I joined a group of people determined to lose 10pounds by June 1st, however, instead of losing, i gained 3pounds, i am determined to remain focused and lose all the excess weight i'm carrying around one at a time.

I'm challenging myself to lose 10pounds by July 1st, i will weigh in on fridays to monitor my progress, you're invited to join in if you're interested.

I'm in this is my goal for June. I initially said I'd go for 9lbs but that would leave me at 170 and I don't want to see the "7" unless it is 167. :)

My weigh in day is Tuesday

but today's weigh in 179.0 up .2 from yesterday to be accountable

I've never actually lost 10lbs in a month but I seriously need to get this weight off... so why not try? Let's see if I can actually stay on plan 100% this month and do it. :D

I do daily weighing but just for the sake of keeping this more organized I'll just make Weds the official weigh-in day.

I don't think I've lost 10 in a month either but I need some serious motivation. It is going to be tough because I will be out of town for at least 8 days this month. So far I have started the month of June out right though, all 13 hours of it :D

Hi all!
Brand new to 3FC today. My start date is Sunday for eating healthier so I'm in for losing 10 lbs in June! I think losing weight in smaller increments is more manageable. I'll weigh in on Wednesdays. :)

Donna I live on here it seems. When I'm not on during the day (when everyone is out) or late evening I usually eat what I have no business, but I have learned from experience to check in often and just join in on any thread that I can relate to.

I don't think I've lost 10 in a month either but I need some serious motivation. It is going to be tough because I will be out of town for at least 8 days this month. So far I have started the month of June out right though, all 13 hours of it :D

Ditto! So far so good. I've been out of exercising for a little over a week now due to being sick. I was hoping to start again sooner but this thing just won't go away. :dz: Today's the first day that I really feel better and, of course, it's the day I have to work late out of the week, here's hoping I still manage enough energy for a workout tonight! :crossed:

Jelma I lost 12.2lbs when I first started June 2010. I'm sure it was by cutting out all sweets, soda and fried food. I counted calories and started walking and back then I could barely do two laps around the track before I felt like my heart was coming out of my chest. Now I think (know) I'm just being lazy and making excuses, even though it's really hot out already. We can do this :)

I'll join. Since I'm heavier than most of you gals, I have been losing faster. As I'm getting lower in weight, I'm sure I'm close to getting to the point that 10 pounds a month is about the max I can do. I had said elsewhere 8, but I'll join for 10. What's the worst that can happen if I only lose 8?

I weigh daily, but can do weekly check-ins if that works for you all.

Starting 6/1/11 with a 3 pounds whoosh which I sure hope sticks!

While I realize that 10 pounds at this point is incredibly unlikely, I'm going to give it a try. I need a kick in the butt to get as close to goal as possible before my husband and I start trying to get pregnant... which should be right about the end of this challenge. :dizzy:

Hi, I'd like to join in too. I'm kinda old, new, was on here before and lost the weight, but had baby # 2 and need to lose about 15lbs still..... 3 years later...
So, I started last week and will include that in the 10 lbs, I know I can't do 10lbs in a month. So it's going to be 10 lbs in 5 weeks. I also weigh more often than once a week, but I'll post my weight on Wednesdays.

(I plan to workout as much as possible, drink water, stick to my calorie plan, no binge eating, no emotional eating, etc.) :dancer:

Final count: Well, it's July 1 and I now weigh 162.3 which means that I lost 6 lbs. this month. It's not the 10 I was hoping for, but I'm still retaining water and waiting for my monthly event so I think that will help me lose another lb. or so, which I'm really happy about! :) I'm glad I signed up for this challenge...it was a good motivator! :)

Tiffany, it's up to everyone to have a plan and stick with it since we have different diet plans but a common goal which is to lose weight and be healthy.
For me, i'm on carbohydrate addict's diet (CAD) plan, it's worked for me but i lost focus so i intend to be focused and i started walking since June 1st which i think will help.
I've never lost 10pounds in a month but i know if i aim for the sky, i might get the tree top rather than aiming for the tree top and getting the floor.

