It's July already O_o
3Trip - I've been meaning to get lost in a video game  Happy to see you stop in and say hey
Spangle - I loathe moving due to having to sort things. I'm sorry you're feeling sad about the relocation
Michi - Happy upcoming birthday! The older I get the more I realize that I like giving presents a lot more than receiving them. I want for nothing, and I no longer play with My Little Ponies, so I can't ever think of anything that I'd like. At this point, I already have accumulated way too much "stuff" so I don't want to add to the pile. For birthdays I end up just being reflective and thoughtful, and enjoying the company I'm in. That's enough for me. Do what you want to do for your day, and just let yourself live in the moment :) You have a great birthday no matter what!
Ellie - I don't have any plans for the 4th, either. My family has never been huge into cookouts. We might've had a small one for the 4th or sit on our front steps and watch the fireworks, but meh. I don't want to eat tons of food, and there's no place close that's doing fireworks so I won't go out to watch them. I guess I'll be celebrating my independence by eating a microwave hot dog or something. That's American-esque, right? >.>
I took a nap earlier which turned into a sleep. So, I'm awake. *sigh* I'll find something to do!
Lovely- Thanks. It's just feeling weird that, unlike the past couple of times I've done this, I'm not coming back to Lancaster after the summer. Oh well!
I got my degree results today. I'm graduating with a 2.1 :D Which is awesome!
07-01-2011, 07:11 PM
Just dyed my hair red. I was stuck with bleached hair for a few days so my hair wouldn't get crispy. It's a candy-apple red, but I can't seem to get a picture that really does the color justice. I love it so much. It's nice to go back to having crazy colored hair :D
07-01-2011, 08:02 PM
Spangle - Vikings? That's so cool! My boyfriend and his friends love anything Viking and his friends have several Viking/Norse tattoos. Also I can kind of relate to the whole 4th of July being a sore point for the British - in high school every year for Cinco de Mayo the Spanish language classes had parties and made lots of colorful tissue paper flowers. The French classes were somber and grumpy because we were doing actual language work that day. We barely got a 'jour culturelle' (cultural day) to celebrate except for around Mardi Gras. Those Spanish classes had all the fun!!
Trip - Ah! I used to do hot pink bangs/front section of my hair and I miss it. I dyed them for the last time in Fall 2010 because I knew by this Summer I'd be either getting a job, internship, etc which would surely frown upon crazy color hair. Below I posted my favorite picture of me (Not only do I look thin, I just love the crazy effect I got from the beaded curtains and color contrast of everything) as well as a more realistic but way less flattering picture from my Junior year of college were me and my two roomies had just dyed our hair together. My middle roomie, in purple, was a little shocked at how vivid the purple was so we spent the better part of that evening shampooing and re-shampooing her hair until it was about half as colorful as it is here.
Sorry they came out so large! I'm a little embarrassed because I can't figure out how to shrink it. My face is larger than life and you can see every blemish xD
07-01-2011, 11:40 PM
Spangle - Congratulations on the results! :)
3trip - If you get a picture, definitely post it. We'd love to see ^^ Bet it looks hawt!
Michi - Cute! >^.^< That pink looks fun! And you're so right, the purple beads look awesome with the hair. Hah! It looks like your friends also painted their nails to go with their hair! Love it.
I'm so... tired. Blah. Going to get to bed shortly. Hoping for a nice weekend so I can keep the windows open while I clean and organize.
07-01-2011, 11:56 PM
Lovely - Ah - you're right, I guess I'm the odd one out as far as the nail color's concerned. The pink is super fun :) I envy those with straight hair though, because you can do a ton of neat tricks with different colors or 'peek a boo' when you just dye the bottom back half of your hair. Oh well!
Today was actually a great day and I'm hoping my good mood continues into tomorrow. I had a nice date night with my boyfriend and we capped it off by watching a bunch of episodes of Mighty Boosh and geeking out :) I highly suggest it for anyone who hasn't seen it and likes British humour, and if you only see one episode ever make it Nanageddon!
Who's ready for a fun weekend? :D
07-02-2011, 02:12 AM
Michi- awesome! I currently only have on Viking-y tattoo, but my brother is drawing me up another one that is a reward for one of my mini-goals :D I can't wait to start, I've got a load of books to read over the summer.
Lovely- Thank you! :D
07-02-2011, 04:58 PM
Hey ladies. I want some crazy hair!! I don't think it is appropriate where I work though =/ I did do a home highlight job, so now my red hair (I am a natural red head, not apple red hair) is more of a blonde/strawberry blonde. I didn't think I liked it at first, but it styled, it looks really nice.
I had gotten my nose pierced in March time, and I took it out a couple of days ago. I made the mistake of snagging the original piercing, and could not get it back in. Then, (while nose was like elephant man swollen) I bought a ring (stud) to keep it from closing. Apparently the metal was not good for "healing" so i have been battling an infection around it. A couple of days ago, I said screw it took it out, and it is almost closed now. I might re-pierce it later this year.
07-02-2011, 05:40 PM
It's much more vibrant in person, but I can't seem to get a picture that really does it justice.
07-03-2011, 06:56 AM
Michi - Sounds like a great day!
Spangle -
Ryeb - How's stuff? :) I always wanted a simple nose stud. I had similar things happen with my ear piercings. It's been a while since I've had earrings in so now I need to look into getting some new earrings and getting my ears used to them.
3trip - Love the hair! Cute curls!
I'm up at *** o'clock in the morning, gonna make breakfast and just sit for a few and play a game. Then I'll have to take my walk later, and ... it's laundry day! I need to get a few loads done.
