Lily love your choices. The brides are lucky to be getting something so unique. I bet that was interesting to see it being done. Hope that the soup is good. Ann great loss. Good for you. We went to see Chicago this afternoon. I loved it and sure wish I looked like one of those girls. Now I feel like dancing and singing all around the house. [they would think that I have lost it} Now I am feeling like Glends-I have seen 2 movies in 2 weeks. We saw Catch Me if You Can and liked that one too. Gotta run,

Hi Everybody
Lily I stopped by and had a look at the web site you gave us. The glassware is really lovely. Did you go to that glassblowing place when you were in Maui in a town called Makawao. I think it's really impressive how they get the glass so hot and are able to form so many lovely objects. I think the place in Makawao is a family owned business that has been there was some time. We have been there a couple of times now. :)
Maria you have really hot weather now and we have really cold weather. Even your winters are not that cold. Lucky gal. :lucky:
Ann good for you. :bravo:
You sure have a handle on your weight.
Gosh I don't remember the other posts, but hi to all. Talk to you tomorrow.

G'day all,

Yesterday I went to see a new doctor. She specialises in women's health, her father was the doctor who I saw when I was pregnant with ds! We had moved away from the area and for the last 15 years I saw someone else, now that we have moved into the area again (2 years ago) and I am really not that happy with my 'old' doctor, I decided to make the break and see someone locally.
I have been sleeping so badly with pains and aches in my joints that it really is starting to get me down.
The new doctor send me off for blood tests and is giving me athorough check up. I have asked my previous doctor for the same but she always dismissed me with saying that I don't need it. I would just like to know why I have those aches and pains, at least when you know you can learn to live with it.
This doctor thinks it could be menopausal, I thought I had well and truly past that but she wants to check it further.
I wasn't too bad whilst we were in Sydney where it is a very humid climate, since being home (a dryer climate) it is getting quite bad which makes me think it is arthiritis.
Anyway I am glad I am now doing something about it to get to the bottom of it.
I also went to see my optician, had not been for 4 years. He said there was some deterioration but nothing major or unusual for people in my age group. He is a friend and I told him I want some really 'jazzy' specs, not the run of the mill variety! He had none in stock but will get some next week and bring a few pairs for me to choose from.
Still no word when we actually go to New Zealand, they are still waiting on some signatures!!
I am picking up the 'newly weds' from the airport tomorrow. They have had a wonderful time, I am looking forward to seeing them eventhough ds has rung several times for no reason other than to let us know how happy he is

Lily how was the Mexican soup? I love soups, especially the low points one ;)

Ann how are the renovations going?

Trudy how is your grand daughter coming along, I bet she is gorgeous.

Hi to everyone, hope you are all well and you are having a good day.

Cheers
Maria

Peggy: I was fun I could spend hours watching them. Havent seen CAtch me if you can sounds good.

Slavika: Yes I did go to that Glasshouse. It was wonderful. We bought a very small bowl there. It was a very unique place.
And I will diffently go back as I loved the whole town of Makawao.

Maria: Hope the Dr finds out whats going on. Dont blame you for switching back. Sounds like the old Dr was doing nothing for you. There has to be reasons for Aches and pains. Sounds like she wasnt listening to you. :(

The soup was good but I found it to be missing something not really sure what. Maybe didnt put enought chili powder in. DH loved it and siad it wasnt missing anything so maybe its just me :)
Put it on the site to.

Not bad points wise for the serving size you get.

Remember the 123 thing I was talking about? I know it is the page numbers, but I can't access the pages through it. I have to go back to the main page and get the page number there. And the computer is very slow. Since I am at work, I don't take a lot of time so haven't spoken to you a lot lately.

Maria - hope New Zealand is soon. And there are no tips to raising a schnoodle, except to love them. They are the best natured dogs and just love to be loved. Mine is a lap dog deluxe.

Anne - hope the big remodeling job will be done soon.

Trudy - Is your baby girl named Angel? Have your feet found terra firma yet? I am so excited for you and know the total euphoria. Pretty wonderful.

I am out the door for my cancer test. Keep fingers crossed and me in your prayers.

G'day all,

Beautiful day here today. Took dh to the airport this morning to go to Melbourne and in an hour or so I am returning to the airport to pick up the newley weds who are arriving from Perth.