I weigh daily too, but I take my Friday weight as my "official" weight for the week. So we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Tiffanylee, my diet is pretty healthy on a daily basis, so what I intend to do is cut down on portion size, do away with junky evening treats (which are my real failing) and increase my exercise levels.

I'm pretty excited about this month.

Icelandgirl, it will be nice if we encourage one another by posting not only our weights but alsop posting what we are doing, what we're going through and how it's going, someone might gain from what you're going through or even have an advise to encourage or keep the next person on track.

We can also weigh in anytime we want, if you like, weigh in daily if it'll help you better, it's our forum not mine, i'm just a lady trying to keep the weight off and willing to use whatever encouragement i can get out there. So we are all moderators.

I have posted my weight but i am just doing low calorie. I have found that when my calories include bread its not as fast so im attempting to cut out my lunchtime sandwich (wholemeal) but I am finding myself pretty hungry all the time, is this normal? I am doing about 1300 cals a day, any more and the scale will barely budge so any advice?

Marchmallow, i'm in your boat too, i've not been losing much lately, i think we should do things differently from what we've been doing before to get different/better results. Here are some of the things i'm doing since June 1st:

* I have started walking, try to walk briskly for 45minutes daily after dinner, i expect it to help
* I'm consciously drinking plenty of water, i just got a 1.5litre bottle, it's on my desk and i task myself to finish the water in the bottle before lunch (12noon) and finish another round before close of work (4.30pm). It's very difficult and i pray i stick to it
* I have consciously made a pledge to stop binging, so help me God
* I'm reading all i can lay my hands on on healthy living

I'm sure we all have ideas, let's all post it so people can imbibe our safety habit or advise us if we're doing anything wrong

Ugh, I never made it to my workout after a late night at work yesterday. Coming home the traffic was horrible (we think there was a game or something) and there were police everywhere directing traffic and whatnot. I ended up getting home much later than expected and missed seeing DD before she got into bed. :cry:

However, I made a point to get to bed early so I would have energy today to get a good workout in (I'm about to go downstairs and get at it! :D ). My eating was great and I'm working on increasing my protein because that's really what keeps me from binging/eating crap.

When I came home last night I was checking what we had to eat and it turns out DH bought a massive dark chocolate bar. Sigh... but I was good and just ignored it and ate some beef instead. The only problem with beef is eating it at night makes the scale look bad the next day (it takes my body awhile to digest) but it kept me away from that chocolate! :D

I'll join. I don't believe I've ever lost 10lbs a month when I was under 200 but it's worth a shot, and it would be awesome to do it because it would put me 0.1 under my LAW.

I am cutting down my portions and eating more protein and less carbs, which is difficult when the only meat you eat is fish, so I'm eating a lot of fish, a salad every night and not binge eating in the evening, which is also my big problem. Just trying to be more aware of what is going in my mouth. I don't have an exercise plan, so busy. I have two girls and work in a daycare, so I'm fairly active during the day, never sitting down. Fridays I have karate and that's about it for an exercise routine. Kudos for all of you who do regular exercise! I'm pretty proud of myself, it's been a week and I've been pretty good, usually I last a day. I think it will help to have support on here.

Other sources of protein - soy (tofu and tempeh), nuts, barilla plus pasta (though that also has carbs), eggs, cheese.

Atkins and some Think Thin bars have a lot of protein without a lot of carbs and then there is whey powder (check to make sure it's not full of sugar).

MaryOjo I love your attitude and motivation to support each other. I'm also trying to drink at least 2l of water a day and finding it so hard. I think it makes such a difference though, it's worth it!

Hang in there, it could be a number of things...

I do daily weighing and today I weighed-in at 190.9, which is over a 1lb higher than normal but I've lost another 0.5 inches just from yesterday. Weird fluctuations can definitely happen.