I need to go through clothes and see what I don't wear, or what needs donating anyways. Blah. I feel like I have way too much crap in my apartment. I should aim to have it completely de-crapified by Fall.
07-03-2011, 09:38 AM
I miss having dyed hair. Mine is naturally brown, so I did two very deep turquoise green streaks a few years ago and loved it.
But I graduated college in May 2010, so I've had to make do with wigs whenever I want a shot of color. : / I felt the greatest loss, though, when I entered the post-college job market and had to take out my facial piercings.
triptriptrip: Looks pretty vibrant from here!
07-03-2011, 02:18 PM
I dread the day that I get to med school and they tell me I have to take the piercings out. I'm getting my nose re-pierced in a week and then I want to pierce my lip. The lip thing I've been mulling over for a few years, but I finally decided to go for it.
07-03-2011, 03:03 PM
Trip- that hair colour is gorgeous!
I'm sat in my parents house, having moved all my stuff back here for the summer, and it feels very weird knowing I'm never going back to Lancaster. Though, I am very, very glad to be home. I needed a break from everything, and I need the summer to just be looked after by my mum (lol) and get my life back on track. Saying that, she did greet me with a glass of wine... I'll get on the new exercise bike in the living room tomorrow with a Disney film on the TV!
07-03-2011, 05:27 PM
Trip, I LOVE, LOVE your hair!! You are one hot lady too!! Seriously, that was an excellent choice for hair color.
I am surprised that my job I am in, has no standards really at all. I can have piercings, tattoos (minus gang lol), and hair any way. It is weird I work for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, and you would think they would "mind"
I hope you are all having a great 4th of July weekend. It is finally Friday for me, so I am excited for my much needed weekend. I am going to clean my house top to bottom. The man is going to probably move in around the 15th :)
07-04-2011, 07:23 AM
Hey guys ^^
Happy Fourth to those in the States! I'm just going to be cleaning and getting sweaty. How exciting, right?
I had my weigh-in this morning! Down more than 25lbs. Woot! Almost at my next mini-goal.
See you all later!
07-04-2011, 02:24 PM
Trip.......LOVE it! I used to have a blue streak in my bangs, but since I have to wash my hair everyday (very oily), it runs out too quickly. What kind of dye do you use? I'm thinking of doing it again.
07-04-2011, 03:03 PM
I mixed Manic Panic Vampire Red with Beyond the Zone Crimson Storm. I leave it in for a few hours, use a hair dryer until it starts to get dry and then wash out with cold water. It really helps.
07-04-2011, 05:04 PM
trip - Ah that's so good looking! I've heard bad things about Manic Panic so I've always stuck with Special FX, but it looks like Manic worked out nicely for you :) I think if I did a low-key red then once I got a job they might be ok with it, but no more pinks :'( I weep for my youth!
Spangle - you know, even though I'm living near where I went to college it's still weird to think I'll never be living in the dorms again with my roomie of 4 years. We got extremely close and it was almost like having a sister. I'm an only child and she has 2 older brothers so it was a first for both of us back four years ago as freshman.
Lovely - did you have a good Canada Day? I don't know much about it to be honest, is it as popular and celebrated as the 4th? I mean here, you might think July 4th was like an annual second coming of Christ for some people... we had an hour long fireworks extravaganza at the party we went to last night!
I hope everyone else had a nice weekend. I'm going for an interview at Target on Wednesday and right now just hanging out with the boyfriend in the air conditioning. Ahhh livin' the life :)
07-05-2011, 05:03 AM
I thought I'd just jump in and say you are all amazing and an inspiration.
I wish I could color my hair into such pretty shades but since my hair is dark brown...all the salons here say its not possible.
07-05-2011, 05:16 AM
I mixed Manic Panic Vampire Red with Beyond the Zone Crimson Storm. I leave it in for a few hours, use a hair dryer until it starts to get dry and then wash out with cold water. It really helps.
Thanks for the tip :) I find that if I use permanent hair dye (like what most people would do their whole head with) it works better because it uses developer. I'm diggin' the red...thinking of doing that myself.
07-05-2011, 07:21 AM
Back in college I'd dyed by ends blue. Bleach the tips, wait a day, then on went the manic panic electric blue. Fun times
Michi - I'm not Canadian, but I'm sure those who are had a fun day. ;) July 4th is nice, and all, but other than watching fireworks it wasn't a huge deal at my house. Have a great interview! Hope you get the position! ^^
iamworthit - You join us any time you want to chat :)
I was up eeeaaarrrlly ... I can't ever seem to get into a normal sleep schedule! Ah well. I enjoy it.
Hoping to get some cleaning and organizing done around the house while the husband goes back to work.
Have a great day everyone!
07-05-2011, 11:01 AM
I was up far too late. Had a bad, bad night last night (being back at home where there is ridiculous amounts of food in the fridge and cupboards, including foods I would never buy myself is making midnight binges all too easy...) and woke up to a brunch of cheesy eggy mushrooms on toast. Going to kick my *** into gear, though, and pop on another Disney movie and exercise bike it all away.
07-05-2011, 11:40 AM
Well, although it rain lightly through the fireworks last night it was still a nice show. Same thing happened to us last year. Is this a trend?
I had one cup of low-fat ice cream but because I had banked the fat grams and calories during the day it fit into my caloric intake for the day. It was the first dish of ice cream I'd had in a YEAR! But that's not counting the Chick-Fil-La banana pudding shake I had last spring - yum!
Can you tell I haven't had breakfast yet this morning? Sheesh!
07-05-2011, 04:10 PM
Ugh, talk about bad nights. I *just* woke up half an hour ago. I hate myself when I do that - makes the motivation to do everything else, especially working out, much harder to come by.
