WW At Home - Weigh in at home 16 - 1/12View Full Version : Weigh in at home 16 - 1/12 JudySP 01-06-2003, 09:33 AM Starting the topic - be right back JudySP 01-06-2003, 10:15 AM Carla - I KNOW the stopping eating 2-3 hrs before bedtime is a benefit for me. I had that *urge* right before bedtime and if I had given into it, I know I wouldn't have stopped with that one thing. I envisioned my metabolism sucking out some of the fat in my stomach - like Oprah mentioned - and it helped! You are too funny about the exercise goddess, Carla, but good for you for getting on the bike. I hope you get to the point where you thrive on it - if not, you'll certainly get to the point where your body misses it if you don't do it - hang in there - consistency for a couple of weeks should get you there! Tahoemom - welcome back! Working around your mom's house ceratinly counts as activity - you had a built in stairmaster! I had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's but I am very glad that the holidays are over! I'm glad you are joining the challenges! Sabrina - Wow - that sure was a lot of coffee you were drinking! Way to go for getting to the gym regularly. I think it's a good idea to ease back into journalling and counting points. I wish we had your weather - it snowed a little over night - it's turning into quite a winter for us here in the northeast. Tony and I had a great time this weekend - he lost a bit and I won a bit -all within budget. I ate moderately the whole weekend although I didn't count points. I also went to the fitness center, ran for about 20 minutes (I surprised myself at how long I was able to run) and did some weights #4). The trip up was a bit hairy at times - there were a lot of accidents and it took us twice as long to get there as usual but thankfully, the trip home yesterday was smooth sailing. Since I missed my meeting again this week, I'm posting the numbers from a few weeks ago. I'm going to stick with cutting off eating at least 2 hours before bedtime - I hope that helps my weigh in on Saturday! Judy 163.6/156/135 (numbers from 2 weeks ago) cece 01-06-2003, 04:02 PM Hi all. Tahoemom - Welcome home. I agree that all that hauling boxes up and down stairs certainly counts as exercise. Sabrina - I cut down on caffeine several years ago at the advice of my doctor and I feel the better for it. Now when I have more than a cup or two of regular coffee during the day, I feel it. Good for you for all those trips to the gym. Judy - Last night I allowed myself to go to bed with that "hungry" feeling. I ordered my metabolism to start sucking the fat out of my butt first. Let's see if it listens to me. Of course, if it decides to start with my stomach or thighs first, that's ok too. Glad to hear you had a safe trip to CT, a good weekend, and an easy drive home. I'm betting your weigh-in on Saturday will be spectacular. I did so so over the weekend. Friday we got a late start so we went to the acquarium instead. Between the stairs going into the building and all the walking up and down stairs in the oceanarium, plus the hike between the parking lot and acquarium and back, I think I got in another whole workout. We went to a Peruvian restaurant for dinner. I stuck with chicken and rice (and french fries - Peruvians eat potatos in some form with everything, I think) but left at least 1/2 of my meal untouched, so I ended the day at maximum. Saturday we went to the Art Institute, but the special exhibit - Michelangelo and the art of the Medici era - was so crowded that I didn't go through it. I can't take crowds like that. We went to a Mexican restaurant afterwards where I was less good, thanks to the two sangrias. Still, I ate mostly grilled meat, so not so bad. Yesterday was a bit too snacky. Today I'm firmly back on track and fully expect to be within points. All the walking Friday and Saturday left me a bit achy yesterday and today, so no bike, but I'll be back on that for sure tomorrow. It's getting to be PMS time, so I'm going to have to be really careful. So far I've been craving raw veggies with my homemade ff garlic dressing/dip. If I keep those cravings, I'll be ok. Have a great day. Carla sabrina 01-06-2003, 06:10 PM Hi all, As promised, I weighed myself this morning and it was great news! 162.5, down from 166. Now if I can just get below 160 -- that has always been a HUGE hurdle for me in the past. Yeah!!! Sabrina 165.5/162.5/135 Merrylegs 01-06-2003, 08:51 PM Hi everyone! Tahoemom - welcome back! :) Stairs can be a great exercise. That's great that you're joining us in our exercise challenge for the year. Sabrina - congratulations on a great loss!:D That's really great. Nice to hear your determination to carry on. Wise to cut down on your caffiene too. I only drink one or two cups of coffee in the morning, if I don't quit by noon, I'm awake till the wee hours in