Default total carbs, confused?

I heard that the total carbs is really not the total carbs. You have to take the carbs and subtract sugar alcohol and subtract the fiber carbs and that gives you the total carbs. for example: one of the atkins bars is 22 g carbs-10 g dietary fiber- 10 g sugar alcohol= 2 g net carbs total. Is this how it works or am I listening to bad advice?

That's how atkins figures carbs. The IP diet...doesn't really take into account fiber or sugar alcohol.