07-05-2011, 09:03 PM
Spangle - You reminded me that I never got to watch the Princess and the Frog. So I popped that on from Netflix, and then took a walk on my treadmill. :D
Ellie - That sounds like a great night! =)
Awaiting- I hate those days when half of it's been wasted as I sleep. Makes me feel so "blah" and it's so much harder to do anything.
I just had a great dinner. I'm getting sleepy, though, since I was up too early lol
OH! My dvds came today. Belly dancing and Zumba. Gonna try the belly dancing one out first tomorrow. Should be fun!
07-05-2011, 11:29 PM
Lovely- I LOVE The Princess and the Frog! My boyfriend took me to the cinema to see it, I cried like an idiot near the end :p
07-06-2011, 12:10 AM
Finally got my nose re-pierced and then pierced my tongue while I was there. It's very exciting. I'm still a bit sore so I will be having soup for the next few days.
07-06-2011, 07:45 AM
Spangle - It was an adorable movie ^^ I like how it was a little different then most of the Princess movies they've done. Cute!
3trip - Nice! Bet they look great!
07-06-2011, 04:34 PM
Lovely- did you feel bad about what happened to Ray? I love Ray... I want to get a plushie of him for my unbirthday :p
trip- I really keep toying with the idea of piercing my tongue. How did you find it? Also, I hated it when I had to get my nose and eyebrow re-pierced. It hurt SO BAD.
07-06-2011, 04:35 PM
Lovely - Ah! My mistake... I had it in my head for some reason that you were from Canada. Oops >_< Have you tried your new DVDs yet? I wanna know about the belly dancing one!
trip - ouch, tongue :x I'm too much of a wimp to even get my ears pierced x_x
Ellie - Yum, ice cream! I had just enough calories to squeak by with a kid's sizer serving of Coldstone ice cream yesterday, it was divine. Today I'll have to settle for the 60 calorie fudge pops we have in the freezer as an after dinner sweet, which still isn't terrible :)
Spangle - I was up late last night too, but more because I was stressed about a job interview this morning. Luckily I ended up getting the job, but man I could not bring myself to have breakfast I was so nervous!!
I just got up from a nap not long ago and now I'm deciding (a little early) what to do for dinner. I have these yummy beef teriyaki and sesame skewers (just 100 calories each) that I might grill up to go with rice and some steamed veggies. I'm just having one of those days where no food is really striking my fancy, not even junk like pizza or fried chicken. Weird, right?
My boyfriend is watching some weird kung fu movie on TV right now... I think it's Kung Fu Hustle, but I was never into these crazy kinds of film. If I go for something foreign I try to pick a movie from France so I can keep my language skills fresh. The boyfriend, non-French speaker he is, begs for English subtitles but I told him I could just translate for him. It's a hard sell :)
07-06-2011, 04:45 PM
Michi - I popped on super quick to check something, but I'm watching Kung Fu Hustle, too.... I've seen it before, but it's actually very funny :x
07-07-2011, 12:54 AM
The tongue wasn't painful. It just felt like pressure. The nose hurt a lot. I wasn't all too keen on that one. My eyes were watering like crazy. Worth it though. Seems to be healing okay at the moment.
07-07-2011, 09:10 AM
Spangle - Ray was cute! I love cajun accents so that didn't hurt
Michi - I'm a New Englander like yourself! :D I tried out the belly dancing one. Oh my goodness... the moves started out with the arms, and it was TOUGH. I just don't have the arm stamina to do all that she was teaching. But I'm hoping to add it in regularly so I can practice and built my arm strength. Those skewers sound delicious!
3trip - Glad they're healing!
I've got a busy day out of the house, but it's a good kind of busy. I'm hoping to get a few needed chores done and I'm going for an eye doctor appointment today to get new glasses. :) Hurray!
07-07-2011, 09:33 AM
@Michi and Lovely - Kung Fu Hustle is funny. One of my most favorite LOL movies. Nothing like the part where they threw a handle at the lady. hahaha
@Trip - I had my nose pierced last February. For some reason it took a while to heal. I had many accidents with it.. from scratching my nose and the stud off... to my eyeglasses getting caught and.. just waking up without the stud.
I'm thinking about getting my tongue pierced soon. How long does it take to heal?
07-07-2011, 10:23 AM
Morning, Ladies,
Well, after a busy day yesterday I gotta hit some chores, for the place is a disaster!
@Lovely: Oh, the eye doctor visit! I gotta do the same thing in August and this time I'm gonna try contacts if I can! I don't mind wearing glasses but I would like to run errands without remembering to bring my glasses to read small print. Anyway, hopes it goes well.
@Michi: Frozen pops are good! I like those WW dark chocolate with raspberry ones...yummy!
A question for the chat in general. Does a nose ring mean something in particular or are they considered like another piece of jewelry or bodily adornment? I see them at school everywhere, but think it would be too impolite to ask. :)
07-07-2011, 01:26 PM
I'm pretty sure nose rings mean something in a few cultures, but honestly I think for post people it's just another body mod =)
Lovely- Me too! As a kid, Gambit was my favourite character ever, so Cajun accents always get me :p
Loaded up on fresh fruit and veggies today. Feelin' goood!
07-07-2011, 02:38 PM
Iamworthit -
Ellie - I never thought it meant anything in particular. Just a pretty piece of jewelry. I'd probably wear contacts, but I have an astigmatism so they don't sit on my eyeballs well.
Spangle - LOL! I was thinking the same thing! *sigh* When he used to call Rogue "cher" ... he was so dreamy.