the morning. Carla - what a nice weekend. Can't say I've ever had peruvian food. Good for you for ignoring the hungry feeling in the evening. I'll be walking beside you on your bike tomorrow; I'll be the one on the treadmill.;) And no, I didn't get my weights yet...well I sort of did. Mike was off the other day, so I told him what I wanted, and he came back with this he-man dumbbell set that I'm making him take back tomorrow. Judy - you *are* our exercise goddess!:D That's very immpressive being able to run for 20 minutes...all those cardio tapes are paying off! Glad that you had a nice weekend away. And even nicer that you won a little! I did my #4 session today, only 236 to go! I changed my avatar; that's Jasper back in October snoozing on the kitchen floor. He's much bigger now, just as cute. My weekend was good...right on track for a good loss tomorrow. Did cardio and weights at the gym after work, tomorrow will be a hill interval on the treadmill. Have a great day everyone! Karen cece 01-06-2003, 11:26 PM Hi again. Judy - forgot to give you a woo hoo for running 20 minutes on the treadmill. That's great. Sabrina - Congrats on a terrific loss! I'll be sending you a lot of positive vibes to ease you on your way below 160! Karen - Could Jasper be any cuter? I don't think so. Congrats on a good weekend. I'll keep my eye out for you on the treadmill tomorrow while I'm on my bike. As we progress on this exercise challenge, we'll have to calculate whether we've logged enough distance to have met up with each other half way between Vancouver and Chicago. Or perhaps we can bike and walk to Judy in New York. I've had a great day. I'm one point under maximum - making up for the weekend - and fully intend on keeping it that way. I figure if I post that intention, I'm more likely to keep it. Good night to all. Carla JudySP 01-07-2003, 01:03 PM Carla - I'm with you - wherever my metabolism starts suckin' out the fat is fine with me. Sorry to hear about the sangria - I know how that works ;-) We went to a South American restaurant with my parents during the summer - I think it may have been Peruvian. We had yummy chicken and yup, there were fries. I'm so glad to hear that you had a great day - I'm sure it ended that way! I hope the achyness (sp??) is gone. What is in your ff garlic dressing??? LOL about biking and walking to NY. BTW, I'm going to be in Chicago in April. I'll have to email you the details - maybe we can hook up for a cup of Joe? Sabrina - Super loss - way to go! I'm sure you will get past the 160 hurdle. I'll bet all our positive vibes will send you below that 160 mark soon. Karen - Jasper is too cute!! We just got a scanner (for Tony's business) and I'm going to have to try to get a picture of Max up here. Way to go on the workouts! I really like the fact that we can talk about where we are on the challenge - it helps me stay motivated. I had a good day yesterday - I wasn't very motivated about exercising - I think I had some sinus problems yesterday because I was feeling a little congested in my head in a head-achy kind of way. I decided that I didn't want to get behind on the challenge in January to start off so I got on the treadmill (#5) to check out one of the heart rate programs. I did about 25 minutes of walking (with a tiny bit of running) but I didn't set the max speed or incline high enough to stay at the target heart rate - oh well, live and learn. I may try the same program again later in the week and see how that works. I did OK foodwise - I cut off my eating 2 hours before bedtime - I wonder if it *ever* gets any easier. It certainly has helped in the evening snacking department which you all know is my biggest problem. I have a dentist's appt this afternoon - last week a piece of a crown broke off. I may end up getting home a little earlier than I normally would working in the city - if I do, maybe I'll try a new yoga tape I got. Have a great one! Judy cece 01-07-2003, 01:32 PM Hi all, Judy - You're going to be in Chicago? Terrific! Definitely e-mail me the details. I'd love to get together. Yep, sangria does indeed happen. And this was very good sangria, so it happened twice. I make my garlic dip with 1 point worth of ff sour cream and 1 pt worth of ff mayo. You could use all mayo, but using 1/2 sour cream gives it more volume and I'm a volume eater kind of gal. Actually, I used to love getting salads loaded with creamy garlic dressing and this is a way to re-live that. The achiness is all gone, thanks for asking. Sorry to hear about your achy head and your broken crown. Good for you for jumping on the treadmill, even though you didn't feel like a workout. You might not have been within your target heartrate, but every bit of movement helps. I did indeed end the day one point under minimum. I had quite the argument with my metabolism just before bed. It tried to