I actually fit into a size 4 dress!!! At Ann Taylor!!! (Although, I'm pretty sure its more of a size 6.)

Oh well, all I want is thin thighs!!! And calves.

Ok, I'm joining this one :) Love to see all the support!

I made a bet with a friend several months ago and put up quite a bit of cash... winner is the one who loses the most percentage. Of course I made the bet and then promptly decided "I have plenty of time" but now the deadline is July 3rd and she's at 10% and I'm at 4.5%... oops! I don't think there's any way I can beat her as I'd need to lose 15 pounds just to tie her. So, my goal is 15 pounds but more realistically I'm looking at 8-10. Good luck all!

Good to see so many joining in. I slipped a bit today, had a small muffin and an ice coffee (with 1% milk) I did, however, go to karate and ate a giant salad for dinner. Now I just need to hold out until bed without snacking...hmmm.

Hello All, I had a great weigh in this morning 176.2 I did really well yesterday but today was different. Too much time on my hands and running around so a lot snacky today. I usually don't do well on the weekends at all. I am so trying to cut that out and I know I need to plan ahead to do it (sometimes it does help me). Hope everyone has a perfectly OP weekend.

Dana evening snacking is my issue also along with mid-day sometimes, we can do this :) I try to keep grapes handy, but they've been pretty sour here lately

Hey ladies! I actually wanted to jump in! I had the goal of trying to lose 10 lbs this month. Ideally, losing it in 3 weeks before I go to Vegas would be ideal. I just want to step up my workouts and really watch my eating so that I'm at my best for the trip.

Soo it is nearing the end of the weekend here in the UK and i must say i am massively proud of myself...not one single binge all weekend!! that hasnt happened since some time in 2010!!! I am so impressed now im just hoping that the scale agrees at the end of the week!

Great to see how well everyone is doing :) I was proud of myself this weekend, saying no to both Taco Time and a pizza night and finishing the first week of C25K. Scale isn't moving nearly as fast as I wish it would but at least it isn't going up. Also, finally got some sun up here in Seattle which we pretty much haven't seen in the last seven months. Hope you all have a good week!

YES! I am totally jumping on this train :carrot:

I am a couple of days late, but I am so ready for something like this. I lost a little over 10 lbs between April 15 and now. The weight loss has stalled for the last week and a half, but that could very well be due to the fact my weight loss has been less intense and frequent since a huge television has taken up space in the living room. Hopefully we will have a stand for it soon, and the old entertainment center can be moved out of the way for it!

I will try to accomplish this loss by working out two hours a day. One hour muscle group work, one hour brisk walking. My calories have averaged to about 1250 with calorie cycling, but I may try eating as close to 1200 as possible for the next week and see if I can get the scale to budge. That will create a calorie deficit of about 445 calories, according to one calculator. If I walk during my lunch and 15-minute breaks, that will be about roughly 490 calories burned for the day...hmm. That will only get me about -7 lbs tops. Maybe double up on workouts during the weekend? :?:

This is an exciting challenge, even if it seems mathematically improbable to meet. But the body can be a mysterious thing :D I am going to try for it nonetheless, without going under 1200 on calories or doing anything too drastic.

I am late with my check in too, I didn't count 6/1 because I was 152, 4 pounds higher than my last May weigh-in and I am always higher in the beginning to middle of the week.

Well, it's weigh in day for me! I'm a little bummed because this time of the month I tend to lose like gang busters, so I needed the bulk of the loss this week and week 4 (I don't tend to lose from TTOM until ovulation). But, it is a loss and I will celebrate it!

I've never heard that about your head... sounds so weird. I always checked scales by weighing myself on a bunch of them and I try to pick one that's sort of in the middle. Once before I had weighed myself at the docs and gone right afterwards to try and find one that matched.