I got most of my chores done today (with the husband's help) just stopped in at home to get some food in my stomach. I still need to go food shopping, but didn't want to go while I was hungry or I'd be bound to pick a few things that I didn't really need.
Good news, my eyes are fine and healthy other than that I just needed to get my new prescription and will be getting the glasses within a week or so. :)
07-07-2011, 03:06 PM
Hello ladies
I was reading some posts and wanted to just jump on in!
Oh Gambit how you stole my heart I also loved his accent and I always thought his coat was awesome!
I also really enjoyed The Princess and the Frog it was different and my little girl enjoyed it so much we watch it a lot! I think I can recite the whole movie by heart LOL
I used to have my tongue pierced but I had to take it out when I was pregnant it made my nausea worse but that was over 2 yrs ago and I have yet to get it re-pierced.
Oh crazy hair!! These last couple of months I have been getting my hair cut in a mullet style it pretty much looks like a choppy layered bob on top of some long hair kind of like Elvira! whenever I leave the salon I look like I walked out of the 80's big hair period LOL! Anyway my hairdresser asked if I would do some highlights and I said sure. I gave him creative freedom with my hair so now I have blonde streaks and red streaks. I love that the red really pops in the sun! I have been wanting to pick up some dye and color the blonde pink but I fear the red will be affected too much.
A funny thing I have noticed about people and my tattoos. My daughter likes to draw on herself with markers I don't mind it always gets washed off before bed and I don't like limiting her creativity. The other day an older woman was staring at me and then would glance at my daughter and came up to me to let me know that she was disgusted with the fact that I tattooed my 2 yr old. I looked at her, looked at my tattoos on my arms which are all actual drawings, and then looked at the squiggles my daughter had on her arms and legs. I pulled out a wet wipe from my purse and wiped off one of the squiggles. She looked at me and I said "No I would not tattoo my 2 yr old but she does like using herself as a canvas" I wanted so badly to say other things but I restrained myself, she however walked away with an extremely red face!
07-07-2011, 05:16 PM
Hey NiteOwl! :D
Seems we're all on the same wavelength :p My boyfriend got me a mint condition issue of his first appearance in the X-Men comics. I love being with a geek :D
That thing about your daughter is crazy! As if anyone could be silly enough to think they were real tattoos!?
07-07-2011, 09:49 PM
Hey Nite! Welcome! Glad to have you join in our chit chat ^^
That incident with the lady was odd O_o How did she not realize that some squiggles were just... squiggles? Bet she felt funny when she saw they were just marker!
Spangle - Squee! ^^ He's so great. I mean Gambit. Though your BF is a gem, too, for giving you the comic ;)
07-07-2011, 10:00 PM
;) Haha, I knew what you meant, Lovely :p
07-09-2011, 11:43 AM
Happy Saturday, gang!
Anyone got fun plans? I'm eating breakfast while I read the forums, and then it's off to get chores done. Food shopping. Then cleaning chores at home.
Then my walk on the treadmill in the afternoon. Looking forward to the movement all day! ^^
07-09-2011, 09:33 PM
My mum and I went shopping today, it was really nice to hang out with her =) Then we went for dinner at an Indian restaurant for my dad's birthday- wasn't as bad as it could have been, as I stuck to a dry curry and plain steamed rice. Woot!
07-10-2011, 12:00 AM
Spangle - Sounds like a lovely day :) I'm jealous of the Indian food! That's some of the best foodstuffs in the world! Anything with paneer in it, truly :x
07-10-2011, 10:09 AM
Dropping in again! I've had a couple of bad weeks, eating-wise, but I think I'm finally getting my **** together. Whenever I hit a big milestone it seems like my head freaks out and then I go off the rails for awhile until I can figure out how to get back on track. I have to stop doing that!
I worked yesterday so I am off today and tomorrow. We are supposed to be going to a Ciroc-sponsored white party in Ocean City tonight but I'm not sure if I feel like going. It is so hard for me to be around liquor and food, especially when I'm just getting things together, and I don't have anything white so I would have to go out and buy something.
We will see!
Right now I'm drinking a huge mug of coffee and puttering around 3FC. This website helps me so much. I've also been figuring out google+, if anyone is on there let me know and I'll add you. Right now it looks like facebook AFTER the zombie apocalypse lol.
07-10-2011, 02:25 PM
Hey Spooky! Glad to see you in this thread, again! ^-^ You're not the only person that has a mini-freak out after a big milestone. I see it a lot around 3FC! I wonder why we do that? Let us know if you end up going to the party! I have yet to check out Google+, but I don't use Facebook much.
Well, gang! Happy Sunday =)
I had the motivation to get my walk in immediately after getting out of bed, so I used it and did my activity early. Love the days when I don't have to force it! =) Just checking in on the forums. Later I've got more around-the-apartment chores to do, but I'm actually looking forward to getting things more organized and cleared out.
I don't mind organizing or decorating. I just hate cleaning. At least it's added activity, right?
See you guys later! <3
07-10-2011, 07:29 PM
The tongue piercing has really started to be a lot easier to work with this past day or so. Eating is a bit tough, but I did manage to eat a whole cucumber yesterday. I have to constantly remind myself to eat fresh veggies. I know it will be worth it in the end.
07-10-2011, 07:45 PM
I had my tongue pierced almost a decade ago. I remember how sore it was the first week or so. I used to run the barbell around my teeth and every now and then I would forget and bite down on it. Ouchies.
I gradually went to a larger and larger barbell. It was AWESOME and I felt badass.
And then I took it out to get my first 'professional' job and never used a spacer or anything to keep it patent. So it grew over and I haven't had one since. I miss it a little.