seduce me with the peanut butter Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich that was in the freezer. "Come on baby, you know you want it and you have the points, so who gets hurt?" it said. But I told it to shut up and find some fat to feast on. I was strong and I prevailed. It felt good. I've been on the bike today so I'm one more workout closer to my goal. By the way, I found a pretty good way to satisfy a pizza craving. Pillsbury makes a refrigerated pizza dough that you roll out on a cookie sheet. It's by the biscuits. I used a ff pizza sauce, some chopped peppers and chopped onions and ff shredded mozzarella cheese. It was good. It's not a pizza parlor pizza, but it's every bit as good as frozen - John thought it was better than frozen. And I calculated it as 6 points for 1/3 of the pizza. That's two nice sized slices. Definitely going into the menu rotation. Have a great day everyone. Carla Tahoemom 01-07-2003, 03:25 PM z;#?ies, Congratulations to all of you for exercising. I am starting a Women on Weights class through the community college tonight. I am looking forward to it. I haven't gone to Jazzercise since getting back from my trip. I had planned to today, but the bath tub called my name, and I figured since I had a few hours before my youngest got home from nursery school I could indulge myself. I weighed myself yesterday, up 2 pounds :( I found a empty notebook and am using that as my journal, it is small enough to fit in my purse. Carla I'm going to have to try the pizza it sounds like something the whole family will eat. Merrylegs 01-07-2003, 07:24 PM Hi everyone, Tahoemom, good for you for taking the Weights class. I've been weight training since last June, and feel the benefits enormously. Carla - Let's meet in the middle between Vancouver and Chicago (probably somewhere in Montana) then we'll head over to see Judy in New York:lol: Yay for you for ignoring the Skinny Cow:moo: - sounds like he was very persistent! Now that your legs are feeling better, get on that bike and head west!! Judy - not setting the incline or spped high enough just means you're in better shape than you thought. That's a good thing! I'm sure that it'll get easier for you to not to snack after you get used to it. I do most of my snacking late afternoon, so evenings aren't a problem very often. Once I started declaring the kitchen officially *closed* after the supper dishes are done and out of the way, and everything is tidy & the light is turned off, I don't want to go back in and mess it up. I weighed this morning, thinking it was Wednesday, :dizzy: but I'll check again tomorrow before posting. Had a good unplanned sneak peak. Eating has been good, drinking lots, and am heading for Montana on the treadmill after dinner ttys Karen Merrylegs 01-08-2003, 10:25 AM :D :flow2:  Minus four pounds this morning! :D :flow2:  cece 01-08-2003, 10:32 AM Hi all. Tahoemom - Good for you for starting the weight class. How did it go? Building muscle really helps boost your metabolism. I plan on getting going with my weights very soon. Two pounds over the holidays isn't bad and it's certainly a managable amount to get back off. It will be gone in no time. Karen - Montana it is. We should have some toned butt and thigh muscles by the time we get to New York, don't you think? I'm hoping we get there in summer so we can have one of Judy's tomato sandwiches. Do you think you could hold back a bottle of your wine and bring that with you? I'l have John bake one of his terrific apple pies and ship it out to us. Not low cal, but after all that exercise..... Congrats on a good sneak peak and what, I'm sure will be a good official weigh-in. I'm pleased as punch to post a 5.4 weight loss! I know most of it is probably water, but it's good to see none the less. If I keep up the good work, I should be able to go to the doctor at least a couple of pounds lighter. Ended up the day with three points unused yesterday. I'll be hopping on the bike in a bit - as soon as I get my pot roast going in the crock pot. Have a good day. Carla Tahoemom 01-08-2003, 11:04 AM Way to go Carla and Karen!! You both had huge loses. You have made me determined to get on that treadmill today. My class looks like it will be great. 