I admire it - I feel like a bit of a hypocrite sometimes. I'm not a vegetarian, and I'm aware of the fairly horrible conditions in which animals live and are treated for meat, but I don't do anything about it. If I can get 'free range' or more friendly choices, I do, and am happy to pay more for it, but that's the extent of it.
So this definitely takes guts. And if I had to kill my own food I would 100% be a vegetarian. Probably if I had to visit a slaughterhouse for a day, I would be 100% vegetarian. I'm not advocating going around killing things, it's more about 'trying to pretend it doesn't happen, doesn't make it any less real'.
I'm not against eating meat - but I would prefer the animals live in humane conditions and be killed quickly and painlessly.