07-11-2011, 12:37 PM
Hey everyone! Have a good weekend?
Mine was mostly productive and active, which was great! I love the feeling after moving around. Not the sore part, but the part when I look back and realize how much I was walking around or taking stairs.
Today I don't have as many "active" plans, but I still need to take my walk and might do some laundry (which requires stairs). My husband has so many dirty clothes... it's like they come out of the walls! -_-
Fun news, though! I should be picking up my glasses today! I'll have to take a picture of them to share, they're pretty cute, and I've never quite had anything styled like them. :) I'm excited!
07-11-2011, 02:38 PM
YAY for new glasses, Lovely! Can't wait to see them!
I've had a lazy weekend. Actually I've been really inactive for the last month or so, sidelined by a mystery illness that nobody can quite diagnose. I'm on new meds (again) and had a bunch of labwork this morning so hopefully they will figure it out soon. I am usually so active that it kills me to stay at home and sit on the couch and do nothing. I can't wait to get back to the gym for my zumba and spinning classes but right now I have no energy for anything.
I'm trying to be good about my food intake, though, since I can't exercise for a little 'wiggle room'. I'm working tomorrow, off Wed, and then working T/F, so at least I don't have any long stretches to get through and that is a blessing.
Hope you are all well!
07-12-2011, 12:31 PM
I've been a bit AWOL for the past week, but last Wednesday I had an interview with Target and I'm trying for a corporate management position but if that doesn't work out then the hiring manager wants to take me on as a guest services member. It will be nice to be employed after a month and a half of doing NOTHING!
Since the 4th of July weekend my schedule has been a little wacky. Over this past weekend there was a pre-release event for a card game that I casually play with my boyfriend and a few of our friends, so we were up late Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday. In fact Sunday, we didn't even get to sleep until 4 am Monday morning...
Today I'm trying to get back on my sleep schedule AND eating schedule, but it's been rough so far. I just feel like poop and I realize that we need to do some maintenance grocery shopping to boot, not to mention cleaning, laundry et al. Can I go back to bed now? =_=
Spooky - I love your signature, the skulls are cute!!
Lovely - We've had this pile of scary laundry accumulating ourselves. The boyfriend DEFINITELY has too many clothes and he goes through them like wildfire!
Trip - mmmm cucumber :) My mom has this recipe for a cucumber salad where you slice them thinly and then add a combo of vinegar and some sugar. Kind of reminds me a fresh version of a sweet pickle. I think it's a common German thing, and I found an approximation of what she did if anyone's interested in trying it: http://germanfood.about.com/od/middaymealmittagessen/r/cucumbsalad.htm
You can substitute fake sugar (or just reduce the sugar a bit) if you're worried about calories :) It's probably best to wait until your tongue is healed though because the vinegar would sting!
07-12-2011, 04:38 PM
I'm sure I've had that cucumber salad in Austria =)
I'm feeling really good today! 40 minutes on the exercise bike in front of Friends :D
07-12-2011, 06:36 PM
Picked up my glasses last night. These are them! (http://www.coolframes.com/?fid=21037) Cute librarian-esque with a hint of retro. I've never had anything like them. My glasses are usually very simple light brown, very thin frames. These ones are a little more stylin', and I'm kind of excited to find clothes to match.
Michi - I hope you get to start working soon! :D I hear you on the sleep schedule. I get caught up in fun things and before I know it... it's the next day :dizzy:
Spangle - Awesome job on the exercise! I like walking on my treadmill while watching TV. Bike/treadmill...they're both great ways to be active while still catching up on "lazy" activities like watch shows.
Spook - I hope they figure out what's going on! I know when I'm not well enough to exercise that he food part definitely becomes harder, but it's still doable! You can do it! Especially with our WW challenge to work towards, right? :D
I'm doing well today. Got dinner planned. Laundry's in the dryer. Took my walk. I know there's more I could do around the house, but I'm feeling pretty upbeat in general.
07-12-2011, 08:07 PM
Lovely- Thank you :) I'm so glad that I came home to an exercise bike in our living room! Haha. Oooh, those glasses are cool! I see what you mean, quite retro-y!
07-13-2011, 10:42 AM
I've always wanted a pair of those cat's-eye style very retro glasses. Never found exactly the style. Of course I don't need glasses but I'm not above wearing them for fashion.
Michi -- Good luck with the job, hopefully you hear something soon!
And wtg on the exercise, Spangle!
AFM: I'm off today so I'm spending a lazy day at home. Planning to knit and maybe watch a couple of movies and not do much else. Eating has been a challenge but I resolve to get in all my fruit and veg today.
Have a good one, all!
07-13-2011, 04:44 PM
I upped it to 45 minutes today, lovely chicks! First half of that was in front of a Cradle of Filth documentary (lol!) and the second to Beauty and the Beast. God, I love that movie!
Spooky- Thank you! :D Lazy days at home are always good :D
07-13-2011, 06:40 PM
Hey ladies, I hope you are all having a good week :)
07-14-2011, 03:09 PM
Ryeb - Hey girl! :D How are you doing?!
More. Laundry. For. Me. -_- Endless...endless...laundry *sigh* I'm down to the last four piles before it turns back into "normal". At least the three flights of stairs are good for my legs.
Plus there are boxes to go through... and trash to throw out. Blah. Thinking about it all is too much. Gotta look at it like weight-loss. One day at a time. One item on the list at a time.
Back to tossing trash while I wait for the dryer to finish! See you ladies later!
07-14-2011, 05:32 PM
How are you today Lovey? How are the boxes going?
I am doing ok. I haven't really been to the gym, I had a lot of pain, found out I had ovarian cyst =/ I have my first prenatal appointment on July 25th. I have been stressed, but oh well.
