who were mildly to moderately overweight. "Those women were doing exactly what the dietary guidelines tell them to do," says Liu. "Consume less fat and alcohol and more complex carbos. But they weren't paying attention to the type of carbohydrate." Their favorites: white bread, soda pop, mashed potatoes, corn flakes, and the like.
Why such starches (primarily those that are highly refined) make trouble for the heart is not yet fully understood. Evidence does suggest that easily digested foods that dump torrents of sugar into the bloodstream may reduce levels of good cholesterol, raise tryglyceride levels, and interfere with the body's ability to use insulin.
Liu stresses that he isn't indicating all carbohydrates. His research also shows that foods with a low glycemic load--such as whole grain breads and cereals, fruits, vegetables, and legumes--may, if anything, help to keep the heart healthy and the arteries clear.

I think that's a pretty interesting little article. Also, for those who like to read, the current issue of Women's World features Delta Burke and how she lost weight. From the article, it appears she was pretty much doing a SB type of WOE. Guess we're in good company!!!!

Have a great weekend!

have you all missed me????? Gosh, I haven't posted since Thursday. I don't even know where I've been.

It's been snowing all day... perfect for making cookies and non program treats. But I haven't.... think I might try some oatmeal cookies later.

I want to mention that if you are taking an iron supplement, DO NOT take it with your Vitamin C. The Vitamin C will negate the iron. I learned that last summer when I had surgery, and massive blood loss, and had to take iron.

Today I got on the rowing machine. Five minutes was my limit. Boy am I a woos or what? I'm going to add 1 minute every day. Also, I've found a stomach routine that really has helped. Lie flat on your bed, and try to force your navel to your back bone, and hold it to the count of 10. It really does feel good, and I'm seeing a difference.

I hope everyone is feeling better, doing well, and having fun!!!

Hey Everyone :)

I'm BACK>>> Feeling better and work has calmed down some. I was able to walk today for the first time in about 2 weeks. It felt great but boy am I tired. I went 3 miles at a slow pace for me and was exhausted afterwards. I tell you the thing that is bothering me the most is my house is a mess and my sister is coming next week for a visit. I just haven't had the time to catch up on everything. I miss having the energy I use to. I have coughed and coughed until my ribs hurt. I finally broke down and got an antibiotic two days ago and feel much better. Should have done it sooner.

I haven't been able to keep up with everyone and still don't have everyone's IM loaded on my machine. I will try to catch up next week.

My weight has stayed ok...being sick helped.

See ya'll tomorrow.

Hi again! I just had to write to complain about something that happened today. My hubby wanted to go to the movies. Now I have always been a popcorn nut, so I new it would be a high risk situation for me. But, I looked up the g rate and decided that it was not worth it... So, I measured out 1/2 ounce of my choclov and took 2 pieces of american cheese. So, we are at the snack counter and I order diet pepsi and my hubby orders regular pepsi and popcorn. I am one of those people who really can't tell the difference between aspartame and sugar. So, you got it, I took two huge gulps before my hubby tried his and I had the regular pepsi. I was so mad!!!!

I am sure you can all relate. I have been so good and I didn't need some idiot to spoil the whole day. I was proud of myself though because I didn't just throw it all away and eat popcorn... I certainly contemplated it though. I will be more careful in the future.

Orange: we can smell the fires here near Daytona! Between the Dale Earnhart stuff, the constant smoke and the drout index, things are not really great around here.

I know that I sound like a real downer, so I will get off... Just needed to vent! Tomorrow will be a better sb day!

Hi gals, Hope y'all had some good losses today! :)
I went to an all day meeting north of Tampa and had to drive over early in the morning. I-4, the main east-west hiway across the state, is closed because of bad fires near the road. The fire has gotten down in the muck, the vegetation at and below ground level. and apparently the fire will just keep burning until some good rain douses it. We did not get very much smoke on the ride over. But on the way back you could see the smoke pretty well. Didn't smell it very much, tho. I'm exhausted because it was a long and busy day and I had to do a lot of thinking. Got home about 6:30 and my DH was still in Gainesville, so I had dinner alone. :( Leftovers.
Just wanted to "check in" before I hit the hay. Talk tomorrow.

