Good Morning:sunny:

It's a busy weekend here and I'm ready to get going! Gotta love that SBD energy! We're starting to pack up for our two weeks over the hill. I've got lots of reorganizing after my shopping day yesterday. A bike ride this morning then breakfast with mom...a bit of weed whacking, tree planting and lawn mowing. Guess I get to do that stuff 'cause DH's ankle is still bugging him. It looks like a beautiful day, though. I love the Summer months!

What's on tap for your weekend? Stop by and say hello :cofdate: I have my stock of healthy foods ready to go and I'll sit and plan this week's menu sometime today. I'm finding it a really helpful tool when I take the time to "just do it".

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good morning Deb, and those to join us today! I love summer days too, especially early mornings although I did sleep in today. Have a safe trip and hope you get everything accomplished that you have plans for.

I'm quite proud of how I handled myself at the Tastefully Simple party last night. No one noticed that I was passing up the samples except the consultant, and she really made a big deal about it. I didn't feel it was any of her business what I ate and didn't eat, but I did tell her she should suggest to her company that they should offer a sugar free line of products, too. I just tried to avoid her for the rest of the party.

Just a couple of errands to run this morning, then the grandkids are coming over to splash in the pool. I should tackle the Mt. Laundry today, too.

Linda, yay for a successful party, especially when faced with a classic "food pusher". Great comeback...suggesting a sugar free line...hint hint hint. Have fun with the kiddos. We won't travel until Monday AM but there's lots to do beforehand.

Good morning :coffee2: Looks like a pretty nice early summer day here too. I'm really enjoying all the orioles in our yard (a least 5-6) even though I am going through almost a jar of jelly a day! Speaking of the yard it rained too much to mow yesterday and I'm really hoping it will dry out enough to get to it today.

Debbie - Enjoy your summer day :)

Cottage - Great job last night :carrot: You reminded me I need to go to the laundromat with the big washer for my bedspread. I'll have to plan other errands in town.

Not a lot of energy here this morning. DW is still dealing with the double vision thing though the allergies seem better. It started at the worst possible time between primary care docs so there's no one managing the issue and no one really pushing it except her. Right now we are supposed to wait until Sept to see a specialist and mid-July for the new primary. It's all a bit stressful but we are trying to slog through. Anyway, that's enough of that.

Today I hope to get the yard done, some laundry, weeding and planting. I'm sure it will be another grill night too. Last night I made stuffed portabellos with spinach, Gimme Lean & feta on the grill. Yum

How is your weekend shaping up?

Good morning!

Debbie, I'm the same way about menu planning. It doesn't really take me long and it makes such a difference. But I always drag my feet about doing it. (2o minutes before I head for the grocery store...:o)

Linda, good for you! I'm surprised that the consultant made a big deal of your passing up samples though - with all the people that have allergies and other dietary restrictions you'd think she'd be more tactful. It sounds like you handled things well. I hope you enjoyed the company, anyway.

It's drizzly here but that's just as well - I've got so much to do! I've been enjoying the first few days of my summer vacation and I've been playing too much. I've got laundry and other housework to do today, plus we got Fergie a flat screen TV for his birthday and we want to mount it on the wall. I need to figure out what to do with all the VHS tapes and vinyl records in our entertainment center, so we can get it out of the living room. We NEVER watch/listen to them anymore but Fergie isn't sure he wants to part with them.... wish me luck! I never should have married a pack rat! ;) LOL

Enjoy your Saturday, friends!

Cyndi, my friend has orioles, too. I have never seen one. So sorry that DW's medical situation is so goofed up. The system sure stinks sometimes. I was thinking we'd better get Kirk's ankle xrayed if it doesn't show improvement and had similar thoughts. Dinner sounds great! I hope you have an enjoyable weekend at home.

Good morning.

I'm blurry-eyed. We had a noisy storm in the wee hours and then one of my nephews woke up because his toe hurt. When he went back to bed his brother was on his side and despite me asking him to just sleep on the other side, woke him once I left the room. Took me a long time to fall back asleep, listening for them.