I don't want to be at work today. :(
07-15-2011, 12:25 PM
Hope everyone is having a great week. Pour moi, I'm gearing up for holiday in a couple of weeks and have so much to do, the mani/pedi, hair cut-n-color (gotta cover those grays!), cleaning the place (hate coming back to a dirty kitchen!), packing, all that stuff.
@Lovely: Got your new eyes, eh? Sounds great. Mine make me look like John Lennon in drag, I think! Every time I put them on I mentally begin singing, "Imagine." Yep, I'm nutty like that! :dizzy: But, DH says I look good in them so I think I'll keep the same style when I get them upgraded.
@Spooky: I love cat's-eye glasses! They're so cute.
You girls have a great weekend.
07-15-2011, 08:35 PM
I'm not having the best week, ladies :( We go on holiday as a family (potentially our last-but-one holiday as a family, being my brother, myself and my parents, ever) a week on Tuesday, but we can't find my passport, and I won't be able to get a replacement in time :( We're doing a trip to Estonia and Finland that we've been planning for years :( I am so gutted, it's really tempting to break into the ice cream and cheese that I know is downstairs.
07-15-2011, 10:01 PM
Ryeb - Miss seeing you around as much! Really sorry to hear about the cyst =( I hope everything goes well with the prenatal appointment.
Ellie - Love it! Imagine, indeed ;) Have fun getting ready for the holiday!
Spangle - It'll turn up. You'll get it! In the meantime, you KNOW that ice cream and cheese won't actually help find your passport. Deep breath. One thing at a time. You'll find it!
07-17-2011, 04:43 PM
The downside to having crazy colored hair: I can't go swimming. Swim caps don't do much in keeping the water out of my hair. I need to get some serious exercise into my life. I wish it wasn't a hundred degrees outside so I could go for a walk. Not that I'd go for a walk in this area. I wish I still lived with my mom. Southern California has way better neighborhoods to walk around in.
07-18-2011, 12:25 PM
Hurray! I'm celebrating 3 months today! AND I've accomplished my mini-goal of no longer weighing 300 pounds :faint: I'm now in the Two's :D
Crazy what 3 months of healthy choices can do for a body! I still can't believe it. I'm going to be taking pictures tonight, along with measurements so that I can graph all that stuff :)
I feel silly, but I'm already looking ahead to 6 months on plan trying to imagine what great things I can accomplish by then  One thing at a time... one thing at a time.
I've got some tofu in my fridge and I'm trying to figure out what to do with it this week for dinner. I could marinade it and slice it thin in a stir fry over some brown rice... which sounds good... Hmm. I think I'll look up a couple recipes, but I'm keeping the stir fry in the back of my mind especially since I have broccoli, carrots, and mushrooms on hand.
07-20-2011, 06:37 AM
Triptriptrip- I love your hair. I so badly want to dye my hair, but don't know how to do it myself and don't have the money for it right now.
Lovely- Congrats on getting out of the 300's
A lot of people talked about having bad nights. I haven't been able to sleep for two nights. Last night I didn't get to bed till 4 this morning and slept about 4 hours. So far I haven't been able to sleep at all tonight.....I mean morning. -_-
07-20-2011, 08:03 AM
Hi Msdarkmetal! Welcome to our little area ^_^
I've been having strange sleeping nights, but last night I passed out early... and so here I am up early
I took those measurements and pictures. At first I didn't think there was really much of a difference, but after the calculations and comparisons... I'd lost 4 inches off my waist! Another couple inches off my thighs, and arms... not as much off my hips, but still!
I've got another week and a half before my sister and her kiddos come visit my apartment. They've never seen it as they live a couple hours away. I'm trying to make sure things are cleaner. Having someone come look at my house is sure motivation to make it stay neat!
07-20-2011, 09:56 AM
Congrats on making it out of the 300s, Lovely! I am so looking forward to Onederland! I've lost about 25 lbs so far this year and I'm going to aim for another 25 before the new year, even if I fall a bit short I should still be further along than I am now! I haven't seen many of my family members in at least a year, if not more, it would be fun to surprise them at the holidays looking a bit thinner.
I love love LOVE scrambled tofu for breakfast. I also like it stir-fried, I usually press it for awhile to get all the liquid out so it will firm up and be crispier.
Spangle - I hope you can find your passport!
My hair is gray(ing). I have dyed it every 6 weeks since I was 20 or so and now I'm taking a break. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it. It is shocking just how gray it is around my hairline. I think there's a terrible double standard between men and women and graying hair/the responsibility to stay youthful as long as possible. Not promising NOT to dye it again but right now I'm taking it day by day.

Hey girls. I've been kind of barely hanging in there on the plan since 4th of July Weekend due to a string of events. I've managed to maintain what weight I have lost already but that also means I'm 2.5 pounds heavier than I would be if I had stuck on plan :( I'm feeling kind of down because my cousin (who's yo-yo'ed in the past) started losing weight right when I re-committed in May/June. She's doing Weight Watchers and now she's getting to the point where she's about as heavy as I am - I was always getting her old clothes that she was too big for - so I guess it threw me into a bad mood. I know it's unflattering to say that, but I think I'm just disappointed that I can do SO well for two months and then get stuck on a major holiday.