Hi everyone-
A few things...First a question..I know that regular oatmeal is recommended, not instant oatmeal. Exactly how "bad" is instant oatmeal? I have a whole box of it and would like to use it up.

Next, why are berries allowed to be eaten with food? Due to the way they digest?

AND...what do you think of this? My friend told me today she was reading in a health mag that when women lose weight they tend to lose it from the top down. That is why some women complain they lose weight in their breast, exactly where they don't need to lose any!! ALSO, once women reach their goal weight, it takes about six weeks for our bodies to redistribute the weight. So if your thighs still look heavy after reaching your goal weight, wait six weeks and it will even out. I had heard of the losing from the top down, but redistributing the weight????? I think that'd be great but sounds kinda fishy. Any comments on that???

Has anyone had any side effects from using Splenda. I've had a stomach ache two nights in a row after eating the apple pie recipe I posted on the recipe board yesterday. I don't think Spelnda could cause a stomach ache! Who knows. It does have an aftertaste. I think I'll only use it in VERY small quantaties.

Off to bed. Enjoy the rest of your weekend everybody!! Hope all you ppl feeling under the weather are starting to FEEL BETTER!! :)

See you tomorrow!!
Ashley

Hey Everyone! :D

Haven't had the chance to post all day, had the party for my Aunt this afternoon-food was yuck, was at her Temple, so it was Kosher, need I say more???

VIV, are you sure your kid isn't Jewish, with the Oy Vey! LOL!! I'm so happy the scales finally move the right way for you-patience paid off!!

ANNETTE, glad to have that little chat with you this evening. Let me know if you and Barb get together!! Make her play chop sticks for you!!!!! Don't worry about the soda, that little bit won't hurt you, but it will keep you on your toes for next time. What movie did you see??

QUILTER, I totally understand about the cravings during those TOM. I usually eat more carbs than normal during these times. All legal, but too many. Like today! I forgot to answer your question, you will LOVE Trader Joes-and I'll be envious when you go!!! Are you going before you come to Miami??? If so, I definitely have a list of things I need, if not, I'll still tell you so you can buy them for yourself when you go!!

BIGO, so what interesting things did you buy today?? I'm sure those grains will cook in the steamer, just my take longer than rice. Still seeing about those fires up there and the 10 mile of I-4 closing-that must be such a big pain! We have a few fires down here, but nothing like up that way. I don't bother with fake meat or cheese, but 1 cheese I use is the Cabot 75% reduced fat cheese - if you want, I can go to BJ's and get a bar for you if you want - let me know!!!

KAREN, glad to see you got a scale, and you like the numbers it began with. Have your OH stand behind you and lift your love handles up-takes a good 10lbs off right away!! LOL!! Thanks for posting that article, it seems more and more things are being written like this, like DUH! They are finally learning!!!

JOY, but of course, you were missed!! How's the wrist?? I'll have to try sucking my belly button in-it's not my original belly button, you think it will still work??????

BEACH, glad to hear you are feeling better-I hope to get my walk in tomorrow, I've been sooo tired with no energy. Trust me , I know EXACTLY how you feel!!

GATOR, sorry to hear you got stuck in the mess on I-4! Did you ever get to WARDS in Gainsville??

OVERCOME, the instant oatmeal is a definite no-no, give it to someone. You are right, berries pass very quickly through your digestive system which is why you can eat them with your meals-great with yogurt! Not sure about the redistributing of weight or losing from the top down. I think the redis. is bologna, because I know that since I had fat cells taken out of my stomach, when I gained weight, it was mostly everywhere else, but in my stomach! My experiences with Splenda is that I gained weight when I consumed too much, so I cut it out.

