Good Monday Morning Everyone!!!! :D
WOW! What a weekend! It really was fun, but really all too short. It was so nice to finally meet GATORGAL & BIGORANGE, and then to get the unexpected surprise to BARBEE showing up!
Gatorgals home is very nice, and the pond she had told us all about over the summer is really pretty-her entire back yard is beautiful! All the grief she had over her kitchen was not in vain, it's very pretty.
Lunch was delicious. The chicken she made was delicious, and she showed me how to use the mandoline that my Mom got for me, and made zuchinni pasta-it was WONDERFUL and I can't wait to make some for myself! Bigorange made delicious pole beans that were a definite hit. My hummus was liked, as well as the quiche, which Gator has made in the past, but Bigorange had never tried. My zuchinni loaf cake, I made them into mini-loaves, and they were very good if I do say so myself (next time, I making them muffins!). I had a surprise for both of them, the Powerbelt I use, the gentleman sent me 1 for each of them gratis, so that was a their surprise - I can't wait for them to report how they like them!! See, an incentive to those of you who didn't come for next time (if I can try and get more). Narda (BIGORANGE) brought both Gatorgal and I a beautiful smelling candle-THANKS AGAIN NARDA!
Like reported earlier, we went to 2 HFS and then went to some outlet shops. My cell phone rang around 7:00pm and it was BARBEE asking where we were, then proceeded to tell me she and George were coming on down. They arrived around 8:30pm. I haven't seen BARB since the end of June, so I certainly saw a big difference in her-she looks great! We all headed to Outback for dinner and to chat.
Eli was with us, so he got to meet everyone and enjoyed the weekend as well. Sharon, my friend, joined us as well-she too had a great time. One of the other highlights of my weekend was that I was actually able to wrap a hotel towel around my body and keep it in place by tucking it at the top. For so many years, I've traveled with a beach towel cause none would go around me - this is a major deal! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif
Mt. Dora was lovely, despite the light rains all day. It was too darn cold for me, but that didn't damper the day. Narda joined us at Mt. Dora, Gail & Barbee did not. We parted ways about 2pm and Eli, Sharon & I headed to Marco Island for dinner, which was delicious-then got home.
Took quite a few pictures and hope to have the rest of the roll used up ASAP so I can post all the pics from it. I too hope that those of you who live not too far from another chick, or are going to be in an area near someone-please try to get together - it's really a nice experience!!! I can't wait to do it again!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, now on to some IMPORTANT NEWS!!!!!! I got an e-mail from SUZANNE (Old Hen and 3FC's owner) and they are making some MAJOR CHANGES to the boards that are going to impact us! So we really need to make some decisions, and FAST! Here's a copy of Suzanne's e-mail:
I need to tell you that we are going to upgrade to a new version of the forum. When we do, the old posts will be lost. The url will change slightly, and all the old posts will not be accessible. There is a way I can retain some of them, but no one will be able to use the search on them, because the search will only work with new posts. So what I'm going to do is go thru every forum and delete out all but the last week's threads. I'll leave the library and recipe forums untouched, so that we can copy and paste them over as new posts (deleting the old as we go). I would like you to choose how much of the old sugar-busters posts should be left intact. People will be able to read the posts but will have to backpage to get to them, since the search won't work. Everything I've said here is just a guess, by the way. I really don't know that much about it right now, I have several questions for the forum creators before I do the install. I am hoping to do it next weekend.
About sugar-busters chat... I've been contacted by Digi-Chat and given a special offer if I will come back as a customer. They had raised their rates before and I could no longer afford them. They are offering me a half price special, but I have to pay for a whole year in advance. I'll have it set up some time this week. When I do, I'll make a special Sugar Busters chat room, as well as other individual rooms like we had it before. I am hoping I can configure it so that I can make a link directly to the sugarbusters room and place the link on the sugarbusters forum. If it works, I'll have it added next weekend when I do the forum upgrade.
I'll let you know more when I get more information. Think about how much of the sugarbusters forum you want to retain. It will be difficult to keep much, because I have to manually transfer every thread. I'm anticipating it will take a good 8 hours just to transfer the member username files (based on the last time I made a similar change) So if you can get by with a week's worth, two at the most, I would appreciate it. Feel free to bump up older posts you don't want to part with, to bring them current :)
To me, I think having the INFORMATIONAL BOARDS should be among these 8 (there are 4 of them), as well as the latest BIO BOARD. Our problem is with the archived RECIPE BOARDS, we have quite a few. I'll see if she can transfer them all, but in case she can't, should we take the ones that we've had before the start of this year and put them all onto 1 board and make them THE RECIPES OF 2000???? PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT ALL OF YOU THINK!!!!
TODAY IS MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY!!!! Here is my contribution:
The Necessary Effort
We think of success as being glamorous and exciting. At its moment of culmination it often is. Yet for the most part, the essence of success is not so exciting. Usually, it can be downright tedious.
The actions, discipline and focus which lead to great achievement are themselves quite ordinary and unremarkable. Magnificent accomplishments are built mostly out of plain and pedestrian efforts. Even the greatest, most innovative ideas require ordinary hard work to implement. Without that work, they are nothing but unfulfilled dreams.
Are your dreams valuable enough to justify the effort needed to achieve them? Of course they are! Though the work itself could certainly be deemed difficult and tedious, in the context of reaching for your dreams it becomes as exciting and fulfilling as anything you could imagine.
Achievement requires plain old hard work. And because of that, it is available to anyone who is willing to do that work. Visualize your dreams and clarify your goals so that they will pull you steadily through all the effort needed to reach them.
-- Ralph Marston
I've got to get ready to go walk. I will be on sometime later this morning to respond to last weeks posts - it may take me a while, you all sure where busy while we were gone!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a fabulous week everyone!!! :D

Morning All!
I read a lot of the posts over the weekend but my house is soooooo hectic on the weekends I rarely get an opportunity to post. I do hope some of you read about my gestation diabetes brainstorm - now let's hope it comes to play with the success of this plan!
They closed school here today in "Anticipation" of this big snowstorm we're supposed to get, so I'll probably be at work till just 11 or so - darn, I had lots to do today!
I'm worried about this diet - I almost feel like I'm eating too much, having been accustomed to WW and the fat-free, portion controlled approach. I haven't weighed since last week, and although I am tempted to, I will wait till WIW...I've got a few questions in the meantime....
1. POrtion size - I'm eating REASONABLE portions, but for weight loss, where should the portion size fall? Should I folllow the ww guidelines for serving sizes??
2. Green tea - does the decaf version have the same metabolic and other benefits as the caf version?
3. Fats - the book says you can basically eat the full fat versions of everything - is that what all of you did to be successful (reasonable portions, of course), or did you cut the fat?
I know I had another question, wrote it down, can't figure out where...
GATOR, BIG O AND DEBELLI - Glad you had such a nice get together. I've done that a couple of times with gals from the other boards I participate in - fun, but not enough diet talk, LOL! Envious about that FLA sun....just 1 month and 18 days - I better start packing!
DEBELLI - I agree with you about what to retain for the new boards. I've checked the reference boards many a time already on this thread...I hope the recipe boards make it too as there are still many recipes I haven't gotten printed out...BTW I went back to WO and found that bread you mentioned - gonna have a slice later on today! I was surprised they didn't have any of the other sugar substitutes mentioned on this site...
Deb I'm sorry, I didn't intentionally not mention the POWER BELT....I saw if lying on the couch this morning and said...ooo I forgot to rub it in to the girls about getting this....
SO HERE I AM TO RUB IT IN!!!!
These things are GREAT...you all have not idea what you're missing. The minute you try it, you can feel it!!
Deb...THANKS AGAIN....
Did you see that Quilter is coming to TAMPA??? Maybe we can do a "for the day" thing when she comes...Think about it..
I've got to get to work...
Have a great day

Good Monday morning all!
Sorry I couldn't post over the weekend, busy busy busy. I had planned this super perfect SB dinner on Friday night - meatballs, WW pasta and broccoli BUT ... the meatballs kinds of disintegrated and turned into meat sauce which would have been fine except it turned the "main" course from meatballs to pasta w/ meat sauce. So I overate pasta, but at least it was WW, right? I also oven roasted the broccoli which is AWESOME, if you've never tried it. Last night had pot roast, caesar salad and brown rice with the roast gravy poured over it. As my dad says, "This is a diet???" ;)
It sounds like a great weekend in Florida. DH and I went to Key West last year and I love it! So if anyone wants to meet in Key West, let me know! :)
I got on the scale this morning and I'm down THREE pounds. So pleased, especially because I wasn't that great over the weekend. Thanks to everyone for the great support, now let's get this week off to a great start!

Hi,
BOy this board gets busy early. I usually am not here until late in the evening, but vacation changes things.
I have a movational thought that I received as a email. It just shows that we are products of our society and the effect it has on us is what we are dealing with every day. But we all are Beautiful women.
TO ALL THE BEAUTIFUL WOMEN I KNOW
Did you know that it's Beautiful Women Month?
Well it is, and that means you and me.
Did you know that if shop mannequins were real women they'd be too thin to menstruate?
There are 3 billion women who don't look like supermodels and only eight who do.
Marilyn Monroe wore a size 14.
If Barbie was a real woman, she'd have to walk on all fours due to her proportions.
The average woman weighs 144 lbs and wears between a 9-14.
One out of every four college aged women has an eating disorder.
The models in the magazines are airbrushed - not perfect!
A psychological study in 1995 found that three minutes spent looking at a fashion magazine caused 70% of women to feel depressed, guilty, and shameful.
Models twenty years ago weighed 8% less than the average woman. Today they weigh 23% less.
I hope all has a great day. Laurie

Wow! I lost 2.5 pounds last week. Yippee! That's a real incentive to keep going.
I was afraid to mention the Power Belt in my post because I didn't want to make anyone sad they missed out. But it is great. I did not walk this weekend, but demonstrated it to my hubby. He was impressed. Can't wait to try it out when my dau. and I go walking this week! She may want to take it from me.
I agree that we should keep the bio board. Definitely!! I refer back to that all the time. And the hints, etc. boards. I'd hate to lose the recipes. I refer to them too. Now, I'll just have to print off the ones I like, and that, in some way, negates the power of a computer. Too bad for the change.
Have a great Monday. I'd like to post more, but I have a full day.

Good morning ladies! Missed being on board this week end, but just got caught up on reading & wanted to make some delayed replies to some. So here goes.
Quilter, your Salmon patties & rice sure sound good...will have to give that a try.
Joy, thanks for the tidbit about the fishy diet. You sure have inspired me to add LOTS of fish to this WOE. I can already envision the losses increasing on this board. ;) I've never had fresh salmon, only canned, but love it. Talked to DH & decided we will buy salmon steaks or filet this week if I can find it.
Beerlady, good luck with the refinishing job on your floors. Sounds like you have a real task ahead of you.
Beach, sure sounds like you exercise alot. I tell you, after I've worked 8 to 12 hours a day, I just don't have the energy to exercise. Wish I did. However, I'm very active at work, (doing total patient care, bathing, turning, walking, etc) Lots of physical work cause most of them are elderly so I stay on the move alot. Like today, no time for lunch even. I do try to walk when the weather is nice & I have some time off. I know that I feel better when I do. It's just the time factor that is my biggest hinderance, I guess that's why I consentrate more on cutting back on the calories instead.
Rhroo, viewed your friend's web site with your pictures on it. Nice site. Your friend sure has lost a lot of weight also. Good for both of you! But I have not been able to view your web page when I click on the little house above your post.
SAS, great that those jeans fit. Sounds like you'll be pretty busy with that move to Boston. Hope you feel better soon. we'll be looking for news about your new place.
Bunny, 6 1/2 lbs this week! GREAT! you made up for lost time ;)
Overcome, your waffles sound fabulous! How sweet of your DH! Will look for the receipe. We buy Blue Bunny No Added Sugar Ice Cream from our local grocery store. Rocky Road has 4 g sugar, so does the Cherry Vanilla & Tin Roof. We eat it sparingly, but it does not give me any problems & it is sooooooo good! I saw the message too about the new forum & thought the same thing...wonder if we'll loss all our receipes...sure hope not!!
Gator, BOB, & Deb!!! thanks for the update on your visit!! We've all been wondering how it went. LOL the chocolate purchase by ??? LOL How wonderful that Barbee was able to join you'll for dinner. Sounds like you all had a WONDERFUL visit. Glad to see that everyone made it home ok !!! Deb sounded REALLY tired.
Cheriann, welcome. Glad you came to check us out. No need to go it alone with this great group of gals on this board. You've come to the right place for support. I'm only been on the board for a month, but I really love it & can't seem to get here often enough.
Sent this thread to my sister last night. I'm hoping she'll check it out.
Debbie, ready to do what I can to help!

Good Morning Again! :D
I have a lovely headache and would love to climb back into bed, but I guess I will get some 222's into me.
Got a 5 mile walk in this morning, felt good. Even though we walked a bit yesterday through Mt. Dora, it's not the same as when I walk daily.
I am back down to my lowest while on SB, 139, so I am PRAYING for a bit more of a loss by WIW!!
I hope you all don't mind, but with the task at hand of going through old posts, I am going to not reply to everyone from the weekend, unless it really was an important question. I read the posts though, just don't have time to respond to them all. I will reply to everyone starting today-if you posted something you really need me to answer, please e-mail me with it directly-hope you all understand!!!
FINALLYLOSIN & GLORY, I tried sending you both a mailing I sent the others and it wouldn't go through. Any ideas of what's going on??
QUILTER, flying into Tampa and staying where? BIGORANGE & IAMAP are not too far away from there, maybe you could meet! If it's possible to meet half way I'd be game as well if I'm free that weekend! Let us know!
OVERCOME, in the SB Shoppers Guide, it says you can eat PREMIUM TYPES WITH HIGHER FAT & LOWER SUGAR. I'd probably check out BREYERS since they don't put a lot of garbage into their IC.
CHERRI, WELCOME TO THE BOARD! We'd love for you to join us. The info you read about the percentages on fat, protein & carbs was posted originally by BEACHFAN which she found in an interview with one of the Dr.'s the co-authored the book. Also, if you get the SB SHOPPERS GUIDE, which I do recommend ($3.99 or less), on page 10-11 it states: [b]On Sugar Busters you will generally be eating fort percent (or slightly more)carbohydrates, thirty percent protein, and less than thirty percent fat, only ten percent of which should be saturated fat. These parameters are perfectly healthy and conform to those recommended by the AHA.[b] Hope this info helps! Please let us know what other questions you may have. Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD too!
CATHY, if you aren't able to fit the fruit in as suggested, eat it whenever you can. BEACH has done it, and I've had to do it on occasion. They believe it's for better digestion, but if you have no problems with fruit causing you indigestion, go ahead and eat it when you can-and you can have berries, any type, at any time, without trouble - no rules on those! Don't worry about the small loss, trust me, it WILL come. Letting your body adapt to this new WOE may take this past week, and you may really have lost more, but hormones can cause funky things to happen to people's bodies - be patient, and you'll be rewarded!!
JOY, thanks for posting the WIW info-that's a great loss. Hope to be among the losers this week!!
VIV, hope you don't get that snow storm. I would be thrilled to have my work day shortened, you must really love your job! Do utilize your WW info, it will help you with your eating and portion sizes. From what I have read, the decaf green tea is fine. I think you need to drink it soon after making it to get the most benefit from it. You may want to ask BEACH to be sure, she is the one who knows more about GT than I do. I usually don't eat a full fat version if there is a reduced fat-like cheese, cream cheese, yogurt, etc. BUT, I do eat fats! Glad you found the EZEKIEL BREAD, how did you like it?? The sweeteners, esp STEVIA should be where they carry the vitamins, not in the regular area. You should be able to find STEVIA PLUS there.
BIGORANGE, (I think we should rename you to BIGO, or BOB!) Glad you tried the Powerbelt, you'll have to let me know how you like it when you walk with it. I did see QUILTER'S message, lets see what we can work out. I figured out 2 squares of that chocolate has 76 cal, 6 fat, 1.6 sat., 4 carb, 0 fiber, 3 sugar, 0 protein - not bad!! Sharon called and said she had a piece this morning and loved it.
BELINDA, CONGRATS on the 3LB LOSS!! It's true that people have a hard time believing this is a "diet". I never feel like I am missing anything by following this WOE.
IAMAP, thanks for posting that info. I've seen it in the past, but it's good to read it again.
GATOR, congrats on the 2.5lb loss! You must be dancing around the pond. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif
MELF, is your sister following SB?? I bought 1 bar of the chocolate, though I haven't tried it yet - putting it into my stash. It's easier for me to find these than for BIGO. I must admit, when Narda opened one of those bars, it smelled like I was in HEAVEN!!!!!!!
For anyone interested, the CHOCOLATE BAR we bought is 70% cocoa, was bought at WHOLE FOODS and is by ELREY and was teh GRAN SAMAN. They have a website, http://www.chocolates-elrey.com (hey, enter for the free chocolate drawing when you get to the site!!).
I'm calling it quits for now-I'll check in with you all later!!!

Well, today is the "official" start of the change in my WOE. Only had 1 coke on Thurs and 1 on Fri - none since and I am not craving it - an answer to prayer.
I start back to work after a 2 week layoff at 3 this pm. I was also off the week, before, of and after Christmas. The line I work on makes parts for Chrysler, and you all probably know about Chryler's layoffs and closings. I heard we have a meeting tonight - possible seniority layoffs instead of line layoffs. I've been there 5 years. Hope that is enough. I'm planning on staying out of the break room until supper break - too many snack and pop machines. (For you southern gals, soda.)
I am so jealous of you in the warmer climates. In Illinois it is still cold and snowy - don't see the sun much. BUT, I know you girls farther north are suffering too. Too bad the groundhog saw his shadow.
Debelli, let me know what I can do.
Everyone else, keep up the good work. Eventhough I haven't posted that last couple of days, I have been reading your posts. You are a great bunch.

Good motivational Monday! I don't have much motivation-just to say -JUST DO IT!! don't just talk about it try to do it!!! (thats what i said to my mom today!) LOL
Sounds like everyone had fun with their powerbelts http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//crying.gif Wish i lived closer! LOL Let us know the results girls o.k?
Some one asked about S.F ice cream. I buy Edies Sugar Free its the best one i could find i think i know its less than 3g sugar per serving. (or i wouldn't buy it! LOL) Read your labels! I hope to get to WW tomorrow we are getting snow http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//nervous.gif I also hope the kids go to school too!
well got to go make lunch have a great Sugar Free day!!!!!!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!! We have at least 10" here in NE PA and it is still coming down. NO school today and maybe tomorrow!! I'll be going stir crazy by then. We have 4 wheel drive and I'd love to go out, but it is safer not to.
I visited that chocolate web site Deb. MMMMMM looked so good. I am not ordering a dozen bars though!! I'll be on the lookout for one of the SB legal brands when I'm out at a gourmet food store.I'll also check out Breyer's Ice Cream. I shouldn't eat it at all!! But it will be nice to know it's there if I want a small bit.
Rhroo...I love when you end your posts with "Have a sugar free day" I'll check out the Edy's as I know my grocery store carries it.
Viv...I haven't been choosing low fat over the regular product yet (with things like cheese, triscuits, etc.) I do drink skim milk. I may try some low fat items next time I go shopping. If I eat too many low fat items I start feeling like I am depriving myself, so I have started off with regular foods. I've been losing too (and I love cheese). So find your way and pick your sacrifices :)
Belinda....I often say to myself "this is a diet???" and I love it! Although anyone here will tell you it is a way of eating, making better choices, not dieting. Congratulations on the loss...it def. keeps you motivated. For me it is feeling more comfortable in my clothes :)
LAMAP...love the beautiful women thing. Society is scary to me. Warped!
MELF...thanks for the info on the ice cream. I just have a hankering for it!!
Off to read my book (new David Balducci) a little. I love snow days!! It is absolutely gorgeous outside. Snow everywhere!!!