I have a friend coming for lunch, she is doing a 4 year landscape design course and is using my front garden as a project for her course! When we are ever home long enough, the rough design that she has done will be great.
The original landscaping was done by the builder and it was very ordinairy.

I am now so pleased that I have made the move to a new doctor, I am sick of being so sore. I am seeing her again on Friday when the blood tests results are in and I am hoping she will have some answers.

Glenda my dd's schnoodle will be a super duper deluxe lapdog:D I am sure it will be very spoilt :dizzy: I told her you had one and she said that she knew that they are quite popular in the USA but most people here don't know what you are talking about when you mention 'schnoodle'.
By the way, how is your work going? I know you had some changes some months back. Of course I am sending some very positive vibes :goodvibes from down under and hope all will be well with your cancer test.

Lily thanks for posting the soup recipe other than that some of the ingredients I have never heard of! eg scallions, cilantro and I have never seen tomatoes and green chillies canned!
You will appreciate this, a friend just rang this morning to say that her husband will let me have his copy of Photoshop 7:cp: :cb: I thought he might and I downloaded a trial version for 30 days from the net, it is just the best so I am very excited that I am now getting it. DH said that if it wasn't given to me, I could buy it but as you know it is very expensive so to have it 'donated' is just great. Friends dh is in his mid seventies and his health is failing, he is very happy for me to have it because he knows how much I enjoy Photoshop.
I have been messing about doing animations, it will be good to try out different things on my webpage. I wil certainly have the time when we are in New Zealand.

Talking of New Zealand, yesterday the hierachy structure was emailed to DH with who is doing what in New Zealand, still no date but it seems that it will definetly happen.

Best be off and get ready for the airport.

Have a great day
Cheers
Maria

I hope you can feel all those GOOD vibes coming from me. When will you get your results? I think it takes like 2 or 3 days, doesn't it? I know that you already had the test done, so it is the waiting now. I'm thinking about you, and of course you are in my prayers. :grouphug:

Glenda I am sending good thoughts your way. Keep positive. Maria you should change drs if you are not comfortable with the one you have been seeing. Hope that they can discover the cause of the aches and pains. Cilantro is sort of like parsley and scallions are onions. Lily that soup sounds like something I have to try. Winter is soup weather for me. I went to my niece's dd 16th birthday party last night. They sure do grow up fast nowadays. Seems like yesterday she was a baby. Was good-no cake but only because she didn't want one. Had those good old piecrust things rolled in cinnamon sugar. Have to run,

LilyG

Maria: Scallions are Green Onions (those little ones with long stems)
Cilantro is a Mexican herb can be fresh or dried. I find it in the asile with all the other herbs.
As for the Tomatoes with Green chilies I couldnt find it either so I added a can of plain old tomatoes and a can of green chilies.
Lucky you getting Photo Shop for free! It is expensive. I do have a Limited Version that came with my scanner, Doesnt have all the goodies but still has quite alot.

Glenda: Will be thinking abiut you. Lets us know as soon as you get the results back.

Peggy: I love soup to this time of year. Have it almost everyday for lunch.

Hi everyone: I guess that Maria and I were writing at the same time on the last thread, so I didn't get the notice of the new one. I am really behind.

Glenda: I am so happy for you that all is well. By the time I read all the posts, I found that you had the test and got the results.Prayers do work, that is for sure.

Lily: Did you ever try Rotelle? It is very popular here. It is tomatoes and green chiles. My dh uses a can of Rotelle and a small box of Velveeta cheese. Melts it all in the microwave, stirs, and uses it for nachos or dip. The rotelle comes in mild or hot. That would probably work with your soup recipe. We aren't much for Mexican style food, but think I'd like to use the recipe for just the turkey meatballs.

Maria: Glad you are going to a Dr. who listens to you. After all, who knows your body better than you. You know when something is not just right. Hate to say it, but it does sound like it could be osteoarthritis. One of the blessings of being over"39":D

Good news - the project is finished. Just waiting for Service Master to come and clean the carpet. But I have everything back in place, and have thrown out lots of junk that had accumulated in the cabinet drawers a dnunder each sink. The new cabinet is wonderful. Much nicer than the old one, and also the new sinks. The insurance did not provide the new sinks. Those are our present to ourselves. We're not going to take the chance of either of us having another lapse of memory with the water on and the drain stopped.