Well gals, I have a full day tomorrow. I'll check in sometime during the day. Dinner at Moms-haven't had to cook all weekend, I love it!!!

Have a great weeekend!

RHOO:
We definitely WILL have to get together! I've been looking on the net to try to see what kind of grocery stores are in the area. Not too much luck. DID find that the Trader Joes in Tyngsboro will be closest to me. Where are you?? I've probably already asked that one, but with the move and all, I have a major brainfart! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif

DEB: Packers will be packing up this ol' pooter Monday. I haven't heard how long it will take the movers to get to MA, but I have a feeling it will be at least a week and a half. Maybe more, but hope not. We will get it set up ASAP; My 13 y.o. will really need to get on and get her school work done. The move will kick her about 2 weeks behind. SO, that will motivate us to get it set up quickly! I'm anxious to join ya'll in a chat!

Hey all!

Things are improving greatly for me. I went ot a store called Moonflower Magicks. Lots of incense, overpriced candles, books and jewelry. I bought some cadles, incense, garnet earrings and Angel cards. Went to Taco Del Mar dfor a taco salad. Passed by the "fruit nectars" and cookies.

I'm doing much better. Thank you all for all your kind words and love. It would have been really rough without my cyberpals. :)

So now I can focus on my 1yo. He's going to have eye surgery to correct his crossing eyes. Any love and prayers you want to toss out to Christopher would be greatly appreciated.

All this calls to mind a quote attributed to Mother Theresa: "God gives us only what we can handle. Sometimes I wish he didn't trust me so much." :)

Did anyone wax poetic about Trader Joe's? I know someone (please forgive me for not remembering who) asked about it. TJ's is a great place with organic foods at amazing prices. They also carry Valrhona chocolate (that's SB legal, don'cha know). http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//love.gif They also have a listing of their non-sugar added foods, but you still need to read the labels because high fructose corn syrup or other illegal sweeteners are used. But it's a lto fo fun to shop there.

Speaking of shopping, we got our tax refund this week.

What a dork! :P and  I punched the submit key before i was done. Lucky it wasn't all deleted.

As I was saying, we got our tax refund this week. and have we been shopping. Bought new stainless steel cookware and a bathroom scale! Ta-Dah! Now I don't have to wait until I get to the Boeing Rec Center with their gargantuan scale that hates me. No really, it does. It weighs me sooo heavy. So now, my official weight is 225.

I'm surprised too. After tonight, I was hesistant to get on it. My 1yo, Christopher, turned 1 year old today and we had some friends over. Terry, the patriarch of the Barton family, loves scotch. He picked up a 90, yes, 90 dollar bottle of the stuff and brought it over. I lvoe scotch and i must say that stuff was very nice. Only had a couple of sips, though. Passing out out a 1yo birthday party would have been bad form, huh? "rolleyes:

My Dh also picked up some very nice pale ale. Only had a sip of that too. I was pretty good and limited myself to two glasses  of red wine. We were planning on visiting our neighbor's Mardi Gras party but we were too pooped to play. My almost 5yo had his buddy with him and they were non-stop for about 5 hours! Where do they get all the energy?

The place where we got the cookware is called Cost Plus. They have lots of imported stuff. I picked up a couple of wool scarves for 5 bucks. While my friend, Joan was sitting around (she is the matriarch of teh Barton family), I plopped a purple scarf on her. For me? she asked. yeah. Oh thanks. Anfter we quibbled about which color looked better on her (she got the purple one... :( ) she
looked at the price tag. Now remember I only paid 5 bucks for these. She gasped. I wondered what that was aobut, then I look at the tag. $30! Thirty bucks for a strip of cloth! I then 'fessed up about only paying five. My DH was ready to march me back to the store to return them. What a bargain.

Well, it's late or rather quite early. I need to get back to bed.

Thanks everyone for all your love and support. I don't think I would have made it through all this near as well without you. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//love.gif (hey is it possible to get a kissy-face smilie?)