32 women of all different sizes and fitness levels. We didn't do much yesterday, a few crunches and lunges. Most of the class period was spent going over business. Today I am suppose to take my measurements. It won't be pretty. Carpool should be here any minute and then I WILL make it on to the treadmill. Again congratulations on the great results of all that hard work. cece 01-08-2003, 11:12 AM Karen - We were posting at the same time. That was a great loss! Congrats. Forgot to post my stats, so here they are. 271.4/266/140 (244 - 1st 10%) Merrylegs 01-08-2003, 12:06 PM :cp: :flow1: :balloons: Way to go, Carla! You must be thrilled. Like you, I'm sure a lot of my loss was water, but I'll take every ounce with glee!:D Mike got my weights yesterday, so I'm all set to go at home as well as the gym. Tahoemom - you sound pumped!:cb: I knew you'd enjoy your class. Before I started going to the gym, I was terrified...but like in your class, there are women of all ages, shapes and sizes just trying to improve their health, and nobody pays any attention to what I'm doing anyways. Have a great day! Karen JudySP 01-08-2003, 02:31 PM Carla - WOW!!!! What a super loss - you go girl and the doctor won't have any finger wagging to do! Do you use garlic powder in with the ff sour cream and mayo? I love your conversation with your metabolism! Way to go for getting on that bike! I'll email you the details on Chicago. Tahoemom - way to go on starting the Women on Weights class. Like Karen, I really feel the benefits of weight work too. Sorry about the gain but way to go on journalling. I agree with Carla - 2 pounds over the holidays is a victory in comprison with most people. Karen - WOW - another fantastic loss!! You go girl. I've always wanted to see Montana (really!) - maybe I can run out that way. Way to go on Mike getting those weights. Sometimes, if I don't feel like doing a tape, I'll just bring some dumbells upstairs and do some upper body work while I watch TV. I had a pretty good day yesterday. I got home early from the dentist and since she didn't have to numb my mouth at all, I felt fine to workout. I did a new yoga tape I got - lots of arm strength stuff going on there. Today might be a rest day - I'll definitely be getting home on the later side. Foodwise was OK - I ate to my max but not over it. I had a snack a little later than I wanted to but it was still 2 hours before I went to bed. My sneak peek this morning was down from Monday's but I think I might end up recording a gain on Saturday. I'm going to work like he** for a maintain though - tonight the kitchen is going to close early! Have a great one! Judy cece 01-09-2003, 10:38 AM Hi all - Karen - Love your emoticons! Yeah, who cares if it's water or not - it's weight that was once there that isn't now! Glad you got your weights. Enjoy. Judy - Since I'm exactly where I'm at when I went to the dr. last, I had better get a couple more pounds off. Yep, I put garlic powder in with the sour cream and mayo. Yummy. Sounds like you had a good yoga workout the other day! I'll be rooting for you to pull off a maintain, if not a loss, on Saturday. I had a good day yesterday. A little too much snacking, but I did bank 2 points. Got my milks and fruits/veggies in too. Water is pretty much a given these days. I'm consistently getting it in. I'm suited up and ready to jump on the bike as soon as breakfast digests. Have a great day! Carla Merrylegs 01-09-2003, 11:42 AM Good Morning! It's a beautiful frosty morning here, the sun is shining & we're heading out to the beach with the dogs as soon as Mike finishes his breaky and coffee - I've been up for hours. Judy - hope you managed to close the kitchen. We're rooting for you for Saturday! Mike decided he'd try out my weights yesterday and is moaning and groaning about being sore today. I think it'll motivate him to get back into weight training; he used to do it years ago. Montana, btw, is absolutely beautiful! Carla - :cp: :cp: :cp: Three cheers for you getting on that bike this morning...you'll be in Wisconsin before you know it! And bravo for getting in all your water and banking points! Had a great day yesterday...went to the gym, plus went for a long walk with the dogs. Ate and drank well, and generally feel pretty good. Back to work tomorrow, why do days off always go by so fast?? Have a great day... Karen JudySP 01-09-2003, 01:22 PM Carla - Way to go on banking those points and getting in your milks and veggies. Super that the water is a given - I think once you get there, you stay there - you miss it otherwise. You are getting to be a real biker chick these days ;-) You go girl! Yup, it was a good yoga workout on Tuesday - my hamstrings were so happy afterwards - nice and stretched. Karen - way to go on your great day. No frost for us today - it's 50 degrees and sunny - a nice break. LOL about Mike and the weights - I always like being a little sore after a weight workout - makes me feel like I've made some progress. Where have you been in Montana? That's on my list of the "ones of these days" vacations. I had a good day yesterday - I "closed the kitchen" a few hours before I went to bed and when I had that craving late I told my body is no uncertain terms to suck some fat out of my stomach. I didn't exercise yesterday but will do a strength workout after work today. I feel like I'm fighting off another cold so I am going to try to get to bed early the next few days - more of a challenge for