On the happy side, I went to Orientation for Target yesterday and will be training over the next 2 weeks for cashier. Everyone was very nice and they were able to accommodate a small vacation I had planned months ago for the last weekend of July, so no worries about losing money or re-booking :)
Lovely - Congratulations on your mini goal!! I feel you on the clean apartment thing - in college when I knew my parents were coming I would spend the day or two before doing laundry, organizing, washing dishes, etc so they didn't think I was a pig :)
Spooky - I also am looking forward to Onederland but I still have a ways to go. I estimated that I was about 225 - 230 lbs when I met my boyfriend so I'm sort of setting that as a mini-goal on the way there.
msdarkmetal - You know, I went to sleep at like 11:30 last night and woke up around 9:30 this morning and though it seems like it should have been plenty, I'm still feeling kind of cranky and tired. My boyfriend's been keeping terrible hours since becoming unemployed (he's still sleeping now and probably won't be up, showered, and functioning until 11) but I'm trying to get him back on track so I'm not falling into bad patterns again too!
Spangle - That's just the worst :( I'm sorry about the bad luck. Is it possible that you have it still packed in a box from moving? I'm sending you good vibes in hopes that everything will turn out okay!
trip - I wish I had a pool to exercise in! It's one of the few ways I enjoy exercising. I've also been wanting to go for walks/jogs or bike around the neighborhood but the heat and humidity are terrible :/
07-20-2011, 07:12 PM
Michi: 230ish is sort of my set point. I can diet and get down to somewhere between 200-210 but that's the lowest I've been as an adult. Once I give up (as I usually do) I go right back up to 230 and sort of hover there. My highest ever was 260+ and I was so very uncomfortable. It's funny how my body can accept 100 lbs overweight but that extra 30 was just too much. I'm determined to make it this time and it is exciting to me because I've never seen myself at a lower weight. Interested to see how it will look.
And I understand about your cousin, too. I have a friend who is heavier than me and I usually get the work clothes she can't squeeze into anymore. It sounds mean-spirited but I would be upset if she were suddenly my size or smaller. I know she is sort of depressed that I am so much smaller than she is now. Now her too small clothes are too big for me.
07-22-2011, 04:20 PM
Hey guys ^^
Happy Friday! :) Anyone got plans? I've got shopping to do. Promised myself a little reward clothes shopping trip after 3 months, so tomorrow's the day!
Spooky - I definitely know what you mean about that set point. Seems like I was always "okay" with the high 200's. It was just normal. But slap on that extra 30 lbs and suddenly it was NOT okay. Very weird... I'm going to press that tofu nicely to get it great for the stir-fry I'm making Saturday night :3
Michi - Don't let anyone else affect your success. You're doing well! Holidays, new jobs,... cousins. You hang in there!
I'm going to jump up on the treadmill in a short bit soon as my food is digested more, and then get on with the day! Much to do :) Have a good one, all!
07-23-2011, 10:53 AM
First, congrats to Lovely for hitting your goal! Way to go! :cp:
@Spooky: I know how you feel about "set points." For some reason whenever I reach the 259 mark I think that's my cue to go back to my old eating habits, then I gain back everything I lost and a little more. I wish I could get over this psychological border as I'll be coming up on it again soon and am dreading it.
@Michi: Wow, going through a stressful phase right now, but hang in there, things will slow down in a bit and you will be able to catch your breath. :) I just love Target, btw. Our store is so clean that it's a joy to shop in.
As for moi I'm going on holiday this week to the mountains. Gonna go stay in an inn, swim in an ol time swimmin hole, hike (well, more like walk at my weight!), and just generally get outta the concrete jungle. Woohoo!
Have a great week, girls!
07-24-2011, 09:03 AM
I worked yesterday so today is my only real day off this weekend. Working again tomorrow, off Tuesday (and I have my follow up 'mystery illness' doctor's appt), and then I'm working until the weekend. So not a lot of down time for me. That's something new. My last job I worked 3 days a week so I was off more often than I was working and this place I feel like I am at work looking at the same people EVERY SINGLE DAY. Oh well. It's a trade off I will gladly make for state benefits, job security, and daytime working hours.
I've been doing great, eating-wise. Still not working out. Hoping to see a loss this week, I WI tomorrow night.
Ellie - I am *so* with you on that psychological barrier thing. Mine is right around 209-210 lbs (so about 1 lb away from where I am now). At this weight I am the smallest I've been as an adult and am approaching more of a normal size, getting much more attention (especially sexual attention from men, which I loathe), and it makes me very very uncomfortable and that's when I shut down and gain it back. I am determined to make it through this time but it is so hard. I'm still recovering from being off plan for almost a month and this is all I can attribute it to. Psychological discomfort. Losing weight is so much more than calories in, calories out. It's a total mindgame. For me, anyway.
07-25-2011, 10:16 AM
Hey everyone! :D
Ellie - That sounds like a great trip, and so active! Have an awesome time, and be sure to tell us all about it when you get back! :)
Spooky - It really can be so much more than just eating less. I think it's a huge success that even though you haven't been able to workout that you've stuck to your points and are focusing on sticking around.
This coming weekend is when my sister and the kids are arriving so I've gotta get my bum in gear and make sure the apartment looks nice. I got off the treadmill, and I've got a list of things to do today and the rest of the week. I'm hoping it'll keep me busy and moving. More activity, less thinking about food. It'll be good!
07-25-2011, 05:37 PM
Hey girls! Just a quick update from me today. I finished my first solo shift cashiering today and man were we busy. I was so famished that I grabbed some Subway afterwards and kind of splurged a bit on calories which makes me upset. I did burn about 430 calories though, but I hate eating into that surplus. I'm gonna have to start planning a bit better :(
Ellie - Enjoy your vacation :) Sounds like it'll be fun!
Spooky - What an adjustment going from 3 days to 5 days. I'm not looking forward to doing 5 days next week, after doing 2 weeks of very easy 'training' schedule of just 8 hours a week. I know I'll love the money (or what little I'll see of it after loans and all that jazz) but man I've been a little spoiled while unemployed!
