G'day all.....

on a very hot day here in Adelaide:eek:

Ann and Slavika more similarities :) I also love dogs especially the smaller variety and I am about as firm with them as what you are Ann :D I had two papillons (http://www.pageweb.com/clkpap/)before we started the travel bit. I had a real dilemma but fortunately the friend who used to breed them and lives on quite a large property, agreed to take them back. I am going to see her on Wednesday. Her husband and her are now so attached to them that they do not want to give them back! We have been very grateful to have them in a fantastic home that in time to come we will get another dog. I am determined not to be as pathetic as I was with my two papillons and to show who is boss right from the word go!
It is all very easy for a vet to say that they will eat eventually but they don't have to look at a sad dog all day. I don't know what the answer is.
Our dd has her name on a waiting list for a 'schnoodle', a cross between a snauzer and a poodle. She hopes to have her puppy in March.
I love going to the beach in the morning and watch all the dogs just having the best time. Until 8 am they do not have to be on a leash and many locals take their dogs for walks, hitting tennis balls in the ocean for dogs to retrieve etc. etc. I have yet to see 2 dogs have a fight, they just love it.

I went shopping early this morning and 'found' a really nice outfit for a beach wedding we have to go to next Saturday.....and I bought a couple more computer books (they were on special;))

Just heard that the temperature has reach 39 degrees   :stress:

Have a great day all, stay warm and I will attempt to stay cool!
Cheers
Maria

Maria: What adorable puppies! I Would love to have one :)

Ann: I dont know what to tell you either. Its hard to sit there and watch them not eat. I love dogs and its always hard for me to look at them with those sad eyes.

Have a great day all!

G'day all,

Another hot day........
Received news yesterday that it looks like New Zealand could be as soon as next week!!!!
Today I will make a list of all that needs to be done if that indeed is the case.
DD has asked me to put all her wedding photos and any other photos of her and her dh that I have, on CD.
Very little else to do on such a hot day.

Have a great day all,
Cheers

Hi: Had to cover all my flowers for tonight as it may possibly freeze tomorrow morning early. Brrr. We are too used to warm weather. When I ride my bike, I wear gloves as my hands get so cold.

Called the Vet this a.m. and we went over an had a conference. Took back the cans of yucky dog food, and he finally said there is really no way to be absolutely sure if this would work. So he said go back to her regular regimen of food, and then bring in a urine sample again in about 3 weeks. A very happy dog tonight:cp:

:cb: And so are we. She is not teasing, and whineing and generally looking sad. Time will tell, I guess, if her regular diet is causing a problem. I confessed that I had given her turkey at Christmas time, before we took the sample, and he did say that maybe that might have made the problem with the crystals.

Thank you for your input and sympathy. Those sad eyes do get one--makes me feel mean. When I told the Vet that she wouldn't eat the special stuff at all, and it was 5 days, guess that is what convinced him.:)

Been working on the music for our Spring show. this time we are doing a musical Garden. Never knew there were so many songs about flowers or with flowers in the title. Have to have it all ready by next Monday.

Hi everyone. Good night. Ann

Just picture me all smiles :) doing cartwheels :cb: , and a lot of happy dancing going on... :balloons: I am a Grandma. :D . My DD had a little girl at 2:55 am on Jan 6. Life just doesn't get any better.

Just to show you how similar we all are, we had a beautiful Tri-color Cavalier King Charles Spaniel for 15 wonderful years. She was a darling. http://home.vicnet.net.au/~cavalier/breed.htm I hope this addy works.. she was like the one, second from the left.
They look a lot like Papillons.

:grouphug: :cloud9: it's been quite a day.

Congratulations Trudy , so good to hear all is well and you are now a proud grandmother of a baby girl.

It is amazing how many similarities there are with Americans, Canadians and Australians!!!!!
Loved the Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, one of my papillions is a tri-colour, the other is black and white, look forward to seeing them tomorrow after not seeing them for over a year!

It is getting late here, I have had a very frustrating day computer wise, won't bore you with the details but we have a cool change:love:, so all is not bad!

Goodnight all

CONGRATULATIONS GRANDMA!!!!

:cp: :dancer: :balloons: :cb:

I'm sure you are estatic, and looking forward to a lot of rocking. What is the babys name?

Our Cuddles dog has some of the facial expressions of your spaniel, as she is a cockapoo. Loved the picture. But she is all white, with just a little color in her ears and tail. Very loveable, and very happy to be back to her regular schedule.

Expect the contractor tomorrow to start on the job. A bigger mess before it gets better, I'm sure, but looking forward to having it all done.

Back to work Ann

we are now into the 7th day of the new year and I am just getting here. So Happy New Year!!! Trudy congratulations on being a grandma.:bravo: :cp: I think that there must be a new "princess". Tell us all about her. Maria I wish I could walk on the beach in the morning. It sounds so nice and peaceful. We have had a little snow and it is cold. It must have been very annoying to get a computer virus. I would be so  Ann hope your little pooch is better now that he is getting his old food. I hate having those sad little eyes looking at you. Someone gave my dog a chewy thing for Christmas. He was taking it all around the house burying it. I had a throw on the sofa and it had blood all over it. He wore a sore spot on his nose trying to put imaginary dirt on it. Needless to say he doesn't have it anymore. I think I am getting whatever is going around. I feel blechy today and keep getting chills. Don't have time for this. Going to go for a nap.