Later.

MORNING. EVERYONE!!!!

Hope everybody had a great Saturday. We're still at my bros (will leave for home after lunch today so I'll make this short and sweet.

THIN---I'll keep wee Christopher in my prayers that his eye surgery will be a success and that he will not be in any pain. (I hate to see the little guys in pain!!!) Keep us posted on his progress. I've had many friends whose children have needed that andit's always come out fine.

ORANGE---I GOT THE WILEY'S!!!! I got 3 of the Bean and Pea, one greens seasoning, and a dirty rice packet. Mmmmmm. I can't wait to get home and try them. Now that I've got the right stuff, what do I do next. I was thinking of trying kale . . . what do you do with it????

DEB---Bought some brown rice with my SIL yesterday. She just got this steamer that you use inthe microwave, but there wre no directions for br rice. We put it in for 32 minutes rotating every 8 minutes. It burned so bad . . . I think her steamer is ruined! The bottom of it got all black and indented andsome rice was embedded in it. Boo hoo! I felt so bad about it. I'm sticking to my B&D steamer!Needless to say the rice was a sight . . . went straight downthe garbage disposal.

CATHY---We were in Castleton last night and I thought of you and hoped you were enjoying your new little love. I saw a new Starbucks that sits up close tothe road in a building by itself. It was on 82nd street. Do you know that one? Is that the oneyou were talking about? Just getting prepared for our next visit.

We've been having a nice relaxing visit. Went to Outback for dinner last night. Two hour wait . . . Ugh!! But spent most of that time in Half Price Books and even got a book for FREE in there. But back to outback. I know now why I've heard such wonderful reports about that place. The food was fantastic. Got the salmon, steamed veggies (I love when they are fresh and not frozen) and a salad. It was really a great meal. I did try a couple pieces of the blooming onion. Not a big onion ring fan, but it looked so interesting. Know that batter wasn't made with ww flour though, so I'm chastising my self for that. Otherwise we have been really really true to the program. Paul got a sweet potato instead of the regular. Bless his heart, he's really trying!
Get this . . . Paul and I were discussing something about the menu having too much sugar and he said something about he knew the diet we were talking about and then gave us a recommendation as to what Paul should get. Like he told him to get the br. sugar on the side because that would negate the sw potato. Funny, huh?

Well, have a great day you all. I'll try to get on when we get home tonight. Take care, everyone!

MORNING LADIES :D

QUILTER: DON'T GO TO COLUMBUS YET....THE STORE ISN'T EVEN BUILT!!!!
Glad you got the Wiley's...NOW, I use a pressure cooker for everything..beans, collards, kale.....with your beans, it's one package for every TWO LBS of beans...I put my beans in the sink and wash them, THEN, I scoop them out by two hand fulls at a time.
(remember, I cook 6lbs at a time) I put at least one double hand full then I put all the seasoning on top of them...THEN I finish filling the pot with the beans. DO NOT ADD ANY WATER...there is enough on the beans to raise the pressure and cook...I then put 1 to 2 tbs of canola oil drizzled over the top.
Let the pressure build and when the jiggle starts, turn heat down from high to medium and cook for 20 minutes. Let the steam off and using a big spoon, use a "folding" motion to coat all the beans with the liquid in the bottom of the pot. THEN, turn the heat back up and cook the water down..
The Kale I do the same way, but there is no way you can get 2 lbs of kale in a pressure pot. I usually try to buy at least 5lbs of kale and then divide it (after pulling the leaf from the stalk) using two packages of seasoning. Put it in the pot the same way as the beans. There will be enough water to cook. I use the same time limit...and the same amount of oil added.
REMEMBER...this is for a PRESSURE COOKER...mine is a 6qt size.....
I can't think of anything for you to bring me from KROGER...I just really miss shopping at that store. I used to love their brand of coffee (before I got hooked on ELI'S BRAND).