Hey Gals!
Woo, thank goodness I am feeling better, that headache really incapacitated me for a few hours. I went to lie down and was sort of in and out of it, had to get up to get Michael at school and thought my head was going to explode! Got those 222's down and place a bag of chopped spinach on the pulsating spots and started to feel better a bit later, feeling 90% better now - gotta love those hormones!
QUESTION! I think it would be a good idea if we posted our location under our stats when we sign off. Many times I have to refer back to people's BIOS to see where they are from for one reason or another. I think it would be nice if newbies and lurkers were able to see where each of us are located without having to go through the bios. Let me know if you agree. You could put city & state, or just state. Of course, just like everything else we do, it would be optional. We could do:

Got another e-mail from Suzanne, and it seems we've won a reprive from this change she was going to make, here is part of the letter:
Hello!
Hold off on the notices to the members. I've been watching the Infopop support forum, and it seems that this latest greatest version is so bug-ridden, it looks dangerous to install right now. I have one friend that has had to close his forum down for at least a week! I'll wait until it's
been tested and approved, lol! So everything remains the same for now. I'm going to change my announcement on the forum soon. But I'll STILL work on that chat room for you as soon as DigiChat sends over the documentation for my setup. I'm not sure when it will be, I only know it will be sometime this week.
So with that information, I really do feel better! BUT, I still would like to get all the info into the correct boards, as I mentioned in my e-mails to you all. At least now, we can take our time, or until we hear otherwise. So, if you can help, just let me know via e-mail!!
COUNTRY, well, this is your OFFICIAL WELCOME TO SB DAY! Glad to hear you haven't craved a Coke. Wait until you get the sugar out of your system, you will be amazed! I really hope the layoffs don't effect you. I'll e-mail you with information on how you can help with my little project for the board.
RHROO, glad to see that picture of you on the website. Did you post it into your bio?? Hope you get to go to WW, and I wish you luck on the scales, be sure to let us know!!
OVERCOME, looks like it could snow here, but alas, that would take a miracle to have snow in Miami! Very overcast here today. At least I hope to get some cooler weather. Make sure you check out EL REYS retail site, they can tell you who in your state carries their bars! Here's the link:
Okay gals, I'm off to eat something. I got to eat breakfast before my lovely headache appeared and haven't eaten a thing since!
Check in with you all later!

Hi everyone. What a beautiful day it has been here in SW LA. Went for a walk earlier. Did 1 mile in about 18 mins. Walking against the wind coming back, so it took a little longer, but figured it helped to burn a few more calories...LOL But now I have a headach. Maybe cause I've been sitting here too long.
Great about the extension Debbie!
No, my sister is not following SB, but I sent her this site hoping she would check it out since she has admitted that she needs to do something about her weight. It would be neat for me to have someone else nearby to share this WOE with.
When I first started SB, there were others at work that were already following this WOE & loosing, but now there's only one. We do share information & ideas, but this site sure has helped me to stay motivated & committed.
I shared some info about my diet yesterday at work & the comment was "you just eat too healthy for us", but you know, I take care of patients that are often my age (52) or younger that have way too many health problems. I have enough of my own already & I am determined to take better care of myself. I want to not only make it to retirement age, but also want to be able to enjoy it when it gets here.
well, guess I need to get off my soap box & go see about supper. Put a roast in the slow cooker this am & plan to steam some veggies to go with it. See ya'll later!

About decaf green tea...I read in Prevention magazine that the process in making the tea decaf alters the tea and takes away most of the metabolism enhancing benefits. They had some big long explanation, but the bottom line is that the decaf doesn't work the same as the regular.
I'm glad I finally had something to contribute!

Whoooo Boy is my DH mad!!! He has been so good about adapting his recipes to SB. Tonight we had fried oysters (I LOVE THEM). He used ww bread crumbs. It didn't work well at all!! They wouldn't stick to the oysters. Then he used an egg with ww bread crumbs. Too thick. Normally he uses Italian Bread crumbs and voila! He is so used to everything coming out perfect when he's cooking, that this threw him for a loop. As far as I was concerned, the were DELICIOUS! We ended up taking most of the coating off before we ate them. Good thing b/c I ate about 2 dozen. He marinates the oysters, but he won't give me the recipe. All I know is there is lemon juice involved. Wish I could share with you all.
He also tried a new recipe that I got off the "Sane Way Of Eating" web site. It's called Cauliflower Divine and it is supposed to be a substitute for mashed potatoes. It was wonderful. You have to like cauliflower. We sure enjoyed it! IT's a keeper. I'll post it on the board.
I'm on my way over to FitDay to see how much those oysters cost me!!

I just had a bunch of stuff written and it disappeared... well, you guys will benefit from it as I won't be so longwinded now...
It keeps snowing and snowing...I wonderr if school will be delayed tomorrow....yikes, more complications....
Since I am an official SB-er now, I just want to make you aware of something stressful I'm going through. My 80 yo Dad who lives 3000 miles away, in CA, with his wife...just got confirmation that there is a "mass" on his lung. He goes for a catscan tomoro...this in addition to cardiac issues he's had for years. So think good thoughts for tomoro...it stinks being an only child...
OK, onto more pleasant stuff. I really like the Fitday site - it really keeps me on track and I see that I have to adjust my fat consumption. I'm really nervious about WIW because I could really use some positive news about now!
Overcome - can you please post the WW waffle recipe? Waffles are the only things my DH cooks, so it would be nice to benefit from that! You're lucky he cooks! It's great news that you haven't cut the fat and are still losing - after all these years on WW, it feels strange not to worry obsesively about the fat...
Belinda - Oven roasted broccoli - great idea! I assume you just coat it with a bit of olive oil and roast at 500? Congrats on the -3!
Laurie - I really enjoyed that info about Women. Esp the "average" info....
Gator - Way to go on the -2.5!!! I hope I can post that kind of news regularly!
Rhoo - I enjoyed those pics. I wish I could take the time to get some pics of us up on the web....
Deb - thanks for the STevia tips. I was definitely looking in the wrong place. I hope you dip below that 139 soon! I had a horrible headache today too, took 5 advils over time and a nap to get rid ofit. i was worried it was a migraine. Good idea about the location, I'll start doing it asap, if I remember...No limits on beries, that's great news.
MelG - thanks for the green tea info. I;ll switch back to the caf version tonite.
Country - welcome to the fold! I found starting this program to be really easy, hope you find it the sameway.
Melf - I totally agree about the health issues. How many people do we see abusing their bodies when they are young because they are in "invincible"? I want to bang their heads on something and make them understand what they are doing to themselves! I have a co worker, a guy, who is typical of the ignorance around us -= he's quite overweight, smokes, isn't active....and just doesn't want to learn about how to really take care of himself. Drives me crazy, he's a great guy, a great technician too - andhe's young! LOL, don't rub it in about the nice weather....it's been snowing here for 9 hours......
Well, off to help out the high maintenance kids...
Well I have a question for all of you! I was reading the label on the WOW chip bag. It says 0 sugar. Does that mean they are legal? I wouldn't want to overdue it but it would be a nice snack once in awhile.
Have a grand night :o)

Hi Everyone :)
Happy Monday. Here is my motivational thought for the day:
My thoughts direct my actions,
My actions become my habits,
My habits define my character,
And, my character is the birthplace of my destiny
Remember to think "NO SUGAR".
I've had a busy day at work. Still doing fine on SB. Today I am up some because of my TOM which is coming and I feel very bloated.
A couple of comments on questions in post...
I try to excercise 5 days a week but am not always able to do so. I read an article that said successful maintainers of weight loss excercise at least 5 days a week for 30 minutes a day. BUT, when I started on SB I could barely make it around the block so I only walked one block one time a day. Start small and then as you lose build up to more :D
Green tea...I also read that the decaf is not as effective. I drink mine in the mornings so it doesn't keep me up at night.
If you are interested in the percentages of fats, carbs and proteins recommended by the authors, go to www.sugarbusters.com (http://www.sugarbusters.com) and find the Rick Mendosa interviews with the authors. They are very very interesting and even emphasize that they didn't want to have legal and illegal foods because this is a WOE. That was also where I found that you could eat WW cheerios and Special K.
FLORIDA GIRLS: I am so glad ya'll had a good time. I thought about you alot and knew that you were doing the SB thing in style
Oh and Deb: Have you heard from Georginna lately or Fruit. We miss them.
Have to run. See ya'll tomorrow.

Happy Monday everyone! Boy, I sure do get on late on Mondays. Oh well better than never.
ORANGE---You made my day with just the suggestion of a small get-together when I am down in the Tampa area. That would be so much fun. We were thinking about going to Epcot or the Universal Studio thingy. Is that any closer to anyone? I’ll understand if it doesn’t work out. But it sure would be great to see some of you.
BELINDA---Girl, you need to talk more about the oven roasted broccoli. Are there any specific instructions to do this? It sounds yummy. As a matter of fact, all the meals you described sounded heavenly. I so enjoy making my gravy with WW flour and not feeling guilty about it. Tee-hee! Also, congrats on the 3 pounds.
DEB--We are flying into Tampa and staying at my niece’s fiance’s condo in Parrish, FL. Does that sound familiar to anybody? I’m not exactly sure what our plans are. Like I told BOB above . . . we may go to central FL on the weekend. Miami is pretty far from there, isn’t it?
CATHY H---Where is Delta? Are you near Cincinnati? Or are you up north? Hope it’s warm where ever you are. Brrrrr.
OVERCOME---I want that cauliflower recipe. That sounds wonderful. Your DH sounds wonderful, too. Mine will cook, but nothing complicated with bread crumbs or things that need marinated. He’s a basic cook. But I’m still thankful for that.
VIV---I’m so sorry to hear about your dad. I will put him in my prayers and good thoughts. My parents are close to their 80’s and their health keeps getting progressively worse. It really puts us in a bad position. I’m sure you are feeling like you are way too far from him right now. It’s good that his wife is still with him. Hopefully, he can lean on her. I’ll pray for a full-fledged miracle. Let’s hear it for a disappearance of the mass. Wouldn't that be wonderful?
Well, gals, as always, you continue to inspire me and keep me going on this program. Thanks to each of you.
Talk to you tomorrow.

Are we keeping a weight loss board for the week any more? I didn't see one. Actually, I saw one, but it was really for exercise. I want to record my 2.5 pound loss for the week, as I have WIMonday instead of WIW.

Good evening. Hope everyone has had a good day. My cravings are getting less and less and I am so thankful. In fact, I am finding that it does not take much food to satisfy you once you get the sugar junk out of your system.
Here is something that was on Joyce Meyer's daily calandar for today and I thought it was pretty appropriate for us.
LIVE NOW!
In the reaching toward what lies ahead in the future, we must not lose sight of now! Don't lose today being concerned about tomorrow.

Hello all (again)
Roasted Broccoli (from the Diet Chat site)
coat broccoli in olive oil / pam, I crushed a clove of garlic in it, tossed it, put it on a cookie sheet. 500 degrees for 10 minutes. (I know I should put this on the recipe board but since you asked for it here...)
I need to start drinking my green tea. I love it, but in the mornings I feel like I need to start with my water and I forget at night. You swear this works??? I tried another recipe tonight, I'll post it on the recipe board so you'll have to look there. DH said it was a winner and he RARELY says that about my cooking! :)
There was so much I was going to say but now I forgot. Does anyone else watch Raymond? I laughed so hard tonight. Anyway, today was a rough day (everything went wrong and it was all *my* fault -- one of those days) but I stayed legal. Yay! Don't know if I'll do WIW since I had such a good WI this am - don't want to ruin it!
Good night all!

Hi everyone! Well, today I went shopping and bought only the things that I can eat on this WOE. Then my son came over this evening and I gave him all the other things from my fridge and cupboards. I am ready to begin and am so excited.
Thank you all for the motivation. I promise to post something next Monday.

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone! :D
Fell asleep last night so wasn't able to get in a evening post http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sleep.gif
Eli is off today, so that means running around up in Broward, Ole Ole is a given today :)
Thanks for all the offers to help, you are all so great! I love having a group effort! I will be trying to e-mail you all with your "assignments" sometime today/tonight, thanks again for all your help!!
Thanks for posting your "locations" on the board too - it's nice to see at a glance where everyone is from!!!!
MELF, that's a nice walk you had! I too ended up with a headache after I walked yesterday, but it was definintely hormonal, and a doozie at that! I hope your sister decides to follow SB with you, that would be motivation for both of you! Trust me, those people are just plain jealous. Thanks for the info on the decaf green tea!!
OVERCOME, I know how your hubby feels. Sharon, my friend, make delicious baked eggplant and she was over and wanted to make that for us, well, I made her use bread crumbs I had made, one batch from triscuit type crackers, then another from the Ezekiel bread-it was a disaster, no one would eat it and it got ditched, and fast! At least you got to eat yours-ours found it's way to the garbage!
VIV, sorry to hear about what is happening with your father. Please keep us informed on what they find in the scan-I hope it's nothing. When I said no limit on berries, just to make sure you understood me, that's you can eat them at any time and shouldn't have a problem-just wanted to clarify it :)
BEACH, thanks for the motivational words. Nope, I haven't heard from either of them lately. Trust me Anna, if you get to Clearwater, we will find a way to meet with you as well-so let us know if this comes to be in your plans this year.
QUILTER, I've never heard of Parrish, but looked it up and it seems to be about 63 miles from Ft. Myers. I would love to meet you there. That's a few hours from me, but not as bad as going to Tampa area. You are going to be VERY CLOSE to BIGO and IAMAP! So lets see what we can plan - how long will you be staying there, until what date?? Let us know!!
GATORGAL, usually JOY has one up and running-I'm sure she'll get it posted up there if she doesn't have one already. Hold onto that loss real tight and we'll get that board up so you can post your loss!!!
EBABE, thanks for adding that motivaitonal thought! Glad to hear the cravings are getting less and less-they'll disappear soon!!!!
BELINDA, I love Raymond - it's such a funny show. I died laughing about the "measuring"! Thanks for sharing the broccoli dish with us! Sounds yummy!
CHERI, glad to hear you are upbeat and ready to roll into a healthier WOE. Remember, don't hesitate to ask questions, we're all in this together!!
KAPOLA, with sourdough, I don't think it's ever made with WW flour, so just look for one with no sugar, or where there is 3grams of sugar or less per serving. They are definintely out there-just need to read the labels. Try to get one that has no/very little preservatives, I read the label of one and put it back on the shelf so fast-tons of preservatives!!!
CATHY, don't worry about the scales - if you are feeling better, that's what more important, the scales will go down!! Hope it doesn't snow too much for you!
Well, it is TUESDAY TIPS and here is my contribution:
This is nothing great, but I think it's a good tip that I use. I decided to use butter instead of margarine when I needed to. I rarely use butter, but like the taste on my toast when I eat it. I take a stick of butter and cut it in half and this becomes "my half". When I take my toast out of the toaste oven, I immediately rub my butter directly onto the toast. It uses very little to get that buttery taste onto it, and I don't even have to make a knife dirty!!!
Well gals, I'm off! I will check in with you all sometime later today.
Please remember, TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!!! I hope the scales are kind to you all!!!!

Hello again, ladies!
I've been lurking but not posting, mostly because I haven't been a "good girl" with my eating. I never really even started SB-just read the book & the boards & wished I had the nerve to take the plunge! The thought of living without potatoes and wine makes me crazy (I know, I know - that half full glass thing...I should focus on all the great things I CAN have and quit feeling sorry for myself about what I CAN'T have!).
But I know I have to make some serious changes...I'm tired of feeling lousy. I'm not the "diet" type (which is good!) but I've been looking for a WOE that makes sense, isn't a fad thing that will harm my health, and is something I can stick to forever. SB makes the most sense of anything I've ever read, and my endocrinologist recommended it.
Just need a shove toward motivation...I'm scared. Does that make any sense?!?! It's just been easier to stay in denial. ;) Tell me there's success ahead of me if I give up my addiction to potatoes!!! :D
Hey, CATHY H - we're sorta neighbors! I live south of Cleveland. Snowing here too. Yuck.
DEBELLI - thanks for all your hard work.

Good morning!!!
Sorry I didn't get to post last night, but I had a rotten day at work and bad news at the doctor..... home to make dinner.... then stamp club.... then bed.
I'll be starting the WIW board in a minute. I had been doing it on Wednesdays, but I should do it at the same time I post the weekly losses.
I really like FitDay. It is really helping me to keep track of what I'm eating and it's starting to show on the scales as well. Can't wait until tomorrow for the official loss.
Well it turns out I will have to have this lump on my wrist taken care of. I went to the doctor on Friday, and he sent me to a specialist. I saw him yesterday, and he's concerned about the lump. He says it's sitting right on a branch of nerves and an artery, and doesn't feel like a ganglion nor is it in a place where ganglions normally are. He wants to take it out and biopsy it. We're shooting for the 15th, as soon as my insurance approves it. I'll keep you posted.
I'm sorry I can't post individually this morning. It's difficult when you get behind!!

21 inches of snow - it took DH 1.5 hours to blow our long driveway so I could get out...
Just wanted to ask all for good thoughts pointed at California today, that my Dad's catscan shows just scar tissue or something in his lungs. I'm really scared...
I'll try to post later, kids are at my office and I can't concentrate....
Well we are snowed in here! YUK and the kids are home. I didn't go to my WW meeting i will try to get there tomorrow. I don't know if i lost a oz! LOL I had a baking urge again i don't know why the weather does this to me. I did o.k with it the kids where shocked when i kept saying they could have more! LOL
As far as excersise today i think it will be shoveling and bowling with the kiddies! Then tomorrow back to my regular thing -not my walk http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//crying.gif I hate walking in boots! LOL
I was trying to think of a tip I think i gave them all to everyone! One tip would be to take a before picture because they are motivating! When i see older pictures of me i can't believe how much healthier i look now. http://www.geocities.com/rhroo_99/index.html
that is my picture page-someone mentioned it wouldn't come up -hope it works some of the pics are not that great i don't have many full body shots! (ya know i was the one taking the pics! LOL) I mentioned my best friend losing weight also she saved a pair of jeans we plan on taking a picture in them when we are at goal. She is down about 80 and me 56 at goal we will have lost well over 150 together!
Cathy-you sound like you are doing great just do what you should be doing the weight will follow! How you feel is much more important i think! Was it you who asked about the wow chips??? they are not legal! I think they are potatoes! LOL i maybe wrong not an expert! keep up the great work
Deb-glad you don't have to do all that extra work right now. Let us know when your plan to get the menu board up!!! Nice to see the 139 still!
viv-hope your dad is going to be o.k. It must be hard living so far away sometimes you feel helpless. Did you get any snow last night?
Ebabe-keep up the good work those cravings will be gone! I was a major carb freak i don't even bat an eye at them anymore!
cherianne-welcome and good luck keep us posted and let us know if we can help you sound really motivated!
christian-glad you had a minute to breath and tell us what was up with you-I love ezicials a whole loaf lasts me about a month!
cmd-hope everything works out with your wrist-are you in pain? You are always so uplifting thanks for that!
gotta go get the kids in their "snow gear" lol what a chore alone-the 5 yr old goes out for 10 minutes! this after 15 min. of getting ready! She only does that so she can get hot cocoa when she comes in!!! My snow bunny!!! Good luck everyone! I will have some kind of weigh in tomorrow hope its a good one! I need a boost

Really enjoying this program! Still tweaking it as I probably will be for a while yet. :)
My tip for this Tuesday is:
something that w.w. gals will know by heart, JOURNALLING. (sp?)
One of the seven steps offered in "Potatoes not Prozac" is to keep a food journal that includes besides what and when you ate, how you felt physically and emotionally through the day.
That part was a a big eye opener for me. I noticed that I got a huge urge to eat more after a handful of peanuts and I felt much more "balanced" if I chose tricuits and cheese. What ever works for you, I say.
Enjoy your day,
See ya at the weigh in tommorrow,

Hey Everyone - wanted to let you know my Dad is done with the catscan but now we are in limbo until Thursday when the doctor gets the results. I am not good in limbo....
On the bright side, this WOE is amazing. I made peanut butter cookies for my kids and their buddies while they were out digging forts in our mounds of snow (I am SUCH a June Cleaver...not) and I wasn't even tempted to have one. That has NEVER happened. Usually I'll eat one...then another...then another....
Let's hope the scale provides some positive reinforcement for tomoro!
CHERI - Your menu looks awesome to me! I have tried to stay away from the starches at night because I am on a crash program here to get the ball rolling. I know that may not be necessary, but I've been plateauing on other plans for so long, I'm hoping it helps with my jumpstart.
More tomoro, got to dry the drippy snowpants. You just would not believe the snow.
RHOO - Where are ya in Mass? Were you in the same snowpath as us?

