GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE! :D
It's a new week and almost the end of the month! Where does the time go so quickly???
Today is MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY and here's my contribution:
Little Choices, Big Results
If presented with the choice, would you choose to be healthy, wealthy, secure in your relationships, happy and fulfilled, or would you choose a life filled with illness, poverty and despair? That's an easy decision. Anyone would choose the first alternative without even thinking about it.
In fact, you do have that choice. It isn't usually presented to you in such a momentous way, and it never comes as a single choice. Rather, the quality and direction of your life depend upon the many, many choices you make, moment after moment, day after day, which build on one another to fashion the reality of your world.
The little choices you make, the ones that seem not to matter much, soon add up to produce big results. They directly affect the life you live. Over the course of every day, you're presented with an overwhelming number of choices. As you make these choices, keep yourself clearly focused on where you want your life to go. Make the appropriate choices, one by one, day after day, and you will be headed powerfully in the direction of your own choosing.
-- Ralph Marston

Gotta go get ready to take Michael to school then come back and get my morning walk in. I'll check in with you all later.

Morning!!!!! Still been busy and nothing earth shattering has happened in my life sooo i havn't been boring you!!!!! LOL
The SuperBowl was excited(i thought!) We went to a little get together before the game-mostly drank coffee but had to try one of the little treats I MADE!!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif I just can't say NO! There was another treat there that was SB legal you all have probably seen this she too triscuts covered with salsa and then melted shredded cheddar and some other white cheese with sliced black olives over it! It was Yummy!!! kinda like mock nachos! I ate the real nachos last night when will i learn!!! They where the baked type (trying to be good even weighed out a portion!) I ended up with a tummy ache!!! When will i learn!! I do love Paul Newman Salas!!!!! and his light dressings check them out! Enough about food!
Motivation Monday-When i first started this journey to healthy living I got on the internet and went to weight loss web pages. To see others before and after pictures and see their loss helped me alot-if they could do it i can!!!! I still look at different ones now and then!!! Now i want to make a site! LOL I think this can help me to keep the weight off-I won't want to let others down!! LOL ONe site i found recently is www.leanandstrong.com/ls.html (http://www.leanandstrong.com/ls.html) if you go to transfer librarays and click on transform gallery you can see some people who have had alot of sucess with weights! I was excited to see it because i am starting to lift some light weights today!!!! Yeah! I can't wait! LOL
Deb-congrats on the 139!! you know your body its all down for now right!! I wish i had you will power you sound like you had a great week end.
Melf-I am sure you will hit that size 12 and then you will say hey I can do this! You will be a 10! Its funny what a number can do to your head!! I guess we should just make little goals and not worry about numbers!! LOL NOT! I can't get Ezicals bread for less than 3 bucks here lucky you!
Frog-Don't ya hate when your stuff gets to big! I love some of my pants and they are getting huge!!!! Its a love hate thing i think!! We all know that scale is not the only way to measure our weight loss!! I have a pair of Kakis that i am debating if i should put them in the dryer, but i don't think that will shrink them enough!!! I am thinking summer here myself! New clothes!! Maybe we should start a clothes exchange! LOL
Also sometimes we can use those times when people don't notice our weight loss to our advantage! That has happened to me before! (after losing 50 lbs!! someone said "you've lost weight! DER!!!!) When people don't notice i think its because they wish it was them or in my case i think they think that i am going to gain it back anyway why compliment her! LOL anyway you didn't sound to upset about it!!!! Keep it up next time you see her you'll be down more maybe she will notice! LOL
CMD-hope the heats fixed!
Gotta goooooo weight time! wish me luck!!1

Good Morning everyone. I ran into Debi on another board and she invited me here. She said you were a great supportive group of women. I love this way of eating and feel best when I am 100% on this plan. Don't we all. I lost 25 pounds eating this way and would like to lose another 25 to 40. We will see how it all goes. I do watch my calories to some degree....most days. I find I still need to do that but I am 43 and the old metabolism just isn't what it used to be.
i live in Minnesota and we are expecting 8 inches of snow before tomorrow ends. I have a treadmill I use in the winter for exercise. But I love to walk outside.
I have some easy recipes that I have modified for this way of eating and will try to post some of them soon.
------------------
Hope you don't find the pounds I've lost.

Good morning!
First of all.... welcome to the newbies!! You'll find a happy, healthy haven here. Good support group, and good friends.
I've posted the weekly total for weigh ins.... lookin' good!!!
Yesterday I went into town (12 miles one way) to buy a space heater for the bathroom. I ended up buying two because our house is kinda big (2000 sq ft) and it was VERY COLD! When I walked in the house, the first thing I noticed was WARMTH!!! While I was gone the heater guy had come. $125 for 10 minutes of work. A valve needed replacing. I didn't care about the money. I figured I'd spend more than that on the electricity for the space heaters.
I'm running behind this morning. I have to train a new employee today so I'm a bit apprehensive. When I asked the supervisor if she had computer skills, he said, "SOME" I hope she's bright, and easy to get along with.....
Have a wonderful, healthy day!

http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//nervous.gif Well, I am back on here. Back on track, back on Sugar Busters. I hate to say it, but I fell off the wagon quite a few times, mainly due to laziness and not feeling well. But that is not an excuse... but it was mine.
I spoke to my husband yesterday and we agreed that we will start again with SB and make sure we stick to it as much as we can. Good. I hate feeling the way I do and all because I was so lazy and wanted 'convenience food'. Yuck.
Anyway, I am back on track, had some coffee this morning with yucky sweet'n'low. I needed some caffeine though because I was about to fall asleep at my desk! Bad, bad, bad http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//umm.gif
So, today for lunch I will have a turkey sandwich on Whole Wheat Bread. For dinner I am not sure.
Deb: I love the idea about making a site where you can read which foods you can buy in the store, that would make it sooo much easier for me too. Also, I would love it if people would say 'where' they got it. i.e. Wal-Mart, Cub Foods or whatever else... that makes it a little easier to find... just like Uncle Sam cereal.
Anyway, I am back and hope I can hang in there until my body adjusts again.

GOOD AFTERNOON ALL :D
Unexeciting day down here, ran errands-you'd think my house would be spotless with all this free time I have - NOT!
Got my 4.5 miles in today, despite some weird pain in my food. It's exactly where I broke it about 15 years ago.
I am logging my foods on the FITDAY.COM site today. I have really come to realize I desperately need to start taking a multi-vitamin! There is an area on the site that you click on called REPORTS, then on that page, you see the NUTRIENT REQUIREMENTS and you click on that. This shows you what the RDA is for nutrients and how many you've taken in by entering what you've eaten for the day - let me tell you, I NEED HELP! I am lacking in just about everything. The only thing I've met so far is NIACIN.
RHROO, your days sounds as exciting as mine! The triscuit thingies sound good, though I'm sorry to hear you got sick from the nachos. Next time, why not try making your own with some WW tortillas. I checked out that site, some good pics of people who've taken control of their bodies. Looks like most are doing BFL. Did you see the 9 week picture of this women named VAL, what a difference!
DONNA, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!! I'm sure you will feel right at home on here, all the gals are wonderful!! So true about feeling good and being on plan 100%. I too keep track of my caloric intake, I think it definitely helps. Minnesota, home of that wonderful Mall of the Americas! Would you believe, I went there once, just to go shopping! When I lose all my weight I plan on hitting the mall in Edmonton!!!! Again, welcome to the board :D
JOY, glad to hear your heater is working again, darn that you have to go back and return the heaters though. Hopefully, I'll be able to post on the WIW board this week, didn't want to screw up totals last week.
CATSRULE, glad to see you back on the board, and back on track. When you are having a hard time, just get on the board-I really believe the more you are on here the more you are apt to stay on track. Thanks for your input on the new board.
RIZZI posted this, though it got onto the wrong board. Wanted to get it over here. Here is her post:

Thanks for sharing!

RIZZI, I see you too are from Florida - where?? We have a lot of gals (me included) on this board from the Sunshine State :D
Well, BIGORANGE, GATORGAL & I are looking forward to our Saturday meeting this weekend. I'll be sure to take pictures!!! Of course, not being able to post for over 24 hours is going to be a killer! Eli and I are planning on having dinner in Marco Island at one of our fav. restaurants as an early Valentines Day dinner :)
I'll check in with you all later - Michael just got home with the good news he got all "A's" on his mid-terms - that makes a Mother proud http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif

Motivational Monday Evening:
Here are my contributions to the cause. They are quotes from George Sheehan, a wise man who was a very quotable runner.
A quote that I hope will motivate those who are not exercising to get up and move their body's:
"Most people live nowhere near their limits. They settle for an accelerated aging, an early and precipitous fall. They give aging a bad name."
For those of us who need a shot in the arm:
"There will never be a day when we won't need dedication, discipline, energy and the feeling that we can change things for the better."
I ran 3 miles with hubby and our fur child this morning. Had a bit of a stressful day at work and was glad to have the calm and peace that comes after a morning run to help keep me grounded.
Deb - I loved the quote of 'Little Choices, Big Results' that is what SB is all about and certainly the best way to change a bad habit to a good one. DId you have a pain in your food or your foot? http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif Where is the pain? On the underside? Pleas be careful not to over-do it with a sore paw! Hooray for Michael and his excellent mid-term grades. You must be sooo proud!
Cathy H - We are all hear to support one another. Tell us a little about yourself and what you beleive your needs to be and I bet you will get lots of assistance from the folks here. Welcome to our SB board!
Rhroo - thanks for the tip on the lean and strong site. Plan to check it out later. You are right about baggy pants being a good way to show a loss! I plan to take the pants that I really care about to have them altered, as I too have tried the "shrink" method and it's not working. How can anyone not notice a 50# loss?
Donna 125 - Welcome to the Cool SB Board! We love newbies and want to help and want to hear your thoughts. You live in one of my favorite states. I have visited Minnesota on 3 occasions and have found Minnesotans to be among the friendliest people in the nation! I love cold weather but have never been able to visit there in the winter! It's great that you've lost 25 #s already. We are similar in that I've lost almost 20 and want to lose another 40. Welcome!
CMD - glad your heater is repaired. Nothing like heating and air conditioning to work like it's supposed to!
Catsrule - I encourage you to look at my motivational quote regarding discipline as a possible source of inspiration. Glad that you have your hubby to participate with you in this WOE. Mine does a little so-so and via eating what I prepare. If you like to have your coffee sweetened, like I do, I suggest that you try the Splenda packets. They aren't bitter like the pink stuff and don't leave an after taste like the blue can. Welcome Back!
Is there anyone else who is a Survivor Nut? I guess that's all for now. Tired after an early morning and a stressful day.
Peace,
Frog

Hi, newbie to this board. Just ordered Sugar Busters today and bid on Sugar Bust on ebay.
My question is that I have noticed that people do eat sweet potatoes on this WOE. Why is that. I thought they would be as bad as white potatoes. I really like sweet potatoes, though rarely eat them. How much can you have? I think I read you could have a half of cup and they should be boiled, not baked?
I have so many questions about this way of eating and can't wait for my books to come. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Hi Everyone :D
Here is my moitvational thought for the day:
" The secret of success resides in your daily routine."
Today, I was thrown out of my routine and had a Whopper Jr. w/cheese and mozzarella sticks! I couldn't believe I did that! It has been 13 months since I ate something so bad for me :( So my key here is that as much as you can stay in a routine the better. And when you fall off the wagon (like I did) get right back into the normal routine!
Hi to all the newbies. I usually try to respond to as many people as I can but the last couple of weeks have been brutal for me at work. Tomorrow I have a BIG meeting that I am responsible for and everyone from our Regional office and throughout the state will be there. So I have to run but know I am thinking about everyone.
Deb: Thanks for starting the walking board. Our power went out on top of everything else and I couldn't get on the computer this morning...boy my hair looked awful all day without a blow dryer! It's back on now thank goodness.

RIZZI--What town do you live in? We Fla gals want to know if you are close to us.
Well, I lost 3/4 lb. last week. I was very happy about that. I hope I will keep up an average of a lb. a week.
Catsrule--Welcome back. Actually, I love your handle. I have 2 cats one who is very independent and lets up pet her sometime. The other is a big baby and meows to come in and get petted. He meows if we don't sit down so he can jump on our lap and pet him the instant he wants it. A pitiful baby!
Hope you have success now that you've hopped on the SB bandwagon again.

hi all!
tried to be sooo good today and a buddy brought over pizza. will try again tomorrow. this is hard work, but i KNOW i've got to JUST DO IT!
so...here is my quote for all of us that sneaked a nibble during the super bowl:
"Tis a lesson you should heed:
Try, try, try again.
If at first you don't succeed,
Try, try, try again.”
--W.E. Hickson, Try and Try again
Deb…I love the motivational messages you post! Who is Ralph Marston? He is very wise!
I need to go plan some lunch for tomorrow. Ya’ll have a fabulous week! I’m not as busy this week so I hope I can keep up with you all better…it helps keep me going in the right direction!

OH man! All I can say is that I'm hanging in here! I haven't been posting, but HAVE been reading. Things have been crazy around here and are about to get crazier! We just found out that we are moving to BOSTON for 6 months! DH is being transferred there to learn some sort of programming stuff and then we will return to New Mexico, where he will provide training for others. He has to be there by Feb. 12, and we will follow a week or so later. Time is gonna fly! I'm kinda excited to see the East coast. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif Never been there, and as a homeschooling mom, I see a never-ending opportunity to teach history! Anyone from the Boston area, or visited there? I think it's gonna be cool to go there FAT, and come back SLENDER! THAT is my goal!!

Hello to everyone! My name is Debi. I've been on SB since 9/2/00. I have lost 55 lbs. I want to lose an additional 145. I've come here for positive feedback and support. I like what I have read. Losing weight is not an easy path; but we can all pick up rocks and sticks along the way to make things smoother.
I don't have a quote to share with you, but just wanted to say hello and keep up the good work!

GOOD TUESDAY MORNING EVERYONE! :D
Have only a minute to say good morning, have to get dressed and take Michael to school in 5 minutes. Just wanted to pop in for a minute as I didn't get my intended nightly post in last night-out like a light on the couch after EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND, I sure was pooped!
Anyhow, it's TUESDAY TIPS so if you have any good tips that you think would be useful in helping us reach our goals, please post it today. I'll add something later :)
Gotta run, will come home and walk and then be able to respond to everyone http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif
Have a wonderful day!!!

Thank you all for the wonderful welcome. I appreciate it!! In Minesota we are covered with ice and snow this am. My hubby is clearing the driveway for me as we speak. He will not be working today as he was meeting some clients two hours away and that would be foolish to say the least. I only work 5 miles from home so I will four wheel drive my way there today!!!
My tip for the day is about grilling steak. I love the Canadian Steak Seasoning I can get from my local Sam's Club. I grill twice as much steak as I need for a meal. Then I slice the remaining steak, serve it on romaine lettuce with grape tomatoes and blue cheese crumbles. Top with a legal dressing and you will love this as a change from good old grilled chicken salads. Even in Minnesota I grill all year round!!!
Another treat just for me is a latte with skim milk and any type of Davinci's sugar free syrups, now made with splenda. I have a latte machine at home. I drive to work with one of these every morning. My hubby bought me the machine one year and said we would be money ahead if I used it instead of stopping everyday at Starbucks.
I am having trouble getting into a regular exercise program again. However I am ripping wallpaper off of six rooms in my house so I am moving around.
Take care everyone!!
Donna

Morining everyone  i just wrote a whole post almost finished and lost it!!!GRRR!! Don't ya hate that?
Here is my revised version!
I feel like i stayed the same this week-Having some hormone thing-not as bad as u all seem to have it. My new goal was not to lose it during that TOM and not to gain! I hope i can do that!
Deb-hope your foot feels better. I have not had time to email you. You are right about a seperate board for menues I think that a board for products would be great!
Beach- I always say that when you fall off the wagong get back on before you get run over! Sound like you did. I am getting worried about getting to goal myself-that being "cured" thing i guess i feel like i am going to go nuts. I know i will end up smacking myself in the head and getting back with it!!!! You can do it!!! Good luck with the meeting :D
Frog- I crack up at the "fur child" thing everytime i read it! Keep up the great work with the excersise! I think i am going to forget about shrinking and i am thinking summer!! Little kaki shorts!??
catsrule-Good Luck you can do it!!!!!
sasahm- I live in Mass!!!!!!! Not in Boston, but the same state!! Good luck with the move! What great motivation to lose this wieght!!!! I know you will do it! make sure your taking some before pictures to show people and remind them who you where! LOL :D If you never had four seasons you will love it!!! Right no i don't Love the snow but for "newbies" its fun!
Hi to all the newbies!!!! We are here to help-Just ask your questions no question is stupid!!!! sometime when we read something we don't all get it the same way! I actually think this WOE (way of eating) is easy and you will be shocked that you don't crave carbs, and the sugar will be a thing of the past!!!!! I had alot more to say but forgot! talk to you all soon!