BEACH: so glad you're feeling a little better. Don't worry about your house..surely your sister will understand! If you get to bustling around, you'll just get sick again!
A question for you...if I use a soy milk, will it give me the same BLOAT as skim milk?

Annette: We were lucky this week, and didn't get the smoke. It's just about out now and I-4 is expected to reopen tomorrow.
I take it by Debs post that you've contacted Barb>?

ASHLEY: You can do REAL oatmeal in the microwave just like the instant. Takes about 3 minutes to cook, but it's just as good.

SARA: I know you're excited to go, but I sure don't envy your having to unpack and put away! Be CAREFUL on your trip and PLUGIN
as SOON AS YOU CAN....we'll miss clicking with you!

DEB: TEMPLE TWICE IN ONE WEEK????? You're on a roll...they will be expecting you on a regular basis if you don't watch out http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif
Thanks for the offer on the cheese, but I can get that at PUBLIX...AND AS FOR DOING MY SHOPPING??? HA!!!! I didn't make it to the WFS at all!! Hoping they are open today when I go by.

SUSY: we have a store like you're talking about. I love to go in there because it always smells SO GOOD!!! Can't afford to shop there though...when I do, I go crazy and buy things I shouldn't have spent the money on!
You can count on nothing but good thoughts for Christopher...He'll do fine. A friend of mine had that problem, and didn't have the surgery until after high school...He did fine, AND SO WILL CHRISTOPHER!!!

Have you all seen all the hype on that 51yr old lady they call HIGH VOLTAGE?? She has invaded the industry with a plan similar to SB, only she doesn't want you to eat ANY WHEAT either...I have to go to B&N today, and I'm going to look at her book to see the difference...She has my interest peeked!

Well, I'm going to ATTEMPT getting out and doing my errands...I hate to be this lazy...BUT SOMETIMES IT JUST FEELS GOOD!!!!

Have a great day EVERY BUDDY http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//love.gif

Happy Sunday Everyone :)

Getting back to normal. Still tired and weak after being sick. Also, very sore after the walk yesterday.

Annette: I've started telling clerks at food counters that sugar makes me deathly ill and to please be careful and give me the no sugar product. Since, I've been doing that I don't have any problems.

Gator: I've been thinking about everyone in FLA and the fires. Hope that there is some rain and that they get under control. My Red Cross friends in FLA are as overworked and stressed as I am and don't need another disaster to deal with!

Overcome: On the magazine article and the theory of weight redistributing. I know that since I have been at goal for about 6 weeks, people keep telling me how much more weight I have lost. I do think I look thinner that I did 6 weeks ago but I don't have an explanation other than the weight is redistributing. Or another thought is that my skin is shrinking to fit the weight loss. I did lose a lot in the breast area!

Sasham: Hope your move goes well. I'm thinking about you. Be sure and plan your meals, stop for healthy meals and pack a survival kit of grapes and legal fruits and snacks for the trip and for when you are unpacking. It will help you feel more in control of your circumstances.

Deb: Glad you are feeling better. The walk felt good yesterday but today I am very sore and my muscles are telling me they feel abused :( Just be ready to take some type of pain reliever for the aches.

Thinagin: My heart goes out to you. Mother Tereasa was right and God really does trust you! Just remember things always get better. I will be praying for Christopher.

Quilter: I love half price book stores. I've been sad that the one near me went out of business. It had been there forever and was just packed with good finds. I love to read and can go through a stack of books very quickly so I can't afford to buy full priced.

BigOrange: I've never tried the soy milk so I can't answer your question. Thanks for supporting me on my housework dilemma. I know I should take it easy but I'm a type A person and it is so hard!

Well guys I plan on walking again today just to keep the muscles from really getting stiff. We had a lot of rain last night but it is 70 degrees so even without the sun it will be a comfortable walk.

See ya'll tomorrow.

Good morning!!!

The sun is shining here in California, snow on the ground from yesterday.... beautiful morning!!! I love the way the sun glistens on the mountain tops.