Hello Losers!!! (said with love - LOL)
Sunday and yesterday were spring-like days here in NE California, and now there's about 5 inches of snow on the ground. Whooohooo! peace to my soul!!!
Rhoo.... yes, lots of pain. And I'm cranky. But thanks for the compliment!!! My motto is "Fake it till you make it." Sometimes I don't fake it too well, and consequently don't make it.
Christie..... I love the sesame Ezekiel bread, especially toasted. With a bit of apricot Simply Fruit... yummy!!!
Viv..... where in California is your dad?
I'm "grilling" chicken tonight in my George Foreman grill. I don't know how we lived without it. It's the best, and so FAST!! I did fajitas last night, and ate the meat, onions and peppers without the tortilla. Little bit of cheese, little bit of taco sauce. Mmmmm mmmmm good!!
Another good treat I've had for lunch the last couple days.... triscuits with brie melted on them. I thought I'd died and went to food heaven!!!
I'm curious about the Potatoes versus Prozac book..... does it advocate eating potatoes....????
Off to cook some dinner....
Hugs,
Connie

Connie and All...The purpose of eating the potato is to help boost your tryptophan intake, which needs insulin to cross the blood-brain barrier.
"Eating a baked potato before you go to bed raises the insulin level in the blood and moves the tryptophan to your brain. Your serotnin level rises in the middle of the night. This may even help you dream in a healthy way."
"Does it have to be a potato? No, it can be any complex carbohydrate eaten without protein, like an apple, oatmeal (without milk or yogurt), a piece of fruit or even organge juice. But remember the slower the carbohydrate, the more effective the result."
quoted from Potaotes not Prozac by Kathleen DesMaisons
Just the other night I started this pratice with my personal favorite oatmeal as I experience bad nightmares and disturbed sleep. No nightmares but tons of action dreams! I think I'll keep it up for awhile and see if it makes a difference. Wish me luck.

NOT THAT THE SUPER CHICK WORE ME OUT OR ANYTHING....just went strong for the two days that I usually "gear down" on...BUT, I'm feeling a "rev" in my engine http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif
FINALLY...check your private messages...
Got notification today from WW's that they are offering an online "etools" edition. This is evidently is going to be in edition to the once a week program meetings. This will cost $12.95 per month to access on their site. This in edition to the $11.00 I already pay for the meetings every week. It will include online journaling, points calculator, recipes, MENU PLANS, message boards etc...Now I can get last years model of the electronic points calculator for a one time price of $13.95 and write my own journal, plus get my recipes from you guys FOR FREE!!!! This is a no brainer for me...I'll take the second choice.....WHATCHA THINK???
Deb...I know you gave us a deadline for the food list, but I'm still working on mine. I hope things can be added in easily :D
BOY,,,all you people with the snow better keep those fires going..I don't envy you at all...We get cold down here if it gets into the 50's...
Quilter, keep us informed about your trip. Deb and I can probably work out a day trip. How long will you be in Parrish?
Someone else is coming real soon...WHO WAS THAT??? I ask because it's easier to do than go back thru the posts...who ever it was, where are you coming to? and how long are you staying?
Better get reclined...tonight is NYPD...

Evening All :D
Eli had to run to work, an ex-employee came in and stole a CO2 canister that they found her getting high on in the past, so he has to call the Police and be there when they come. So, I have a few minutes to post.
Did anyone hear my daughter screaming her bloody little brains out?? She was on the radio and trying to win NYSNC concert tickets, and the one who screamed the loudest in enthusiasim won - boy she can scream! Needless to say, she won-crying like crazy, it was so cute!
We went to lunch today, but I felt a bit sick even before we got there, those raging hormones again! I ate part of my Cobb Salad and then had to go to the bathroom and make a face at the toilet, stopped at Alberstons and made a face at their toilet as well. Went and got some Carbolite thinking it would go down, nah uh, came home and got rid of the last of it. Now I'm back to normal, though there are those that will debate that I will never be normal http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif If I don't show a loss tomorrow, I WILL be PISSED!!!!!!
MSLIZ, I hope you can find the willpower to start SB. Not even so much for the weight loss, but how much better you'll feel when you aren't consuming all those refined products. You'll be surprised that once you start, you won't be craving that potato-look, if I don't crave chocolate, trust me, in time, you won't crave a potato (at least I'd hope you wouldn't).
JOY, sorry to hear about your wrist, I hope it's not too serious. I must ask, stupid me, what is ganglion?? Do keep us posted. Yummy, triscuits with brie!!!
CHRISTIAN, glad to hear you're doing well. I think we all have to agree on how good the Ezekiel breads are!!
VIV, I'm sure I can say for all of us that we hope everything goes well for your Dad. Congrats on being able to turn your nose up at those cookies. Maybe one day you'll make some SB legal ones that you too can eat, and are healthier for the kids.
RHROO, hope the kiddies didn't drive you batty being home today. Hope you are able to get in your WW meeting tomorrow, good luck!
JANCAN, I always say, journaling is important-just bought two more little books to keep my info in. Please keep us updated on your oatmeal experiment, sounds interesting!
CHERIANN, hope you don't mind, but I am posting your info here for you as well. It always helps when others can see this too. Based on you wanting to be 1600-1800 calories, you can see you are falling very short of this goal. I didn't do the vegetables in the salad, very small amount, but did do the lettuce. Here is what I found
As you can see, you are really too low in calories, no where near what you want and need to consume. Carbs and protein are way too low. The fat grams where right on the money though (based on 1600 calories). Need a little more fiber as well. Hope this info. helps!!
BOB, did we tucker you out?? Whenever you have your menu info, send it along. I think I may post the breakfast ideas first, so if you have any, try to send them along when you can. The WW on line sounds interesting!
Again, TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNEDAY!!!! and I am wishing you all the best of luck on the "metal monster."
Well gals, I'm pooped, going to hit the hay!!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sleep.gif I'll check in with you all sometime in the A.M.
Nite!

ALERT ALERT...I goofed when I put up the weekly excercise board and called it the weight loss board. I have started a new board with the right name :D I left the old one up so people could cut and paste their excercise to the right board. Sorry for the mistake and confusion.
Hi everyone...I'm still a crazy person at work so I will not be on the board much this week. I'll be lurking and saying high everyday :D
Oh and I'm really up today in weight and feel very bloated.

Hi everyone! Hey, I just noticed that my last 2 posts said I'm now a CHICK !!!
Belinda, thanks for that roasted broccoli receipe!! It's FANTASTIC!!! I did some broccoli, cauliflower & butternut squash mix with the olive oil spray & fresh garlic for supper tonight & we loved it. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//love.gif Hope you had a better day today than yesterday.
Cheriann, good idea to get rid of the tempting stuff when possible. I'm sure your son appreciated them :)
Cathy, yes, I'm sure that the snow is beautiful, but it must get old when it's keeping you inside.
Liz, you'll find that you won't really miss those potatoes after you get all that sugar out of your system. You can do it!!! Checked out your web page. Really nice. The after picture sure does make a difference.
Viv, sorry to hear the news about your dad, will sure pray for good news of the scan. Thursday will seem like it takes a long time to get here for you, I'm sure, but think good & positive thoughts till then! 21" of snow!! I can't even fathom what that would be like.
Joy, so sorry to hear that painful lump will require surgery, but it's best to take care of things like that as soon as possible not to run into other problems. We'll keep you in prayer for a good outcome. Now you have snow too? Very little chance of us getting any of that here in the marsh of SW LA.
Rhroo, you snowed too? my goodness! I had a mental picture of you walking in boots..what a work out that would be http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif the link worked for your homepage. yes, a big difference in the before & after. Way to go Girl! Great idea to take a picture in the before jeans. That would really be a dramatic picture!
JanCan, that's a good tip about journaling the physical & emotional feeling & that allows you to see what foods do not work for you. Thanks, I will try to add that to mine too. Very interesting theory on that "potatoe" before bedtime. Will have to give that some thought.
Deb, employee stealing a CO2 canister to get high? OMG! Making faces in the toliet! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif Glad you feel better now.
Well, another long day at work tomorrow, so I'd better get some http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sleep.gif Probably won't see ya'll for a couple of days. Those 12 hr shifts really do me in. Have a great WIW everyone! I'm hoping to be among the losers too ;)

Hello everyone! I had a not too bad day today except with Deb's help realized that I didn't eat enough. I do feel it too, I am a bit hungry but it's a little too late in the day or early in the morning to eat. Anyway, thanks Deb for all of your help.
Joy, I hope the lump is nothing serious. I had one on the top of my wrist. But it was a ganglion. The Doctor didn't want to do surgery because of the ligaments and nerves involved and so she aspirated it with a needle. It started to come back but then went completely away and hasn't been back in over a year. Good luck with everything.
Belinda, I'm excited about trying your broccoli recipie too. It sounds really good.
Viv, I am sorry to hear about your dad.
Thanks again to EVERYONE for all of the motivation.

Hi Everybody!
Well, I’ve been having some computer problems. Got all set to send this last night and before I realized it I was frozen solid. UGH!!! Hope you all are having a great week. Sounds like so many of us are feeling great and doing well.
WIW report. I stayed the same as last week. However, I am very happy about that because that means the five pounds lost from last week’s sicky time has really gone away. I thought I’d pick up at least two of those pounds this week. But that’s not the case. So I’m celebrating today.
CHERIANN---You did the right thing by giving all your non-SB food to your son. We did this a couple of weekends ago. I cleaned out the freezer and the pantry and gave it all to my brother. BTW, you and I are practically neighbors. Indy is only 2 hours from here. My brother lives in Fortville (northeast side). Do you know where that is? Also, I think your daily menu sounded good. Are you getting enough water? How about the fiber?
CATHY H---I’m with you about the snow. You are so far north that you are getting much more than us. But I am so ready to walk outside. Today I dreamed of daffodils peaking up out of the dirt. Tell me it won’t be long.
BELINDA---Thanks for sharing the broccoli dish. It sounds very do-able and good.
DEB---I loved your tip abou rubbing the butter directly onto the bread. So smart!!! We are flying into Tampa on Wed, March 7 and will fly out on Tuesday, March 13. So we’ll be there about a week. We are going to be spending our time with my niece and her finance. (The wedding is in May, so we thought we’d squeeze in a visit to help get rid of any pre-wedding jitters or stress . . . plus this cold weather sucks up here right now.) So anyways, I’m not sure what the plans are for the weekend. But I definitely would want to meet up with you all for a visit, a meal out, maybe some healthy SB shopping. I’ll talk to my niece and get an idea of what she was planning for us. BIG O, LAMAP, and DEB and anybody else in the vicinity . . . what are your schedules like that weekend.
MSLIZ---Oh, girl, I hear you loud and clear. Let me tell you about my friend, Sharon. She’s battled with her weight her whole life and has finally taken off her excess and kept it off for well over a year. She looks great. She’s so thin and fit now. Well, the reason I’m telling you this is because she loves wine. She NEVER limited her consumption of wine. She wouldn’t ever eat dessert or chocolate or anything like that, but she always knew that she would allow herself wine to drink. And she lost and has kept it off. You really can make this WOE work for you. Besides, I started drinking red wines, because they have less sugar in them. And I really like them now. So don’t avoid this WOE just because you like wine. And I have to say that I LOVED potatoes. I really didn’t think I could live without them. But once I stopped eating them, I didn’t even think about them anymore. I don’t even miss them. Truly. That’s no lie!! Give it a try when you are ready. We are not here to pressure you, but support you.
CONNIE---Consider yourself on my prayer list. I sure hope this lump is nothing and that it comes out easily and with no pain. My fingers are crossed for good luck, too.
Tomorrow is going to be an exciting day for me. I don’t know if any of you have heard of Curtis Aikens. He’s a chef, author who has his own show on the Food Network. Anyways, he is coming to town for a dinner tomorrow night which I will be a part of. But I’ve been invited to a special lunchtime get-together at one of our best restaurants where they will be providing some of his wonderful food. He’s a vegetarian and makes the most fabulous things to eat. Then in the afternoon Curtis is dropping by our afterschool program to visit with our kids. Curtis is a huge supporter of literacy. He was an adult before learning to read and knows first hand the importance of that one skill in our lives. His story is amazing and I love being around him. He was here last year for the dinner and I met him then. I’ll be ready to give you all a full report on what he fixes for lunch.
Well, gals have a great day. I’m hoping the scales are kind to everyone.

G'mornin' everyone!
Okay, warning: obnoxious newbie questions coming! I notice that many SB people are also Weight Watchers people (not just here, but other boards as well). Why do those seem to work well together?
Next question...I get the general gist of SB & love the concept, but there isn't much help in the book when it comes to portions sizes, makeup of menus, and food combinations. The sample menus in the book don't seem to take into consideration whether you're 6' tall and want to lose 100 pounds, or 5' tall and want to lose 5. What I mean is, at 5'1" and with hypothyroidism, I'm concerned that my metabolism will get even more screwed up if I don't eat enough, and won't lose an ounce if I eat too much.
Debelli, where did you get all your awesome knowledge about that stuff?! (i.e., your post to Cheriann)
Sorry to be a pest, but how do I know how much to eat to hit my goals? And I know this isn't a WW board, but can somebody explain how it works? I thought they weigh all their food & then go to meetings where they weigh themselves...can you tell I know NOTHING!? http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//dizzy.gif

Good morning!!
Oh what a beautiful scale morning! :D
I've been very conscientious for an entire week about posting my food intake on www.fitday.com (http://www.fitday.com) (love you Overcome!!!) I've been keeping my calorie count at approximately 1800, following the SB plan for food choices, and this week lost THREE pounds. I am soooooo happy! This is the most I've lost in a week since I started SB 5 weeks ago. Grand total is ELEVEN pounds. 90.5 to go  I encourage all of you who are struggling to visit www.fitday.com. (http://www.fitday.com.)
Thank you all for your good wishes about this lump on my wrist. Deb, a ganglion is a type of cyst.... pretty common things.... but my lump is in the wrong place and is hard, not squishy. Mostly it's the pain that bugs me.
Off to find something yummy for breakfast!!!

MsLIZ...STRUCTURE STRUCTURE STRUCTURE !!!
I need to know that I have to weight in front of someone to make me accountable. I have a WW meeting tonight and will weigh in there and then post...The way I feel right now, I will be hesitant to step up on the one eyed monster! I feel as though I'm stuffed full of sodium...My scales at home were up 2lbs...
ANYWAY...I use SB foods and figure them to the WW point system...and right now am thinking about switching over to the WW exchange method...won't change the food any, but I STILL think it's easier than the points!
I also need PORTION CONTROL PORTION CONTROL

Morning Again! :D
Got another 5 mile walk in this week, with a little extra exercise, so I'm feeling pretty darn good today! That and having FINALLY seen a loss on the scale is doing me good-I'm at 138, a 2lb loss from last weeks WIW and 1lb down from my lowest dip on the scale. 9lbs to go til goal!!!! I just hope the trend keeps going down now that I've done a happy dance!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif
BEACHFAN, thanks for doing the newer board, I've locked the old one and put the link to the new one on the board. I hope things settle down at work for you soon, you sound too busy. You know that small gain is temporary, you'll drop back down soon - I know this from experience http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif
MEL, congrats on becoming a full-fledged chick! Try not to work too hard-12 hour shifts, yuck!
CHERI, glad I was able to help you a bit. You can do the same thing I did by logging onto FITDAY.COM and posting your info on there, that's all I did from the info you gave me. I promise, it WILL make a big difference for you.
CATHY, I wouldn't worry about the small gain, it could easily be hormonal-again, I know this from experience! As I suggested to CHERI, go to FITDAY.COM and log your foods into tehe program so you can see how you are doing on your eating. From seeing what you ate yesterday, at a glance, it doesn't look like enough food-it would help if you had the portions provided. I figured you should be getting approx. 1400 calories a day.
QUILTER, glad to see you stayed the same and can claim that sick loss as a true loss this week :D Let us know ASAP what your plans for that weekend will be. If you'd like to do dinner, there is a wonderful restaurant in Marco Island that we go to. It's near Naples, where there are some nice shops to walk around as well as a small outlet strip mall. It's probably in between where you will be and where I am. Plus, if you like the beach, it's very nice there-right on the ocean. If anyone has any other ideas, I'm game-just need to know enough in advance. How did you come about to getting to this lunch with Curtis Aikens? I think I may of seen him once on tv, but not totally positive. Have a wonderful time!!!
MSLIZ, thanks for posting your bio, the first plunge I guess. I think many of us on this board have WW materials, I know I do. For me, the diet doesn't work. I don't use it in combo with SB, but many on this board and other diets do with success. Many do not like to journal foods, or count calories, and doing the points makes it easier for them to keep track of their eating, making sure they are getting enough food to eat. Just like the Richard Simmons Deal-A-Meal, with the cards, or the new window things, this too can help someone keep track of portions without having to count calories. The sample menus in the SB Book are approx 1200 calorie menus, I believe. I suggest you logging onto FITDAY.COM where you can keep track of what you are eating each day, it does help. Figure out how many calories you should be consuming and keep track from that. There is info on the TIPS & TOOLS BOARD on how to figure this all out, but if you are pretty active, which it seems you probably are, you would most likely take in approx. 1200 calories. You don't want to go below that number. To maintain you current weight, being moderately active, x your current weight by 15, if you are very active, x your weight by 18-this is what you eat now to maintain this weight. My knowledge comes from sitting on my butt too many hours a day searching the net for informative information for the board : )
CYN, CONGRATS on that 2LB LOSS!!! I'm sure you WILL stay on track at dinner this weekend, just think about WHY/WHAT you are celebrating! But tell Dan, NO CAKE!
JOY, I'm OVERJOYED! CONGRATS ON YOUR 3LB LOSS!! I'm so happy the FITDAY.COM site is helping you. I second that YAHOO for OVERCOME! Thanks for explaining the cyst to this medical illiterate!
BOB, good luck at the WW meeting tonight, to **** with the scale at home. I say we throw it off Space Mountain if it doesn't start behaving!
Please remember TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY so if you have any good SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share with the board, please, post them tomorrow! I got 5 new used books yesterday, so I'm bound to have some new recipes to post - any requests???
Thanks for all your help on getting the good information we have posted on past boards together for me-it's a great group effort!
I'd like for you to see what we can add to the following BREAKFAST MENU IDEAS list:
BREAKFAST IDEAS
High Fiber Cereals with milk-Uncle Sams, Fiber One
Eggs or Egg Substitute-make a great omelet, hard boiled or scrambled
WW Pancakes or Waffles-BOB'S RED MILL has a great mix.
Cottage Cheese-add a little sweetener and cinammon
Plain Yogurt-can be topped with some fresh/frozen berries
Whole Grain Toast-top with a little butter/SF jelly, if desired
No Sugar Bacon- Gwaltney's is a great brand to try if you can find it!
Hard Cheese-melted on your toast or in your eggs
Fruit-as your meal, or 1/2 hr before, or 2 hours after
Muffins-lots of recipes to make some SB legal muffins out there
Time to hit the shower, I do need one! I'll check in with you all later on.
Have a wonderful day!