Good morning, Happy Tuesday!!!
So nice to see new faces!!! Welcome!!!
Deb... congratulations to Michael on his midterms!!
Frog... I love your motivational quote today. Changing your WOE can be so difficult at times.... it's so easy to lapse back into the same routine and it's my goal to make this WOE that same ole routine. But it does take discipline.
Ebabe... Sweet potatoes are legal in moderation.... once a week or so.... my family loves them just boiled and mashed with butter and salt/pepper. In fact, my teenage son is requesting them.
Beachfan.... so sorry the whopper enticed you and won! But I know you're back in control!!!!
Missgrace..... an addition to your "try try again" quote could also be "read the directions".... i.e. when you "fail" read the Sugarbusters book again for encouragement and direction!!
Sara.... what fun! Six months in Boston to explore a new city (exercise!) and to come back home a skinny minnie!!! You can share the time with us... I'll look forward to your adventures!!!
Kapola.... you are definitely in the right place for support and encouragement!!
Deb... I was pooped last night too. Fortunately we have Satellite so I got to watch Raymond, but was in bed not long after that (by 7 p.m.).
I goofed this weekend! I bought a loaf of bread from Safeway, marked "sour dough" but it was NOT a true sour dough. I made garlic bread, and ate more than I should have (one piece was more than I should have)..... I had a headache yesterday, and was VERY TIRED.... I also gained a pound. I will NOT be doing that again!!!
I'm off to find something for breakfast and pack my lunch for the day.
Have a truly healthy joyful day!!!!
Hugs,
Connie

good morning all! I've been reading the site for a few days and finally decided to post. I have been doing SB off and on for over a year. Yes, the "off" part means I gain the weight back. But I really do believe in this woe. After his heart attack (at 52 and 250+ lbs), my dad's dr prescribed SB as the best way to lose weight. So far, he's lost 20 lbs in 3 months and wants to lose another 20-30. Also, all of his cholesterol, Bp, etc. numbers were "excellent" In heart patients, the "good" cholesterol is what matters and dad had excellent numbers there, too. So, with my dad to guide me (when I thought I was the one who was the good example) I'm trying to start SB again. I have about 20 lbs to lose and then I'll reevaluate my goal. I'll post my bio on the other thread. Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Mornin' Again! :D
Got my 4.5 miles in, foot hurt a bit, but once I get going I didn't feel it too much. I'm hoping it's nothing, but it feels like a dull pain, as it did for a few years after I broke it (what a story, a very overweight 7mo pregnant me with a cast on her leg when I was pregnant with Michael-broke my foot in Mexico  ) Anyhow, I actually made an appointment for the regular Dr. for this Thursday - can you believe it, me, going to the Dr.?!?! Next stop GYN, need to call there today and schedule an appt and a boobie smashing - over 1 1/2 years since I was suppose to go and the time just keeps going by me.
I have a ton of things to do today, but of course, board is the first priority on my list today :)
NEWBIES if you haven't visited our BIO BOARD yet, please do. We'd love for you to post your bio so we can learn more about you, and vice-versa. The link is below, just click on it:
http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//Forum55/HTML/000082.html
CATHY, WELCOME TO THE BOARD! Glad you have decided to join us. You're sure to find a load of support and friendship among the gals that are a vital part of this board. As others have said, please let us know how we can help you. You have picked a very healthy WOE to follow and we'll be happy to help you follow it and reach your goal. Don't hesitate to ask us any questions.
FROG, loved those motivational quotes, esp. the second one. LOL! Thanks for pointing out my little typo there. Nope, it's a pain in my foot, you get pain when you eat my food!! " http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif It's on the right side of my right food, like I said before, I broke it 15yrs ago, a Jones fracture is what I remember it being called. I am really proud of Michael, actually both kids, but Michael really is something else. I know this kid will go far in his future - I'll start praying soon for scholarships even though he's just a Freshman, have to start praying early!!!
EBABE, WELCOME TO THE BOARD! :D I'm sure you will find all the support and friendship you could hope for on this board. Sweet potatoes, as mentioned, are fine. I rarely make them at home, but when I go out for dinner, quite a few places, like Outback, have them in place of white potatoes, so I order them plain. I usually eat 1/2 of a fair sized one, give or take a bit. I don't remember seeing anywhere that there is a limit on how much you can eat a week, but I would say you need to watch your serving size, so maybe a small one, or 1/2 a large one would be a serving, keeping in mind you should limit startchy carbs to 2-3 servings a day. One thing that is nice about SB is that you can modify it to fit you. If you don't have any problems with SP go ahead and eat them in moderation as you like, but if you see that it's having an effect on your losses, cut back or cut them out-each of us is so different and we react to foods differently ie, we aren't suppose to eat bananas, yet BEACHFAN has made goal while eating bananas. Don't hesitate to ask us any questions until your books arrive, and even then, you're bound to have some questions-this is truly a learning experience, and 10 months later, I'm still learning!!!
BEACH, great quote, and oh so true! Sorry to hear things are so hectic lately. Anna, I wouldn't worry so much about that one meal you ate, it won't make a difference in staying at goal, just maybe how you felt after eating it. Those mozz. sticks sound yummy! I thought about making some SB legal jalapeno poppers and mozz sticks long ago, now you just gave me the idea again. I had wondered what happened to you with the board, sorry to hear you had no electricity, I'm sure JOY can relate to your bad hair day real easily-I know I can! 10 days without electricity (after hurricane Andrew) is really the pits, esp, when that was the time in my life I would blow dry my hair straight!
GATORGAL, congrats on the 3/4lb loss -what's the total lost now???
MISSGRACE, cute saying-one we should all remember! Sorry to hear about the attack of the pizza, hope today is better. Isn't Marston great, just a man with wonderful insight! I love his writings!!!!
AMSER (hope you don't mind me shortening it), WELCOME TO THE BOARD TOO As I've said to all newbies, I'm sure you will be happy in your decision to join the board-great bunch of gals here to help you along the way. You are doing well on SB, don't let a mini stall worry you, it happens, esp. at the beginning as your body adjusts to this WOE. On past diets when I stalled I'd throw in the towel, real quick, but since on SB, I just wait out these stalls and the loss comes! Savannah, such a pretty part of GA!
SAS, wow, that's a big move for 6 months, but I think you will love Boston, so much history there. I've been there once and liked it very much. I liked going to Fenual Hall (I know I'm spelling this wrong), and couldn't believe FILENE'S-geez, the women get undressed right in the middle of the aisles-needless to say, I never tried a thing on in the basement! Being so close to the other states will be fun, everything is so close of a drive, nothing like FL where it takes me almost 7 hours to get out of the state! RHROO lives in MA - maybe you two can meet one day!!!
KAPOLA, A WARM WELCOME TO YOU TO THE BOARD You are doing wonderfully on SB! You've lost the same as I in 1/2 the time-very impressed!!!! Thanks for posting your bio on the BIO BOARD. You definitely came to the right board for support and encouragment!!!
DONNA, so it's a wee bit cold up your way today I see - wish I could send you a bit of our 75 degree weather from the Sunshine State. Your steak and salad combo sounds delish - I love good chunky bleu cheese! I've never tried the Davinci syrups, though I've seen them. Your hubby is right about saving money with the coffe, though I thank G-d that there are those who go to Starbucks-otherwise, poor Eli (my OH) would be without a job :D It's ridiculous to say the least what they charge for coffee, not to mention their pastries. We have Starbucks coffee coming out of the wazoo in our house and I don't even drink it, nor does Eli when he comes home, he gets enough tastings at work - we are generous at giving it away! Ripping wallpaper is a great exercise, but that doesn't last - so what exercise do you think you'd find that you could do and enjoy?
RHROO, that happens to me a lot, losing posts. I've gotten better since I started writing my posts in an e-mail and then coping it into the post. Like I said to SAS, maybe you 2 can meet one day while she's in MA!!!
BIGORANGE, what's with this hot weather! Not that I liked the really cold weather, but something cool is better than this! Any idea what the weather is suppose to be like this weekend???? I didn't see the shrimp on sale at Publix, but did find the sourdough bread. I placed it back on the shelf twice before I decided to get it, it has hydrogentated soybean oil in it, yuck - bought it anyhow and stuck it in the freezer.
JOY, thanks for Michaels congrats. Smart kid, takes after my side of the family! I love ELR, he is too funny!! Don't worry about the pound, I'm sure it's hormones, a couple slices of bread can't do that to you, at least I hope it can't. I'd love to try to make sourdough bread, don't quite understand this starter stuff though, only made bread once in my life and it was a long, long time ago!!!
BELINDA, anothe warm WELCOME TO THE BOARD message for you as well. As I've said, you'll surely find lots of support and encouragment on this board. It amazes me that so many doctors are smart enough to recommend this WOE to their patients, yet these idiots that keep writing stories about how SB is one of these FAD DIETS obviously don't have a clue of how good this WOE is - they need to ask a smart Dr. I do believe. You know this WOE works from your past experiences, now you just have to get into the groove of working for those 20lbs. You can do it, you know that-and we're happy to help you achieve your goal!!!!
RIZZI, please e-mail me if you see this message. Want to touch base with you and help you post on the board more effectively. Also, we are wondering where in FL you are from.
Okay gals, I am out of here and into the shower. I will have to post my TUESDAY TIP later, it's getting late and I have a ton of stuff to do before 2:30 rolls around to get Michael.
PLEASE REMEMBER, TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!! Newbies, we post our WIW reports tomorrow, but you can do so at any time. Also, if you'd like, you can also post your numbers below your name, this gives us all an idea of where you started, where you are, and where you are hoping to go!!!
Toodles!

Why did that old board appear?> It totally confused me, and I realized halfway thru it that "hmmm all this sounds so familiar"

GOOD TUESDAY MORNING GANG!!!!!!! :D
Just wanted to pop in and say hi. Just read the latest replies since last night. Since I am so new everyone, bear with me until I get familar with the names etc... I don't want anyone to feel I overlook a certain individual or what they have said!!!!!
Well it's been a rainy night in Georgia..... some this morning too, but that's ok. At least it's not freezing - yippee :)
Ummmmmm....Big Orange, Dawgs are ok. I am not really much into collegiate sports. Now ... GOOO BRAVESSSSSSS !!!!!!! LOL
Thanks all for the warm welcomes.
Superchick, Deb... and all, for that matter, please call me Ann. Yes, Deb, Savannah is filled with so much history, beauty, personality and charm. I plan to wait out those slumps, but keep up all the encouragement. I did check scale this morning, and my slump may be over for now--HOORAY!!!
I know it's tip day, so let's see if this is of use. No more apple pie a la mode, BUT, this is close enough. Slice up apple, place in sautee pan with dab of butter, some splenda, and cinamon. When apples are softened, pour over some delicious SB vanilla ice cream - YUM, YUMMMMMM
Well, I should do some domestic engineering. I shall return, friends.

Hello, I am new to this board and WOE, actually I will start tomorrow and grocery shop today for SB. I have the book, and also SugarBust for Life but am at a loss for what to eat for weight loss. In my lurking days I noticed the sample menus in SB are actually maintenence suggestions... so are there any model menus for weight loss. Can I impose on anyone to list some sample menus? I am so excited about this new WOE and "losin" weight. My current stats are 214/199/125 whew that was hard to write. Well, cheers to all and I'll make sure I'm here everyday. thanks. By the way I used to live in Florida and recently located to eastern Pennsylvania and it's cooooooooold here. Take care and be well. PS how does a chicklet become a chick? Hope it's easier than losin weight :)

Hi, I'm new to this Board.
Started S.B. after regaining 20 lbs. of a 30 lbs. loss w/ Weight Watchers. I like that program but it always seemed like such a struggle. Happy to say that I've lost 5 of those lbs. and looking forward to losing MORE.
Curious about different peoples experience w/ the time frame that it took to loss weight. I've been following the program but after the initial loss I've been stick at the same weight for 10 days. Not near as hungry, though... Any others have slow starts?
Also, any thoughts the "Potatoes not Prozac" book?
Thanks,
Jan

Hi! am off to walk tucker but thought i'd check in first!
SERIPHIM: i love savannah! i go there fairly often, i have a hum...guy friend? not sure how to define us, but anyway, a good friend there. i lived in Bluffton/Hilton Head (a youth minister @ an episcopal church) for a couple of years and always love to go to Vinnie Van Go-Gos in market square!!!!!
anyway welcome to the board!
BIGORANGE: thanks for green tea info! i'll try that one...can you get it anywhere?
No great tips today, but that Phil guy was on Oprah talking about why people are overweight...was intesting to hear and think about. I need to do some soul searching on why it is so hard for me. My doc even asked if i really wanted to lose my weight! so...off to walk and ponder!
hope everyone has a great afternoon!

Hi Gals!
Guess what? That little sore throat turned out to be strep. I've been in the bed for three days. Had a temp of over 101 all day yesterday. Finally got to the dr and loaded up on medicine. I'm feeling better, but still not anywhere near 100%. I can't believe all the new people since just over the weekend. How great!!!! I have a huge list of replies and welcomes, but frankly, I'm worn out from catching up on all the posts. I'll try again later tonight or maybe in the morning. I think there is one good thing that will come from this icky-ness. I've had NO appetite and hopefully will have a great WIW tomorrow. Plus DH says my voice is super sexy. Hmmm . . . got that FM dj thing going. Talk to you soon.

Evening Everyone
Have a little time to post before Eli gets home and before I throw something on the table and call it dinner.
Feeling a bit sick tonight, hormones, I don't mind though, not only am I use to it, but I usually have a loss the day after, so if that happens, I'll be sick and happy http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif
I went to the Vitamin Store and bought these vitamins for women. They look more like vitamins for a horse! Geez, they sure do make your urine look like Mountain Dew.
I keep forgetting...the MENU IDEAS BOARD was unanimously approved, as well as the idea to list SB LEGAL FOODS I think we can incorporate both of these into one board. There was some confusion about the FRIDAY FITNESS BOARD being archived. I am going to e-mail everyone to explain. If you are NOT listed on the BIO BOARD, or you are listed, but have never posted on our regular weekly board, I won't be able to send you an e-mail for your opinions.
BIGORANGE, that old board came up because one of the newbies posted on there by mistake. I am going to close the board so there won't be any mixups. I guess this will be one of my first moderator things I can do.
AMSER, it was nice chatting with you for a few minutes. I guess we both need to schedule a mammogram-I guess we'll both have a smashing good time!! Thanks for that apple tip, sounds yummy. Since I started SB I've been eating a lot of apples, whereas before, once in a while.
FINALLYLOSIN, WELCOME TO THE BOARD! Hmm, what can we shorten your name down to that's catchy?? How 'bout "losin?" We just took a vote this past week about listing menu ideas as well as a shoppers guide of name brand items. From time to time we have gals post their daily intake on the board to see where they may need improvements. I also may have some sample menus in my files that I could send you, things people have sent me. You can e-mail me directly with your e-mail address, or post your BIO on the BIO BOARD and I can get your e-mail from there if you'd like. Really, there are no "special" foods you need to buy to follow this WOE, unless you consider WW pasta special-most things you can easily find at the regular grocery stores. Check out the BIO BOARD for other gals that live in PA, maybe someone is near you :) Please feel free to ask any questions, we'll be happy to help!!! LOL! A chicklet becomes a chick once they've posted a bit over 30 times - keep up with us and you'll be a chick before you know it!!!
JANCAN, A SB WELCOME TO YOU AS WELL! Glad you've decided to join us. Quite a few of the gals are doing SB and WW together. Going to WW meetings and using the points to make sure they get enough to eat, then coming to this board and following the SB recommended foods. Don't worry about being stuck for a little while, it happens to ALL of us. Patience is one of the keys on this WOE. Trust me, before I started SB, I was on WW (for the umpteenth time), and when I hit a plateau I just gave up and gained all 17lbs I lost plus another 20 or so pounds. Since starting SB a little over 10 months ago, I've come to learn that I will go up and down, and being that I don't cheat, I know it's not from anything bad I'm eating. I know it's due to many factors, but mostly, I blame everything on hormones. The weight WILL come off :) Sorry, I haven't read the Prozac book, so I can't comment on it.
GRACE, sorry I missed the Oprah show, would of liked to see that one. What were his ideas on why people gain weight?
QUILTER, ugh, strep! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sick.gif No wonder you were feeling so bad! I'm glad you are doing better. I too hope WIW is good for you tomorrow, at least something good would come out of being sick! Oh, that and that according to DH you have a sexy voice!! LOL!!!
Here is ELLIE'S post that got onto the other board by mistake, so I have just copied it over to this one for her:
*****
Hello girls! Just been lurking lately...
Made it through the weekend of birthday parties and superbowl parties, and narry a grain of sugar passed my lips. Somehow, if I just don't focus on it, and it remains blurry, like in the background (mentally) it's easier to resist. Last night while my husband and kids were having chocolate and cookies for dessert, I must admit I got a little pouty. I made myself some hot cocoa with milk, cocoa powder (unsweetened) and a squirt of sugar-free maple syrup and it was great. got me through.
would you believe I've lost 15 lbs so far, and no-one has noticed? not even my husband. I'm going to remain low-key about it, as I"m tired of tooting my horn, and then not following through, but I do find it a little odd. Maybe 20 lbs is the point where people start to notice?
Well, I tried making the chocolate roll for the super bowl party. All I can say is, thank goodness I had a backup plan. It was horrendous. I took a regular recipe and just substituted ww flour for regular and splenda for sugar. Uh uh. Of course, I saved the chocolate disaster, and am eating it myself as a little treat (in very small increments) sort of like a chocolate biscotti. God forbid I should throw out any food, no matter how horrific it is. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//dizzy.gif
****
ELLIE, sorry to hear about the chocolate cake disaster, it happened to me when I tried to make chocolate meringues, we ended up with a very thing chocolate cake - it was delcious though. I'm sure before you know it, all of a sudden, people will notice your loss. Not many people notice mine as I still am wearing clothes that I wore when I started SB, no one can tell.
I'll get on later this evening and post my little TUESDAY TIP. Michael is hungry, so I have to scrounge something up for him before he starts eating the wood!
Another reminder (like I'd let you all forget), TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY! I hope the scales are kind to everyone!!!
Later!

Hello everyone-
I've been reading for the past couple days, just not posting. Seems like I am so busy all of a sudden!!
I have to share this...my DH made the most delicious 100% SB legal dinner tonight. He broiled scrod with a bit of butter and garlic, steamed asparagus, and stuffed (ww breadcrumbs, sausage-ground very fine, parsley, onions, parm. cheese) mushrooms. It was all so wonderful and I was so proud of him for making a dinner with SB in mind :)
Can't reply to everyone tonight but I do want to say HELLO to the new members of our board. I know you'll find this group of ppl a great source of consistency and inspiration. I do.
ELLIE...15 pounds is such a wonderful accomplishment. Not eating anything with sugar over the superbowl weekend is also something to be proud of. You are doing great!!
Quilter...sorry to hear you're sick. My DH was sick, my friend has pneumonia!!! and of course my first graders are sneezing and coughing all over the place!! I am washing my hands a lot and hoping to stay healthy. Hope you're back on your feet soon.
FINALLY LOSIN...I am also in NE PA. WHere are you? I'm in the Poconos. Yes it is cold and miserable today with the rain. I'm so glad the days are starting to get longer. Makes a BIG difference.
DEB..hope you feel better!!
EVERYONE ELSE...good luck on WIW. See you tomorrow.

Good evening all!
I just wanted to thank you for your welcoming words. I tried so hard to be good today - oatmeal for breakfast, grapefruit juice for midmorning snack THEN I was going to have tuna for lunch BUT... I remembered I needed to go to these lunches w/ speakers - law school has free lunches all the time but the ones this week I get credit for. So I went, thinking I could find a sandwich w/ WW bread, which they usually have. What did they have, you ask? KFC Lunch Boxes with fried chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, cole slaw and biscuit. I opened them up and told my friend that the only thing I could *possibly* eat was the cole slaw and even then it's doubtful. It didn't even taste that good - except for the biscuit. :) I was going to have to be at the lunch for 1 1/2 hr and then I had class so NO time to eat... But... I got all my water in today - 120 oz to flush out nasty KFC and then when I got home tonight DH had stopped at the store, bought little dark chocolate Dove hearts and put them in a little trail around our living room ending in a heart. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//love.gif How can you mind illegal chocolate when he gives it to you that way??? I'm going to be good tomorrow and eat lunch BEFORE I go hear the speaker. :) Thanks again everyone!
P.S. I decided to put the scale up this morning and concentrate on clothes. Yikes! Let's see how long this lasts!

Good Night Everyone.
I've barely kept my head above water today at work; the paper work is drowning me. So I have spent the last 4 hours here typing away and am too pooped to respond. I found myself wanting to "self-medicate" my anxiety today with food and the stress of it all has me constipated  or as we say at our crazy-mixed-up house: "packing dooky!" http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif
I promise to make an attempt at a real post tomorrow. I gotta go to bed, tomorrow is a running morning which means revelie (ala "army style") at 5:00 sharp. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sleep.gif
Good Luck with WIW!
Peace,

Hi ya'll, just a quick hello before I go off to bed. Long day here, woke up with a sore throat. Had to baby-sit grandson after work & then DH wanted me to attend some meeting with him. Managed to stay awake, I think ;)
Anyway, want to say welcome to all you new gals. Didn't have time to read the board, just scanned & saw new names. Will try to catch up tomorrow.
Deb, ice cream pie came out pretty good. DH liked it, but need to work with it a little before I post the receipe.