I posted on the recipe board this morning... Barley Yogurt Pancakes. I made them this morning, and my guys liked them. They weren't as puffy as I would have liked, but they still tasted good. I got the recipe off the back of a bag of barley flour. There's also a recipe for barley brownies but it calls for 1 cup of brown sugar so I doubt I'll try that one.

I might get to Reno this week, and plan to go to Trader Joe's if I do. I'm looking forward to that.

I am having an awful time getting enough protein in my diet. What kinds of food are lowfat/high protein?????? http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//insane.gif

Hope everyone is having a happy Sunday. I think I'll go read my Bible a bit, and then do some stamping (Ashley and I share a passion.)

I'll check back later to see what's happening!!!

Good Sunday afternoon everyone! Just nabbed the computer from my son! boy can't wait till they go back to school! Today so far food wise i am doing great. Yesterday was almost a blow out-on a scale from 1-10 (10 being wonderful!) i was about a 5! We didn't end up going to friends last night with the kids sooo that saved me, but a long visit at my sister inlaws got me into a bit of trouble. She has soooo much junk hanging around. I have no self control and you know what one taste of sugar does to a girl. I hope i didn't ruin the whole week. I did take a walk yesterday and excersised almost every day last week. Today i had good intentions with excersise, but that thing called weather and life got in the way. We had some snow and now freezing rain. We all over slept and missed church http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif Then a friend called and needed a shoulder to cry on so i went to a movie with her-here is a hint don't go to a depressing movie with a depressed friend-if you do bring tissues!!!! Oh well tomorrow i will kick my butt! Everyone else seems to be busy here or gone for the week end! Hope you all do well!
Deb-Thank god for kosher food huh?! saved ya-but you seem to have the self control i don't have! You are doing sooo well getting down in those 130's! can't wait to join you!
Sas-There is another Trader Joes in NH which is not far from Andover. And a big shopping mall too!!! Maybe viv can meet us half way to sometime while you are here! I have a 14 yr old son and a 11 yr old and a 5 yr old. YOu sound excited. I hope you like cold weather! it will be warming up soon, but the mud will be here so be prepared! From what i hear from others who move here we are behind alot of schools educational wise! so maybe your daughter will be ahead when she gets here! GOOD LUCK :D
CMD-i would try those egg whites!! YUMMY I also buy light cheddar cheese. I guess our choices are limited for low fat protien! I am glad i am no sick of chicken-YET!
Beach-glad your feeling better. Hope you had a great walk-take it easy!!
Thin-you sound like your in better spirits! You sound like your having a great week end! Happy Birthday to Christopher! I know all will go well with his surgery!
Overcome-I always thought you lost fat where you don't have alot of fat first! Who knows what the body does with this stuff!!! I know with excersise my fat has spread out and i have no waist! Also since doing sugar busters i have lost some fat in places that was hard to move.
Well gotta gooooo! I am taking advantage of my computer time!!!! Hope i get to chat with someone soon!! Icheck in now and then but no one! I have ICQ but not aol thingy oh well!!! Keep up the great work! We are worth it!

Hi everyone!

I'm back from my visit with my son and his family. I have to tell you my new granddaughter is so beautiful and my grandson loves her so much. Jason and Angie, my son and daughter-in-law bought Jesse, my grandson(he's 3), a book called "I'm a big brother". Well, they have read that book to him so much that he recites it word for word. It's so cute. He wants to hug and kiss her all the time.

Kim: I know what Starbucks you are talking about. That one will be fine when you come for a visit. It's actually closer to my house than the other one. It sounds like you had a great weekend. Wish we coul have met.

Thin: I have a young cousin who went through the same surgury with her eyes. Everything went fine. You son will be in my prayers and I hope that he'll do well too.

Debbie: I thought that I read somewhere that you had a tummy tuck? This may sound weird, but I know that after I lose all of this weight, I'll have to have one and I am scared to death of having it done. Sometimes I think I even sabatoge my own weightloss because of it. Was it very bad? If I was mistaken and you were not the person that posted the surgury, I apologize. Also, I will e-mail a couple of pictures to you if you won't mind helping me to post them. Thanks.