Hey guys! Sorry I've been A-wall, my weekend was not great, not horrible, but not great, and I get discouraged. I'm not just going to give up this time though, I'm back and have been trying to be aware of what goes in my mouth.

Congrats to all the loses! No matter how small!

I was supposed to weigh in today, but I'm waiting, as TOM has appeared last night for me and I now my weight will be up, I don't want to further discourage myself. SO I will weigh in on Friday and see if I budge at all.

Up 2 lbs, I am thinking a combo of TOM and a terrible weekend. Oh well, just gotta buckle down. I am out of town next week so I probably won't be weighing in until the 20th. Hope everyone else had a better week than me!

Jelma, i don't believe the figures myself, i think my body is going through a funny phase, one moment, i was up 8pounds (which was why i started this thread), the next moment, i'm losing it like a superman, i guess the 8pounds wasn't real in the 1st place.

Don't worry about the 2pounds, you're determined and focused so, it'll drop off sooner or later.

ahh! 1 lb in a week and a half, and I have not been doing well, time to crack down, I'm going away on the 1st and would like to be 5 lbs lighter.
Started at 148 and now I'm at 145, There's still time!

Seems like many of you are ding really well, congrats! And for those that are going slowly, hang in there, we can do this!

Hey can I jump in alittle late? :) I guess 10 pounds would be unrealistic at this point so I'll shoot for 5.5 which would bring me to 165. Here goes!

Well, I'm being uber good, but the scale has been going up. I know it's water weight (TTOM is just finished), but I sure hope it goes before the next weigh to give me HOPE that I'll get to goal on time!

Having a bad eating week over all it started on Saturday so not good today. Hoping for a better week next week. The kids are out of school and our oldest son has decided to walk with me and he has started doing P90X. I'm gonna only try the cardio and see if I can keep up.

Dana - 1lb a week isn't depressing! We're pretty much the same weight and I'm fairly sure I'm going to have a 2lb gain this week :( I know I'll never get to the 10lb loss but I'm definitely hoping for 5lb.

I've had no control over my eating lately, so haven't been coping well at all, but I'm feeling really good this morning and hoping it's going to kick me into a really good on-plan spell!

Well, not happy with my update, but I know it's all water. I've been eating right and exercising regularly. I'm up a pound from a week ago (before TTOM) and I haven't had the water weight loss from after TTOM yet. Every nit my ankles are cankles, so hopefully, I'll see a bigger drop soon. Unfortunately, probably not next week either as I tend to gain around ovulation and by then it will be close to ovulation.

At least I know there is nothing I'm doing "wrong". Sometimes the scale just isn't a good reflection of what's going on.

Hi y'all!

I'm late to the thread (just found it today). But I did actually start on Jume 1 with the Mediterraean food plan. I read the New Sonoma Diet book and found it motivating, but I wanted more fruit than it allows on Wave One.

I was 144 on June 1 when I began.

Today (June 15) I am 138 (that's in the morning, before drinking a sip, and in the buff :))

I'd love to be at 134 by July 1. It's not very realistic, but it's a goal.

Well, I started counting calories on 6/6 and have been watching what I eat to stay under 1200 calories. Now, that's not to say I haven't had the occasional Hershey's miniature (or two or three), but I've stayed on plan and only went over by 63 calories one day. And there are days I dream of Little Debbie's. :T

Met with my health adviser today - lost 9 pounds in two weeks! Yay! He wasn't happy with some of my food choices and says I'm still eating too many "white" carbs. Yeah yeah yeah, like I haven't heard that before.

6/8: 231 (on home scale, since replaced with a digital mac daddy one)

Milesaway- your right, I should be happy with my lb a week, slow and steady, these last 10 lbs have been so hard to get off, it's just frustrating.

Melissa - Hang in there, I'm sure you'll get your drop soon and you will hit onderland! I avoid the scale for four days before and after TOM.

Donna - Kicking butt! Way to go!