Thanks to everyone for your good wishes about my Dad. Keep 'em coming. It's times like this I wish I were religious, people who are seem to get such strength from their faith. Maybe someday it'll hit me....
Anyway - :D Down another pound! A total of 3 pounds in 9 days! Yippee! That's more than I lost on WW in a year! I hope it continues.... :D
Connie - My Dad lives in Santa Rosa? I notice you live in NE Ca, so that's probably a ways away, huh? Santa Rosa is a great place, I love all the wineries, etc....but the prices are ridiculous for real estate! I love that Sesame Ezekiel bread too! Ya know, I used the GF Grill when I briefly did the gross Larry North program and I got so sick of it, I don't know if I could use it again. You're motivating me to try, tho....
Jan- that's interesteing about the potatoes. It gets confusing, tho, all these different diets. Right now I'm sort of combining Sugarbusters with WW and Suzanne Somers....maybe it's just to keep my mind busy! ;)
Big O - LOL, my best friend moved to FLA years ago - she's orig from Rochester and her DH from Boston - what a bunch of cold wimps they are now! Cracks me up! We'll be in FLA 3/23 - 4/1 ( if all is ok with my DAD, of course) - a week at WDW (I cannot wait!) and then to Boca. I think I'll miss you guys this time, every minute is programmed, as I am a major, compulsive Disney planner....however, my ILs are moving down there and we plan future trips - it would be fun to get toghether with the FLA SB-ers!
DEb - OOOOOOOOOHHHHH, Can I go see "NSync with your daughter???? My 6 yo loves them (10 yo too cool for them, likes Alternative rock, yikes...)...but that JC, gosh, he sure is cute and boy,can they move (keeping my mind out of the gutter, of course, ladies). I much prefer them to the Backstreet Boys (coming from a woman who still has her Pink Floyd albums, what's happening to me in middle age???). What's Carbolite? I think I've seen it - that bottled stuff? What's your impression of it? did you get my Fitday links...what bothers me is it takes the fat in the food and incorporates it, so it seems like I'm binging on fat! In your opinion, to lose at this weight, would you say 1200 cals/day is appropriate to shoot for? Miami has come so far these past few years - ever go see the fun and silliness at South Beach?
Melf - Congrats on Chickdom!
Quilter - Well, at least there is a bright side to being sick! Congrat on the 5 lb maintained loss!
Belinda - Yum, we made the roasted broccoli last nite. 10 yo loved it, 6 yo had to dip in soy sauce as usual. God, he is so picky. Have you tried roasting asparagus? Da-lish!
Cheriann - have you checked out Fitday? It lets you set up nutritional goals and then you fill in your foods eaten and see where you're off. It's easy - try it.
Ms. Liz - Welcome. It's getting easier for me, I keep rereading the book to understand the concepts more. I;m a WW Lifer so the WW principles are engrained in my brain.
Cynde - is today your birthday? HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!
Quilter - I love the Food Network! What a great opportunity! Have a great time and for once, indulge, just a bit~!!!!
OK, back to work.. Have a great SB day!

ARGGGHHH!!
My weight is still fluctuating between 218-220! This is getting really frustrating, especially since this whole move thing is about to really start rolling! I know that will be difficult to begin with, as we will be having to eat out alot until they get us into our own apartment.
Here is what I ate yesterday...
Breakfast: bowl of Special K w/ skim milk
small glass of orange juice
Lunch: one slice of Garden Pizza
from Wild Oats
one Lemon Poppyseed muffin also
from Wild Oats
Dinner: one bowl of homemade Chili
Just before bedtime, I drank another small glass of OJ. Not something I usually do.
I did no snacking, as I had gone into Albuquerque to the Endocrinologist, and then ran errands. The endo had good news, though. She said my thyroid numbers had improved since my last scan, and that I would need to check them again in about 6 weeks in Boston, but things look really good, and probably won't be needing medication! I was really sweating that because if they were not better, we were going to have to zap the thyroid with the radioactive iodine, and I wouldn't be able to hold my little Elli, who would be turning 2 on the same day as the treatment. I wouldn't be able to hold, hug, or kiss my baby for a whole week! I'm so glad things turned out the way they did, instead of having to go the radioactive route!
Well, I'm off to find something good for breakfast. Have a great WIW! Hope you are all LOOSERS!

Good morning!
MELF - Thank you, I did have a better day. The person who jumped down my throat on Monday came in and apologized - said THEY were wrong! Emergencies that sprang up on Monday disappeared yesterday (the person who said they were emergencies and that I better get on the ball and fix it, said they were wrong.) I'm still a little nervous about heading in today. Like running into no man's land.
Joy - Dh's cousin had lumps up and down her wrist. Had to get them removed, too. I wonder why they appear on the wrist, of all places? Sometimes I wish I was in med school instead of law school so I could know all about the human body - but I don't think I could take the incisions. A scalpel just gives me the willies.
BIGORANGE - Been meaning to ask you...How do you feel about the Big 12? I'm a pretty big fan myself but I'd hate to step on any toes. :)
Deb - Breakfast ideas: Oatmeal or Breakfast Burritos in Legal tortillas with salsa and cheese and sausage.
Um... that sounds good. Maybe I'll have that for lunch??? http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif
Have a good one!

THAT DOES IT!!!!! I just got on the scales & am 2 pounds heavier after this weekend. Not that it really means a whole lot (scales are the least accurate measure of change) but it was enough to push me off the fence. Welcome aboard the newest SB devotee, ladies! I'm in.

Sorry that I have not had time to post. The next 2 days will be the same. I miss reading and responding to everyone's posts.
The scale only dipped 1/2 which puts me at 170. I have been stuck between 170 and 171 for 3 weeks now. Hopefully next week I will see a jump. I find it interesting that once I started exercising my weight loss slowed. HMM. I'm sure that the entire bottle of wine that I drank at a party (went a slight bender http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif ) Saturday did not help the situation! I've been so stressed out that it was time I cut loose a little :D
Hope you are all having a great day.

Well no contribution for me this week AGAIN!uggggggg but i will prevail! I am up .8 at WW yesterday i did go at a different time than i usually do (big whoop!) I usually go in the a.m just with fruit in my tummy!! LOL I did have a decent week that is in my favor-really trying hard to stay away from the sugar. I am doing great other wise. I really think i am not eating enough also. Sounds like a common thing this week. I have been excersising atleast 5x a week if not 6x sooooo my body is changing (ya know that butt comment! LOL) I guess we have to put it all into perspective! Anyone see that Phil guy on Orprah? how ever you spell that name! LOL He is right -it has finally clicked like that for me this time around with the weight (started july 99) It is all in our heads! (now if i could find the will power pill!) anyway!!! I am up and i am not mad! LOL a miracle! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif

Scales are down 1 lb. I'll take it.
Ate a no-no yesterday - Dinty Moore beef stew - it was still in the cupboard and I needed something quick for lunch. Not good - potatoes and carrots mainly. Started getting shaky and craving a coke after I ate it.
At work, as I walked by the snack machines in the break room for supper, things seemed to be calling my name, but I didn't give in - even while the other girls at my table were eating their popcorn, ice cream bars and candy - at least no one was drinking Coke. :) Our snack machines give you a VERY wide variety of choices. Maybe when they can see a difference in my weight, they will decide to try it. Everyone seems to want to go with a "quick fix" instead of really changing the way they eat. I have seen them do it so many times and not really lose anything except their happy attitudes.
Gotta go run errands before work. Hope everyone has good WIW results.

Hello-
No loss for me :( I should be happy that I stayed the same!! I have a couple questions. How can Special K be legal? I looked at it last night and it has 4 g of sugar per serving?? Also, back to the ice cream...I bought the Edy's no sugar added (butter pecan) 4 grams of sugar per serving. I can't eat it! I'm sure it's the aspartame. I just can't eat anything with aspartame, it tastes horrible to me. My question is, when choosing ice cream (as Deb suggested as per the book--premium such as Breyers) should I buy the regular kind and ignore the amount of sugar per serving? Is that sugar coming from the milk in ice cream? Or should I be looking for a premium brand with no sugar added? I'm still confused..sorry.
Viv...good luck with your dad. Limbo is a very difficult place to be. I know, I've been there quite a lot! You will deal with whatever news you get...sometimes you feel like you won't be able to, but you will b/c you really have no other choice. It's the waiting that is especially hard to deal with. Stay strong and focused on the positive. I will pray for your dad, as well as the rest of your family. :)
Rhroo--I love the snow!! Ours is melting quickly. I do hope it's the last big snowfall. I want to get out of school on a decent date in June. :) I'm in the same boat as you with no loss today. I am so glad to have read about lots of ppl before me who went a few weeks w/o losing and then lost all at once. It gives me hope!!
Joy...good luck with your lump too. Life is good at throwing curve balls!! Keep us informed. I like fitday too. I look at it as an estimate b/c sometimes they don't have EXACTLY what I ate. I does provide a great guideline. I love entering the little bit of exercise I do and seeing the little soccer ball show up on the calendar :)
Have to run...bbl

Hi everyone! Thanks Debbie and Viv for suggesting Fitday.com. I went there and it is a really cool site. It will help a lot.
Kim, I just moved to Indianapolis so I'm not really sure where everything is at, but I live in Castleton on the Northeast side of Indianapolis. I'll have to look on the map and see where your brother lives in Fortville. Maybe sometime in the future we will be able to get together.
Everyone have a great day tomorrow!

Hi,
Dreams are getting good. Two words- Brad Pitt... :o
Started a running program this week to train for the 10 km. Sun Run. Sure makes a difference!
Debelli...So, that was YOUR daughter we heard out here on the West Coast. :) Hope this email finds you with a calm stomach.
Melf... I’ve been journaling my food intake for two years and by adding the physical & emotional I can really pin-point what works and what doesn’t. I’d be interested in what you discover.
Viv... Yes, it can get confusing. Remember it doesn’t have to be a potato. I ate an apple last night. I’m doing this night nibble more for mental health than weight loss. I’m just amazed the two programs are so similair thata I can follow SB for the weight loss, too!
Enjoy,
Jan

good early evening!
Hubby and I are waiting for the shuttle to take off from Port Canaveral -- about 45 miles from us. They seperate over our house -- it is so cool! I have not seen a day time launch -- the night ones are beautiful. It is a beautiful day -- 70. The next 6 days are 70's and low 80's. Sorry ladies with the snow. Been there and did that for 57 years -- in Illinois.
Who is the gal on line who works at a Chrysler plant in Illinois -- is it Belvedier - I know I did not spell that right.
My weigh in was good. I weight 190 - a drop of 1 pound. That makes it 35 pounds since May -- slow loser due to medications. I also do SB and WW -- it really works for me. I do not eat fruit with meals - everything whole grain - pastas whole wheat and watch sugar content as much as possible. I like doing the points because basically you can eat whatever you want -- as long as you do not go over your poins and you can bank them also. Which means save them.
The wedding was lovely - only 20 people -- it was cool for sure - but no one noticed it.
The next one is April 7 and have set another goal for that one -- 185. I had set a goal of 190 for the April wedding and here almost made it for the February wedding. Those of you who do not know what is going on I am sure you are thinking - this woman is nuts -- yeh - close. Insurance purposes -- no she is not pregnant - nurse - in charge of an ER on medical leave.
I was just dying to go and see Debbie and it worked out so well. She is such a wonderful close friend and we bloth were really shocked when we saw one another - at how much we had lost.
I could not believe what she was wearing - capri pants (black of course) a loose flowery blouse - that is a change - a baggy sweater -- of course and my god - I almost messed when I looked at her shoes she actually has toes and toe ring -- so do I but mine were covered up with my gold tennis shoes. I only seen this woman in all black with these god awful black tennis shoes - YUK! She is doing better. You have to remember she is very short -- in fact she walks in a hole - LOL. She is so pretty and really little -- she looked great.
Was happy to meet Eli - very nice man and Sharon.
Narda -- a kindred spirit.
Gator Gal - very nice lady, I am way to outspoken for her - I am sure - and I am crazy -- but that is alright. To each his own.
Have to go they are going to lift off.
One thing is really bothering me. Went through all the posts -- how come people are not putting down their weight -- of all places -- it is like we do not care -- we are here for one another and also - come on people -- write down where you live -- central missouri does not cut it -- that is an example. We like to know where you live .
JanCan -- love Vancouver
The lady whose father is ill -- am praying for him as I lost mine 3 years ago.
As far as religious -- you dont have to be religious to pray -- try it -- just say a made up prayer in your head -- that is o.k. It will make you feel better. You dont have to do the whole kneeling bit -- I am Catholic -- up and down upand down. Kneel - stand up.
So now would really be a good time to start -- you will feel much better.
Got to go -- the shuttle is taking off in 2 minutes.

Evening All! :D
Nothing eventful in my life today to tell about, just ran some errands. Oh, I did stop at Marshall's to kill some time before going to get Michael from school and tried on a few shirts/blouses-was able to get into size 10-didn't buy anything though, they were silk, dry clean only, and me and dry clean, we don't mix!! But it was nice to try on something of that size!
VIV, CONGRATS! 3LBS in 9 days is awesom! You're well on your way to a bikini body! I couldn't access the fitday.com link you gave me, you have to go to the HOME PAGE and click on MAKE MY JOURNAL PUBLIC and then send me the link, that's the only way it can be done. I see you said your best friend is from Rochester, is that NY? My whole family is from there, if so. Love that town in the summer time. I went to Lauren's first concert with her, which was NSYNC, she bought the tickets, which were in the brain dead (worse than nose bleed) section-seats sucked! I hated it, all she did was scream her lungs out, though she was no different than any other girls there. Anyhow, this time will surely be different and I'm really glad for her. I just don't know how I will handle it, with going with her, or buying a ticket and sitting in the nose bleed sections with a book and heavy duty earplugs and let one of her friends accompany her in the good seat. I have til May 12th to decide! Carbolite is a low carb ice cream type of desert, it's wonderful, esp. the vanilla - there is a link to the site on FOOD INFORMATION BOARD. 1200 calories is good. Haven't been to South Beach in many moons!!!
SAS, try not to stress out, it CAN make you gain! I have been fluctuating between 139-140 since January 15th, sometime even up more than 140, not until today did I see it finally go down to 138 - it happens, just be patient and continue following the plan, you will be rewarded in time. It's hard to say in close proximity much about the menu you posted without some amounts, but from the look of it, it doesn't look like you are eating enough. This may also be a reason you are on a plateau-you should probably be taking in about 1800 calories, and I'm sure what you posted couldn't been that. Try posting your info into the fitday.com site and see what you come up with, you may really be surprised. Also, instead of the oj, eat the orange instead, more fiber and less of a sugar rush. At least you had some good news from the endo!
BELINDA, don't know how I forgot OATMEAL on the breakfast ideas, and the burrito sounds good!
MSLIZ, well then, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!
FROG, I was wondering where you were! I was getting ready to e-mail you tonight to see what was going on. Hey, a 1/2lb loss is a loss just the same. Read what I wrote to SAS above, this happens, it will change! You may be building muscle due to the exercising. Entire bottle of wine?? http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//insane.gif
RHROO, if you don't think you are eating enough then you should benefit from using the fitday.com site, just to see if you are/are not eating enough-it seems to be a problem so many have, and so easy to fix! I will definitely remember the ear plugs for next go round for the concert-geez, these kids can scream!!! Don't worry about that measely gain, it's not fat, I'm sure- blame it on hormones!!!
COUNTRY, CONGRATS on your loss! I'll take a pound loss any day as well!
OVERCOME, BEACH is the one who found Special K to be legal-I personally haven't eaten it, so I really can't comment about it-you may want to direct your question directly to her. I don't know why premium ice cream is okay, maybe I can find out for sure, but the less processed the better, maybe, and also, like you said, there is natural sugar in milk, so some of the sugar grams you see if for the natural occuring sugar in the milk. I think the premium IC's may not have as much sugar as we may think-I would tend to say vanilla being the best choice.
CHERI, we all have to thank OVERCOME for letting us know about fitday.com - we are all pushing it now!!!
JAN, when is your run suppose to be??? Okay, for this stupid woman who doesn't know metrics, how far in miles is 10km??
BARBEE, CONGRATS on another pound of fat lost!! I'm sure you will reach you 185 goal for wedding #2 - I hope to be down another 8lbs by then-we'll be so svelte! So, you don't like my black sneakers?? Geez, if you messed in your pants before, what are you going to do when you see me really dressed up in a dress???? Maybe I should get one of those bags the horses have strapped to their butts and hang it on your rear!!!! LOL!!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif It was great to see you too, and again, I really appreciated it that you drove that distance to join us-it really was great. So, how was the shuttle launch????
Well gals, it's time for me to go see what I can scrounge up and call dinner. I'll try to check in with you all later, if not tonight, tomorrow.
PLEASE REMEMBER TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY!!! The link to the recipe board is below, just click on it:
Well its been another wonderful fun filled day! I'm hoping to see the scale move soon in a downward motion.
The weather here is supposed to warm up in the 50's for tomorrow. We might have a heat wave! LOL
Have you ever not been hungry but felt like you needed to eat something? Puzzling isn't it?!
Well off to the sewing room!

hi--
I am in CRISIS mode...I WANT A COOKIE. I am actually posting this to avoid eating a cookie. I made cookies for a get together we are having at school in the morning. I came THIS CLOSE to just popping one in my mouth. I should have made a cake. You can't eat a little part of a cake and still serve it. Live and learn. I had frozen cookie dough in the freezer so they were the easiest.
:( :( :(
I know I am so tempted b/c I am operating in high stress mode about several (stupid) things. Maybe if I just let out a big scream!!!!!
On a brighter note, one of the teachers at school today asked me if I was on a diet and I said "no why" and he said (yes it was a MALE, does this make a difference??) "b/c it looks like you've lost weight" !!! I told him I stopped eating sugar. Isn't that amazing that I received a comment like that on WIW when I didn't lose anything?? :) Okay, I'm feeling a little better about the cookie thing.
I came across one of my tried and true recipes, Artichoke Squares, SB legal! If I have a minute I will post it tomorrow (if not then another day). Also, I have a wonderful recipe for Zucchini Pie, but it uses a pie crust. One of these days I'll try it w/o a crust and let you know. I make it constantly in the summer b/c DH has a HUGE garden and we become over run with zucchini.
K, going to go pack up the cookies for tomorrow and then curl up in bed with a book!!
Thanks for listening to me vent. It really has helped.

Hi Everyone
WIW was not kind to me. I am up 5 pounds from my low of 136...I am 141. So I am 1pound over goal. Like Debbie I never wanted to see the 140s again but here they are.
Several people have asked where the info about the percentages of carbs, protein and fat come from and how can Special K be leagal. Below is an interview with Dr. Balart that is on the www.sugarbusters.com (http://www.sugarbusters.com) web site. It explains the concept here. Remember 2 things...
1. SB is about the Glycemic Index of food...not sugar grams. Some sugars are ok...apparently much different that others.
2. Very few foods are illegal on SB...you modify your diet to meet your bodies response to foods. For instance I can eat a green banana but not a ripe one...green have much lower Gi than ripe.
Enjoy reading the interview below (I did edit it some because it would not post...I just shortened it where the relevant info was not located. I will archive it to the reading board.
Mendosa Interview with Dr. Balart
Interview with Luis A. Balart, M.D.
This interview with Luis A. Balart, M.D., one of the authors of Sugar Busters!, was conducted by telephone on May 25, 1998, with Rick Mendosa, a freelance writer specializing in diabetes who was writing an article about Sugar Busters! for Diabetes Interview magazine. That article was published in the September 1998 issue.
RM: Is there anything you wanted to say specifically before I ask my questions?
LB: No. The only thing is that when we wrote this book we wrote it as a way to get people to lose weight and feel better. We were very happy when we began getting feedback from diabetics. We had not really realized the full implications of this way of eating for diabetics until we started hearing from people that were able to get off of oral hypoglycemic agents, or lower their insulin doses, or in some cases get off insulin. We were very happy to see this happening. Professionally it has been a very gratifying thing to see people do well.
RM: On the Sweetalk list people use the term legal so often. You use it once or twice in the book. It is a little off-putting to me.
LB: It is. We didn’t want that to mushroom too much. You are right. There aren’t any things that are really theoretically bad for you. It is just the way that people eat them primarily. We don’t want to promote that business of "legal" or "illegal." The best way to say it is, is this part of the way of eating or not?
RM: Someone wrote to me that after she finished reading the book she was totally confused about how much the different food types -- protein, fat, carbohydrates -- you recommend per meal. I wrote her back that I doubt if anybody was going to give you a recommendation per meal, but maybe they would give a general recommendation.
LB: You are absolutely right. The general recommendation, say for a 24 hour period or a day, is that we should follow the general accepted guidelines, which basically break down to somewhere around 40 of carbohydrates, 40 of protein, and maybe 30 or less of fat. You can do that and still get a good balanced meal. If you look at this way of eating, the natural inclination will probably be to eat a little more protein. So you might be eating a tiny bit more protein than normal. We think that would still be within a good balance. This is not like an Atkins, say, a very severe carbohydrate-restricted diet. And the other important message that we try to bring to people is that we are not saying no carbohydrates. We are saying choose the correct carbohydrates and you are still going to be eating a good solid number of carbohydrates in a 24-hour period. But they are just going to be the ones that are better for you. And so we are sticking with the traditional 40-40-30 or 40-40-25. You are going to have to be somewhere around there, because that is a good balance.
:)RM: Let me ask you about cereals. Why isn’t Special K recommended or suggested in the 14-day meal plan along with oatmeal?
LB: When we made the meal plan up, we had so many choices. But we definitely should have put it in there. It is one of my favorites. It has a very low glycemic index to it. I believe that Special K is probably in the 40s. I wanted it in there, but I lost out to my colleagues, who like some of the other ones. I am sorry that that happened, but we couldn’t include everything. It is a very good one -- even though, as you will read on the label -- it has a little sugar.
RM: That was my reaction [to that person’s question]. I said that you doctors were considering both the glycemic index and their sugar contents.
LB: Right.
RM: For example, they don’t like regular All-Bran, because it has sugar, even though it has a low GI. Getting off sugar is the key. Do I have that correctly?
LB: Right. That is a key part of it, exactly. That has so many good effects on your taste buds and other things. You can undo the whole thing if you have a great cereal with a lot of fiber and you put a lot of sugar on it. It wouldn’t work.