Big Orange--Tenn. and the Gators are on ESPN right now. It is awesome! The ENTIRE lower bowl, both students and alums are decked out in orange t-shirts for the right side and blue t-shirts for the left. You can't miss it! Hope you get to see part of the game. Just a little flavor of why I'm such a fan. It's so much fun! BTW the game is good and exciting.
Played tennis tonight. I just started playing last week after 9 months off because of my hand injury. It was really fun, and I'm still amazed at how well I played. The weather has gotten warmer here, up in the 70's today. So I think my body was nice and warmed up and that made it easy. It is always fun to play well.
Struggled a little with eating today. Was working at the crisis preg. center and I was so busy with clients that I didn't get a chance to eat until I was starving. And that got me a little discombobulated for the rest of the day. Never felt like I was satisfied. Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

Thought I would say hi and say how much I am enjoying this group! I was outbid on the Sugar Bust book on ebay, but I found one for $4.00 cheaper on half.com, so I am glad I got outbid. I am feeling so much better from being off of sugar. I have been having heart palpitations for about three weeks, driving me nuts. I have noticed that since I have quit sugar and sugared products, they have gone away, what's that about?
SAS: I live in the Four Hills area. How bout all this snow we are having, pretty neat if you don't have to get out in it. I just love looking at the mountains and the hills behind us it is so beautiful, especially at night when the moon in shining down on the snow.
Well, I am so excited about my two books coming, can't wait to start reading them and really understanding this WOE.

Hello everyone!
QUILTER don't worry, eventually your weight loss will be noticed. Nobody noticed mine until 45 lbs.!
BIGORANGE I love your spunkiness, girl!
SUPERCHICK Thanx for your messages; they keep me going. I went to TOPS tonight. I was a member in the 70's. I really enjoyed myself tonight. I'm going to join next week. The accountability will do me good!
I can't remember all your names, but I enjoy your stories/comments.
I found Sesame Ezekiel bread. It's 2.79 in Portland, Oregon.
I'm off to walk on the treadmill. It's late and I need my rest (I do lots of overtime at work-accountant for BlueCross BlueShield).
Others can slow your progress, but you're the only one who can stop it.

OH, JUST ANOTHER NOTE.....
I gained five pounds since last week. I really am trying! Oh well, one day at a time.
Anyway, I just tried on my wedding dress. I was married July 1999, at size 30/32. I now wear size 20/22. Boy, did that thing just slide off my shoulders! The hips are the next to go...
I just have to keep myself positive; and not drown my sorrow/frustration in food.
Thanx for listening. Debi (kapola)

ELLIE: 15 pounds is FANTASTIC!! I've lost 12-13 lbs, and no one has noticed either, but that's OK, because I HAVE!! Before you know it, people are going to be saying "Gee, somethings different about you..." and "WOW, You look GREAT!"
OVERCOME: Those stuffed mushrooms sound yummy! I've had a hankerin' for stuffed mushrooms.
RHROO: We are going to be in the Bedford area, I think...Intel has bought a company there called Sheba and my husband will be flying out there this weekend to "shake hands" with the leadership there and find us a place to live. Corporate housing, furnished so that we don't have to haul our whole life out there for a temporary deal. Where will you be in conjunction w/ Bedford? Do you know anything about the area? I'll be out there before the end of February...this is happening so fast!
DEB: I have been doing the Fitday thing as well, and also need to supplement w/ a multi-vitamin. Got any good suggestions...other than a Mountain Dew?
BELINDA: What a man!!
EBABE: Yes, this snow is definitely something! I, too was admiring the beauty of the snow. South Mountain (I think that's what it is) is practically in our front yard, and is so pretty with the snow on it.
As you have probably read, we are heading to the Boston area in the next few weeks, but will be returning in 3-6 months. Maybe we can get together when we get back! :)
KAPOLA: Don't get down on yourself. You are going to do great! WOW, just look what you have already accomplished! I wish MY wedding dress would slide off my shoulders like that! I know it will, and one day sooner than I think!
Well, I need to get off this thing and get some rest! Let's all be LOSERS tomorrow!!

I am off to work and won't be back until late tonight. You all look like you are going so well. I had a reality check when I got home and watched my tuesday taping of Dr. Phil on Oprah. I ususally tape him as I do like what he has to say. Thgis show was on overweight and next tuesday's show will be as well. He views being overweight as a disease of choice and everytime we make a poor choice we contribute to being overweight. It was good. Did any one else catch it. I use AOL as my internet provider and when I logged on today they had a review of Sugarbusters. The ph.d. dietician gave it a high review. I hope some of you could see that.
Have a good day everyone!!!

Hope you don't find the pounds I've lost.

Happy Weigh In Wednesday :D
Hope everyone has a good day and the goddess of the scales is kind to you :)
WELCOME TO THE NEWBIES...I'm an oldie that hasn't had time to post alot lately but I am still here! Someone asked how fast you lose weight on SB. I can only tell you my experience: I've been on SB for 13 months and lost 84 pounds. I averaged 5-6 pounds per MONTH but that was not always every week. A lot of the times I could go 3-4 weeks and not see a drop and then bam...I would drop 4-5 pounds. So it is hard to predict but if you hang in there it works and is effective. Deb put some great info on the tips and tools board about what to do if you plateau...Just remember that slow and steady weight loss is the KEY to successfully losing and keeping the weight off.
Well guys, I dropped another pound in spite of my "Whopper" fiasco. Probably because I felt so guilty that I lowered my food intake considerably the last 24 hours!!
See ya'll later.

Good Wednesday Morning Everyone! :D
I have a few minutes to start this until I take Michael to school. I have a full day out shopping with my sister today, trying to help her find a dress for the Bar Mitzvah - still haven't found Lauren one, and now I find out Michael's suit doesn't fit, so have to get on the ball with that as well.
It's WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY and here I thought I'd have a loss after getting sick, NOT! Well, hmmm, I don't know if you'd consider I lost or not. My lowest weight was 139, but then I went up last week, I was 141.50, today 139.5, so did I lose or did I not???? I'm down 2lbs from last WIW yet I'm still up a half-pound from my lowest!
Did anyone who has AOL see the SB DIET on the welcome screen?? Haven't been able to check what they are saying out, but you can bet I will!!!
BIGORANGE, thanks for all past Starbucks support, see when you give support it is greatly rewarded by being brough some FREE COFFEE!! LOL! Honestly, before Eli started to work there, not once had I even thought about walking into a Starbucks, and since he started with them I've not once had a drink or treat from there - of course, he started there after I started SB, but still, too cheap to pay their prices!!
OVERCOME, dinner that your hubby makes sounded yummy. It's nice that he knows how to cook. Eli loves to cook, and oh how lucky I feel!!!!
BELINDA, hope things go better for you today. Try planning to take things you could eat instead of what is given if this is the type of foods they provide at the lunches, ech! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sick.gif Hubby sounds sweet, but tell him you are really trying to follow this WOE, and if he could hold off on the chocolates, or at least find some SB legal chocolate, maybe he can make a heart shape from the little squares. It's tough when you want to follow this WOE and there are obstacles, not impossible, but you have to try your best to aviod temptations that aren't in your best interest-BEACH has been successful in reaching goal and eating some fast food, so it's not impossible, not suggested though, and it's not everyday. Do your best and I'm sure you'll do fine!!! :D I tried to hide my scale once, it's like going through sugar detox all over again - good luck!
FROG, you sound busy, busy! Post when you can :) LOL! Packing dooky??!!!??? LOL!!!
MEL, hope you are feeling better now. Seems a lot of people are getting sick. Eli & Michael are complaining of sore throats, I hope that that's the extent of it!
GATOR, please let me know what the weather is forecasted to be up there this weekend. Gosh, I hope it's not warm!!!!!!!!
EBABE, I buy more things on half.com than on Ebay. Actually, I actively sold on Ebay for about 2 years, took over a year off and really need to get back selling, desperately need the $$$$. You can find some great old books on both, I've bought lots of cookbooks lately. Get off sugars and you do feel better. It causes so many problems. Check out the RECOMMENDED READING BOARD and some of the articles!
KAPOLA, there are a few gals that go to TOPS, and I think like WW meetings, it's good for support. That's fabulous about the wedding dress!!
SAS, they opened a VITAMIN SHOPPE near me and I got the ones called ESPECIALLY FOR WOMEN. Seemed to have all I needed in it, now I just have to get into the habit of taking them!
DONNA & BEACH, will reply to you and everyone else later when I come home - I'm running late!!!
Well gals, I need to go get ready - Hope you all have a wonderful day, and I hope the scales are good to you all!!

Hello Everyone!
I'm a newbie to this board and SB - I did post my extremely fascinating bio as well as a request for y'all to review my intake and let me know if I'm doing anything wrong, or can do anything better.
I would really appreciate your help! I guess some would say I don't have "a lot" to lose, but I HATE this extra baggage and do not feel good about myself like this - like it's not really me! This is Day 3, and I have to say, I have not had my usual sweet cravings, etc.
I have found, in all my Ww yoyo=ing, that it's good for me to have a short term goal as motivation - we're going to Disney with the kids (cannot wait - I LOVE Disney and it's been 5 years since our last trip with the kids, have been compulsively planning for months! :) :) )as well as a family function at the end of March. Any downward activity on the scale over the next two months would be wonderful.
Forgive me for not addressing each of you by name, I need some time to get to know all of you http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif
But - Ebabe - I was an Ebay junkie for awhile too. Started selling some stuff a while ago and then just got overwhelmed. But I did order my SB and Somers books on half.com - I always forget about that site!
Sasahm - I live in Northern CT adn we visit Boston regularly with the kids, and I've been there on biz when I had a real career. I've also got a very good friend who's from there and is very knowledgeable about the area - if you want to email me (check my bio) I'd be happy to answer questions or hook you up with her. Boston is a great great great city - much more manageable than NYC, where I'm from. You'll really enjoy your time there.
Off to eat my oatmeal now (yes, Debbie, the REAL kind, LOL!). I'll be checking this board frequently!

Confession time http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//nervous.gif I am having a hard time posting what I weigh right now. I will tell you this much, I have over 100 pounds to lose, that right there is hard to post. I just did'nt want you guys to think I was holding out (guess I am). I am just not ready for anyone else to see the numbers, it is hard enough for me to know! I did lose three pounds this week, but that does not make me feel very good because last year through WeightWatchers, I had lost 23 pounds and sad to say, gained it all back once I stopped counting points. (I think WW is a good plan, just not for me.) So for a while until I can get confortable with posting my weight, I will at least tell you my losses or gains.
Thanks for understanding!
Debi
P.S. SASAHM - Would love to get together when you get back. Hopefully by then we both will have lost more weight.

Well, I continue to get stronger as each day passes. I cannot believe how this strep really laid me low. Thanks for all the well wishing. It helps to know there are people thinking about you. I now think I’m able to do some real communicating. Where to begin???
First of all, since it’s WIW . . . I lost FIVE POUNDS since last week. Yippee and Yeehaw! However, I realize that some of it may come back as my appetite returns. But for now I’m reveling in that slide of the scale. Don’t worry, JOY, I’ll post of the WIW board too.
I am so excited that there are so many new people joining the board. This is so great! Let’s see if I get everybody right?
Welcome KAPOLA! Congrats on the fantastic weight loss. You have really come a long way from where you started. I hope you don’t get down about this week’s gain. Remember, sometimes the scales are not the best way to measure your progress and it sounds like your wedding dress is telling you a lot. You are so right about this being a great spot for information and support. Hope we can help.
Welcome DONNA125! So glad you bumped into Deb and she pointed you in this direction. Can’t wait to read some of your recipes. BTW your steaks sound wonderful. I will look for the Canadian Steak Seasoning on my next visit to Sam’s. We do a lot of meat on salad type suppers. Using mainly chicken, but I’m always game to try something new. One of my best friends from college comes from Brainerd MN. Are you close to that?
Welcome AMSERAPHIM! We started SB on the exact same day. Hope you are doing well and liking the way you feel.
Hi VIV! Welcome to the board. I’m glad to see that you are already noticing a decrease in your cravings. I, too, felt the same thing during the first week. It’s definitely true. Lack of sugar in your system really affects you in a positive way. Keep up the good work. Haven’t had time to read your bio yet, but will find time later in the day.
CATHY H--We are glad you are here! You will get tons of advice. And everyone is so helpful at answering questions. Just feel free to let the board know where you are having problems or anything like that. My advice is to hang in there. If you had cravings, you should see them decline significantly. At least that’s what happened with my body. It’s amazing.
Hi EBABE! Glad to hear how excited you are about this program. Good luck. The SB book says that for weight loss you should not eat Sweet potatoes very often. So we limit them to once maybe twice a week. I also cut them into smaller pieces before baking them. That way a serving is much smaller.
SASAHM--Boston is wonderful!!!! I’ve traveled there many times for work and love it. Truly one of my favorite cities. They have a great Farmers Market on the weekends where you can get all sorts of fresh produce and seafood. Also you’ll want to check on the North End aka Little Italy. Oh, that part is so cool. They have unspeakably fantastic restaurants in that section. You know the kind where everybody working there is related and they argue but the food is so delicious. One time we took a drive up to Marble head and really enjoyed the beauty up there. Plus Quincy Market has a lot to offer, but that’s kind of the tourist place to go.
CATSRULE--Hey, you’re back. Good for you. It’s so hard to get back on track and you are showing us just how to do it. Stay in communication with the board. That will help.
BEACH--I must salute you for coming clean about the whopper. I would probably have not said anything and then been so guilty I’d have kept on eating and then finally days later would have had even more to confess. It’s good that you have a handle on what you are doing.
FROG--How great that your pants were too big. I know it’s got to be an inconvenience, but still that’s so much better than having them too tight. Also, I think I’ll watch Survivor this time around. Only watched the last episode to the first one and thought it was pretty interesting. There’s a guy on it who lives down in Crittendon, KY which is less than an hour from Cincy. We’re pulling for him to win, but I’m afraid he’s too nice and will get swallowed up by the competitive monster. Who knows??? What did you think of the first ousting?
OVERCOME--I know what you mean about washing your hands like crazy! I teach in an afterschool program for kids with reading problems and I’m always using the purell. I make them use it, too. They are truly “Germ Central.” Hope your hubby gets to feeling better.
RHROO--I loved what you said about the scales not being the only way to measure our progress. I firmly believe that. No one has talked about taking measurements while on this. I have done that in the past and put those in some secret place . . . so secret that I forget where I put them. Hmmmm. Sounds like an avoidance issue I’m dealing with. LOL!!!
We’re still looking for the GF Grill. I saw the one I want . . . I think it’s the one BEACH or FROG has. Sears was advertising it on tv the other day but our store didn’t carry that one. It looks big enough for six hamburgers which gives you enough room to do the veggies as well as whatever else you are grilling. Also, I saw the little one advertised on tv (being sick has given me way too much tv time!) and it now comes in all these groovy colors. Like the I-Mac computers with the cool plastic covers.
DEB--I say you lost. Any movement to the left on the dial should be a loss. Technically, I lost all this weight two years ago and am losing it again. (Man, I hate having to do it twice!) But I’m still counting it as a loss. I saw the Oprah yesterday and wished I had put a tape in. I thought it was really good. Dr. Phil is tough, but I really think he knows what he’s talking about as far as what it means to be human and what our behaviors are all about. Have you read his Life Strategies book? I have not, but think that may be a good exercise for me during this part of my getting healthy efforts. Also thought that Jennifer Holiday (did I get her name right?) is a huge inspiration to anyone trying to lose weight. Did I remember right that she said she lost over 200 inches? I meant to write that down but didn't and forgot. Wow! She looks like a totally different person.
Well, that's it for now. Hope everybody has a happy WIW. Take care everyone. I missed you all, glad I'm back among the losing!!

Hey all… Welcome all you new ladies as of this week! Although there are so many new faces on the board you all seem new! I will have to make some time to read all your bios.
Well, I have been doing really well. No cheats in days! That is actually really good for me since I have been cheating just a bit almost every day up until now. But I have figured out a way to deal with cheating. I am going to allow myself ONE day per month to eat whatever I want. To some of you it may seem self-defeating but I know myself, and if I try to look t it as “NEVER NEVER NEVER eat the bad/good stuff” I will fail. So I will allow myself one free day a month until I reach goal. Then I will reevaluate what I can and can not handle. My goal is to be at 130-125 by the end of April/mid-May. I know I can do it!
So big break through for me! I would respond to all your posts but unfortunately I have about 5 minutes to post. I work 6 AM – 9 PM almost every weekday. WHEW!
Okay, ladies, go bust some sugar!
Later,
Song

Hello all!
I fought the law and... I won! I went to the lunch today and they had sandwiches on white bread so I ran back and grabbed my tuna salad and WW crackers and enjoyed that. MUCH better!!! Yay! Also had grapefruit this am, 30 min before my oatmeal. I think I may get addicted to oatmeal! Everything in it is so good for you - your colon, your heart, your cholesterol, your waistline! :)
About the chocolate, I waited two hours after dinner and savored two pieces during NYPD Blue. The last time I lost on this woe, I learned that if I HAD to have a sweet, I treated it like fruit and had a *small* amount on an empty stomach. It helps me feel less deprived but also sets up rules that I should follow.
As for putting the scales up, DH noticed and asked me why. I told him it was so I wouldn't get on the scale so much and just listen to my body. He said, "why don't you just not get on the scale?" I don't think he gets it... :) Have a great one, everybody.

Hi. I'm new to this and will really need all the encouragement I can get. I'm not "officially" starting until Feb. 5. Just got the book and have to read it, clean out the fridge and cupboards of "bad" things and go to the store for the "good" things. I also will be starting back to work after a 2 week layoff, and think it will be easier when I am not home thinking about what I shouldn't have - COKE !! Can't stand the diet stuff. I hope I got my bio posted OK. I'm not real good with computer stuff and had to try twice.
This sound like a really neat place full of really neat people.

Well i am up 1 well deserved pound! :D I enjoyed my week last week and the scale told me so! I also have that "girl thing" so maybe that caused me to be up, but I KNOW i was not a good little SugarBuster-and this week is not looking much better! LOL I am trying though. Hormones are raging! Oh well :D and bear it right?
Deb-did ya go to the Dr yet? congrats for getting into the 130's again-you know your body and you know you'll probably stay there through the month!!! yeah!!
Belinda-Dark Dove chocolate is more legal than milk!!! Hope you had a fun night!
Melf-hope you feel better http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sick.gif
Gator-tennis sounds fun the weather was great here mid morning also close to 50 a heat wave!!! I walked for almost an hour! I didn't want to stop, but the real world got in the way!
sasahm-I live in central Mass close to the N.H border. I am about an hour from Boston. I know you will love the beaches and the mountains here!!! If you need anything let me know. I don't know much about the Boston area, but i do know there is lots to keep you busy! YOu sound like you can't wait. How long will you be here???
Beach-congrats on the pound!!!! :D
Quilter-glad your feeling better.
song-wooooo hoooooo to you for the no cheats! I wish i could say that!! You are right about never saying NEVER again. I keep telling people that we are human and if we eat something "illegal" oh well we are human just get over it and get back with it!! It really is all in our attitudes. I did watch some of that Oprah thing with that Phil guy! I have been saying its all in our heads since i started my weigh loss journey. If we sit around crying about being FAT what good is that going to do us? My mom again is asking about SB and i don't push it-i was at her house yesterday watching Phil and yelling about it! She said oh your real sensitive about this! I said well "Just do it" people don't have to kill their selves cuz they are over weight! She really is getting depressed about the weight. She said to me that i have lost cuz i excersise and so on-i said "yes mother-in my head i know if i want to be "thin" then i have to excersise and watch what i put in my face" -I know this in my head!! LOL i thought it was funny. I try not to push this on her because i know that won't work-she knows what she needs to do-me nagging her won't help! I just had to vent! LOL gotta go give my little on a tubby time!! Hope you all do well with the scale today!!!