Orange: I think you mentioned that you get bloated from having milk and you were wondering if the soy milk would do that to you. My son is vegetarian and also lactose intolerant and he drinks soy milk. All I can say is that it doesn't bloat him and with milk he was bloated and also ran to the bathroom after drinking milk or eating milk products. He did say that he had to drink the vanilla flavor and get used to it before he had the regular flavor. I'm not sure about the sugar though.

You all have a great day!

Evening Ladies :D

Well, no grains today...the store I wanted to go to wasn't open, so I'll save that for another time.
I did pick up a REALLY NICE VEGETARIAN TIMES MEDITERRANEAN COOKBOOK.... ELI would be proud! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif I went to Books-a-Million, and my mission was to look at the HIGH VOLTAGE book to see what she wants people to eat. The lady there said they had ONE LEFT and it was the large paperback edition. $15.99....I sat down and read some of it and decided to purchase...On the way to the checkout, I stopped at the bargin tables and found the cookbook (originally $26) for $5.97, LO AND BEHOLD...what did I find? THE HARDBACK EDITION OF THE HIGH VOLTAGE BOOK!!!! and what was it priced at? $4.97 http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif DEALS OF THE DAY!!! I'll read them and then let you know what I think.

Thanks for the tip on the SOY...I'll get some and try that with my cereal. The vanilla would actually be good if the sugar content isn't high.

Off to fix supper....I'll click more later..

Hi Friends!

We’re back from Indiana. Good visit for sure. As far as the eating goes for the weekend, I’m pretty proud of myself. They usually have LOTS of sweets and goodies, but they did really well to not have much of that stuff around. I usually come home feeling so full and miserable from eating way too much of the wrong foods. But today I feel great. I withstood the mashed potatoes and crescent rolls at lunch. I had fixed yummy brown rice and SIL and Mom loved it. Paul was the only guy to eat it. Ugh. My SIL was so supportive and interested in what was legal and what wasn’t. She got a little bummed when I told her the instant oatmeal she LOVES wasn’t as good for her as the real stuff. The question about oatmeal this weekend was beautifully timed because we had been talking about it earlier.

KAREN---Thanks for posting the article about avoiding carbs. Very good stuff. Really true, too, don’t we know it!!!!

Yes, JOY, I missed you. And I’m so happy that you gave us a good exercise tip that even I can do on a regular basis. Sounds like a winner to me. Did you come up with that yourself???

BEACH---Oh so glad you are back and feeling better. Tell that nasty old cough to take a HIKE. You’ve got better things to be doing with your time. I’ve known people who get cracked ribs from coughing so hard.

DEB & THIN---Thanks for the explanation about TJs. I can’t wait to go and check it out. I have no idea where it is in Columbus or if it’s even open yet. But I’ll do some defective detective work on the internet and let you all know. Deb, probably won’t get there before our trip. Next Saturday will be reserved for trying on summer clothes and seeing what fits and what doesn’t. It’s probably going to be one gigantic panic attack for me as I try to survive all week on 2 pairs of shorts or something impossible like that.

ORANGE---Thanks for the TJs tip. That would suck if it wasn’t there yet. And thanks for the instructions on the beans and kale. I do not have a pressure cooker (horrible fear of taking out the second floor with a lid gone bad), so I’ll have to adjust your instructions to doing them on the stove. I can’t wait to try some kale. I’ve always wanted to cook collard greens and have been instructed many times by some friends. I’m really going to give it a try this time. Am very impressed with your shopping expertise. That’s a bargain that you sniffed out, my friend. Well done, indeed. Also . . . about your bloating. I’ve never had trouble with milk, but just about everything else (at times I thought even AIR) gave me those problems. Anyways, I’m telling you that I buy these things called Food Enzymes (a dietary enzyme supplement) from a company called Nature’s Sunshine. We have an Herbalist here in town, but you can get them from www.naturessunshine.com (http://www.naturessunshine.com) at about the same price. They help so much with that for me and I’m wondering if they’d do the trick for you with milk.