I'm a bit under the weather and having a major pity party for myself....I have a sinus infection and I was rear-ended at a red light yesterday.
I just got my car back two weeks ago from an accident that happened in September. A semi hit my car (it was parked); and I was finally able to afford to get it fixed. The case is still in litigation. The semi driver hit six parked cars that day.
Anyway, I haven't felt much like posting. I'm sure that you will understand. I have been exercising on a regular basis and drinking more water and watching what I eat. I feel much better now that I'm back on SB.
Thanx, Debelli, I'll start my search for an acceptable sourdough bread.
The weather here has been strange this week. Just two days ago it was in the 60's. Tomorrow we will get some snow. Strange.......
Thanx for your support Debelli, it's much appreciated.

Good morning!
I haven't made it to the grocery store yet this week (I usually go on Saturdays) which is probably a good thing. I'm making a list of low GI things to stock up on. Any suggestions? I do have Triscuits on hand. :)
I also ordered some WW materials, because I think the structure will help me. I'll jsut concentrate on low GI foods. BTW, I absolutely LOVE the fitday site! It's already helped! I think in my case the Base Metabolic Rate numbers are off by about 300-400 calories, but it's still very helpful (the low BMR is due to the hypothyroidism).
I appreciate the support and encouragement. I have a goal of 110 by the last week in March, at which time I hope we are headed for the Bahamas! :D

Good morning!!! Gosh, didn't have a chance to get on last night and there are tons of chatty, friendly, loving, warm, informative posts!!!
I'm going to be out of town this weekend. My husband's 50th birthday is Saturday and we're going to our best friends' home and having a bash. We're doing a 60's theme party, complete with "costumes" and food..... I hope to be able stay on plan. In fact, I PLAN to stay on PLAN!!!! Except for the bottle or two or three (HAHAHAHA) of wine I plan to drink.
When I started this plan, I truly didn't think of all the events this year..... my husband's 50th, our first grandchild due soon, son's graduation from high school, parent's 50th wedding anniversary...... hopefully at each event I'll be a bit smaller!!!!
Well off to figure out what to take for lunch.
Keep up the good work (all the losing and posting)

Good Thursday Morning Everyone! :D
Beautiful day here in Miami, sunny and the high of 82 is expected. I already got my 5 miles in this morning, giving me 20 miles so far this week, and I'm feeling really good-this week, I don't know what it is, but I just feel healthy!
Today is RECIPE THURSDAY and I've posted 2 recipes on the board-there are some yummy recipes posted for this month, so make sure you check this board out.
CATHY, I do get like that, not hungry, but knowing I have to eat something, and I just have to push myself. Some days is harder than others. That's one good thing about eating small meals throughout the day, I can always get in little bits of food through the day. Then again, there are a couple times a month that I want to eat everything and nothing satisifys me at all-yep, it is puzzling.
OVERCOME, I hope you OVERCAME your cookie crisis! Cool about the the guy who gave you a compliment - take those compliments and enjoy them, there are more to come! The zuchinni recipe sounds yummy, I'm sure you can make it without a crust if you just spray the pan. Hope you will share it with us when you get a chance.
BEACH, you KNOW that's just a temp. gain. I am sure I will see th 140 mark a couple more times before I get low enough that it will be a memory. I know I can easily gain 4-5lbs during those TOM, and until I get to 134, I know seeing 140 will be a possibility. I'm hoping by the EOM to have 140 be a distant memory. Thanks for posting part of the interview-we'll put that info into the archive boards!
KAPOLA, CONGRATS on the 3 1/4lb loss! Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well, and about the rear-ender. I know how you feel, 3 weeks after I bought my new van a kid rear-ended me but good, causing quite a bit of damage. Glad to hear you're doing much better being back on SB - keep up the great work!
MSLIZ, we are working on a list of food items to buy that we all recommend, but it's still in the working stages. I would suggest that you get the SB SHOPPERS GUIDE. When I started SB I bought this little book and took it with me to the grocery store, it was helpful. Do you have a HFS near you??? You could probably find the EZEKIEL bread if you do-a fav. among many of the board members. Glad you like the FITDAY.COM site, we all have OVERCOME to thank for telling us about it.
JOY, sounds like you are going to have a wonderfully fun weekend! I'm sure you will stay on plan-just plan ahead!!! What great events to look forward to - each one you WILL be smaller!!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend - take pictures so you can post one on the board!! HINT, HINT!!
Well gals, I'm off this board for a few hours-going to my mothers, she does electrolysis and I have a few hairs that need a pluckin, so she's going to do that for me this morning.
I'll check in with you all later!
Have a wonderful day!!!!! :D

Hi All - It's snowing again. Can you believe this? My kids spent another coupla hours yesterday afternoon refining their snow forts, amazingly sophisicated, etc. I just wonder when this stuff will turn to ice, we're supposed to get rain over the weekend, that's going to stink!
Thank you for all the good thoughts about my Dad. Keep 'em coming, please. We are supposed to get the results of the catscan today and I am really frightened. What makes the whole thing worse is the 3000 mile separation - and having no siblings. He and his wife (25 years younger) are on the "outs" (ridiculous), so he tries to lean on me from 3000 miles away. Not a happy time. I'll keep you posted....and thanks again.
I'm going to try to post a couple of recipes today...if I can sneak the time in. Took a great walk with a GF at our rec area last nite while little DS was at hockey practice - the sky was beautiful, stars were out. Speaking of GF's, my 3 closest ones are all going to warm places during February break the week after next, I guess it's stressing me out that they'll be away,....if I need them. There are others, but these 3 are the best, and their kids are similar in age and craziness to mine, which helps!
Sara - I was looking at your Wild Oats menu. The pizza and the muffin - were they WW - was the muffin sugar free? I want to know because a) that might affect your loss, of course, and b)I['m headed for WO tomoro and want to know if I can eat them! So let me know! Did you find a place in Boston?
Ms. Liz - welcome. I'm two weeks new (not even) and I love the program. I hope you do too.
Frog - I hope, at least, the bottle of wine was an expensive merlot! ;)
Country - those snack machines would be really tough for me to handle at work. Stay strong and you'll win - maybe the snack company can put some nice WW pretzels in one of the slots!
Overcome - let me know when you find a perfect brand of ice cream. I haven't even ventured into that aisle, but it would be good to know for the (near?) future. Thank you for the kind words - I';m still in limbo and I feel it's worse than not knowing. And I'mglad you overcame your cookie urge....I know what that feels like!
Cheri - glad you like Fitday - what a great discovery!
Jan - can I share some of those Brad Pitt dreams please? It's amazing to me how many programs are similar to this - then there must be something to it - so why don't they get more positive publicity?
Barbee - How cool to have watched the shuttle. They said it would be visible all the way to NYC - we're about 90 miles from NYC, so no view here. Thanks for the praying encouragement - I wish something would just find ME. You do sound outspoken and fun - I like that, so keep it coming - you must have roots in New York! :)
Connie - what fun for DH's birthday. I'm sure if you plan right you will enjoy great food without sacrificing your WOE!
Beach - sorry about the +5 - what do you think contributed to it? Thanks for the information on SB - I think they key,in explaining it to other people, is the sugar vs. glycemic index theory - so far, people I tell about it just don't get it, and I think it's because I'm not explaining it correctly. Ah ha - I can eat green bananas?????
Deb - aha, that's why Fitday didn't send to you. I'll get that fixed and resend it for your review. I appreciate it. I think I'mdoing better. My GF's relatives from Rochester - she grew up in Pittsfield or Pittsford, I forget which is the right name. Near yours? Even her parents are down in FL now, she's in Boca and they;'re in Jupiter or...no, Stuart. LOL my first concert was David Cassidy at Madison Square Garden, major nosebleed seats (the BLUE seats for anyone who knows MSG), I can still hear the screaming (mine and others) to this day  What a scene! But still, that JC..... ;) So, do you live in actual downtown Miami? If so, where do you walk? I once had a friend that lived in Miami Lakes - that was beautiful - we went skinnydipping in the canals (pre-kids, of course, bikini body at 113 lbs)....gosh, I wonder if there were alligators? :D
I'll try to get some recipes up today. Anything to keep busy...
The numbers: is it beginning weight/current weight/target weight?
So that would be 125/125/105?

:) :) :D
Just a quick note....
It's not the "C" word for my Dad...couple of other conditions, like hiatal hernia (we knew that), some scarring. Will require treatment, but minor compared to what we were all fearing.
THANK YOU for your kind words and thoughts. All my buddies on this and the other boards, and my friends here in Snowbury and other places were really there for me. I do so appreciate it. :)

Just checking in to say hi. Have been very busy and no news to post.
Big Orange, I found the Wileys. Made beans last night. Yum. Thanks for the info on it.
Who was asking about the Big 12. Nope. We are died in the wool SEC fans! I was rooting for OK. though because Stoops used to coach at Fla. Glad they won.

Boy, do I love the digital scales at work. My scales (not digital) showed a 1 lb loss yesterday morning, but last night at work, 2 1/2 lbs! Lost 1 1/2 pounds in less than 24 hours? Weighed this a.m. on mine and showed another 2 lb loss besides the 1 yesterday - 3 total on my scales and 2 1/2 on the scales at work last night. Must be all the bathroom trips I made at work last night. Going more now than when I lived on pop (soda) http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif
Viv - I'm so happy for you. You've been in my prayers.
Kapola - I hope you aren't hurt. I have been hit that way twice - once really hard and the second not so bad, but it really irritated the injuries I got the first time. Dr. said to not get hit again - yeah, like I'm going to run around with a flashing sign on the back of my car saying "Stop, stupid!"
Barbee - I'm the Chrysler gal, but I don't work at Chrysler. I work for Methode Electronics in Carthage, IL. We make automotive electrical components such as ingnition switches, wiper and headlight stalks (the controls that stick out on the sides of the steering column)for Chrysler and Ford. The line I work on makes wiper and headlight stalks parts for the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The part that I actually make is called a clockspring. It sits inside your steering column, just behind the airbag. It is the electrical connection for the wiper, headlight and airbag. With the car business being slow, there is a ripple affect - Chrysler isn't making a many cars, so they don't need as many parts to put in them. So far I am spared. I think I will be OK. Tuesday, hourly people with less that 1 year were laid off (under 90 days, terminated), and last night
4 salaried workers were terminated. There were 2 people with 25 years in on first shift who were terminated. Non-essential personnel, so they say. Not a good situation. Will just have to deal with whatever happens.
Debeli - Is the zuchinni loaf cake that you made on the recipe board someplace? If not, could you post it, please.

Just wanted to check in and say hello, haven't had much time to read the board. Posted another meringue recipe today, which actually came out well. this mad scientist has been experimenting in her laboratory trying to find a way to bake with whole wheat flour so it's not so **** crumbly. Well, the powdered egg whites work fantastic for meringues.
Best sf icecream i've found is the Weylers Double fudge chocolate. Excellent! the other flavors suck.

Hello everyone. I would like to join your board. This is my third SB try and I've posted here before. I know it is the best way of eating. I am starting again today and have made a strong commitment to this way of eating this time.
Just a little about myself. I live in Seguin, TX near San Antonio. I am 41 years old and have 100 pounds to lose. I will post more info on the bio board later.
I look forward to being a part of this marvelous group and getting to know everyone.

Hi everyone! I've been lurking for months trying to make up my mind about this WOE. I had originally thought of doing North's Great America Slimdown, but that is too restrictive. I know I eat way too much sugar, and years ago when I was undergoing infertility tests, PCOS was mentioned (that would explain some other problems I have). The final decision was made when a friend lost 10 and her husband lost 20 without even following the plan religiously.
So far, I haven't found this plan too bad. I've surprised myself at being able to stick to it for this long, as that's not usually what happens. Reading your posts has given me lots of inspiration and encouragement, even though they weren't specifically written to me. I don't know how much I will post, but I certainly will be reading all of yours! Keep up the great discussions--I feel like I have a whole new circle of friends!

Hi everyone.I've been running in circles (not exercise)this week & wasn't able to post. I lost 1.5 lbs somehow. We had 14 inches of snow on Monday, lost electricity monday am through Tuesday at 5:00 pm and it was coooooold. We just sat around the fireplace and wished we were back in FL. For those folks using WW / SB for the structure, how do you do it. I tried to get the WW at home program or the e-tools they have on line which provides MENUs for a structure but my area in PA or NJ does not have it so I cannot get either. What a disappointment.I will have to sit down and use the shopping list to make menus for my family that are in line with SB. Sounds like everyone had a blast last weekend, wish I still lived in Florida. We moved here in 1997 from Coconut Grove, FL. Will this site have a menu topic?
Everyone seemed to lose well this week,I think I lost my weight just WORRYING about what to eat. 200/198.5/1125 (Eastern PA) :)

Hi Gals!
I don't have much time . . . we're off to our dinner with Curtis Aikens. I have to report I've had a fabulous day!!! We had the small intimate lunch with Curtis (for those of you who missed my previous posts, he's a world famous chef who has his own cooking show on the food network plus a huge literacy advocate and ambassador!). Lunch was fabulous. He did a demo with some wonderful ingredients, ginger, bockchoy, scallions, garlic and sesame oil. Yummy. But the lunch was all preapred by the restaurant and it was recipes taken from his latest cookbook. The salad was a bed of wild greens with steamed kale and other groovy things on top. Curtis is a vegetarian so there was no meat, but everything else was wonderful. A vegetable pasta dish with his premier marinara. Yes, there was dessert. I guess I should confess now . . . bananaa bread pudding. Let's just say I took Viv's advice and splurged, but didn't eat all the dessert. It was really wonderful. Can you tell I had a good time? Tonight's dinner will be nothing as extravagant, but still good. We'll be honoring adult learners who are working on their reading skills. Plans show there will be over 350 people at it and by the end of the evening there won't be a dry eye in the place. After lunch Curtis came to our after school program and visited with our kids. They LOVED him. He really praised them for all the extra hard work they are doing to become strong readers.
Gotta go, friends. Just had to report. I'll respond more later. To all the lurkers . . . come on board. We're a great bunch of people. Take care everyone. I may not get back to you all until tomorrow.
Talk to you later

Hello everyone!
I have to say that it seemed easier today. Fitday.com also helped me to plan my eating better and to be able to see how I did with the Sugar Buster's way of eating. My mind does keep wondering occasionally to chocolate :D I keep pushing it away.
Connie, did you say that your grandchild is due February 14? My granddaughter is due February 20. Congratulations. Hope that all goes well.
Viv, glad to hear that the news regarding your dad was not as bad as you feared.
Everyone, thank you again for posting such wonderful recipies. I plan on trying each and everyone of them. Someday soon I hope to be able to give back by posting some of my own.
Thanks again,

Evening All!
Have an hour before SURVIVOR comes on and decided I better get in a post before it gets too late.
Took Michael shopping as he needed a suit for next week and something to wear to a Bar Mitzvah he is attending this week, as well as one on March 3rd - lets just say I was lucky I wasn't packing a pistol with me! UGH http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//nervous.gif We did finally get everything in one place, a linen sports jacket, a black pair of pants, white shirt and shoes-I'm broker than broke! Thank goodness Lauren's dress she wore for Michael's B/M still fits to where she can where it, and my dress didn't cost much either.
VIV, your girlfriend is definitely a Rochesterian. If you have any free time while you are down here, you can call me, I'm only a little over an hour away from the Boca area. Nope, I don't live in downtown, only bums live there http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif I live about 45 minutes from downtown-in the western part of the county. I walk down a really busy street for over a 1/3 of my walk-my lungs must love me when I inhale all the fumes. Miami Lakes is about a 1/2 hour from me to the North. Very happy to hear that your father doesn't have the big "C" and I'm sure you're more than relieved!
MSLIZ, you are correct-that's your starting weight/current weight/ and goal weight :D
COUNTRY, you had me laughing, I was reading the info on your scales and I almost couldn't follow!!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif Congrats on all the losses!! The zuchinni loaf cake is on the AUGUST RECIPE BOARD, just click on the link and it will take you there:
The next time I make them I'm going to make them muffins! YUMMY!! Just have to adjust the time they bake. If you make it, please, let me know how you like it.
ELLIE, thanks for telling us that the powdered egg whites works for meringues - I have some and have been dying to make some meringues but hate wasting the yolks. I think there is a boo-boo in ther meringue recipe on the Splenda though, so you may want to check it-the amount isn't correct.
JOYCE, glad to have you back on the board. Hope third time is a charm :)
KAREN, welcome to the board, glad you joined us. How long have you been following SB?? Please try to get on the board as much as possible, even if it's a quick hello - it really does make a difference, even just a small post would be great from time to time. Please let us know if we can help you out in any way!
FINALLY, Congrats on your loss - however it came, take it and run! We are working on a list of recommended foods to eat, like things for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's just taking a bit of time, so please be patient with me.
QUILTER, sound like you had a wonderful day and are going to have a fabulous night - can't wait to hear what you had for din-din.
CHERI, glad to hear today was easier for you, and it gets easier every day. Glad to hear the fitday site is coming in handy as well. Honestly, I was a chocoholic, and if I can stay away from chocolate, anyone can. Though on SB you are allowed to eat chocolate with a high cocoa content, but in Michael Montignacs book, he doesn't suggest doing so until you are on maintence - want to get that sugar out of your body and keep it out so you can get use to not having any.
Anyone hear from GLORY? I tried e-mailing her and they come back!! :(
Gotta run, will try to check in later, otherwise tomorrow. Remember, TOMORROW IS FRIDAY FITNESS FACTS so if you have anything you'd like to share with the board in relation to this subject, please, feel free to post it tomorrow!
Later!

Just read this interesting piece in the latest Consumer Reports - they tested Splenda in their kitchens. According to them, Splenda tasted very much like sugar when used to sweeten iced tea. However, they made the recipes on the back of the Splenda box and basically said to save your time. The cake had a bouncy, chewy texture with little chocolate taste and a bitter aftertaste. The sugar cookies they made were not good either.
I had been wondering about baking with it. Think I will wait until I hear from someone about a recipe that actually turns out good.
Debelli, thanks for the welcome. You always have such nice things to say to everyone. I'll try to post often.
For the weather watch, we had freezing rain last night and a lot of school closures today. This afternoon we had quite a bit of fog and at suppertime we had thunder and lightning. The rain is supposed to change to freezing rain tomorrow morning and then to snow - maybe up to 5 inches. Our favorite saying around here is "It's Wisconsin, wait five minutes and the weather will change." Hope everyone has successfully coped with their weather problems this week!

