Chicks up for a Challenge - 2.5 lbs a week until Halloween Challenge

16 weeks and 6 days till Halloween, my favorite Day of the Year. So, needing serious motivation by way of a challenge I can look forward to the finish line in, I've decided to start a Halloween challenge.

This is just one of those simple challenges, the goal is 2.5 lbs a week, so the people closer to goal probably won't be too interested. At the end, if you've lost weight, you're a winner. I'm not big on setting up complex rules or policing anything, I just want people with the same goal (about 40 lbs by the end of October), who are supportive.

I want to hit 200 and be possible doing a onderland dance on Halloween in a costume that I bought off the rack instead of something I have to make myself because nothing fits.

So, anybody interested, start posting!

2.5 lbs/week is a lot for me, it will probably have me burning more calories everyday. That's not bad at all, I'm in!
If I lose 40 lbs by then I will be one happy, dancing, sexy witch. Let's get to work.

I'm in! I would love to be down 40 pounds by the end of October. I not only want to dress up for Halloween, but I am also planning a girls only weekend at the end of October & would love to buy some sexy jeans!

YAY!! So happy other people want to try this! There are still 5 days left before the 1st week of the challenge so we should all use our weight in five days to start. Or we can just start today and have five days at the end of the challenge to work with. Whateves...really, don't like rules and stuff ;)

I just weighed...probably for the first time in months. I thought I was around 240ish, noooo.
I weighed in at 255. This is the HEAVIEST I have ever been in my LIFE and I am NOT HAPPY. I'm ready to cry.

It would be unhealthy to try for a 55 lbs loss in only 16 weeks, but a girl can wish.

I guess I should say, heaviest I've ever been without a 9 lbs baby in me and lots of fluid and goo. I was 260 my last week of being pregnant with my son. I was huge. I can't believe I'm that huge again (without the big belly, although, my belly is pretty big now).

Yay, more people are joining! This makes me so happy I think I need a ticker in my sig and my goals! I'm soooo bored tonight too I might just follow through with it. I have to hunker down in my bedroom to get away from the squatters who took over my livingroom at the end of June. Can't wait till they leave.

I'm in. It's Thursday and today I weight 210.6.

That would put me at around 170 by Halloween. That seems reasonable.

So, is this a once a week weigh in, and since we started on a Wednesday do we always weigh on a Wednesday? Got only scale this morning and was up a half lbs, but I drank a lot of water yesterday and spent time on a treadmill which I havn't done in months so I assume it's just water in my muscles. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I'm having a **** of a weekend, although my squatters left today, so that's one stressful thing off my list. I'm using my time today to clean my room, rearrange my furniture and get my weekends worth of garage sale loot into their spots (1 dresser and one kitchen cart). There will not be any family in town for the next two weeks so I have that time to establish my eating patterns. Woohoo.

So, any discussion on particular plans you all are following? I'm doing something like the dukan or paleo diet. I'm Alaskan native and historically my people did not eat a lot of carbs, so I'm going back to my roots. I'd go locovoar, but I'd probably die, lol! Seaweed and fish? Lol!

I GAINED 2lbs. WTF? I know my eating wasn't 100% perfect, but I did burn more calories than usual. I have had more salty foods than normal the past few days.

Hey guys! I know I'm a little late, but I'd really love to join this. If I could lose 30-40 lbs by Halloween I would be thrilled. Okay, honestly, if I could lose 30-40 lbs PERIOD, I would be thrilled!! There are 2 evil slices of pizza in the fridge that are standing between me and a true start. I can't bear to throw them out, so dinner it is. I'll be officially starting in the morning. I'm not gonna weigh-in until tomorrow morning (I think I'm right around 186-188 lbs), then I'll get on track with the rest of you guys (looks like Wednesday weigh-ins?). This seems totally do-able, though! Off to go clean house... the parents are on their way for a short visit - gotta make it look like I live a nice, orderly life - HA! Good luck guys! Looking forward to this .... :)

Mango, just went back to pag two and saw your post. I'm also doing something minorly low carb, but not extreme, also combined with IF. Oh, and as soon as I shift down a few dozen lbs I want to start the couch to 5k program and try my feet at running.

I weighed in this morning to see how well I did on my first day of Dukan and I was amazingly down to 251.5, Wow, 3.5 lbs in a few days in not all bad, I'll take it!

There is a whole lotta jigglin goin on for me to be running! Lol! I ordered free weights, a 40 lbs dumbbell set to help me start firming up, and a medicine ball. Plus, it's the neighbors treadmill I'm using and I doubt she wants her fat neighbor bouncing up and down on her nice new machine. I'll hold off for the two more months before I can afford my own mill to abuse. No way am I running outside or at the gym in front of people.

I totally want to join. My b-day is Oct 4th so this is the perfect challenge to get into. Some of the others are way too complex. Simplicity is the ultimate sophisication!

My plan includes the 17DD w/ Zumba, Kettlenetics, and walking the 1.5 mile around my neighbor with weights. I am on Cycle1Day3 and really like this plan; it's simple and uses good medical research.

I put my weigh from a week ago, the 3rd, because putting this past Sunday's would probably not show much change. I normally weigh in on Sunday, but this will give me a mid-week, hump day motivator.

Bust my @$$ today with zumba in the AM and 1.5 mile walk with weighted arms this evening. Still sore from k-bells yesterday.

I wrote dates on the columns just to show which week it is, you can WI any day of the week.
I dropped 3.2 lbs this past week, did NOT see that coming. I hope I can drop half of that this week :)

Lost 1.6 for 4% of goal. Love the spreadsheet Mya:bravo:

Started strength training :jig: this week so not too surprise. I am still sore from 20 mins of Kettlenetics on Monday with only a 4lb weight.