I stayed OP at the party last night as much as one can eating the meat ordered from a BBQ restaurant:) The scale reminds me today how salty it is. Tonight we have dinner out with friends (DS is watching the little boys) and the menu is pretty much devoid of anything OP. Gotta use up a Groupon though. Honestly, I often resent social occasions because of the food. Oh well, real life includes living and not just "dieting."

Have a great weekend everyone.

Good morning all,
It looks a bit cloudy outside, but that doesn't really matter. My son and I had big plans to go into the city to the Toys R Us in Times Square so he can spend some money he got from my parents for his birthday, but he woke up this morning with a sore throat and a fever so I called the dr. to see if I can bring him in. He's had strep 4x this spring and I suspect it could be strep again; it's going around his school. In any case, if he does have strep we'll get an antibiotic and then if he is up to it, I'll still take him into the city - he's been so excited about it.

I did most of my food prep yesterday and also did the bulk of the laundry - yahoo! Most of my chores are done. DH is actually taking the day today as his "Father's Day Time" to work on his bike and go visit his mechanic, and tomorrow we'll probably go to Governor's Island for the day. Hope everyone has a great one...

Good Saturday morning. I even managed to sleep in until 6:30 so I guess I'm caught up. I did have a refreshing hour sleep yesterday afternoon that took the edge off my crabbies. I decided not to take the finished report to the accountant until Monday which helped the crabbies too.

Debbie, you sound like a Berber woman, with the constant moving and trekking over the hill. I assume the "hill" is the continental divide. I hope Rudi has a comfortable weekend.

Heidi, I sympathize with you in clearing out old tapes! My dear departed Harry had a jazz collection (on vinyl) that went back to the 40's! Luckily I was able to sell them to a collector. I also have several VHS movies, including The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Cyndi, so sorry about Julie's vision woes. That must be scary. I gather the orioles are not on SBD. What kind of jelly are they into? (Note to Self: Make some strawberry jam for the Christmas baskets.) Thanks for the grill reminder - both my propane danks are empty so I'm not able to grill tonight. Refills are on my list.

Our book club at the Lake was such fun despite the blasted mosquitos. We were out on the deck watching the kids swim down at the dock and the skeeters thought we were a buffet. It was a great evening though and there was no food pressure from the hostess. Cottage, that consultant was way out of line! Oh yes, we did discuss the book. It was Three Junes which some of us loved and some of us hated. I liked it.

I have a few things to do indoors and then it'll be into the garden clothes and out to plant. I have tons of space to fill and need to go to the local feed store for some seeds for spaghetti squash and pepper squash. I'll plant more beans too and hope they are ready by August 1 when I have a very important visitor and family coming for a visit. I'll also have the Pypers two dogs boarding here for a week later in the month and dogs do like veggies.

At the Mill this morning, we are selling fig and walnut bread. I am staying away until 11 when it'll all be gone. We sell 40 loaves of bread in an hour and it's become an "event" around here with folks driving here from the nearby "cities" - small cities. Lots of visitors is a good situation in this wee tourist town. We (The Mill) are really hoping to open a wee bakery here one day but funding is the problem as usual.

OK - I intend to be dressed and ready to roll by eight so ...

I hope you all have a great start to the weekend.

Heidi, have fun getting your new tv set up. I got Kirk a machine which transfers his records and tapes to cd's. He's loving it! We have an entire closet dedicated to old vinyl...alphabetized and all.

Karen, sounds like you did pretty well at the party. The reality is that we are a very food centered society and for some reason special occasions just aren't very healthy. Hope your nephew is feeling better today.

Matilda, drat that your DS has a sore throat again. I hope he starts feeling better and that your trip to the city is enjoyable. I have family history in NYC. I miss it alot, especially when you're out and about doing fun things.

Ruth, yes, 'tis the Continental Divide. Your weekend sounds just right...especially your diversion tactic making sure the fig bread will be sold out before you get there. It's the way to keep the scale moving down..down..down..

Ruth - there are two jelly cups and I actually put different kinds of jelly just so I can see what kind they like best. I refuse to feed them jelly with HFCS so it does take a little searching. If it screws with my metabolism I am not about to introduce it into their little bodies. They seem to like red best - strawberry is very popular. They love grape but it's hard to find without HFCS. I got blueberry this time so I'll see how that goes over. Orange marmalade is also popular but I end up with a dish full of perfectly cleaned orange rind bits :) Apricot, however, is not popular.