Another Crazy Day at work and a 2 mile run before 6:30 and I'm BEAT! Just ate some Mac and Cheese with WW noodles. Not the healthiest thing going but I needed some comfort food and that hit the spot.
WIW - I either stayed the same or last 1.2 a pound, hear to tell on my funky old scales. I estimate that with the "packing" problem and the TOM last week that I will see a bigger loss next week. Besides, not expecting to see 2.5 last week.
I apologize for being so tired, non-communicative and not getting to everyone. Lemme just say congrats to all you losers, welcome to all you newbies. I hope to have some energy for posts on Friday (my regularly scheduled day off).
Good night all!
Peace,
Frog

Wow, it was great to come home and see the new faces! Welcome!!!!
Ebabe..... do NOT feel ashamed or embarrassed about your weight with us. We love you!!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//love.gif I started this WOE on January 2nd with 101.5 pounds to lose. I've lost 8, and I'm feeling great. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif
Quilter.... so glad you're feeling better. Strep can be nasty nasty!!! I just got a GF grill (from the in-laws - late Christmas gift). I'm doing chicken breasts tonight. I had to laugh at the shape.... called my MIL and said, "Thank you for the toilet seat!" She got a kick out that.
Deb.... how's the foot????? It's not keeping you down, that's for sure.
Off to cook dinner.... more later!!!
Hugs to you all!

ebabe...don't you worry about not posting your weight...I don't, and it's not because I'm ashamed, but because I'm mad at myself for letting ME GET LIKE THIS...just remember....ONE DAY AT A TIME...I've just recently joined WW's for the fact that I HAVE TO GET ON THOSE SCALES IN FRONT OF SOMEONE....and tonight...It felt really good when that person told me I was down... :D

Evening All :D
I'm pooped! Shopped with my sister and Sharon (friend) today. Didn't get home til almost 7pm, and just got the chance to sit down - waiting for Eli to get home any minute, so will type what I can for now.
DONNA, Dr. Phil sounded like he said some interesting things on Oprah, wish I would of seen it. Thanks for tipping me off about next week, hopefully I'll remember to watch it when the time comes. Since they moved her to another station, I rarely watch it anymore. I saw the AOL thing on SB on my welcome screen and thought I'd read it later, now, I can't find it. Any ideas where I may be able to find it???
BEACHFAN, CONGRATS! Another pound, that's wonderful. Gosh, how I hope and pray when I get to goal and want to drop more, my body will treat me well and reward me as your's is doing for you :D I'm still waiting to see that pic of you in your newer svelt body!!
VIV, an official WELCOME TO THE BOARD to you, glad you decided to take the plunge and join us. That would be great if you and any of the other gals that live in the the New England States could met!!
EBABE, don't even give it a second thought about not posting your weight. It's not something we "require" you to do. It's funny, I don't tell anyone my weight, well, except Eli, yet I am perfectly comfortable in telling the board - that's because we are all in the same boat, (just some boats are bigger/smaller than others), and I know I will not be judged by my weight here, as I am/was by family, friends and total strangers. Whatever you are comfortable in doing, that's what you do, we don't think any less of you for not posting anything you don't wish to :)
QUILTER, can you send some strep my way?? I'll take a 5 pound loss any way I could get it! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif Seriously though, I'm glad you are feeling better today. I've never read any of Dr. Phils books, but maybe I'll try and remember to get one at the library. Lately, I've only been reading cookbooks, looking for SB legal recipes-it would be a nice change.
SONG, glad to see your post today! I'm sure you will make goal when you want-I'm shooting for the end of April as well, giving myself enough time as I get closer. Hey, if one cheat day a month will keep you on track the rest of the time, go for it - whatever works for you!!
BELINDA, you did great today, and I would take a good guess at saying you probably felt really proud of yourself, and you should! I understand about the chocolate, you are lucky you can stop, I dare not try, it's my worst trigger foods and I'm scared that if I even try a little, I won't be able to stop. Men definitely don't understand our love/hate relationship with our "metal monsters", like them with asking for directions, I guess.
COUNTRY, WELCOME TO THE BOARD I hope come Monday you will know that you have chosen a wonderful WOE. Please let us know how we can help, as we are all in this together, striving for the same goal. I don't see your bio on the bio board :( Maybe it didn't go through? Let me know if I can be of any help.
RHROO, I'm SURE it's the "girl thing" that has you up. It will go back down, at least you don't have a 4-5lb gain as I do sometimes! Headed to the Dr. tomorrow, thanks for asking! Will let you all know if I'll live another day or two.
FROG, boy oh boy are you sounding busy, yet you still find time to get up and run - that's great! Hope things quite down for you soon!!
JOY, you crack me up! You have such a good sense of humor!! Thanks for asking about the foot, bothering me a little, but not bad. Hopefully, I'll find out tomorrow what's up with it.
BIGORANGE, congrats on your 1.6lb loss-I'll be seeing less of you this weekend I guess. Can't believe that I'll be meeting you in just 3 days!!
Well gals, I'm gone for tonight. Please remember TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY and we have a new FEBRUARY RECIPE BOARD so if you have any good SB legal recipes you'd like to share with the rest of the board, please, post them tomorrow on the recipe board, the link is below, just click on it:
Hello everyone! A special hello to you newbies. :) I'm still fairly new here myself, but love to come here every chance I get.
Thanks for the well wishes. Still having sore throat & now feels like a cold coming on. Bad headache most of the day for the past 3 days or so. But I did get out & did a few things I needed to do today, including getting my youngest grandson, 15 months, pre-admitted for a minor surgery tomorrow morning. Had to get blood work & x-ray done. He had me chasing him all over the hospital & he'd laugh. Sure gave me a work out http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif
Also went to Drug Emporium where my friend told me she buys Ezekial bread for $1.19. Well, the clerk told me they no longer sold it for that price, so I paid $2.19 which is still not bad I guess. Tried a slice of the Sesame..It's GOOD! Also found a few other things there. It's A Vitamin Plus Store within the Drug Emporium store. I plan to visit there again!
Catsrulle, glad you're back. I can relate to the bit about getting too lazy to cook & wanting convenient food. That's how I gained back my 15 lbs. But Don't give up, just start again like you said. We all get weak once in awhile. That's why this group is so helpful. We can encourage each other. We're all fighting the same problem...unwanted weight.
Quilter, 5 lbs this week...WOW Keep up the good work.
Overcome, sounds like WW is really helping. I can hear your excitement!
Deb, sorry to hear your foot is hurting. Good luck with your "smashing" time. ;0 Those are never pleasant, but important non the less.
Well it's going to be another early morning tomorrow, have to be there for 7am. Surgery is set for 7:30 & I want to be there for my daughter & grandson. Check in tomorrow. Good Night ALL http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sleep.gif

Just a short note before I pop off to bed....
BELINDA!!! Don't stop drinking milk!!! I have never been a milk drinker, and am now being punished for it. I have a calcium deficiency which is giving me early signs of osteoporosis.... I'm now taking calcium supplements, and will be retested in about 4 months. I'm trying to increase my calcium containing veggies (spinach, broccoli, etc.). I'm also supposed to get 15 minutes of sunshine a day to give me the Vitamin D necessary as well. Hard to do this time of year!!! Also, exercise!!!!
Okay... I'll get off my soapbox for the evening!!!
Had a yummy dinner tonight.... grilled chicken (that had been marinated in soy sauce and lemon juice and garlic), brown rice, and sauteed fresh spinach. YUMMY!!!!
Healthy, joyful hugs!

Hi ALl You are certainly a lively bunch :o)
I've been on SB since saturday. I really messed up yesterday though! DH made pie crust cookies and I couldn't keep my mits out of them! No more off program food for me. I wonder if I've messed up my chances for a losss this week. I sure hope not. Would someone be sweet enough to post some examples of menus they eat to lose, not for maintenance. Maybe if I had an example or 2 it would spark my imagination. Well I better run time for work!
Have a wonderful day!

Anyone who wants the info on Sugarbusters that was on AOL just e mail me post your e mail address and your request and I will send it to you.
Hey guys sorry that my typing is a little off but I am probably having hand surgery later this spring on my left hand. I really can spell LOL!!
Last night I went out to dinner and tried so hard to be good....which I was ... but had a horrible meal of shrimp scampi cooked with the shells on!!! I sent it back and had them redo it and ended up eating only a part of my meal. All this for 15.95. I am ususally not a fussy one but that took the cake.
Beachfan I was not aware of how much you have lost. You must look like a new woman. Congrats. I hope to get to my goal weight of 125-130 by the end of summer. I am more aware of my own self sabotage this week. I have been eating low glycemic but way too much!!!

Hope you don't find the pounds I've lost.

Good Morning To Everyone!
To all you NEWBIES -- wow -- and what a bunch you are.
Have been on board since May but do not post as regularly as I use to. Doing WW and SB. When I find sometime I will post some of my menues.
It is very gloomy here In Port Orange, Fla. Raining and tomorrow rain again. Do not get me wrong we do need the rain BUT oldest daughter is getting married Saturday at our home around the pool. It was supposed to be in 70's but now it is saying low 60's. Oh, well.
Took today and tomorrow off from school so I can tightened up all the loose ends. Have had company since last Thursday and I seem to be doing is cleaning and recleaning.
Have to get to the store and buy everything as Lori wants me to fix a few things she likes -- it is going to be very pretty with only about 20 people here for this wedding. Yep - she is getting married this Saturday for insurance purposes -- such a long story. Then getting married again (going through the motions) on April 7 in a beautiful garden and then a reception. Those people will not know they are already married. MY GOD -- my life is insane.
I had started on my own in May at 225 and now am at 191. The combo WOE is working for me.About 4 or 5 years ago I weighed 320.
Last night I was going through my clothes. Let me tell you -- I could open a store. In the back I have what I call my wanna to be clothes -- you know -- I wanna to be in this , etc. I started trying on some of them. Mind you I like to buy when things are on sale - like my dress for the wedding - $250 for $85! Well I started this trying on around midnight and finished up around 2 -- some of them are way too big -- I could not believe it.And some of these things are not x-rated -- like xlarge this - grande - that. So I am feeling pretty darn good. Also Lori - who is not overweight - gave me a couple of her tops and they fit. She about died - never in her life would she have thought that her mother would be able to wear some of her clothes. Now the other daughter - Melissa - no way. I could wear her clotes maybe as a hta. She is a size 2 -- not fair.
Son is already here from Atlanta - other daughter is coming tomorrow from Orlando - about an hour away. We will be decorating the pool area.
Hubby has not been able to help as he is County Music Festival Chairman and gone every night. Tonight is the big concert so I will have his undivided atention tomorrow.
Lori is on medication so does not drink and neither do I. She does not want to go out Friday night so we hve asked a couple of close friends and her sister and me and maybe a few more over. You will not believe this but we are going to play board games - Like Millionaire - Balderdash - etc. Have a few munchies and thats it. She said she is too old for all that other - she is 31. Had a heck of a time to get adress for this wedding. She has a very broad back and is 6 ft. 1 but we got one. There is just nothing but trauma here and of course my favorite word - STRESS!!!!!!!Having her second dress made.
I had set a goal of 190 for her April wedding and here I almost have it for this wedding.
Well as you all can see I am obsessed with all of this but it wil all be good. So now 2 weddings and no lest I not forget a divorce also. Son - 25 - married 1 year. Came home one night and there you are - wife with someone else.
Maybe Lori thought she needed two to be on the safe side - LOL!
I am outtie - didnt sleep at all last night - thnk I will go back and catch a few but then again I have so much to do.
Ayone live close by -- would welcome any help and of course I would provide food and entertainment.
Good luck to all of you and to those of you that are "cheating" that is a no-no. i have chocolate running through my veins. I will buy chocolate - take a bite and spit it out -- hey it works. Remember I do stalk you - will be right behind you - watching you. Just ask Beachfan. By the way - you are doing awesome!
Who was it that vacations in New Smyrna - was that MELF? My husband teaches in New Smyrna -- it is about 10 miles from where we live.
Take Care - do not over exercise your right arm. think about me and will be back on again in about a week or so.
Later

Hello Everyone!!!!!!
I know, I have been so slack on p[ostings, but I do read the boards!!!! I really need to get back into it and go on line in the pm, like I was doing! I put my wiw somewhere else? Did I do it wrong? Oh well, here it is again! I didn't weigh in last week, since I went so overboard with the carbs, and I thought that i would have more of a gain than a loss, last wi was on 1-16, on 1-29 I was down 6 lbs! 6 more to go until I hit that 35 lb mark for my birthday(in 11 days) If I don't hit a 35 lb loss, I will take a 30 lb loss! Either way, I am happy!
Branndon and I have been sick again! Man, we are some weak folks! He and I have a wonderful upper resp. inf, sinus inf, and ear inf! Atleat we are on some wonderful drugs!! :)
Dan and I were talking about my diet the other evenin, and I told him that the weight I started this woe wasn't my highest weight. That was this summer when we were in Biloxi. We went to New Orleans for a day,a nd I was soooo out of breat, and tired from all the walking, I couldn't stand it. Never mind the fact that my 5'6 body was luggin around 351lbs!(YIKES) Between Sept and Nov I got down to my starting weight. He said that when we were on that trip, he was scared to death that I was going to have a heart attack or something because of how red my face was while doing such a simple task as walking. NEVER AGAIN will I weigh 351

I cannot believe how active this board is. That's one of the reasons I feel so confident - must be something to SB if y'all are so psyched about it!!!
WOO HOO! Only day 4 today and guess what! The scale dropped 2 lbs from yesterday to today! Is that possible? It's a new scale! Water weight, TOM, I don't care - that's more movement on the scale than in 2 months of WW!!! :D Maybe it's all your good vibes.....
I'm planing a field trip to Wild Oats, the health food super market in the next town, for tomorro, my day off...to read labels, see if I can find some more good whole grain options, etc. It'll be hard passing up the sushi they make fresh there, but I am sure I can find a substitute lunch. I really need the quiet and solitude on my Fridays when the kids are at school - I'm reallylooking forward to finding some more products to make this lifestyle work.

Ya know, I am having the strangest computer problems...computer comletley locked the keyboard and wouldn't let me type but it let me reply....
Can you please give me some good snack suggestions? What's worked for you mid afternoon???
Anway -
Ebabe - whether it's 200 lbs or 100 lbs or 10 lbs, we are all dealing with similar issues and want to feel better and healther. What I love about these boards it that they are so non-judgmental (altho there are some kooky boards out there too, sheesh... http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//insane.gif Please take advantage of all this great support and understand we're all taking the journey together!
Kim - take the 5 lbs! Whatever the reason! Isn't it just the greatest motivation! Hope you're feeling better.
Song - How do you pick your day/month to cheat? I don't know if I can do that - keep us posted on how it affects your weight, cravings, etc....We have similar weights and goals. I hope I can get through our trip to FLA in march without regressing tooo much....
Belinda - LOL re the scale, I asked my DH to hide mine when I was doing WW, Take 97, and when I asked him to get it back for me, he couldn't remember  AFter a month of him not remembering, I just went out and bought a new one. Hopefully I can resist getting on it every day, but I can't risk him hiding it again!
Country - why not start the diet slowly, taking small steps, until you can do it full fledged on 2/5?
Yum...this oatmeal is delicious.....
Rhoo - where are you in Mass? I'm in Simsbury, CT, near the mass border. Aren't people's attitudes towards weight loss, their own and others' interesting sometimes. It can be hard to deal with, I KNow...
Frog - was that Annies WW Mac and Cheese you were eating? Or do you make it from scratch? I give my kids the Annies, but with the white shells - would love to try WW on them...
Barbee - I love weddings. If I were in Fla now, I'd come andhelp ya out! I used to do catering and conference management, so I'd be a great help!! Just keep me away from the cake!
Cathy H - one of the gals read my menus so take a look and see if it helps. Also, the sample menus in the book are really giving me some good guidelines..
Big Orange - way to go on the -1.6! I can't get over the positive results you guys get from the scales on a regular basis!
Deb- Thank you for all your help and support. You're right on target abou teverything!

Happy Thursday Everyone!
I thought I’d be back at work by now, but am still very weak. I think that’s because I have absolutely no appetite. (What a strange feeling . . . I almost didn’t recognize what it was!) Anyways, since I haven’t been cooking, I don’t have any recipes for today. Maybe next week.
JOY--Your dinner last night sounds wonderful. Did you use your “toilet seat”? I told my husband about that and he really got a kick out of it.
BTW, what did you sautee your fresh spinach in? And season it with?
DONNA--Sorry to hear about your hurtin’ hand. Hope it’s nothing too serious. Speaking for everybody else . . . don’t be self conscious about your typing. We all get in our share of speelling (ha!) errers! And I hope you see your goal by the summer. That would be so sweet.
BARB--Man, your life is so far on the hectic side that it’s in a whole other state than hectic or stressful. But I love how you can always find something to joke about and make your situation lighter. I know that’s a good lesson that I could stand to learn from you. I love to laugh, but when things get bad, Miss Gloom and Doom takes over occasionally. I love what you said about trying on all your old clothes that you thought were still too small and they were big. Man, I think everyone who read that turned green with envy. That’s just so terrific. And being able to wear your daughter’s shirts . . . CONGRATULATIONS!!! Are you still flying high from that? Thanks also for reminding us that cheating is a no-no. I need to hear that as often as possible. So far, I’ve been really faithful to SB. But I’m afraid that if I ever really do fall off the wagon, I’ll not be able to get back on. Your encouragement is GREATLY appreciated! Hope the wedding works out well and that the weather cooperates. Just be thankful you’re not trying to do it around a pool in Ohio. Brrrrrr.
CYNSEA--Congrats on the six pound loss. That’s really wonderful!!!! You are doing so well. It’s hard work, but the pay off is fantastic, isn’t it??? I’m happy to hear of your determination to keep your weight off. I would like to take that stand with you and say that I’ll never again be at my highest weight. After regaining at least 20 pounds that I’d lost on WW I was so down on myself. I had given away most of my “fat” clothes and had nothing to grow into. That was a serious problem. It’s no fun getting dressed for work when I had only 2 pairs of pants. And I refused to go and buy anymore in the “x” sizes. So that was my motivating factor. I had to lose weight before I wore out the only two pairs of pants that fit. I was in a panic. So I’m really going to support you to “never go back” to that old way of living or eating.
VIV--Two pounds in one day . . . awesome!!! You are movin’ and groovin’!! As far as snacks go, sometimes, I’ll eat half an apple in the afternoon or some pecans or some peanuts. But I have to be careful when I start eating nuts. I really have to be specific about my portion size or I just sorta keep going. I’m glad you asked SONGBIRD about her one day cheat method. Because a friend told me something that would work in this situation and I keep forgetting to write it down for you all. She said to take the day of your birthday. Like me, mine is on Nov 20. So each month I could allow myself to “cheat” or eat one special non-illegal thing on the 20. That way the “cheating” period is well defined. It doesn’t lapse over onto other days. You have to wait for that one day. But you at least know that there is a day each month for something different or special. I thought this sounded good. But haven’t needed it yet. However, I have been thinking a good bit about Donato’s pizza and am considering having that next month on the 20th. By the time it gets here, my desire for it may be gone and that will be okay. It’s kind of like that old advice about waiting 20 minutes before you eat a snack because chances are you won’t be hungry for it when the 20 minutes are up.
Well gals, I think it's time for a nap! I'll leave you with this funny. Remember how I told you that DH said my voice (with the strep) was sexy??? Well, this morning he told me I sounded like Harvey Firestein! So much for my inflated ego!
Talk to you soon.