Peggy: Two movies in two weeks!! :joker: We haven't been to a movie since we saw 'Greek Wedding'. I understand that they are going to make a T.V.show out of it.

We are expecting company from Norway in Feb. My dd entertained an AFS exchange student when she was a senior in High School We have kept in touch all these years, and so she and her husband and daughter are coming for about 10 days. They can only give us an approximate arrival time, since they fly stand-by. He is a Captain for Scandinavian Airways. They just call us when they get here. Expect we will be taking in some of the attractions while they are here. Tired feet. But she has MS so no one goes too fast. She has to rest.

Trudy: How is your little Angel? Getting lots of TLC, I imagine. Have you been able to pull yourself away for teatime?:D:

Slavika: you and Lily make Hawaii sound so great. I sure would love to go there someday, but can't persuade my DH to go. He spent so much time traveling when he was at sea, that it has to be something pretty special to make him leave home. When we went cruising, he did that for me, since he spent so much time on ships. But working on a freighter is sure a whole lot different that a cruise ship.

Hope that this next weigh-in will be good. I am determined to get back to my goal weight. Talk to tomorrow. Ann

Glad your work is done. Im sure you are glad its over with to. Enjoy the new stuff!

Glenda, so happy for you. I can feel your relief. Now go out and have some fun. Ann I love that dip but I eat too much of it. Glad to hear that your bathroom is finished. Now remember to turn the water off. It is going to snow again today. Blech! I am ready for spring. Trudy how is the little angel doing?

G'day all,

It might be cold and snow your way but here it is 39 degrees today, a 'cool' change tomorrow, top temperature of 34 and then on Sunday the forecast is in the low 40ish which is well over the 108 F :fr:
Thank goodness for airconditioning. DS is playing in a cricket match on Sunday. All lower grades are cancelled when the temperature is over 38 but ds plays 'A' grade and those games are not! The game goes for the full day, starting at 10 am and finishing at 6 - 6.30 pm.

Went back to the doctors this morning and all the blood tests showed that everything is functioning fairly normal and the pain in my hips is, as Ann said, probably osteo arthiritis. She has given me some medication and if it is not better in a week to come back and have xrays done of my hips. She now also is very reluctant to give me HRT because of having had breast cancer.
The good news is of course that all the test are normal but the bad news is that there is no miracle cure for the arthiritis.:(
She also suggested if I was to loose some weight, it would also help. After the wedding, christmas etc. dh and are back on the straight and narrow and hopefully I will loose some of this weight.

I am off to the beach to have a swim.......

Have a great day all
Cheers

Just received this reminder about why we should drink more WATER

WATER
1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half world population.)

2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.

4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50%less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day?

COKE
1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for sumptuous brown gravy.

8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:
1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.

2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous Material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would YOU like a glass of water or coke

Hello Everyone,

Goodness, so much has happened since I last posted, the wedding has been and gone, many recipes have been posted, new doctors etc etc etc.

Since I was last here we have gone into Summer in dear old Melbourne and the weather is just following in Adelaide's footsteps, we are expecting a 39 degree day on Sunday, why don't you keep it Maria? We have had a good Christmas but the New Year already has been sad as my girlfriend's husband passed away early in January and this put a damper on things. I have had a virus in my computer and was unable to use it until it was fixed. My son came home from Ballarat and got rid of the virus for me and then I had to load everything again - hence I m now back to Ash without the e once again. Trying to work out how to access the site again was a real trial but eventually I managed to do it.

Well ladies take care and keep up the very informative posts, by the way congratulations on the great results Glenda and good luck on the results Maria, I hope they give you answers once and for all.

Regards to you all,

Jenye/Ash

I'll take water too. The last job is done on the bedroom. Service Master came and cleaned the floor. So we are complete. Hip Hip Hurray.:D:
Maria: Glad your tests were all okay. It is too bad there isn't more help for the arthritis, but there it is! There are some new medications out, but I wouldn't take any of them now, as they do funny things to me, like make me think I'm having a heart attack because it did bad stuff to my esophagus.

Welcome back Jenye. Wondered where you were.

Hi Everyone. Will check back later for more news. Ann

G'day all,

Nice to 'see' you again Jenye I have wondered what was happening with you. We have just come back from our walk on the beach and boy it is very hot already eventhough it is supposed to 'only' :dizzy: get to 34 today.
Tomorrow will be awful and we have to go to a luncheon and then on to ds' cricket match.:fr:
DH is off to Sydney on Monday and then the week after that we will probably go to New Zealand. The weather is quite cool in New Zealand so that will be nice.