Excellent morning, all! Mom is on the way here for a couple days to celebrate her birthday, the sky is gorgeous, the pool is good to go - and school is almost over!

Hope you all have as great a day -
Be well.

My son DOES have strep - again - fifth time since January. But he rallied and we did go into the city. It felt good to do that with him and not blow it off. We came home on the early side as his rally was fading, but since we'd already given him one dose of antibiotic I knew he was on his way to feeling better. Spent a lazy afternoon with him watching a movie and me sorting through my sheets, then went out to the middle eastern market which was the kiss of death for my phase 1 today (spinach pie, everything else I got there was on plan). Tomorrow's a new start for that. Not sure what we'll do tomorrow, maybe more of the same.

Good Sunday morning. Another gorgeous day is unfolding. The dogs and I are doing the deck and coffee routine watching the sunrise happen. Church and planting are on the schedule but things may change if the Pypers show up as planned. I sort of hope they do because my BBQ needs some masculine attention and Glenn is good at that. Pork tenderloin cubes are in the marinade for kebobs.

I hope your day is full of fun and frolic.

Good Morning:sunny:

Have a great Sunday everyone! Ruth, I hope Glenn is able to get to your grill, that is assuming they do make it.

We're taking Kirk to brunch this morning. Then coming home to figure out the next step in our complicated life. Somehow or other we're traveling tomorrow...just don't quite have the details yet.

Good morning :coffee2: It's all lawn mowing and yard work around here today. Yesterday we took the afternoon off to go see the baby herons at the rookery. Every nest had babies! DW got some good pictures but came back with a raging headache so today will definitely be an at home day. I'm going to get my poor, neglected bike out this afternoon and head out for a ride. The weather has not been bike friendly around here this year.

Matilda - Hope the antibiotics kick it out fast and this is the last episode.

Ruth - I have a girl grill ;) I'm grilling here too. I love this time of year.

Debbie - I don't know how you do it all and with such a positive attitude most of the time. Hope there's a little time for you in your busy day.

Now to make breakfast and wait until a decent time to start the mower. I don't know why everyone doesn't get up as early as I do :)

Good morning. :coffee:

It's going to be a grilling and pool day here today, too. Carley spent the night with us, and Monica & Eric will drive out after church, along with Dustin, Andrea and the rest of the grandkids. The guys are grilling up steaks, but I don't have a plan for what I'm having yet. Probably a grilled veggie medley of some kind. Jake bought me a nifty grilling basket for the BBQ, and I'm eager to use it. :)

Well, I'd better get this show on the road. I want to go visit Dad before my brother takes them out for the day.

Good morning,

I should be getting ready for church but I am procrastinating so here I am. We celebrated Dad's day yesterday with DH. Did what he wanted during the day and then he went to the Cardinals game with some friends. I took DD2 to the June Jamboree in the next town for the parade and then some rides afterwards. It was a nice day. Did get some laundry done but still have more to do.

Today, have to go into work after church for a few hours for second maintenance window for the month. Good news is since I swapped July for June, I don't have to do the maintenance windows again until October.

Still haven't lost my two lbs but that is probably due to Tom's imminent arrival in a couple of days. We shall see at the end of this week. My goal this week is to check in to this thread daily, it helps to keep me accountable.

Sounds like everyone is back in the swing of summer activities...love hearing what everyone does.

We had quite the boomerang storm in the wee hours woke me up that's for sure. I don't quite remember June being such a rainy month.

Enjoy your Sunday and any Father Day activities you may have planned.

 Just to explain: I certainly know how to operate my big BBQ except Glenn put on the propane tank last time and really tightened it and I can't get it off to install the newly filled one. Just got a call that the Pypers won't be up today so I may have to get with it and use a wrench or something macho.

Actually I think I'll go play with my new electric weed whip and then do some gardening. It's an absolutely glorious day. Both dogs are lying on the deck in the sun and look very comfortable. Maybe I'll go do the weed whipping after a coffee - maybe after lunch - maybe after a nap .....