Feels like forever since I sat down to click out a real conversation! Hope everyone is doing ok...
VIV...I'm soooooooo glad the report came back
C-free...I had all fingers and toes crossed for you!
BIG 12 conference???? IF IT AIN'T SEC, IT AIN'T ON MY TV!!!! There are so many teams in our conference that by the time we get through watching them, there isn't any time left for any other teams..Like GATOR, I did watch the OK games when I could...I've always liked them, and they deserved to win the BIG POTATOE this year...Feel free to join in our "PIGSKIN FOLLIES" when the fall rolls around...BE WARNED...we can get kinda brutal at times....we take our football REAL SERIOUS in the SOUTH.... :D
KAPOLA..sorry about your car, but congrat on the loss...I was up .2 this week...not bad, but not good! I knew it would be up a little. Even though I didn't really cheat on our little excursion, it was still all "eating out" food, and it's always got more in it than you think it does..I've climbed back up and got my motor reving...gonna do better this week...I've already promised myself..
MsLiz, Deb turned me on to some really good
"triscuit look a likes" at the Whole Foods store..They are really good when you "doctor" them up with little morsels...
JOY..what a good time you're gonna have...I love a good theme party..Let us know how it goes.
GATOR...glad you found the Wileys...try it with greens. I use the bean and pea for that too...
ELLIE...WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?? We've missed you. Check in every once in a while..
JOYCE AND KAREN...HERE'S A BIG OLE SOUTHERN WELCOME FOR YOU :D Hope you hang around. We're a pretty swell group of people, and we grow on you once you get to know us!!
DEB..I just heard this saying and thought of you..."I REFUSE TO THINK OF THEM AS CHIN HAIRS...I THINK OF THEM AS STRAY EYEBROWS!!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif
You all have to make Debs zuchinni bread..IT FABULOUS to say the least...I just finished my last little loaf yesterday...YUMMMMMMMMM
Better get off of here...I'm not succeeding in watching SURVIVOR and key clicking at the same time....
Its very windy here but the temps are supposed to get up in the low 60's and then plummet... Boy am I "Happy" it Friday. I need a rest!
I'm going to try that zucchini bread recipe. I just happen to have zucchini in my freezer. I can't wait.
The scales are not showing a big decrease but at any rate I will take it. I think my clothes feel different. So that must mean something.
Keep those breakfast and lunch ideas coming. You gals are alot of help! I hope you all have a great friday and a fantastic weekend!
I'll check in later!

Good Friday Morning Everyone :D
WOW! The board was pretty quite last night-everyone go to sleep early like me? http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sleep.gif
Nothing exciting planned on my end today-guess I should try and clean my house a bit, huh??
I am up again today - not worried, know it comes with the territory and I know it will go back down - RIGHT BEACH?!?!?
Today is FRIDAY FITNESS FACTS and here's a small contribution:
Does working out in the morning keep your metabolism up all day?
Answer: Exercise can increase one's metabolism even after exercise, due to the lingering effects of hormones, such as adrenaline released during exercise and due to an increase in circulation in attempt to dissipate the heat created from exercise. But the duration and magnitude of the increased metabolism post-exercise may not always be significant enough to burn a whole lot of calories. You can expend as little as an extra 40 calories to as much as an extra 400 calories or more. The harder and longer your workout was, the greater effect it will have on your metabolism. But, another real benefit to exercising in the morning is the release of endorphins, our natural painkillers, which gets you in a wonderful mood to start the day with. Plus, you can feel a sense of accomplishment and relief that you got that workout in. Think of all the times you intended to work out in the afternoon or evening, only to have interruptions throughout the day to throw off your routine or by the end of the day your too tired to want to work out.
KAREN, I haven't used Splenda in baking, but did use it to make a SB legal PB PIE (recipe on the board), and after eating the whole pie in 2 days, I had a nice weight gain! It tasted good, but consuming too much isn't good, at least not for me. In small amounts I guess it's okay, but everyone has to remember, it does have MALTODEXTRIN in it, and I think something else as well. I personally use AGAVE NECTAR for baking and it works wonderfully. I haven't subed if for sugar, but the recipes I use all call for honey and I sub it for that. Let me know what kind of recipe you are searching to make SB legal - I have a slew of books at my fingertips! Hope your weather is better today - I'd send you some of mine if I could - in the 80's!
BIGORANGE, trust me, I use to have what I thought was almost a beard years ago! I thank goodness my Mom does electrolysis. When I was so overweight, the hormones were so out of wack, and I had hair growing big time all under my neck-another good thing about getting thin, now I only have what most other women have. Did you taste the agave nectar yet??? Just curious to know what you thought of it.
CATHY, please let me know what you think about the zuchinni loaf cake if you make it - are you using agave nectar for the sweetener?? Try not to worry about what the scale says, as long as your body says it's feeling fine, the scale will show the difference soon.
Time to get my walking in this morning - will check in with you all sometime later today!
Have a great day and a fabulous weekend!!!!

Mornin' to you all!
I had a lousy day yesterday, foodwise. It was going great until late evening, then it was as if I was taken over by little demons. Ended up gnawing on pepperoni pieces... :( Oh, well. Today's another day.
VIV - I'm so glad that the news on your dad wasn't what you were fearing. My mother lives in Idaho (I'm in Ohio) and distance does make things difficult.
KAPDA - hope you're feeling okay after your day from h***. Don't you feel like you ARE wearing a sign? One that says "run into me?" :p I just bought a new car, and I commute through Cleveland rush hour traffic every day - talk about paranoid!!! so far, so good - not even a scratch from the parking garage! [fingers crossed]
CMD - your first grandbaby?!? Isn't that special? My first is 2 now; I'm up to 3 grandbabies, and they just keep getting more fun. Enjoy!! Let us know how DH's 50th went!
And CHERIANN - new babe for you, too? How wonderful!
FINALLY - I can't get WW etools, either. I did sign up for the "AT Home" plan & am waiting for my materials to be sent - they should get here Monday. Haven't I seen you in the WW chat? :) We'll have to figure it out as we go...
QUILTER - how was the dinner!!! C'mon, gal - out with the details! We're all waiting!
ELLIE - so you're our resident experimental chef, eh? I'm lucky if I can boil water without a recipe...thank you for your talents! You go where I fear to tread...
And JOYCE & KAREN - Welcome! I'm new here myself. I lurked off & on for a couple months, finally came "out of the closet" a couple weeks ago. This is a great bunch of ladies.
For all you Floridians, I hope you're not too angry with us Cleveland Browns folks for stealing your coach... ;) We need all the help we can get!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good Morning!
ORANGE & GATOR - Football big in the SOUTH?? Try TEXAS. Yes, I am a Big 12 South, TEXAS AGGIE. No jokes, please. :)
I've got a busy week until after next Saturday. If I can stay 1/2way legal, that would be a victory. I will still try to post because ya'll are such a support. I can't wait for our menu / food board to get new ideas.
Gotta run! Have a great Friday.

Here is Frog with a shorter version of the Fitness Friday report for those of you who enjoy walking/running as a form of exercise.
3 NEW GADGETS FOR EXERCISERS
(from the March 2001 Runner’s World)
1. The Sport Brain, $99.99, www.sportbrain.com (http://www.sportbrain.com)
This is a high-tech pedometer that displays data from your daily walk/run on a personalized web site. It’s a little plastic “brain” that clips to your waistband. A sensor record your stride and walk/run time. If you also wear a heart rate monitor chest strap, it’ll record your heart data too.
After you exercise you snap the brain into a “Sport Port” that uploads your data to the web via your modem. Data saved there includes: calories burned, heart rate, distance, pace, time, and number of steps. Price includes the brain, port and web site access. Heart monitor chest strap is an extra $49.99.
2. StrideLite High Visibility Belt, $24.99, www.nitebrite.com (http://www.nitebrite.com)
This is great if you exercise before sunup and after sundown. You can now be more visible from all sides when exercising in the dark. The best has a strip of 3M Scotchlite reflective material that glows like a torch in a car’s headlights. Second, the belt includes a strip of electroluminescent material that flashes brightly on its own, powered by 2 AA batteries. You can also get an electroluminescent collar for your dog ($19.95).
3. StretchRite, $24.95, www.stretchrite.com (http://www.stretchrite.com)
Takes stretching to a new level by providing a band with specially-shaped handgrips to make it more comfortable to stretch. As you ease into a stretch, StretchRite makes it simple to increase tension in equal stages by moving your hands up to the next position. Another benefit, the soft, wide band doesn’t cut into your feet.
Hope one of these will make your workout more enjoyable. And that's your Fitness Friday report for Friday, February 9, 2001. Good Day!

Just a quick note before I begin a frenzied day of housework and errands!
I got on the digital scales at work Tues and again on Thurs and they showed a 5 pound loss between the 2 days. So I weighed again at home today I am down from 170 on Wed to 168.5 today. YIPPPPPEEEEE! :D Thank heavens!
I have some recipes that I need to post. WIll try to do that this weekend.
One note - VIV glad to hear nothing serious with your Dad. I don't live 3K miles from my family, just 500, and that is too many.
:(
Take Care all!
Peace,
Frog

Happy Friday Everyone :D
Deb, you think you are  I am up to 143
:( could not believe the scales this morning! I KNOW it is water weight but that doesn't help. Yes, we will drop down but now I know that I want to weigh below 135 so when I fluctuate this badly, I will still be under the 140s.
Had my GYN checkup today...everything is ok. I do have to go and have the blood glucose tolerance test again...yuck. It makes me so so sick. Also, have to go get my boobs smashed but that is ok...
The sample meals look good.
Glad everyone is doing well on SB.

BEACHFAN - I know it doesn't help to know it's just water weight, but it really is! And look at it this way - at least you have boobs to smash! Those of us who are "booblically challenged" would love to have something large enough to squish! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif You know that's always the first thing to go when the weight starts coming off!

Quick response to VIV concerning WO...
The pizza was delicious. Crust was WW and serum demolina flour, so I think that was legal, and if not, it was pretty close. It was kinda spiced up as well...YUM about sums it up. The muffin, I'm not so sure about...it had cane juice in it for a sweetener, so I just don't know. I didn't have any cravings at all after, though. That night I went to my Bible study and they had a simply scrumptious looking Swedish cake, and I wasn't even remotely tempted.
My husband got back from Boston yesterday, and leaves tomorrow to go back. We know NOTHING about where we will be living, as the relocation people still have their heads up their butts. He is taking me out today for our Valentine's Day Date. WE are going to dinner and a movie.
I'll hop on and let you gals know what is happening on our relo when I know more. Thanks for all your support!

Good morning. Got a question - is Puffed Wheat by Malt-O-Meal legal? The only ingredient is wheat with 11g carbs for 1 cup, 1g fiber and 0 sugar. I know we should watch for foods with less than 3g sugar, but what should the gram limit be for carbs?
Another lb off the scales at work last night. That makes 4 but I forgot my water bottle so I probably put it back on.
Gotta run.

My Mom just sent me this email that I had o share!
WATER VS. COKE
We all know that water is important but I've
never seen it written down like this before.
75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
(Likely applies to half world pop.
In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is
so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger. Even
MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.
One glass of water shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost
100% of the dieters studied in a U-Washington study.
Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue. Preliminary
research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly
ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory,
trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer
screen or on a printed page.
Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon
cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast
cancer by 79%, and is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.
Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day?
1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two
gallons of Coke in the truck to remove blood
from the highway after a car accident.
2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of
coke and it will be gone in two days.
3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of
Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and .......Let the "real thing" sit for
one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from
vitreous china.
4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper
with a crumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum
foil dipped in Coca-Cola.
5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of
Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.
6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth
soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, Remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.
8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load
of greasy clothes, add detergent, And run through a regular cycle. The
Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze
from your windshield.
FYI:
1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its Ph is 2.8.
It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days.
2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck
must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly
corrosive materials.
3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines
of their trucks for about 20 years!
Can you believe that?
Peace,
Frog

Moi Again! Thought I'd get in a quick one before I leave to get some pita bread and Michael, in that order.
BEACH, doesn't that suck to be up when you know it's nothing you ate - as we've both been patient with following this WOE, I guess we will have to be patient with our temporary gains as we wait for them to go back down. Just when I think I see a pattern in my ups and downs, I find there really isn't much of a pattern and I really don't know what to expect except when I go through those peak T'sOM! Once I get to goal, for sure, I'm doing another 5lbs! I too have to go to the GYN, hate going, esp. now since I find out my last Dr. no longer takes my insurance, I hate trying to find someone new! Boobie squish needed here as well, have the referral, now I have to make the appt! Hope we both come through it with flying colors! Wonder how they squish those perky little boobs - mine will lie flat on the table, or whatever they squish it with!
MSLIZ, "booblically challenged" LOL!!!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif Thanks for the laugh!!
SAS, keep us informed on what's going on - try not to get too stressed over the move!!!! Have a great time at dinner, and enjoy your movie - let us know what you saw!!!
COUNTRY, well....anything puffed supposedly has a high GI, even though it's wheat. I didn't know this at the beginning when I started SB, and cut it out quickly. I did the same with the brown rice cakes, even though SB says they are legal. I question some of the things they say are legal when I see the GI. The GI for puffed wheat is 74. If you don't have any problems with it, enjoy it-see how you do if you want to eat it, but personally, I stay away from it. Congrats on another pound!
RHROO, like you, I never learn-I'm getting there though, I'm posting more of my posts in my "write mail" form and then pasting it onto the board. Send that picture over - I'll be happy to do it for you when you have one to send!!!
JOYCE, I get the agave nectar at the HFS, Whole Foods in particular. I have a few sites you can get it on the web listed on the FOOD INFO. BOARD, but it really comes out too expensive, try to see if you can find it locally - it's delicious!
FROG, thanks for posting that, I've seen some of those wonderful things Coke can do, but there were some new ones - ugh!
Well, I'm off-been on the computer too long today, only got some laundry done and my sheets washed and bed made up - what would I do if I were forced to work?!?!?
Check in with you all later!

I just wanted to quickly post to say hi and that I've read all your posts but am currently time challenged so didn't take my usual notes  but...
1. Wanted to thank you all again for the good wishes about my Dad. Thank you thank you thank you!
2. Ya'll need the bliss that goes with having a digital scale that does not do decimals! ;)
3. Does anyone get the fitday data just right, in terms of intake goals, the right percentages of fat vs. carbs, calories, etc?
4. We have another weekend from h*ll planned  so I'll probably be lurking over the weekend. Stay OP and have agreat one - I'll be back to full yacking status on monday....
Geez, where is everyone today/tonight??

I havn't posted on here in a while....and for that I appologize. I went to the gynocologists  today and was diagnosed with POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME. This syndrome can cause MANY, MANY, MANY problems, and one of those is obesity! So, whether that has caused me to gain weight so easily or not I don't know.......but it sure makes a lot of sense. It also makes weight loss harder........which definately doesn't make me happy. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//crying.gif Well, I have to go now to get some sleep. No matter what, I'm going to keep trying!

Hi everyone! Had a pretty good day today and I even went out for lunch. I had a steak caesar salad with dressing on the side. For dinner I made a turkey sandwich on whole wheat with veggies, cheese and lite mayo on it and an orange. I haven't quite had all of my calories yet, but I feel pretty good and it's late so I won't eat anymore today. Because of the steak, lite mayo, turkey and cheese on my sandwich, I have had a little too much fat today though.
Anyway, you all have a great weekend.

Hi,
I have been enjoying my vacation, and got some things done that were long over due. I didn't weigh in this week, the scale I use is at work, but I have kept up my walking, have managed to go every day for the past 10 days, going at least 2 miles and sometime 3 miles at a time. Last night I even went miles.
Was glad to hear about all the good successes everyone has had, and sorry to hear about the bad stuff too.
Cheri, just wanted to let you know that I am so glad to see you here and doing so well. Keep up the great work.
I hope that all has a great weekend. Laurie

Happy Saturday Everyone :D
Occassionally I reread the SB book mainly to keep me motivated. I came across a statement that I think is important to highlight:
"Eating a double portion of a low GI carbohydrate releases the same amount of insulin as a high GI carbohydrate".
I know I have been very careful not to eat 2 pieces of WW bread at the same time etc. For the newbies this is an important concept. Hope it helps.
FYI...We have a Farmer's marke near me that has the BEST Florida strawberries. They are in season right now and very sweet and delicious. If you can find some they are well worth the $1.99/pint.
GloryB: We've missed you! Welcome back.
Barbee: Didn't have time to say hi during the week. I enjoy your post and hearing how things are.
BigOrange: Go SEC...Do you like baseball? My family follows that pretty closely and usually the SEC baseball tournament is here. You sound like you are doing great these days. One more time (I know I should look back on the post but I can be lazy sometimes :) ) What is the name of the green bean seasoning...
Gator: HI :D I went to the farmer's market yesterday and will be making your ratatouille...yum yum.
Viv: Glad your Dad is doing better...I've been there and it's not easy. I'm thinking about you.
Frog: Thanks for the info.
Rhoo: I hate losing my post...lately it hasn't been so bad. I never have gotten into the habit of posting on a word program and then transferring it. For some reason it just interfers with my ideas LOL.
Newbies and others welcome and hope things are going well.
Went for a 5 mile walk yesterday. I'm really enjoying the warmer weather. It was beautiful outside. I've decided not to time myself anymore because part of my enjoyment is seeing the scenary and lately I've been more worried about time and speed than the enjoyment. I walk pretty fast anyway so that should still get my heart pumping.
Deb: I'm down today to 139. The water weight and retention is so bad sometimes. I also think that the smaller you are the more you realize and feel the bloating. I know when I was 222 I didn't notice it at all. Now, I felt my feet swell my hands and my stomach...The walk really helped take it off yesterday. I also made an effort to drink even more water than I normally do...and that's alot.
Well, I hope to get a walk in today. Son has baseketball and promised my daughter we would go to a new outlet mall near here.
See you later:

Hi All,
Hope everyone is enjoying the week-end!!! Love that www.fitday.com (http://www.fitday.com) site. I never realized just how high my fat intake was.
Viv... Yes, you to can have Brad Pitt dreams. Just simply eat an apple before bed & after watching his new movie "Snatch". :)
Kapola...Wow, 3.25 gone for good!!!
Karen... I know what ya mean about how easy it is to follow this program. I did CALP but after 3 days I knew it wasn't for me. Whatever works for you.
Debelle... Thanks for the Sample Menus AND all the hard work you do for this forum. By the by, I think 10kms. is 6.5 miles. The run is on April 15th. I'm so greatful that I've found someone to "train" with. Good fun!
Take care,

Good morning everyone!
This way of eating is so much easier than anything else I've done in a while. Even my Mom who lives with me is doing it too. I'm so glad that I found all of you and decided to give it a try.
Laurie, glad that your vacation is going good and I'm glad to hear from you again.
All of you are so good with your walking. I really need to get out there. I walk occasionally but I need to make it a habit everyday.
Thanks again everyone for your inspiration.