CHERI---How great that you all had a good trip. Your 3 yo grandson sounds so precious. That’s just wonderful that he’s being accepting and loving to the new person at the house. It helps that you were there to give him loads of loving too. Yes, we’ll definitely meet soon. I’m telling you, we are over there a lot.

Well, it’s almost time for Crossing Over with John Edward so I’m going to have to go. (Anybody else watch him?????) I’m addicted to that show . . . more than survivor. Have a great night and a great week. Take care everyone. Catch ya’ later.

Evening again!!!

I think I stated my problem wrong...I don't mean bloat like gas bloat...I mean PUFFY bloat...face etc...Evidently, there is something in dairy that promotes this in a lot of people. AND of course...NOT TO BE LEFT OUT OF ANYTHING....me included!
Now, with that explained....wonder if SOY would do the same?

Debelli, No have not been to Wards yet. Have not been able to go with my husband on his trips up there because I've always had a meeting the Saturdays he's gone up. Maybe in March I will be able to get by there.

It was so beautiful today. Our grapefruit tree is just blossoming and the aroma is wonderful. We used to have an orange grove down the street from our house--until they built a subdivision there--and our grapefruit tree reminds me of the heavenly scent or orange blossoms that used to drift down from that grove. The oak leaves are falling profusely, piling up in huge mounds, and everyone has their allergies acting up because of the oak leaves and pollen. The new spring green leaves will be appearing soon. Isn't it funny that we have the leaves to fall here in the spring, and you northern gals have leaves fall in autumn. Actually, I think it's odd to think of leaves falling in the spring!! But down here in FLa. they do that.

Our new sofa is coming this Tuesday, so our son carted off our old sofa and loveseat for his house. They were nice leather, but just uncomfortable for us short folks.

Talk to y'all tomorrow.

Hello all-
Don't have much to report. Seems I eat a lot more on weekends when I'm hanging around the house as opposed to during the week when I have to pack a lunch and plan fruit for snacks. Guess that's probably the same for everyone.

DEB...thanks for clearing up the oatmeal and berries stuff. We've got regular oatmeal too so I'll give away the instant.

BOB...just want to say how much I enjoy reading your posts! You've got a great personality which shines through with your posts (and I think that's hard to do on the Internet). You are making my mouth absolutely water for that Uncle Wiley's stuff. My dad is from South Carolina and it sounds like he would LOVE some good southern veggies fixed with that seasoning. We may go to a super walmart tomorrow so I'll be sure to look.

JOY..glad to hear your wrist hasn't interfered with your stamping!! Four friends and I stamped 65 baby shower invitations on Saturday. It was fun and tiring too. We must be crazy to be inviting so many ppl. Oh well, the more the merrier. Your pancakes sound yum! I'll tell DH about them. :) Good question about low fat high protein. I'd like some suggestions too. Off the top of my head I'd say beans...I think they have good protein and I know they have fiber.

QUILTER...sounds like you had a good weekend! How cool that the waiter could give a good suggestion. All this talk about steamers is making me curious. I should check out in the garage (my husband has so much junk out there..I see something new every time I go out there) b/c I think we might have one in a box somewhere. That would be great for veggies! I really need to incorporate them into my eating habits. Its a struggle for me.

Rhroo...sounds like you had the same weather we did. Yuck! So tired of it. I love snow but I'm ready for spring. The thought of being able to go out with out having to wear a heavy coat, scarf, gloves, boots, is like heaven to me. Oh to go out with only a light jacket. I can't wait.

CHERI...how wonderful it must have been to visit with the latest addition to the family. It must have been smiles all around.

TO ALL...hope your week gets off to a great start tomorrow!

Ashley