to finish my prior message ( got caught by boss on puter).....
I will never weigh that much again! To look at it now ( the heavy weight), and where I am now, I defiantly feel and look better! Although I have well over 100 lb to loose!
Remember, we all share the same common goal here. That is to become healthier people. With eachothers help, that will be acheived!
Ok, gotta go to work again! YUCK

Hi, I don't know everyone so I haven't been able to respond to each person seperately on the board (eventually I will) but each of you are doing so well, it is a real inspiration to me. Just the validation that I am on the right plan and folks can lose lbs on SB is just great to see. I still STRUGGLE with putting together menus which are low carb, low glycemic, low fat and filling but I keep eating protein and fill up on salad and string beans?!
QUESTION-What is it about the sample menus in the book that make them inappropriate for weight loss and more toward maintenance. Can I alter them in any way to make them more appropriate for wt loss?
DEBELLI Thanks for your email n' instant message, that was a nice surprise. I really look forward to our menu board. I used to live in Coconut Grove, Miami but moved to PA in 1997. I would love to be there now to meet everyone.
EVERYONE, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR LOSSES THIS WEEK. I hope I am among you next week. :) regards from FINALLY

Afternoon All :D
Got a few minutes before I hit the grocery store and pick up Lauren at school, so what better way to use this free time than to post on the board (others would say cleaning my house would be better, but I don't agree totatlly).
Went to the Dr., no great shakes, will live another day as long as no motorists run me down when I walk. The spot on my foot is a bone spur. Has anyone ever had one of these? Dr. said it can be shaved down - UGH! I think I'll think this out for a while. Looking forward to seeing what my blood work shows from last time I had it done. I vow to get on the phone today and make a gyno appt. Took my vitamin - so see, I'm doing better as far as taking care of myself, at least for today.
MELF, hope you are feeling better today. How did your Grandson's surgery go?? Hope all is well. EZEKIEL BREAD at $2.19 is still a steal - you're lucky to be able to get it at this price, I'm jealous!!
KAPOLA, I'll send you some sunshine, along with the 82 degree weather if you can send me some cooler weather, I'd like to order 60 degrees, please. Sounds like a good exchange to me!!
CATHY, one small slip up will NOT make you gain weight-now, continued slip ups, that's another story. Just get right back on track. I have to ask, what are those cookies like? I've never heard of PIE CRUST COOKIES, but they sure do sound yummy!
DONNA, thanks for offering to e-mail the AOL article to others. My e-mail address is DEBELLI@AOL.COM. I tried searching for it, and nothing came up, but you'd think it would. Sounds like your dinner wasn't so good, I hate when I go out and I don't enjoy it. I guess that's one reason I continually go to the same places, as I know what to expect and I know what I will order. I'm a creature of habit, big time!
BARBEE, geez, with all you have to do, you made it onto the board, and even posted a long one - woo hoo! You do amaze me at times http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif I can only imagine your closet being bare-NOT! I'm sure you've filled it with some new clothes by now. You should try and see if there is a place in the area that takes clothes on consignment, then use the $$$ to buy some new duds. Better thought, use the money and come down to Miami http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif
CYN, great loss, congrats! Sorry to hear you too aren't feeling well, and Brandon not feeling well can't be easy. Hope you two get better quickly. Does Dan have any weight problem?? Hope you don't mind me asking, just curious. He seems very supportive of you :)
VIV, Congrats on a 2lb loss - take it and be proud, no matter how it came. I'm sure it's due to watching what you are eating/not eating now. Focus on this WOE and you will lose!! Have fun at WO, I shop there as well. They have the EZEKIEL BREAD if you haven't gotten any yet, I like the sesame the best. For snaking, try peanut butter on sb legal crackers, nuts, yogurt, cheese, fruit, it's really not that hard. I guess I can say that so easily as I snack whenever I'm hungry, on anything that's SB legal.
QUILTER, join the ranks among the other board members that are sick-there's quite a few of you in good company! I saw what you wrote to BARB, do stay faithful to this WOE and you will be rewarded greatly. I feel exactly like you, if I dare fall off the wagon, I'm so scared I won't get back on for the rest of the ride-it's happened on so many other diets I've followed in the past. I in no way feel deprived of anything, and I don't miss anything either-so I guess that's just 2 of the reasons I love this WOE and don't have any temptations of cheat. Sometimes I feel I sound like a goodie-two-shoes when I say I have never cheated, but I've never been anything less than honest with this board :) Have you ever seen the commercials, one is the lady in the dressing room, the other one is getting ready to open the door for a blind day-and she sounds like a guy - that's what I have envisioned your voice sounding like when you mentioned Harvey Firestein!! LOL!!!
FINALLY, do remember that SB is NOT a low carb diet-many people think this WOE is like Atkins when it comes to carbs. Approx. 40% of your calories should come from carbs. If you need to figure this out, I can help, or you can read how on the TIPS & TOOLS BOARD. No one should be at a loss of things to eat on this WOE. Do you like beans of any kind, like chick peas, black beans, etc?? Those are great to throw into your menus. There are so many possibilites!!! I don't have my book handy, but I"m sure someone may be able to answer why the menus listed in the book are for maintenance. I was looking at the book yesterday, as it's really been a long time since I read it, but I remember seeing one question that was answered on how many breads you can eat a day, and the book said 2 for weight loss, 3 for maintenance. It's really not hard to come up with menu ideas. Do you have the SB SHOPPERS GUIDE?? Just look through that little book and get a good ol cookbook and plan a meal :) Too bad you aren't around here anymore, we were almost like neighbors-I grew up in Coral Gables, by Gables High school on Le June Rd. The Grove was my old stomping grounds in the 70's-boy has that place changed!!!
I got my new muffin book yesterday, so will try to find a few recipes to post on the board. Also, I found a good sight with lots of bread machine recipes that maybe those of you who have one can find some good SB legal recipes that you can make from some of them.
I'll check in later.

Good Afternoon Ladies !
Its been a good day... I'm back on track. I felt quite depressed today, I wonder if it could be from the sugar I ate yesterday? No more screw ups like that one! Where do I find the bread machine recipes? I'd love to try them.
The cookies that DH made are pie crust cookies, you roll out the extra dough butter it, speinkle cinnamon and sugar, and bake! They are great, just like mom used to make! But I've had enough og them.
You are a great group and I'm looking forward to talking with you again.
I should have my bio in tonight once I figure out how to submit it! LOL

Hi everyone. I just came in after slipping on the ice near my garage today's exercise I guess :))Anywayzzzz I found an organic protein bread at the market and wanted to check it out with you all. It's ALVARADO ST BAKERY "California Style Complete Protein Bread" The nutritional info is:1 fat,10 Carbs
2 fiber, 1 sugar and 3 proteins. other ingr. are.hi-protein sprouted wheat berries, millet,CORN,rolled oats, soy beans, lentils, barley malt, HONEY, gluten, & lecithin. IF this is not ok because of the honey and corn, I'll scrap it. but the "1" sugar count made me think it may be ok? sooooo. Is it?
I's hate to think after my trip (to the market) and slip (on the ice) that I can't eat the blankity blank thing. Well, I'll continue with day one on SB. see yas, :)Finally

Get yourself some GOOD sourdough bread, UNCLE SAM's cereal, grilled chicken breast...fish...the selections are endless...when the menu board gets up and running, you'll never be without an idea...CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT ONE!!
DEB...did your doctor suggest a heel cup for the spur? That's what the orthopods do here.
MUFFINS??? ummmmmmm...bring that book with you to GATOR'S...I think I'll fix some of my beans to bring on Saturday...
MELF...so glad the surgery went well. Now take care of YOU...feel better...and DRINK THAT CHICKEN BROTH!!!

Hey everybody!
I think I'm about back to normal. I have had a WILD week and am glad that it's over (I work Mon-Thurs). My boss is supportive and has cleared my Mon schedule to help me catch up!
Welcome to all the new people. It's always fun to see new names on the board. Stick around ladies, stick around! :)
I am getting ready to watch Friends/Survivor. Why are the networks doing that to me? I gotta learn how to program that VCR!
Am previewing Fitness Friday Article ideas and think I will post an article on proper fitness shoe selection, in honor of the Super Chick's recent bout with foot pain  !
I have a wonderful neighbor who is having a dinner party Sat night and wants to make sure that I can eat what she is preparing, which is made more difficult by the fact that I don't eat beef or pork! But she is going to make homemade marinara and I'm gonna bring my own noodles and SB cheesecake - this is the same group that I cooked it for before and they have requested it again!
To the Chick who asked about my Mac and Cheese - I cheated and used the Hodgson Mill M&C noodles and the cheese packet out of Kraft M&C. I said it was comfort food now didn't I? :D
Triumph Report! - Wore another old is new again pair of pants today! That makes not seeing the scale move a little easier to take!
Hope all who are sick are feeling better soon!
Have a good night, it's time to succomb to the powers of Thursday Night Must See TV and prepare tomorroe's article.
Good Night!
Peace,
Frog

Hi again! Great news. We got to 41 degrees today. It's a friggin' heatwave. And the sun was also shining. Couldn't even handle two pleasant weather things in one day.
Just a few comments . . .
DEB---Sorry to hear about your bone spur. I sure hope there is something easier to do for it besides that shaving thing. Eeeegads, that sounds a bit daunting. I had some foot problems earlier in the year (mainly just some aching and paining). They didn't find anything. But the foot dr. gave me this yeowy shot right in my foot. I think it was chordizone or something like that. Anyways, I wasn't too jazzed about the actual shot procedure or about getting something like that pumped into that particular spot. But the pain vanished and has not returned. He also told me to lay off my clogs. Huge change for me, because I LOVED my clogs. Anyways, good luck! Thanks for the words of encouragement. Also, I am REALLY, REALLY interested in the bread machine recipe site. I've tried both the Brennan recipes. And am still looking for something magical.
MELF---Glad to hear your grandson is doing well. Now, you just have to shake off what's bugging you! Don't let that throat and headache drag on too long before seeing a dr.
CATHY H---You just gave me a real blast from the past! My mom made the EXACT same kind of cookies when I was young. And my Grandma also made them. Thanks for the yummy trip down memory lane.
Have a great night gals! I'll see ya on the flip side. (Is anybody else jealous about the upcoming rendezvous in FL? I must admit I'm a bit green! Have fun you lucky girls!)

Thanks for the welcome. I finally got my bio on the board. Got through the day with only 1 Coke! No more in the house. Every time I thought I had to have one, I drank a BIG glass of water. That seemed to help. Working on some ideas for meals for next week. Trying to be selective with what I put in my mouth until I get to the store. Have a Valentine's dinner at church on Sat. night, so I know that won't be good. How do you handle things like that, when you don't really have a choice of food?

Big Orange, I'm looking forward to seeing the GI Reports books. They sound real scientific, but I have done searches for GI info. and now you have it! I won't play any Gator music, but I certainly won't redecorate my house for you. You'll see what I mean on Sat.!!!
I made the custard today, and I "doctored" up the recipe by adding some unsweetened chocolate. Actually, I combined 2 recipes, both off the old Sweetalk board. The custard turned out just OK, not great. But I have some berries that will go well on top. Strawberries and chocolate taste good together. I'll make the chicken paprikash tomorrow. I think Deb's bringing a dessert, so that will make up for the custard.
Debelli, the newspaper says it will be 68 degrees and partly cloudy. The radio says it will be 68 and nice and sunny. I don't know what God says it will be, but I bet what He says is what it will actually be! So, we'll find out Sat. I should be high 60's, low 70's.
Barbee, it was great to hear from you on the board. Congrats on your weight. I also find that, for me, combining SB with counting calories works. That would be similar to WW, except they count the calories differently--with points--and have meetings for encouragement. Way to go, girl!!

Evening All :D
Well, I didn't get around to getting a couple recipes on the board tonight, but I will do my best for tomorrow. Did post the link to the bread machine site though, at least I'm good for something.
The scales are WAY up for me tonight, UGH! Not discouraged, just peeved. It's almost mid-cycle for me, so this is pretty normal. I know it's not a fat gain as I had to tighten my fanny pack that I use for walking again, so that's a good sign even with the scale being up!!!
MELF, glad to hear your grandson is well, thanks for giving us the update!!
CATHY, glad to hear you are back on track. Don't know if the sugar made you feel that way or not. I know that many of the gals get sick when they eat something sugary-sure does keep me in line! Cookies sound yummy-thanks for the explanation!!
FINALLY, oops, hope you are okay after the fall! Hmmm, the bread, PERSONALLY, I wouldn't eat it. That's just my personal opinion, but you can eat it, and if you don't have any trouble with it, then go ahead and enjoy it. You have to remember, we are all different and we all have different reactions to different foods. Plus, I tend to get over obsessed and just won't touch anything questionable.
BIGORANGE, I LOVE YOU! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//love.gif I've wanted to order the GRI books for so long, please, please bring them!!! The heel spur is on the side of my foot, I'll show you Sat-something to look forward to seeing besides my ugly mug!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif BEANS, are you sure??? Hey, you pick your own poison!!!! LOL!!!!
FROG, glad to hear things are settling down for you. Looking forward to tomorrow's article! Great on the old/new pants-I don't have any old, so I guess I'll have to buy new - one day!!!
QUILTER, if 41 is a heatwave, what do you call 82???? ****!!!! Check out the recipe board, the bread machine link is there now. Ah, the foot, I'll see what the x-ray says, that is if I ever go!! Unless it reall starts to bother me, or grows to the size of Mt. Rushmore, I don't think I"ll do anything to it.
Well gals, it's late and I've got to hit the bed. I'll check in tomorrow morning and get those recipes on. I am making a few things to take up to Gators house on Sat, so that will keep me busy for the day.
COUNTRY, thanks for posting your bio! Hmm, the dinner at church, this has come up by others in the past. You can make the best choices possible, eat something before you go so you won't be so tempted-I'm sure some of the other gals will have some good ideas. I haven't had soda since JUNE, and honestly, I don't miss it at all. Once the sugar is out of your system, those cokes will be a distant memory!!!!
GATOR, I'm sure the custard you made will be delicious. Let's pray the cake I make comes out as well as the first time. I'll be making the quiche tomorrow, and before we leave Sat. morning, I'll throw the hummus together. Thanks for the weather update, sounds like it should be nice weather!! Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Have a wonderful night.

Everyone must be busy, not many posts today.
Viv--We have the same store in Portland, except it's called Nature's Northwest (owned by Wild Oats). It's a great place to shop.
Barb--good luck with all that is going on in your life right now.
Debelli--you're doing a good job on your walking! Go easy on your foot.
cyn--it doesn't matter how much you need to lose, it's the method of getting there, sweetie!
I had a really good day. I followed my diet to a "T" and walked on the TM for 60 minutes (based on heart rate, not speed). My husband just found out that his job in now permanent status. It didn't rain much today, it wasn't too cold, the freeways weren't as nasty as usual. It normally takes me 1 hour to go fourteen miles.
Love ya guys, thanks for your encouragement.

Good Morning All!
Well I stepped on the scale this a.m. and it said I am up 2 lbs from last saaturday. Could it be that I am eating too much? Are those deli rye triscuits legal? Maybe I should cut out the bread stuff alltogether?!Anyway I have the SB book and would love some suggestions on other books that would help me out.
How much cheese is too much in a day? I usually have 2 slices provolone and 1 or 2 string cheese a day. Am I going too crazy?
I don't drink regular pop, just diet, diet coke, sprite. How about crystal lite is that legal? I am working on getting my water in too.
I finally got on the TM and walked 15 minutes, In the past I was walking at least 30 minutes. So I'm going to work on that. When the weather improves I will be walking outside.
Well have a great day I'll check in later after work!

I have to be to work early today and have a big day planned!!! Shopping after work and then to pick up some new wallpaper for the weekend project. Anyway I just wanted you all to know about a site I found after going back to Rick Mendosa's site. www.glycemicindex.com (http://www.glycemicindex.com) this is the site of the authors from the book The Glucose Revolution. I use their books as the best source of the glycemic index. Enjoy the site!!

Good Friday morning! :D Everyone sounds up! thats good it helps when your trying to change your way of eating! We can do this right!!!! LOL!
I have been busy the past couple of days. Trying to get my house in order because i am going back to work tonight (6 p.m -midnight)so things get stressful around here! The only thing thats good about it is that i won't be around food-except the junk people bring in. I feel like i have my sugar addiction under control sooo I really don't think i will have a problem this year -or ever again (i work a seasnal job). I also know that i will have to get most of my eating done during the day and that will be hard. I can do it! I hope to have much sucess that March 20th goal will be here quick-look how quick Feburary got here! I am looking foward to peoples reactions who have not seen my 56.0 lbs gone! (well they saw about half before the lay-off last year!) I love peoples reaction, confessions, and eagerness to lose after seeing me (or anyone who;s lost weight!) Anyway enough boring stuff!
Well you girls have fun at Gators sounds like you have stuff planned and it will be fun! Glad u went to the Dr. Deb. I wounldn't let them mess with it myself.
Quilter-glad u feel better i think i would be sick if i could lose 5 lbs too!!!
cathy H-you do have to watch your portion size on the WOE. Personally i try not to overdo with the cheese, and nuts. I do have them but try to eat the low fat cheese. Don't stop eating the bread i only have 1-2 servings of "starchy" carbs a day. Just remember that the scale is not the only way to measure how your doing! I know the book says to weigh yourself, but i know you can tell by your clothes and so on how your doing. I know the scale stresses me out! you might have a big drop in wieght one week a small one the next. Hang in there! Try and get the water in its important to weight loss. I don't even drink diet soda anymore. If i do i use the caffine free. Caffine does something to the water that your consuming i forget what it was! Keep up the excersise too thats great!
country-Glad the coke is gone-yuk!! lol When i eat at church i bring a big green salad so i know there will be something there for me. I go for the plain meat dishes also. Then after the meal go off and visit and forget about the sweets!! During the holidays we all discussed that the holidays should be for visiting not eating if we surround ourselves with people we want to be around its easy to forget about the sweets.
Gotta gooooo have an appt. and want to work my body first!!!! wooo hooo!!!!!

Mornin!!!!!!
I couldn't wait to get into work so I could go online! :) I really don't have anything to say other than mornin! and that I hope everyone has a great sb day! I talked to Dan's mom lastnight( for 3 hours!) She and her hubby are doing well on the sb woe. I pray that she looses enough weight to fly out here from Ca, in Oct for Dan's brothers wedding.
Well, gotta get to work! Check in laters!
Cyn
Deb- yes, Dan does have a weight problem.(not as significant as mine) I am hopeing that once I loose a significant ammount of weight, he will want to change his eating habits. I can't and won't force him to do it, but He does have about 60 lbs he could loose.

Good morning!!!
I'm way behind in all the postings so I won't try to answer any...except to say you're all the best!!!
Someone did ask me about my sauteed spinach, so I'm going to post that on the recipe board. Spinach is a good source of calcium!!!
I'd love to know more about the glycemic books.... is there a web site to check those out/order them.
I've been using www.fitday.com (http://www.fitday.com) to record my foods. It's wonderful. I definitely don't get enough of the vitamins and minerals that I need. I've also challenged myself to keep my caloric intake under 1800 so that I can lose weight. FitDay has a wonderful feature in that you can check to see if you've burned more calories than you've taken in. I've been doing good since I faithfully began recording my foods.
Debelli.... I challenge you to hide the darn scales. Just for a week!!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//love.gif
I'm so glad it's Friday. I have the house to myself tomorrow morning, and I'm going to stamp some valentines (Overcome.... wanna join me?)
Hugs and smoochies!!