cutting off the food but I am going to close that kitchen 2 hours before or bust! Have a great one! Judy cece 01-09-2003, 01:55 PM Karen - I'd better pedal quickly through Wisconson. Those brats and beer are quite the temptation, not to mention the cheese and frozen custard. Yikes. Good for you for having a great day yesterday. I always feel so much better after a good OP day. Now the trick is to remember that next time I'm tempted to get off track. Judy - I like that sore feeling after a workout too. It's a reminder that I just did something good for myself. Good for you for closing the kitchen! You're doing great with that. Rest up and ward off that cold. I did get on the bike even though I really didn't feel like it today. I'm in a PMS funk. No real cravings, but boy the low moods are really low. But, when I got back from taking Ana to pre-school, I made myself get out of my street clothes and into my workout gear. And when it was time I went in the basement and got on the bike. I'm glad I did. I didn't get the post-exercise high, but it's tempered my mood. Talk to you later. Carla Mickey33 01-10-2003, 07:38 AM Hi Everyone, Hope you don't mind me jumping in here, it just looked like a good thread. I started doing WW on my own 1/3/03 with the help of a member. I have lost 4 lbs. in my first week. I was so incouraged last night after weighing I walked a mile which is unusual for me. I think with all the incouragement here and if the scales stay good to me I will do well this time. 166/162/125 Mickey JudySP 01-10-2003, 08:33 AM Carla - Good for you for getting on that bike! What you wrote is interesting because I realized that while I don't always get that post-exercise high I have *never* felt worse mood-wise after I exercised - it's always better. Mickey - welcome! Wow - you have gotten off to a fantastic start. Way to go on getting out and walking. I'm glad you've found a lot of encouragement here. I had a good day yesterday. I did a weight workout yseterday and stopped eating 2 1/2 hours before bedtime although I ate to my max points. My sneak peek this morning was not great although my rings are tight and my last snack was lite popcorn. I'm promising myself that I will go to my meeting tomorrow and step on that scale no matter what the result - if I went this morning it would be 2.5 pounds up! Well, even if that's the result, it's not bad for the holidays - that's what I'm going to keep telling myself. I'm going to guzzle water today and I plan on doing a step workout today - so far I've done 7 workouts towards the 20 per month I need to make it to 240. Have a great one, Judy nicnac 01-10-2003, 09:42 AM Hi Mickey, I too am new to all this. I used to attend meetings (up until November last year) but with winter hitting us finally, I've opted to try my hand at manageing my weight from home. So far things have been going great. I'm really proud of myself. I've been excercising like a dog and sticking within my points range. My only problem has been that I have been putting on muscle and not really loosing any weight (maybe 4-5 pounds). My husband thinks that my body shape is changing (?). Regardless, I know I'm doing things right. I just don't know how long it will take to actually see big results on the scale. I'm hopefull and strong. Keep up the good work!:D cece 01-10-2003, 10:33 AM Hi all. Mickey - Welcome. You're off to a great start! We're happy to encourage you on your journey. Judy - Good for you for resolving to go to your meeting tomorrow. I'd bet a good bit of that 2.5 pounds is water retention and if you're careful today and guzzle the water, you'll probably manage to get rid of it by tomorrow. And you're right, 2.5 is not bad for the holidays. Nicnac - Welcome to you too! You are doing a great job. Don't be discouraged by the numbers on the scale. Replacing fat with muscle will definitely change your shape and show up as lost inches. Did you take your measurements before you started? If so, if you take them again now I bet you see some good results. And since muscle is denser that fat, you'll see a slower weight loss. But you're doing great things for your body, including boosting your metabolism, and you should see good results at the scale soon. I had a good day yesterday. A bit snacky again in the evening, but I banked 2 points. Considering PMS is hitting me hard, that's a victory. I did well with getting in my milks, fruits, and veggies too. Today PMS is making me crabby rather than blue. I didn't get up in time to get on the bike before Ana woke up. I'm sitting here thinking "I wish I could workout, maybe I wouldn't feel so irritated." Maybe I'm morphing into an exercise fan sooner than I thought I would! At any rate, tomorrow I'll be back on the bike. And if this crabbiness doesn't leave, I might just hop on tonight when John gets home. Have a great day and a terrific