I am sitting here, ready to drink another crystal light in order not to do my night binge. I think I'll make it tonight, this will be three nights in a row without night time snacking, that is epic for me.

Hi everyone, today marks the 2nd half of the month which simply means we've a whole 2weeks to eat and exercise right to keep the pounds off (that's not to say we will stop being healthy from June 30th!)

For those of us finding it difficult to move the scale's pin to the left, hang in there and push harder. If you eating right and not losing weight, imagine how much weight you'd have gained if you were not on plan! So let this encourage you.

For those of us who are dropping the weights, let's keep it up, tomorrow is another day, don't let the success of today distract you.

For the new comers, you're welcome. Get right in and let's do it together.

Remember, our target is 10pounds but what we actually want is to shed the weight so don't give up even though it looks like you won't make the target.

So I've not lost anything this week, but I've also not gained, which is a relief to me, as I've not been on plan at all. I just can't believe how easy it is for me to eat so much! Trying to have a bit more control for a week before I head to 5 days of festival - where I shan't track a single calorie so fingers crossed all the walking around and dancing makes up for it!

I "think" coming off blood pressure medicine might have thrown me off a bit too, but it's GOOD to come off the meds! They didn't have an diuretic with them, but my complete stall out coincided with dropping that medicine.

I'm in a similar situation. I was on meds last week and just have tons and tons of water retention. Also, I wouldn't be surprise if my TOM shows up next week so I'm thinking the scale isn't going to be too friendly from now until the end of July despite my best efforts! :(

I've been so busy with the kids this last week ... I have just let everything slide. Lots of celebreting so no worries. I think I'll finish this month out as best I can, then start fresh next month. I know this gain is mostly sodium with other factors. TOM started so next week has got to be a little better :D

So, tomorrow is WI and I've stuck to my 1200 calories and increased my activity. Activity - not working out. I park farther away, I find myself doing yard work or house work when I get home from work instead of sitting on my plump butt yawning.

I received a call from my health advisor today stating he's gone over my daily logs and I'm eating too much sugar. Along with last week's "you're eating too much white carbs". I understand the two can be one in the same. I have a feeling he's going to mention the sweet fruits I've been eating. But here's my thing: I've gone from eating junk food every day of the week to eating much more healthy, lean meats, eating 5 smaller meals a day (3 meals, 2-3 snacks) and much more vegetables and fruits. A total 180 from the crap before. I mean counting calories had taught me that previously I consumed 1200 in one sitting easily, can't imagine what my daily caloric intake was previously. So my fear is he wants to put me on basically put me on this unrealistic meal plan that I won't stick to. Isn't it better to find ways to eat better that you can stick to than to eat turkey and spinach? Looking for your two cents as so many of you are much more successful than I have been.

I am a picky eater, and basically don't like many vegetables except lettuce, green beans, carrots, corn, and potatoes. Of which, I know that corn and potatoes are not the best choices. Maybe I give him another couple weeks, but if our philosophies differ so drastically, I find someone else to be accountable to. This forum is great for that as well, but I need the knowledge that I have to weigh in with someone.

Sorry for the long rant, but I'm starting to get stressed over this. I think I've been doing so well, have been so proud of myself not binging on chocolate and junk food.

I quoted the above because I know my body well. I don't lose (typically) for two weeks of the month and lose a lot for 2 weeks of the month. I 'think' I ovulated yesterday, so I should have a big drop next week and even by July 1st, but I won't make the 10 pounds goal by July 1st. I will keep dropping until about July 5th though and hopefully I'll get close.

At least I understand how my body works, right? extremely cyclical in how it drops weight. But still, a pound up from last week (could have been worse - it was 1.8 pounds up!) I'm exercising regularly and eating around 1200 calories - the scale just isn't coorperating now, but it will eventually as I haven't cheated at all.

So met with the health dude this morning. Eh. Cut down sugar, can't eat pineapple with watermelon (even combnied it was only a 1/2 cup). I understand what he's trying to do. Luckily he has no problem with my Hood chocolate "milk", thank goodness! I'll just continue with what I'm doing and try my best to cut out the sugary items later in the day.