Goooood Friday Morning! It's Frog here with your Fitness Friday Report.
Non-exercisers take heed, there is something here for you, your significant other and your kids as well. :)
SELECTING A WORKOUT SHOE
(Running, Walking, Aerobics)
This topic is VERY near and dear to my heart as I have wasted hundreds and hundreds  of dollars on the wrong shoes and had injuries as a result; plantar fasciaitis, ITB problems, knee pain, and an emergent stress fracture. Finally, I had a physical therapist who specialized in feet, analyze my foot type and suggest the right type of regular and exercise shoes for me. I haven’t had any problems since. If I had continued to wear the wrong fitness shoe, as well as everyday types of shoes, I would have continued to ruin my feet. I am an overpronator with very flat feet. I want to encourage you to follow this important advice: Take care of your feet! They are the only ones you get in this life!
FOLLOW THESE 3 SIMPLE STEPS (All of which are detailed below):
1. Determine your foot profile
2. Match your profile to one of the categories below
3. Go to a specialty running/walking store, try on several pairs and the buy the one that fits the best.
1. In figuring out what type of shoe works best, you need to understand the basics of the 2 main types of foot motion and figure out which one you are.
Overpronation – when natural the inward rolling motion of your foot rolls too far inward. This causes extra strain on the muscles of the leg and can result in injury, commonly knee problems. If your feet are flat, then they you probably overpronate.
Underpronation – when the foot doesn’t roll in far enough. This causes you to walk/run more on the outer side of your foot causing stress on the muscles and tendons on the outside of the leg. ITB syndrome (Iliotibial band syndrome) is among the most common of these types of injuries. The ITB is a strip of connective tissue that runs from the hip along the outside of the thigh muscle and attaches to the shin bone (tibia) just below the knee. If you have high arches, then you probably underpronate.
Women are more likely to overpronate than underpronate, are more likely to overpronate than men. This is due to the increased angle of the hip to the knee women have (because of our beautiful, wider hips), forcing the knees into more of a “knock-kneed” position, with our feet wider apart than our knees.
So how do you know which type of pronator you are?
* Do the wet test. Wet your feet and then stand on a large piece of paper on a dry flat surface. (Do both feet!) Now look at the print. If it’s full, showing the entire sole of your foot with no curve where your arch should be, then you have a flat or low-arched foot. If there is extreme curve between the ball of your foot and the heel, then you have a high-arched foot. If your footprint looks like the “Hang-10” footprint, with a moderate amount of sole showing, then you may have a normal foot type.
* Look at the “wear pattern” on the bottom of your shoes. Look at the places where your toes and the ball of the foot come in contact with your shoe. Wear toward the inner side of the shoe or your big toe suggests that you are an overpronator. Wear on the outer side of the shoe, your little toe, indicates that you are an underpronator. And if wear is in the middle of the shoe then you have a normal foot motion.
* Look at the soles of your feet to see where the calluses are. Overpronators have calluses under or around the big toe and an underpronator may have them along the outer edge of the foot.
* Look at your legs. The more knock-kneed you are, the more you will pronate. Bowlegs and feet that point inward result in underpronation.
2. Now you need to select a shoe category to go with your foot type.
Motion-Control Shoes. These are designed for the overpronator. These assist in providing stability to your foot; keeping it in place and causing it to strike the ground in the correct pattern. The forefoot of the shoe is less flexible (it is harder to bend the toe of the shoe toward the laces). The sole of the shoe (the last) is straight, not curved. They are also a good choice for heavier runners because of the sturdy construction.
Stability Shoes. These are designed for normal pronators. They are less sturdy than motion control shoes, but have more cushioning (meaning that the midsole is softer) than motion-control styles. The softer midsole allows for more foot motion needed by normal pronators. The sole of the shoe is semi-curved
Cushioned Shoes. These are designed for underpronators. They have the right combo of cushioning and stability and are the softest midsoles of all. They also provide the best shock absorption. Cushioning isn’t for everyone though as it allows for the greatest range of foot motion. The sole of the shoe is curved or semi-curved.
Use these as guidelines, rather than rules, for selecting a shoe that fits you best. You may find that a motion control shoe fits you best, even if you aren’t an overpronator.
3. Take what you know about shoes, your foot type and go to a local specialty store. Talk to the sales people. If they can’t talk to you about what types of shoes are for your foot type, then Go Somewhere Else. By shoes from a place where the sales staff participates in your sport and understands your shoe needs. Try to find a store that has a treadmill. Try on several pairs. Check the fit and take each pair for a “road test.” Ask the sales person about the return policy.
Tips for a good fit:
*Always have your foot measured and fit the shoes to your larger foot.
*Try on shoes late in the day when your feet are their largest.
*Wear the same type of socks you plan to wear when exercising.
*The condition of your shoes is important.
*If you wear an orthotic, take it with you and try it with your shoe.
*Shoes should feel snug but not tight.
*You should be able to play the piano with your toes. There should be a thumb-width space between the top of your longest toe and the top of the shoe; check this on both shoes.
*If you notice rubbing, your foot sliding, or your toes banging against the end on your test drive, then keep looking for a better fitting pair.
*Look for brands that come in narrow or wide widths if needed.
*Buy the right shoe for the task. Walking shoes are not for running, cross-trainers are not for running, running shoes aren’t meant for aerobics, etc.
*Buy a more expensive shoe and get the right fit rather than buying a so-so shoe that is less expensive.
*Replace your shoes when they are worn out. When you start to notice new and sudden aches and pains, you may want to think about replacing your shoes.
And that's your Fitness Friday report for Groundhog Day, February 2, 2001.

Good Morning All you gals,
Thanks for the well wishes & advice of Chicken Broth. Think it's a full fledge cold now. Don't you LOVE those?
Baby sitting the grandson today, he screamed for his mommy not to leave him this am. Not his typical way. He seems to be playing ok right now though.
Not much time to respond, but have a couple of questions. I picked up some BRUMMEL & BROWN SPREAD made with YOGURT.It's DELICOUS, but wanted a couple of other thoughts from you Chicks & Super Chick!!
Ingredients:
veg oil blend(soybean), water, nonfat yogurt, salt, gelatin, & list goes on, but none that I can see containing sugars.
FACTS:
Total fat 5g (sat 1g,poly 2.5g, mono 1g)
Cholesterol 0, Sodium 90mg, Total carbs 0, Protein 0
Please tell me what you'll think??
I made some Hodgson Mill WW muffins yesterday am & they're really good. Trying to increase my fiber. Have a REAL problem here with not enough fiber. Not sure where to increase it cause I eat lots of fresh fruits & veggies, but it's still not enough. Any advice along this line would help too. I know I'm not drinking enough water also. Working on that.
Will check in later...hope all of you have a great day! Very cloudy & about 40 here in SW LA

Happy Friday Everyone :D
I'm also behind in posts so I won't be able to answer or respond to everyone. BUT everyone is so positive and is doing a good job following this WOE.
Both my children are sick today so I am having a forced day off. I'll have to go into the office tomorrow to catch up but I decided to make the most of today.
I'm doing fine maintaining my loss. I now weigh 137 and seem to be starting to slow down on the weight loss. It is a DELICATE balancing act not to eat too much, continue the excercise and also not to eat too little and continue losing weight. I have really tried not to get out of the habit of eating right.
Frog: Thanks for the shoe article. I have a very high arc and wide feet so I have always struggled with shoes that fit. I'm also too cheap to go somewhere that will give me the kind of service you are talking about. I'm going to re-think the cheapness aspect and go look for some shoes that work for me. After all it will cost more in the long run if I am injured.
Rhoo: You're doing great! I don't know how you do the late shift. I just have to have my beauty sleep!
Big Orange: Thanks for worrying about me when the convicts escaped the other day. They've been caught in Tenn. The prison is 30 miles north of where I live...
DEB, Big Orange and Gator: Have fun this weekend.
Deb: At work they have a digital camera and took pictures of me so I could post the final picture here but when I tried to up load the picture it didn't work. I'm going to try something different and see if I can figure it out. If not, I'll email it to you!
BARBEE: So glad you posted and are keeping us up to date on the weddings. It sounds like you have everything undercontrol and it will be beautiful and enjoyable. Thanks for haunting me and NOW remember I'll haunt you. Remember to post and let us know how you are doing and send us some wisdom too!
Gotta run:

GOOD FRIDAY MORNING EVERYONE! :D
Not much time to post, have quite a bit to get done today before we go tomorrow. Got 5 miles in this morning giving me 23 miles for the week, which I'm please with. Scale is still up  but hope that by the time I get home and WI on Monday it will be down, as I know this is just hormonal!
My friend Sharon started SB a few weeks ago. Though, she didn't weigh herself at the beginning, she was happy to report that she's lost 7lbs this past week-where she use to say I was obsesssed with this WOE, well, now she is doing the same! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif
KAPOLA, glad to hear you had a good day yesterday! Doesn't it make you feel great!!! What does your hubby do, and are you happy this job is permanent?? Wasn't sure from your post.
CATHY, don't worry about that 2lb gain, if you are following the WOE, you know it's not fat - like BEACHFAN & I, blame it on hormones! I can go up 4lbs easily during those times-of-the-month, it will go back down. As discouraging as the scale look when you see a gain, just know, be patient and it will go back down!!! In the SB book it says you can eat 2 pieces of bread when trying to lose, 3 when on maintaince. Too much cheese may be a problem, but a few ounces a day isn't too much, I usually have 2, maybe 3 ounces every day. Usually it's a low-fat cheese. I stopped drinking soda and Crystal Light back in June, the aspertame was effecting me, mind wise! Drinking enough water really does help with the weight loss. Again, don't worry about the 2lbs, it's just temporary.
DONNA, I have the Glucose Revolutions GI listed on a site on the TIPS & TOOLS BOARD as well, and it is a good one. Rick Mendosa likes their SUGIR info better than the GRI. I am almost finished reading the Glucose Revolution - what are your opinions about it and the differences they have from some of those in SB??
JOY, thanks for posting your recipe. That's basically how I do the spinach as well-to eat like that or put into the WW lasagna we (actually, Sharon) makes - YUMMY! You can find those books at http://www.glycemic.com/. I've known about them for a long time, but didn't want to order them, as when I asked some questions about the books, they would never answer me. I am eager to check out BIGORANGE'S copies and then deem if I want to spend the money on them. I'm loving fitday as well. How about I hide the scale for 2 days?? A week, no way!!!
RHROO, good luck back at work tonight! That's a late shift you work. I'm sure people will be surprised when they see you've lost, 56lbs can't go unnoticed! Okay, maybe it can if you wear big clothes like I do-so wear something slimming!!
CYN, even when you don't have anything much to say, it's always nice to come on the board and do a quick hello!! Seems SB is doing well not only for you but Dan's parents as well - Dan will probably join the bandwagon in the future!!!
FROG, thanks for the shoe article - have to get some time and really read it. I know I don't wear the correct shoes. I wear boys black hightops-not for walking, that's for sure!!!
MELF, I've used Brummel & Brown in the past, so I think there isn't anything in there that's not SB legal. I stopped using it and switched back to butter, as I use so very little of it. So, enjoy! Try to eat a 1/2 cup Fiber One, it has 14grams of fiber. Water is also important. Berries are a good source of fiber as well. BEANS!
BEACH, sorry to hear the kids are sick. I know this is not your idea of a true day off. I can't believe you're at 137 - WOW!!!! Congrats!! Feel free to send the picture over, I'll be happy to post it for you!!
Really gotta run - will check in later this evening sometime!!
Have a wonderful day!!!

Hello SB-ers!
I'm running off to my Wild Oats field trip but wanted to post a quick good morning - I'll get more time to read all those posts later on when DS's get their Friday night movie...
BUT I wanted to say - I can't believe how active and committed this board is! You guys are an inspiration! :) Thanks!
And...I picked up Sugar Bust for Life cookbook at Borders yest...then found it and the first on on Half.com for less than the price of one new, including shipping! Anyone use these books yet? They seemed quite supportive of the program, and I am a recipe junkie!
And....I emailed this to Debbie...I had a quick DR's appt yesterday and on the way there it struck me that both times I was pregnant I developed gestational diabetes (with a 60 lb weight gain each time)...It struck me...could this have something to do with my struggle to lose weight the traditional (WW) way? It was just a thread of a thought. I asked the Doctor (not my regular Doctor, actually I don't like this Doctor at all, major attitude)...he looked at me like I was, as my son Harrison says, a MAJOR doofus  and said "Of course, you are predisposed to that". Like, Duh, you stupid bimbo! So maybe this is the key to my weight loss challenge???
As my friend said to me when I told her this - I've had an "epiphany". LOL. Let's hope so!
More later - have agreat day and I'm off to spend $$ - hope I can resist the sushi, tho......

Good morning! Not much to report. I too, love Fitday. I think it's pretty empowering to be able to see and analyze exactly what you're eating! I just started it and hopefully next time I get on the scale I can move my weight down that little chart. Had two beers yesterday with friends after school. Miller Lite was on special and that's what I had since it only has three carbs. I'm going to workout extra today, though.
I have a big question: Why is Sourdough legal???? I'd love it if it were as it is by far my favorite non-brown bread.
Going to the store today, again, another empowering activity. I look at every single label and it takes me so long to shop! I also look into other people's carts. It makes me so sad sometimes, what I see - pop tarts, cokes, white bread, cookies. I know it's for kids but that's what makes it even sadder. My mom was pretty anti-sugar when I was young - no sodas, no white bread, no sugary cereals...except for baking. Brownies, especially. That's it, it's all my mom's fault! :) No, she's lost on SB too, and now it's MY TURN!!! Have a great FRIDAY everyone!!!

GOOD NEWS LADIES!!!!!!
The 7 MONTH plateau that I have been on is FINALLY been broken!!!! YEEEEE - HAAAAA! On the scale at work (a.k.a. the gym that I work at) I went from 150 # - 145# and at the scale at home I am down 146-144. :D :D :D I am SOOOO happy!
A little history of you that are new to my “saga” I lost 20 pounds on Sugar Busters on the last spring/summer. And then…..I started reading too many diet books and started to get overwhelmed. I was trying to do about 400 diets at once and got so overwhelmed that I gave up. (which is when I left the board for a while too) I started cheating and stopped losing for 7 months. Well now (as I said in my last post) I am committed to stopping the cheating and rewarding myself once a month with a “free” day. AND IT IS WORKING!!!! I also was measured at work and I lost 4 inches too!!!! I lost a full inch in my waist. Since I started working at the gym I have lost a total of 12.5 inches. I am on my way ladies!
Thanks for all being here to share the triumph!
Now I m going to go to the bio board and read about all you ladies that are new to me!
See you all on the board!

Well, just found out that I'm going out with the girls tonite ;) so I thought Id grab a minute to post - Fridays are my only day off (weekends don't seem like weekends anymore, LOL), so I love my solitude.... :) I don't even answer the phone, which really annoys my friends!
We finally got a new computer at home - my 10 yo DS is thrilled because he has now "arrived" - he gets the old one in his room. This keyboard is a little different, tho....so parden the typos :D
I went to Wild Oats this morning...fairly successful but - no Uncle Sam cereal, or Ezekiel bread (sp?), orStevia....I did find some low carb protein bars...I like to keep something like this in the car, just in case.. They're Biochem Ultimate Lo Carb Bars, they use stevia and cocoa powder among the many (scary) ingredients, total carb: 2g, total sugars: 1g. Anyone heard of them - they probably taste terrible...
I wonder if I overdid it on lunch...munched a few cashews - was able to pass by the sushi (MAJOR accomplishment :eek :), got a smoothie (berries and organic OJ, no sugar added - is that OK?) then got a salad for at home - 1/2 lb chicken curry salad (picked out all the raisins, it was delicious - no added sugar, did use mayo, so possibly sugar in the mayo?) and a big salad with a bit of shredded cheese and tons of veggies. Used 1 tb of the salad bar organic caesar, which could have had some sugar in it, couldn't find the ingredients. I'm rather full now, but it was good....any comments? I've got to learn how to eat out on this plan so it's second nature...
Songbird - YES on the plateau break! I was on an eternal plateau with WW, drove me crazy, and I hope these 2 lbs are a sign of good things to come. I understand how frustrated you must have been, good for you to have stuck with it!!
Melf - I'm interested in the info on those Bummel & Brown spreads too. Ilike the plain butter also - my kids like the spreads.
The cat just walked across thekeyboard, cracks me up...
Belinda - can't read my scribbled down notes to you, LOL...oh yeah, I wonder aobut sourdough too, interested in the answer. Altho I think for now I should stay away from breads like that...LOL about the shopping carts, DH always gets so annoyed at me makingfaces into people's carts when they are filled with all that garbage! I do buy some "junk" for the kids, I think they'd run away from home if I didn't....
Frog - so what do you think of the new Survivor? My kids love it...congrats on the pants! That's the best feeling!
Debi - my cousin lives in Portland, I thought it was sooooooooooo laid back that there was never any traffic! :)
Debbie - glad you got your foot problems attended to - that must hurt!
Cathy H - check the Crystal lite can - I have some store brand here that has 4g of sugar per serving, so I guess it's a nono....
One more questions - where do beans really fall into this? ARe they considered a true lean protein or are they sometimes considered a starchy food?
Newbie question  I was given some whole wheat tortillas. The ingredient list says 100% whole wheat flour, canola oil, salt, baking powder. There are 28 carbs! per tortilla. I think that is really high. Would these tortillas be allowed in sugar busters. Also, are canned refried beans allowed. My books still have not come, so I am having to ask you guys. Thanks, Debi

Hey everyone...since I am home today I thought I would try and answer some of the questions on the board.
Song: Congrats on the breakthrough. You're going to be at goal before you know it!
Fitday is www.fitday.com (http://www.fitday.com) it is a tracking website for calories, nutrition, and other things. I don't know if you remember but I use www.dietwatch.com (http://www.dietwatch.com) and love it. Since I had been using dietwatch and had info since last september on there...I didn't change over when other on the board did. The good thing about fitday is you can let others on the board critique your food.
Answering the sourdough question: There is something in the process of making it sourdough that lowers the GI. There was a lengthy answer from the GI institute on a previous weeks post...but the bottom line is it is ok.
Answering the qeustions about carbohydrates. Look on the tips and tools board and you will see the % of carbs you are allowed in a day. On this WOE I never counted carbs but made sure that the sugar was not higher than 3g. So if the tortillas have less than 3g of sugar they should be fine.