G'day all,

Have you come down to earth a little yet Trudy ?
It must be very exciting, the grandmas here certainly enjoy the role of grandma! For me still a little way off:(

As have already said before, I am off to see my friend today who has my dogs. It is a beautiful 'top down' day and I will enjoy the 1 hour or so drive to the country to get to her place.

Had all sorts of problems yesterday with my scanner which in turn 'stuffed' up my computer.
I had a feeling that dd felt a bit left out that her wedding photos are not on my website yet:dizzy: With so many other things going on, I just had not gotten around to it however yesterday I decided to get her photos up there and then of course dh and I spend over 4 hours rectifying the problems with my scanner:mad: Computers:mad:
At 11 o'clock last night I uploaded her page!
By the way, please check out my very favourite photo of my children which is the second to last photo on 'Lexie & Joe's page.
It was taken just before breakfast on the day of dd's wedding.:love:

I really need to make the website a bit more uniform but I have lost quite a bit of data with the virus I recently had, anyway it will give me something to do when we are in.......New Zealand!
It now looks fairly certain that dh is going at the end of next week and if possible I will go with him, depends if all the chores are done.
We will be gone for about 3 months or so. Certainly a big improvement on going to India.

Off to get ready for my day out.
Cheers

I just received this lament in an email and thought I would share

Twas the month after Christmas,
and all through the house...

Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste
at the holiday parties had gone to my waist.

When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).
I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rare,

The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."
As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt.

I said to myself, as I only can
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"
So...away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip

Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
'Till all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won't have a cookie--not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.

I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.
I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore--
But isn't that what January is for?

Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet.

Cheers
Maria

Thank you for all the congrats on my little  . When I laid eyes on her yesterday, my first words were "what a little angel she is".. so angel will be her name. There was a time I didn't even think we would be able to have any children at all, so to have a wonderful daughter and now a grand-daughter is more than I could have ever wished for. I am truly grateful.

Our temperatue is phenomenal for this time of year.. +6C/about 48F is unheard of. Beautiful sun shine day. We went to the hospital and visited for a couple of hours and then my DH drove me to Slavika's place for Tea Time. It was the first time I saw the gals since before Christmas so they had birthday gifts for me too. :D ..I  :gift: I have journals, book bag, fizz bombs for the bath, picture frames.. I have great friends.
After my DH and I did some grocery shopping and then ate out.

Maria  the "lament" was funny. I got rid of my treats too, but unfortuntely not soon enough. Could you post your web page addy again, I can't find the old post and this time I will put it into my favorites. Lucky you going to New Zealand and having your home in Australia.

Bye for now..:grouphug: :cloud9:

Checked out that picture to. It is a great one. They look so much a like.

Peggy: Hope you are feeling better soon!

Trudy: Sounds like you had more of a fun birthday! You do have some great friends :) Maria's page is in her signature. Just copy and paste and it into the URL location and it should work for you!
Angel is a good name for such a sweetie. Wish we could see a picture of her.

Isn't that funny? I was just reading the last of the posts to try to catch up a little, and there was Slavika, missing me. You are right. We had 16 days off for Christmas and came back on the 6th and until today I couldn't see over the top of my work so didn't have time to check in.

Just one quick greeting to Trudy--this is the best time of your life, but it does just keep getting better. Can you imagine what it is like the first time she smiles at you because you are YOU and says, "Grandma." It just gets better and better. Congratulations! There was a time when I didn't think I would have children (and now have three), but I so understand the feeling of being doubly blessed.

Maria - New Zealand! Yea! This gets my vote over India too.

Anne - are you the one whose daughter is waiting for a Schnoodle? That is what our blessed Kassie is. Such a sweet natured dog.

Have to get back to work. Had a great Christmas.

G'day all,

Believe it or not...........on my walk down the beach this morning I was thinking of you all and the winter you are having and then it also occured to me where is Glenda and low and behold you were there this morning after, what sounds like a great break.:)
It is my daughter that is awaiting the birth of her schnoodle! They are very rare here, only two breeders in Australia. She will be pleased to hear that someone actually owns a schnoodle! Any tips for her????

I had a lovely day yesterday driving to my friend who has my dogs. They didn't recognise me:( and both are getting quite old, one is 15 and the other is 14 years old.
I came home feeling quite relaxed after a nice get together.
We both started as flight attendants on the same day in 1969. We shared a flat, it was our first time away from home and boy were we naive!! It is good to be still friends after so many years and our lives having taken such different directions.

Warming up again. I am now getting stuff organised for New Zealand, no flight booked yet.
I will not buy a Lonely Planet Book on New Zealand until we are at the airport, it seems every time I get a lonely planet book of where we are supposed to go to, we end up not going!!!

I am constantly changing my website, I will upload some photos on New Zeasland as soon as we get there.
If you visit my site, make sure you 'refresh' to get the lastest changes.