weekend. Carla JudySP 01-10-2003, 11:37 AM Nicnac - Welcome! I agree with Carla - keep up the good work with the exercise. The scale will eventually catch up. Carla - thanks for the encouragement. I'm finishing my third class of water as we speak. Yup, it sounds as if you've already morphed into an exercise fan! I'm not sure if I asked you this before, but is there any way that Ana can play in the same room in which you have the exercise bike? If so, it would be great 'cause you'd feel less crabby and Ana would see you exercise - good role model and all that. Judy Tahoemom 01-10-2003, 11:44 AM Hello everyone Welcome Mickey and Nicnac. I hope you enjoy this thread, these ladies really know how to keep up the encouragement. I had a horrible time lately. I thought I had been doing well. Then I found out yesterday the brand of popcorn I had been eatting wasn't really giving clear (or maybe accurate) info on the nutrional info. I had been happily eatting a bag of Kettle corn as a afternoon snack and believing that it was only 175 calories. My friend kept telling me that couldn't be correct but I wanted to believe it was. Last night I went to the store and read all of the brands of Kettle corn and on each box I had to multiply by 12 not 3. I figure today I am going to send the company of my brand a letter telling them How disappointed I am that their food label was so unclear. But I guess this is why I haven't been losing weight, and I should probably be happy that I haven't gained more weight then I did. I am now off to follow all of your leads and hit the treadmill. I want to experience the weight loss this week. nicnac 01-10-2003, 05:01 PM Hi Carla, Thanks for your words of encouragement. No, I have not taken my measurements. There's no way. Isn't that awful. But deep down I know that if I am going to succeed, that I have to grab the bull by the horns and be honest about it. Okay, I've talk myself into it. I'll do it! Now I'll need to find someplace safe to hide the piece of paper. Better start on that before dinner time. Thanks again - Nicnac Mickey33 01-10-2003, 06:30 PM I have had a horrible day today, At work I thought is was the Christmas rush all over again. No time to set down for lunch or not may water breaks. I did grab a couple of banana's on the run though so part of my fruit is in. Now need to get the water. Nicnac- I need to measure also. (This is scarey) My husband said he didn't care if I lost any weight just tone the body. But I am going to do both!!! For Me not HIm....lol. We can do this my sister just told me today her scales aren't moving much either but she has went down 2 sizes in pants... she was thrilled. tahoemom- that is terrible about the popcorn. I don't snack much my weight problem is to many sandwiches and pasta and the PEPSI addiction I HAD..... Now I am drinking water crystal light and diet mt. dew. Only 1 Pepsi thsi whole week. Thanks to all for the welcome.... Mickey Tahoemom 01-10-2003, 09:50 PM A question for all of you WW gurus. I am not sure if I remember the "banking" plan correctly. I believe it goes like this; I am suppose to eat between 22 and 29 points daily. If I only had 24 am I banking 5 points? Or do I only bank points if I stay under 22 points? I seem to have actually stayed on program today. I am pleased with myself because I even went to McDonalds and only ate the side salad no dressing :) That was huge for me. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Merrylegs 01-10-2003, 10:15 PM Happy Friday Everyone! Carla - you're definitely sounding like you're starting to miss not exercising...could that chill in the air be **** freezing over?! You're sounding a lot like that lady who lost 40 lbs a few years ago. As for Wisconsin, the cheese curds would do me in! When Mike was driving long distance in 2001, I went on a 9 day road trip with him through 9 states and five provinces. The best part about Wisconsin was the cheese curds. We bought two bags and chowed down on one each. Far fewer temptations when you get to Minnesota, I think:D . Judy - My time in Montana was on the above mentioned road trip. We drove straight through on I-90 I think it was. Anyway, very beautiful and we'd like to go back and spend some more time there someday too. I'm up to workout #8, I'm counting the two hour-long power walks with the dogs as workouts. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you for a good weigh in for tomorrow :crossed:. Tahoe - :yikes: about the Kettle Corn!! Ouch. Oh well, live and learn. Good for you for getting on that treadmill today. I'm aiming to climb aboard both days this weekend. Will walk/jog Sat, and walk on Sunday. Mickey - welcome! You're right, this is a great thread, hope you'll find all the support you're looking for here. Congratulations on your first week's loss. You're off to a great start.:D Nicnac - welcome to you too! Congratulations on all your exercise! And for your loss too. Carla is right, you're building muscle, and it weighs a lot more than fat, but thankfully takes up a lot less space! Keep it up, and the scale will cooperate too. As for me, it was a very tough day at work. I had not one, but three deaths this morning before 11:00 a.m.:( It was a bit too much to bear for one day. I came home this afternoon feeling drained and ready to head straight to bed. Mike convinced me to go to the gym; I did half an hour of legs, biceps and triceps and came home feeling a whole lot better. He had grilled herb-crusted sea bass and stir fried veggies for dinner waiting when I got home. What a great guy. Snarfed a few cookies at work this afternoon (emotional eating), but they've been counted, and I'm within limits. Off to watch my Vancouver Canucks now. Have a great weekend Karen JudySP 01-10-2003, 10:32 PM Just a few minutes online. Karen - I'm sorry about the deaths this morning. I don't know how those of you in healthcare do it. Mike certainly is a sweetie! Good for you for counting those cookies. I hope these {{{{{HUGS}}}} help. Originally posted by Tahoemom A question for all of you WW gurus. Tahoemom - The way it works is that you subtract what you've eaten that day from your max - that's what you can bank for the day. So if your max is 29 and you eat 24 you are right, you bank 5. You are not supposed to eat less than your mimimun so you must eat 22 points per day. You should not eat less than that or your body will go into famine-mode and hold on to every bit or stored fat you have. The other part of the banking thing is that you are not supposed to eat more than 10 banked points in any one day - that's when you "withdraw" from the bank so that you can eat over your maximum. I hope that helps. Nicnac - good for you for taking your measurements. It's a really good way of tracking your progress. Mickey - way to go for cutting all but 1 Pepsi out this week. Merrylegs 01-11-2003, 09:17 AM Judy - you're the best! thanks for the hugs.:grouphug: Tahoemom - sorry I missed your last post, we must have been on at the same time. Judy is absolutely correct about banking points. I should confess that most of the time I don't follow WW, I have a computer program that counts calories and exercise for me. I do tend to eat "ww style" if that makes sense. Have a great weekend...I have other plans - have to go to work:D Karen Tahoemom 01-11-2003, 11:56 AM Just a quick note Judy and Karen thanks for the banking info. It felt great to write everything down (admittedly eatting a few snacks too) and stay on program. Karen, my husband is a San Jose Sharks and a Buffalo Sabres fan. He said you must be loving this season with the Canucks :) Nicnac, I too am going to take my measurements. I would love to hide them away but I have to turn them in for my exercise class I am taking. I am just glad that I am not the only round woman in class. I am now going to go hop on the treadmill (day 4). Enjoy your weekend :) Gummy 01-12-2003, 09:53 AM Hi everyone. I just registered and am feeling a bit nervous about this. I have the at home program as I have a weird schedule at work and don't think I can make meetings. I work with a lot of people that have been successful with the program and are members. I am the only one doing the at home program. I look forward to receiving support from this site.;) Mickey33 01-12-2003, 10:19 AM Welcome Gummy, I am new to all of this to but the inspiration and the motivation are both here you came to the right place. We will help each other..... Mickey Merrylegs 01-12-2003, 12:30 PM Welcome Gummy! Congratulations on deciding to take control of your weight and eating. You'll find plenty of support here. I am Nicole, 36 yrs., married 6 years, mother of 2 (Boy 5 yrs/Girl 4 yrs), homemaker, 40+ lbs to lose. My husband, Pat calls me Nicnac 'cause I like to shop! I have had the worst weekend ever:censored: I won't go into detail other than the fact that I was asked to help out at our local RCL (Legion) and ended up working 13 hours unexpectedly!! I hadn't prepared to be gone that long and ended up eating crap the whole time I was there (sigh). What else can I do. It's late now, but tomorrow is another day. I will eat within my daily points range and WILL workout 45 minutes! I have ordered a new scale (from Sears) to keep me on track. It will be here on Tuesday (my old one went wacky on me the other day - in wouldn't set back to Zero, only EIGHTY!!! SO I PUT IT IN THE GARBAGE!!! WHO NEEDS THAT!!! My weigh-in isn't until Thursday. The way I look at it is that I have three days get my act together. I will make it. For now though, a hot tub awaits me. I've no regrets (I do really but I won't dwell on them). Like I said before, tomorrow is another day! Hope you all had a better weekend than I did!