Afternoon Everyone! :D
Figured I better get in a post before there are too many to respond to and it gets too late for me to do it. Afterwards, I'm going to start my baking of the Zuchinni Loaf Cake to take up with me tomorrow. Quiche came out great, I doubled the recipe so I could keep one here and had a piece for lunch. YUMMY.
NEWBIES Please do check out the informative boards we have (all links are in the very first post at the top of the first page). Many of the questions you have asked are already posted there - you'll find lots of good and useful info, and we add to it all the time.
VIV, sorry you weren't able to find the bread and Uncle Sams at WO. I was there today as well, and the one I go to isn't well managed and seems to always be out of items that I go there specifically for, which annoys me. Did you look for the EZEKIEL in the frozen food area?? That's where they keep it in the one I shop at. It has to be refrigerated/frozen. I would probably tell you to try and stay away from the smoothie-better to eat the fruits. An ounce of cashews is fine. I would tend to say that with a large salad, I'd probably only of had 4ounces of the chicken salad. You need to try and keep track of your daily intake, at least for a day or two just to see what you are taking in.
EBABE, the tortillas I get have 25 carbs and are about 8 1/2" in diameter. They have 5 grams of fiber in them. They are also fat free, so no oils. The ones you have sound okay. Find FF Refried Beans, they are delicious! I make bean burritos with low fat cheese, refried beans, lettuce, tomato, onions, yogurt cheese (in place of sour cream) and hot sauce from Taco Bell - yummy!!!
FINALLY, sounds like that soy is fine - enjoy!
BELINDA, go to the FOOD INFORMATION BOARD. Rosalie posted info on there that explains why sourdough is okay. I too take forever to go shopping, it's always a learning experience. I read EVERYTHING if I haven't bought it before.
SONGBIRD, that's wonderful the scale went down. Congrats! Your doing really well. Lots of inches gone off your little bod too!!! Fitday is a site that allows you to log your foods, exercise, journal, etc. It's wonderful and I thank OVERCOME for letting us know about it. Check it out at www.fitday.com (http://www.fitday.com)
Time for me to go bake - I'll check in later tonight!

Hi everyone :)
I've been trying to keep up reading the board even though I have not posted lately.
Dh is still in the hospital. He is fairly stable at the moment although he still is not taking any food by mouth - he is being fed by stomach tube. He probably will be transferred to a long term care facility soon. I would love to have him home again but he is now too difficult to take care of as he is unable to walk and can barely stand so it takes two persons to transfer him from bed to chair etc.
I can't respond to you all at this time but would like to welcome all the newbies. It is good to see so many new gals on the board.
Debbie, Gator, Big Orange I hope you all have a wonderful weekend together.
Debbie, I at last got to see the movie Billy Elliot. I thought it was a good movie. I really enjoyed it. The young girl, the daughter of the dance instructor, I think she was quite a character. Sorry to hear about your foot problems. I've had painful feet and it sure is not fun. Since I got my last orthotics they have improved and have been fine for a year or so. But I am very careful what shoes I wear. I hope you are enjoying reading The Glucose Revolution. I think it is a good source of information on the glycemic index - after all it is written by the authors that produced the GI Tables. I like to use it as a resource book although I would not follow their suggestions for losing weight as they recommend too many starchy carbs and if I remember correctly low fat meals. There are quite a few good recipes in the back of the book. I have made the beef and lentil patties which are good in pita bread or on a tortilla. I've also made the vegetarian lasagne which turned out good. You might be interested to read what they have to say about carrots. They consider carrots a free food for diabetics as they are so low in carbohydrates (6gms per 1/2 cup serving). I think it is odd that in the book they are listed with a gi of 49 but in SB they are given a gi of 80+. Sorry I haven't answered your e-mails yet but I hope to get to it soon.
Songbird, congratulations on breaking that plateau. I am glad to see you back posting again. I don't think "cheating" once a month should be a problem. We all need a treat once in a while and if this enables you/us to stick to this woe the rest of the time I'm all for it.
Ebabe, I don't think the amount of carbs in the tortillas would be a problem - the ones I use have 30 gms of carbs which is less than two slices of SGWW bread which has 36 gm - but it would be better if you could find some that are made with Stone Ground Whole Wheat flour. The regular whole wheat flour is more refined than the SGWW so would have a higher gi.
Viv, I don't think of beans as a starchy carb. I would consider them a lean protein. They are a good item to include in your meal plan as they are mainly low gi and full of fibre and a good source of protein. Montignac in his book suggests having meals with beans/lentils in place of meat several times a week would encourage weight loss.
I'm still stuck at 206 lbs. First hit this weight on Jan 17th after being stuck at 209 for about a month. I am losing VERY, VERY slowly. At least I am not gaining. Still get comments when I go to work. Everyone's quite impressed that I lost and never gained any back. So it's a good feeling to hear all the compliments. I've lost a total of 29 lbs but it has taken me over a year. I lose a little then just maintain for a while.
Frog, that was a great article about footwear. I think it is well worth the effort and cost to find shoes that are suitable and comfortable. As you say we only have one pair of feet to last us a lifetime. I think the kids to-day are lucky that they can wear shoes that are fashionable and comfortable. In my younger days the fashionable shoes were not very kind to the feet!
Belinda and Viv, there is an article about sourdough bread on the FOOD INFORMATION BOARD. It was posted on the 14th January. The article is headed "POWERFUL EFFECTS OF ACID ON G.I. etc. You might like to check it out.
Well it's time to think about getting some food on the table.
Have a good weekend everyone.
Marie :)

EVENING EVERYONE,
Just a quick note to check in with everyone!
Rosalie, glad to hear that your husband has stablized. It will be better for you in the long run for him to "recupe" somewhere other than home. I know it's hard to not have him there, but you will need all your strength when he does come home. Just don't let yourself get run down from all the running back and forth. It's easy to do. My mother was in the hospital last year for 38 days, and believe me, when she came home she felt great.....I WAS WORN OUT!!!!
The weather is getting crazy again here on the WEST COAST OF FLA...the temp has dropped and it will be 48 degrees in the morning when I start out for GATOR's...I talked to Deb a while ago and she's glad it's going to be cooler...I myself like the cool weather, but it has been just too darn cold here this winter for my liking. I'm not one to get chilled, but I'VE BEEN DOWN RIGHT COLD TO THE BONE!! I like it in the low 60's....
Orlando can be either the hotest place in the world, or the coldest...I just hope we hit a happy medium....
Sounds like everyone had a good day. BEACH,
I know you were glad to be home, but I'm sorry the "kiddos" were sick..My four legged "kiddo" had a bad allergy attack the other day and the trip to the VET was costly.
Skeeter is feeling much better though. They tested him for thyroid problems but found none (thank goodness), said he was just a FAT BOY!!! He's a standard size weiner dog, but weighs 33lbs! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif
Hope everyone has a good weekend...I know I'm going to enjoy mine!! Better get those panties packed... http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif

Hey Everyone!!!.....Been out of town for the last week so I'm trying to catch up with all the posts. I typed this real long reply last saturday just before we left and got disconnected with about two sentences left. I was so MAD!!!! Didn't have time to re-post. Lots of new folks, happy to have you all....I'm pretty new too, just trying to keep up with these gals....they are wonderful!!!
Haven't weighed myself this week so I don't know if I've actually lost anything but I'm feeling pretty good....I'll take it.
Hope you guys have a great time this weekend. We'll be waiting to hear about it.
Frog - Thanks again for another great Fitness Friday article.
I read something about "Survivor" in one of the posts....I too am a "Survivor" devotee....don't really know why, but they have sucked me in.
Talk to you guys tomorrow.....Sharon

IT's ME AGAIN :D
I was just lurking over at the LOW CARB board, and they have a real humdinger heating up!
Some of them of doing what some of us are, using both WW & SB...Evidently, someone who isn't a regular really BLASTED them about it.
To make a long story short http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif in a few of their posts, they included us as being a LOW CARB DIET....I sent them a post and told them what we were told. IT'S OUR THREAD AND WE DO WHAT WORKS>...I was polite, and told them that we weren't a LCD because we eat bread, cereal and fruit to name a few.
I did invite them to come over and visit.
SO, they may come, or they may not...It just really got me how someone came into THEIR SPACE on the board and blasted them like that.
Just another reason for us to count our blessings that we don't have problems like that here. THANK YOU SUPER CHICK FOR MAKING OUR LITTLE PIECE OF THE BOARD SO NICE!!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//love.gif

Well, it was supposed to be fairly warm today, up to 68-69. It got up to 68, but it was so damp and overcast that it felt like 30 degrees. The "cold" just went bone deep. I hope it is sunny tomorrow. It is always more fun to gad about when it is bright and cheerful. Debelli and Big Orange Babe will be here, so y'all think about us! :)
I'm glad Deb is bringing the dessert bread because the dessert I fixed is no good. I tried a recipe I got off the old Sweetalk board, and it is definitely not a keeper. So, I'll just bring out fresh strawberries.
For all of you on this board last April and May, when I was having my back yard redone, and a fish pond and waterfalls put into my back yard, I am also hoping that tomorrow will be nice so that Big Orange and Debelli will get to enjoy just a little of what I was grousing about last year. They had to listen to all the disasters that were happening in my yard, and now they will get to see the great results.
Got my 1.5 miles in tonight. Also, lifted the weights yesterday for 30 min. I think he is going to change my routine next week, so my muscles will get a jolt.
Gotta go. Have a great Saturday. We'll fill you in on our visit.

Wow, this sure is a busy board. I want to thank everyone for the friendly welcome!
I did get a copy of "potatoes not prozac" by Kathleen DesMaisons.
It talks about stabilizing your level of sugar in your blood, controling your cravings and losing weight AND recognizing how food effects the way you feel. It explains how to do this in a seven step program. If anyone wants more info. I'd be happy to share. It's very similiar to sugar busters BUT I want to apoloigize if mentioning another sugar sensitve program is taboo on this board. Just let me know so I can respect the focus of this board.
Deb.....thanks for sharing your personal experience with w.w. & sugar busters.
Big Orange Babe & Beachfun37...thanks for the comments and welcome.

Happy Friday evening! Wow, I'm late getting on today! You all have been very busy on here. Way to go!!!
I made the best supper tonight. Salmon patties (nothing unusual there). But then I made some brown rice that was fantastic. While rice was cooking, I sauteed red and green peppers, zuchinni, and mushrooms with some spices like garlic and onion powder and basic stuff. After rice was done, I added the veggies to the rice with a tiny bit of butter, some lite soy sauce (just a splash) and threw in some sunflower seed for crunch. Wow! It tasted really good. Just had to share.
Cathy H---I agree with RHROO . . . you really need to get that water in. Once you do, you will see a huge difference! I knew people who really struggled to drink all the water because they didn’t like water. I cannot relate because that’s about all I drink. But they really had to work to get it all down. They would add just a pinch of crystal light lemonade to their water to give it a tiny bit of lemony taste and that really helped.
RHROO---I can’t wait to hear what kind of comments you got at work tonight. It’s a wonderful feeling when people want to model your weigh loss. Sweet, sweet victories!!!!
JOY---Thanks for the spinach recipe. I LOVE creamed spinach!!!! Did you ever have Boston Market’s? Ooooo-la-la! Quite tasty.
FROG---The shoe article is great! Valuable advice that we all can use. Thanks for all the work you do to bring these articles to us. I feel blessed because we have a GREAT runner’s supply store in Cincinnati. The people who work there are really into fitness and know a lot about helping you figure out the proper size and what kind of foot you have. I went a couple of months ago to get a new pair of walking shoes. I had been wearing size 9 shoes for as long as I can remember. After getting properly measured, they said I should be wearing a 10. What a fit! And how great do they feel. Very supportive with no rubbing. I can relate to what you said about wasting tons of money on the wrong shoes. I’ll gladly go to the experts now and spend more money to get the right shoes for me.
VIV---Oprah calls them “a-ha” moments! Sounds like you had one. I can’t stand drs with attitudes. All that book learning and they can’t even be polite. I’m blessed with a wonderful dr. (woman, of course).
SONG---AWESOME!!! You have broken the barrier. Way to work, woman!!! You must feel terrific. Keep it up! Those inches are just falling away from you.
Have a great weekend everybody. Hey, ORANGE, you are cracking me up lurking on another board and then coming to report to us. Very good work. Good thing you were there to straighten them out and keep our good name where it should be. Ha!
I had another yummy drink today that was like a liquid candy bar. It was called a Chai Tea Latte. I used S&L so I'm pretty sure it was SB legal. So tasty. Have a try the next time you are out at a coffee bar.
Take it easy, everybody.

IT'S ONLY ME AGAIN
One more time before I recline!
GATOR...I can't wait to get there, should we bring our THONGS?
The wind has really picked up over here, and I think I saw a "peecickle" when I took Skeeter out a while ago
All kidding aside, it's gonna be a wonderful day...and I just wish everyone else could be there with us...see you in a few hours!
JAN...don't worry about posting anything "taboo" on THIS BOARD....we talk about everything. We incorporate a lot of different things into our WOE...so anything you've got to share...BRING IT ON :D
QUILTER, I LOVE SALMON PATTIES, SALMON STEAKS, SALMON FILLETS....****, I LOVE SALMON http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif That rice sounds heavenly..I will be sure to try it and let you know how it turned out!
We have Chai Tea in the grocery here...I bet if you look at KROGER, you can find it. I haven't looked at the label, so I don't know if it's legal or not..It's in a carton (qt I think) square like soy milk. KROGER....GAWD I MISS KROGER!!!!!
BigOrange: I went over and read the post on the LC board. I agree with you...Thank You DEB for our piece of heaven and the much needed support http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//love.gif
JanCan: We talk about ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING ON THIS BOARD so never hesitate to bring up new things. On this WOE we all have tried many different things. Some of us have read Montignac, Glucose Revolution, Atkins, CALP...I even have read the Greenwich diet which is where you drink protein shakes and limit most of your carbs to veggies. Nothing is off limits. The other thing you will notice is that we all have made SB work for our lifestyles. I like to say I am a moderate SBer. I eat the moderate GI foods, buy my food from the regular store, and eat 3 starchy carbs a day. This worked for me but won't work for everyone. So the idea is to find the WOE that is right for you and we are suppose to support you in that  So welcome to the board and tell us everything you learn about different WOE...Oh and by the way you may not know this but my DR recommended SB becuase of my depression, and high blood sugar. I didn't have to go on Prozac and my mood and depression has been controlled through my diet. So I may be going to get a copy of that book this weekend...or do my favorite trick of letting the kids shop the mall while I sit in Barnes and Noble reading.
Gator: I'm green with envy that I won't get to see your pond, new kitchen and all the other wonderful things you have done to your house. Also, if you are fixing the ratatouille JUST don't tell me I'll be missing that too! Have fun and the next time I am in Tampa, I will get over to meet you in person.
Quilter: A known secret on this board is that I am not much of a cook. If it has 3 or more ingredients then the recipe is too hard for me...BUT I loved the rice and added vegetable idea. Thanks for sharing it. Lately, I have actually been cooking better and more often. I've become more creative in the kitchen and more efficient...like cooking up big batches of different foods my family will eat.
Hey guys, this weekend while Deb, BigOrange and Gator are gone...let's keep the board up! For the newbies you are doing such a good job of keeping on track and supporting each other...Keep up the good work.

Hi everyone-
WOW this board is BUSY!!!! I've been reading most all the posts. Doesn't it just give you a wonderful feeling to know that there are others out there with the same questions, feelings, slumps, and triumphs?? It is a great source of positive reinforcement for me. Thanks to you all.
I too have been keeping up with Fitday.com It really doesn't take long to enter my food at all! I have to do some estimating, and sometimes what I ate is not actually on there so I have to find a comparable substitute, but overall I think it is a great tool.
I had an aversion to veggies this week. I am not a big veggie eater to begin with but since starting SB I have made a conscious effort to eat more. This week, I just couldn't do it...I ate about one veggie a day. I do love the red leaf lettuce. It is so hearty. I'm sure there's not a whole lot of substatial nutrients, but I figure anything dark green must be good.
I'm sure you FLA girls are going to have a great time together. How nice that you are able to meet up. Have fun fun fun!
Maybe this weekend I'll be able to catch up and respond to individuals.
Good night-

Good morning!!!
I have to say I'm a bit envious of those meeting this weekend. Anyone on the west coast that might want to try a get-together??
I picked up a copy of "Fit and Trim" at the grocery store yesterday. It's got a wonderful-sounding recipe that I'm going to post on the recipe board, untried, and then I'm going to give it a whirl this evening.
Also, a couple tips:
FISH: "Varieties rich in omega-3 fatty acides -- tuna, mackerel, cod, and salmon -- may help you drop pounds by improving fat metabolism. Overweight people who ate a reduced-calorie diet that included fish every day lost about 20% more weight than fish-free diets.
Now, I'm not sure about fish EVERY day, but even 2-3 times a week would probably help.
WATER: Dehydration can slow your metabolism by 3%. At a weight of 150 lb, that would be about 45 fewer calories burned a day -- which could mean 5 extra lb a year.
I'm also going to post these on the TIP board!
I grilled a salmon filet on my GF grill last night. I was in salmon heaven. It's my fish of choice. And then I read that tip about fish, and was in salmon heaven again!!!
Off to post the recipe!!!
Healthy Hugs,
Connie

Good Saturday Morning everyone. I am off to Minneapolis for some shopping and to go to a meeting for my hubby's work. They include dinner and if I can talk him into it dancing.
Gator...it was funny to read your post about being so cold. It was 21 BELOW zero here yesterdaymorning. We will have a balmy 21 degrees above zero today. When we hit March I start to think about walking outside and them my two dogs love me.
Who all is oidng Weight Watchers and SB? I have thought of that as an easier way to limit my food intake. Does it work for you?
Take care I will check in Sunday.

Hi all- what a great board we have here. I welcome all my fellow newbees - having been on and off the board since just before new year's eve I can tell you this is a great group of women who will go to no end to support us. The "Queen Mum", Debbie, is just the best.
Well, I have a quiet week - managed to eat breakfast (Uncle Sam's cereal- I bought some flax seed at the health food store and even added some to my cereal- they all seem to fall to the bottom of the box ) and pack a lunch for myself. That lunch seems to be the key for me. I made a couple hard boiled eggs and bought some tuna packed in water - made a "sort of"salad with some mayo and had ryevita crackers with my choice each day. A piece of fruit was my snack. So I made it through the week.
Thanks to all you wonderful ladies, I've been picking up tips along the way. Dinner isn't too bad to plan for and my evening snack is usually cheese and triscuits. (Love those things)
I think I can manage this weekend cause I'll be pretty busy - the ususal wash, clean, etc., etc., but also we have decided to have our floors refinished so that means that between now and March 5th, the living, dinning, two bedrooms all have to be completely packed up and moved out to the garage. I just want to know how can two people accumulate such a mass of "stuff" in just a few years living in a home? I also have to pray that we don't get any massive snow storms because we'll never get the snow blower into the garage once all the furniture is in there. Think I jumped the gun a little on the timeline - but I wanted it all done by Easter. So, the good news is that I figure I won't have time to be eating with all this work ahead of me for the
month!
Well- gotta go and get started- put it off long enough for today.
Have a wonderful weekend and stay healthy.
Thanks again to all you "Chicks" for the great support.
P.s. for those of you lucky ladies meeting in Florida today- have a great time!!!!!!!