I think everyone weighing in on Wednesday is a good idea. Gives me reason to check in all day today to see how everyone did!:grouphug:

Great job so far to everyone who has weighed in today! I managed a 5 lbs drop!!!! 250 this morning! I had to get on the scale and get off several times to validate myself, lol! I'm doing Dukan so ya, its probably just first week water weight, but I'm not going to complain ;)

I awoke this morning feeling far less sore and just wonderful so I decided to weigh myself and now I have an awesome update!!

LOST 3.0 & 7% OF MY GOAL!:encore:

So excited to share, I ran all the way from my bathroom to my computer in the buff just so I can share - :woohoo:

What a great day - hit 20 total lbs lost and Harry Potter tonight :corn:

For some reason I weight myself daily, and today I got 200.0 . I am ignoring it completely because I know it is water and not fat. I did not go off plan.

I just rescued our thread from page 2! I was holding water yesterday too, I've been weighing daily because I can't stand the suspense. Lol!

Is everybody getting ready for Wednesday? Weigh in number two! I'm staying active today and drinking lots of water. If I just stay away from the carbs for the next two days I think I'll have a good solid 2.5 lbs lost for the WI.

Ya, calorie counting gets me in trouble with the carbs because they have less calories the fat they are deceptive little *******s. If I can control anything it's carbs though after a few days super low carb (under 50) I don't even want them a anymore.

I think this challenge should be open since its individual end goals, just the weekly goal of 2.5 lbs a week. Open enrollment! No rules!

I'm still at 250 this morning no matter how hard I try I cannot shift down! I've had three stellar on plan days in a row, my breath smells like death, I'm drinking water till I nearly wet myself coughing and my treadmill wants a vacation. WTF is wrong with me!!!! I hope I have a huge whooooosh by tomorrow morning or I'm going to have a big fat 0 for week two.

wants2bhealthy: You can add your name to the spreadsheet, just don't leave any empty spaces in the weight fields. Repeat the starting weight or the loss formulas will not work.

Didn't think I would do well this week, but I got a very nice surprise on my scale this morning. I weighed 195.6, which means that now my average is 2.5 lbs / week! Awesome :D

I just got the word from my doc that I have strep throat, which was awesome yesterday with a fever and so sore that I couldn't eat or drink. I'm exactly where I was last week though, no loss no gain. Weird. Maybe I'll have a whoosh when I'd done being sick?

If I lost 2.5 lbs a week for 12 weeks that's 30 lbs! My starting weight for this is 206 so I would weigh 176 by then. It seems doable when you break it down weekly.

I lost 2 lbs in the last 2 days so I'm pretty excited that this might actually be possible!

Hey everyone, how did you do?
I had a slooooooooow week, lost 1.3 lbs which is way below my average but I'm still going down so that's good. I have lost a total of 10 lbs so far, 1/4 of the 40 lbs.

I'm on vacation and working really hard to stay on plan. Also, I don't have a scale to track my progress and I usually weigh twice a day. I've done a decent job with staying away from high carb foods, except fruit. After a 1 lb gain then loss, I'm holding steady at 206.

Alright, so living on a tiny island in the middle of the ocean means when the Internet goes out...there is no Internet for anyone. I managed to connect but it's taken about 15 minutes to load the page and Mango can't connect at all from her house or her office. Our update is this, I'm at 238 andMango is stll around 246 but she can't remember what her last WI was and neither of us will be able to load the spreadsheet so if someone could update for us then we'd love you forever. Without access to 3FC it's a godsend that we know each other in person to provide each other support. I was feeling pretty lame until she called the other day to see how I was doing. Hopefully we'll all be online again soon and with a perm fix instead of what we have now which is soooooooper slow.

I lost another pound this week. Not bad since I haven't been able to exercise for two weeks due to bronchitis. Doc doesn't want me to exercise until next week so I don't relapse.

SW: 233
CW: 224
GW: 195 by 10/31

I'm not sure the 195 goal weight is still realistic since there are only 9 more weeks until Halloween and that would work out to losing 3.5 lbs per week. But I'm going to give it everything I've got and lose as much as I can by Halloween.

Finally back on line!! Got my internets fixed! I've been wallowing in self loathing, overburdend by work and generally not feeling "into it" lately. I weighed in this morning at 246 which I've managed to maintain probably through luck of the irish or something...can't figure out why I havn't gained back up to my start weight. I hope Ghost will come on and update, she left on vacation a few days ago and was down several pounds and feeling so good about herself she threatened to wear a bathing suite at the beach. Thank goodness for Ghost, she has been calling me and texting me trying to motivate me. Since she's been gone on vacay I've been feeling more with the program and ready with a fresh head to get back on the wagon. I have a buiness trip next week but there is a fitness center in the hotel and the office so I'll be fine. And there are plenty of restaurant options for healthy stuff.

I've been so busy lately, but somehow I'm still losing at least 1.5 lbs every week. My classes are back, my mom is sick and my house is a mess because of a renovation we're doing. I haven't been able to exercise at all, and since my kitchen doesn't currently exist, I've been living on peanuts, apples and chocolate.
We're halfway into the challenge, let's give it all we got, all right? One thing I learned here is that we can always get back on plan, and the sooner you do it, the better. So many times I lost 10 or 15 lbs, went off plan and just quit because of that. Then I gained back all of it and more. This time I already lost over 30 lbs and I don't even know how many times I ate too much of the things I shouldn't. I learned that that's ok, and I just do my best to keep going.