Ann pleased your house is back to how you like it to be. I am taking Viiox for the arthiritis, is that something you took for yours? One of the side effects is stomach upsets, I'll just see how it goes.

I think I will just spend the day in airconditioned comfort and work on changing my website.

Cheers

Hi Everybody
Jenye hi there. Nice "seeing" you again. Sorry about your computer trouble. I wish people would find something else to do with their time then start computer viruses. :(
Glenda happy about your GREAT results. :cb: :cb:
Maria hope the medication helps with your aches. Do you feel worse in the hot weather?
Ann bet you are happy that the work has been finished, and that you like it. :)

I received my copy of Taste of Home magazine, "Light and Tasty" and there was a recipe in there for Chocolate Cupcakes so I made them this morning. Just a great recipe and only 2 points per cupcake. I thought you gals might like it, especially Lily and Karen to share with their WW classes. Here it is:

Chocolate-Coconut Cupcakes
from Light & Tasty Feb/Mar 2003

6 egg whites
1-1/3 cup sugar DIVIDED
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
¼ cup baking cocoa
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon almond extract
½ teaspoon cream of tarter
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup flaked coconut

Place egg whites in a mixing bowl, let stand for 30 minutes. Combine 1 cup sugar, flour, cocoa and baking powder. Sift together twice; set aside.
Add almond extract, cream of tartar and salt to egg whites, beat on medium speed until soft peaks form. Gradually add the remaining sugar, about 2 tablespoons at a time, beating on high until stiff glossy peaks form. Gradually fold in cocoa mixture, about ½ cup at a time. Gently fold in coconut.
Fill paper-lined muffin cups (mixture will NOT stick to liner) two-thirds full.
BAKE 350, approx 30 - 35 minutes or until golden brown and top appears dry. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pan to wire racks. Tip: The cupcakes freeze well too.

Yield: 18 cupcakes
One cupcake equals 103 calories.

Hi all: It is cold for us. Frost last night and it is expected to be lower tonight. I had to comver up my flowers. Of course, I'm sure all you Northerners aren't the least bit sympathetic, since you get to experience what is really cold!!!!:(

Was very pleased by my weigh-in today. Down another 1lb. Getting closer to my goal weight. Maybe it is the excersice in the cold that is doing it.:D:

Maria: I hope that you will be one of the lucky ones that can take Vioxx. It was not for me. I took it four days, and ended up in the emergency room thinking I might be having a heart attack. It turned out to be esophageal spasms. But I have a friend nearby, who takes it all the time and it has done wonders for her. I'm just a bit on the wierd:joker: :yikes: side when it comes to medications.

Did you all get emails about the recalls of most cold and flu meds, since they contain phenololpaline(spelling) I thought it might be one of the hoaxes that circulate, so checked it out and it is true. It has been discovered that it can cause brain hemmorages, leading to stroke, especially in women. I can't take that stuff anyway so I didn't have to check my medicine cabinet, but I know many people take any number of those over-the- counter remedies. They gave a long list, I can't even begin to remember.
You can check it out at www.Vmyths.com You can get the whole list. I do remember that Alka Selzser plus was one of them.

Slavika: that recipe sounds good. I get the magazine, but haven't had time to really look at it yet. Could you use the egg whites that come in a carton like Egg beaters, or do they have to be fresh ones. I never tried to beat those.

We learned in our meeting how to go to Fast Food places and stay with-in our point system. One lady suggested going to Wendys, ordering a side-salad, and a small chili, putting the chili on the salad for a Taco salad. Only 4 points. We rarely go to fast food places, except for Fazolis, a FF Italian restaurant. But they have some good choices for 5 and 6 points.

Lily: Homemade valentines make me think of how I met my DH. We were at a Valentine party and we all had to bring a homemade one. His was a heart, with a tear running down. That one got me.

The carpet is all cleaned now and we are back to normal.:jig: :cp:  Now every time I run water in any sink I am remended of my poor memory, so I can assure you it won't happen again. But I am enjoying all the new stuff.:D:

Hi Karen, Trudy, Glenda, Peggy, Jenye. Have a good rest of the weekend all. Ann