DONNA, yesterday I just decided it would be so much easier for me to combine SB with WW. This way I am eating the healthy foods without the sugar junk that WW seems to ignore, PLUS WW would serve as a portion control tool. I prefer the old exchange plan to the new 1-2-3 points system. Whaddathink? I think some other folks are also combining sb/ww. I am so excited at the idea of this combo. regards, FINALLY (you can email me at finallylosin@aol.com if you want.) :)

I considere doing the WW 1-2-3 along with the SB, but since I've been posting on www.fitday.com, (http://www.fitday.com,) I'm finding that helps me keep my calories down. I'm working at keeping them under 1800 a day which is a nice healthy loss for me (1-2 pounds a week). My goal is to reach goal by Dec 31st, and I can do it this way. Recording my food certainly keeps me aware!!!! ;)

Doing well with the change towards lowering my sugar intake. I actually had to remember to eat dinner the other day. A first for me, I tell ya.
Big Orange Babe... Excellent, nice to hear of the openness to exploring different ideas.
Quilter...Thanks for the rice recipe. Sounds amazing! I know what I'm having for dinner tonight.
Beachfan 37...Wow, and I thought I had seen it all. I haven't even heard of the Greenwich diet! I asked my doctor about this theory of the relationship of sugar senitive and depression and she thinks I'm on the right track. Can't do any harm, eh? Sounds like you have a informed doctor to recommend SB. Happy shopping and let me know what you think about the book. I haven't done the potatoe before bed suggestion yet, if you decided to I'd be interested in your experience with it. Happy shopping. :)

Happy Saturday Everyone :D
It is a beautiful sunny 50 degrees here today so I can't wait to get out for my walk. I have a couple of interesting theories I thought I woul share with everyone. Now mind you it is my theory and not proven BUT you may benefit from my experiences:
When I started SB I was not excercising. I started walking regularly last March. During the Spring, Summer and most of the Fall until the time change walking was my only form of excercise with some weightlifting thrown in 2 times a week. I lost weight steadily. When it became so cold here and the time change occured, I started doing aerobics tapes at home. Well I didn't lose weight as steadily as before. Matter of fact in Nov and Dec I somewhat plateaued and went up and down a lot. Since it has been warmer and I can walk about 2 times a week plus do aerobics the other 3 days mixed with strength training I have really seen a drop in my weight. I am 137 and on the first of Jan. I was 146. I believe the walking combined with the aerobics has really worked. Several articles that I have read said just like with food your body will hit a set point and if you do not change up your excercise then your body will stop responding to it. So my advice is to excercise 5 days a week and make sure it is doing different types of excercise :D
Overcome: In the Self magazine they were talking about a pill that has the vitamins you get from eating veggies. I know for some people veggies are hard. You may want to look into this pill and have 3 fruits a day instead of 2 if you can't get your veggies in. Everything I have read said if you just can't eat veggies to substitute an orange or apple. Oranges and apples are good for you, not too high in calories and not have natural fruit sugars. They are low to moderate on the GI scale too. I know there are a lot of times that the thought of another salad does me in and I will reach for a fruit instead
Donna: We southern girls are use to 100+ degree heat. Today the low was 18...brr. I froze my (you know what) off. Our clothes are just not made for that kind of weather. Most of my suits, dresses, pants etc. are made of cotton...wool is very rare! I will really be freezing when I go walking today and it is 50 degrees :D
Joy: You inspired me to go get some salmon and cook it in my GF grill. Did you here about the prison escape here this past week? Some administrator decided that guards in the guard towers were not needed because there was an electric fence. The convicts figured out how to raise the fence with wooden brooms. They caught them in Tenn. Guess what? They have guards in the guard towers again...some of the ones who escaped were very ruthless killers. I really think about you alot when I hear you have been working. Take care of yourself! Oh and a tip about the water. If you are dehydrated you may eat more because you think you are hungry when you are really thirsty.
Beerlady: I feel for you on getting your floors done. It was the worth it but we lived in the biggest mess for 3 months. Good luck and glad you are doing well on SB.
Finally: I had done WW in the past and used the knowledge of portion control that I had learned there to help me on SB. I agree with Joy. If you log your food on fitday or on dietwatch you may not need to follow WW but I would try both and do what works best for you.
Jan: The Greenwich diet was just way way too stringent. And I wanted to eat my protein and not drink it :D That is just much more statisfying to me. Yes, it was my GYN who was so with it. She is absolutely the best. All of her patients wait hours in the waiting room for her because we know that when we see her she will spend as much time as we need talking and she will ask the questions that most doctors don't. Like how are you feeling, are you stressed, do you ever get blue etc. Her husband died from cancer and she is also the most thorough. I have been going to her for 11 years and wouldn't change for the world. Glad you are doing so well on SB.
Well guys have a wonderful, happy SB day!

Hi All - We're in between hockey games but I just had to come on for a second (gosh, this board is so active!) and share some more of my "A-ha!" moment!
I read the diabetes section in the book last nite, which I skipped over previously because I am not diabetic. Boy, was it worth reading! On Page 83, it says "Although gestational diabetes is temporary, it does indicate a tendency for the mother to be susceptible to Type II diabetes. Over time, 50 to 70 percent of gestational diabetics develop Type II diabetes."
I'm going to call the Doctor on Monday and request a blood test. I want to see if the levels are borderline elevated. This is amazing....
I avoided my scale today, trying to stay off it until WIW!!!
I'll try to read all the posts and hop on again this weekend, but I just had to share that info with all of you - maybe someone else had the same type of pregnancy?
Good Saturday everyone!! Hope you girls in Fla. are having a great visit. I went for a walk/run with my sister today we had fun in the slush. Kind of a boring Saturday. Sometimes these are nice.
Everyone sounds like they are doing great this week hope the scales show it. I have decided to write a weight loss book! LOL :D I went to work last night-not everyone who works there is back but a couple of girls who Never talk to me said "all right we want to know how you lost all that weight"! I think i could make some good money! LOL I also have alot of funny storys about other things that have happened to my best friend and I during our weigh loss journey! LOL Another woman that works with me and actually started Weight Watchers with me but quit just kept saying "look how beautiful she looks-i could have looked like that too"! LOL She is an older woman with health problems i just wanted to shake her!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//spinning.gif I am sure i will have many more storys to tell next week! LOL
BOB-i expected to have a rush of newbies here today after your post on the LC page! LOL you are to funny!
Beach-I just read about mixing up the exercise in Corbert Baileys new book i forget the name! LOL but he said to do two different excersises also. I just started with the weights and i hope to see some results. I don't sweat as much with the weights but i guess your not suposed too! I need to work on this tummy and legs -thats where the last 10 lbs (that everyone says i don't need to lose!) is. I want to get some ab excersises with the weights -i might get a little 6 pack going! LOL The week i lost almost 5 lbs (two weeks ago) was the first time i walked and did the step aerobics together sooooooo something is up! Last week i walked 2 days and did aerobic the others but with the TOM and a fun week i gained 1 lb hope this week shows more results! I need a boost!!!!
Keep up the great work everyone!!! I will be lurking probably no time to post now that i am working again and a walking zombie.

Good Evening All~
It has been a good day here. The weather isn'ty exactly warm yet, but the snow id dwindling! I'm excited...
I'm doing well haven't had a craving for candy or even chocolate.I did buy some of that carnation hot chocolate today. Maybe I'll have a cup later. I was wondering about the soy milk and all that is in the coffee aisle. Is it any good? I mean taste wise? What would you do with it? Just use it on cereal? Sorry I'm just not up on that sort of stuff. They did have some (I think) vanilla milk? Not sure now. Anyway any info would be appreciated.
Have a "Wonderful" evening. I'll check back later :)

Hey, Gals!
Brrrr, it was so cold here today! But the sun was out strong and the skies were such a beautiful shade of blue. That makes it all bearable!
Glad so many of you liked my rice idea. I'll be interested to know how you like it when you try it.
Confession time: Today when I woke up from a nap I wanted cake. Now that's the first time I've had a craving like that in well over a month. I tried to do the 20 minute denial. And that didn't help. So I went snooping in the freezer and found a loaf of sweet bread from my neighbor. Darn it! Anyways, I have to confess that I had two slices with a big glass of milk. Part of me feels really bad that I did that. But then again, part of me realizes that this is the FIRST non SB thing I've eaten since we started on January 2. So anyways, I just felt the need to "come clean." Feel free to give me a good wrist slapping if need be.
RHROO--I tried to use your link to your friend's web page, but couldn't get it to work. I even copy and pasted the address and nothing happened. Don't know if anybody else had that problem. Could be me . . . I'm on a mac.
Hey FL chicks and chick-lets and super chick . . . did I tell you that we are headed there on March 7? DH and I are taking a week off and visiting my niece and her fiance. We're flying into Tampa. Wish I could meet up with some of you.
Have a great evening gals. Keep up the work. We are all awesome!

Hi all. I'm still out here, just haven't been posting. About the only time I've gotten on the pooter was to check EBAY auctions. I'm trying to get a Sega Dreamcast for my son's ninth birthday on the 12th. I've been feeling very crappy every single day. Not sick, just nauseous. Like morning sickness, only I know it is NOT MS. The GYN put me on birth control pills again and I think they are a stronger dosage. GOT to get those boogers changed. Every time I feel gross, I eat a little carb and it helps for awhile. SO...I know I'm getting too many carbs. My weight has been flucuating between 218-220. Can't stomach drinking water, and I HAD been drinkng a gallon a day.
My husband leaves for Boston on Monday to find us a place to call home while we are there, then comes back Thursday, and leaves again on Saturday, the 10th. We will follow as soon as the movers do their thing.
Well, I guess I've done enough belly-aching for tonight. I hate to sound so bummed. OH, I CAN give a little good news. I tried on my mini-goal jeans, and they FIT!! The numbers aren't showing it, but the jeans are. SO, THAT's  !!
Things are going to get real busy for me, so I may not get to post. Hopefully I can check the board and read the good things going on with ya'll.

Hello everyone. I haven't been on the boards in quite some time, so wanted to check in and say hi. I've been so discouraged because my weight hasn't budged since Dec. 19th. But finally, FINALLY, this week I dropped 6 1/2 pounds. :D It was getting hard to hang in there, but I did, and am reaping the rewards now. I've lost a total of 31 1/2 pounds since Sept. 5, 2000, so I'm pleased with that. I'm going to try very hard to remember this experience the next time I hit a major plateau! I'm finally noticing my clothing getting baggier and have been able to fit into things that have been off limits for some time. No one has noticed my weight loss (other than hubby and mom), but that's ok. When you have a lot to lose that's to be expected I suppose.
I've been sick with a cold for a week now, and it just doesn't want to go away :( My eneregy is nil, and I haven't tasted the flavor of ANYTHING for 7 days. It's driving me crazy! I thought I was better after a few days, and went full out into my usual routine, so I think I had a relapse. Bummer.
You all have a good upcoming week! I'm anxious to hear how the get together went. I'm sure they had a blast :)

Hello everyone-
beachfan37...thanks for the info on the veggie pill and for your support. It's a matter of me having lots of different veggies in the house and getting someone else to prepare them. When I have to prepare them and then eat them, they are not as appealing. Strange but true! Lucky for me my husband's hobby is gourmet cooking...he'll make something good with those veggies.
Speaking of my DH, he made ww waffles for me this morning. They were GREAT!!! Only 1 tbls of sugar (I'm sure you could substitute splenda). The recipe made 8 large waffles (he has an old fashioned waffle iron that goes right on the gas burner on the stove) which translates to 1.5 g of sugar per waffle. I can live with that. I ate two with some butter and Log Cabin no sugar syrup. HEAVEN!! Of course I wouldn't eat them every day or even every weekend, but once a month is something to look forward to! I am going to freeze the rest of the waffles. I'm so proud of him for adapting his recipe so beautifully to work with 100% SG WW flour. I'll post on the recipe board.
I have a few questions about some foods, but I have to get my thoughts organized before I post them. One question I have is about Ice Cream. ANy brands that are SB legal that can be found in the regular grocery store? I received a GI index from the Diabetes Association and they list ice cream with a gi value of something like 34. That's rather low isn't it? Any thoughts on this?
We're expecting a big snow tonight which probably means no school tomorrow. I'll be able to rubber stamp and clean house :o)
Off to post the waffle recipe. I'll be back later to read everyone's post. So glad so many people are sharing their experiences. I love reading them, even if I can't post to everyone!!!

Hello all you chicks and chick-lets. Are you curious about how we are doing here in FLA.-- Debelli, Big Orange Babe, and GatorGal? Well, here's the news:
Deb and Big Orange got to my house about 12 noon. We had talked via e-mail earlier in the week about trying to get to the Winter Park Farmer's Mkt. because they have a vendor there that sells sugar free stuff, like ice cream made with splenda, etc. But the market closes at 1 and we were running too late to get there. Eli and a friend of Deb's came up with her and they went to the mall (actually, they got lost trying to find the mall, about 5 minutes from my house! LOL) while Big Orange, Deb and I had lunch and yakked about all things SB. Big Orange brought two booklets she had just received from Glycemic.com with approved and non-approved foods, questions with answers, etc. and we had a good time eating lunch and sharing recipes, comparing notes, etc.
Lunch menu:
Chicken paprikash (Gator's recipe)
Green beans southern style (Big Orange's recipe)
Crustless quiche (Deb's recipe)
Hummus and pita (Deb)
Zucchini bread (Deb's recipe)
It was all very tasty, and we "chowed" and drank our water. Glug. Glug.
About 3 p.m. when Eli and Deb's friend returned, we hit the big HFS here and spent about 30-40 minutes combing the aisles. Then we went to Whole Foods, a gourmet HFS and hit the aisles there. Big Orange bought some stuff to take back home with her. We did not find Agave nectar at Whole Foods like we were hoping, so we got them to order some. We found 70% cocoa chocolate bars at Whole Foods, and several were purchased. I shall not tell who bought!
From there we went to a couple of outlet malls near Deb's and Orange's hotel and then finally to Outback's where we ate about 9:30 p.m. The big surprise was that Barbee and her husband joined us for dinner. Yea! The wedding was over and all guests had gone, so they were free to drive down, about one hour away. Barbee had grilled chicken for dinner, along with steamed veggies. Big Orange and Deb had grilled salmon with sweet potato, and I had ceasar salad with grilled shrimp (5) -- dressing on the side!-- and a small lobster tail.
It was a very fun day. The weather was somewhat overcast and damp, slightly windy so it felt rather cold. It is the same today. We all went out and looked at the fish pond in my back yard, and even fed the fish. But it was too cold to linger there very long. Big Orange did very well despite all the gator stuff I have in my home. LOL
Beach, you'd have loved it! We talked about how much fun it would be to have you here as Big Orange, you and I could talk SEC sports. BTW you would have LOVED the beans Big Orange Fixed! Really southern tasting but w/o the bacon or pork fat. She used Wylies pea and bean seasoning she gets in the produce section at Publix. Then pressure cooks pole beans for 20 minutes and voila! southern style beans.
I got home about 11:30 p.m last night and was too pooped to post. So, here are the main details. Deb will probably post some pictures somewhere. She and Big Orange will give you other details with a different slant. Our time yesterday was fun, and they are both precious ladies. Big Orange is a real southern girl, with Tenn. still running in her veins. Deb is southern in geography, but Miami is somewhat a northern city in "feel." We recommend these get-togethers for those of you who live close, and, hopefully, we'll get to do it again, especially when the weather is warmer.

Hi! I have been posting on another board but lurking here for a while. It seems that you all are so positive and supportive of each other and since I have been floundering around trying to lose this weight doing my own thing, I decided to buy Sugar Busters and check it all out. Well, if it is ok with all of you I would love to join you. I am going grocery shopping tomorrow to stock my kitchen with Sugar Buster things.
I have read my book, but I think it might be a different one than the one all of you have. I didn't read in there anywhere about the 40% carbs, 30% fat and 30% protein that was mentioned in one of the posts. And in the book I have it mentions an earlier book. It does give you the list of approved foods and the foods that you should ignore. I have been reading all of the different tips you have given and recipies, etc. I am excited.
I started on my own the first of November at 287 and am at 274.5 now.

CHERIANNE---WELCOME!! It's a little quiet on here tonight, so I thought I'd send you a "hey" and a "glad you are with us". I've been on the board for a couple of weeks now and LOVE IT!! These women are so amazing. I've never met such a positive group in my whole life. Everyone really cares about each member. So anyways, rest easy. Your questions will all be answered and hopefully, you will enjoy the SB WOE. I've struggled with cravings for so many years. And they are finally gone.

Evening Everyone..HOME AGAIN...HOME AGAIN...
DID WE EVER HAVE A GOOD TIME IN ORLANDO!!!
Those of you who live close enough to each other to do this, should BY ALL MEANS!
Deb and I both go on the road a little later than we intended, so that put us behind in arriving at GATOR'S house. We had a really nice lunch (I'll spare you themenu again), and sat around chatting like we had know each other for years!
GATOR'S house is great! BEACH you would love her new kitchen, and the pond and waterfalls are beautiful. SHE HAS PET FISH!! We fed them while we were out there, but not before I spilled the FISH FOOD!!
The food stores that we went to were really nice. I bought some ground sun dried tomatoes that ELI suggested. He adds other spices to them and uses them in HIS cooking. Deb suggested the WHOLE FOODS brand of triscuits, and with a little "doctoring" up, they will be special.
Ummmmmmm, this chocolate I bought is wonderful! It tastes like chocolate covered espresso beans to me...Yes, like Gator said, I BOUGHT SEVERAL!!
Barb and George are wonderful. I can't believe they just hopped in the car and came over for dinner after the busy day they had with the wedding. AND YES..she is just as direct in person as she is on the board! YOU ALL WOULD LOVE HER...If you ever get down to her "neck of the woods" and don't call her, IT'S YOUR LOSS!!!
We have made ELI and honorary "ROOSTER" member of the board. deb will post his picture so you all can meet him. Her friend Sharon is a SUPER person. She is doing really good on SB's and I've told her that she needs to join us here on the board.
I just can't begin to tell you what a GOOD TIME I had this weekend...CAN'T WAIT TO DO IT AGAIN...
Our trip over to MT DORA was very nice...wet, but nice...Donna...IT WAS DOWN RIGHT COLD OVER THERE!! The wind was blowing in off the lake, there was a steady drizzle all day, and the temperature was FRIGID.. The craft show was very interesting, but the little shops that they have there are BEYOND WORDS..
Well everyone, MY OLD BUTT IS DRAGGING..I'm going to recline and relax..the SUPER CHICK walked my cheeks into the ground today. I'm sure that she will be posting something later. They were making another stop before going on to Miami.
Talk to everyone tomorrow... I did this over, and it isn't as complete as i would like it to be....as I remember what I had down...I'll relay it on to everyone...

I just read this little message I found on the main SB board up in the top left corner from Suzanne. They are changing over to a new type of forum or something and it said most old posts will be removed. Does this mean all our recipes board, bio board, etc?? Thought I should mention it.

HI everyone,
Did all have a good weekend???
I am so glad that the girls had a great time in Orlando and I am sorry that I was not able to join them even though I am only 2 1/2 hours away from there. I haven't written in a while, but have been reading all the post and glad all had a good week.
Deb, I had a hheel spur that got so bad that after three injections I have the surgery and then had to have two more injections. BUt my surgery cut the ligiment across the bone, not shaving the bone. It was a painful ordeal, and I am so gla that I have not had any problems in over a year, and I can be a good testamony in the fact that it comes down to the right shoe. I finally found a pair of new balance that were just what I needed and have had them for 10 months now. This is unheard of for me, my sneakers usually only last a couple of months.
Cheriann.....Welcome, it is so go to see you here. I am glad to found this thread and that things are going good for you.
I hope that all has a good Monday, I will...I am on vacation. Laurie

Good Morning~
Its early here. I'm supposed to be getting ready for work, but I just had to stop in for a quick moment.
Well the SB plan is going well. I need to get more veggies and fruit in.I have trouble squeezing the fruit in on account of the 1/2 hr before or 2 hrs after. Do any of you ever just have fruit for lunch? I do love the stuff but I don't want to eat it at the wrong time. I'm hoping to see a rather large loss here soon. I've been on the plan for 1 week and only managed to drop 1/2 pound. Any suggestions?