Good Saturday Morning Everyone! :D
Went to a few garage sales this morning, nothing fantastic out there, didn't have many around my way-better that I don't spend the money on junk I don't need!
ANGELA, that's good that you continue to try. I see many women on this and other boards with PCOS be successful in losing weight, and I'm sure that you will too - you just may have to try harder. There's lots of info on the web to learn more about it.
CHERI, don't worry about a bit more fat than normal, a few grams either way really doesn't make a difference in the course of a day, it's doing it day after day that makes it impact us. I had too many too yesterday! I totally agree with you, this IS the easiest WOE I've ever followed, it's a sin when anyone tacks on the word DIET to this WOE!!
IAMAP, sounds like you are enjoying your time off, like who wouldn't!?! If we can make plans with QUILTER to meet in Naples/Marco, would you be game to come??
OVERCOME, the bar, maybe to keep in your purse as an emergency item, but not knowing the sugar content, it's hard to say. PERSONALLY, I wouldn't touch it, for the same 250 calories, 39 grams of carbs, you could easily have a pretty good sized meal/dish. It also has a few no-no foods in it, so I'd say, stay away from it. BUT, you know, that's just my opinion :)
BEACH, thanks for pointing that pertinent information about double portions-it's a good one! LOL! Your Fla. strawberries are cheaper for you than for those of us in Fla! Publix is selling them for $2.29 a pint  I did buy raspberries though, and they are delicious! I was even more thrilled to see the pint I ate had 11 grams of fiber in it!!! Glad to see you back down below 140 again, I'm right under it too. It has to be WW because I'm drinking so much and not much is coming out-wish the flood gates would open up!!!!
JAN, thanks for the nice words! :D Glad you are enjoying using the fitday.com site, I too think it's great! Sounds like the perfect time of year to do a run-I'm SURE you will send us a picture of you crossing the finnish line!!!
Well gals, I've got to get Michael geared up to go to a Bar Mitzvah party in a little bit. I'll check in with you all sometime later.
Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Hi Friends! Boy, I really feel like a delinquent SBer. Sorry I haven't been on, but have been super busy. I'm going to report now and then go back and read and respond in a little while. DH and I are planning a mega grocery shopping trip to Aldi's and the HFS, so I may have to stop abruptly on this.
Anyways, let me tell you that Thursday was great. After the fantastic luncheon and the visit from Curtis at our class, the evening was a wonderful way to end the day. There were at least 350 people at this dinner sponsored by Time Warner. And it was a real great mix of people--teachers, adult students, children students, corporate bigwigs, volunteer tutors. Everybody just rubbing elbows and celebrating literacy. Anyways, the meal was so-so. After the spectacular lunch, it was a let down, but still FREE. Really good salad, chicken & ribs with new potatoes (I gave those to Paul), green beans. They had some chocolate cake thing for dessert. I took one very small bite and that was it. It really didn’t look that good, but hey, chocolate is chocolate.
Then last night Time Warner had a huge Mardi Gras bash at the Cinti Museum Center for their employees and friends. That was really fun. The food wasn’t so great. I did cave and have some ice cream and two cookies. I am disappointed that I did that, but can’t do much about it now other than to get back on the horse and start anew today. They had a couple of New Orleans zydeco bands and the drinks were free. There was dancing and a lot of hoop-la. Groovy costumes. We got to go into all the museum exhibits and they have a really good one about the Titanic. Then went to the big omnimax theatre to see a film on the Titanic. That was fun too. So all in all, I am partied out. DH and I slept until 11:30 today. That never happens.
Of course, I was having major clothes anxieties about what to wear last night. Didn't want to do a costume, but still wanted to look presentable. (Not much that fits since I got rid of all my big sizes.) So yesterday found a great sale at Talbots and got a three piece outfit (Plus matching tights) for $100. I think that’s pretty good at Talbots. Plus I love the way they size their clothes. I bought a SMALL sweater and the jumper was a SIZE 14!!!!! That really made me want to do back flips!
Anyways, concerning our trip to FL. I think we will do Busch Gardens and Orlando on Thursday and Friday, so I’ll be somewhat free on that Saturday, the 10th. We won’t have a rental car down there, so I’ll be at the mercy of my niece. I will talk to her about the Naples spot. If she’s not keen on driving there, I can always rent a car for that day. Let me know what you all think. This will be so much fun. I can’t wait to get together.
Okay, gals! Thanks for putting up with my rambling. I’ll be back on later to respond to your posts, but I feel so behind. It will take a while. Hope everybody is having a great weekend. It was 67 here yesterday and it’s supposed to drop 50 degrees by tomorrow. Boo-hoo! But I have irises peeping their heads up, so that’s a good sign! Spring is just around the corner.
Take care.

Good Saturday to everyone! I've been working on housework today. What fun huh! LOL Things are going good here. Still on program. It amazes me that there was a beautiful chocolate cake at work yesterday, and "I Wasn't" even tempted. My co-workers were wondering how I could not want to have some. SO anyway I passed that up! I'm sure it was delicious...
I have a question, is fat free cool whip legal? I get a bit confused on some things.
Well dh will be wanting his dinner soon so I'd best skidaddle..
I'll check back later... Have a great day!

Good Evening Ladies (male lurkers too) :D
WHAT A DAY I'VE HAD....MY WATER HEATER BLEW UP THIS MORNING  water water everywhere
Home Depot came to the rescue with their emergency water heater 800 line!
Water standing in my utility room, went thru the base of the wall into my bedroom and into the closet in the hallway! I've had the
"shop-vac" out sucking water all day..MY WHOLE DAY HAS BEEN SHOT!!!!
So let's see...a new water heater today, a washer and dryer tomorrow (had already planned that one) and I STILL HAVE TO GO TO SPORTS AUTHORITY AND ARRANGE TO HAVE MY TREADMILL DELIVERED! At least, all I have to do there is pass them the "plastic"...they get to do all the work getting it here.
Beach: the name is WILEY'S BEAN AND PEA SEASONING..you won't be sorry...just ask GATOR and DEB...
QUILTER: sounds like you've had a really busy weekend..I love parties like that and I LOVE ZYDECO (sp?) music. I could listen to that all day..I wouldn't do for me to live in Louisiana...too much good food and music!
Naples will be fun. If you've never been there, Old Naples is beautiful and a lot of unique little shops to visit. Deb has a great place to eat on Marco Island..Let us know...IT WILL BE FUN!!!
Deb: tell Michael to have a good time at the party. I know you've worked hard enough to get him clothed for it!
$2.99????? I saw them here for $.99 a pint and $1.49 a quart! Guess I better grab them babies up...
GLORY..so glad you're back...WE'VE MISSED YOU...how's the DH and Snugglebug?
ANGELA: sorry about the dx, but you're eating the right plan of foods. Keep your protein up and your starches down.
lamap: glad you're enjoying your time off. We've had some beautiful weather for you. Hope you and your DS are feeling better. It takes a while to get over this crud that's going around down here. You should think about meeting us in Naples when Quilter comes down.
BARBEE...can you make it over to Naples for the day when Quilter comes? or is it too far for you? George would really get a good "first timer's" look at the Gulf that way. Especially on Marco...
OVERCOME..look for that chocolate bar that Debbie introduced me to, YOU WILL LOVE IT!!
I'm loving it too much for my own good!
JAN...Ok, I'll BITE....what's the apple got to do with it?
CATHY..can't answer about the cool whip, but I'm sure someone will...you know this bunch..can't keep their mouths shut about anything! LOL
BEACH...I almost forgot...I'm not much on baseball, but the rest of my "orange family" does..I do tune in once in a while when the BIG O is on the tube.
Better get some dinner ready...more later

Well, I am back and all caught up! Whew! Now I just have to finish my assignment from DEB and I’ll be footloose and fancy free. Sorry this is so long, gals, but I was really behind. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
KAPOLA---I’m so sorry to hear that you’re having some definite car downers. That’s really is such a shame. I hope you weren’t in the latest accident. Hang in there. Better times just have to be ahead. The weight loss is awesome. Keep up the good work.
JOY---Hope the birthday bash was everything you expected. Remember drink plenty of water to keep that hangover at bay. I love the idea of you getting smaller and smaller at each family function this year. What an incentive to keep on track!
VIV---So happy to hear a better than expected report on your dad. I’ll still keep him in my thoughts and prayers. Must be pretty stinky being on the outs with his wife and feeling crappy. Let’s hope he snaps back to good health real soon.
JOYCE W---Welcome back! You are right . . . this is a marvelous group. Hope you have tremendous success. Just stay committed to posting every day and all these great women will get you through it. I really stay on plan better when I know I’m going to get online and share what’s been going on. It’s hard to write about cheating. I’ve had to “confess” a couple of times. Icky. Anyways, glad you’re back. I’ll be interested in learning from you, too.
KAREN3000---Welcome to you, too. I’m glad you stopped lurking and joined in. We are all hear to help each other. It is a strong bond we have going here. Everybody watches out for each other. Hope you find the WOE easy and successful for losing weight.
ORANGE---I think I missed something. What are you and GATOR talking about when you say “the Wileys”. At first I thought it was a family of people. HA! Now I’m guessing it’s some sort of seasoning for veggies. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know. I love my veggies and love cooking them in all sorts of weighs. Plus I LOVE GREENS. I bought a big head of cabbage tonight that I want to cook. Any super, spectacular ideas for it???? Forget all this, I just read what you wrote later. But is it a specialty store thing, or do you get it anywhere?
CATHY---I’m impressed that you have zuchinni in the freezer. Do you grow it and then keep it in the freezer? That would REALLY be impressive. I’m lucky to have three chicken breasts in there when I need them.
BEACH---Is this your first mamogram? If so, let me tell you that it’s no big deal. For me it just amounts to about 3 seconds of “ouch” and then that’s it. Hope you have a really experienced tech who has warm hands and a knack for conversation. Ha! This must be the time of year for dr appointments. I have my Gyn fun time next Friday. Don’t mind it much. AT least it’s quick and over before you realize. What I really don’t like is now that I’m over 40, they feel the need to poke around in another place down there. That’s definitely an “outy” hole, not an “inny”. Yuck. Hope I didn’t gross anybody out.
COUNTRY---Way to go on the 4 pounds. YOu are really going strong. REmember even if it does come back on a little, at least you know that magic number is obtainable. I love when I “break a zero” and go down into another ten category. When I was on WW there was a brief time that I got into the 160’s and I was flying high. Of course, I totally screwed that up, but at least I know if I did it once, I can do it again.
JOYCE---I just bought some Agave Nectar at the HFS tonight. It was 2.99 for an 8 oz jar. How does that price sound to anybody out there who is buying it often? I’m thinking about looking for it on the net and seeing if I can get a better price.
FROG---I LOVE the article about the coke. I had heard before that it would clean a toilet, but hadn’t heard any of the rest of it. I very rarely drink pop. Especially since now I don’t eat popcorn. Those two always went together, but now happily they are both gone.
ANGELA---Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. That’s such a bummer. Don’t you wish it would be the opposite. Why does it always have to be that things retain your weight? Having something wrong is one thing, but then when they tack on, “Oh and you’ll gain weight and won’t be able to take it off easily” that really stinks. I’m glad that you are commited to keep going. We’re all here for you.
BEACH---Don’t you think that when you were 222, you were ALWAYS bloated and holding water and you got used to that feeling. Now that you’ve lost so much, the bloating is not around as much as it used to be. So you are not accustomed to it anymore and that’s why you feel it so much. Just a theory.
I sure hope LAMAP & BARBEE could do the meet and greet when I’m down in sunny FL. What do you think, gals? Ready for some more SB fun? One thing is for sure . . . we won’t have to worry about a lull in conversation. Ha! We can all talk. That’s for sure!!!
Has anybody bought any of the Lundberg Jubilee rice? I got the gourmet blend of 7 premium brown rices and it looks pretty good. I only took a taste, because I was cooking it ahead for tomorrow. Its ingredients are: sweet brown rice, short grain brown rice, long grain brown rice, Wehani, and Black Japonica. Hey that's only FIVE. Oh well. There were two other kinds there, but I thought I'd just try this one. I think I'll make the zuchinni, mushroom, soy sauce creation.
Also, the demo that Curtis Aikens cooked for us the other day is called Bok-Choy Shitake Stirfry. I found it today on his website: www.curtisaikens.com. (http://www.curtisaikens.com.) He has a bunch of recipes there, but I'm sure this was the one he made. This recipe calls for noodles, but I think it would be great mixed with brown rice. I LOVE the ginger and sesame oil in it. So aromatic!
Better skeedaddle. Laundry is calling. Another hoppin' Saturday night here. DH is asleep in the recliner and it's not even 8 p.m. Heavy sigh.
Toodles!

REAL QUICK TO QUILTER
This company makes a seasoning for everything. I like the bean and pea because it isn't a strong flavor, but tastes like your beans have been cooked with "fatback"!
I also use the bean and pea for my kale...when you cook collards, use their greens seasoning though..They are a strong flavored green anyway and the mix is wonderful.
I'm sure you can get it at Kroger...it's in the produce department..usually hanging up somewhere. Too bad we can't eat white potatoes....they have a garlis seasoning that is TO DIE FOR...
They come in square packets and the seasoning is powdered. One packet for every two pounds of green beans you cook...I've even used the greens seasoning to cook pinto beans....it has a ham flavor and really make the beans taste good...
Good luck

GRACE--You did the absolute right thing by getting on the board and letting us know what's been going on. Yes, it is so easy to fall back to our old way of eating. And it certainly is quicker to stop and do the fast food thing. But you can get back to the SB way of eating. Just don't beat yourself up about reverting and don't let this one time period where you are busy and stressed dictate the rest of your eating lifestyle. You deserve a healthy body and SB is definitely a healthy lifestyle. It's okay. Just get back up and try again. That's all the rest of us do. I had some non SB things to eat this weekend. But it is just this one weekend and not every single weekend to come along. Anyways, just wanted to get back to you as quickly as possible to say, "These things happen." Besides, you'll feel better once you get all that ick out of your system and fill your body with good food. Right???
Take care.

Hi everyone - Sounds like it's been a busy day for everyone. We are having a cold snap now and I can't get used to it this time.
Quilter, here's a recipe that I converted to make it "legal." We really like it. I'll move it to the recipe board for next week.
Baked cabbage
1 med. size head of cabbage, coarsely shredded
1 T. favorite sugar substitute that can be heated
2 T. WW flour (the original recipe just calls for regular flour, but I don't think the switch will make a difference)
1 c. cream (I use reduced fat evap. milk to save on the fat calories)
6 slices bacon
salt and pepper to taste (or whatever seasoning you like
Place shredded cabbage in casserole dish. Mix sugar substitute and flour; combine with cream and seasonings. Pour over cabbage, put bacon on top and bake 40 minutes at 350 degrees with cover on.
Remove cover for afew minutes to crisp the bacon.
Serves 6
This is an old family recipe so I don't have the carb/sugar counts. Let me know if you try it!
I had an on-program breakfast today and didn't get hungry again until late afternoon. I was busy, so I didn't take the time to fix something to eat. I had a great supper, which was also on program, and didn't even over eat then. All in all, satisfied with the day and planning to keep it up. This is a great bunch of people to be going through this together with! Thanks for welcoming me.

GOOD SUNDAY MORNING!
No I have not gone to bed yet. Our life is always so crazy. Back to Orlando today. My niece from Georgia and my nephew came in and went over to see them and out to eat.
I always read the board -- WELCOME NEWBIES! Hope you all stick around longer than a week -- give this a try -- you will not regret it.
KAPOLA -- just what do you mean SB is too clicky. I hope to God you are not talking about us because that is the furthest thing from the truth. And one on one diet buddies -- we are all one big happy family here -- we ALL help one another out. Have you been around very long? I have been on the board since May and have made some wonderful friendships - even to the point of some of us meeting one another face to face.
So I would appreciate it if you would clarify your statement.
See -- as someone said on the board -- memory is not as good as it should be -- that I should be the seargant at arms -- well I am doing my job.
Karen3000 - WELCOME! Madison, Wisconsin -- love that town - so pretty and so much to do there. We lived in Freeport, Illinois for 22 years and Madison was about 60 miles from us -- use to shop there all the time.
VIV - you had stated something about me possibly having roots in New York. I am husband is from Long Island - Williston Park and the family has a summer home on Long Island Sound - right on the water - in Fairfield, Conn. How far are you from there as we go there every summer.
COUNTRY -- thank you for telling me where you work. Then I saw you had the name of the town that you live (by the way - NEWBIES - after your name put the name of the town and state you are living in - then put your weight statistics down). I am sure that no one has ever heard of Colchester, Illinois or Carthage, Illinois. Well, I certainly have -- my hometown is QUINCY!!!! Love that town. Small world -- right?
My diet is going just fine. SB and WW . I hit 189 1/2 todayI thought I would never see below 200 -- had been over 200 for so long - seems like 1/2 my life. Once i got under that it just really seems to be moving -- and it can continue.
Was in Orlando Friday night also. Justin (our 25 year old son) was working at Trans Continental Studios -- major recording studio. He is record producer/songwriter,drum programmer. those of you that have never heard of it -- Lou Perleman is the owner. He is the man that Nsync sued -- this is where the majority of their albums were made - also Backstreet. To get in it is like signing your life away.
My husband and I are both musicians and music teachers so this was so cool. There was a lady in there who has a daughter - Summer - new artist who will be releasing record sometime in the late summer. She was siting next to me - the mother. We started talking. Any of you oldies remember the show Father Knows Best? Well she played the little girl - Kathy - for 10 years. That was very interesting and a very interesting person she is.
Well, now I can see that I am rambling. You all take care. Beach -- you are doing so well -- you too deb well for that fact the majority of you.
BOB -- I set you an eamil -- do you not ever read your email -- if not -- please do. sorry to heaer about all your troubless - that is a real bummer!
Hope the weather is not too bad for those of you who do not live in Florida. I am by Daytona Beach -- this whole week in the low 80's -- yeh!
Back in my old stomping grounds - Freeport , Illinois it was 9 today with wind chills of 30 below. We were at 81. I just love getting on the phone and computer and rub their noses in it -- LOL.
EVeryone take care -- keep up the good work and I will be posting again.

Good Sunday Morning Everyone :D
I'm pooped today, but up early just the same. Deciding whether to go and walk, sort of not in the mood, yet another part of me wants to - lets see which part wins after I finish typing this up.
I am up 3lbs today   I think I've had too many fat grams in the past few days, no, I know I've had too many fat grams - so I really have to watch myself today.
QUILTER, how was your shopping trip?? Hope you found lots of goodies. Your day sounded wonderful and most definitely an outfit for $100 from Talbots must of been a great deal, I know it's more of an upscale store, but have never been in it (though they do have them here in Miami). I feel too out of place going into those types of stores. I've already booked the 10th to be coming up to meet with you and Narda. Hoping Laurie (IAMAP) will come meet us as well - Barbee is far, so I highly doubt she will come. Like BIGO said, there are a lot of nice little areas to walk around in Naples, and then we can go to dinner in Marco Island which is just a few minutes away from there. The restaurant is called the VOYAGER and it's in the Marriott Hotel - they have a wonderful early bird special that we always get, and the food and service is always wonderful - but we need to make reservations, so if you'll let me know how many will be in your group I can make the reservations close to the time we meet. Let us know if your niece will be playing chauffer or if you decide to get a car-it will be fun!! You'll have to let me know if you need me to bring anything you aren't able to find up in Cin. BTW, I remember the best bagel place that I ever went to was in Cin, they had the largest asst of bagels I'd ever seen, and one I loved was a Sunflower Bagel -any idea of the place I'm speaking of? Can't remember the name, but would know it if I saw it. I've bought the Lundberg rice before, they're rices are really good.
CATHY, congrats on passing up that cake! On the Cool Whip, no, it's not legal from what I remember. You can make your own though, though I'm not sure how it tastes since I've never made my own whipped topping before.
BIGO, sounds like you've had a weekend from ****!! Sorry you had all that trouble. We're your ears burning last night?? Eli, Sharon & I were talking about you. They both mentioned how nice you were and the way that you feel like you've known you for a long time. :) You'll have to let me know if you need any additional "supplies" from down here before Naples/Marco.
MISSGRACE, today is another day. Don't be mad at yourself, just know you are human and we all make mistakes somewhere or another. Learn from them, but don't repeat them - I sound like a teacher!!!
KAREN, you're having a cold snap and we're having a heat wave - wish there was a happy medium between us! Interesting cabbage recipe. I"m not crazy about cabbage unless it's in coleslaw, but did have some fried which was good. I'm afraid cabbage makes one gassey, is that true????
KAPOLA, I hope you find someone who will be a one-on-one contact. There are lots of people on the 3FC's board who are looking for diet buddies that you can hook up with. Try the support or buddy board. Sometimes it's helpful to have one person to be in contact with and also the board as a group, to keep you on your toes and in line. I would also look into TOPS if you can in your area (you may have already). That's a great group to go meet with for support as well - whatever is going to help you, that's what you do!!!
BARBE, congrats on getting below 190-I go up, you go down. Sounds like you are having lots of fun with Justin being there! I'm sure between having him around and Lori's wedding, you'll be busy, busy, busy! Oh, not to mention, work too!
Well gals, I am outta here. Sharon is here (spent the night) and Eli is home today - both of them are sick - I guess I have to play nursemaid-maybe I should cook for them, my cooking will kill anything that ailes them!
Please remember TOMORROW IS MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY so if you have any words of widsom or inspiration you'd like to share, please plan to post them tomorrow.
I'll check in later this evening!
Have a wonderful Sunday!