07-25-2011, 08:57 PM
Hey ladies! I'm new to this site in general and feel like I would fit in over here. Everyone seems positive and supportive! I need some people to help keep me accountable to get my booty in gear and keep it there! I've got some medical issues going on that compound my weight issues but I gotta do it. Thanks in advance and hopefully I can be helpful to others too!
Good luck everyone!
07-26-2011, 05:45 AM
Nest - Welcome! :) Dive on in, we'd love to have you join us!
Michi - Way to go on starting up the cashiering :D It's gonna take a couple weeks for you to get into the full swing of things, but you'll be able to come up with a solid plan for your work days
I am awake, unfortunately. I would be sleeping, but I woke up... and now I can't get back down.
Yesterday I had sort of an "iffy" day on plan. It wasn't the worst, but it really could've been a lot better. So, I opened up my tracker just a minute ago and planned more thoroughly for today. Hopefully that will help considering I won't have a lot of sleep to rely on.
Back to quietly watching old British TV shows... ;)
07-26-2011, 06:18 AM
I'm jumping into this thread also. I kinda chatter a lot and the Featherweights is slow sometimes. I don't want to spam - but I really need to keep touch with this board to not go off plan. LOL. Kinda silly. But that's how it works for me right now.
A tiny bit about myself I guess:
25 year old to be 26 by friday. (WHAAA!) - for the first time in my life I am enjoying a thing called "excersise". And I'm eating super healthy. I'm on a tight budget here for the coming year which has me feeling ick somewhat. But taking control of my foods helps with that ick.
I'm into politics (Green Party), sustainability and all that other "be good for others and the planet because that's the only way to be" stuff that one can do in life. But mostly I'm suppose to be into graduating this year and my job. And my health. So - it's gonna be boring. I feel a bit trapped - but after the life I've been living the past few years (lots of politics, debates, major backpacktrips) it's destined to feel a bit "small". Oh well - once I'm finally graduated I can travel the world again, and most likely in much better shape :D
So. Howdy Folks!
07-26-2011, 03:41 PM
Howdy right back 'atcha Philana =) Glad to have you join our little group. :D
Spam away whenever you'd like. We're not a "super busy" area, but we get around and do stuff. The more chatter the merrier!
07-26-2011, 08:55 PM
Nest - Welcome! Hope you enjoy the chatter :)
Philana - I love your True Blood picture :D Pam and Eric as so great. Alex Skarsgard himself is so sexy, I always drool a little bit over him when I watch the show ^^
Lovely - Wow you were up early today! I have to be up pretty early myself Thursday to catch a train at 7 am... yikes! I'm definitely not a morning person :(
Today I changed my tracker back to what it should read... I bought a scale at Target after not having access to one for 2+ months and yep... I'm back where I started weight wise. It was a major bummer, but I think now that I have access to the scale I can get my butt back in gear. I did my best when I could weigh myself each day and see the gradual .1 or .2 loss pile up. I thought it would be unhealthy to do a morning weigh in so early into my journey but I really think it's done more harm for me to not be honest and see that number.
So here's to (another) new beginning. A big thank you to all the chicks who have listened & helped along the way! :)
07-27-2011, 04:26 AM
Lovely - thanks for the warm welcome!
Michi - trueblood is the BEST show ever, I'm dying every week to wait for the new episodes. And goodluck with getting back on track! It's easy to "slum" when you don't have a scale to see the actual effect of your behavior. So hope this helps you keep at it again!
I am just PSYCHED today. Because I've officially lost 5kg/11lbs in the past 3 weeks. And only 1kg/2.2lbs to go to be at mini-goal of weighing 65kg! I just am so happy the first part went so smooth for me. And I am feeling actual differences in my body all at once. YAY.
07-27-2011, 09:12 AM
Michi - Girly  We're here for the whole journey whatever it entails. I know that I do my best having a scale to watch the progress, too!
Philana - CONGRATS! :cp: That is awesome progress :D
Mmm... Eric from TrueBlood... They're all so hot, but Eric is so... tall and... I just want to put him on display as if he were a Greek statue. *shakes her head* Ahem.
After I catch up on the forums I'm off to do more laundry.
07-27-2011, 12:56 PM
Thanks for the words of encouragement girls :) I'm feeling great today, ready to kick some butt and stay on track. I'm working late tonight (6 - 10 pm) so I'll have to eat my dinner a bit earlier than I prefer and make sure to bring along a snack for my break.
Tomorrow starts my 4-day vacation to Baltimore. I've got a nice selection of snacks for the ride down and to sustain me during the day but I know we'll be eating out a fair amount. It won't be a perfect 4 days on plan, but I am instead focusing on making better choices (i.e. grilled chicken wrap instead of a burger) instead of looking to be 100% perfect on plan and obsessing over calorie counts.
I hope everyone has a great day and I'll be back Monday to post about my adventures ^^
07-28-2011, 09:25 AM
Michi - Woot! Have fun and let us know about all those healthier choices when you get back :D
I'm aiming to get more done around the apartment today. As I've mentioned I'm having my sister and her kids and husband over this weekend, but now I'm a little stressed about planning food that everyone will like.
I was talking to my husband about maybe ordering pizza. I haven't had pizza in a long while, but we'll see. If we do, then I'm going to make a GIGANTIC salad to go along with it so that I won't eat a whole pizza by myself :o
08-01-2011, 01:48 PM
Hey gang! It's August. I've started up the new thread here! (http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/alternachicks/239711-alternachicks-chatter-august.html#post3967181)