Still up 2 pounds, honestly I am just glad I haven't gained more! I was out of town last week visiting my sister. We went to a yoga class (it was my first time, super hard!) and I swam one day. Tabbycat Annie here... been gone to my mother's for a week. Tried to eat small portions but it was not the same as being at home and choosing meals for myself. Also, I did not do my regular exercise while there. I weighed when I got home this afternoon and was still 138. I'll check again tomorrow morning (I usually weigh in the morning) and hope it might be a bit lower. I'm still aiming for 134 by July 1.

I weighed this morning and was still at 138. I guess it was a week without any scale movement.

I'm heading to the grocery store and plan to get strawberries, squash, zucchimi, and carrots. Cut up the veggies with some sweet onion, microwave in a covered dish, add a drizzle of olive oil, sprinkle wih pepper, and that's a really good meal.

I need skim milk too, for my raisin bran.

I missed a week without realising, and have lost track of EVERYTHING going on here! I don't have time to catch up with everyone I'm afraid. It looks like something odd happened at my festival as although I drank my bodyweight in alcohol, I seemed to have lost 2lb! Not complaining, although it's difficult to know what caused it. Possibly eating very little and walking for miles and miles in the muddy fields. Sadly that's not a lifestyle choice I can make so I'm back to watch my intake and try and get back into the gym routine (it's been 9 days!!)

Yesterday, I weighed in at 164.6, this morning I weighed in at 163.2. Drank more water yesterday than I have over the past couple of days due to having a cold and trying to make sure I didn't get dehydrated. Won't be making the 10 lbs this month, but am quite happy with the loss so far!

Guys, we have come to the end of June, some of us met the 10pounds loss target, some lost a bit while some gained, in all, we all made EFFORTS and we were DETERMINED which are the main tools needed for weight loss.

To continually get support from one another, we've decided to start a similar thread for August titled 'Lose 10pounds by August 1st', Check the thread out in the Weight Loss Support Section, post your starting weight and goal weight tomorrow (July 1st), weigh in will be weekly (choose the day most convenient for you).

We are counting on everyone's support and hoping that we will faithfully kick off more of the weights in August.

Well...I did not lose 10, but I did knock out five!

For the next challenge, I will definitely stay more active in the thread. There was a period of time where I simply maintained, and got real lax with my exercise. I was more distracted with seeing how much I could eat and not gain, instead of trying to get ten down.

Now I know what I can get away with at my current weight range. Onward to the next!

so I definitely didn't make the 10 pound mark but I'm still happy that I'm going in the right direction. My body has been pretty crazy this month and I'm in the process of seeing lots of docs for some things so I'm pretty happy with the 3lb loss despite everything. :D It's especially good since I've been losing more like 1lb/month lately.

So I'm nowhere near my target BUT I had a pleasant surprise this morning of seeing a number BELOW 140 for the first time in a long time. I was also reminded that my scales show smaller increments that whole pounds below 140, so I ended this challenge at 139.2, which is good enough for me and a motivation to get back to the gym and resist the snacks! Didn't lose 10 lbs this month, but I did lose 8. I'm happy enough with that! That's almost 2 lbs a week.

6/1/11: 205.4
6/8/11: 203.2 (-2.2)
6/15/11: 202.6 (-.4 - TTOM finishing up and tons of water weight)
6/22/11: 203.6 (+1.0 - my ovulation weight gain)
6/29/11: 199.6 (-4 lbs for a total of 5.8 pounds lost so far this month)
7/1/11: 197.4 (-2.2 lbs for a total of 8 pounds lost for the month)

Well I'm disappointed in my gain since Tues, but I ate crap Tues night and I guess I'm still paying for it. :(

Oh well, 4 pounds isn't too bad in 20 days I suppose!