Good morning-
Just a quick post. I'll probably be offline for a couple of days b/c we are getting a cable modem. Pete has to run the cable through the same place the telephone wire is now, so he has to take the phone line out first. I would be VERY surprised if the everything works the first time (our cable company is known for being lame!) and just making the arrangements with the cable company thus far has been a very INEFFICENT (sp?) experience....seems there is a lack of communication in their company. Anyway, I will check in from school since I may be out for a few days at home.
Everything has been going pretty well for me RE SB. One problem I am having is too many fat grams per day. Actually too many of my calories are coming from fat (32% to 38%), not too many fat grams. On top of that, I really don't think I am consuming enough calories... usually under 1200. One thing I am going to do is switch to low fat cheese (if I can stand it) and then reduce my cheese intake. I love cheese. I just don't know what to have for snacks!! DEB...I bought some almond butter after hearing you sing its praises. It is tasty (would taste better with sweetener!! :) ) DO you usually put it on crackers? I spread a very thin layer on some apple slices and I liked it. We have been eating more fish (yummy). I am making a fish soup called Chiappino (spelling??). We usually have it on Christmas eve. It will be completely SB legal. I'll share the recipe.
Well, we'll see what the scale shows this week!
Enjoy the rest of you we

Sorry-
Pete distracted me and I clicked "submit"
BIGORANGE..hope all goes better for you this week!! What a disasterous weekend!! It will be exciting for you when your new treadmill arrives!
JOY...hope the weekend party was lots of fun :)
THOSE WHO CHEATED...I know how you feel about eating some not legal...I have been extremely tempted lately. I ate one m -n- m just to have the taste in my mouth. For a split second I considered emptying the whole bag in my mouth!! I quickly threw it away. My problem is when I feel like I am denying myself, I want it more!! I try to remember how it feels to see the scale move down and how my clothes fit so much better. THat usually helps :)
QUILTER...I love Talbots!! A new store just opened up here. I will wait until they have a sale and then shope there. Debbie...you should go to one. They have lots of casual clothes. They are a wonderful fit.
Okay chicks...enjoy the rest of your weekend!

KAREN---Thanks for the cabbage recipe. I’m headed for Krogers and will pick up the bacon and be ready to roll with it tonight. I appreciate you sharing an old family recipe. It sounds wonderful.
BARBEE--You broke the 190’s zero. Good for you. Nope, make that super, tremendous, fantastic, great for you!!!!! That must feel awesome. You are truly our inspiration. I knew I felt a kindred spirit with you. The fact that you and your family are musicians feeds right into my situation. All of my husbands family are musicians. They each play different instruments. DH is a drummer and MIL is a pianist extraordinaire. They all LOVE music and it’s definitely rubbed off on me. Took piano lesson for three years ending last year when my teacher started full-time at Northern KY Univ. So she stopped lessons from her house. Anyways, it’s truly a wonderful part of our lives. I remember the Father Knows Best Show and I remember Kathy with that pony tail and those straight bangs. Did you see any resemblance to her as a child?
DEB---I will talk to my niece today and get all the details straightened out and let you know. It sounds like a WONDERFUL area and I’m really looking forward to it. I think the place you are speaking of is MARX HOT BAGELS. They have sunflower bagels that I always used to get. I had a temporary job next door to them and I would go EVERY day and get egg salad on a sunflower. Too yummy for mere words to describe. Do you want some? I’ll bring them if you would like. But don’t want to interfere with the SB WOE if you’d rather pass. Let me know. It’s a really convenient place to get to . . . on the way to my MIL’s. Also I read your comment to KAREN about feeling gassy after eating cabbage. I found these neat pills at the Herbalist called Food Enzymes. They help to digest foods that may give you some difficulty. I am not a big onion eater, because they just blow up inside of me. But if I take the food enzymes after I finish eating something with onions, there is usually no problems. I also used to take that Beano and it worked pretty good too. I like the idea of the food enzymes better because it’s all natural and is just doing what your body automatically does. The SB book even talks about the stomach using enzymes from the pancreas (I think) to break food items down. So I think they are a perfect fit.
ORANGE---I forgot to tell you how sorry I was to hear about the water heater trouble. That really sounds like NO FUN with other repercussions. Good thing you have a shop vac. We don’t have one and now I’m thinking I should buy one in case something like that happens. Our water heater is very old and since hearing your tale, I’ve started looking at it in a different way. Hang in there, kiddo. Better days are ahead!
Well, I think I’ve made a horrible discovery . . . I can’t be in the same building with a loaf of the Ezekiel sesame bread. I catch myself thinking about it even when I’m not hungry. Looks like I’m going to have to set some real restrictions on my intake of it. Because right now, it looks like it could be dangerous. It’s soooooo good.
Have a great Sunday. We have no plans other than a trip to Dollar General (yeehaw) and Krogers for the Wiley’s. Talk to you later.

HERE'S TO A BETTER DAY THAN YESTERDAY!!
Cathy: Make yourself some "homemade" whip cream. Buy the heavy whipping cream and beat it with the electric mixer. Add your favorite
artificial sweetner to taste and BY JOV YOU'VE DONE IT!!! I use this when I make my three layer sugar free jello. It works well.
Grace: you keep that head up..everyone here is behind you (and all this time you thought that was your butt! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif ) Myself? I'm a SLOW LOSER to say the least..I loose a few, then I gain a few...What matters is the support I get from all of you. Weight loss is a never ending battle...think of us a platoon unit and Deb the commanding officer... :D
Karen: I LOVE CABBAGE..thanks for the recipe
KAPOLA: so sorry you think of us as clichy.
We're really not. It's just that we have gotten to know each other some better than others. Those of us who live in the South and LOVE football have a "natural" closeness,
and that makes us "battle friends". Those of us who live close enough to visit....do....
I never get around to addressing everyone every day. Sorry you take it personal. Good luck in what ever you decide to do. We would like you to stay though...We like our little family!
BARB: I did answer your email...Got only one, and if you sent another, I didn't get it...I'll see if I still have a copy of my reply and resend it to you.
Sounds like you had a good visit over in Orlando.. I used to never miss Father Knows Best...isn't her name Lauren?
Deb: no, my ears were burning, but I thought it was my blood pressure..I'll know better next time! Tell Sharon and Eli that I feel the same exact way about them. Hope they feel better...threaten them with a "rectal thermometer" that will get them on their feet. I'll let you know if I need anything.
By the way, you already know to count me in on those reservations don't you?
OVERCOME: good luck with the connection..you know "men", they think they are WONDER WOMAN in disguise...let us know how it comes out!
QUILTER: I love Talbots too...I'm in there all the time...especially when they have those 60% sales.....
Well ladies...off to look at the washer and dryers...carpet is still a little wet, and I will definately have to "resuck" with the shop-vac again today..
Have a wonderful day

GOOD MORNING LADIES:)
It's so good to be back. i'm trying to catch up with last wks post man this borad is jumping.
i know i'll never get them all read so i'll just go from here. I've lost 1 lb. sence I last posted and then stayed the same with a 91lb. lose. I hate mantaining it's unhealthy for my state of mind:o I'm not big on patiences. Anyway I'm thankful for this board and you ladies to share with.
Big Orange: Thanks for the Welcome Back, DH is great and Snugglebug just keeps surprising us with how great she is and how great she thinks she is. She now seems to be able to understand every little thing we say. The other day I said she never barks at the door and now she does I said she never wines now she does. What can I tell you I'd better watch what I say.:O How have you and yours been doing?
Beach: Thanks for the welcome back, I've really missed you all. And thanks for the info on the red cross I appreciate it. you a great help.
Well the family is arising and hungry so guess i'll close for now. love ya glory

Goos Sunday Afternoon!
Thanks to everyone for the input about the ff cool whip. I'm off to the grocery store in a bit so I will pick up some heavy whipping cream and make my own topping. The SB thing is working. I weighed myself this afternoon after eating breakfast and lunch and I weigh what I weighed yesterday morning before coffee, breakfast etc. SO I am excited to weigh in tomorrow morning after the shower and before work!
I must admit I did do a no-no. Had some peanut butter with low fat choc. chips. Just had a craving. But I'm over and done with that. You know the old pms...
You gals (and guys) are inspiring...
Have a great sunday, back to the dewing room for me!

Good Sunday, everyone!
As for the questions on cabbage giving one gas - I believe cabbage is a cruciferous vegetable, like cauliflower. This type of vegetable is well known for causing this problem. I do have problems with this, but I always figured it was more to the fact that I don't eat enough fiber (I'm working on it), but maybe those enzymes will help. Thanks, Kim, for the tip--I'll be on the lookout for that product.
Some of you seem to talk alot about the Ezekial bread. Is this found nationally, or only in the south? Is that the brand name? So far, the Pepperidge Farm Stone Ground Whole Wheat Bread is the only one I have found that I really like.
Also, why do you suppose if you double a serving, such as bread, it raises the GI. The percentages would stay the same. Also, if you eat two different foods that have the same GI at the same time, does that raise the GI? Is this a compounding effect? This is really confusing to me, but I bet Deb knows!! It's really a relief to have very knowledgable people to ask these questions.
Barbee - I grew up on a farm between Argyle and Monroe, WI. I'm sure you remember Monroe since you had to drive through it to get to Madison. My mom now lives in Monroe at a CBRF, so I go there quite a bit. I should go today, but I just can't get myself to. This particular place is for people who have Alzheimers, and there are days I just don't deal well with it, but that's a long topic. I moved to Madison after high school (1974) and have been here ever since. It has really changed - grown - unfortunately (except for the good stores that have opened now).
On to my housework. Have a great day everyone!

Hello everyone! I'm still hanging in there with this way of eating. Easier every day. I used to have to take water pills because I retain so much water. Since this week, I don't feel bloated, and I can actually see the bones in my ankles  I also took my blood pressure, It is a lot lower. All this in only one week!
Karen: Thanks for the Cabbage Recipe. It sounds delicious.
Big Orange: Sorry to hear about your hot water heater. The same thing happened to me a few years ago on my son's wedding day. It was a mess and a lot of hard work to clean up. I really feel for you.

Hi again. We just can’t seem to get out the door today, so I’ll just keep gabbing with you all.
OVERCOME---We have internet access through our cable and we LOVE it. It’s so much faster and you are always connected. Plus DH can be on his laptop at one site and I can be with you all at 3FC and we can still get phone calls. Very sweet. Hope your install goes well. Not fun going through all the red tape to get what you want. I know exactly what you are saying about denying myself and the desire for it magnifies. I am right there with you on that one. I love that you threw the rest of the candy away. How strong you are!!! I’m not sure I’d have been able to pull that one off. Glad to hear you are a Talbots fan. I have to say that when I first walked in I thought I wasn’t dressed appropriately for that store. Felt kind of grungy. But the sales people were so nice and helpful. They made no distinctions between me and the woman with the expensive outfit on.
KAREN---I get the Exekiel bread in Cincinnati, but only at the Health Food stores. I only like it toasted though, so I will still use the PF bread if I want to take a sandwich to work.
We are trying to find hotel rooms in Naples. Any recommendations???
Bye, Y’all.

Hi Everyone...Happy Sunday :D
It's been a productive day for me...paid bills(Yuck), cleaned house (double yuck) and did wash (yuck, yuck, yuck!) Bathed the dog and cleaned the gerbil cages (quadruple yuck!) But it is done now and I can play some.
I wanted to answer the question about doubling a legal carbohydrate and why that is not good. If you eat a double portion of a legal carbohydrate then you release the same amount of INSULIN as a higher GI carb. Remember the reason we eat low GI carbs is to keep our insulin levels lower. If you double the portion your body needs double the amount of insulin to process the sugar in the carb. That is why it is not good.
Glory B: Glad things are better for you and 1 pound is great considering all the stress you've had.
Barbee: Under 190 WOW. You are doing so well stay with it and keep it up :)
BigOrange: So sorry about your water heater and everything else. Sometimes life just bites! Glad things are better today.
Misgrace: Just Begin AGAIN and do it. You can make this happen. I'm going to post my favorite motivational saying tomorrow. Cut it out and put it on your refrigerator!
Quilter: Nope it's not my first mammogram. I had my first biopsy at 17 and have had problems ever since. Cancer runs rampant in my family so the doctors have been probing and prodding on me forever. I should be use to it but I'm not.
DEB: You'll drop. Just hang in there.

AFTERNOON LADIES,
Mission accomplished! Got myself a lovely set of Maytags....ON SALE I MIGHT ADD!! and while I was there, the sale was so good, I decided to just go ahead and replace my wall oven...it's the original from about twenty five yrs ago (in the house when I bought it).
Delivery on Wednesday for that, and Saturday for the laundry duo...I think I'm just about set now... Need to do some painting, but that will wait until after season is over. Around here, everyone jacks up the prices from December thru April!
My mother is moving in with me, so I need everything to work properly...She's not getting any younger, and really doesn't need to be alone. This will be different, so everyone keep their fingers crossed that we don't kill each other in a weeks time! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif
QUILTER: I'll check out some places for you and get back to you. Really though, unless you just don't want to drive back to Parrish, it really isn't a bad drive. You're probably about thirty minutes above me, and it takes me about 90minutes to go to Naples. By then, the days will be longer and it's interstate all the way.
Let me know if you find the Wileys....I can't wait for you to try it..
KAREN: look in the freezer section at your grocery where they have the vegetarian stuff.
EZEKIAL is usually there. AND when you do find it, keep it in the fridge...It's definately not a counter top bread...
THANKS TO EVERYONE for helping me through my "pity party" with the water heater. I sure don't want to go thru that again for a while! My plumber did give me a tip that will help everyone's tank last longer...every six months, hook up a water hose to the front and let is drain for about two minutes. This will release all the sediment that collects in the bottom of the tank...
BEACH: if I had known you were going to be that productive today, I would have brought the laundry, bills AND THE DOG up to you!
GLORY: everything is pretty good here. Skeeter has to have eye surgery on Tuesday. He has developed a huge skin tag that started on his eyelid and grew underneath.
They will cut a v in his lid, remove the growth and then sew it back together! If they send him home with one of those lamp shades on his head I will just die...The last one he turned wrong side out and looked like he was wearing a tootoo!!!!! DOG OF THE ARTS!!!
DEB: I'm making hummus today can't wait to get my spoon into it!!! Going to thaw out some pita...
Better get going...hope I didnt miss anyone..

Hi all.
I have been gone for awhile. Been sick with bronchitis really bad. But I am on the mend. At least I think so, so now it is time to get back in the action. All encouragement to get me going again would be great.

Back from the store and being nosey to see what’s happening on the board.
ORANGE---Weren’t you a busy little shopper today? Why not just do it up right when it comes to those home appliances. We have one of those icky old ranges that has the world’s first microwave attached to the top of it. I have never even turned that part on because it’s so old. I swear it would probably kill us from radiation or something. Anyways, it’s also the putrid green of days gone by. We had the side by side that also matched, but thank God it bit the dust. Now we’re just waiting for the range to go bye bye. Hope you and your mom get along well. My MIL & SIL moved in together about 7 years ago and that has not been all sunshine and roses. But I honestly think you are a lot nicer than my SIL and you will make sure everything works out. There’s a whole other story there regarding SIL. I came up bupkis on the Wiley’s. Those poor little produce guys looked downright stupified. I also checked on the seasoning aisle. But no good. I’m going to keep checking. That’s not a particularly great Krogers we were at today. So one of the super dooper stores might carry them. I was bummed. But am making Karen’s cabbage tonight and CAN’T WAIT til it’s done.
CAROL---Welcome back!!!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!! Doesn’t it just feel right to be back with your SB buddies?
Will check in later. Need to go see how the cabbage is coming along.

Hi everyone!! Sure have missed posting & reading this week, but have not had a chance to get online since Wed.
Scale was up that day, but have lost a total of 2 lbs this week. Past up cake & other goodies at a baby shower yesterday & past up all the desserts at our church fellowship last night! I have endured!!! :D It is really starting to show the 8 lbs I've lost since 1/1/01.
Oh My Gosh!! 5 pages! Trying to read & catch up with you guys, but don't have time right now, so will try later to night.. Just wanted to let ya'll know I'm still kicking!! ;)

Evening Everyone!
Thought I'd get in a quick post before I hit the grocery store. Sent Eli for raspberries, he got blackberries instead. Sharon is still here, staying another night - she's running 100.4 fever and looks a fright - just praying I don't get sick being around her and Eli - they both got the same thing, hmmmmmm :)
Nothing eventful in my life today, really a laid back day. Nope, didn't even get in my walk. Went to the flea market to get a few veggies and actually found a shirt, or course, it's blue jean material, but it has little purses appliqued on it-happy to report, it's a size M :D
OVERCOME, I wouldn't worry about having 2-3ounces of cheese a day, esp. if you do lower fat choices. You definintely need to get your intake at 1200 or above - but you know where you need improvement and it's easy to see and easy to change :) What brand almond butter did you get, the one I eat, I'd never think of it as needing sugar-ick http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sick.gif I put some on a Ryvita crisp every day - I love it! You probably are use to having pb with added sugars in it?? Fish soup, sounds interesting! Isn't Talbots a bit pricey?? Trust me, if so, you won't be catching me there unless there's a deep discount sale!
QUILTER, that's possibly the name of the bagel joint. I remember they had choc. chip ones, lots of different varieties. Thanks for the offer to bring some, but I will pass. On the subject of gas, if you ask my family, everything causes me to have gas! LOL! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif I can't blame you with the EZ bread, it's yummy! I'll look into finding decent hotel at a good rate in Naples/Marco for you.
BIGO, glad you had a better day today. I was with the two sickos. Sharon is running 100.4 - she's in her sick bed, Eli is doing some work. Of course I know to include you in the reservations - it wouldn't be a party without you!!! Glad you were able to get some new appliances. Good luck with your Mother, I hope everything works out nicely, that would be great. I love my Mom very much, but to think about her living with me, I don't know who would kill the other first!!! How'd the hummus come out???
CAROL, glad to hear you are doing better. Jump right back into the water, the temperature is just fine (I think that's how that saying goes).
MELF, that's great you are down 2 for the week. Congrats! Don't you feel great passing up those desserts!! Keep up the great work!
GLORY, glad to have you back in action!
CATHY, you'll have to give us a scale report tomorrow. Hope it's down for you, and me for that fact! Speaking of pb and chocolate, if you have access to any SB legal chocolate you can do a open-faced Reese's--this was Sharon's idea today.
KAREN, you may be able to find the EZEKIEL BREAD at any HFS around you. It should be in the frozen/refridgerated section. I keep mine in the freezer and take out 4-5 slices and put them in a baggie and keep them in the fridge and just replenish when needed. Beach answered the question on the GI. Also, if you eat a high GI and a low GI food together, you get a moderate GI response, so keep this in mind as well.
CHERI, glad you are having a good day and finding things easier as the days go on.
BEACH, so I see you had a YUCKY day! LOL! I feel the same when I have to do things I don't like doing, like parting with $$$$!
Well gals, I"m gonna skiddadle from here. I'll probably start the new weekly board a before I hit the hay tonight. Sharon is sleeping in the 4th bedroom where the computer is, and I won't wake her in the morning to get on.
Again, please remember TOMORROW IS MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY!!! I need some!!!

Good Evening ALl!
Its getting late, past my bedtime. The board meeting was a lengthy one. Things are still unsettled. Hoping tomorrow will be better.
Where do you get SB legal chocolate? I wonder if it would be a bad thing to keep around? Too tempting, maybe?
Well tomorrow we take our kids to the pool, that should kill a couple of hours. Then lunch, then work time and before we know it the day will be over.
I will check the scale tomorrow morning before 5:30. I'm hoping for a loss, but if the scale is not down I won't worry cause my body feels different. DH says I'm looking thinner. Have you ever heard the expression "Thick"? I guess thats a nice way to say you've put on a few pounds?!
Well off to bed now. I'll check back tomorrow.

Probably no one will read this, but I have had such a frantic day and it is late, but thought I'd post.
I taught a class this morning at 9:15, then went to church. Then for the next 4 hours 2 other women and I cooked a meal for 150 people, divvied it up into serving trays, and delivered it to 6 separate homes for dinners over the next 3 days. Then home--on the way stopping to deliver one of the meals (chick and yellow rice, salad, black beans with onions and green peppers, key lime pie). Then at home took a shower and welcomed 16 people to my home for one of the dinners, where business was conducted. I am totally exhausted. I spent 3 hours yesterday just buying the food to cook today. I am so glad this weekend is over. We are heading out to Arizona this week so will be gone a couple of days. Haven't even had time to keep up much with the board. Hope everyone has a great week.
