How often do you step on the scale?
How often does everyone get on the scale? I found since starting IP I can't seem to keep myself off. I know I should only be weighing myself once a week because weight fluctuates, but damn if I don't want to check everyday.
This is bad because if it has been 3 days (like today!) and the scale has not moved, I start questioning everything and it gets me upset. Now, I KNOW that this is not a good way to think and I KNOW that just because the scale has not changed doesn't mean that things aren't changing and I KNOW that this doesn't mean the program is not working. But I can't help myself?!?!?!?!
Deep down, I know all these things to be true. Does anyone else battle these demons too? Just curious if you all sneak peaks at your weight other than your official weigh in.
I constantly battle the scale. I try to not do it everyday for the same reason if it doesn't move I feel like giving up. Ive cut down to every 3 days lol. I really should only do it once a week but its so hard!
Up to about week 5 I was constantly on the scale (pretty much everytime I went to the bathroom). But I found that if I didn't see what I wanted to see I set myself up to have a miserable (pity party) day. Now I step on it about 3 times a week, the results don't always make me happy...but this far in the program I pay more attention to how far I've come - so it doesn't get to me as much.
If I were to give you any advise on this, it would be to wait until you are further in the program to weigh everyday. Really just so you don't have to deal with any additional emotional struggles or challenges than you are already dealing with (by giving up your favourite foods, staying OP, etc).
In the 3 months that I have been on this forum, I have seen many IPers struggle to mentally get over the number on the scale - it's a decision you have to make for yourself. If you want to weigh everyday..go ahead, just don't let it dictate how you feel about yourself. You are beautiful and should be proud of what you are doing for yourself - that should dictate how you feel about yourself!
i weigh every day so that i can keep track of my losses on my wii fit. my weight will fluctuate a bit within a week, but it doesn't bother me. sometimes it will show that i've gained a pound or two, but it always comes off in a day or so. the general trend is that my weight has gone down every week, even on the small loss weeks. that's enough to keep me positive.
I hate the scale so I only get on it once a week and that is the day I go in for my "official" weigh in at the clinic. I am afraid to do it more than that because if I show a gain it will put me in a tail spin emmotionally.
I check my weight every morning, right before I drink my first cup of water.
This morning, I am up a pound from yesterday. But my skirt is beautifully hugging my waist, which was not the case only a couple days ago. I do not care what my scales say, I do care how I feel.
I weigh in every morning. I've acknowledged a long time ago that I fluctuate between 5 pounds ALL the time, so I don't even get phased by the fact that one morning may be a pound or so heavier than the last.

LOL! Thanks ladies- it is good to know I am not alone I am definitely forcing myself to not get on the scale everyday because of the emotional rollercoaster it puts me on. And I am definitely focusing on all of the positives happening right now- such as a pair of jeans that did not fit last week fit this week. It is just so hard how much emphasis we place on that one little number...
I found out too (here) that I am a SW. So good/bad at it now because I went out and bought a scale with its own brain/bells/whistles. Morning/noon/night/and 3 more just in case. Only to watch the darn thing change its mind willy nilly all over the place. Entertainment value only because I am also loving my clothes.
I do it everyday in the morning to watch for trends. I also secretly love to watch the numbers go down. I also don't take it bad when the scale does not change or it goes up. The more salt I eat the more water I retain. I have also found when I make my lean protein eggs the scale is very nice the next day.
There are too many factors to really beat yourself up if the scale does not change or it goes up. Especially if you stay OP.

Another thing. I got keytone test strips. I do a quick check pretty much every morning. If the strip says even small keytones I am happy. I take that as an indication I am doing right.