Have a great day all,
Cheers

Sounds like you had a great christmas!

Maria: When are you leaving to go to New Zealand?

G'day all,

Had a bit of a 'spring' clean early this morning, then another one before we go and then I will be a lady of leisure again with it all done for me:)

Lily We expect to be going the week after next. DH has to go to Melbourne next week to finalise a few things before he takes up his work in New Zealand.

I got the best little printer yesterday (HP deskjet 450) it is specifically designed for travel. I would be lost without a printer and a laptop!
It has software with it to make the printing of collages very easy. I have printed a few collages for some of my cousins overseas. I also did one for dh's father and took it around to him yesterday. He just loved it. I had put it in a frame and was about to place it on a shelve but he wanted it on the coffee table next to him so he could have a really good look at it!
Lots to do, will check in later......
Cheers

Hi everyone: Haven't been aable to use the computer for two days, as we had to cover it all up against the dust, etc. as the old floor was taken out and replaced. They have been here two days, and tomorrow the cabinet maker will be here and also the plumber. So I'm crossing my fingers that things might be done by Sat. but I'm not holding my breath.

Glenda: Glad to hear from you. You were missed, but to have a 16 day vacation is really good.:)

Maria: New Zealand certainly does have more appeal than India. Australia and New Zealand have always been my dream places to visit. I really enjoyed reading the fiction series The Australians. Based on fact, of course. Sorry that your doggies didn't really remember, but maybe that is just as well, since you would only have to leave them again. It is great to have friends for a long time.
Our dog is her happy old self now that she gets to eat her regular food. Guess time will tell if she still has crystals. Surely hope not.

Hi everyone. Have a good weekend. I expect I'll have to cover up the computer again tomorrow. Ann

Hi to all, Trudy so glad that you are enjoying your little angel gd. Happy Belated Birthday. Glenda glad to hear from you-I was wondering about you too. Glad you had a nice time off. Ann how is the remodel going? It is always nice to have new and fresh. Maria I am glad that you are going to NZ instead of India. I was worrying about you going there. We have had a couple of beautiful days but today the snow flurries are back. Lily I hear it has been hot in California. I am jealous. My bil and sil are in town this weekend so we are visiting. Talk more next week.

:grouphug: Hi Everybody
My dil phoned this morning and invited me to go out to breakfast with her and she was surprised that I was free to go. For some reason I was kind of at lose ends this morning and wasn't sure what I wanted to do. That was perfect! :)
We had our breakfast/lunch and then she was off to the school to do lunch duty. When I got home I finished cleaning the basement. I have to say I have been really brutal with this cleaning that I have been doing since the new year. I sure "saved" a lot stuff. The things that somebody could use went into my diabetes donation boxes and the true JUNK....into the garbage. :cp:
I even went through my grandchildren's toys that they have out grown. I picked out a couple of things that were still in nice shape and thought I would keep on hand in case I get tiny little vistor's. :) I also saved some nice puzzles to pass on to Trudy for when her little
gets bigger. Maria every time you mention that you and DH will be going off to a new place I think of that Willie Nelson song, "On the Road Again". :D At least I think it's by Willie Nelson. Can you hear me singing it to you???
Ann glad that your home will soon be all finished. What job! I hope your doggie stays well. Our pets are like tiny children when they are hurt or sad, and we just can't explain to them why we HAVE to do certain things. :(
Glenda hi there. Nice to see you back on the board. Well gals, I still have a few little things to get done, so see you all later.

I am not sure I understand this new format. I have been kicked off several times too. What is the 1-2-3 thing just above this?

Have you all heard the awful story of the family who was stopped because the cops thought they were carjackers. They were stopped at gunpoint, got out of the car and the cops wouldn't let them close the door. Their dog got out of the car and went down the highway and coming back was wagging his tail when one of the policemen (idiots) just shot him in the head. I love my dog so much that I just saw red when I read this. There are so many horrible stories about kids being neglected and yet, this story about the dog was sickening too.

Have a great weekend. Maybe soon I will be able to figure out the new format and be able to read all the posts.

Must be southern Cal you are hearing about. Course 50 is probably warm to you :)

Slavika: You are more than welocme to come to my house and clean and get rid of junk for me :) I need to do it bad but keep putting it off.

Glenda: No I didnt hear that story. How sad! Cant believe they would do that to an innocent puppy.

I didn't see that story about the dog but it brought tears to my eyes. So, so sad. Slavika good for you for cleaning out the basement. I have done that too but somehow more stuff comes in. I dont want to bore everyone, but they make 2 kinds and first being the most expensive and they only make so many (most those are what are listed on the website.)

The second the cheaper being they made more and are still making more.

On Monday the plumber is coming and when he is finished, all the work will be done. the new cabinet is very nice. We are also getting sinks with over-flow drains. Sort of dlosing the door after the horse is gone.

Slavika: On the road again is a good song for Maria. nd you wre right - Willie Nelson. I also remember once when Johnny Carson and Willie did it together. Johnnie also wore a wig so that he had a long braid like Willie.

Glenda: If you are talking about the 1 2 3 that Slavika mentioned you can read all the past pages. The page number that is highlighted is the present page.
