I'm posting because I feel it is important to understand what is really happening and what is not ... but none of it is really relevant. What
is important is that the inches are down, weight is down, and Karen is off to a great start on her weight loss journey.
WELL DONE KAREN!

Better question would be how can you gain 1.8 lbs of muscle
in less than a week while in a large caloric deficit? Exercise or no - this is not possible.
Thus, whatever method Karen's coach is using to measure bodycomposition is obviously not accurate. Most likely it is a bioimpedance test. Bioimepdence tests are highly inflluenced by hydration. It is possible that 1.8 lbs of water is being retained and the meter reads it as LBM and the coach calls it muscle.
